RotT ranting ‘cause I need to express my unhappiness.
JIM YOU COMPLETE FUCKING IDIOT!
There is a whole ass 20 min long ep in Trollhunters called ‘Unbecoming’ exploring the question/insecurity of “What if Jim wasn’t the Trollhunter?” The answer clearly shown in the episode is “The whole world will go to shit, and in the end Jim is the Trollhunter, Amulet or not.”
Ya hear that Jim? AMULET or NOT.
So why is it that the 1st thing young Jimmy does when the Amulet breaks is go, “Oh no but can i be a hero without the Amulet?” Bitch EXCUSE ME??
Where did all that character development go huh? Up Gunmar’s fat asshole? ‘Cause no way are the writers doing this arc again that they already did very well in a series explicitly dedicated to Jim alone, without the time limit of a movie and the need to include sixty million other main characters from the other shows and all their separate arcs.
But apparently, the writers collectively decided to have selective amnesia that day and completely forgot about the episode dedicated to Jim’s insecurities and doubts. Nice going writers.
And then. And THEN. They have the audacity to take Toby - ma boi TP - and make it so the only thing he can do to help is sacrifice himself for the cause, and then die. Yes, you heard that right. They kill off Toby for shock value.
What. The. Fuck.
Toby is so much more than just the support guy who dies to give the movie a dark edgy “deep” ending. He’s Jim’s best friend, the steady accepting rock that Jim is lost without. It’s not a happy ending if Toby’s not in it. Jim would be broken. But I guess that was probably the point, huh. “Oh no, one of the main chs died, this movie really does have consequences!”
Except it actually doesn’t, because they almost immediately scrap that. See, after Toby’s tragic death - which btw I legit didn’t see coming and was completely confused by. And this wasn’t shock or denial from grief, this was just plain scepticism and confusion. Huh? Ok so did Toby just… die? It’s not a fake-out for drama?
I just sat there for a few minutes waiting for the film to clarify. And then when I realised yes, they did actually kill Toby, I waited a bit more for the film to pull something out of its ass to retcon this. Which it did. And boy was it some retcon.
Time travel. Yep. You heard right, but I’m going to write it again anyway: They used time travel.
Now time travel on its own isn’t a show breaker. Hell, it’s used quite effectively in many stories and movies. Harry Potter PoA case in point. So time travel as a concept isn’t bad. It’s when the time travel breaks the timeline, already existing lore, character development, character integrity, stakes, suspension of disbelief, and makes you feel like nothing you watched mattered, that it becomes bad. Which RotT does. And it’s a dumpster fire.
Jim travels back in time, not to the moment before Toby’s sacrifice, which would have invalidated that sacrifice but might have been bearable. Not to the beginning of the movie, which would have been a bit weird but bearable. No. Go big or go home right? He goes all the way back to Trollhunters Season 1 Episode 1 ‘Becoming’. The beginning of the fucking series.
In case you don’t realise what a colossal screw up this is, let me lay out the situation for you.
So, y’know all those characters you know and love? Y’know how you love them because you’ve seen them grow from idealistic normal kids to responsible and dependable badasses? Y’know how you put your time into watching 88 episodes and 1 movie? Y’know how you witnessed 34 hours of these characters learning and growing and interacting together? Y’know all the highs and lows, the tears and the smiles, the laughs and the cringes, the heartbreak and wholesome? The journey these characters, and this world, has taken? The moments and episodes and people and places you know and have grown to care about?
Well. Take all that, wrap it up really nicely with a bow on top, sign ‘My Childhood’ on it, and then just kinda… throw it in the trash. And then crush it under a trash compactor. And then light the resulting piece of shit on fire.
According to the writers and world and lore and canon, those 88 episodes? They don’t exist. None of that has happened, except in Jim’s head. It’s kinda like the ‘it was all a dream’ stories, but almost worse because that dream is going to happen again.
We know what’s going to happen. Doing it again will feel cheap and boring and flat. Those characters we like ‘cause of character development? Not there anymore. We’re stuck with the simple boring normal versions of them again. And we’ll have to watch them go through the same things as if for the first time just to get to the characters we like. Only it won’t be for the first time. And we’ll know that.
Why would we want this? Writers? Hello? Someone answer me, because I don’t know the reason myself! Why in the everloving shit would we ever want to retcon 32 hours of viewing experience, just to do it all. Over. Again. There is no reason. Because we don’t want to.
Hell, even Jim probably doesn’t want to! The writers made it so he still remembers everything, so do you know how much trauma this guy probably has by now? Let’s see:
Bular trying to kill him, Draal trying to kill him, Goblins trying to kill him, Nomura trying to kill him, Gladys trying to kill him, the Stalkling trying to kill him, lightning trying to kill him, Strickler trying to kill him, lying to his Mom, Golems trying to kill him, Gato trying to kill him, Angor Rot trying to kill him, Pixies being pixies, his Mom almost being killed, Aaarrrgghh being killed.
The Darklands trying to kill him, Nyarlagroths trying to kill him, Gumm Gumms trying to kill him, Dictatious trying to kill him, Gunmar trying to kill him, the Gruesome trying to kill him, Usurna trying to kill him, the Deep trying to kill him, Vendal being killed, Otto trying to kill him, Trollmarket’s citizens being killed, Claire almost killing herself. Claire getting possessed and trying to kill him, Draal being killed, Merlin trying to kill him, Jim killing his humanity, the sun trying to kill him, Morgana trying to kill him.
The Green Knight trying to kill him, Arthur trying to kill him, Guards trying to kill him, Aaarrrgghh trying to kill him, the Arcane Order trying to kill him, Jim trying to kill his friends, Merlin being killed, Jim being killed. Nari trying to kill him, Numora being killed, Strickler being killed, Archie and Charlemagne being killed, the world being killed, Toby being killed.
Yeahhh. He’s got trauma. He’s got trauma for days. Hey, you know what’s great for someone who has trauma? Putting them back into the traumatic situation and doing it again! I’m sure their mental health won’t completely crumble under the stress. This is going to go great! Not.
And that’s not even the worst part. Haha ohhh no!
The worst part - by FAR - is that this stupid garbage excuse for a movie not only forgets about ‘Unbecoming’ once, but twice.
During the bulk of the movie, Jim struggles with feeling like he can’t be a hero without the Amulet. During the end of the movie though, after Jim’s successfully time travelled to the writers’ heart’s content, Jim forgets the other major lesson of Unbecoming, the part about what happens if Jim isn’t the Trollhunter. Don’t remember? Here’s a friendly reminder from before:
“The whole world will go to shit, and in the end Jim is the Trollhunter, Amulet or not.”
Did you catch that first part? Ahem.
“THE WHOLE WORLD WILL GO TO SHIT.”
If Jim is not the Trollhunter, if he does not pick up the Amulet and stop the Bridge from forming, and kill Bular and Gunmar and Angor Rot, the whole world goes to complete, absolute, no holds barred, shit. And what does Jim do at the end of the movie, having seen in terrifying detail exactly what that kind of future is? Why, he makes Toby the Trollhunter of course!
I- I can’t. I just can’t with this movie. How-? Why-? Just why. Why do this? Jim, you remember what happened last time you refused the call, right? You- you do remember, right??
Killahead opens. Bular is still alive. Gunmar and the whole Gumm Gumm army is free. Arcadia’s population of humans is eaten alive. Trollmarket is overrun. There are Changelings and Goblins and all kinds of Darklands creatures everywhere. No-one can kill Gunmar because the Amulet is broken, which means no Eclipse Armor.
Merlin’s staff is most likely taken by the bad guys, since the Amulet can’t lead any GGs to it first. Merlin is crushed to death without waking. Morgana is freed. The Eternal Night is upon us. Humanity is eaten. The Arcane Order turns everything back to the Stone Age with no one to stop them. The Arkiridians land on Earth and are probably killed. There goes Arkiridian-5’s royal family. General Morando becomes Gaylen and battles the Arcane Order for ultimate supremacy over the Universe.
This is the Bad Timeline. Everything sucks.
Jim. Jim buddy. Buddy ol’ pal. Jimbo. Why in the everloving fuck would you do this? It’s official, I think the writers have amnesia. They forgot that whole episode, apparently it wasn’t there.
And wait a minute- who ever said Jim could give the Amulet to Toby in the first place? It’s not, like, really his choice? Sure he rejected it in ‘Unbecoming,’ but that was mainly Merlin’s choice to make Draal the Trollhunter instead of Jim to teach Jim a lesson. Key word: Merlin’s choice. Because it’s Merlin’s Amulet, and he chooses who the next Trollhunter is.
Why would Merlin choose Toby just because he sacrificed himself in the future? Toby is, no offence Toby, not a logical choice to be Trollhunter. At this point in the story he’s not very fit, doesn’t seem to want the kind of adventure Jim does in the first episode, and he doesn’t have any fighting skills.
It’s only Jim’s expertise in cooking that lets him live in that first battle with Bular. Toby doesn’t have cooking skills. He will die on the first night, and then the Amulet will choose Jim again, but this time he’ll have even more added trauma.
And let's put aside the plot relevance of how much of a horrifying choice anyone who’s not Jim having the Amulet is for a sec. Plot aside, Jim as a character would never in his LIFE give Toby the Amulet. Because it’s not just a glowing amulet with cool armour and a sword for someone who’s worthy.
It’s a burden.
It’s a burden and a responsibility. It’s a lifelong commitment to putting others first. To making hard choices and having to live with the consequences of them in the aftermath. To giving every part of yourself, to sacrificing everything you are, so that someone else can be saved. Two worlds on the Trollhunter’s shoulders. Human and Troll.
That weight is something Jim has not wanted so many times. He’s admitted or complained or sighed or yelled that sometimes he wants to get to be a normal kid, live longer than high school, not worry about someone trying to kill him or someone else all the time.
The Trollhunter doesn’t get that luxury. Rule number one: Always be afraid. The Trollhunter can never stop being afraid. Their whole life from this point until DEATH is dedicated to this destiny of fear and hunting and protection.
Jim, who cares for and loves his best friend as a brother, would never ever push that kind of life and responsibility onto Toby and call it something good. The sole reason Jim went back in time at all was to save Toby. There is NO universe in which Jim willingly and happily then takes Tobys life and shoves him into the path of Bular, and Strickler, and Angor Rot, and Gunmar.
And the icing on the fucked up cake is that the only way Jim managed to kill Gunmar was by turning into a troll. By giving up his life as a human teenager with a human family. By becoming a species with a lot of instincts and traits most others would label as monster. By giving up his life in the sun. By giving up part of his humanity.
Jim would NEVER force Toby into having to make that kind of choice. And I am ashamed of the writers who thought that he would.

Dear Trollhunters, Wild Robot, Dragon Prince and Rescue Bots fans
I have this concept of multiverse in my head where all the characters of series, games and movies I have watched exist in different universes, completely separated but united my magic
One of the many characteristics of this multiverse is the fact that some characters share something named essence, this is what souls, sparks and spirits are made, and if someone of another universe has your same essence, is because they are variants
What is my point?
I’m a fan of the four series and movie I just told you, and based in both canon and headcanons, I truly believe Arrrgh, Rozz, Aaravos and Boulder are variants
And the rest is pure headcanons, analysis and shit like the ships across the multiverse I did time ago, so, read if you can or want and if not, oks
I will also talk about Heatwave, Sissi and Salvage’s variants
Also, is stupid to say that this includes spoilers for the ones who doesn’t know about the other media
Ok, so, I think with Rozz, Boulder and Arrrgh is pretty obvious, the three of them didn’t knew a single shit about life, stayed two days and ended up liking it, even getting friends and families out there, so, why Aaravos? The motherfucker who, because of the death of his daughter, made an entire sea with his tears and later got up to fuck the lives of the ones who made that possible, including all the beings who crossed on his way
Well, it’s actually because of that
Let’s remember Arrrg wasn’t always a pacifist, he was a gum gum before, Rozz first was made to be just a robotic maid with programed responses and (mostly headcanons because we never got any info of the bots back on Cybertron) Boulder lived on a society that constantly denigrated the classes depending on the job, Aaravos literrally said “fuck you” to the system and did whatever he wanted, for both love and revenge, Arrrgh, Rozz and Boulder did the same, Arrrgh leave the gum gums and befriended Blinky, Rozz adapted to became mother of Brightbill and Boulder leave behind their past on Cybertron to start a new life painting and gardening, the difference is that Aaravos committed murder and magic crimes while Arrrgh, Rozz and Boulder preferred to be good people :v
So, yes, I truly believe those four are variants and I love them that way so much, and Aaravos could learn a lot about those three, same for the rest from Aaravos, I want to believe Aaravos can still be good but he gave so much priority to his plan revenge that forgot that and now uses his good part to manipulate people
Wrath: you can’t be actually serious
Writer: OH I CAN! WATCH ME, DRAWER!
Drawer: gimme a sec…
Tumblr media
(Reminder this was made in a rush with 0 references or sketch, only quick lineart)
Drawer: Done!
Writer: IT’S SO CUTEEEEEE!
They also made a grupal therapy to see if they could help Aaravos with his angry issues!
Even Aaravos was puzzled about looking at Arrrgh act so chilly and laugh about his own trauma as a gum gum general, not even Boulder knew what to say or what to do about it. Rozz could only share a listener shoulder
But hey! They shared a lot of funny tales! And they even discovered their respective partners were also variants!
Because yes, I believe Heatwave, Fink, Blinky and Avizandum are variants too
Researcher: but Avizandum is not Aaravos partner
Writer: not their normal partner, their hate partner! Aaravos was so dammed angry when he found out he’s friend with Avi in another universes! Like, play it please!
——
Aaravos: you can’t be serious!
Boulder: why not?
Aaravos: because we’re not even friends! He caged me in a magic pearl at the button of the sea I did myself!! He’s egotistical and believes he’s more than anyone else for the mere fact he’s a damn dragon!!
Arrrgh: …am
Rozz: Well! Not because we are variants our stories are the same, haha
Boulder: exactly! I’m sorry Avizandum did that, but Rozz is right, my Heatwave would never caged on a pearl… it sounds weird when I say it out loud
Aaravos: I know, right? It took me some centuries to get accomplished to the fact and say it out loud normally
Rozz: Fink had the chance to leave me at my luck but he didn’t… well, whatever, the point is, yes, he did bad things and hurt you but now he can’t, right?
Arrrgh: the best is to let go
Rozz: Exactly!
Aaravos: …hm, you’re right, he’s dead after all, is not like he can do much
Rozz: Exactly- wait, he’s dead?
Drawer: Rozz definitely didn’t expected that
So… yes, that’s mostly of what I can say about them, I just think they’re cool and I love them, I wanted Rozz, Boulder and Arrgh to be friend and Aaravos deserves to heal. I mean, a domestic robot, an alien transformer, a troll and a touchstar elf in the same room is all I wanted to see today(their dynamic remembers me a lot of those comics where Bill Cipher is sent to Gravity Falls to pay for his shit and heal his traumas)
And also
Aaravos with braids and flowers in his head because of those three is so 🌟 🌟 🌟
And then we have Heatwave fighting the flames Mandrake made because Fink won in poker while Blink is hidden behind the table in the other room :v
And I decided to use Mandrake from the movie Epic instead of Avizandum because I truly believe he and Aaravos are the drama queens of the club and definitely I think they would be good friends (and they both lost a child, so…)
And also because Avi is dead
Writer: guys-?
All: no
Writer: But-
Researcher: THEY AREN’T EVEN FROM THE SAME STUDIO, MANDRAKE IS FROM BLUE SKY AND AARAVOS IS FROM WONDERSTORM
Reader: you’re intrusive crack ships thoughts scare me sometimes
Writer: WELL, WHATEVER! THE POINT IS THAT THOSE FOUR ARE SO DIFFERENT FROM EACH OTHER AND THAT’S FUNNY
Like, can you imagine the hothead of Heatwave, Blinky who is such a nerd, Mandrake who is an edgy bitch and Fink the sassy fox?
I just can think of them like (featuring Avi’s ghost)
Tumblr media
And then we have Sissi and Salvage talking and playing Five nights at Freddy’s with Brightbill, Zym, Toby, Jim, Dagda and Leola because the fuck, the little girl likes terror and the teens had passed through a lot to get scared easily-

AUs/Headcanon Projects
Trollhunters AU Masterpost (because it would be a pain in the ass to list them all)
Starborne Kingdom of Dianite :: My MCYT Starborne AU! Builds off Jordan's origins smp lore, continuing the story (since he fucking won't /lh /j) and adding worldbuilding to the realm of the starborne (in my headcanon, its a version of the Aether!) How the Aether and the cast works comes off a tidbit from non est ad astra (see below) so we got two tiem reesters + hermits + lifers and the canon OSMP cast
Masterpost | AU Tag
Tales of Aitheaca/Gays on a Boat :: Mianite Post-canon/post-Isles fanstory! Gays on a Boat follows tiem reester after season 2 and goes up through Isles (following everyone else but tom and jordan). Tales of Aitheaca picks up where Isles leaves off (if i pretend like the end of Isles doesn't exist it can't hurt me) and takes them to another relative universe in pursuit of a multiversal anomaly, where ultimate balance rules. also the boat is a dimension traveller and to everyone's shock not the only one
Gays on a Boat | Tales of Aitheaca
Mianite Godswap :: Joke AU I made during Octobernite, but also has a bit of story tied to it. mostly an excuse to make syndisparklez between a dianitee and mianitee because that concept is fascinating to me
Mianite x Life Series :: Fan season of the Life Series that builds off a funny little game that Ianite, Dianite and the Watchers play with their casts and swap them around, putting the lifers in a blank slate world of Mianite S1 with the objective of being the last one standing, and Jordan and Tom in a hardcore world where of they die, the world dies
Death’s Scale of Justice :: Headcanon for cEmeraldduo in the Mianite universe! :D Inspired by when Philza showed up at Jordan’s witch hut, Phil is a priest for Ruxomar Ianite and former friend of Spark lookin for his goddess when he disappears. Also includes the backstory for cTechno where he unearths Bellinite, the god of anarchy, revenge and blind vengeance (aka the Blood God) from the depths of the S1 World
(Unnamed HC 10 Worldbuilding) :: WIP, expansion and theory on the story behind Magic Mountain in Hermitcraft season 10 using Joel's temple to Lizzie and Mumbo's mined lab lore as a baseline. no tag yet but is in reference to the mosaic of lizzie and jim on art blog + canary in the iron mine painting
Original Projects
non est ad astra, mollis e terra via :: Multiverse lore dev, work in this is used mostly in reference to MCYT fanon, but also is a project i'm using for some OC stuff (includes worldbuilding for my Mianite RPG characters Ophi and Aurelia, and concepts for the Nightmare Spectrum)
For Good Measure :: Story of my stream sona, Sir Monty Jones aka where he was prior to becoming the wanderer of the outerverse. Takes place prior to Arcadia of Avalon and is basically monty python but if they were my ocs and silly knights and also minecraft
Arcadia of Avalon :: Original Arthurian retelling but i don't gaf I just think knights deserve to be stupid, gay and full of angst as the gods intended. Mostly an excuse to write my rarepairs and do some funky worldbuilding where the land of King Arthur is a war over the power of creation. i can't explain it better than that but trust me its a good one
Wide Awake in the Witching Hour :: Current set of lore and story for my sona Sir Monty Jones. Continues where For Good Measure leaves off and is, relatively time wise, lines up to the current timeline of HC10 and the Mianite RPG

Jlaire Week Ask Game
Yeah, I went ahead and answered all of them. :P
Light and Darkness - What got you into Jlaire in the first place and what makes it one of if not your favorite ship?
I’m pretty sure I shipped them from the very first episode. First, we’ve been introduced to Jim, who is like the sweetest character ever. So when we saw him literally drooling over Claire, we know she has to be special.
It doesn’t take much time for them to interact and I remember loving that scene because I didn’t know there was so much Spanish in the show (at least in the first season). Both that interaction and the one just before the audition show they’re actually interested in each other and I’ve loved their dynamic from the beginning.
I think they somehow remind me of my own characters, Zem and Aury, since he’s the anxious one and she has to help him (even though Aury is way more short-tempered than Claire).
Romeo and Juliet- What's your favorite Jlaire moment form Trollhunters?
There are many good ones to choose. I love when she discovers his secret, the dance in the hill and when he reaches out to help her when she makes that mega-portal. They really care about each other and I think the best part is how we’re able to see their relationship flourish during the seasons.
Beauty and the Beast- What's your favorite Jlaire moment from Wizards?
The picnic, for sure. I think we should have seen more Jlaire interactions when he was a half Troll. I loved all the scenes where Claire gets to protect Jim, showing how much she has improved as a sorceress, but there’s something about them being able to relax and have an actual date.
Tragic Love - What's your Jlaire heartbreaking moment in the series?
Even though Jim knowing he’s not going to survive if they go back to the present is a close one, I have to say when Claire finds his soul wandering over the Killahead Bridge in the Shadow Realm. I’m a hopeless romantic and what breaks my heart is that “being close but still too far from each other” if you know what I mean.
My Romeo - What's your favorite Jlaire quote from Trollhunters?
From Hero of a 1000 faces: “This is the worst day of my life.” “That’t the real Jim.” It’s so funny, but also shows how much she’s gotten to know him.
100 Life times - What's your favorite Jlaire Quote from Wizards?
That’s a tough one. I liked the “I'd date you for a hundred lifetimes, Jim Lake.”… until the movie came out. So I guess: “But I've fought across time and space to bring you back.” Because of the same reason that scene is so heartbreaking to me.
Toby dating Advices - What's your advice for Jim that would help with him Claire
Actually, I think things worked out quite well. I would have advised him to be braver but he actually ended up being it, so...
Mary Dating Advice- what's your advice for Claire that would help her with Jim.
Actually, I think things worked out quite well.
time and Space - What's your Aus for Jim and Claire relationship or what's your favorite Au for them?
I have a soft spot for Beauty and the Beast kind of stories, so most of my Aus revolve around that. I seriously thing Troll Jim was underused and I’d have liked to see more of them as a couple, like travelling to New Jersey. That’s why I had to write about that and why Lights and Shadows of Camelot is the culmination of it. BTW, I’ve written a lot about Jlaire in my fanfics, if you’re interested 😊
Shadowhunter - What's your favorite headcanons for Jlaire?
They send messages all the time, checking out the other is okay. Jim makes Claire her favorite cookies and she takes him on dates using portals to visit new places.
If you have any more questions or want me to elaborate about anything, don't be afraid to ask!
Sadly, I won't be able to do any prompts, but I'm gonna share some Jlaire art I have around and you can check out my fanfics for more Jlaire content!:
-New Jersey: A brief story of what happened in the journey to New Jersey that had place during the season 2 of 3Below.
-Awakening: A novelized version of the 11th episode of the third season, "Jimhunters". Includes original new scenes.
-The Arrival: Final chapter of "New Jersey", connecting the story with "Wizards".
-Light through yonder window: After being attacked by Nomura, Jim is brought to the hospital. Claire decides she has to go and stay by his side. Tells what happened between the episodes 'Claire and Present Danger' and 'Battle of Two Bridges' and a couple of things more.
-Waiting: Jim has entered the Darklands. Claire and Toby will have to act quickly and not fall into despair.
-Butterflies and Christmas Jlaire, from Arcadian Nights.
-Lights and Shadows of Camelot: Claire has just discovered her magic powers and goes to Camelot so Morgana can teach her. One night, she'll meet the Trollhunter.

Jlaire Week Ask Game
It's the first time I do this. XD
Light and Darkness - What got you into Jlaire in the first place and what makes it one of if not your favorite ship?
What attracted me was the way they loved each other, It's beautiful to see them together and they are perfect for each other, a beautiful ship. In short, it is a romance that shows many examples.
Romeo and Juliet- What's your favorite Jlaire moment form trollhunters
There are many incredible moments, I have two favorite moments,But if I chose one, it would be when Jim and Clara They dance on the hill and when I see that scene my heart screams, cries And it melts because of so much love.
Beauty and the beast- What's your favorite Jlaire moment form Wizards
Maybe it sounds sad but I like it when Clara finds Jim's soul in the dark lands and Jim asks Clara for help while he transforms into Jim troll beast. And another beautiful moment is when Clara and Beast Jim fight to stop him from being controlled by Arturo and he regains consciousness and turns to stone, until Jim becomes human And hug Clara. Oh God, They are my favorite scenes.
Tragic Love - What's your Jlaire heartbreaking moment in the Series.
When Jim becomes a troll, the end of Rise of the Titans and when he returns to the future to talk to Clara about auditioning for Romeo and Juliet. Not anymore please... 😔, they deserved more
My Romeo - What's your favorite Jlaire Quote form trollhunters
My favorite date is when Jim goes to Clara's house because I invite him to the barbecue and he ends up dividing himself into many Jim's, I will say that apart from being my favorite episode of Trollhunters, it ends well Because Clara tells him that he is her boyfriend.
100 Life times - what's your favorite Jlaire Quote form Wizards
My favorite quote in Wizards is when they go to the forest to prevent Jim from being captured by Arthur. That part when they meet again and Clara hugs him is something beautiful. 😻
Toby dating Advices - what's your advice for Jim that would help with him Claire
Like Toby, I'm bad at giving advice to my friends. But if she were good I would tell her to bring him a detail, yes yes and make it romantic and that's it XD
Mary Dating Advice- what's your advice for Claire that would help her with Jim.
That... Love Jim and encourage him to do fun things or something you like.
time and Space - what's your Aus for Jim and Claire relationship or what's your favorite Au for them.
Probably the beauty and the beast AU, It looks very good on them, the AU of Some history of studios Ghibli Related to love or an AU of Disney's Zorro🤔.
Shadowhunter - what's your favorite headcanons for Jlaire.
I don't think I have 😟, it can't be.😭, although I probably have one but I don't remember in this moment.

Note
We all Know that a bit of Jim's Personality and mental health was Damaged when he changed into a troll outside of getting Stronger.
even after he return back to his humanity.
but what it Comes to how Claire changed what your headcanons about it.
Oh, that's a nice one!
I feel that Claire has gone through a lot of traumatic experience herself. First, her brother was kidnapped and trapped inside the Darklands (she is actually the first member of the team whose family suffered from the supernatural) and she definitely felt helpless, useless and guilty. That's a lot of stress. Then there was dealing with Shadow magic which uses negative emotions as a fuel (forcing negativity isn't good for mental health for sure). Morgana's possession was damaging to Claire's soul for sure. Then there was fear that shadows may consume her in Wizards and seeing Jim suffering from the onyx shard and still not being able to do a thing (which ended with Jim turning into mind-controlled beast troll and dying after regaining his sanity).
My headcanon is that Claire has progressed so much with her shadowmancy because of all the stress and negativity she lived through as shadow magic is dependent on negative emotions - and Claire basically had a rollercoaster of those through the entire Wizards series.
And yes, there is my favorite headcanon of Jim and Claire having the soul link after reaching each other souls in the Shadow Realm which survives despite the time reset.
As for another more positive change, I feel that Claire learned to depend on other people more (like back during the beginning of the third season of Trollhunters she hid her problem with possible possession, but later become more willing to cooperate). And she also seemingly had heart-to-heart with her parents and made them respect her decisions (I feel that initially it was just a silent rebellion from her part).

Will literally pay to roleplay with someone who can do a decent Draal impression (Status: CLOSED)
That title is not clickbait, it literally means what it says. I'm looking to roleplay with someone who can do an impression of the character Draal from the Trollhunters/Tales of Arcadia TV series and I'm willing to pay the volunteer $50 for it. Specifically, they'll get $25 immediately, and $25 at the RP's conclusion.
However, for your convenience, please allow me to clarify a few things up-front:
* This is NOT an NSFW or romance/shipping-based in general type of roleplay; that isn’t really my thing. I'm more the action-adventure with a dash of mystery and character-development kind of guy.
* While I do have a general plot in mind, it is completely subject to change depending on what the volunteer is comfortable with; in other words, I'm willing to work with you to take into account how you usually prefer to pace things or if you have your own headcanon details you'd like to include to make this an enjoyable experience to both participants.
* If worried about literation, well, not to brag, hehe, but I think you'll find I've got seven years worth of roleplay and storytelling experience, and my narrative abilities are second to none ^^
* I’ll reserve the right to cancel the roleplay and keep the remaining half of the money if I'm kept waiting for more than two weeks during RP turns/responses. I understand if you're busy or have other stuff going on, but please understand in turn that if you make me wait for days, days and more days on end just to get like a sentence…well, that’s just not very considerate  :l
* I usually use Discord to RP, as I find it to be a quick and efficient means of communication while also having the perfect conditions for roleplaying when considering you can create servers and channels for organization. However, if the volunteer is more comfortable using a different format I'll gladly adapt accordingly :)
* I generally use PayPal, but if the volunteer uses a different payment method, that’s fine, all I humbly ask is that you walk me through it if I’m unfamiliar with it. * Upon contact and if you do wish to roleplay, I’ll give you one or two questions, mainly, a prompt I’ll ask you to respond to; this will just be a little practice-scenario which will allow you to showcase your impression of what you would do in said-scenario as Draal. This will demonstrate to me that you understand the character and aren’t just rushing into this for the $50 without even having seen the show.  Rightio, with all that established and out of the way, if you’re interested in taking this offer, or, if you just have questions, feel free to contact me directly here on Tumblr or send me a message to my Discord ID, “Gallifrey21#1012”. If I do get a volunteer I’ll probably edit or delete this post to signify the position’s been filled.  Thank you so much for your time, have a fantastic rest of your day :) ~HSeeker

My Rise of the Titans script notes
SPOILERS!
-Barbara and Jim reunion because obviously.
-Everybody getting home. Some things have changed. Others not.
-Yes, what Claire did was awesome and she leveled up and why nobody talks about that?
-Stricklake only keeps two babies: Walt Junior and Susie. a) Babies are cute and all, but they need a lot of work and attention. Don’t put this couple in charge on a hundred kids just for the visuals. b) Yep, NotEnrique was the one to chose Susie.
-Jim’s stuff is in his wardrobe because Barbara hoped he would come back soon.
-Strickler isn’t much of a cook. While Barbara at least tries, he prefers to eat in restaurants and take-aways.
-After the city being destroyed, every councilwoman would look for ways to protect the city even more.
-Claire’s relationship with her parents is my own headcanon, based on what she said in the series mixed with my own personal stuff and the first novel.
-Jim is now an expert in Troll food.
-Jim has been through a lot and they never talked about it! He was transformed! He had another body! He was a mix of two species! He couldn’t be in the sun or eat his favorite dishes!
-Steve and Krel are a little more friends now. Just a little.
-Zoe deserved a whole story.
-Blinky being a dad because he cares about Jim a lot.
-Jim enjoying cooking and human food again.
-Krel actually talking to Jim about making a new Amulet.
-Douxie and Nari time.
-People reacting about Troll Jim and him being normal again.
-Changeling Jim? Maybe... who knows? (leaves it open just in case).
-Visiting the old Arcadia/New Jersey Trolls because we deserve to know they’re okay.
-Also having a visual image of the new cave (it only took a quick Google search, seriously).
-Toby being worried about his best friend.
-The new Amulet being a mix of Troll, Akiridian and magic.
-After a good, nuanced and slow-paced 20 minutes or so, the action begins.
-Yes, I somehow put my little comic version of Eli coming back (the second part I didn’t uploaded).
-Jim breaking down because obviously.
-Douxie and Aja reunion.
-Had some fun looking for new spells for Douxie.
-If they could defeat “god” Morando, they can defeat a Titan no problem.
-The Fire Titan is still in China, but in a volcanic region (thanks again to a quick Google search).
-Douxie and the Wizard Underground v.s. the Earth Titan, the Akiridions and Creepslayerz v.s. the Ice Titan and the Trollhunters and their many friends v.s. the Fire Titan. If you’re not going to spend time in character relationships, just make three big armies.
-Douxie apologizing to Zoe and giving her the chance of an adventure together.
-Yes, male Akiridions have the babies.
-Reunions with lots of old friends.
-Toby geeking in the New Jersey Trollmarket.
-Stuart being inside the robot with Varvatos so he can fix it.
-Steve wishing Jim doesn’t die (character development).
-Creepslayerz forever.
-Jim needs Excalibur to fight the Titans, but he misses Daylight.
-Wizard Underground and Douxie in brooms.
-The Arcane Order isn’t exposed, but buried inside the Titan’s chests.
-Douxie’s magic guitar.
-Nari doesn’t want violence. They’ve failed. The Earth lost the balance between magic and mortal a lot of time ago. She wants to speak to her brothers.
-The Titans have to go to different places to form a triangle of energy that would wake up Chronos, their father, so he can restore Earth to a primal state.
-Every Titan has a special attack or two so nobody can get close to it.
-Of course, Charlemagne is the one to read more of Merlin’s Grimoire to translate it.
-Nobody has to fight Bellroc, Skrael or Nari in a one-on-one.
-Nari has the power to transport her brothers to the Lull Chamber from time to time so they can think more about their decissions.
-Claire uses all her energy to transport Bellroc, as they are the strongest Titan.
-And yes, Bellroc is still a “they”.
-Strickler is injured but he doesn’t die. He promised that to Barbara.
-Epic robot/Titan fight because that was cool.
-Toby falling so Jim thinks he has lost both him and Claire.
-Flashbacks with little Toby and Jim because we deserve them.
-Nari manages to convince her brothers getting into Bellroc’s mind, just like they did before with her.
-Nomura still dies.
-Open ending with the Arcane Order. How can they heal the world?
-A part of the armies died.
-White-haired Claire.
-Jim and Claire reciting their lines from Romeo and Juliet (the balcony scene).
-Jim gives Excalibur to Steve and goes to get Daylight back.
-Troll, Akiridion and wizard funeral where Nari says goodbye to Douxie.
-“Go fill the world with magic.”
-Stricklake wedding.
-Jim’s speech over the celebration.

It has been brought to my attention that a lot of my mutuals are not familiar with the Tales of Arcadia series, which means about 90% of my posts must be near unintelligible to them. In order assist them in deciphering some of my madness, here’s a brief rundown of the main protagonists in the series:
Jim Lake Jr.:
Tumblr media
A Good Boi
Loves his mum and takes good care of her after his deadbeat father ran off
Chef Skills
Chivalrous and polite, but also kind of timid at first
Has the most character growth
Actually feels like a real teenager, but not in an irritating way
Has a cool set of magic armor and a totally wicked sword
Gets turned into a half-troll for a little while and somehow that made him 10 times more attractive to the fandom, but honestly I like him either way.
10/10 Would adopt him as my son
Toby Domzalski:
Tumblr media
The Ultimate Bro
Always has Jim’s back
Dork with bad teeth and a heart of gold
Is frequently the comedic relief, but also a genuinely good character
Optimistic and cheerful, but will totally chew you out if you mess with his friends
Has a magic warhammer
Not all of his jokes stick the landing, but I found him legitimately funny most of the time
Is probably the most fun to hang out with
Likes minerals and video games
9/10 Would be BFFs with him
Claire Nunez:
Tumblr media
Girlfriend of the Year every year
Has a really good arc, but doesn’t really get any noteworthy defining personality traits until Wizards
Cute and Full of Rage
Loyal and protective
Was an actress before she became a Trollhunter so she’ll randomly quote/reference Shakespeare
Uses shadow magic and is a really cool parallel to one of the main antagonists
Latina and probably at least a little Catholic (please just let me have this headcanon)
Has a wholesome and loving romantic relationship with Jim that doesn’t get in the way of the bigger plot
8/10 Would have coffee with her and talk about hair care routines
Aja Tarron:
Tumblr media
Not From Around Here, you might say
A literal Queen--no seriously, she’s the queen of an entire planet
But also just a Queen in every other respect
Has four arms, so she definitely gives great hugs
Curious and enthusiastic, but will also Kill You if you touch her little brother
Aptly described as a “Ninja-Kicking Warrior Angel” by her human boyfriend (also Staja is OTP, I’m sorry but they are just Too Precious)
Has a protractor that turns into a spear or a shield as needed
Hiding from a fascist dictator who overthrew her parents and took over her planet
10/10 Would play frisbee with her
Krel Tarron:
Tumblr media
Aja’s little brother and resident tech genius. Also probably my second favorite protagonist
Voiced by Diego Luna and that’s why I can’t bring myself to watch Rogue One and see Luna’s character die
Smart Lad who knows he’s Smart but is usually good about not flaunting it
Acts cold and disinterested but is secretly loving and sentimental
Scary when angered
Also a disk-jockey in his spare time
There was that one time where he Flossed, but I think the fandom has since forgiven him for that
His human disguise is a Latino and homeboy has to deal with a lot of racism and xenophobia for it--God bless America, amirite 😒
10/10 Would discuss music with him
Hisirdoux “Douxie” Casperan:
Tumblr media
THE BEST BOI
Looks like a Punk, is actually a Bean
Selfless, compassionate, and loving
Everybody’s big brother
Is over 900 years old so you can bet he’s seen a lot of crap in his time
Has a shapeshifting dragon-kitty for a best friend
✨Magic✨
Has the most poignant character arc
Emotionally vulnerable and in dire need of a hug
Is a gifted musician who plays guitar and writes his own rock music
Gets an adorable Bean Sister at the end of Wizards
Legally cannot say frick
1000/10 Would hold him tight and kiss his forehead and tell him he’s doing wonderfully

Thoughts on Rott
I’m not very active because of time, but I really need to put this out. So now that everyone has had their rants on rott… It’s my turn.
A reminder that all I’m going to talk about, is simply my opinion on the matter. Oh, and this will be a pretty long text.
ROTT SPOILERS(I guess)
I’m not even gonna talk about how OOC the characters were in the movie, I think other profiles already did a pretty good explanation of that, and I actually expect it from a movie.
I’d like to talk about resettings and about how as a writer myself (at least in my native tongue) I swear I’ll never use a timeline resetting as an ending in any canon fiction of mine.
To begin with, resetting being used as a resolution, an ending, is by concept disrespectful.
First, it disrespects all characters’ arcs.
Everything every character went through, their growth, their pain, their victories, is completely thrown at the garbage. It means nothing anymore because all of them went back to the start, none of it ever happened and there is no way in canon to know if it will happen the same way again.
I don’t know about you who is reading this but a big part of the reason I follow a series is for character development. That was the one thing in toa I was always proud to affirm it was chef’s kiss. Well, none of this exists anymore, jokes on me.
So, my second point: Ending with a resetting disrespects the viewer.
I think it is bad enough when you waste two hours of your life watching a movie, for the resetting to happen at the end. But then it was only two hours. Rott was a movie, but it was a part of a 5 years franchise. 5 years that we spent waiting for new stories to come, to see our favourite characters grow, come back or even die. All the engagement, happiness, and other emotions we felt while following these same characters were completely meaningless when the franchise ends with “And so we are back to the beginning”. I think it is even worse when they complete it with “and now everything is different and you don’t know what is going to happen… But we won’t tell you how”.
The disrespect doesn’t even end there for me lol . Besides the “So, and it was all for… nothing” feeling, I think the specific way it was done in toa affects it on another level.
Trollhunters was a comfort tv show for me, I found it in a very difficult time of my life and have been rewatching it for fun in stressful weeks.
I saw someone commenting “how can I enjoy the rewatching if I know in the end none of this ever matters?”. That is my problem with the specific way they used it. It affects my rewatches. Maybe it is still too early, but everytime I think about rewatching season 1, I realize there is no reason to do it. And not because I already watched it several times (thanks anxiety), but because all of this was undone and maybe never even happened.
I never expected an ending would ruin a whole franchise for me and I followed Steven Universe weekly. Worst case scenario, I thought we would have had a weak ending that could easily be forgotten, or continued in our fics. We would lose some characters, like we’ve lost Draal, but when we revisited them in past seasons they would still be there.
Revisiting past seasons now just tastes bitter.
I see Jim riding his bike on episode 1, I see Strickler with his character arc, Steve that has grown so much as a person.. And then I remember it was all for nothing. All of it was erased and, canonically, they will always be on square one.
I saw someone today saying “It is worse than ‘it was all a dream’ ”, and that is it. “It was all a dream” is already a disrespectful trope, this was worse.
If you are still here, I'm sorry, there is more to this rant. I won’t be repeating the disrespect thing though, I think I’ve made my point.
There is another aspect of the resetting that I really want to talk about.
Have you ever watched Dragon Ball? Yes, guys, I’m that old.
Dragon Ball was known for the trope of reviving characters. We always used it as an example to criticize this trope.
Reviving characters out of nowhere or with frequency takes the weight out of a character’s death. The spectator doesn’t care anymore when they see someone die, because they will come back in the end, and you feel that the writers take killing people very lightly because of that.
Difference between Reviving Characters and Resetting Timeline as an ending is that Reviving Characters can be good if used with caution. Resetting Timeline can’t, and that affected writing in Rott.
I found it strange how so many deaths felt light there, and to me the explanation is: they knew in the end it wouldn’t matter, so they didn’t need to put that much weight into it. “If none of this ever happened, I can kill whoever I want however I want.”
Which takes me to my last point of “Ending with Reset Timeline is bad by concept”.
When you know you will reset a whole world to the start, you can do any crazy thing to the plot or the characters because you don’t have consequences from that. Which, to me, explains the “wtf” feeling a lot of the fandom got while watching so many OOC scenes and silly situations during the movie. From a fandom who was waiting for an ending for more than a year, it is really disappointing.
Now, of course I’m not saying any of this was done on purpose, or with malicious intent. I think the writers had very good intentions, we know there were crew there who worked on other seasons of TOA. I even get the concept of “the adventure will continue forever”. I just think they forgot to read the fandom room.
Anyway, I really wanted to share my feelings about the “Resetting Timeline as an ending” trope (?) because I don’t think the issues here are limited to TOA. All points T made are pretty general and I got it from all the works I’ve seen using this “solution”. I’ll advocate any day that this is a lazy and disrespectful solution, no matter who uses it or where it is used. Unless, of course, you do give me the whole franchise rewritten after the resetting, but that ain’t ever gonna happen.
I’ll take from TOA the amazing artists and storyboarders I found out here. The stricklake discord that gave me so much joy over the last two years and let me meet great people. Even the screenshots and beautiful scenes from the movie because the art was Amazing! That part I'm taking with me. Oh, Good Aaron, of course, cause now I’ll be following his work wherever he goes because this man is amazing. Actually, only him to make a good situation out of this. As he himself said, all headcanon is now canon.
So I’ll be disregarding the existence of rott, as I disregard the existence of the last airbender, take the rest of the franchise with me and any post-Wizards/rott rewriting fics I’ll find. And if I don’t find one I’ll write one. Nothing can be worse than resetting timeline ending.
I hope someday I can revisit the old seasons without this bitter taste, though.
That being said, I’m open to fic suggestions. Rott AU's, Rott erasement, post-wizards AUs, you name it. Do you need a reader? Send it to me.
And I’ll be doing stricklake month, once I recover from this.
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

Trollhunters Book (2015) the weird book that would be the start of Tales of Arcadia
Tumblr media
Trollhunters book. Read it and... what was all that?
Some spoilers below the cut.
So many things were different from the series we know and watch. It has a lot of horror and it was suppose to be a live action series adaptation of the book (Hey, Hollywood, if you want to do a live action remake of Trollhunters then just base it on the book. We already have the cartoon don’t want you ruining it like Rise of the Titans did) There were a lot of differences from the show i know, but it also had somethings that would be told differently from the book.
Instead of his mom, Jim lives with his dad James “Jim” Sturges Sr (And Jim’s last name isn’t Lake but Sturges which is actually important) who is a paranoid and traumatized man after losing his brother Jack Sturges in 1969 under a bridge and seeing some monster. Oh, and everyone lives in San Bernardino not Arcadia Oaks (So i guess it’s Trollhunters: Tales of San Bernardino?) And Barbara was the one that walked out (The book never gave Jim’s mom a name, but going with the series i chose to still call her Barbara) Oh, and Jim’s dad invented the Excalibur Calculator Pocket (Jim wielding Excalibur was foreshadowed as far as the book)
Jim is short. Like really short. Claire is taller than him (Okay am i the only bugged by that? Why didn’t the series let Claire be taller than Jim? Where are the aus where Claire is taller than Jim?) Tobias is called Tubby or Tub not Toby, and he’s Jewish, and he still lives with his grandma (The book doesn’t call her Nana) Claire is Scottish, apparently her birthday is May 2nd which is a day after Jim’s (Which is May 1st, but the series changed his birthday to October 10th) and her baby brother Enrique doesn’t exist in the book.
Steve is still Steve just more brutal and can get away with everything, his last name is Jorgensen-Warner, and is a Changeling (Though the show was going to make Steve a Changeling like in the book. But they changed their minds, as shown in episode 7 To Catch a Changeling, and his troll form was reworked into Draal. Now i have to wonder if Changeling Steve would’ve been better than what happened to him in the movie)
Blinky is an octopus like troll, with eight eyes (Four of them are blind) Aaarrrgghh is a female here with black fur. Gunmar the Black is red even though they call him the Black (I guess Gunmar the Red didn’t sound good) And the history of trolls is very different from the show. Also Killahead Bridge is called Killaheed Bridge.
The school actually has more teachers than the three in the show (Coach Lawrence still exists in the book) There is: Principal Cole, Miss Pinkton the math teacher, Miss Leach the drama teacher (Miss Leach probably later became Miss Janeth in the show) Senor Uhl doesn’t exist in the book. There are other characters like Professor Lempke (Someone i’m gonna talk more about later) Tubby’s dentist is named Dr. Papadapolous and not Dr. Muelas (Or as i like to call him. Guillermo Del Toro the Dentist) Sergeant Ben Gulager (Probably later became Officer Brennan)
There are different types of trolls like Nullhullers, who can vomit out all of their organs save their hearts to become faster. If i had to learn about this, you should suffer too. But i won’t say how Changelings replace their baby counterparts. It’s something you have to read yourself but it’s really really disturbing.
The Amulet of Daylight isn’t called that, and the Amulet is a Medallion that translates troll (So it doesn’t give you a suit of armor, or gives you a sword to fight trolls) The Trollhunters are different too. It’s the Amulet of Daylight that picks a troll to become the Trollhunter, with Jim being the first human Trollhunter. That is not the case here in the book. The Trollhunters were always humans and they fought the trolls that kept eating them. The Sturges are one of the family of Trollhunters, and towards the end of the book it’s revealed Claire is one too. And Merlin and Morgana have nothing to do with the book.
Jack Sturges was an interesting character to me and it makes me mad that he was one of the characters that wasn’t in the show. Hey i’m just saying, they could’ve made him be Barbara’s missing old brother if they didn’t want James in the series.
There were moments from characters that i always found strange and surprised the book didn’t confirm that.
Starting with Steve not Palchuk but instead Jorgensen-Warner. Now the book reveals he’s a Changeling cause Tub touched him with a horseshoe and Claire kills him. Some of Jim’s classmates would be among the kids that begins to disappear. And then later Claire gets taken as well. The book never confirms or denies it, but i believe Steve was the reason Claire and some of his classmates were taken. I say this cause when Claire tells Steve off (Which by the way was an awesome scene and i think she also Rule Number 3 him) and he walks away angry and then later she gets kidnapped. I found that weird and too convenient. And now that i’m thinking about it. Steve was bullying Jim and Tub before Claire tells him off. Thinking about it i think if Claire didn’t interfered then Steve would’ve picked Jim and/or Tub to get eaten by Gunmar. But that’s just my headcanon.
Another character i want to talk about is Professor Lempke, who i feel was split into two characters in the show, Strickler and Nomura. Lempke is an arrogant man who is also working to restore the Killaheed Bridge. Doesn’t that familiar? The book never confirms it, but it’s possible that Lempke was a Changeling too and was restoring Killaheed for Gunmar. Why else would he talk about how great the bridge is and went through all the trouble to get it to San Bernardino? And when Gunmar was freed and fighting, Lempke, as Jim said, was overjoyed at the battle and then after the battle Lempke disappeared. That last one honestly seemed like a sequel hook.
Given how somethings were i feel like, if Tales of Arcadia didn’t happen, then the book would’ve become a series. Trollhunters was from Jim’s point of view, and i feel like if we got the book series instead of the cartoon, then there could’ve been spin off books sequels and prequel. Maybe Trollhunters spin offs one from Tub’s point of view and one from Claire’s point of view, Trollhunters prequel on Jack when he was taken, Trollhunters sequels that may had them dealing with Lempke and possible other enemies and finding other Trollhunters. Who knows.
But all and all. The book was a good read and it really shows what would influence the show. Truth by told reading the book made me lose my appetite for a while.

General reaction time! Again, this will contain HEAVY SPOILERS FOR TALES OF ARCADIA AND RISE OF THE TITANS. SKIP THIS IF IT GOT THROUGH YOUR FILTER.
So, let's begin. Firstly, as beautifully visually executed as the movie was, I think we all could tell the full original team wasn't working on this part of the TOA project. Setting that aside for a moment though. Trust me on this.
I was SHOCKED at the animation quality this time around. TOA has almost always had pristine graphics, and a movie budget took things to a while new level. Well done, TOA animation team!! 🥰🥰🥰
The MagiScience Camelot. Can I live there? Also, do they live there?? It's sort of unclear, did everyone just decide after the end of Wizards to form their own little bubble or???
I'm curious as to whether the time loop could result in a sort of 'duplication glitch' for the Amulet. I'm putting my speculative stuff in yet another post, because WOW that ending gave my lil' brain a lot to work with
There were so many fantastic scenes intermixed with the not-so-great points. The Best Man scene. That whole sequence in which there's some Blaaarghy hinting sandwiched into the scene between the couples comforting each other. I just 🥺 I know there are a few dull points here, but that whole ten minute span is just so on point. I really wish that accuracy to the characterizations carried all the way through.
I really, REALLY need to know how much time passed between Wizards and ROTT. Really really. Like I know the kids were 15-16 at the start of season 1, and 16-17 by the end of season two, but from there time becomes quite nebulous. I'm speaking in age specifically for our human characters here, as we still have no idea about how the Akiridion, Wizard-Immortal and Trollish life cycles actually work. Like I get that now they're later teens to early adults in age, but considering some of the err, plot choices, I think it's important to know?
I'd love a series, a comic, hell a set of shorts even, where Steve gets some main character time. I really wasn't a fan of him being sidelined the whole time. Give me my Creepslayerz please, Mr. Netflix.
I've started to look at this less like a movie and more like Predacons Rising, a made-for-TV movie/special finale episode. Except, knowing DreamWorks, we also may be seeing the beginnig iteration of another "[name here] of Berk" style of different series, set in different points in time. ESPECIALLY with that ending.
Speaking of, I know a lot of folks were quite upset with the end. I was too for a while, but those braincells just keep on bouncing around, and I have an inkling that however they decide to show us the potential/alternate timeliness, we'll see them somehow.
I'm actually quite excited about the idea of Trollhunter!Toby. From the beginning, I always thought he'd turn out to unknowingly be half-Troll or a changeling or something. Boy has a natural inclination for stones and crystals, the teeth issues, his stature and body-shape, hell, he seems at home in the scenes in Trollmarket throughout the series.
Please, Mr. Netflix, show us what his armor looks like? 👉👈🥺
Okay, picking back up on this not being the original creative team. There were some significant missed opportunities here, not only to draw on previous character development [Steve is a knight, Toby could have used his hammer instead of the glowing sticky-magic, etc.] but also to draw on ideas from The Book that would have gone REALLY well here! Lol and here I was hoping for the "what counts as a bridge" scene. 🤡
For those who don't know, Trollhunters in its original form is a book that reads much like a movie. It features a much different Jim, a much different many characters in fact. There were actually a few references I did catch! If you haven't had a chance to read it and you'd like a palate cleanser, READ IT. Oh it's so good I so wish more people read the book-
Aaaaanyway, back to the topic. The reason I'm looking at this more like a special than a movie is because is feels like it should have been a special. Or a miniseries even, like Wizards. This was a bit much to pack into a <2h timeframe.
BUT, I also feel like they could have waited to spring a plot like this on us until they had a concrete "next steps" plan. If they had, say, separated the beginning of the loop from the film, and used it as the beginning of a Trollhunter!Toby [Insert media type here] teaser/trailer, I have a feeling I'd be more happy with it. Also, why replace Anton's voicework for the audition speech? That I am truly upset with. The loop itself is actually quite intriguing, though.
All in all, I'm honestly pretty satisfied with the film. It was brutal, don't get me wrong, and for future reference I'd like to know how much it cost Netflix to get it a Y7 rating. That said, the parts that were done well were done VERY well. Im interested to see, when the series crops back up, what the true plan is moving forward, but until then my name is my bond. I make TOA headcanons, and that's exactly what I'm going to do. Thank you all for getting on this roller coaster, it was one hell of a ride and I hope we get to do it again soon 😁

Same ROTT anon. Hello! Yeah, the plot was certainly something. SPOILERS ABOUND! I just didn't understand why Jim went back in time and reset the timeline so that now Toby is the Trollhunter when Jim being the Trollhunter shaped the series. LIKE UNBECOMING WAS AN ENTIRE EPISODE DEDICATED TO SHOWING JIM THAT HE WAS INDEED DESTINED TO BE THE TROLLHUNTER. It felt so disrespectful to me as a fan of all 3 shows that the staff decided to erase all the character growth and development we were invested in just so what? And one more thing... Douxie becomes a MASTER WIZARD by the end of Wizards and he has this whole tender moment with Merlin and that amounted to NOTHING in ROTT. Sorry for venting. I did try to look at the positives but ugh. Idk what to think about the film.
No problem, vent away! You're definitely right in what you say. I wasn't that invested in Jim's story myself, and yet even I felt that his decision to, well, choose not to be the Trollhunter was weird. That changes the entire timeline of the show. Why did he do it in the first place, when he spent the entire movie mourning the fact that he's not the trollhunter anymore? Will he have the same relationship with Blinky and Arrgh in this timeline? Will Toby be the one to turn into half-troll, get encased in crystal and fall into the past, with Douxie, Claire (for some reason) and Steve following after?
I don't know, I think they just came up with something to "wrap it up" and then just went with it, without really thinking about what consequences this would have in the timeline and the whole meaning of the show. And yeah, erasure of character development annoys me too, very much so, so I understand you.
And Douxie... yeah. It kinda felt as if he was there to do a couple cool stuff and have, once again, everything taken from him. He'd already lost Merlin, but at least he'd found himself. Now he loses Archie (for no goddamn reason like, I'd choose my familiar wizard over my barely-accepting-of-my-choices father anytime, rip to Archie but I'm different) and then Nari, and barely even reacts to now being completely alone. Archie chose his father - the father that Douxie, his familiar with whom he'd spent centuries with, had no idea even existed. I'm sorry, what?
And all that is then supposed to not matter because Jim goes back to change it all... I don't know. In general, I'm not a fan of "showing death and then using time-travel to undo it so everyone lives but we got away with showing angst over death scenes" thing in any film/show I watch. And that confused me even more. What was the entire point of the film even?
Anyway, I totally feel you. You're not wrong or invalid to feel frustrated over it. It's a shame they did the fans dirty with it, especially knowing it was the very last installment in the franchise. One thing I can say, is that when those feelings wash over, headcanons and fanfiction will always be there, and you can freely choose to ignore this film's existence.

I am literally sitting here suddenly consumed by a star trek trollhunters crossover. Because look. Let's just. Everyone in the trollhunter team and their general loved ones are immortal. Okay. Okay. Magic and science are great. Everyone is alive. Because I said so.
Now look. If you think. That with the whole being on good terms with (Steve and Eli being married to Queen Aja) akiridian 5 doesn't contribute to the birth of starfleet and the federation. You are wrong. Because it does. It changes first contact sure. But it's fine. We can roll with this. Everyone is involved. Honestly. I'd like to think the bean team is directly involved in the creation of starfleet. Krel and Claire becoming buddies is where the conception of the transporters comes from. They're both good with portals and wormholes. Barbara was the one training the first roll out of chief medical officers. Strickler teaches earth history at starfleet. When Barbara ends up deciding she wanted to go off world and actually be on a star ship he supports his wife and sometimes he takes a leave of absence to go be with her on the ship she's on. Toby is doing something with rocks cause look he would be the utmost excited to study space rocks from other planets and stuff. Jim was directly responsible for the replicators. Though he still holds that his own actual cooking is better but the replicators wouldn't be half as good as they are if not for him. He probably still cooks somewhere. Be it starfleet or on ship where he gets special privileges and has his own kitchen. I'm not sure what Claire's doing honestly. I said her and Krel create transporters. But aside from that. I'm sure zoe is doing some tech shit. Look really if magic is like. Known and abundant as far as that all the people with magic proper (Douxie, Claire, Zoe) are like. Teaching or using magic for different things.
Darci is absolutely still alive. And Mary too cause like. I can. I feel like Mary would be some kind of communications officer. Not sure for Darci. Nomura probably runs a museum be it on campus or even off. But she's big into history and artifacts too. That or she's part of a crew where she can explore ruins and shit of like other planets. Learn the cultures and especially if those planets are no longer inhabited. Recording and trying to keep the history alive. Museum knife mom okay. A lot of trolls stay underground but also. Space is dark. Aside from being planet side. For the most part. If they could find a method so trolls don't have to stay near a heartstone. They'd get a kick out of space.
The first time Jim does some kind of lecture or something at starfleet and Jim Kirk is in the class, there's this clown to clown communication going on. Like. They don't even realize it but it's there. Two Jim's. Both reckless as all hell. Neither one believes in a no win scenario. They'd both put themselves on the line for others. They're leaders. Jim Kirk isn't even aware he looks up to Jim Lake but he does. It's the pure of heart dumb of ass solidarity. Bones didn't want to be in space but he still joined starfleet and when he got to have a lecture taught by Barbara he nearly died. Barbara is the best and he openly looks up to her. Despite her bedside manner being better than his. He still thinks shes amazing. He's not sure about her husband though.
All I'm saying guys. Is trollhunters. In. Space. And yall im a star trek fan. Grew up watching with my mom but I was little and I don't remember like. Everything and I'm not super caught up on all the lore. Right now I'm working on what I know of tos and aos. But guys. Look. If anyone has stuff they want to add. Headcanons. Things for the other series. (cause team bean is gonna fucking live long and hella prosper okay) Douxie was nearly 1000 years old in the series if these guys can't make it several hundred years to be able to be around for multiple star trek series. Then. Something is wrong. Nah son. They out on space living their best lives. And again. I'm partial but I am sort of clinging to the aos timeline but you know.

Reaction to ‘Wizards’
There were some elements of Wizards that I was quite pleased with and others I found disappointing.
Here are some notes I took while watching it:
“I was busy,” says the guy who was ASLEEP.
Cuckoo clock in bookstore looks like Bular’s head.
Green Knight can teleport, confirming potential parallel character to Angor Rot and Tronos Madu, both yellow-eyed assassins with teleportation and tragic backstories (later confirmed, yes, there are parallels between this character and those two besides the visual one)
Jim always tips at the cafe; yup, that sounds like Jim
Gunmar saving Jim: irony. Is Jim going to go to the Gumm-Gumm camp now?
Confirmation that portrait was Arthur and Guinevere and she is “gone”, presumably by magic or killed by a troll - is she dead or did she just leave? (Later confirmed, dead)
Morgana’s name is carved on the tree under Arthur’s and Guinevere’s - was she in love with Guinevere too?
Is that Nari with Morgana and Guinevere? (Later confirmed, yes)
Stone doll Callista finds looks like Angor’s totems - same village? He said it was “Gunmar’s war” that destroyed it, and she says it was a human attack, but Angor might’ve seen it as a retaliatory attack by the humans which Gunmar’s actions had provoked?
Arthur being the one to cut off Morgana’s hand makes Merlin SLIGHTLY less of an asshole for using it in the Amulet, but a lot of this still could’ve been avoided if Merlin had been willing to shut up and listen.
Oh, except it wasn’t Arthur who cut off Morgana’s hand the first time anyway?
Episode 3 ends without Steve getting knocked on his back, so that scene must’ve been his sparring match with Lancelot in Episode 2 instead of keeping it an Episode 3 tradition (like how Zuko and Iroh hug in Episode 18 of each season of Avatar the Last Airbender)
Why would Douxie be grossed out at the idea of swimming naked? Swimsuits have only been around for, what, 80 years? Presumably it was a specific lack of desire to see Steve naked.
Neat take on the Lady of the Lake.
AAARRRGGHH used to have a triple set of horns - what happened to the other two? Receded, amputated, knocked off? Also, Gunmar says AAARRRGGHH is ‘holding back’ when they spar and has yet to win against him - if AAARRRGGHH was doing that on purpose, this supports my theory that he was debating how safe it was to stay on Gunmar’s side for some time before deserting.
Morgana possessed?
Angor Rot saved Morgana/recovers her body and gives a funerary-sounding blessing, showing he was sympathetic to humans before losing his soul
Oh, and Nari gave her the new hand
Wait, so who steals Angor’s soul in this timeline?
Called it on that servant guy being a Changeling - he appears in the background of, like, every scene that episode where they’re talking about Morgana using unexpected strategies to sneak into Camelot.
Wait, except his human form is an adult - so is he a polymorph? Or Familiars can be taken as adults but babies are easier to contain and have less ‘established personality’ to match after replacing them? Or has Morgana already been creating Changelings? AAARRRGGHH calls Jim “impure” when they meet in Dwoza, suggesting Gumm-Gumms already know what Changelings are, except Morgana wasn’t working with them yet
Is Callista going to be Deya? (Later confirmed, yes)
Show seems to be matching up with old theories about Deya being the first Trollhunter, confirming that the show, comics, and novels are all separate continuities (since comics and novels show pre-Deya Trollhunters).
Gumm-Gumm berserkers - mind-controlled or grit-shaka’d (talisman of “no fear”), to throw themselves into sunlight like that?
Steve seems ready to refer to any half-decent older man as his dad, like when he refers to Merlin as ‘Wizard-Dad’. Maybe it’s because I was watching Brooklyn 99 recently but I’m reminded of Jake Peralta.
Big Jim’s crystal neck protrusions look like Strickler’s knife collar back when I thought that was part of his body. Glowy lines look like Gunmar; tie-in to Gunmar born of a “corrupted Heartstone” since Jim is “corrupted” now?
Aw, Krel called Ricky his dad.
How did AAARRRGGHH fit through the HexTech door to the backroom?
“Cat and mouse” line cuts to a shot of Archie obviously imitating Nari (confirmed a few minutes later)
Toby has obviously seen Ghostbusters. “When someone asks you if you are a god, you say YES!”
Decoration in bookshop looks like Angor’s head.
Was that lightshow of Nari searching the world for Jim’s soul just a visual metaphor for her powers or did literally everyone on Earth see that?
“There’s a force neither of us can escape - gravity!” says the woman who can fly.
Morgana’s occasional echo-y voice in Trollhunters matches Bellroc and Skael - possession/magical-influence related?
So did Merlin have that book on him or did his body turn into the book?
Are all dragons fluffy and/or shapeshifters in this universe?
Might’ve been smarter to keep Merlin’s staff intact and destroy the Grimoire so the Arcane Order never knows where to find the Genesis Seals, just saying.
If Morgana didn’t become “the Eldritch Queen” until, like, IMMEDIATELY before Angor approached her (therefore days earlier at most in the unaltered timeline), how had he heard of her to seek her aid? Was he actually reaching out to the Arcane Order? At least this explains why he didn’t go to the Trollhunter for help - there was no Trollhunter to approach yet.
Big Jim ‘dies’ in the same pose as AAARRRGGHH in Trollhunters Season 1 and Draal in Unbecoming, both false death scenes, for five-second foreshadowing Jim was alive.
Mixed feelings about him being human again - like I’ve said, I didn’t think the Troll Jim subplot was well-executed but I also felt like, now that it’s been established, the show needs to stick with it. Since everything’s over I’m going to headcanon Jim having shapeshifting powers now and being able to switch between human and troll at will, he just didn’t think to try to do so on-camera.
Also, I feel like Jim’s relationship with Claire is once again completely overshadowing his relationship with Toby, instead of them being different kinds of relationships with equal weight.
Barbara is going to be pretty shocked when her human son shows up again. She and Strickler don’t appear at all in this series, even in cameo.
Maybe Jim’s not a troll anymore because, with Merlin and Morgana both dead, their magic is “broken” and that’s what was holding his transformation in place? Merlin’s through the potion, Morgana’s through the Changeling femur, both through the Amulet.
Is Jim still going back to New Jersey? Blinky’s got to, unless the trolls there have elected a new leader or they’re bringing the New Jersey Heartstone back to Arcadia.
Series ending scene also would work as the final scene of a movie, setting up a sequel hook even though it’s supposed to be over now.
Seems like wizards are long-lived and age really slowly? Possibly a “will not die but can be killed” situation, like vampires, or unicorns (at least in The Last Unicorn)
Additional thoughts after finishing the show and thinking for a while:
I don’t get how Morgana could end up with such a reputation among trolls - enough to have superstitions about her, seen when Dictatious objects to Usurna saying her name - when they only interacted with her for like a few days at most. I guess she made a pretty strong impression on Gunmar, who passed that on to everyone else? Or maybe she cultivated that reputation over time via the Changelings?
Speaking of the Changelings, does this mean that, while Morgana designed the process to create them, she doesn’t make each individual one? Otherwise she would’ve had to pre-make a bunch in the time between getting her new hand and being trapped in the Heartstone. Although, if she can steal Angor’s soul remotely (with the idea she was already trapped in the Heartstone when that happened), she can probably also make Changelings remotely.
I’m kind of sorry the Changelings got invented so quickly; I figured there would be some trial-and-error to that process.
How I think the Original Timeline went:
Morgana would’ve turned to the Arcane Order seeking magic allies, later in the day that gets changed when the time-travelers arrive. Possibly she seeks out Nari, specifically, remembering her from childhood.
Merlin then sees Morgana as the Future Threat and he or one of the knights (not Arthur) cut off her hand in the resulting fight.
Merlin makes the Amulet. It chooses Callista, who is still in Camelot’s dungeon at the time, and she agrees to fight Gunmar in exchange for her freedom.
She fully intending to go back on the deal and run for it, but then something-something-something and she learns her original name and saves the world anyway. Probably she’s the one who took down and imprisoned AAARRRGGHH in Dwoza, which inspired the other trolls there to follow her.
Morgana finds out about the Trollhunter shortly before Angor arrives to ask her for magic, which is why she orders him to hunt the Trollhunters down.
Arthur thinks Merlin killed Morgana and wants to avenge her, leading him to the Arcane Order for the original not-time-loop-prompted attack.
Show did a good job establishing and developing Douxie’s relationship with Merlin
Also, how did that bookshop end up a center of Merlin’s power? He’s only been in the modern world for a few months. Did he set a shop up off-camera while the trolls were travelling to New Jersey and the Akiridions were discovering Earth?
How did Ricky Blank lose his head, anyway? Can Hex Tech fix him? Krel says magic and Akiridion tech combine harmoniously.
