Daemon bundled them into thick furs, taking care to make sure their heads and ears were covered, until only small wisps of black and silver escaped along the sides of their round little faces. He grinned at the sight of them swallowed by the furs, nearly spherical in either arm, and crept out with his bounty, both utterly silent for the entirety of the walk to Caraxes’s enclosure. There was a trace of warmth in the light breeze, a promise of spring, and the air lacked the bite of months before. When spring came, Daemon guessed, it would come quickly to melt the snow that remained on the ground. Caraxes snuffed at his sons, and they both happily babbled at the dragon for the few minutes Daemon left them on the ground beside him to fetch his own personal saddle, as he’d taken to calling it. He secured them to it first before fastening the straps around his own chest, and when he was finished, he had one on either side of his back, peering over his shoulders.

slowly, piece by piece, you pick yourself off the floor and try to chase away the halos in your vision. you move your gaze up and up at the figure standing over your kneeling form and meet the worried eyes of cross, the forever dutiful guard. you ignore the hand cross offers you, instead choosing to painfully stand on your own. cross doesn't say anything, but his eyes travels up and down, searching for anything amiss.

"you okay there?" cross, blunt as always, asks.

"just peachy," you answer with your signature smile.

"... right," cross turns around and starts walking. "come on. let's get you a cup of water. you look like you need one."

miraculously, your body unsticks itself from the ground and follows him just fine, your footsteps measured and your hands mechanically relaxed in your pockets of your well-worn jacket. the walk is shorter than you've anticipated, as the kitchen is just two rooms away. you enter through the doorway into the dimly lit space. cross has his back turned to you, and you feel a sudden urge to scare the life out of him. but you restrain yourself, staring at your untied shoes with your eyesockets itching to pour your broken determination out like an oil spill. the floor is not the most interesting thing, you guess. whoever decides marble flooring in a kitchen is a good idea should be tied to a tractor. or worse, fired from their job.

"take a seat," cross says, as he browses through the cupboards.

shrugging, you move to sit at the kitchen countertop, folding your hands on the surface as you wait for cross to do whatever he needs to do. cross approaches you with a cup - an adorable ceramic cat-shaped one. you accept it. the water does little to alleviate the nausea in your soul, but at least it quenches your thirst.

cross sits one seat away from you, and you ignore the tiny spark of annoyance brewing in your chest. as you expected, cross opens his mouth to ask, "so what were you doing on the floor back there?"

"urgh, since when are you my caretaker?" you shoot back, momentarily surprised by how aggressive you sound.

"since you trashed the whole place," cross replies, sipping on his own cup of water. when did he get it? whatever. "you smell of booze. bad day?"

"tell me about it," the words spill out of your mouth uncontrolled. "hangover's a bitch."

"wouldn't know. i'm not an alcoholic."

"always so uptight, aren't you?" you tease him. "let loose once in a while, soldier boy. at least i know how to have a good time."

"if that's your version of a good time, i don't want to know what your bad time looks like," cross says through the rim of his cup. you chuckle lightly.

"probably for the best. it's not pretty, for sure."

both of you fall into a companionable silence. it's unusual, moments like this. the room temperature is just right. cross is not too bad as a conversationalist. you listen to the sounds of the buzzing light bulb above you and the humming motors of the refrigerator, feeling as if you can fall asleep right there and then. but you still have tasks to do. you turn to cross.

"you know where angel is?" you ask him, to which he frowns a bit.

"dust?" he hums. "he's not in his room?"

"haven't checked. too lazy to do it." you say, like a liar.

"just let him sleep in. it's fine."

"wouldn't boss be mad though?"

cross freezes. and your soul skips a beat.

"killer," cross intones, slowly as if cornering a feral stray cat. "where do you think you are right now?"

your grip on your cup tightens. the buzzing sounds intensify in the silence.

to give a simple answer; it's not a "proper" plurality if you're worried about categorizing that sort of thing, but they're pretty much eridan and sollux's respective introjects of each other! it's all erisolsprites fault <3

for context, the premise of the au is that eridan has decided to self isolate on earth c, and erisolsprite has managed to end up with him due to sprite bullshit to make sure he doesnt do any Extremely stupid shit-- which blows up in his face when hes the reason eridan (and later sollux) end up getting an extra person in their brains

so then THERE is where we get shardasol and eriware :) their entire gimmick is that they're formed from extra memories of eridan and sollux that erisolsprite put in their opposite heads, and they borrowed bits of their host's personality traits, interests, and perspectives of their other to grow into the people they are. they are their own people at the end of the day! even if they like to say they're like a manifestation of eridan and sollux's heart for the other-- which is. yknow. how i've ended up with four different versions of erisol in this damn au LOL.

In one of your answers about lcsys a few days ago you mentioned that you weren't sure how closely Jackalope monitored their calls (re: trying to do investigations over the phone) and it occurred to me because you mentioned kazui calling hinako that she appears in both half and cat so he could contact her in person and they could talk a bit and even pass each other papers if they were sneaky enough. I don't know if anyone else would be willing to do that (the resources available to people like shidous wife and mahirus ex boyfriend would be limited anyway) but it could be another route if you wanted to make call monitoring strict

They might not have committed careful, premeditated murders, but they sure are getting a knack for sneaky crime now. Speaking in code over phone lines, passing notes in between filming scenes, sneaking away to a private area to talk (though never knowing how much of the facility is monitored). Some of their loved ones may not have the skills/connections needed, but the prisoners sit together after getting their scripts to plan out who they’ll be able to make contact with and when.

Haruka’s sister makes a super fast appearance in AKAA, when she comes on set to film her scene someone slips a note in her pocket telling her to call a woman named Hinako with the police department and deliver a message. Hinako and the other connections listed investigate Es and Milgram, then send their findings in a message to the Kirisaki household. When Shidou visits them on his Triage trip, she passes him the information. He leaves her with any additional questions and findings to send to Mahiru’s ex before he leaves, sneaking the message into the facility. When arriving to film I Love You, her ex brings another note inside the facility disguised within his script he’s been told to look over. Mahiru has to stall some of the scenes to make filming last long enough for the others to interpret the information and form their next plan of action. Once they give her the ‘go,’ she’s able to put on a perfect performance and send the man home with a letter to Hinako. Hinako shows up to produce Cat with even more findings. This time, they send her home either with plans to investigate further on her own, or repeat the process with someone appearing in Deep Cover. They’ll have to hold out throughout the third trial, but hope what they’ve discovered/kick started will be enough when they leave. 

And, jailbreak attempt or not, I just realized they would likely end up getting close on their own! Hinako and Mahiru’s ex especially because of their similarities, but everyone would feel connected by this strange experiment. Even with limited investigation skills, they could search up the other prisoners and reach out to their families. There are conflicted feelings of sympathy and shame from the stable families, but it would make sense they’d get to talking with each other. Fuuta is horrified when the experiment ends and he leaves to find his sister is best friends with Mikoto’s. Muu’s parents are insistent about avoiding direct contact to protect their reputation, but they offer money and help to Haruka and Amane in their moving of homes. Shidou’s wife has set up playdates between her kids and Yura. (When we find out more, Kotoko and Es’ families are in the mix too :’))
