Tumblr media
First thing I should say is we woulda had so many more couple selfies if we had smart phones when we started dating.
No joke.
Because one of the obvious features of our dating life is that it was steeped in photography. And by "photography" I mean old school SLRs with detachable lenses, swappable filters, and camera straps. They were these bulky metal things dangling from our necks, resting somewhere near our tummies.
What can I say? That was just the look.
Anyway, we'd go together on these different adventures that were largely and wide ranging photo ops.
Photo ops?
Sure, adventuring downtown Seattle was one. The Seattle Center, another one. Any of the fairs like Puyallup or Monroe. They were all opportunities for photography that we indulged together.
It wasn't always photography, of course. But it was always adventuring. Mostly with starting points and no firm destination. We were in the habit from the very beginning to make it up as we went. We didn't actually mind where we wound up. The adventure was the point. Together was the point.
Tumblr media
And so we continued that tradition yesterday with a lazy morning followed by Indiana Jones & the Dial of Destiny at the Crest; a quick stop at the nearest GoodWill that we hadn't already checked out in the last day or two... which turned out to be that one on 8th in Ballard; a trip to Trader Joe's by the bridge that was quickly hijacked by a trip to PCC across the street that ended at a table on the roof enjoying orange creamsicles; a picnic Kimmer conjured for us (complete with picnic basket) on the waterfront in front The Expedia Group building at Smith Cove; a trip to South Lake Union for a Margarita that was hijacked by revisiting The Seattle Center, especially the fountain; and then, of course, South Lake Union and Tapster where Kimmer got her Margarita and I whipped through some fruit ciders.
It was a little after 930 by the time we got home after our adventure and, yes, a bunch of couple selfies.
Tumblr media
One thing I'll say, especially on days we revisit popular or significant locations from our lives or from our life together, there are a ton of memories that spontaneously appear, that declare themselves. Which adds a layer to our adventure that wasn't there at the very beginning.
Memories of our experiences appear at specific locations. There were a lot of memories at the Seattle Center, of course, because its roots dive deep into our childhoods, run right through our couplehood, and take up a lot of space during our parenthood. Certain areas of Ballard and Crown Hill, too, for Kimmer especially. For both of us when the topics are Dick's Drive-In, Larsen's Bakery, and spray paint art by the local artist known as Henry. South Lake Union and the path running along the shore from Expedia at Smith Cove to Pier 70 are recent additions, both symbolic of our time living on Capital Hill when they were favored walking and lounging destinations.
Of course once random memories start showing up in numbers over a short period of time, a kind of momentum develops and a bunch of other memories both large and tiny light up as well... making for a rich experience. A bit of an enhanced reality laid across the physical present.
With a ton of pictures to show for it.

Highly suggest that ahead of Trump’s second term you check this map on freedomforimmigrants.org to see if there are any immigration detention centers in your area. It’s going to be really important to keep an eye on these places, and a lot of people are completely unaware when they exist in their proximity.

Seattle Fact #0:
The dome shaped fountain at Seattle Center isn't a fountain, it's an eyeball. Everyone knows that.

Today, I went to the first day of PAX West. I was already bothered by our passes being downgraded from SPG and the convention deciding to use Arch and Summit in terrible ways. But this was certainly something else.
Tumblr media
This is a sign outside of the elevators in the Summit building.
How do I get a medical badge?
You have to email Reedpop TWO WEEKS before the event to request a medical badge. You must also provide a reason for this badge. "I have chronic pain" likely is not enough of an excuse, nor is "I cannot see well in my cosplay".
Elevators should be accessible to everyone. Locking out everyone who didn't follow your unknown, unheard rules is not going to help anyone. I also watched somebody with a cane but no medical badge be denied access to the elevator, so that already confirms my concerns as a disabled person who doesn't always use my cane.
This is not ok and I sincerely hope it does not become the norm for Reedpop conventions.

Next Depot by TIA INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY Via Flickr: Seattle, Washington, USA. Please enjoy a long exposure photograph featuring some exciting light trails produced by the traffic that flowed past me that evening. My fascination with light trails was what originally catapulted me into night-time photography several years ago, on a very cold night in Gastown in Vancouver. I’ll never forget that moment as I ultimately think it’s what led to everything I’ve done in photography and the people I have met since, including many of you. If some of you are familiar with the Gwyneth Paltrow movie, “Sliding Doors”, I think my discovery of light trails was my “Do I get on the train or off the train?” moment in photography. I think I’m still on the train, traveling to as many destinations as possible, always waiting for the next depot. I don’t create such photographs nearly as often anymore, so this image is essentially a tribute (and personal reminder) to why I love and continue to experiment with photography. Tarot Pull for 4/11 Kraken-Sharkies!:
Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ok ok!! I cannot believe there are only four games left you guys... anyways. I love this pull!! this is a good pull for us!! the starting over card has me really thinking about how much we've been getting to see the baby squidbirds shine, like lomo and wints and shane and ryker yk!! and even just some of our younger guys too like matty. they're the future of this team!! and that's been such a joy to watch during the end of this season!! and THEN!! the leadership card! to me it's rlly apparent right, I think its time we see a captain named next season yk, it's *so* great we have all this young talent but we also need our vets and overall a Leader to kinda help them hone their skills. and without a captain I feel like too many guys have tried to take on too much at once and it's just gotten a little jumbled, yk? anyways. to me these are really cool cards bcs they're very bright and hopeful abt our future and I guess for this game tn maybe we can look at that and see specifically what our youngins can do!!

….anyone else ready to watch idiots scoot around a sheet of ice chasing a hunk of rubber and eat horrendously unhealthy “food” with your bff while actively rooting against each other??
Or just me?
No?…
