Since it's been months, I am now forcing myself to be a brave little boy to post my process on my version of Ares, along with some art of Aphrodite. And sorry if the post is tagged weirdly, I still am unsure how to properly tag posts. I post every blue moon, so I don't think I still have an understanding of it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are my most recent and decent art of him, and I got a few notes on his design.
● His first scar is the one on his cheek, but it wasn't from any war or battle. When he was younger, he was exactly what one would imagine Ares to be, very arrogant and proud, with fighting on his mind despite having never been to any battles. He would play a game where he and someone would spar, and whoever gets the biggest scar wins. Hermes lost, only because he was so good at it.
● The tattoos he has are from Thrace, where he is said to have been born and was his favorite place. The symbol on the back of his hand is a snake, relating to them being one of his sacred animals.
And here is some art of him I made a few months ago, based on some paintings I've found of him. My favorite genre of Ares art is when he is dorned with flowers, the Erotes are playing with his weapons, and he is very happy with Aphrodite. It makes me very delighted.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Speaking of Aphrodite, this is what she looks like. I got a few notes on her personality and design.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
● Since she is Aphrodite, she is very vain, focusing on her physical appearance a lot and becoming emotional whenever someone undermines or doubts her beauty, with the ability to become wrathful.
● But, as a mother, she is able to self-love aside for her children, putting her entire attention to them. Before she gets with Ares, she has already had a handful of children with previous lovers. Ares doesn't mind, of course.
● Her design is, of course, based on her origins from the sea and her being a sea goddess.
● She emerged from seafoam but was then taken in by Dione.
● Despite valuing her appearance and the way she presents herself and encouraging others to do the same, she does have one little quirk she inherited from her years living in the ocean. She eats like a beast, especially when it comes to seafood. When it is in her sight, she is devouring it like a wildwoman. This is just being very silly and having fun. Don't worry about it.
● Her little, uh, braid thing (I guess, I don't know what you'd call it exactly, I'm not good with hair) is divided into 7 sections, for the 7 types of Greek love. I'm gonna be transparent here. This is me trying to sound clever and creative when I'm not.
● When she is upset, whether sad or angry, her body starts resorting back to water and seafoam. I still can't find out how to draw it, unfortunately, even though the visuals look cool in my mind.
I am gonna try to post more frequently, especially the designs I've come up for the other gods. So far, this is all I could bring my energy to post.

Some thoughts about Beauty and the Beast
I'm referring mainly to the fairytale itself and how we interpret it. I'll bring up the Disney movie because that's definitely the baseline for a lot of people's experience with this fairy tale, but also the older versions of this story.
There are a lot of retellings and versions of this story. There's the Disney movie, of course, and I remember reading Beauty by Robin McKinley, which is closer to the fairy tale than the movie is, that's for sure. There's also the Greek myth of Eros and Psyche and the Norwegian fairy-tale East of the Sun and West of the Moon, which I am lumping into the Beauty and the Beast category. I'm sure there are so many retellings I just have never heard about, so take this with a grain of salt, because the things I'm going to rant about probably have already been done, making this whole little ramble pointless, but I need to address this, because a lot of the stories I've read feel the same.
so, my mom told me about some more retellings, including one where the beast is a werewolf and one where the beast stays a beast in the end... i still want to ramble
As I ramble, I'll be kind of creating my own disjointed idea to highlight how you can follow the basic premise of the story and still create something wildly different. This will be very, very long, so I'll put a cut here, but there will be art for you to enjoy, so if that convinces you to hear me rant about fairytales as I make my own retelling/reimagining, great!
So. Beauty and the Beast. Prince gets cursed by enchantress into a beast. Beauty's father steals a rose from the beast's garden and is told to bring his daughter to the castle or he'll be locked away forever. Beauty volunteers to save her father (she often has two older sisters that do not want to live with a beast) and is treated like a princess. Each night the beast asks, "Will you marry me?" and Beauty unsurprisingly says no. Eventually Beauty visits her family, and the beast nearly dies of a broken heart, but Beauty comes just in the nick of time and says she will marry him. The beast turns into a handsome prince, they live happily ever after, the end.
So, we've got some basic story here. However, so much of that is actually unnecessary to create a Beauty and the Beast story. The only truly necessary things are a beauty, a beast, and the basic moral of not judging a book by its cover (or beauty is in the eye of the beholder, both work for me.)
I am a character writer, meaning that I usually let the characters write the story through their quirks, their needs, etc. So I'll be outlining the story through the characters of Beauty and the Beast, starting with...
The Enchantress
This is a character that doesn't even physically appear in the story, but is absolutely crucial to its existence. There are many different versions of her, but I think the thing that makes the most sense for my purposes is her being a fairy. And this is actually very important, because if you've ever read about fairies, you know they can be the cruelest, most sadistic creatures imaginable. My inspiration for the enchantress comes from the fairies in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Tumblr media
So, the enchantress gets slighted in some way by this prince. It could be full on rudeness, or it could be a perceived slight that a human would not understand. I'm going to say it was a perceived slight, probably something about how fairies think themselves superior to humans, and the prince just didn't give the enchantress the respect she thought she deserved (because yes, I love the idea of the beast being cursed without deserving it, I'll explain later).
With her cruel, twisted sense of humor, the enchantress turns the prince into a hideous, monstrous beast, and the only way for him to break the curse is to have someone agree to marry him and mean it. And here's the fun part: she doesn't realize how impossible this is. Fairies are extremely long lived, but the beast will most likely die before he can break the curse.
Either the enchantress knows this and takes morbid pleasure from the futility (like a cat playing with a mouse) or she can't understand how short humans live and views this as a fair punishment. Seriously, you know how Oberon and Puck play with the lives of humans by using that love potion in Midsummer Night's Dream? Fairies do not understand that humans are more than just animals. They do not understand the psychological torment humans are capable of experiencing due to their actions.
The Beast
The artist in me is very, very annoyed at how many people reach for low hanging fruit when it comes to the beast. He's almost always based off mammals, sometimes he's more animalistic than other times, but he's so normal, even in cases where he's a dragon instead of some big wolf or something.
Come on, this is a fairy we're talking about, possibly one of the most alien things that's not actually from space. The curse should be alien too! Where are my beasts with 8+ limbs or tentacles or mouths covering his body? What if the beast becomes his castle or something? Can you imagine how hard it would be to fall in (romantic) love with a house? I want beasts where the physical transformation is a drastic downgrade in quality of life, like, it's hard to move, or he's got gills so he has to be in water all of the time.
Tumblr media
This is my personal version of the beast. He's slow, but strong, and it's hard for him to speak because he's got bug mouthparts. I think Lovecraftian type beasts would be fun to see, but that's outside of my artistic range so... also, can you imagine a beast that's basically a gibbering mouther? idk, someone should make some sort of D&D side quest like that.
I get that in Disney's case, they had to make the beast easy to animate with an expressive face, but do you know how easily that backfires? When he transforms into a prince, we all want the beast back. But can you imagine being Beauty and looking at the face of the most terrifying thing you've ever seen in your life, and you can't tell what it's thinking because he can't express emotions with his face or with body language because his body is so different from a human's?
Not to mention, the psychological effect this would have on the beast himself. He feels trapped in a body that is so foreign from his own, he had to learn how to move and speak and eat, and he knows that he is impossible to love. If you've ever read The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka, think of the physical and psychological difficulties Gregor experienced, and you know why I think making the beast's body more beastly can help make his character so much better.
Also, in the case of my beast's story, he didn't really deserve to be punished by the fairy, so he's a bit sore about that. This means that his personality is actually worse than when he was a prince, and thus one obstacle he has to overcome is being a bad person. And the person who helps him is...
The Merchant/Beauty's Father
You thought I was going to say Beauty, weren't you? Well, this is where I discuss my own Beauty and the Beast story a bit more, in which Beauty is barely present, because here's the thing. Love stories bore me. I hardly ever read romance novels unless they're funny. And while this particular story I'm coming up with doesn't have much in the way of romance, it does have some humor and action.
Basically, I liked how Maurice in the movie was this goofy little inventor, a good-natured guy who loves his daughter. So I'm throwing all of that out except the goofiness (and some of the good-naturedness). Basically, the merchant has a terrible sense of direction, so he ends up at the beast's castle, and the beast of course does the usual, "Bring your daughter here, or I'll lock you up forever," to which the merchant agrees. Rather quickly.
The problem is that the merchant with his tendency to get lost ends up coming back to the castle over and over again, until finally the beast is forced to accompany him back home (he has to hitch a ride in the merchant's wagon because it's hard for him to move). Except Beauty is not there, because her father took so long to get back home that she's now out looking for him. Hijinks ensue.
See, the reason I think having the beast and the merchant as a duo is an awesome idea is because both of them are flawed. The beast is grumpy and angry all of the time, and the merchant is pretty selfish. To be fair, the reason he throws his daughter under the bus is to save himself from being locked up, but I still think that's a flaw for a father, especially since he's now actively looking for his daughter because he cares so much about his own skin.
Anyways, as both of them search for Beauty, they are forced to acknowledge their own flaws and fix them in order to achieve their goal of finding Beauty, and eventually grow to respect each other. And now I have to confess something. The whole reason I went on this rant about Beauty and the Beast is because a while back I wrote, "What if Beauty's father was the beast's wingman?"
Tumblr media
That's right, it bothered me so much that Beauty's father would sacrifice his own daughter that I had to find a way to make it sweet and a little bit funny. The idea I had was that during this time the merchant and the beast were traveling together, they actually became friends, so much so that the merchant forgot that the guy he's genuinely singing praises about is a beast. Beauty, having gone through none of the stuff her father has, is worried about her father's sanity.
Also, I told my dad about this story, he had an awesome idea for the merchant and beast's road trip where they have to do basically a circus freak show thing with the beast so no one will go on a monster hunt, and the show is a naturally dehumanizing thing. Of course, the beast has already mentally dehumanized himself as much as anyone else can dehumanize him, but there are surprisingly humanizing moments that occur. A cliche example is a little girl giving the beast a flower or something. I love the idea, and my dad is awesome.
Beauty
Honestly, I'm pretty much okay with the variety we have when it comes to depicting the character of Beauty. One thing I would like to see though, is the conflict of Beauty loving someone else.
Like, in most Beauty and the Beast stories, the main reason Beauty says no to the beast's proposals is because he's a beast, which is fair. But inevitably, she falls in love with him, even if she doesn't realize it. And in none of these stories does she already have someone that she already loves so much more than the beast. Some stories have guys that are interested in Beauty, and she's interested in them, but those guys are pretty much forgotten once she goes to the castle.
But can you imagine how terrible it would feel to be forced to leave someone you love, because you don't want your father to die? Can you imagine how hard it would be to make the decision of either sending your father to his death or losing the man you thought you were going to marry? And when the beast asks if you'll marry him, you always say no, even when you consider him a friend, because your heart will always belong to someone else. That would be torture for both Beauty and the beast.
So, in my story, Beauty falls in love with someone else, a guy she met while looking for her father. He's funny and sweet, and they grow close during this adventure. And when her father and the beast finally catch up to them, her heart belongs to the man she met. I have an idea that the father wouldn't accept this, but the beast would. Having gone through character growth over the course of the story to become less angry, he would accept that Beauty was in love with someone else.
Because here's the thing: Beauty and the Beast is a great story about how pretty much anyone can find love, that it's what's on the inside that counts. However, not everyone is right for each other. You can go on a date with someone and just not feel any romantic interest, and that's okay. Sometimes you'll get along with them, enough to become friends, but never more than that. Plus, Stockholm Syndrome might have had a part to play in the original story... but that's a can of worms I'm not going to open right now.
Anyways, for my particular story, I don't know how to give the beast a happy ending, because it would be unfair of me to take Beauty away from her own happy ending just because Beauty should end up with the beast according to the original story. Maybe her own "beast" is the guy she ended up with, because I know he doesn't need to be particularly attractive and probably shouldn't be. So, uh, the beast is stuck as a beast for now because I deviated from the plot of the original story in a way that doesn't let him become human again... whoops. Maybe some sort of Penelope ending?
To sum up the version of Beauty and the Beast I came up with: The prince is turned into a beast by a fairy because of a perceived slight. Beauty's father, a merchant with a terrible sense of direction, gets lost and happens upon the beast's castle. In order to not be locked away forever, the merchant must bring his daughter to meet the beast, but because of his tendency to get lost, the beast is forced to escort the merchant back home. Beauty is gone, having left her house to look for her missing father, and now both the merchant and the beast must find her. Those two become friends as they travel, but it turns out that during her own travels, Beauty has met someone as well, and they fall in love. When Beauty and her father finally reunite, the beast is forced to face the reality that Beauty is in love with another man, so he will have to find another way to become human, or face the reality that he never will (again, I don't know how to end this story).
I'm realizing that I kind of made a completely different story using the characters of Beauty and the Beast, does it still count as a reimagining at least? The beginning is the same until Beauty has to go to the castle. I just wanted the characters to feel a bit different, but to do that I guess I changed the story too... ah well. I like fairy tales, I like character analysis, I have a version of Cinderella where she's actually a dragon... I guess that's just how I roll.

I've read a fanfic with a retelling of Beauty and The Beast with MC as a human and Kai Chisaki as a Vampire. He still had his quirk and taught MC magic, which I loved and adored.
But where's the Monsterhaul version?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We need more Monsterhaul fanfics 🔥😍❤️
Gimme soft Monsterhaul, him protecting his lover from his enemies trying to steal them away from him.
The inner man within him fighting his feral and basic instinct to claim them as his human consciousness fades and his monster side takes over.
Monsterhaul would be more honest, chirping, purring and whining when his lover doesn't give him attention.
A desperate and needy, big birdman.

Introducing Our Current Setting Focus: Wyld Space!
Wyld Space is a science fiction setting designed on the bones of the Cypher System, so many of the common features, mechanics, and tropes that you would expect from that combination will be present while you’re playing in this setting. However, Wyld Space is its own fully realized world (or system filled with worlds, as it may be) with all of its own original tweaks that make it what it is.
The important quirks of the Wyld Space setting are presented below, as a helpful primer to get you in the right headspace while you’re getting started. Most of these highlights will be explored in greater detail in their appropriate sections later in this book.
You Go Hard, The Sci-Fi Doesn’t
Wyld Space is not a hard science fiction setting. The capability of technology that is available strays far outside the realm of current possibility and dances on the outskirts of the fantastic. Starships powered by cores that make traveling through star systems and back as easy as taking a trip to the town over, nanotechnology that can mend metals designed to withstand the wildest space anomalies, machines that can create food and water out of thin air. The difference in access between those living in collective space and those braving the unknown of flux space may make the availability of certain advancements difficult to come by, but even the most backwater station floating past the bounds of the helix sphere will have use of some piece of tech that would look like magic to those out of the know.
Who You Are
Tumblr media
In this setting, humans don’t exist. And beyond that, only the dustiest xenobiologist believes that those ancient aliens ever really existed in the first place. You instead play as wylds, the dominant sapient genus that has claimed the known galaxy and carried the torch of civilization into space. Wyldkind is varied and beautiful, composed of highly evolved anthropomorphic versions of the myriad mammals, birds, and reptiles that you can currently see around you on Earth.
Additionally, you play as an outlier—someone who has been designated as irregular and nonconformist by the Intergalactic Network of Collectives (the governing body of collective space) and the sinister megacorps that truly call the shots behind the scenes. Being designated as an outlier could mean a lot of things in Wyld Space. It could mean that you take direct action against the systems that you see as corrupt. It could simply mean that you want to live as freely and purely as possible on your own terms. It could also mean that you’re an active criminal running various contraband back and forth through flux space. At the end of the day, being an outlier means that you refuse to cow down to the accepted status quo.
Who They Are
The primary antagonists of Wyld Space are the government and the corporations that secretly control it. The Intergalactic Network of Collectives (INC), although founded with lofty goals and good intentions, was quickly corrupted by the influence and money of the three megacorps that were allowed to bloat out of control. Mercenary groups, bounty hunters, and purchased police are just a fraction of the corpo agents that you’ll have to maneuver as you traverse the setting.
Void Titans
Colossal beasts with their own biological equivalents of ship-to-ship weaponry, void titans (or simply titans) are creatures that stalk flux space and hunt the starships that brave the sector. Trapped behind the fury of the helix sphere, those who stay within the safety of collective space never have to worry about these alien terrors—which is knowledge that the megacorps are more than happy to propagate.
Element 427: Foxfire
Element 427, called foxfire by everyone but corpo scientists, was the miracle discovery that changed the course of wyldkind forever. Not truly understood, but coveted nonetheless, foxfire is a quantum material highly valued for its matter-enhancing and physics-defying characteristics. Any of the truly fantastic properties exhibited by ships, weapons, cyphers, or artifacts can be tied to foxfire, and its presence in flux space is what drives the megacorps to push into the sector.
Kinetics
Whether the result of genetic tampering, the presence of foxfire, or a little of both, there are wylds who can manipulate the world around them using only the powers of their mind. Called kinetics, these incredible people can create fire, generate electricity, or turn their bodies into living weapons with only a thought.
And that’s only a portion of what you’ll be able to unlock and explore in Wyld Space!

I have a huge gripe with the film industry. I am tired of plays/musicals being turned into movies and remakes in general.
That doesn't mean the movies aren't good. Plenty of the movies are fine and show a great deal of skill and talent. Some of the earliest remakes were used to broaden the idea, and character study the established IP, to bring new meaning into it. It offered a fresh look to the series to get people thinking critically about the story in new ways. As much as recycling IP annoys me now, it used to be so good to see things through a new perspective, or with added perspective. But now, the remakes are more of a sloppily written fan creation, like if someone completely missed the point and themes in a story, but still wanted to 'remaster' it. And things getting lost in the remake can dull the initial meaning of the story down.
Like, I severely dislike the live action beauty and the beast remake because although it added backstory to Belle and her family, it was just a carbon copy of the original, with an added scene to 'add new content'. And the live action lion king is just... Ew.
The Cats movie loses the original charm of the musical, the charm of the on stage dance numbers and audience participation that you get during live performances. (I have seen it live and it's so good, but even just watching it on VHS was wondrous).
Be More Chill is a great example of this actually, though it's a book that's musical adaptation was vastly different, but my point of remakes is still easily explained through it! It was initially a book, then it was adapted into a graphic novel, a play, and finally a musical! And certain things changed between each version. The graphic novel and play adaptations of the book were very true to the original story, keeping the characters and their quirks consistent, even if we lost some of the context without the original text. As someone who found the book backwards (musical -> play -> book) I feel uniquely qualified to explain the differences and how they hindered the original story's message.
In the book:
Michael has fetishistic views of Asian women, is a stoner, and isn't exactly a super nice guy. He, from my perspective, seems totally fine to ditch Jeremy for a chance with a 'hot Asian girl' but gets upset when Jeremy ditches him for something. We don't feel much sympathy for him when Jeremy distances himself from him other than 'Oh, they used to be close and now they aren't... oof'. And that's fine! We weren't really supposed to like or dislike Michael. He was a teenager with flaws and a skewed perception of the world. He was human and imperfect.
The book gives more clarity to Rich, the main bully, and his situation. He has a disruptive home life that keeps him on edge and explains why he lashes out so easily (that and his SQUIP). s
Since Rich has social status, it's best for Jeremy to make peace and keep him as an ally. Because of this, Rich briefly becomes vulnerable with Jeremy. The reader learns that although Rich isn't doing good things he isn't wholly bad either. We get a brief nugget about his home life, even if it isn't gone into detail. That information makes the reader more sympathetic to Rich when he sets a house on fire and ends up hospitalized after Rich's SQUIP takes a turn for the worst.
Christine is the main crush. In the book and stage play we see her brimming with confidence and not taking shit from anyone. She's not cold, but she isn't the most pleasant to be around. In truth, I only liked her in the book because I had a soft spot for her in the musical. But she's not someone I would normally like had I met her through the book first.
The ending of the book has the SQUIP realize that he's hurting Jeremy, and tells Jeremy to kill him. The SQUIP becomes actively suicidal and makes the reader feel almost sympathetic and sad for him. As a final act of goodwill, and as an apology, the SQUIP takes control of Jeremy one last time to write a book for him to explain to Christine what happened, a book that we find out is the very book we've been reading. (This ending changes to Jeremy writing a graphic novel or a play in the other adaptations). It's important that we feel sad for the SQUIP, even a little (I'll explain why that's important later).
But the musical (as amazing as it is, I love it) completely changed the characters and purpose of the initial ending.
Michael is more laid back and kind, a better friend and person overall. It takes away from him being a teenage dirtbag, and makes it much more obvious to the viewer that something is going wrong very early on. The point of the initial story is for us to be cautious of the SQUIP, but in the musical it's very obvious it's bad because no one rationally cuts off a friend like Michael for not being 'cool enough'. Jeremy has no reason to distance himself from Michael, even if he wants to be cooler, because Michael is a good friend who's there to hype him up and make him a better version of himself. The SQUIP would have done better to make Michael an ally than to push him away. It makes the progression of the story weird by following the same events as the book with the dynamics of the musical versions of Jeremy and Michael.
Rich's backstory from what I remember is completely omitted. I remember being very surprised by his backstory in the book because it just... Didn't happen in the musical. He's just a bully who 'played nice' once to progress the story, and then disappeared until the ending scene.
Christine is much more likeable in the musical. She's nicer and more bubbly. She wears her heart on her sleeve. She's actually someone worth pursuing in terms of personality. It makes her seem almost gullible, and takes away from the tough persona she had in the book. Genuinely, I think Jeremy was attracted to her rough confidence in the book, and it was weird to see the stark contrast between their relationship in each version.
The musical's ending is for the SQUIP to try and dominate the entire world, by SQUIPing the entire school.
In the book (and play and graphic novel) Jeremy Heere's SQUIP is doing it's genuine best to provide the service it was intended to, even if the methods were unorthodox and downright cruel in some points. (Makes sense given that it's an analogy for addiction). But the original story has the SQUIP admit that it's broken, that it deserves to be removed and killed. This was intentional and important for the reader, to feel sympathy for the SQUIP. It shows the juxtaposition of knowing that the addiction is harmful, and still relying on it and continuing with it. Jeremy breaks away from the SQUIP (addiction), but the emotions show that it was difficult.
Meanwhile in the musical, the SQUIP is pure evil, looking to dominate the world. The story's dynamics completely changed when it was adapted to the musical (and the character's personalities and stories were changed or not shown at all, which changes how you perceive them). The musical, while using the same characters and basic building blocks, is like a rewritten version.
By remaking the story, the purpose and intelligent storytelling of the original source material is lost. And we see changes like this a lot with movies remakes, where remaking the story and changing things here and there can drastically change the original message.
Hamilton, for all its faults in and out of fandom, was an incredible look at what we could have if people satisfied themselves with the limitations of a stage production being recorded and accepted as a valid medium. There aren't a bunch of CGI effects, just practical. There was technique and art in the music, the dance, and the way the story was told. It was clever and fun, and although not fully historically accurate, was entertaining.
Which is not to say that film isn't an art. It is! With it's own rules and guidelines and formats. But some stories are made for a book, some are some are made for musicals, and some are made for film. Transferring one medium to the other creates a translation issue. You lose and gain things across each version. My biggest problem is when the adaptations and remakes aren't well thought out, where the original ends up better by default because there wasn't enough consideration taken when transferring the data to a new format.
You can shift from the original source material's flow if it allows for added context that is imperative to the story. You don't have to treat the OG as gospel. Changing things in a remake is to be expected, and improving upon flaws is fine. But you need to do it with intention.
Changing Michael to be less of a teenage dirtbag is fine, but he should have lasted longer in the story since he was no longer ditching Jeremy for 'hot chicks'. Their bond should have been harder for Jeremy to break since Jeremy wasn't just hanging with him for the weed or the 'we're losers' companionship. (And I'm aware that the SQUIP influenced Jeremy's ability to perceive Michael, but Jeremy was too easily swayed to turn back on the feature to make Michael invisible to him).
Rich was more than a druggie who burned down a house later. He had a reason to try and make himself tougher. He wanted to have control over one aspect of his life, and he didn't have the luxury of doing that at home. But we don't see that in the musical adaptation.
When the remakes are using big names not for their talent but for the money they bring in, and when the story is only changed enough to technically make it 'a new look' at the story, you aren't giving it life. You're making a soulless rendition of a once beautiful narrative.
Remakes aren't inherently bad. But they need to be done with purpose, not as a careless cash grab.

REVIEW: The Once and Future King by T.H. White
Tumblr media
SUMMARY (Provided by Goodreads)
T. H. White’s masterful retelling of the saga of King Arthur is a fantasy classic as legendary as the sword Excalibur and city of Camelot that are found within its pages. This magical epic takes Arthur from the glorious lyrical phase of his youth, through the disillusioning early years of his reign, to maturity when his vision of the Round Table develops into the search for the Holy Grail, and finally to his weary old age. With memorable characters like Merlin and Owl and Guinevere, beasts who talk and men who fly, wizardry and war, The Once and Future King has become the fantasy masterpiece against which all others are judged, a poignant story of adventure, romance, and magic that has enchanted readers for generations.
MY REVIEW: 5/5 Stars
I spent the last 15 minutes reading this book crying, not necessarily because it was sad (it was more bittersweet) but more because I didn't want it to end.
Before reading this, I had heard almost nothing about it. I read articles claiming that this book was a fantasy classic, a book to which all other fantasy stories should be compared. I will admit, I was a little skeptical.
The first part of the book chronicles Arthur's childhood, and I'll be honest, I had no idea where it was going. It was a little wacky, but I loved it. There were parts where I literally laughed out loud! I loved Merlin's character throughout the book, and I loved his weird quirks. Later on, the book becomes much more serious, and it turns into a beautiful epic. I don't know how accurate this story is to the actual tales of King Arthur, but to me, this will always feel like the truest version of the myths.
This story is about far more than King Arthur, his knights, and the Round Table. It is about a man who struggles his entire life with the question of "might vs. right." Everything he does (from founding the Round Table, to ignoring that his best friend and wife are lovers) is in service of making England a place where "might" (the strong) is used in service of "right" (the good), instead of a place where strength is the ultimate good.
In the end, Arthur is an old man who is weary after long years of struggling to make England not just great, but Good. Ultimately, he fails, but he fails trying to do the right thing instead of succeeding in doing the wrong.
This story is one of my favorite books I have ever read, and I hope to read it again someday.

Sanguine Friday 3
This friday is for the second protagonist and the love interets, Duchess Eliza.
Beautiful art once again done by @lilleeboi (keep an eye out because there will be an updated version :3)
Tumblr media
Name: Elizabeth
Gender: Cisgender woman
Pronouns: She/her
Age: 118yrs
Height: 204cm
Orientation: Aromantic Bisexual
Affiliation: Goddess Lurza and the vampire faction
Belief faction: The worshipers of the Unwillting Rose
Personality: Eliza has a condescending, confident nature of a predator sure of their strength. Once a high-class lady, now a sharp toothed monster, Eliza wishes for nothing more than to be seen as she once was. Beautiful, elegant, worthy of admiration and awe. She carries herself with those assumptions and Lurza help those who may contradict them because Eliza is not of forgiving kind. The vampire world is one made of lies and illusions and Eliza is more than happy to play her part. She pays close attention to manners and etiquette even when doing the most monstrous deeds, as even the most gruesome acts must be prettied up and presented in the right way. This doesn’t make her any less of a vampire though. She nurtures a sadistic nature, a love to play with her prey much like a cat, toying with them until the moment she gets bored and devours what is left. When tables are turned and those of higher power start toying with her, fracturs in the mask appear. She has little patience for being talked down to, for her status being questioned or for being dismissed. Such irritations quickly lead to passive aggressiveness and, if uncurbed, vengeful violence. She is a pretty beast but she is still a beast when the chips are down. (Second) life long worshiper of Lurza, Eliza is pretty much a fanatic, hosting parties and sacrificial ceremonies in her goddess’ name. She spares little blood for these events, wanting to get the goddess attention and hoping to be blessed by her. The natural state of decay the vampires find themselves in distresses her greatly, and she hopes that with enough worship her goddess might look upon her kindly, return the beauty she once possessed and grant her eternal salvation from the curse. She cares little if any other vampire gets the same benefit. While seemingly heavily social in nature, Eliza is very much the kind of person who puts herself and her own well being first. In the end this world is a food chain and she is going to make sure she ends up on top of it.
Appearance: There is no such thing as too much. Eliza is a lady of fine society and that is visible in the way she dresses. Full ball gowns, plentiful jewellery and high heels to match are the order of the day. Her signature colors and red and black, with gold accents here and there to spruce up the ensemble. She is quite found of big, hanging earrings and detailed necklaces and collars as it’s incredibly base to show one’s neck in the presence of other vampires. The illusion magic she weaves over herself leaves her hair looking rich and thick and gives somewhat of a blush to her skin, but she is still incredibly pale as there must, after all, be a visible difference between a distinguished vampire and a lowly human. Her real form is something else entirely. Underneath the layers of magic, Eliza is a decrepit, sunken in monster, with sickly, pale pink skin collapsing in waves over her features. Her nails sharp as claws and teeth crooked and stained with blood. Her hair a lifeless mop upon her misshapen head. She considers it better for people to die than to walk away having seen her true form.
Interests: Dancing, music, fashion, gossip
Fears: Break ins, people seeing her true self
Habits and quirks: Sadistic and playful in her manner of speaking, she often talks down to people and ghosts over their opinions entirely if they don’t match hers. She loves great many things and marks each with a special pet name.
Goals: Advance her position in the vampire society and become recognized by her goddess
Lines in the sand: Eliza is the type to go with the flow of almost anything as long as it’s going in her favor. Trouble arises when her authority and class is questioned and when the fact that she’s a relatively low ranked vampire is brought up. Polite society can take a lot, but not mockery. Attempting to reveal, or even just seeing her true for on accident provokes untameable wrath.
Nightmare of the body: Like with all the vampires, Eliza’s observable body is an illusion. A magic trick designed specifically to counter the curse resting on their kind which leaves their bodies decaying. Eliza cannot make her peace with it. She despises her real body and puts extra efforts in always maintaining her illusion, often fiddling with the little details of it. She will wear it socially, but also privately, only breaking effort to keep up the magic when she is absolutely sure nobody will see her for a good amount of time. And even then, she avoids mirrors like a plague and tries not to perceive the way her body looks. Accepting her body the way it is seems like a completely impossible task and one she would rather die than undertake.

💧 rain for the weather asks babey fuck me up
💧Rain - What's the most emotional scene you've ever written?
OHOOOOO we have so many contenders because i love writing sad shit—i got so many you could probably ask me this question several times and get a different answer LMAO. but honest to god i think sword of a great hero is my most painful excerpt because it’s just… the calm before the storm. lath and ensio both know they’re gonna die. and just UGHHHH.
since it seems that in haven’t posted this excerpt on this version of my blog have it in its entirety here and cry :)
##
“This will be our final stand.” Lath touched a hand to his chest. He could feel the sluggish bleeding from under the gash in his armor that lead to the gaping wound in his upper abdomen, just underneath his ribcage. There was no one to heal him now — hadn’t had anything like that since they started this death march — at this point his nerves were beyond the point of registering pain. The others who’d joined him were long dead now: either picked off or mauled, died with a fight gnashing in their teeth, or a whimper absolving from their throat. Only two of them from the initial 33 warriors remained, and somehow Lath always knew it would come to this.
Ensio stood astride him, his regal bow broken and long forgotten. Lath had given him his second sword to wield in its stead, and the grip was slightly off, and the blade shorter than he remembered Ensio liked, but it would do. Neither of them fought with the expectation to live. In the clearing where they stood, a large, curled structure rose, towering to almost the heavens above them and was teeming with magic so strong that Lath could practically smell it. The Labyrinth. The voice of Their Lady MUINENS boomed from the heavens. As your final stand, you will drive them to their dungeon.
“Aye.” Ensio’s usual baritone was a rough wheeze. If they’d had time to rest, to heal, Lath would’ve guessed it was a punctured lung. He’d taken a claw to the sternum hard in a battle days before, and had been wheezing since. Lath could not offer him any comforting hand… Ensio wouldn’t have wanted it either. But the two men stood beside one another, waiting for their cue
“What do you suppose Cerullius is like?” Ensio garnered to ask. Though he’d assured Lath it was fine that the grip was off — better him, the regular sword wielder, have the better blade after all — he was still fidgeting with his grip, whirling it between his fingers, like the drills they ran together as boys. “Do you think it’d be as warm and comforting as a fine pair of tits?”
“Even on your deathbed, you’re a lech.” Lath’s golden eyes scanned the horizon. It seemed fitting that they would die on the brink of a beautiful morning. That the land here was so wholly unfamiliar but was beautiful somehow. There were no trees or swamps or lakes around— only a large expanse of grassland and short, wiley flowers that had the audacity to bloom. If Lath were a more poetic man, he would pity them. Soon they would be covered with blood, and guts, and entrails, and stinking corpses, of beasts who refused to be herded, and the bodies of two Terraneans who dared to pretend they were shepherds.
“It’s not as though either of us would ever know.” Ensio mused, but not unkindly. “Your horrible habit of unblinking deterred so many.”
“Yet your horrible beard drove off more.” Lath quipped back and the rumble of a chuckle that left Ensio, even as he continued to bleed, made a quirk of a smirk tug at Lath’s lips.
“I would offer to let you experience it on my own chest, as a parting gift,” Ensio started. “But I’m afraid this armor is too hard to remove one handed.” Lath’s eyes flickered back from the horizon to his friend. His left arm still hung only barely in its socket enough to be a meager semblance of functional. If they had anything to cauterize it, Lath would’ve offered to cut it off for him— spare him the dead weight. But they didn’t. And Lath didn’t want to watch his friend bleed out. At least in the frenzy of battle, Ensio’s final cry would hopefully be the only thing he’d witness of it. He had stared death in the face since the day he was born, yet the thought of it cradling its welcoming hands around his closest friend wasn’t something Lath could reconcile with himself.
“Do you regret following me?” Lath asked suddenly. A wind had begun to pick up from the west and both men turned to face it. Though they could not yet hear it, Lath knew Ensio’s sharp, hawk brown eyes would’ve been able to pick out the first details of the beasts and monsters headed this way. He would see their horns, feathers, too wide jaws, inhuman structures and limbs. He would see them fleeing towards what would become their new sanctuary— or prison. The Labyrinth gleamed like a gem in the climbing morning light, with its two guards to usher in the onslaught. The creatures’s flight was brought on by their own gods, they both knew. And though neither men could see them, they’d had more proof than they had in their entire lives that those beings they worshipped were tangible. That they were there.
“The only thing that I regret is not having a roll in the sack just once before I died.”
“Be serious.”
Ensio turned to Lath. And as always, his eyes were dark with a wisdom Lath never claimed to understand, and never would, not as long as the two of them were alive. They turned soft with something like fondness. “I would rather die a hero by your side than waste away in Ubwyn, surrounded by every waking reminder of those I’ve failed.”
“You haven’t failed.” Lath couldn’t help but growl. Yet, Ensio went on calmly, unperturbed by his outburst.
“My mother died. My brothers, my sisters. We couldn’t bury them, we could only leave them behind. It’s not the little king’s fault, nor Zenith’s, nor yours. I just know my father will be heartbroken that he will only see me in Cerullius, not his love, nor the starlight’s that lit his life. If I die by you, Lath, maybe our journey to Cerullius won’t be so horrible. Maybe I can use this as penance for not guiding the rest of my family home.” He let out a shuddering breath—a wheeze. “It’s not a bad death, to die by my truest, dearest friend.” Lath could only hum. And as the shrieking and wailing of the beasts drew near, Lath let his hand over his wounded chest go limp, and he shuffled to Ensio, pulling the taller man into a tight, crushing hug. His armor plates cut Lath’s cheek, and the hug was far too tight for either of their aching ribs but it was important and needed and real. Ensio pulled back first.
“Our people will remember you, Lath. As the hero you were always meant to be. Even if you never received your Oracle’s Blessing, your valor is worth far more than that.”
“What was your Oracle’s Blessing En?” Lath couldn’t help but ask. It wasn’t a secret commonly shared but he suddenly felt that he needed to know. Ensio’s tired lips quirked into a bemused smile.
“To play the sword of a great hero.”

Poster Study 1/6/24
3 Types of Poster:
Type-Led:
These will often be dictated by the energy of the typeface, but they can also be dictated by the energy of the composition.
Sometimes the type is an image and is in the same language as the image itself. It can also be a different type of image which lends itself to a strong contrast. i need to understand more of what types of things work best with contrast.
the type is typically 1/3 of the page. or typically one straight line as large as it can go across the width of the page.
This will depend on the typeface but there are many examples of this kind of poster being retro. think stacked newspaper headlines, title fight posters.
Tumblr media
(weirdly the most attention is drawn to the image here bc everything else is a screaming headline (all caps, headline font, goes to the width of the page) i would say this is 1/5 image? 4/5 text? 1/6?) Image-Led:
Paintings with type along the bottom. Some of these are even about hiding the text within the image. That is certainly something i want to learn how to do. make it blend thoroughly with the image.
Image led typically has more to say with the image. so one way to quirk it would be to have the image not say much at all. to have it be an everyday photo, not unlike that painting that guy did of a standard iphone photo.
One thing i love about image led posters is that they encapsulate, but often narrowly miss/align with the message of the client. they tell a story that is close to what is going on, but is not actually what is going on. i think there’s a beauty in that transformation. and i wonder what the type equivalent would be. i guess you could lie with the words of the poster but that doesn’t seem super appealing.
what would be my version of that.
Typically these posters will have a stripe of type along the bottom or the side. But some designers view that strip of type as a crutch. i think it depends on how it's executed.
Tumblr media
(for example i love the way this poster does the strip of type. gives it its own dimension etc. can certainly be done well just is easily trite if not approached thoughtfully)
Compositionally-Led:
Sometimes these are about tying together the type and the image together fluently. Sometimes they are about showing how inspired by dutch typographic layouts you are. I think these pieces are beast and they are the ones i understand the least. will do a whole post on these at some point.

He’s been giving you “gifts” for a couple of months now. It’s still unnerving as ever and yet you’ve come to expect it. It’s become part of your morning routine. You wake up, wander to your kitchen for your morning beverage, and go to check your porch. There is always something.
A femur here, a necklace of teeth there. You know, normal things.
It’s like a fucked up version of waiting for the mailman or daily newspaper. And when you return at night after work, there is a chance he’s brought another corporal item that he deems treasure.
You wondered often where he was getting these bodies. Did he actively seek people out? Was it just unlucky fellows who stumbled into the wrong neck of the woods? Were they scavenged remains? (You really doubted that—there was some sort of twisted meticulousness and simultaneous viscousness in each item he left).
Speaking of which—that duality—it’s intriguing. You know that he’s not human. The wounds left on some of the bodies are atrocious and mangy. Only a beast could have caused it. Something with large teeth and claws and a nasty bite. Yet, some of the items are beautiful for how morbid they are. So intricately put together—they must have taken hours. Large strings of bones into pieces of art, each individually picked for you. It was put together with the passion of a painter for their canvas. Terrifyingly human.
At first you thought he meant to kill you—that the bone trinkets were a cruel taunt. A vision of your death meant to terrify you. A predator playing with its prey. And then after a rough day—your boss had been reaming you for a problem you didn’t cause—you came home to a familiar face on your porch. Your then boss’ mangled and gray head sat on your porch like a depraved version of a jack-o-lantern. His eyes sat pretty on a platter for you. You knew it was him who had caused it. You hadn’t known how to feel—a lot petrified and a little sickly satisfied.
From then on you noticed it more often. The skeletons he left you weren’t random at all. That old man who’d catcalled you on the street, that kid who’d tried to steal your phone, that woman who spilled her coffee on you right before an important business meeting—they were all there on your porch, preserved as pearly bony adornments.
And you realized even though you’d never seen the monster in the woods, he’d been watching you always. And you had unwillingly garnered his affections.
But the longer time passed, it was a little less bad (or maybe you were just trying to rationalize your odd situation). The beast kept you safe. No one stood in your way because they all laid on your porch.
You quickly learned how to dispose of the bodies. Something nagged at you—surely it was only right that you protect this little “affectionate quirk” of his in thanks. Thanks for what, you weren’t entirely sure but regardless your home was filled with bleach and dirt. Scraping away the remnants of your supposed enemies.
Today, you wondered what he’d leave for you. You hoped there was something. Work had been dreadful. Forced into overtime and dealing with the pettiest woman alive. Snide and rude she attacked you relentlessly, greedy for your position at your company. Last thing she said before leaving was an immature comment about your way of dress. She’d insulted your earrings which you’d received from your late grandmother. You ignored it, she wasn’t worth the energy but as you commuted home you couldn’t help but hope some type of retribution reached her (perhaps in the form of a violent and protective hybrid living behind your house).
When you arrived home, the porch light was off. A sign your hybrid had come. You eagerly exited your car—a sick twang of anticipation shooting through your veins. And when you reached the porch there was only one thing.
A hand.
Her hand.
Severed from her body, on your porch, was the bratty woman’s hand—well the remainder of it. As always, only the bones were left. They were shiny as if licked clean. And on her ring finger was a band with a single heart shaped ruby embedded in it.
That was new. Most of the jewelry he left you was made of bones or teeth or nails. And yet, sitting bright and pretty like a star in the gloomy dark was a gorgeous ring. You leaned closer to inspect it—the ruby reflected light in various different shades of red. The band was well crafted, seemingly forged to its shape. Even the band shone. It was a deep obsidian color, and it was textured—rough and hard but smooth. Was that a scale? It was pointed periodically throughout it. You concluded that it was indeed a scale—broken down and finely weaved together to make a delicate pattern.
If you had to guess, you’d say it was one of his own scales. The beast that lived in your woods and doted on you with the bones of others had given you a bone of his own. A dragon’s scale. From one body to another. His body to yours.
And you realized it wasn’t just a vile desire or beastly instinct that caused him to leave you such grisly gifts. It was the utmost worship of a body. The most intimate thing—a piece of the corpus presented for a chosen love. The highest form of trust—to give your own flesh to another. And now your most devoted courter—destroyer of countless bodies as seen upon your porch—had given you a piece of himself. His own bone and flesh in the form of a ring.
It was such a gorgeous ring.
I started writing a horror fic titled “someone lives behind the house,” starring Sylus as a feral human/dragon hybrid who offers anyone who’s wronged you as a corpse on your porch. At first, it’s unnerving and terrifying that this creature offers you mangled bodies and jewelry crafted from human bones like a love confession. But eventually, you grow fond of him, and let’s just say you’ve become pretty decent at dissolving and burying human remains to protect him. That fic will probably never see the light of day.

video games + fantasy and magic + quirk society + League:
*
“—So they’re all quirkless… But Shuuichi-kun just said some of them can shoot fire or shadow blasts.”
“Those aren’t quirks. It’s magic.”
“Like what Mister does?”
“No, it’s real magic. Er, well, real magic inside the story.”
“Sounds incredible! What the heck is real magic.”
“Ah, that. Magic is the stuff of dreams, of wonders, and grasping it within the palms of—“
“That’s got nothing to do with Insignia of the Inferno: Emergence. Don’t listen to him. Magic is a skill. It’s a supernatural power that performs ranged attacks which affects the stats of the target. You know, their condition, their health points, them as a character!”
“That just sounds like a quirk…”
“Well it isn’t! It’s fantasy. That’s how fantasy games and stories worked back then. Classical fantasy, about ancient and feudal times.”
“Ehhhh. All the stories I read when I was little had quirks. Like, Beauty and the Beast? The Beast Prince is a heteromorph, and Belle could touch mirrors to see faraway things! Or! Or like Momotaro can talk to animals, and Usagi had a transformation quirk—“
“Those don’t count as classical fantasy—“
“All those stories have all been changed from the original ones, to suit this modern extraordinary age. Remember, Toga-chan, no one had quirks back then. For most of human history until relatively recently, we were quirkless. In those original tales, the folklores and myths, the characters instead had divine blessings or otherworldly gifts… Magic, as it were.”
“Hmm…”
“Yeah, what Mister said. In Insignia, which is classical fantasy, everyone is quirkless. But! Some people, called mages, could do magic. And magic can be learned. As you level up, you learn more spells, you can use different types of attack depending on the kind of enemy. Back to the story, Alouet discovers a magic tome that contains the three ancient spells to seal away the—”
“That sounds unfair. They can do magic, but also have multiple magics?”
“Toga-chan is right, that’s cheating! And also sorta like your teacher, Shigaraki.”
“…Heh.”
“I told you guys, magic. is. not. quirks. And all mages know multiple—”
“Okay, okay! I know, magic is magic. So what happens next? Keep going, Shuuichi-kun.”
“I am! Alouet discovers the tome, and realizes that to seal away the Seven-Eyed Beast, they must travel to the each of the Three Celestial Dragons’ realms. At each realm, Prince Rhod - who has the Grace of Dawn that’s passed through the royal bloodline - performs the ritual to summon—”
“The Prince is a mage?“
“No, he’s not. Remember? The royal family had sworn to forsake magic—”
“But then how can he have this dragon summon power?”
“It’s not magic. This is something only the royal family have—”
“So they’re the only ones with a dragon quirk. I get it! I’m completely lost.”
“How many times do I have to—”
“It’s all game mechanisms, none of it has to make sense. Magic is just an attack that deals damage. Think of it as different types of weapons. Bow and arrows, throwing daggers, swords. You can get any one of them. You can use each one. That’s what magic spells are. Weapons.”
“Ooh, gotcha. And Prince Rhod?”
“Demigod. He summons dragons because they recognize him as a descendant of their former masters.”
“And then?”
“He gets the dragons, they kill the Beast, they retrieve the crown, and he’s King. The End.”
“…That’s it?”
“There’s more than that! And Prince Rhod isn’t—“
“King Rhod, now that he has the crown. Great! Wonderful retelling. Only took up…three-fourths of the hour. Now, it’s getting late—”
“Mister, I’m not finished.”
“He’s sick of your stupid video game story, Spinner! I liked it! But not really.”
“…It’s more fun to play it.”
“You’re just also a big nerd, Tomura-kun. You and Shuuichi-kun both are, classic-magic-quirk-fairy-tale-fantasy-whatever video games otakus.”
“Magic isn’t— You’re doing this on purpose, Toga! Hey—!”
“But don’t worry, I’ll still hang out with you guys~~”
*
tl;dr: Imagine how much nerdier Shigaraki and Spinner might actually seem when they have to explain historical conceptualizations of magic on top of the game mechanisms itself. RIP

Eijiro Kirishima –  as Li Shang from Mulan
-        *Mulan voice* Eijiro? Eijiro? Eijiroooo
-        Eijiro Kirishima is the handsome son of the Army General and it’s very obvious that everyone swoons for him. Yes, everyone in the army.
-        He’s manly, brave, sweet, caring, and responsible. What more can a soldier ask for?
-        “LET’S GET DOWN TO BUSINESS! TO DEFEAT THE VILLAINS!” (ok that sounded better in my head)
-        during the “I make a man out of you” sequence, kirishima uses his hardening quirk to not only hype up his warriors but also for that extra effect. He’s just bad-ass and hot like that.
-        Eijiro wakes up at 5 am to train and work out. And yes, he does that shirtless. It helps him move a lot more and of course, it’s pleasing to the eyes.
-        H I S T O N E D M U S C L E S. that’s it. That’s the headcanon.
-        He needs that daily grind after all !
-        You swear you could hear the other soldiers sigh dreamily every time they catch him work out.
-        Whenever he praises his fellow comrades, he smiles a very cheeky smile, his shark teeth cutely popping out and it’s just so endearing and charming.
-        After being ridiculed and belittled by your fellow comrades for being physically weak, you wanted to prove them that they were wrong. You continue to stay determined as you decided to create your training regime that consisted of waking up at 5 am in the morning to train too (and this was prior to knowing that kirishima would wake up at the same time to work out too. Oooh~ what a coincidence.)
-        “(Y/N)! You like him? Helloooooo!? Him and I even share the same hair color! He ain’t worth it!”
-        “Mushu, please. You are a discount version of him. Now, I’m going to go and train now.”
-        You leave your tent at exactly 5 am, and as you began to stretch and do warm-ups outside, the biggest tent across yours suddenly opens up too, revealing General Eijiro Kirishima… in his shirtless getup.
-        “A-ah! Good Morning General Kirishima!” You stand up straight, shifting your weight to the right leg and bending your left, bowing to him.
-        He nods at you, shooting you a small smile. “You’re up early. Early for a new recruit! Do you plan to train?”
-        “Y-yes! I will be using the pole and training weights sir!” You bow your head, as you remain standing straight.
-        He hands you over the weights. He refuses to give it to you, instead insists to tie it on your wrists and help you up the wooden pole.
-        General Kirishima holds you by the waist, making sure you don’t fall and you’re positioned correctly onto the pole. “Alright. You’re positioned in the right way now, you may proceed.”
-        You continue to hold onto it, lowkey about to bang your head on the wooden pole as you were about to die of embarrassment.
-        “(Y/N), he’s just being nice and just treats you like any other soldier under his command. Don’t expect too much!” Mushu whispers from your side, as soon as general kiri steps back and was not within earshot of the two of you.
-        “I don’t have my hopes up at all, Mushu. I’m not expecting anything.” You sigh, trying to reassure yourself as you began climbing up. The weights pull you down, but you must persevere.
-        “You can do this, (L/N)!”
-        “(L/N)!?” You squeak, losing your focus, slipping down the pole and back to square one. You were a fumbling mESS
-        “woah woah woah. Is everything alright?” he was about to hold onto your waist again, making sure you don’t fall off or fall down. You collect yourself before becoming too flustered to answer.
-        “Y-yes General Kirishima! I’m fine!”
-        When your gender had finally been revealed after the battle against the villains, Kirishima did not feel betrayed albeit just disappointed that you had to hide that fact for far too long and wasn’t being open to him when the two of you became much closer
-        He’s been in love with you ever since the beginning.
-        He’s always admired your passion and your drive. However, due to him being the general, he wasn’t so sure to approach you without being biased.
-        “You don’t find a girl like that in every hero’s journey.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Katsuki Bakugo – as The Beast
-        Once upon a time, in a faraway land, a blonde young prince lived in a     shining castle.  Although he had everything his heart desired and his quirk was one of the most powerful many have seen, the prince was belligerent, selfish, and unkind.  But then, one winter's night, an old beggar woman came to the castle and offered him a single rose in return for shelter from the bitter cold.
-       Repulsed by her haggard appearance, the prince sneered at the gift and turned the old woman away, but she warned him not to be deceived by appearances, for beauty is found within. And when he dismissed her again, the old woman's ugliness melted away to reveal a beautiful enchantress.  The prince tried to apologize, but it was too late, for she had seen that there was no love and no humbleness in his heart, and as punishment, she transformed him into a hideous beast, and placed a powerful spell on the castle, and all who lived there.
-        We’ve been known, the B in bakugo stands for beast (insert lenny face for a certain implication)
-        Essentially, Bakugo had two quirks at once. Not only was he now a beast, (a physical quirk) but he also has his explosion quirk.
-        He’d pretty much look the same as the beast from the Disney movie, however there’s some blonde highlights in his fur and he’s much more aggressive and intimidating to look at. His fangs more emphasized and he has a much softer appearance; like that of a huge pomeraninan.
-        Ok…. no thoughts head empty just thinking about katsuki having an even huskier voice now that he’s transformed into a beast.
Katsuki Bakugo, who was ashamed of his newly transformed monstrous appearance, shut himself in his castle, The rose the old woman had offered was truly an enchanted rose, which would bloom until his twenty-first year.  If he could learn to love another, and earn her love in return by the time the last petal fell, then the spell would be broken.  If not, he would be doomed to remain a beast for all time.  As the years passed, he fell into despair, and lost all hope, for who could ever learn to love an explosive beast?
-        Significant members of Katsuki’s posse who were turned into magical items were Eijiro Kirishima, his castle maître d' whom had turned into a candelabra, his annoying majordomo, Tenya Ilda became a pendulum clock, the head housekeeper, Ochaco Uraraka had turned into an enchanted teapot, the vice-head housekeeper, Denki Kaminari had become a little tea cup, Mina Ashido, the lady-in-waiting became an enchanted wardrobe, and lastly, Hanta Sero, the Castle’s Valet and Chaffeur, became a coat rack.
-        All of Katsuki’s servants try their very best to make their prince change his ways, however, to no avail, their efforts have been fruitless. They were about to lose hope as Bakugo was about turn 21, which meant the rose would no longer bloom until… you came.
-        Gran Torino, your grandfather, had gotten lost in the woods and ended up finding Bakugo’s castle to seek shelter, not knowing he had been trespassing all along. After Katsuki finds him, he throws him to the castle dungeon.
-        You were the spirited, headstrong and bookish “beauty” of the town, however only being admired for your looks and not for your intelligence. You really had enough of this village and wanted to get out of here asap but after your grandfather had told you to wait just a little bit more, even though you frankly had enough of Monoma, the ~most handsome~ yet the biggest jerk in town constantly asking for your hand in marriage.
-        The disappearance of your grandfather had prompted for you to search for him, leading you too, to the beast’s castle.
-        Once you get there, you are to be greeted by Bakugo in his very beastly form, terrifying you. However, you stood your ground, asking for your grandfather. Gran Torino is set free under the condition of you having to stay in the castle instead.
-        At your first night, you refuse to join him for dinner enraging him.
-        “Where is she?” Bakugo grits his teeth, growling at Ilda.
-        “Aha- Well- You see… she’s not coming.” Ilda mutters nervously, his clock hands waving in weird chopping gestures.
-        “WHAT!?” Bakugo’s voice echoes around the dining hall, He leaps out of the room, busting the doors open, whilst Kirishima, Ilda, and Ochaco follow suit.
-        He bangs the door, “OI OI OI I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU TO COME DOWN FOR DINNER?”
-        “I’m not hungry.” You reply softly.
-        “ HAH? YOU COME OUT OR I’LL BREAK DOWN THE DOOR!”
-        “Master Bakugo… I could be wrong, but that may not be the way to win a girl’s affection.” Kirishima speaks in a hushed whisper, grimacing.
-        “Please attempt to be a gentleman.” Ilda says slowly and matter of factly.
-        Bakugo grits his teeth, scrunching his eyebrows, pointing to the door. “But she’s being… SO DIFFICULT!” he turns to the door, as if wanting you to hear what he was saying.
-        “Gently… Gently…” Ochaco repeats, trying to calm the prince down.
-        Bakugo rolls his eyes and repeats his words more softly this time, “Oi… will you come down for dinner?”
-        “No.”
-        He turns to his servants once again, pointing to the door, his mouth forming into a pout.
-        “O- It would be my greateest pleasure if you would join me for dinner.” He could barely muster out the words. “Please?”
-        “No, thank you!”
-        “YOU CAN’T STAY THERE FOREVER!” He barks, “THEN GO AHEAD AND STARVE!” He storms out of the hall, running his way to his castle wing.
-        After you were saved by the beast from the wolves, you tend to his wounds. Bakugo was rather… stubborn and didn’t want you to touch it or even press hot compress onto it.
-        He continues to growl lowly, still seething from the pain, attempting to lick it just like any other canine would do.
-        “Don’t do that.” You try to stop him from doing so, he growls at you, moving his wounded arm away from you. The castle servants watch in fear, taking a few steps back.
-        “Just hold still.”
-        “GRRR! THAT HURTS!”
-        “If you hold still, it wouldn’t hurt as much!”
-        “IF YOU HADN’T RAN AWAY THIS WOULDN’T HAVE HAPPENED!”
-        “If you didn’t scare me, then I wouldn’t have run away!”
-        “PHAH! WELL YOU SHOULDN’T HAVE GONE TO THE WEST WING!”
-        “Well, you should learn how to control your temper!”
-        He was about to protest, until he couldn’t think of anymore good comebacks, he stops. he pouts and rests his head on his hand as a sign of defeat.
-        After that night, the two of you had finally warmed up to each other. Wanting to surprise you and at the suggestion of Kirishima and Ilda, Bakugo had finally given you the chance to explore the west wing. Surprising you by leading to you the castle’s huge and well-kept library. A place where he seeks solace and peace.
-        You never expected him to be someone so aggressive yet be so interested in reading and of other mediums of knowledge. You had a lot in common and a feeling was blossoming between the two of you. In turn, you help him act more like a gentleman.
-        You continue to spend time with him, not knowing that you were slowly but surely falling.
-        “There’s something sweet and almost kind, but he was mean, coarse and unrefined. And now he’s dear, and I’m unsure, I wonder why I didn’t see it there before?”
-        As much as bakugo denies that he isn’t in love with you, he’s actually always had. He had just feared that you would never love him in return.
-        With the help of the fashionista turned enchanted closet that is Mina, she brings out a beautiful golden ballgown hemmed with golden roses, with off the shoulder sleeves and golden gloves to complete the look. You tie some of your hair into a neat bun, with the majority trails down your neck in a beautiful and flowing motion.
-        Bakugo on the other hand, was dressed in such a refined and handsome way. He wore a golden vest over a white dress shirt with a white kerchief. And, to complete the look, his very trusting stylists, Kirishima and Kaminari styled him in black pants.
-        As you dance the night away, the chandelier adorned with sparkling crystals hanging above you, the mural in the ceiling looking ever so heavenly, and calming waltz music to accompany you… it was a dream come true.
-        You nestle your head onto Bakugo’s shoulder, the latter looking a bit surprised yet his mouth forming into a small smile as he continues to guide you by hold your hand, twirling you around and just dancing with you. No other peering or judgemental eyes to stop the two of you from doing so.
-        Did I mention that he was an amazing dancer? Perks of being a prince I guess, but it’s also one of his natural talents.
-        Bakugo lets you go back to your grandfather that same night, watching you leave with your horse on the balcony.
-        He loves you, so he has to let you go.
-        Monoma and the village people ambush the castle to kill the beast, the castle servants trying their best to keep them at bay and the ever so arrogant village hunter climbing his way to Bakugo, you rush to the scene, and as soon as Bakugo sees you, he regains his strength and sends Monoma falling down a pit.
-        Bakugo was able to go back to his quarters with you helping him down, taking one last look at you.
-        He smiles half-heartedly, still trying to catch his breath. “You came back…”
-        “Of course, I came back.” You fight the tears trying to form in your eyes, hugging him tightly and trying to comfort him in his last moments. “If only I’ve gotten here sooner.”
-        “I-it’s better this way.”
-        “We’re together now! Everything’s going to be fine…”
-        “At least, I got to see you one last time.”
-        “P-please… Don’t leave me… I love you.”
-        As the last rose petal was about to fall, Bakugo is knocked out and is slowly succumbing to his wounds. It is through your genuine care and love for him, along with his change of heart and new resolve (albeit still retaining most of his temperamental and pompous personality, he is able to keep it in check) he transforms back into a human.
-        Along with all those who lived in the castle turning back into human, the castle retaining it’s original bright and vibrant colors and atmosphere, you and Bakugo live your very own happily ever after.

Izuku Midoriya  –  as Hercules from Hercules
-        A babie Izuku had been sent down from godlihood to live as a mortal, as his parents, All Might, the God of Thunder, and Inko, the Goddess of Marriage had wanted to protect him from AFO, the God of the Underworld, who will take over Mount Olympus if Izuku does not take him down according to a prophecy.
-        He grows up as a simpleton, the adopted son of both farmers, dreaming to make it big out there, with very ambitious and pure dreams of becoming a hero.
-        But after, being belittled by his very own peers for not looking the part as he couldn’t control his gifted super strength, scrawny, timid, too pure for this world and quite weakhearted, Izuku wanted to prove to them that he will become a hero in the future.
-        “Sometimes… I feel like, I really don’t belong here. Like I’m supposed to be someplace else…” Izuku confesses sincerely, his adoptive father looking at him in worry as he did not want to stop the young boy from learning who he actually was and all the potential he has.
-        “If you found me then… where did I come from? Why was I left here?”
-        His adoptive parents hand him over a golden medal with a thunder and lightning symbol that was said to be hanging around his neck when they found him. This was his answer that raised more questions.
-        He embarks on his journey to find one of the temples of All Might, as this was the only thing the symbol on the medal could allude to.
-        Okay but go the distance fits Izuku so well! A pure and hopeful young boy seeking to make a difference in this world and just wanting to become a hero by the most wholesome means.
-  “I have often dreamed of a far off place, Where a hero's welcome would be waiting for me. Where the crowds would cheer, when they see my face, and a voice keeps saying this is where I'm meant to be…”
-        just imagining izuku’s boyish voice singing this is just aaaaaaa
-        He eventually finds one of the temples, learning that all along, he was the son of the legendary God. All Might tells him he must prove his worth and earn back his godhood by becoming a true hero.
-        His father tells him to go search for Shota Aizawa, the famed instructor who has taught many great heroes in his time. Gifting Izuku a Pegasus, he embarks on another journey again to find the man, so that he may be trained.
-        When he arrives at the home of Aizawa, the teacher had retired as none of his heroes have ever earned a constellation in the sky, prompting him to expel them.
-        Izuku however, explained to his soon-to-be teacher that he wasn’t like the others, and… he proved true.
-        Although Aizawa was hesitant at first, he liked the kid’s determination and sheer will, so he began to train him.
-        Maybe, he could make a difference.
-        After his training and after undergoing an amazing transformation, Izuku was finally ready to start his way to achieving Godhood and becoming a true hero.
-        On the way to a nearby city, Izuku encounters you, a totally not damsel in distress and totally not a pawn of AFO, being tormented by a minotaur.
-        Izuku saves you and you couldn’t help but notice how pure and how gentle he was. You thank him albeit with a tint of sarcasm, hoping the two of you would meet again as you venture deeper into the forest to go and meet with AFO, whom you made a deal with in order to bring back your lost lover from the dead- only for them to leave you soon after.
-        You were once a very soft and romantic person. So open to giving love to others and never shying away from any form of affection. However…
-        After that terrible experience, you developed a cynical outlook. Not taking slack from anybody, always keeping your distance, barely interacting with others and showing no interest in forming any genuine relationships with others ever since.
-        Izuku reminded you that there was still some good in this world.
-        His genuine innocence, his boyish yet handsome looks, his pure determination to save others and his charismatic wit just swept you off of your feat.
-        However, you still had to keep your distance. You just weren’t ready to trust anyone again after that what had happened.
-        Izuku finally reaches his destination, defeating a Hydra using both of his wits and his strength, as he becomes a celebrated hero around the city of Musustafu.
-        Since then, he jumped from city to city, striking down every otherworldly monster that AFO had created to try and defeat him, and making him somewhat of a celebrity.
-        Izuku, however, remained humble. Knowing full well that the fame he had gained was not needed in order to become a hero.
-        In fact, it was what could become a hero’s biggest downfall.
-        Whilst chilling around in a huge museum dedicated to Izuku’s efforts, you pay him a visit and the pure and wholesome boy, clearly enthralled by you since the beginning, became very flustered at the sight of seeing you.
-        You start playing with your words, flirtatiously manipulating him to get him to go on a date with you.
-        “(Y/N) by the gods, he’s so pure why would you do this?” you thought. “what did he do to deserve this from me?” yet, you were bound by a contract with the god of the underworld, so it’s not like you have any choice right?
-        You go on a date with him, and end up falling reeeeeeal hard.
-        The two of you end your date in a romantic park, filled with conveniently placed statues of couples and a statue of Izuku, in the middle, near the fountain for you to fawn over whilst singing one of the best Disney songs ever to.
-        Aizawa hastens him to leave as they still have training to do, but he doesn’t leave until he picks a white flower from a tree, giving it to you, and planting a soft kiss on your cheek.
-        Midoriya hops on his Pegasus and they flutter away as you continue to watch his figure travel farther and farther away from you.
-        You observe and play with the white rose on your hand, sighing dreamily, until you snap back into your senses and think about the matter at hand.
-        “Ugh… what’s the matter with me? You’d think a girl would learn.”
-        *Cue Music and the Muses known as Ochaco, Tsuyu, Momo, Mina and Jirou)
-        “Who d'you think you're kidding~ He's the earth and heaven to you. Try to keep it hidden, Honey we can see right through you. Girl you can't conceal it We know how you're feeling... who you thinking of~”
-        The muses continue the musical number, yet in your heart you just need to deny these new and fuzzy emotions you were feeling for Izuku.
-        “No chance no way I won't say it, no no. (You swoon you sigh why deny it oh oh) It's too cliche I won't say I'm in loveeee…”
-        After all the ordeals Izuku had to go through to save you, (literally jumping into the river styx to recover your soul) his willingness to sacrifice himself for you was the final key needed to ascend to Godhood, and so that he may join his parents and the other gods in Mount Olympus once more.
-        However, this would come at a cost, if he were to go back to Mount Olympus, that would mean he wouldn’t see you ever again, instead only being able to watch over you from up and above.
-        And so, he chooses to remain on Earth with you, and even without his godly status, he could remain as the striking and true hero he is.
-        The two of you watch the night sky as All Might forms a constellation on the sky just for Izuku. Not only making Aizawa also proud, but also as a sign that Izuku himself- (and your love) was worth seeing in the stars.

Shoto Todoroki – as Flynn Rider from Tangled
-        Ok this is a bit of a stretch and I KNOW IT IS
-        Fantasy au Shoto has a white horse, and Flynn rider befriends a white horse that hates him. that’s the closest similarity these two have.
-        Flynn rider is my favorite unofficial Disney prince, and shoto is my favorite mha boy so let’s just roll with this!!
-        Shoto Todoroki was a lost prince turned thief, and after he rebelled from his controlling and manipulative father, His only way of escape was if he turned to a life of thievery, hiding his identity and straying away from his mantle as the Prince of the Todoroki Family.
-        He was very rebellious and mischievous, yet was also stern and rather monotone at times. He would crack jokes, but they would fall flat most of time and despite being absolutely handsome and looking very charismatic and charming on the outside, he wasn’t the best at picking up any gestures or flirtatious remarks said to him.
-        He approached some thieves before and very innocently asked them how to live the life of a rogue, the bandits laughed at him but were nice enough to give him tips. The first advice they told Shoto was to take up a moniker. So that he wouldn’t be easily discovered or found by security officials. They jokingly called him The Half-Hot and Half Cold prince, because of his looks and his quirk.
-        Not knowing that he was an actual prince. A wayward prince to be specific.
-        Shoto didn’t care enough so he used the nickname given to them and went on his way to a different castle.
-        After abandoning his kingdom, he chooses to live freely by his own means, and making the most of his time as a free man and not as a prince. You only live once after all.
-        He then leaves for the Kingdom of Corona, being forced to create a trio with very unfriendly bandits, Sato and Koda. Their mission was to steal the crown on the eve of your birthday and hope to sell it for an absolutely impossible price.
-        After they successfully infiltrate the palace and steal the crown jewel, Shoto stacks the prized possession into his satchel, betraying Koda and Sato, using them as a scapegoat, and making his way to a nearby forest settlement where he may hide and then move on to the next kingdom.
-        However, he underestimated the castle guards as they were able to find traces of him. Shoto, not wanting to back down from a fight, uses his ice quirk to prevent the guards from following him in any further into the forest. (He refuses to use his fire quirk due to its relation to his father)
-        Knowing that it wouldn’t take long before the castle guards would find him again, he had to go somewhere and hide first.
-        He then sees an obscure and weirdly placed tower in the middle of the forest, thinking that he may take refuge there. And so, Shoto uses his ice quirk once more to elevate himself onto the only open window of the tower.
-        He was about to start adjusting to his new surroundings as he steps foot inside, until…
-        BANG!
-        The last thing he heard was the sound of a clanging frying pan.
-        Unbeknownst to him, he was hit on the head by said frying pan.
-        Shoto wakes up to see that he was tied to a chair and his precious satchel gone by his side. He observes his surroundings to see that he was not tied by a rope, but instead tied using someone’s long and luscious hair. Hair so long that it was scattered all around the room.
-        “Is this… hair?”
-        You appear from the darkness, a very smug look spread upon your face, gripping the frying pan tightly.
-        You were the lost princess of the kingdom of Corona. You were kidnapped by Mother Midnight, and she raised you as your own, keeping you locked in the tower so that she can use the regeneration powers coming from your hair to make herself younger.
-        Each year, the king and the queen release lanterns in the sky on your birthday, hoping for your safe return.
-        It was too much of a coincidence. You know in your heart that the lanterns are meant for you. Yet, Mother Midnight constantly forbids and refuses you from leaving the tower.
-        “Who are you? And how did you find me?” You grit your teeth, interrogating him, your frying pan ready to hit on him if he dares to make a move.
-        Tsuyu, your pet chameleon and best friend was watching the half-and-half man intently.
-        “I’m the Half Hot- Half Cold Prince.” He says simply, barely moving and showing any emotion. You stare back at him, puzzled. What the heck was wrong with this guy?
-        “I mean, your actual name.” You repeat yourself as you slowly continue to approach him.
-        “Oh. I’m Shoto. Shoto Todoroki.” He says plainly once again. “Can I have my satchel back please?”
-        “Nope.” You reply, popping the p. “Why are you even here for the first place? Is it for my hair!?”
-        “He tilts his head in confusion, “Of course not. I was being chased and saw this tower, so I used my quirk and got up here. Now, may I please have my satchel back?”
-        “Hmm… if you say you’re from the outside then… I need you to take me to the lights.” You climb up your room balcony, pulling the curtain away to reveal the beautiful mural you made in dedication to the lanterns that are released from the kingdom every year during your birthday. “Then, I’ll give you your satchel.”
-        He looks at the mural in awe for a moment then breathes a hefty sigh, “Alright. We have a deal.”
-        You untie him from your hair. He stands up quickly and was about to descend down the tower. “I can use my quirk to bring us down-“
-        “Nah.” You hold up your hand in front of him, throwing your hair down and using it as a swing as you glide down with grace.
-        Your eyes meet the grass and you take a deep breath before you take your first step on it and then…
-        “My life will finally begin.” You take in your surroundings, feeling overwhelming happiness about to burst inside you.
-        Shoto catches up to you, using his quirk to slide down the tower. He crosses his arms, at the sight of seeing you jumping around like a little chipmunk who has not seen any land, a contempt look plastered upon his face, just wanting to get this job done and head on to the next kingdom he could go to.
-        “THIS IS AMAZING!” You watch him resting by the tree, leaning on it. You kick a pile of leaves to get his attention as you twirl around in your place, still taking in all these wonderful sights.
-        “Look. We have to get to the kingdom grounds as soon as possible or else-“
-        “It’s (Y/N).”
-        “Excuse me?”
-        “I’m (Y/N). I just remembered that I didn’t tell you that a while ago. Sorry!” You smile cheekily at him and because of how adorable you looked; he gave you a pass.
-        “Alright. Let’s go then, (Y/N).
-        Your adventure was absolutely chaotic. From entering a tavern full of scary bandits, for them to actually be softies all this time who were willing to help you see the lights. When the castle guards track down Shoto in the tavern, the bandits help you escape through a hidden passage, but find yourselves stuck in a flooding cave.
-        Thinking that this was the end of both of your adventures and your lives, Shoto reveals to you that he was the missing prince of the Endeavor Kingdom and you also reveal to him that your hair glows when you sing.
-        Bingo.
-        Flower gleam and glow… Let your powers shine… Make the clock reverse… Bring back what once was mine.” You sang softly, your hair began to emanate a glowing light, as it served as a guide to get you out of the cave.
-        Shoto’s hand was injured due to the very rough and dangerous properties inside of the cave and so, you heal him with the powers of your hair.
-        Once again, repeating the song he had wanted to hear escape from your lips once more, your hair begins to glow as the wound on his palm was no more.
-        He looks at you in awe. Noticing details about you that he hasn’t noticed before. How your eyes twinkled differently, like a star from a night sky. Your smile always radiating sunshine, and your aura emanating nothing but warmth and comfort.
-        He was in love with you.
-        How long did it take for him to realize that?
-        “Are we almost there?” You wave your hand in front of his face and he snaps back into reality. “Ah yes. We’ll be in the village where the festivities will take place.”
-        “THERE ARE FESTIVITIES!?”
-        You reach the kingdom the morning after and began to partake in the festivities. All that Shoto could do was watch and admire you from afar as you danced and make merry with the townsfolk; not until you pulled him into the middle of the dance.
-        He was awkward and wasn’t so used to having all this attention around him ever since he left his royal life, but you guide him well in the dance floor, getting lost in the moment, the two of you gaze at each other’s eyes, and the cheers of the townspeople unfortunately snapping you out of the moment.
-        That night, the king and the queen, along with all of the townsfolk, flock to their boats for the annual cruise and lantern releasing.
-        To surprise you, Shoto was able to snatch and rent a boat. The two of you board on it that night, and Shoto rows all the way to the middle of the lake and get a clear view of the ethereal spectacle that was about to take place.
-        The first lantern, released by the king and queen, floats solely by itself. You rush to the other side of the boat, the boat rocking furiously due to the excitement. Your handsome companion on the other hand, was trying to keep the boat into place.
-        You hold on to the edge of the boat as other lanterns follow suit. The huge boats around you were releasing their lanterns too.
-        You look up at the sky, watching the lamps color the night. It was such a beautiful moment. Watching these floating lights reminds you of a comfort and inexplicable feeling from within. There was something about the light emanating from these paper lanterns, some of them bumping into each other, creating unique shadows, like that of shooting stars who were about to ascend back into the night sky.
-        Lanterns continue to light up the night sky, as if they were like bright dreams. Lighting everyone’s resolve and everyone’s hearts.
-       “All those days watching from the windows, All those years outside looking in. All that time never even knowing, just how blind I've been. Now I'm here, blinking in the starlight, Now I'm here, suddenly I see. Standing here, it's all so clear, I'm where I'm meant to be. And at last I see the light. And it's like the fog has lifted And at last I see the light. And it's like the sky is new, And it's warm and real and bright, And the world has somehow shifted. All at once everything looks different… Now that I see you.”
-        After you felt too immersed into the beauty of the lights, you turn back to Shoto who was holding on to two lanterns that the two of you could release. A loving smile present on his face.
-        You smile back at him, and the both of you release it into the sky.
-        “All those days chasing down a daydream… All those years living in a blur… All that time never truly seeing things, the way they were.”
-        The two of you look up to see the floating lights arise and you were immersed once again. Shoto fixes his gaze on you, admiring your beauty and your enthusiasm to see the lights you’ve always dreamed of seeing. He could do nothing but smile at you, as he’s truly fallen in love. He really has. His heart thumping loudly at the presence and the warmth that you’ve given him. Something that he had been seeking for so long.
-        Now she's here shining in the starlight, Now she's here suddenly I know.”
-        You continue look up. A lantern engraved with a sun symbol approaches your boat, and you point at it, pushing it up at the sky.
-        “If she's here, it's crystal clear… I'm where I'm meant to go.”
-        Shoto knew this was his only chance. His smile turning into that of a frown, as thoughts of not seeing you again came across his mind. He grabs your hand, touching it softly. You perk up a little bit at this gesture, but you smile back at him. Your eyes glimmering love and warmth once again.
-        You hold both of his hands, grasping it firmly yet tenderly. The two of you gaze at each other’s eyes again, this time no one were to interrupt. This moment would just be between the two of you.
-        You notice how beautiful Shoto’s heterochromatic eyes were from up close, the love shown in his eyes could only be for you and you feel your heart racing at that thought.
-         And at last I see the light, And it's like the sky is new. And it's warm and real and bright, And the world has somehow shifted… All at once everything is different… Now that I see you.”

That line is perfect for Izu's real villain aka BK.
But you are right. Shig and Izu are undeveloped as fuck....it's ironic bc among all parallels they do share this one. Being so equally undeveloped.
Which version of Beauty and the Beast? The Disney animated one? Or the Disney with Emma Watson?😒
1) gone be honest. I give less of a shit to Ochako. Maybe toga survived and run...which if she did that....hahahaha well..Ochako is sort rejected here.
2) dude she gave Mirio's quirk... realistically...Mirio should have been reduced to nothing ...but if she can bring his quirk back. How and why? If she can do that....the sky is the limit...amor that was a fluke on the system. Again, how and why? Btw no one was asking for Mirio.
3) hawks says some vague shit...will he be the one to lead the new HC? No idea. I had this idea during the leaks
4) Fuck Momo. She corned Izu like an animal and is now worried about Dark Izu??? The fuck this means. Also back handed compliments. That's how you know Hori is fine. He needs to show you he doesn't like his mc
5) back handed compliments to Izu! If he fought someone....no one cares and it's not important. Also fuck A1.
6) I agree.
7) ah right is the dude who didn't want Izu to enter ua! Well, Izu was forced....by A1 to be there. Izu's pain is a gag....and I hate how the fandom accepts that. People are celebrating Izu going to see a family being murder fr.
8) She said smth in the lines "he suffers and that's good" I'm paraphrasing here but...what fucked up thing to say...we get Hori you detest Izu. The fact people really spend the entire story watching Izu in pain ....wow.
So in regards the leaks and how the general fandom is acting towards Shig and Izu seeing each other memories.
Tumblr media
Like, let's dissect here. One thing is bothering me in lieu how the MHA treats redemption arcs is how the victims have no saying in the redemption of the villain(and BK let's not forget what he really is) the fandom wants to babiefied the villains without facing the real consequences.
Won't talk about PoS here. Let's talk about Shiggy.
Fandom says he is groomed by afo and so...he needs to be saved. I talked to @doodlegirl1998 about this. She proposed the idea of afo suggesting things to Shig which...yeah makes sense.
Brainwash trope: it's a trope where a character acts differently from the norm thanks to external reasons. For the trope to work we need to see how the character is before the brainwash.
What we know about Shig before being Shig.
*He is Tenko.
* He has a fluffy corgi
* His family died .
Shig fandom insists Tenko was this paragon of goodness. We are told that btw never showed. "Tenko helped those two faceless and shapeless kids. He is an angel" and the fandom nods.
What we really see of Tenko is how he was abused bc Hori really couldn't make his backstory a clichê. The SHIMURAS are dead and......no one really care. What they bring to the story?
We don't know how Tenko was, really
Then afo took him in.
He didn't groomed Shig. A groomer (if we go by a non sexual way) would be all the steps of the person's life to mold....afo didn't do that. He see him give a really cruel name to Shig, see the Dr give the hands (I so think they laugh at this) and leave him alone with Kuro.
Not grooming.
But afo could have suggested Shig to use his quirk without care.
Which comes to my point .....Shig chose to continue on this path. Shig chose to attack us, to kill those heroes. It's was on him. Afo doesn't have a hold on him...Shig did himself.
And my point is, Shig can't ever get a redemption action if we don't account the victims.
How the victims and their families would feel about a Shig wanting to redeem himself?
Ok imagine that. Everyone forgive Shig...maybe they all see Baby Tenko and are. Heartbroken by his cuteness ...they forgive him as easily as some Shig simps wanted .....what this means to Shig then?
What he would do with this forgiveness? Would he try to change? Would he care? What the story would be if everyone forgive Baby Tenko?
Also.....
I'm profoundly annoyed how Izu has to see the SHIMURAS being murder, how the fans will see this as "oh no. Poor Shig" (don't get me wrong ...it is horrifying as it is....silly. the entire family is dead. It's lazy) and no one will give a shit about Izu's past, just to not break a pattern. We will see the horrific scene of SHIMURAS being killed...a scene Izu will see as well....and doubt we are going to see Izu's past....and if we do see....
Fandom:😒why we are wasting time on this
Or
Fandom:😁proof Izu will save Shig. Go save Shig.
