Hey peeps!

Small post to keep me out of total hiatus, inspired by the new Chappell Roan song!!

It came out and I knew I needed to draw a pretty cowgirl, and Rye Cookie was my first thought lmao

I’m honestly super duper proud of this one? Like idk I’m starting to see visible improvement from being at an art school and having to draw everyday, and so hopefully I’ll make a bunch of cool stuff during the Summer when I’m for sure to have free time.

(Although I do have an Illustration class this quarter, and we’re allowed to do digital art, so maybe new posts sooner than that?? I have no idea, I’m just trying to make myself feel better lol)

Bounty huntin'

Premise: You're robbed by some stray bandits, right under a bounty hunter 's nose.

"No no! It's- it's fine! They can take a few coins..."

Your purse had been snatched away from you, right from your hands. Though that was a few minutes ago now...

"That bandit's got the top bounty, sweetpea. It's gettin' outta hand."

You whine subtly - as much as a criminal was just that - you worried someone could get hurt. Bounty hunters did carry guns ,didn't they?

"If you're going to hunt for them, take me with you!"

You grab onto her arm, tugging with both hands so she'd pause her advances. Her eyes are momentarily skeptical, though when they're met with your pleading ones, her gaze relents a little.

She pushes her wheat coloured hair from her eyes, propping up her cowboy hat.

"Alright then! Lead the way, I need'ta know where they went!"

You never quite concluded your search for the bandit that had stolen from you. Advancements were made, though you were side-tracked eventually. They'd trailed off somewhere, and after a prolonged search, Rye Cookie had found herself enjoying your company.

The subtle shows of affection, shy words exchanged between each other in hushed spaces.... lovingly intimate, private 'I love you's shared in the warm confines of your home...

"Rye Cookie?'

You gently embrace her from behind, though a lot of her hair seems to get in your way. She was only just preparing for another day of patrols, cleaning her two trusty guns.

You never liked her job... much too rough, far too violent for your meager tastes. You understood the source of her ragtag demeanor, though it looked a lot better on her. You could never survive the line of work.

"Stay safe out there."

You murmur, gently squeezing. She gently grabs one of your hands with one of her own. She grins widely, and suddenly everything's okay.

"As if these bandits have anythin' on me."

She swivels out of your hold, grabbing hold again when the two of you face each other directly. She then grabs your waist, pressing your bodies together, delivering a chaste kiss.

You're stunned for a moment, and she chuckles lowly. You rebuke with a shy smile, always the more timid of you both. You'd both learned things from each other.

Rye Cookie, ever the hands-on rag-tag soul, had simmered down. So she could embrace you without all the edges - without knicking you with her loudness.

You, too, had changed. Though still relatively reclusive, Rye Cookie had drawn out what little confidence you had. You certainly weren't a social butterfly, at least yet.

She draws away, touch lingering on your dough.

She silently grabs her guns, sending one last shyer smile your way.

"I'll be home by midnight, sweetheart!"

The door shuts close with a creak.

You're left as breathless as always.

[Rye Cookie freezes, the confident bounty hunter caught off guard, A faint of blush appears on her face as she clears her throat]

Rye Cookie : Well, now, don’t go spoutin’ nonsense like that all of a sudden...

M!Reader Cookie : Chuckles... What? Ain’t used to hearin’ the truth?

Rye Cookie : Uh… Reckon I shoulda known you’d try to turn the tables on me...

[Y/N cookie hops off the crates and holstered his revolver, approaching her and placed a hand onto the wall next to her, caught Rye cookie off guard as the blush on her face heats up]
