the ages in this show are so fucked up/inaccurate compared to actual medical school timelines 😵💫
#rewatch lb#there’s no way chase is 26 in s1#that’s too babey for the job he’s in iirc#fellows are all post-residency but if chase is 26 he’d just be starting residency i think??#and residency training is 2-7 years#so logically chase should be at least 28 if he did med school right after undergrad. and that’s only if he did just a two year residency#also there’s no way amber is late 20s in s4. she has her life way too together for that. my guess was always mid thirties#since wilson is early 40s?#anyways#1x13

HOLD ON. I think I can figure out the inconsistencies in Chase’s education timeline. In ‘The Mistake’, he tells Kayla (the patient) that his dad leaving and his mom ‘crawling into a bottle’ made for a horrible 12th year of HS. But we know that Chase’s dad left when he was 15—so that would mean Chase was 15 (assuming it wasn’t just a miscommunication) in the last year of high school. We’re going to say he went through four years of pre-med so = 19 when he started med school. Going to give him a generous 4 years of med school, which results in him being 23 when he got his MD. Plus 3 years of residency, which means he would be 26 at the start of the show, which House later confirms in ‘Cursed’ (i think 1x13). You’re welcome :)
(+fellowships are usually for those who are getting specialisation so it could be likely that Chase was a surgical resident during the course of season 1-4.)

Full Episode Commentary
1x13: Children of the Damned
While Lost Girls is centered on Katherine and Vicki, Children of the Damned is centered on Damon and Anna. In this episode, none of their flashbacks are shared with Elena. They're kept strictly to the brothers according to scene. I say this because Elena has no idea what Stefan hides from her going forward.
Katherine ruined Damon before he became a vampire, so he died when he died. This opening scene is where his season 5 dialogue belongs: "She taught me how to kill, how to enjoy it. She ruined me, and I can't take any of that back." That's why Damon's character requires a resurrection, and I feel that's what TVD is about for him. The real Damon wouldn't help Katherine kill innocent men in the road. Being a rebel doesn't mean being a murderer. A rebel is simply a rule breaker. But I do feel that's the specific aspect of Damon's character Katherine manipulated. "Who needs rules?" I love watching Damon as a human because he comes off so… awkward. It's the only way I can describe him. I feel vampirism changed him and Caroline in similar ways. The strength, the confidence.
What you have at the beginning of 1x13, is Damon believing he has enough trust with Elena that she'll allow him to open the tomb to rescue Katherine. She trusted him enough that she'd be safe to go to Atlanta with him. She then trusted him enough that she'd be safe with him baiting Noah at the dance. Stefan has Elena right where he wants her because he rushed to manipulate her before Damon could ask for her help. And it's because Damon believes he has enough trust with Elena that he asks for her help. To see what I mean about Damon's trust, follow Bree. Damon knew Elena would inform Stefan that they went to Bree's Bar, and he took her anyway. In doing so, allowed Stefan in the know that he had another way into the tomb. He then trusted to question Noah in front of Stefan and Elena. That's how much Damon trusted her.
They have Stefan and Elena in bed, and this is what I mean about Stelena. The writers had every opportunity to give them more sex scenes, and they're like… nope, just watch this boring couple lay in bed together. "If I see something I haven't seen before, I'll throw a dollar at it." Damon's comment is hilarious because Elena is a doppelganger, so yes, he knows what her body looks like. "Since when am I helping?" Damon is at the edge of their bed before they even get out of bed because he didn't expect Stefan to get to her so soon. "Then don't, and I'll help you, whatever it takes." Because Damon has no idea Stefan got to her first, he replies, "Well, Stefan's helping, and you've taken up residence in Stefan's bed, ergo…" As I've said, Damon and Elena are working towards a friendship. They're not friends. She's helping because she's Stefan's girlfriend. Still, he believes he built up enough trust with her to not betray him. Damon basically views him and Elena the way Mason views him and Damon in 3x7. Elena won't screw him over as long as they have the same agenda, and that agenda is to open the tomb and rescue Katherine.
Stefan's comments aren't so important in the fact that Damon knows Stefan is lying to him. But get him in a shared scene with Elena like this, and all bets are off. Stefan makes it appear as though he hasn't yet talked to Elena about the tomb. Because they're in scene together and Elena has his trust, Damon believes it. "You don't have to do anything that you don't want to do." Stefan's comment is only important to Elena because she has Damon's trust in this scene. She doesn't have to betray him if she doesn't want to. An otherwise idiotic comment for Stefan to make. If he were being honest about helping Damon, he'd be turning to Elena for that journal because it's a Gilbert journal. They're not gonna find it with the Lockwoods or the Fells, they're gonna find it with the Gilberts lol.
The simple "Good" that Damon gives Elena in this scene is everything because it's the difference between stepping back and helping. You have to remove the Gilbert journal to know what Atlanta was about for Damon. It was never about Elena helping him. It was always about Elena not getting in the middle, about her standing by her word in 1x4. "I'm sorry that you and Stefan have this thing between you, but I can't get in the middle of it, Damon. I just… I hope you two can work it out." The grimoire scene is everything because that's where Damon's "Good" sits. That's what he trusted her with… not to get in the middle. Even though Stefan is lying to Damon and Damon knows it, they still play along as if they're working the same plan. "How do we know that this journal will hold the location of the grimoire? We're really going to take the word of this vampire? He seemed like a bit of a dimwit." Stefan is trying to steer Damon in a different direction while he and Elena go after John Gilbert's journal, but Damon isn't falling for it.
Elena: Okay, what exactly is a grimoire, anyway? Damon: It's a witch's cookbook. Stefan: Every spell that a witch casts is unique unto itself, so every witch would document their work. Damon: Yeah. Cookbook.
This little bit of conversation is partly the reason Elena listens to Damon better than she listens to Stefan. Even though Damon already told her what a grimoire is, Stefan feels the need to elaborate. Damon reiterates for that reason. They're both right, but Damon is to the point. It's a witch's cookbook, and because it's Emily's grimoire, it's Emily's cookbook. Her recipes. "What about our mystery vampire? Dimwit obviously wasn't working alone, so whoever's out there knows who we are." This is why Stefan shouldn't betray Damon. "You know, I really like this whole ménage à threesome team thing. It's got a bit of a kink to it." A nice love triangle comment for Delena as they're an obvious slow burn ship.
One of the beautiful things about this scene with Damon and Katherine is the beauty of Delena's scene at the open of 5x1. Damon is a playful person, even in bed.
Elena also loves as Damon loves. Elena's problem with Damon isn't in him being a vampire, it's in him acting like one. Emily is introduced as Katherine's handmaiden rather than her slave because she has way too much power to be a slave. But Emily and Katherine have mutual secrets that they need to keep from the founders council. Still, blacks couldn't own land until after the Civil War, so I feel this was the only reason she teamed with Katherine because I honestly don't think Emily ever liked her. More like she tolerated Katherine. Damon stopped vervain from growing in Mystic Falls at the end of the Civil War in 1865. Had Katherine not sent her to her death, Emily would've been eligible to purchase land in 1866. "Which one?" Emily's question will become the issue in current timeline, it's just a matter of when.
"The Salvatores have been kind to take me in. As far as everyone here knows, I'm a poor orphan girl from Atlanta, lost her family in the fires." This is why Datherine and Delena are written in Atlanta. It's all part of their Gone with the Wind theme. A reason Elena is dressed as herself for Damon in 1x19 and dressed like Katherine for Stefan in 1x22. Whether in a bottle or in jewelry, vervain doesn't burn vampires unless it's in direct contact with the skin. It's hard to watch some of these flashbacks because they show how families actually paid because of Katherine. Anna may be a vampire, but she's the same age as Jeremy and she had her mother taken from her for 145 years. "You know, you don't have to talk down to me. I'm not stupid." Ben is only stupid because Anna refuses to train him properly. That's why he'll end up dead like Vicki.
Ben: Why did you choose me? Anna: I needed someone in a position to be my eyes and ears. Small town bartender fit the bill. Ben: There are plenty of bartenders to choose from. Why me? Anna: You were sad, Ben. You lacked purpose. You needed me.
This conversation is important in the fact that they cut to Stefan and Elena for a reason. It was about both their needs. Because Elena is human, Stefan knew she'd make him feel human. He had many humans to choose from, but she's also Katherine's doppelganger. The perfect girlfriend to make him feel human. Elena is written opposite Ben. The sad, depressed girl that needed a purpose. Her relationship with Stefan became that purpose. That's why Elena speaks to the fact that she "needed" Stefan.
Elena: Do you think Damon really believes us? That we're both trying to help him? Stefan: I don't think Damon knows what to believe. Trust isn't something that comes naturally to him.
This is a lie by omission. Stefan is hiding the fact that Damon doesn't trust him because he betrayed Damon in 1864.
Elena: You know… I really think that Damon believes that everything he's done, every move that he's made, he's done for love. It's twisted, but kind of sad.
Elena's comment reveals her understanding of Damon's actions. Stefan doesn't like this, just look at his body language.
Stefan: There are other ways to get what you want. You don't have to kill people. Damon has no regard for human life. He enjoys inflicting pain on others. For 145 years, every single time that I have let my guard down and let Damon back into my life, he's done something to make me regret that. I'm not going to make that mistake again.
While Stefan says there are other ways for Damon to get what he wants without killing people, he's denying Damon's way of getting what he wants without killing people. A contradiction like his comment in 1x12. This is Stefan's way of manipulating Elena, that's why it has a parallel in 1x14. He continues to manipulate by preying on her fear and painting Damon a monster.
Elena: So what do you think will happen if the tomb gets opened and Damon gets Katherine back?
Elena is having second thoughts about betraying Damon. Stefan doesn't like this either, so he continues to prey on Elena's fear for the sake of manipulating her.
Stefan: I think that no matter what Damon promises, a lot of people will die.
This entire scene is one giant manipulation for the sake of making sure she doesn't change her mind about betraying Damon. No matter what Damon tells Elena from this point forward, she won't trust him… which is exactly what Stefan wanted.
Stefan: That's Johnathan Gilbert.
Another lie by omission. Elena has no idea that Stefan is just as much a monster as Damon, that Stefan himself killed John Gilbert. She doesn't find out this truth until 2x15. I say this now because some truths require an entire season for Elena to learn. So when Damon sleeps with Rebekah in 3x14, it's best to know why Stefan sleeps with Rebekah in 4x11.
Jeremy informs Stefan and Elena that he gave John's journal to Alaric. The very journal that Damon needs to find Emily's grimoire. Alaric makes a copy of the journal using the school's copy machine and hides it in a locker. This becomes a thing for Alaric and Damon... things hidden in a school locker, like a bottle of alcohol in 4x22. "Now, would Silas know about Locker 42?" Stefan confronts Alaric at the high school. Anna stole John's journal from Alaric's desk, so Alaric is forced to give Stefan the copy he hid in the locker.
They show various flashbacks of Katherine, Pearl, Anna, and the Salvatore brothers. It's heartbreaking to watch. tbh, I would've loved to see Pearl and Katherine at war because I'm pretty sure Pearl would've killed her.
Damon: My father never approved of anyone I dated, which only made me want them more.
I love all of Damon's relationships, including the friendship he tries to have with Jenna. He's helping cook dinner. It's important to note that both Stefan and Elena betray Damon, and not just on any night. They actually betray him on family night. This scene cut is beautiful to me because his comment is specific to Katherine. Again, I believe it was Damon's rebellious nature that she preyed on. His father was quite an ass. Giuseppe would've had respect for Damon had he died on the battlefield with his regiment. God forbid he deserts based on principle and lives.
Damon: Is Stefan with you? Elena: Um - he'll be here soon.
Damon is testing because he doesn't trust Stefan. It's because Stefan and Elena are separated at this point that Damon still trusts Elena. She responds the way she does because she didn't expect him to be there for family night.
Stefan is still talking to Alaric at the high school. When Alaric tells him about Damon killing his wife, Stefan offers him a triple warning. He outwardly made it clear that Alaric wouldn't survive Damon. You'd think three warnings would be enough for Alaric, but no. This triple warning is half the reason I don't blame Damon for killing Alaric.
Damon is adorable with Elena, but his flirting doesn't come with intention. It's part of his personality. Understandable that he'd flirt with Elena as much as he does because she's Katherine's doppelganger, but he wouldn't cross the line with her... not at this point.
Damon: Speaking of Stefan, where is he?
He reiterates his initial question. More testing to see if she's aware that Stefan is betraying him.
Elena: I'm wearing vervain, Damon. It's not going to work. Damon: I'm not compelling you.
Elena still has no idea what Damon was trying to prove, and he is trying to prove something.
Damon: Well, you're IN Georgia. Without your magical little necklace, I might add. I can very easily make you… agreeable. Elena: What are you trying to prove?
Their vervain/necklace scenes are important in that regard. He's not upset that Elena lied to him in this scene because he fully expected Stefan to betray him. It's the fact that she's hiding her involvement. Even if Elena weren't in the middle, she'd believe Damon could trust Stefan. It's in this sense, Damon has no idea she's in the middle. He believes she knows nothing of Stefan's betrayal.
Damon: Please, promise me you won't tell him, Stefan. Stefan: I promise.
In 1864, Damon put his trust in Stefan, Stefan put his trust in their father. In current timeline, Damon put his trust in Elena, Elena put her trust in Stefan. Those are your parallels, so you can see where this is going just by looking at their flashbacks. Stefan took on their father's role, Elena took on Stefan's role.
Damon: There was a time when I trusted him more than anyone. Elena: Trust breeds trust. You have to give it to get it. Damon: Are you lecturing me? Elena: Do you need to be lectured?
Stefan has her so blind that she has no idea she's lecturing the wrong brother. She also has no idea that Atlanta was Damon very much giving to get.
Damon: I just want her back. I'm sure you can understand that. Elena: I can understand that you would do anything for her, yes. Damon: Then you understand what I will do if anyone gets in my way.
Like Stefan warning Alaric about Damon, Damon warns Elena. That's half the reason I don't blame him for threatening to turn her. They're called "warnings" for a reason. Ignore them, get what you have coming. Elena gets a better understanding of Damon's desire to rescue Katherine once the tomb vampires kidnap Stefan.
Damon is reiterating what I said of Elena's scene with Stefan. He has a way of getting what he wants without killing anyone. Getting in his way of getting what he wants is a surefire way to put him in a killing mood, which only shows the contradiction in Stefan's comment because he was manipulating Elena.
Jenna: He is ridiculously hot!
You can feel the difference in the way women treat both brothers. Damon is treated as the more attractive brother, but he is the "bad" brother. Stefan is the "good" brother, but rarely is he complimented on his looks. That's why, despite Damon turning Vicki, her mother brags about making out with Damon in the 8th season. An actual threat, even before he decides to better himself.
Like Elena, Stefan is surprised to see Damon at Elena's house. They weren't expecting him to show up for family night. Not a word out of his mouth, that's how surprised he is. Ben and Bonnie are talking at the Grill. I always felt like Bonnie and Elena were closer with each other than with Caroline. I felt it even in the pilot episode, but Bonnie furthers it with comments like the one she makes to Ben. "Oh. Elena and I are bonded for life. I can't imagine it any other way. She's my sister. I mean, I'd die for her." This is the reason they end up in a sleep spell. Stefan continues to lie to Damon. This time, about Alaric. Damon has no idea that Stefan has a copy of the journal in his pocket. It's at this point that the brothers have no point staying together in their plan to get to the grimoire because they're both hiding from each other. Stefan is hiding for the sake of betraying Damon. Damon is hiding because he knows Stefan is betraying him. Damon has no choice but to turn to Anna to get his hands on the original. In this scene, Stefan not only suspects, he's given solid proof that other vampires were working with Noah. Still, he proceeds with his betrayal against Damon. Damon and Anna work off the original journal while Stefan and Elena work off Alaric's copy of the journal.
Their flashback here is absolutely gorgeous. Damon attacks Anna in her motel room. "Damn. You're strong for a little thing." A quick open grin on his face when he sees just how powerful she is. He LOVES strong women. Stefan manipulates Elena further because this isn't just about him denying Damon access to Katherine, this is about him putting a wedge between Damon and Elena. He's essentially trying to ruin it for Damon with both doppelgangers. That's why he suggests she doesn't have to stay, while at the same time, actually wants her to. Rather than send her home, he allows her to stay while knowing Damon will get violent should he show up and catch them. "I'm sorry that you have to do this." Elena is blind to the fact that Stefan doesn't have to do this, he wants to. This is where they quite literally use a flashback to show Stefan's desire to have Elena all to himself. "I want you all to myself." They combine both to show that Stefan is removing both. If Damon can't get to Katherine, half his reason for staying is gone. If Damon can't trust Elena, the other half of his reason for staying is gone. Stefan wants Damon out of town, period. As I often say... Damon is selfish with her life, but not her love. Stefan is selfish with her love, but not her life. Worse to be selfish like Stefan because it quite literally means he'd rather she die with him than let her be happy with someone else. Damon doesn't mind that she's with someone else as long as she's alive to be happy. They also show the truth of Elena in current timeline. "But I'm the one who gets to make all the rules." Elena will decide whether Stefan has her all to himself - or not. Their flashback of Katherine's capture shows where Stefan got the idea to vervain Damon via Caroline in 1x4.
"Sorry. I work alone." Damon's comment shows what betrayal does to someone. If you want a list of ways Damon changes, his need to work alone is one of them because he's unable to trust. That trust starts with Elena. So shove those two on your list... trusting others and being a team player. Bonnie kisses Ben while preparing to leave the Grill. She quickly pulls away as she feels his "dead" energy. She knows he's a vampire. Not so subtle about it, so Ben had no choice but kidnap her in that moment.
"Well, what do you know? This is an interesting turn of events." This line is specific to the title of 1x10, The Turning Point. They're about to pull a repeat. In this scene, Stefan has the nerve to tell Damon he's incapable of trust, and all the while, he lied to Damon about helping him rescue Katherine. There's no reason to wonder why Damon is incapable of trust, the answer is obvious. "Of course I was going to do it by myself because the only one I can count on is me! You made sure of that many years ago, Stefan." Again, this is what betrayal does. Without trust, Damon has no choice but rely solely on himself.
This is where I show the difference between Damon and Stefan...
This is why Elena needs to spend time with Ben and Anna. An actual kidnapping so she can see and feel the difference between them and Damon. When she sees it and feels it for herself, she knows what she betrayed. "What am I to you? Who am I to you?"
Betray the man, get the vampire. "You just did the ONE thing that ensures that I will." This is an admission of truth. Stefan can't love her as a vampire and never wants her to be a vampire. He'd rather hand Damon the key to opening a tomb that holds 27 vampires than allow her to become one, and he's like this even before she admits she never wants to be a vampire. The idea of her becoming a vampire disgusts Stefan.
Consider this a "goodbye" on Damon's part. That's why he's soft with her. Because he can't trust her, he views her as Stefan's girlfriend and nothing more. Refer back to 1x3 to understand why Damon is "hurt" by Elena's betrayal and why I consider Stefan an ass for purposefully involving her. "There must be a shred of humanity left inside my brother. Somewhere. I keep hoping. But how do I make him see it?" He's defeating his initial purpose by involving Elena in his betrayal because he wants her all to himself. Yes, that's how jealous he is of Damon. I note this because Stefan repeats the same process in 3x14. This is his way of choosing Elena over Damon. He'd rather Damon lose that last shred of humanity than allow him to become friends with Elena. "You didn't do anything wrong. Don't forget that." Elena will come to realize her comment to Stefan is a lie... and soon.
An undeniable truth. Stefan cared more about betraying Damon than he did about finding out who Anna was. Huge mistake on his part. Damon wouldn't have been that careless and stupid.
Damon is the better brother in so many ways.

Jess Watches // Tues 7 May // Day 223 Synopses & Favourite Scenes & Poll
The Resident (with mum) 3x09 Out for Blood
Conrad comes under fire when a former patient files a malpractice lawsuit against him, putting Bell in a difficult position with Red Rock. When Devon discovers that his VIP patient has a life-threatening brain condition, the doctors band together to perform a risky surgery. Meanwhile, Mina discovers that Adaku has a dangerous heart condition that puts her and the baby at risk, and Kyle forms a personal relationship with a patient.
I was surprised Devon stuck up for Conrad in the deposition. Maybe he was feeling less morally superior when he started crushing on a patient. And I do not understand Adaku risking her life for her unborn child but I appreciate that Mina is supporting her friend. Also, Bell's smug face was cute but he needs to be careful.
Avoidance (with mum) 1x03
Jonathan and Spencer are still living at Dan's, and tensions are rising. When Claire questions the appropriateness of their son sleeping in an office room, Jonathan panics and lies to her about finding a new place to live.
Courtney has a heart after all. She is often blunt, and sometimes rude, but she seems to do it out of frustration that people aren't living up to their potential. She just wants people to be authentically happy (and independently competent.) And if that means they then move out of your house, it's just an added bonus.
Star Trek: Prodigy 1x13 All the World's a Stage
The crew answers a distress call to find a colony trapped in Starfleet's past.
The plays looked so fun and creative. They should take their show on the road. I hope they keep in touch. And what is Murf morphing into??
Hacks 3x01 Just for Laughs
As Deborah prepares to accept an award in Montreal, Ava does her best to avoid her former employer.
The Deborah/Ava scenes were like the good old days of s1. More of that, please. I didn't much care for Jimmy/Kayla's storyline though. I like them as characters, but them doing their own thing just doesn't work for me if A or D aren't involved. Otherwise was a solid season opener.

⠀⠀ SPOILERS FOR THE WINCHESTERS SEASON 1x13 BEWARE THIS IS A PREDISCUSSED STARTER WITH @broodingmystery
⠀⠀ ⠀⠀𝐖hile it took him a while to understand that he was dead, even though he vaguely remembers being clawed to shreds by those werewolves 。Somehow, it didn’t seem real 。Heaven was much different now that Jack was in charge 。Everywhere changed, memories weren’t on loop and people seemed oddly relaxed 。Hell, even the roads resembled earth to some degree 。However, one thing seemed different — Castiel wasn’t around 。Not yet 。For a moment his heart broke into two and he took a long drive, days passed down on earth but in heaven it only felt like a few hours 。That’s how he ended up here, finishing what he started 。His mother and father they were young, hopelessly in love 。Yet something threatened his world and it needed to be stopped, Bobby came along as his rational brain side 。Because god knows he needed it 。The akrida was a foe he couldn’t ignore, so one last hunt was necessary even though he was dead 。God knows how they survived considering the bastards even though they possessed bodies — they were horrific 。Insects 。He hated bugs, but he did it 。Finished the last job and went back to heaven to relax 。He took up a house painted black with a white picket fence he thought about 。Even though it only had two floors, it was lonely 。But he was at peace, unaware of the lingering angel who resided in heaven 。Hell, he should have tried to call him, but for all he knows his boyfriend was down under with the fuckin’ empty 。Bastard that thing was 。Jack visited often, explaining what he was doing as the new established God and frankly he was proud of the kid 。They ate, laughed and enjoyed the time they had together until he explained something that shook him to the core 。
“Castiel is alive and here 。In heaven with us, Dean.”
He couldn’t believe it, since when was anything real ׅׅ𖤠 He barely got a happy ending most of the time , but everything was falling into place faster than he could control 。He wanted to speak, but couldn’t 。Because words would only fail him 。So he gazed at the nephilim before him, saying more with his eyes than he ever could 。He watched the boy motion his hand in a way that the front doors of the eldests house opened 。There he was, the rainbow winged angel he grew to adore, love and crave 。He stood there, admiring him, engraving every curve, every wrinkle, every calloused hand into his mind 。Hell even those eyes, because he thinks he’d forget it 。He won’t, he’s dead after all 。He couldn’t speak, so he walked forward, but he stopped midway 。Because his hunter instincts even though deceased kept him at a safe distance 。He trusted Jack to bring this angel back, but he needed proof 。He needed to hear it was really him 。

House says he is twice her age in 1x20 when listing reasons she shouldn't be into him, so it's probably at least a slight over exaggeration. But so there is a single year to base the math on, I'm gonna guess their ages during this episode.
In 3x16, Wilson says House has been using his urethra for 45 years. To be generous, let's say that Wilson was rounding to the nearest 5 and House is 48 (I'm making him as old as possible here for the math to work). There are 3 christmases, and thus 3 years, in seasons 1-3. So House would be 44-45 in season 1 (since the season spans over his birthday)
Let's check this guess by comparing his age to Cuddy's.
In season 5 when she says that it's to protest House calling her old, so she might have jokingly been de-aging herself in her reply, so we can't base it on that.
In 2x3 Cuddy reveals she was in undergrad at U Michigan while House was already established as a legend in their med school. This was House's second med school, as 2x12 establishes he was kicked out of his first one. Cuddy in this ep also said she graduated med school at a young age but said nothing about undergrad, so I'm going to assume she graduated at the regular age of 21-22. This means that there was at least one year of overlap where Cuddy was 18-22 and House was 23-26.
Also in 2x3, Cuddy says she became chief of medicine at 32. She is now Dean of Medicine Hospital Administrator, and has been for at least 6 years and 3 months by the pilot. Since this is a teaching hospital I'm gonna assume chief and dean of medicine are the same job. So she is at least 38 by the pilot.
If she is around 38 at the start of s1 and House is around 44, then he's around 6 years older than her. Which works with the Michigan timeline.
So we conclude House was 45 in 1x20.
Cameron's specialty is allergy/immunology. That typically means 4 year med school, 3 year residency, and 2 year fellowship. However, in season 4 it is confirmed that the members of the diagnostic team are fellows, so she's actually only completed residency. Which would mean she is around 29 in season 1. However, it is also implied that the entire team is extraordinary, so Cameron might have graduated on a compressed timeline. Let's then turn to comparing her age with others to get a better idea.
In 2x2 Chase says he is 30. But he is probably rounding, as he just says this to communicate his age difference with the 9 year old girl. In 1x13 House says Chase is 26. This would suggest he is 26-27 in 2x2, which does indeed round to 30. So Chase was 26 at 1x20. In 2x3, Cameron reveals she is the youngest of the team. So she was, at oldest, also 26 in 1x20. This means she must have graduated on a compressed timeline, but that makes sense.
While a 45 year old is not twice as old as a 26 year old, calling someone in their 40s "twice [the] age" of someone in their 20s, especially when trying to stress the age gap, makes sense.
In conclusion, when House said that, he was likely around 45 and Cameron was likely around 26.
That line that House said to Cameron, "I'm twice your age," doesn't stick in my head. Is there any official information about their ages?
In Seasons 1-2, Chase said he was around 30. And Cameron is +- his age, I believe?
In Season 5, Cuddy said she was 38, so Greg was about the same age, wasn’t he?
I may be missing something *crying*.

If it were up to you, how would you re-write all the mishaps that went wrong in R + M's relationship in every season of the show?
Oh boy, that's a lot. I think I'd start with Ryan's outburst in 1x13 when Marissa has an open bottle of vodka and they get pulled over by a cop for a broken tail light. I get Ryan's POV, I truly do, but he didn't have to slam her door like that. It's nuts. That's not a mishap or relationship ruiner but I don't think it's this hero moment a lot of people think/thought it was.
I wish Ryan had faced more friction post-Oliver about his behavior during that storyline. Man was right in the end but that doesn't make the things he did okay such as breaking into Marissa's locker at night. Like wtf. And Marissa was literally held hostage with a gun to her head so I think the whole Marissa groveling at Ryan's feet for forgiveness thing went too far. She was manipulated by a college-aged boy she thought was her friend and equal. It wasn't as deeply about betrayal as they wanted it to be.
Ryan immediately moving back to Chino with Theresa is so extra the more we discuss it. The distance between Chino and Newport is like 40 miles!! He could still be involved as much as he wanted without literally moving, especially as a legally adopted 16-year-old. If anything, he'd have had more financial support living with the Cohens and commuting back and forth. Ridiculous.
I think the DJ storyline is more Marissa eliciting self-sabotage. She's mad at Ryan but she doesn't even realize she is until it's too late. And if Ryan is still holding the trust thing against her, fine, but that storyline ultimately goes nowhere because Lindsay is introduced in the next episode.
2x09 could've really built to a moment RM both needed to acknowledge their past and hangups but the apology scene needed about a million more things on Ryan's end. Marissa's doing all the emotional work in that exchange ("okay, you're over it, maybe I never meant anything to you") and Ryan's just like "it's not like that" and he LEAVES. Fuck man, there's so much more to be said.
I wish RM had talked about the almost-kiss moments they had in 2x18/19. They know they're building to something and it's very them to ignore it but it makes "been a while since we were alone without being interrupted by someone or something" more annoying because it's like, have you guys been discussing this interruption thing? If you're so open about it now?
Obviously the Trey assault is the worst thing this show did. And they did it without any proper plan in place. So I'd change all of that.
The stakes are so high in 3x01 with who will be in trouble for shooting Trey. I think if they'd kept this up with lawyers and police for half a season it would've been more interesting. All of a sudden it's all solved with a shake of their wrists and we move on to typical Newport shit.
Johnny should've been a blip that went away in 3x05 when he introduced his uncle to Ryan. It would make sense for a short arc. Bring Kaitlin into the fold then to become the confidante Marissa needs. And she's not afraid to push Ryan's buttons so she would've pushed Ryan to take her place because that's who Marissa really wants/needs.
Not making a whole ass Chrismukkah episode about stupid Johnny. God.
Bringing Marissa's letter to Johnny back to life in some form. They let that thread fade away. It would've helped Ryan post-accident to see where Marissa's heart really resided while she was grieving. Because grief doesn't immediately equal heartbreak!
I like 3x17 enough for what it's trying to do and the fact exists that Ryan did in fact invite Marissa to his party which meant in-show that he wanted to try again with them. They're both being very teenage-y about it with SS all episode and for him to invite her meant a Lot!!! The moment she turns away on the pier hurts my heart in a good way but I wish he'd seen her turn away. Even if he didn't stop her, I wish he'd seen that she'd showed up.
Another thing Ryan should've known was that Marissa stopped Sadie from leaving.
Them flirting with Ryan/Theresa again in 3x22-24 was so weird because we know how miserable Ryan found their life together in the summer between s1 and 2. It was just... unnecessary, I guess? Because Ryan needed a prom date? Idk
Why did Ryan not second guess why Marissa knew all about the model home in 3x25? It's a full circle moment for sure but also very random in-show when the Roberts' mansion had a pool too lol.
I'm sure there's more 🫡

Jess Watches // Fri 29 Dec // Day 98 Synopses & Favourite Scenes & Poll
The Resident (with mum) 2x17 Betrayal
Unfortunately, when Nic and Conrad take on a patient needing the hospital's only viable ECMO machine, they must decide between saving the life of Abe or saving the life of their younger, more stable patient. Meanwhile, Marshall puts himself in serious danger to help take down Gordon Page once and for all.
Oh, to be hugged by Nic Nevin as my not-boyfriend nearly dies from mono-induced pneumonia. They were right to give him the ecmo but it is a travesty at the state of current healthcare that they had to choose in the first place. Also, that car chase and explosion was pretty epic for a tv show.
Workin' Moms (with mum) 1x13 Having It All (Season Finale)
Kate faces a new challenge as a working mom. Jenny faces reality. Alice surprises Anne in a positive way. Frankie gives her best shot to resolve things.
So proud of the moms: Anne making responsible decisions and trying to be a more emotionally available parent. Kate for realizing her life needs a healthier work/life balance. Frankie for accepting that she needs help with her mental health. And lastly Jenny, girl wyd??
Eureka (rw) 2x05 Duck, Duck Goose
Debris starts raining down on Eureka on the day of the school's science fair, and there may be a connection to Zoe.
Much to love and laugh about: Carter's gym outfit and his stretching techniques, his Jeep being destroyed yet again, his replacement s.a.r.a.h.-driven clown car, him getting hilariously immobilized because Jo purposely didn't pass along a message from security, Jo wearing swat tactical gear to watch over the high school science fair, Zoe being a genuis and helping to save the day.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters 1x08 Birthright
The team goes back to where things all began to confront Shaw. On the brink of collapse, Monarch takes drastic measures.
Is Keiko still alive somehow? Are they going to find her through the portal?? How did it happen/What happened to Lee when he first went through??? If neither is the biological father did Hiroshi call Billy and Lee "Dad"???? Is Keiko still alive somehow?????
