I have many things to say about Brennan and sweets and booth and their relationship and how important and special it is to me that they all endured serve childhood trauma and abuse and the way that impacts their relationship and separate characters and how they interact and eventually I will write it out (highkey I could write an essay if I weren’t so busy) but I’m way too sleepy rn

Anyways their relationship and their specific representations of child abuse/solidarity between survivors of it is extremely personal and special to me and it’s easily one of my favorite parts of the show

Interesting to me that even AMuS highlighted how unusual it was for Red Bull's Head of PR to be with Daniel for his media rounds, while also reiterating that Daniel still has Christian Horner's full backing and support. I also think Visa advocating for Daniel is a HUGE boost for him given their sponsorship deal is worth upwards of 20 million a year.

One thing I really like about Xb editing is how he keeps silent moments.

Like (undertandably), a lot of youtubeurs cut all the silence from their videos, but Xb sometimes keeps like full 5 seconds of pure silence, no one talking, no music.

Like the silence after Scar death here is too funny to be cut. I love comedic silence, and Xb does it so well in his videos.

leo leaving foolish a sign like all the others, leaving the most concrete out of all the messages, but no one comments on it. foolish, dead quiet after asking for a direct translation, as the others come in, take note of the sign, and then continue on to other topics. forever coming up, asking if this is anything new or “just another sign”. baghera and fit, the only ones asking if he’s okay, and he just brushes it off, because of course he would, it’s foolish, and it’s easy even though it’s entirely unconvincing and obviously a lie, because everyone else is talking over them anyway. etoiles not even checking in, just pulling him aside to accuse him of federation bullshit. everyone proceeding to talk about crimes in his tower, sitting right on the concrete trail. mouse in the cappy place, saying foolish doesn’t even care about leo, he doesn’t care that she’s gone, and foolish goes quiet for a full minute, until he can find some joke to latch onto and start deflecting again. I can’t take it anymore I’m at my limit.

did anyone other than foolish know the significance of the amethyst, and take note, like they did with the other eggs and their left behind items? or was it just him, alone later on, repeating always juntos to himself as he looks at the message again.

Something I've noticed is the abundance of signs now; all left purposely untouched. Before, if anyone came across a random sign, they'd read it and remove it--save for the cases it might be the last signs of a egg long gone, or if it seemed important enough to keep. But they would clean up the messes of the kids on the server, removing snippets of old conversations, and now?? Every sign is kept, every word is read and they sit there, because it's such a reminder of how empty everything is now, the sound of trailing footsteps and placed signs are gone and this is what they have left. Just little bits and pieces to serve as reminder that another day passes without their kids and it's so sad to see parents take a deep breath when they see a sign and have to brace themselves against the fact that always lingers in the back of their mind because there's nothing else they can really do now

Hang on, I have thoughts about this that I don't think others have touched upon yet

obligatory I'm not hard of hearing, but I can't help but gush at how they depicted the Sister of Silence in The Tithes: 2 communicating in BSL, I don't understand sign language but the animations for the signs looked smooth as fuck and really subtle in their dexterity, so I'd love to know what someone who actually communicates in BSL thinks.

it also showed just how hard it was for the sister of silence to communicate with just about anyone, granted it's not 100% disability rep because SOS aren't hard of hearing, they just take a vow of silence for lore fluff reasons, but I feel like that would be an experience anyone who is hard would know. in the 20 minute run time of the episode EVERYONE she talks to, except for the warrior she spends every day with, pulls a complete fucking blank at the sign language an immediately turn to her collegue. in the above scene the planet is about to get overrun by bugs and those two (the lady who communicates in sign and the big lady in the golden armour) have people to evacuate, the Sister of Silence was likely venting with what she signed because she knew no one would understand her, and the custodian stepped in for damage controll to tell the arbitrators (read as cops) what they wanted to hear.

the character isn't hard of hearing so I don't know where it falls for disability rep, but I feel like the writers and animation team put legitimate thought into showing an aspect of lore laid down 40 years ago and did so in a way that feels like an experience any hard of hearing person might face of not just having people not understand you at every turn, but people who Do understand you going behind your back and lying about what you said to sooth someone elses feelings at the expense of silencing you.

I guess I'm surprised to see disability representation of that level in an animation that's basically "look at our pretty toy soldiers, now go buy them!"

Yoo in the recent 40k animation (the Tithes) they have a sister of silence using actual sign language.

Know that's the Lore and all, but I don't think I've ever seen sign language animated like this.

"Thoughtmark is based on British Sign Language. There were some challenges: having half the sister’s face covered makes it tricky in places as a lot of the nuance comes from facial expressions. This is even more true of BSL where non-manual signals are an important factor, so we had to work out other ways to compensate for that. I had a draft on here about Ivan joining the rebellion and growing his hair out long!! ROUND 6 released and absolutely DASHED my hopes of course but it was nice to look back on how blindly optimistic I was haha.... ha....

Anyways. Yes. Ivan with long hair. I think he'd look good with it in a low ponytail maybe... or braided hair.... I've seen AUs where Ivan stayed in the slums and he absolutely rocks a mullet. It's a shame Unsha and Nigeh are so keen on keeping their pets well groomed and proper (Ivan and Sua's hair is so perfectly cut and it stayed that way for basically their whole lives). Ivan with a mullet... Sua with the same hair length she had in the angel/devil art with Mizi.... wah..... they'd look so good.

I think a lot about the fact that Till is so fixated on Mizi's long hair and I wonder if he'd start growing fond of Ivan's hair too if he grew it out (Till braiding flowers into Ivan's hair and insisting it's just practice even though he adjusts the style into something he thinks would fit Ivan specifically... Ivan feeling warm at the touch of Till's hands in his hair.... aauuuuooiighhh)
