I am not of the belief that there actually is a best minstrel among the elves. Like...music is such a broad and varied art that you may compare Maglor and Daeron, but that would be like comparing the sea and the forest; they both play beautifully and with great skill and inspire their people, but their arts come from different cultures and backgrounds.

And Lúthien has an ethereal nature due to her heritage which makes her music beautiful and powerful, yes, but does that make her a skilled minstrel or a singer with a beautiful natural voice and an inherent connection to the Music and the world that channels it? Could you truly compare her to anyone else?

There are other minstrels, I know, but I find myself thinking how interesting it is that it's such a debate as to which one's the greatest (of course, I do find the arguments interesting and I do really enjoy reading them) when music is something that is very subjective.

Like, an opera singer and a jazz singer use very different techniques to get the sound they want out, and to invoke the emotion they want. If you had a master of opera and a master of jazz, I don't think you could directly compare them - except if you had a preference for one or the other type of music.

And I think (from a Watsonian perspective) the idea of a Greatest Elven Minstrel is very political - it's almost as if to show that this elven side is still better than the other, culturally at least, because their music is better etc. etc.

It took me about five years to realize that they had shot two versions of the Far Cry 5 live-action trailer “The Sermon”. In one, they sing “Amazing Grace”, and in the other, it’s “We Will Rise Again”.

By the way, there’s a cinematographic detail in the second version that I really like; we can see the reflection of the “lost sheep” in Joseph’s glasses:

Watched perfect blue. I loved it except that twist at the end really ruined it for me tbh... Was truly hoping for a story of confusion and not ever knowing where or when you are. It basically turns it from "being a celebrity can ruin yer mind" to "actually it was all this fat woman with a stigmatized mental illness' fault everything bad happened to this beautiful thin girl". Really sucks :/

i saw wicked for the 3rd time last night at a local gay bookstore and it was a sing a long and part way thru there was an intermission with drag performances and a bunch of my friends came out and it was just sooooooo good honestly god's way of watching the film

I wish my daggers had cool marking/engravings but a the couple are kinda cheap ones I bought online nothing special. I have two small replicate elf knives that are pretty cool but the rapier is the newest so she’s kind of my bell of the ball her basket hilt is my favorite part flatter than you would think but her guards around the blade look snakes like to me. And I love her.

As much as I would like to stay strapped all the time(or get strapped if we’re being cheeky), I only really get a chance to wear them all to the Ren faire or DnD/cosplay. Thats where I kinda figured I like having them on me so much. Feeling them on my body and walking around holding the power of it.😮‍💨🥵 It was not something I envisioned having been unlocked in a crowd of people but here we are. After that I’ve been obsessed looking for more intricate pieces and finding excuses to where them. I am a faire security guard’s nightmare btw takes them forever to check me and I take great pleasure in that knowledge.

In reading your messages I’ve realized I’m wholly uninformed, and have been missing out on more of Renee’s performances I didn’t know existed. I’m on my knees show me begging to be shown the way 🙏🏻
