Give Me Your Money: Paul McCartney Featured on Commemorative £5 Coin

- “It feels like a huge honor,” Fab man says

A new coin from the Royal Mint commemorates the post-Beatles phase of Paul McCartney’s career.

“Our coins recognize the greatest icons and events in British history, so it’s fitting that Paul McCartney’s remarkable music career is now celebrated on an official UK coin,” the mint said in a statement.

Available in silver, gold and color versions, the £5 coin features McCartney’s first name in signature form atop images of his so-called magic piano and the headstock of his Höfner violin bass emblazoned with the Wings logo. They range in price from $19.75 to $3,800.

“It feels like a huge honor,” McCartney said of being immortalized on money.

“It’s not anything I would have expected to happen when I was a kid. I’m interested to see who wants one.”

The mint made a single, plectrum-shaped coin as a gift for McCartney in recognition of his early-days habit of using a train-flattened coin for a pick.

The Rolling Stones, David Bowie and Elton John are among the U.K.’s previously minted musicians.

holy crap my big brain figured out Havers' war timeline all because the Captain mentioned the 1st Royal Tank Regiment. [Tangent Incoming]

Havers' medals, specifically for his military campaigns, are the Africa Star, Italy Star, and the France & Germany Star.

The 1st RTR was first involved in North Africa since the beginning. We know Havers went there until the end. The 1st RTR then went to Italy later into the Italian campaign on September 1943. However, the 1st RTR left in 1944 for D-Day. After D-Day, the 1st RTR joined the Allies in Germany for the final year of the war. This was how Havers gained the France & Germany Star.

Havers staying with this regiment literally tracks with his military achievement like o h my god. And, you can in fact get a medal for a brief posting at a campaign, just as long you've contributed on the operation for a day, you are qualified for a medal.

EASTON, Windenburg (SNN) - - Today the Bank of Windenburg unveiled the design of the Queen Katherine I banknotes. The portrait of The Queen will appear on existing designs of all four polymer banknotes (§5, §10, §20 and §50), with no other changes to the existing designs.

The Queen’s image will appear on the front of the banknotes, as well as in cameo in the see-through security window. 

The new notes are expected to enter circulation by mid-2025. All polymer banknotes carrying a portrait of HM King George I remain legal tender, and the public can continue to use these as normal. In line with guidance from the Royal Household, to minimize the environmental and financial impact of this change, new notes will only be printed to replace worn banknotes and to meet any overall increase in demand for banknotes. Notes featuring HM King George I and Queen Katherine I will therefore co-circulate.

Queen Katherine I (right) was presented with the first bank notes featuring her portrait from the Bank of Windenburg Governor Alexander Winkler and Sarah Johnston, the Bank of Windenburg's Chief Cashier, at Buckingsim Palace.

Speaking ahead of the release, Governor Winkler said: “I am very proud that the Bank is releasing the design of our new banknotes which will carry a portrait of Queen Katherine I. This is a significant moment, as The Queen is only the third monarch to feature on our banknotes. Sims will be able to use these new notes as they start to enter circulation in 2025.”

The notes follow the distribution of the first coins featuring the face of Katherine in early December, to slowly replace those that include the face of the late King George.

On the other side of the coin is a tribute to the late monarch, a design that originally appeared on his 1993 Coronation Crown. It includes the four quarters of the Royal Arms depicted within a shield. In between each shield is an emblem of the U.K. nations: a rose, a thistle, a shamrock and a leek.

While the King’s image faces to the right, his daughter’s will face left due to an 18th-century tradition that the direction must alternate for each new monarch.

News of the production was first announced by the Royal Mint in 2023.

I've been working on this one for very long. I've started this canvas on February 20th, but the first actual concept for this illustration goes back to 2021, to my extremely early fandom days.

When I read Hollyberry's loading screen fact I doodled her trying to beat her glass record in Sparkling's bar, while Herb and Vamp were cheering on her and Mint Choco was playing some sick violin tunes. I proposed myself to finish that sketch one day... and I never did xd. That didn't mean I didn't forget about that doodle. The game kept evolving.

More little facts were introduced. And the bar from that tiny illustration started growing. Herb was revealed to be able to play de piano in a First Anniversary illustration, and I didn't want Mint Choco to play his violin all alone, so no they're playing music together u.u. And Cocoa went to hear Mint Choco play, of course.

Wildberry became real, so he came cuz Hollyberry dragged him. He went to the corner all alone cuz he's a bit overwhelmed by the ambient. Rye usually hits bars and orders stuff, so I thought she would be here too, probably thinking about how could she get new hints on catching Chili Pepper.

Caviar and Candy Diver are celebrating another day of hard work, and finally we have Royal Margarine, singing. And what is he singing? The song that ended helping me develop the ambient for the scene: "Al calor del amor en un bar", of Gabinete Caligari. The lyrics of the song really suit his character :0.

I wanted to challenge myself with this one. I wanted to create a scene with a lot of different characters all at once, without overwhelming the space and making everyone perfectly noticeable. And I included 11. This was pretty enjoyable to draw, both the process and the final result have been worth the time. Hope you like this one!
