so i randomly started fleshing out a pjo au i've had in my head for a while now where oceanus attempts to take back the sea or whatever

it would take place during percy's senior year of hs and features everyone in the seven (except for jason - in this au toa happened entirely during the school year and therefore jason died earlier) + reyna, nico, will, clarisse, malcolm, katie, the stolls, and one of my ocs who is one of percy's mortal friends from high school

also features a few other characters like drew tanaka and jake mason who aren't part of the prophecy, lester/apollo and meg will also likely make an appearance. and percy's siblings ofc since it's yk... about the ocean. tyson of course but triton and kymopoleia. there are a few others who will show up but some of them i want to be surprises (yk, if i ever write this, which is honestly pretty unlikely)

exploration of side characters like the stolls, katie gardner, and malcolm pace (ft malconnor and tratie bc i'm a weak man and cannot exclude them)

jake mason and drew tanaka are 1) best friends and 2) depressed as hell but hey, jake knows a lot!

percy, triton, and kymopoleia being siblings (the past two bullet points are definitely inspired by the fic fishing in alaska, which i totally recommend)

instead of caleo we have past (unrequited) valgrace. and probably queerplatonic caleo but i haven't decided

also past jake x michael bc out of everyone in the series jake mason is the one i like to make suffer most <3

Moonstone lore under the cut

Back during Era 1 thousands of years ago, Moonstone was a gem of very high status on Homeworld. A member of Moonlight's Court and one of her most trusted advisors, a scholar, a researcher; he was a paragon of knowledge and was constantly wanting to learn more. And the cherry on top was he was clairvoyant, able to see into the future.

All was fine for many thousands of years, but then something happened. Moonstone doesn't usually look too far into the future, mostly just a couple hours, days or weeks, occasionally a few months, just to see how a decision will play out. But the one time he tries to see even further, centuries ahead, he sees Homeworld in ruins, gems shattered and corrupted, and it's all HIS fault? How? How could HE do this? WHY would he do this?

Moonstone learned something he shouldn't have, and he began to deteriorate. He started to avoid other gems more and started to spend most of his time in the archives, desperately searching for an answer to how this could ever happen, not realizing he was just sealing his own fate. And then one day, he finally snapped, dragging Moissanite, Painite, Pezzottaite, and Alexandrite- his closest friends- down with him one by one. The five Beasts wreaked havoc across Homeworld, spreading corruption and chaos until the Diamonds eventually brought them down, assigning Labradorite and his soldiers to guard them so they'd remain sealed for their safety and the safety of all gemkind.
