Modern Kayley

Kayley was a difficult redesign in some ways… she turned out a little bit 90s skater girl, more than I maybe intended. But I really wanted layering and huge cargo pants pockets. What do you think?

I think this will be the last modern redesign for a while. In order to get the business stuff rolling and a new larger project on the horizon I will have to post less on social media. I have to sleep sometime unfortunately 🤣🥲

If you want to get technical, these are actually Lynette and Gareth. In the story Quest For Camelot was based on and initially going to more directly adapt, the heroine is a questing noble lady out to rescue her older sister from Sir Ruber, and Gareth is a kitchen servant prior to being knighted and also secretly King Arthur's nephew.

Sounds a lot more compelling than the movie we got, I know.

Quest For Camelot can be enjoyable even when taking it as the objectively terrible, dumb mess of a movie that it is. But knowing that we could've had an actually good movie instead does irritate me.

on today's episode of me diving too deep into researching the production history of animated movies:

I learned that Warner Bros. Feature Animation's Quest for Camelot (1998) was supposed to be METAL AF with a dark 80s-y medieval vibe before the executives got their clutches on it and decided it wasn't marketable enough

im not a fan of modern merthur but the idea of them meeting in modern times and introducing themselves to each other and them laughing and bonding over their names being connected to the myth of king arthur and camelot is just so cute
