Look, I know I mostly gif buddie so that means I mostly get my scenes from season 2 and forward, but like specific colorings I have saved for recurring locations like the station not working on season 1 footage is actually driving me mad. What the hell was happening with season 1 for it to be soon warm???? I'm tired of correcting the orange.
#i will continue to correct the orange because im having fun with my cinematography shots from every episode#and i am excited to make 90+ of those during the hiatus event#but#why is season one so warm???#what was the reason#did they switched something when they got renewed for season 2?#like?#what the hell changed in the production of the show?#i legit recalibrated my screen because i couldn't understand what was happening#i thought my computer was doing something#its getting better#the pilot is tragically orange#the others are not as orange but they are still a bit too warm#and i dont get it#ignore this rant from a tired gifmaker lol#i am liking the chance go practice my color correction skills without any extreme lighting#dealing with 5sos and their stage lighting gave me a good feel but its always extreme with them#since the light are literally almost always colorful not just too warm or too cold#so fun challenges#but i do wanna know what was going on in the editor room for season 1#thoughts thoughts thoughts

Silver Bullets Writing Masterlist (a Masters of the Air Fic-Collection)
AO3 link: coming soon!
OCs Featured: Women of Silver Bullets
Pairings: SB Pairings
Collection of writings of the women of the B-17, Silver Bullets, and their stories through the Second World War, alongside the Masters of the Air men. Features replacement pilot, Lieutenant Annie Bradshaw, stepping into the role of command pilot for Silver Bullets, working to lead a crew of an all-female bomber crew throughout missions out of Thorpe Abbotts, England. Silver Bullets recently went through the tragic loss of their previous command pilot, Captain Birdie Faulkner, which leaves the crew reeling - Annie Bradshaw hopes to do justice to this bomber crew and the war. Follows canon for the most part, an alternate universe with women as a B-17 crew.
-> Current Writings <-
-> to be updated as new writings come out!
Meeting Annie Chattaway (Bradshaw)
Annie Chattaway (later becomes Bradshaw in rewrites) meets John Egan and John Brady for her first introductions to base. Story is later reworked into Silver Bullets writings and a larger crew.
Sweet-Talking Silver Bullets
Annie Bradshaw heads to the flying club after an introduction to Thorpe Abbotts and an invitation from John Brady - and gets to meet Margie Harlowe, flight engineer on Silver Bullets, as well as some commentary from John Egan.
Package Deal
Bombardier, Carrie Achterberg, falls sick and misses a mission - navigator, Bessie Carlisle, visits her for some well wishes - James Douglass pays the duo a visit.
Introductions and Pleasantries
Bessie Carlisle and turret ball gunner, Judy Rybinski, discuss the future and meet the newest pilot on base, Robert 'Rosie' Rosenthal - Marianne Salinger, tail-gunner, sets her sights on letting her orange cat, Frank, get a feel for the newest addition.
Solemn Reminders
Co-pilot, Francis Montez, has been struggling ever since losing Captain Birdie Faulkner those few weeks ago - Annie Bradshaw attempts to get through those layers and let Francis know she's there to stay.
Lie Down Next to Me
Annie Bradshaw's is sure of a lot of things - but sharing a bed with Captain John Brady when things start getting tough is not one of them.
Quiet Reprieve
A mission gone haywire leaves the crews at Thorpe Abbotts in a mental recovery - John Brady attempts to get Annie Bradshaw out of her head. Ken Lemmons offers a few jokes in return.
Next Time I Wake
Judy Rybinski suffered a serious injury after a rough mission, and is joined by Rosie Rosenthal at her side when she wakes.
When All Else Fails
The 9-remaining members of Silver Bullets discuss their newest pilot, ponder their last replacement who went down the drain and the future of their B-17 bomber.

Crash Landings and All
Annie Bradshaw and John Brady share some coffee in the early morning and discuss their rather embarrassing mishaps of first-time-flying.

You, Me, and the Stars
Judy Rybinski and Bessie Carlisle discuss life and love. Judy shares a conversation with Rosie Rosenthal and makes a few bolder moves than she would have thought.
Guide and Guard
The crew of Silver Bullets dutifully awaits the signal for wheels up. John Brady makes a visit.
No Hard Feelings
Carrie Achterberg just wants to enjoy breakfast. James Douglass comes asking for a favor. Greenland mention!
I Found You Again
Annie Bradshaw and John Brady share a moment in a bunk, with quiet contention and silent confessions.
You Pinky Promise?
James Douglass visits a sick Carrie Achterberg. Conversation ensues about Dougie's time in the skies under Lieutenant Annie Bradshaw's wing.
Let It Linger
Judy Rybinski gets promoted and thinks Rosie Rosenthal has a little something to do with it.
Bergie Doesn’t Strike Out
Carrie Achterberg and James Douglass both feel they have ‘struck out’ in their own ways. Lingering eyes follow.
You In My A-2
Annie Bradshaw and John Brady share another night in the bunk. A few honest statements seem to slip. A sort of Pt 2 to this piece.
Looking Out For Me
Judy Rybinski grieves what is lost and Rosie Rosenthal tries to offer an olive branch of connection. They share an orange and an understanding.
Run Along Lover Boy
Kennedy Farley and Bucky Egan share a conversation that might just change both their minds about their futures.
Didn't Think You'd Notice
Carrie Achterberg and James Douglass share a dance. And a whole lot more than just that.
A Little While Longer
Annie Bradshaw gets herself into a bit of a fight, but John Brady isn't afraid to step up for the people he loves.
Through the War
Judy Rybinski enjoys the sunshine of the flak house, but couldn’t help but have a conversation with Rosie Rosenthal about the truth of this war.
Ease the Pain
Vivian Ratcliff remains emotionally distraught over not hearing from long-time boyfriend, James Pennington, and Everett Blakey tries to help with that.
Greenland
Carrie Achterberg ponders her dislike for Greenland, alongside James Douglass, in the pre-Annie Bradshaw era of Silver Bullets.
Stray Bullets
Kennedy Farley and Bucky Egan share a few words with each other after a terrible mission and an even worse-off interrogation.
Folklore or Whatnot
Annie Bradshaw continues to prove her role in these shoes she must fill after Birdie Faulkner. She proves herself in more ways than one.
And Then I Breathed
Kennedy Farley can't stop her thoughts from ruminating on her final moments before jumping out of the plane that final time. Bucky Egan tries to mend that in any way he can.
My Bessie Marie
Bessie Carlisle lives by fact and truth. Her world turns upside when that’s all off the table and her boyfriend, Thomas McKenzie joins the Marines.
Cold Hands
Annie Bradshaw revels in her reckless youth alongside a battered and bruised John Brady who is in need of nothing more than someone willing to listen to his ramblings.
Lips Itching To Grin
Kennedy Farley and Bucky Egan talk baseball, big bands and their mothers. Bucky also thinks Kennedy would make a great cleanup hitter in the lineup.
Gone to the Earth
The Annie Bradshaw and John Brady reunion piece.
Far Less Losses
Kennedy Farley, Judy Rybinski and Paulina Stagliano want to enjoy a night away from base. Bucky Egan joins in on the ‘fun’.
You Worrying About Me?
Kennedy Farley and Bucky Egan share a few tender moments in her first week after her arrival at the Stalag.
Know It’s You
Judy Rybinski and Rosie Rosenthal share a moment together on a summer night.
Always, Always, Always
Margie Harlowe is the last of the Silver Bullets girls to get to the Stalag. And she's been through hell and back. Benny DeMarco is there to bring her a bit of comfort. Always.
We All Lost Birdie
Marianne Salinger and Francis Montez discuss the recent loss of the Silver Bullets' crew. And what the future might hold. At 0400.
You Found Me
Bucky Egan’s POV of Kennedy Farley as he wrangles in his feelings in the dark corners of the Stalag.

It Was a Wonder
Margie Harlowe wakes up from a coma in the Med Bay and one of her first visitors is none other than Benny DeMarco himself.
The Waiting Game
Annie Bradshaw's fine (she's not). John Brady wants to help (she tells him no, he still helps).
She'd Fight a War Herself
Kennedy Farley finds John Egan reeling in the quiet library of the bunkhouse - and she's determined to figure out what's going on in his head.
It's In The Jar
Carrie Achterberg is hiding out in Silver Bullets, trying to get through grief, pain and sadness. James Douglass is also seeking her out - to help.
In This Light
Annie Bradshaw and John Brady share a quiet moment in this bit of moonlight.

Conspiracy theories...
...either at rest or still in motion across the Inner Sphere and beyond:
The "Caravanserai Theory", founded during the 3060s by a handful of paranoid officers, which supposes that the so-called Homeworlds are, in fact, only a garrison en route from the Clans' true home turf. Generally discredited because not enough people believed the Clans would lie about it, although some hardcore faithful persisted, on the basis that the known Clans might not even know there were more of them out there.
The "Jingo Juice Theory", founded about a decade in the aftermath of the Andurien Crisis by a few researchers. They claimed that both sides of the war had experimented with Vita-Orange laced with combat stimulants and psychoactive elements that could clot seditious thought. (Not really a conspiracy theory as such; it actually did happen, with good documentation, although it never got too far. More hindrance than help.)
The "Voluntary Caucus of Free Individuals", typically shortened to the Caucus, an anti-government group in the Commonwealth who believe it is effectively a company town and all its laws don't apply to them if they use very specific terminology in court. They only do business in homemade gold coins, believing Lyran currency to be company scrip, and sign documents in thumbprint only.
The "Phantom Caste Records", originating specifically in Clan Jade Falcon, by researchers of Clan history who claim that a sixth official caste (not Bandit or Dark) was designed but never implemented. This is typically referred to as the 'Translator Caste', although nobody in the community can actually put a finger on when that name started getting used for it.
The "ilKhan't Theory", circulated by some ex-Republicans, regarding a suspicion that the so-called Alaric Ward is at least a dozen Alarics Ward in a sub-caste of cloned and honed perfected ruler figures. Believers attempt to dig up a lack of or contradictory evidence on Ward's background or catch pictures that show him looking too different from other photos.
The "Stone Age Button Theory", first found in the Confederation but spreading outwards, suggesting that 'mech failures are the doings of some shadowy cabal who have tech implanted in every 'mech in the galaxy that can- at their will -either hamper, cripple, or straight-up shut it down. Who exactly this is varies; in the Confederation, for instance, the answer is usually whoever tried to invade them last, but in the Combine it is always the Davion family.
The "Democracy Syndrome", created by a bright spark of especial nationalistic fervor in the Combine, who wrote a lengthy thesis explaining how refusal to submit to the divine majesty of the Dragon was, in fact, the mental impact of a poor diet on the part of their interstellar neighbors, and if everybody changed what they ate the Sphere would be unified in a decade or less.
The "Scorpion Sting Cabal", a deeply involved theory that tracks movement of specific power players just beneath the public surface, and claims that Operation SCORPION did succeed- putting Blakist deep-plants into command structures where they'd never be looked for, primed and ready to strike. Formulated purely to build up vitriol against certain politicians in the FWL; little to no hard evidence.
The "Dual-Pilot Thesis", a definite standout, by a lone author, PFC Ronnie Merritt of the AFFS Third Ceti Hussars. He spent sixteen years writing articles, blog posts and actual books detailing his grand theory: Pouncer OmniMechs have two pilots. Specifically the Pouncer, not even all OmniMechs. No explanation, nor detailed photos of several different Pouncer configurations, could dissuade him. Tragically, he perished in a bus crash at the age of 41, and fierce insistence could lacerate his heart no more.

@sockdooe You absolutely do not need to apologize, ever, for "dumping" rants in the tags of my posts. I happen to love reading everything you have to say, and look forward to these "dumps", every time I see your username pop up in my notifications.
People are allowed to write and headcanon whatever they want (Looking at you, "Black Paladin Lance" AUs), but, it's concrete, indisputable canon that the Black Lion and Shiro had the strongest bond of any human Paladin and Lion pair.
Yes, Lance was the first to have a connection with a Lion, and the Red Lion came to Keith's aid of her own volition, just as the Green Lion likewise rushed to protect Pidge. That in no way negates just how much focus was given to building Shiro's bond with Black, and establishing him as the Paladin she chose, because they understood, valued, and trusted one another. Sure, the Black Lion absorbing Shiro into her inner quintessence might very well be a reference to the episode of Neon Genesis Evangelion where Shinji Ikari's body is similarly absorbed by his EVA Unit. Goodness knows there are plenty references to NGE and other anime scattered about. Shiro's Season One/Two design seems to have taken some heavy inspiration from Guts- shock of stress-induced white on a head of black hair, strong, square jaw, prosthetic arm, distinct lateral scar across the bridge of his nose-
-and he was originally intended to marry Roy Focker.
Nevertheless, it speaks volumes that this ancient, sentient force looked at a traumatized, battle-scarred, yet still extraordinarily gentle man with blood on his hands, sins to atone for, and feelings of self-loathing and desperation to prove himself worthy, prove that every fight in the Arena and every life he took to keep himself alive, every precious second of time he was able to steal back from Death's inescapable grip meant something if he can do good with all of the evil that has touched him, permeating the very essence of his being, and decided Him. He's the one I want. To the point of holding onto whatever she could of him after he died.
And, as much as this show tried to undermine that with Keith and the Clone Shiro being able to pilot the Black Lion, and later showing the previous Paladins also being preserved by their Lions' quintessence- inside of Haggar/Honerva's mind, despite the fact that she killed them outside of their Lions, because Season Eight's writing is an absolute convoluted mess- it will never, ever diminish the fact that Shiro is so special, not one, but two magic-powered sentient spacecrafts adopted him as their Person.
(I do wish the Atlas's interior wasn't so dark, dreary, and dull, though. They couldn't have given this poor man a ship with white walls and turquoise accents, or something? It had to be dingy gray and Galaxy Garrison orange?)
Even if we ignore the fans who hyperfocus on Lance and Keith, determined to turn them into the ultimate tragic heroes/victims of the universe/hyper-competent badasses/supremely empathetic Hearts of the Team (sorry, but that title belongs to Hunk. It will always belong to Hunk)/discount Shiros, the treatment of Shiro by the fandom has, since its inception, been dubious, at best.
He's a cheerleader for Keith/Lance. He's an obstacle to Keith/Lance, so we'll pair him off with Allura. No, wait, never mind, he's twenty-five, and therefore, absolutely off limits to every single one of the Paladins, and Allura, as a potential romantic partner, and anyone even slightly okay with one of these ships deserves to be harassed and indiscriminately labeled a "pedophile", including Shiro's voice actor. (We'll completely overlook, of course, that Keith is also a legal adult, and shipping him with any of the younger Paladins should, by those standards, be verboten, as well.) Shiro is the "Token Gay" who we'll cast aside in favor of Keith and/or Lance, but throw him the meagerest scrap of bone in the form of pairing him off with either the (dead) man who canonically ended their relationship on poor terms because he couldn't handle the emotional strain of another one of Shiro's medical scares, or the piece of glorified set dressing with no personality to speak of who Shiro barely interacts with, and whose name is never once spoken onscreen. Wait, no, Shiro's actually not gay enough (because he's not a mincing, flamboyant stereotype?), so we'll complain that we were "queerbaited" over a ship featuring a canonically heterosexual teenage boy that was never, ever going to happen.
And, the fans who do gravitate toward Shiro tend to sexualize him to the extent of discarding- or fetishizing- his trauma to get him naked and railing (in the most Out of Character portrayal imaginable), or being railed by, their character of choice as swiftly as possible.
Disgusting.
I can only hazard a guess that Shiro has been afflicted with so much extensive, irreversible trauma, fanfiction authors who are simply writing for fun with the intention of living vicariously through these characters don't want to have to confront the ugly, less than titillating reality of that trauma, or so much as touch it with a thirty-nine and a half foot pole. So, they choose to pretend it doesn't exist, or gloss over it, in exactly the manner the show, itself, does. This includes his illness, which, if we take Lauren Montgomery and Joaquim Dos Santos at their word, was written into Shiro's character from conception, along with his homosexual identity.
"I think a lot of his backstory was created independently, even from his sexual orientation, ‘cause that was just a part of who he was but it wasn’t necessarily a discovery moment. So the vast majority of the conversations of his backstory were around figuring out what else is there, the illness and those aspects of it. Him being gay was just something that we had always wanted to do with him from early on."
And, in the case of fans who try to turn their favorites into Shiro, which is one of the strangest, most inexplicable phenomena I have ever encountered in all of my years on the internet in fandom spaces- why designate a character as your favorite if you desperately need them to be someone else, instead of accepting them as they are?- they have to be slapping a prosthetic on those characters purely for the cheap angsty aesthetic.
Which is to be expected when people steal distinct traits from another character to apply to their favorite like a patchy, uneven coat of paint layered over top of what was already there. They don't understand why that other character had those traits, to begin with. They, presumably, see Shiro with his scars, his personal history with Sendak, Haggar, and Zarkon, the three most powerful and intimidating villains in the series, the physical and emotional evidence of the experimentation and torture Shiro was subjected to while in captivity, his relationship with the Black Lion, his irreplaceable presence and role on the team as a firm but gentle guiding light, and decide, "That's unique and makes him stand out as someone special and important. My favorite deserves to be special and important, too! So, I'll take what he has and give it to them!" It really is like a kid wanting another kid's favorite toy because their own isn't "good enough", and I can honestly say I've never seen this sort of behavior in any other fandom. If Lance and Keith fans, as they tend to be the prime perpetrators, recognize that Shiro has innate narrative significance and desirable qualities, why not adopt him as their favorite, instead?
It all comes back to the fanbase's rampant ageism, the ages of the fans, themselves (you'd have to be pretty darned young to think a twenty-five year-old is old enough to be a teenager's "dad"), and, I think, the fact that Shiro is a conventionally masculine gay man, rather than a skinny twink, so it isn't as easy to project more effeminate characteristics onto him.
Lance uses skin masks and moisturizes.
Shiro either doesn't sleep, or wakes up inhumanly early to do push-ups.
Characters with more reserved, subdued personalities also tend to be cast aside and written off as "boring" in favor of overtly loud, flashy, mostly comic relief ones. There is nothing wrong with preferring one or the other, and both have their place, especially in stories aimed at child audiences where a bit of levity is necessary after watching characters go through high stakes and intense emotional strain. But, it has always been my opinion that people who overlook the guarded, noble, self-sacrificing leaders who voluntarily bear the weight of the world on their shoulders have poor taste. That sort of frank dismissal demonstrates an unwillingness to peer past the supposedly "uninteresting" surface and see what makes these characters pillars of leadership, virtue, and heroism, in the first place.
Like reaching out to a kid the rest of the world has given up on, and offering him a helping hand.
Like being willing to paint yourself as a bloodthirsty savage and attacking a scared friend to keep him out of a fight where he surely would have lost his life.
Like offering encouragement, guidance, and support to the people in your care, so they come to trust you as a friend, and confidante.
And, never hesitating to protect someone who can't protect themselves.
Takashi Shirogane is beautiful, inside and out.
The "fans" who don't understand or appreciate that, and especially the ones who think this show could have possibly stood to benefit from killing him permanently, have objectively rancid opinions. And, should almost definitely steer clear of trauma survivors, because they fail to understand what Shiro means to us as a representation of the kind of person we all could be if we're willing to never give up on ourselves, and try.
Let him be showered in all of the tender forehead kisses, get to sleep on the comfiest plush mattress, and be surrounded by an army of soft and fluffy plushies. Forever and ever.

trips and face-plants and all these fall out of my pockets... no my pyro manifesto... how did that get there haha...
anyways. i have thoughts about him so here they are! somehow this little freak wormed his way into being my favorite x men character and im fine with it. hes SO silly, he is everything, a pulp fiction writer, a journalist, a typical henchman, he's willing to kill kids but draws the line at animals, he's died and come back at least 3 times, he's had his identity stolen and said identity stealer had a thing with iceman that they never brought up again when he came back to life later, his original creator said he intended him to be gay but then he left marvel before they actually did anything with that, he's even australian. And that is just the comics!
In the shows and movies, x men evolution is SO good. He doesn't appear much sadly, and gets taken out with like one hit when he does, but he's very silly goose, he's an absolute delight to watch. And his design is top tier for me. It's SO practical and I love his stupid neon orange fire hair so much. In movies, he's absolutely wonderful, he's just not higher bcuz he's not an aussie :( and that's sad, I love how tragic he is for one, and his whole ex-friends with Bobby is SO good I wish we saw these guys after days of future past but nope. But we see pyro again in Deadpool and Wolverine and he's a minor antagonist yay I literally clapped and cheered when he came up I was the only one in the theater to do so but still. Pryde of the x men, he's main henchman in that and he's pretty good, the show sadly was never greenlit and it's just a pilot but still. X men animated series he's British they massacred my boy I know in his first couple comic appearances he was it they changed it, major L, and wolverine and the x men he's only in like? 2 eps and they could replace him with matchstick that's how much he contributes, then he gets fridged so whatever. And finally, superhero squad, my og superhero show that adapted the comics better than the marvel movies. He's technically in there too I guess.
I've tried to catch all his appearances in adaptations but I might have missed a few, so if I have PLEASE let me know because I'll watch it no matter how bad it is. I'm working my way through his comic appearances, started with Marauders and working back, not an ideal way to do it I can say.
anyways here's the full picture of his redesign i did. i love his regular design a lot but i wanted to make it more Complicated and Fun so.

I have an idea. Evangelion Reverse 1999 AU
Turn the doomed yaoi to doomed yuri and its perfect!
The White Marble House is basically Seele and the Foundation is Nerve.
Manus are the Angels invading plus the boss designs do give that space horror.
Vertin is Shinji, Rei is Sonetto and Matilda is Asuka.
Constantine is Gendo (so get in the robot Vertin!) and Madam Z and Tooth Fairy is Misato and Ritsuko respectively.
Schneider can be Kaworu for the tragic yuri (the scene where Shinji crushes Kaworu with the Eva)
The Eva mechs are all the mothers of the repective characters so Vertin in Eva 1 is piloting the remnants of her mother (I canonise the situationship with Constantine here)
Uh yeah the Third Impact is basically the Storm on steroids so yeah - Vertin at some point causes the Third Impact so yippee.
(Too much into an AU again, uh its either this or a Witch From Mercury AU, wasn't sure if you were similar with it)
My friend, I uh... I have never watched Evangelion 😓
I haven't watched Witch From Mercury so you're right on that!
I'm sorry I have no idea what some of this is but I have to go with what little Evangelion media I consumed ("FELIZ JUEVES" IS ALL I KNOW I'M SORRY)
About the Boss design, I do agree they give space horror with the way they're designed. Specifically Arcana, Arcana is creepy. But the Manus designs could get a little body horror style in order to make them more unsettling and hard to understand to the human eye, which is often how the extraterrestrial bodies are described.
I'm not sure what "Angels" are in Evangelion so I can't assume those are the biblically depicted angels or if they're a little more humanoid with or without wings
As for Vertin as Shinji (I think Shinji is the sad man in a white shirt, right?) and Schneider as Kaworu (the one with white hair?), they're doomed in every AU I'm sorry. I didn't know Evangelion had Doomed Yaoi as well.
Well that scene you described to me sounds a lot like the Green Oranges scene, does it play out similarly or can we switch it a bit?
Wait if Matilda is Asuka then imagine the Feliz Jueves with Matilda instead of Asuka
(THIS IS LITERALLY ALL I KNOW OF EVANGELION)
So uh, feel free to ramble to me about this AU bc I'm useless in crossovers 😓
#reverse 1999#I have remembered too little#I only watched Dragon Ball and Bloom Into You#as in finished to certain point 😓#other animes are not my thing#maybe count BNA & KNY because I have Netflix and was bored one day#tried watching Cyberpunk Edge Runners but I couldn't sit still#so...#I'm very sorry I'm not so good with crossover AUs because I only know Reverse 1999 and that's it 😔#and some niche games as well

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, Jeremiah Gottwald —Aesthetic
Jeremiah Gottwald's Character & Personality
Jerry is a twenty-eight-year-old man who's an Margrave and the highest-ranking general to the royal guard. Being a Pureblood Britannian and an elite Knightmare Frame pilot, he's deeply concerned with the maintenance of Purist supremacy in Britannian society. Jerry is somewhat overconfident and passionate about furthering his goals. These qualities tend to make him rash and impulsive in battle. At first, Jerry was against anyone who posed as a threat to the Britannian Empire, a nation which Empress Marianne once ruled. However, when he realized the rebellion was born from Britannia failing his beloved Empress, he became quite devoted to the Eleventh Prince's cause. Thus, he's willing to betray anyone in order to prove his loyalty to both of Marrian’s children. Additionally, Jerry gained a new perspective on being called "Orange" or "Orange Boy"; saying it's a name of loyalty to his Prince. After completing the Requiem, the tragic cyborg became an orange farmer.

im into the bad habit of giving characters favorite colors that arent their associated ones and i had this one lingering in the back of my mind for a while so ill share it
snippy: associated blue due to where he works (g-dir) and actually being in uniform throughout the story. favorite one is actually red and he has a bunch of stuff with that color (red boxers that say juicy on the ass, for example)
captain: zee likes them all :) small bias towards red (still...)
pilot: loves loves LOVES green, color of nature, color of being human, always green never blue. but loves purple (captain) slightly more.
engie: orange came naturally since its the color of choice for protecting against blue screens, blue social media, blue technology. his favorite color is, tragically, blue.
annet: adheres to blue, swears its orange, lets go of this over time and embraces the rainbow. incoherent messy tastes because she always manages to choose colors in brightness and saturations that simply dont match. F
infi: uses all sorts of possible and impossible colors all the time, but settles on cyan and black when she leaves her extreme edgy scenecore phase into a less extreme edgy pastel goth phase
mug: Transparency Grid
117: pink for love and friendship and legally blonde ^_^ yipee yay
#this might be my own bias because red and yellow are my favorites but if youd ask me red is the color of being human because of blood#blood is not exclusive to humans. the color of being alive? so is green. idk#oreko was the realest for being an engineer under the fucking ocean an turning everything orange. i love her so much but this isnt about he#babo didnt have a favorite color until he met ena then he warmed up to green because its his favorite :) despite all the yellow#uhm who else have i thought about this#kenny mccormick south park loves purple but thats a fandom popular one because of his personas being heavy purplers#butters likes orange no further explanation needed nor will it be given.#sugar.txt#reading romac

shunt and strike! (with his cane. teehee.)
𝐋𝐎𝐔𝐃 & 𝐃𝐄𝐀𝐅𝐄𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐒𝐈𝐋𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 shunt . shove my muse backwards . strike . my muse in the face (with his cane)
"One bag."
"Xerxes, no."
"Nobody would know."
"Zhilan would kill me?"
"That would be a very tragic problem," Xerxes Break folded his hands over his cane with a smile, glimpses of his single eye curving into a crescent behind his hair. "for you, that is."
"..."
Wang Yi slowly clenches his fist. Unclenches it. Rests his hand on the handlebars before him and takes a deep breath.
"Then it's a good thing I'm the one piloting this thing, aren't I?" Leaning forward, he pushes the man in the wheelchair past the enticing scents of the candy store and next door into...a soup and salad bar.
***
Twenty minutes later, the formerly fearsome wielder of Mad Hatter finds himself sitting at a table and staring with the first flickers of anger at the contents of his bowl. Not that he can see it, but swirling the spoon around had already told him enough.
"What is this?" he demands testily to the pink-haired man across him.
Wang Yi finishes crunching his iceberg lettuce. "Soup."
"I know that, but why is it in front of me?"
"Because it's lunchtime," Wang Yi says simply. "Look, it's liquid—you don't even have to chew—"
"It doesn't make a difference what my teeth do," Break replies testily, "when my stomach is the one with the problem."
And that's the crux of things, isn't it? Break hates food—or rather, has trouble keeping it down, but he can't just eat candy all day. He's been taking bits and pieces at home, but a mouse probably eats more than he does in one sitting and no one (not even Zhilan and his ever-winsome personality) can really make a dent of difference about that.
So Wang Yi takes Break on a field trip.
An approved kidnapping more like, managed with a rented wheelchair that he urges Break into because 1) it'd be faster and 2) hey, he wouldn't have to do any work. Break looks awfully thin in the chair too, but it's something neither of them comments on because Break will kill him and Wang Yi has better things to die for, and so they manage to get along just fine for the first few blocks.
Back in the restaurant, Wang Yi sets aside his fork and raises a hand. ' Check, please. '
Break arches an eyebrow. "Oh, are we leaving already?"
' You have better things to do with your day than fight with soup, ' Wang Yi points out.
"Such as seeing all the ways you bend over backwards twisting your words to appeal to me?"
' Whatever works, ' Wang Yi shrugs and smiles at the waiter coming to their table. ' Hi, can we also get the soup to go, please? '
"I'm not going to drink this at home either."
' What, like I can't? It's good soup, I'll take it if you don't want it. '
Break shoots him another look, Wang Yi laughs, the soup is packed and the bill paid. See? Everything is fine.
***
Everything is not fine.
Xerxes Break pinches the half-bitten sugared bittermelon between his hands with something akin to fascinated disgust before waving it in Wang Yi's face.
"What is this abomination."
Wang Yi finishes chewing on his sugared burdock root. ' It's candy? '
"It is not."
' Yeah, it's a little healthier than that, I think. Plenty of sugar though—isn't that what you like? '
"It doesn't matter how much sugar you put if it still tastes bitter afterwards!"
Break drops the candied vegetable back in the box and Wang Yi takes the chance to peek at his other options: ginger, orange peel, and radish. ' That's because your box kinda sucks, ' he says matter-of-factly. ' Here, have a tomato from mine—they're pretty good, no funny aftertaste. '
He picks up a piece but Break beats him to it, using his cane to hook the inside of Wang Yi's box and dragging it to his side of the table.
' Hey, what gives—? '
"You said my box sucks, so we can just skip the hassle and trade," Break explains matter-of-factly while pushing his own over. He dips confidently into Wang Yi's box, picks up a piece of mystery satozuke, and pops it in his mouth. Like the other one, it's chewy, but satisfyingly sweet with no weird flavors, though still disappointingly just a carrot. He's mollified, but just barely. "Why would anyone spend time coating vegetables in these..."
' Tomatoes aren't vegetables, ' Wang Yi points out.
Break wants to shut him up.
***
They end their day of impromptu food tours (no candy, in Break's case) and sightseeing (sight-speaking, in Wang Yi's case) in front of the same sweets store they passed that morning. This time they're both walking on their own feet, Break having abandoned the wheelchair a while back after getting sick of sitting in it. He stops as soon as the smell of sugar wafts over his face, nearly causing Wang Yi to trip over him and drop all the bags of snacks and samples they'd gathered throughout the day.
' Xerxes, ' Wang Yi begins when he realizes why they've stopped. He reaches for the man's arm. ' Don't—oof! '
Break shoves him back none-too-gently and crosses his arms, irritation written all over his face. "I've been going along with your terrible shop decisions to taste all manner of manufactured nightmares. It's about time I get something I'll actually appreciate, don't you think?"
' Zhilan said neither of us are taking a step in a candy store today so—hey! Put that down! ' Wang Yi leans back as Break suddenly raises his cane at him. ' Listen to me—ouch! ' He gets thwacked on both shoulders.
"Then you should've picked a route without the store," Break scolds him. "Even I can see that." And I'm blind. Idiot.
' Well that's because— ' This is the closest route to the bus stop and—Wang Yi pauses as the cane raises itself again and finally drops his bags to reach inside his pockets. ' Dammit Xerxes, I already bought them for you! '
A small cloth bag of candy almost hits Break in the chest before he catches it with pure instinct. He can't see its contents, but the smell of strawberry is obvious enough in the air. Digging in, he unwraps one from its wrapper and pops it into his mouth. Delicious. Wang Yi gets an appraising look in turn. "Since when?" After all, they'd been together for the entire day.
' Obviously I bought it yesterday! Loopholes exist, you know. ' Wang Yi says, and Break can already hear the scowl. He doesn't appreciate the dig at his intelligence though, so the butt of his cane darts forward to smack Wang Yi precisely in the center of his forehead.
' Ow! '
"It's what you deserve," Break huffs as he pockets the offering in his pockets and turns around, cane tapping against the ground in a brisker, more cheerful pace. "Come along, we're running late." He still wanted to be home before Zhilan returned from the library.
' Oh, so you were keeping track of time, ' Wang Yi grumbles as he bends down to pick up their bags.
"Your constant glancing at your phone was obvious enough."
' How did you see that? '
"You were so noisy about it I didn't even have to look."
' That's...pretty neat, actually. '
Whatever the case, the day is done. It would've been better if he'd snuck out by himself, but it's true that with Wang Yi around things went faster. Break finally parts with the bright-haired nuisance at the door, slips into his room in the empty house unnoticed, and gleefully digs out the bag of candy he'd gotten for free in the end. Now, time to enjo—
The bag is empty. Not wholly so—because he shakes a few more sweets out of it, hearing them drop into his lap, but the weight of the package completely belies its sparse contents. Frowning, Break feels the insides with his fingers and brushes against something round and smooth sewn in between its fabric layers. They were similar to pebbles, but clinked on impact with a sound not unlike hard candies...
Sensing a bad premonition, Break runs his fingers through the pile of sweets he thought he dumped out and realized most of them are just balls of cellophane. Wang Yi must have lined the top layer with a few candies and stuffed the rest with empty filling. How clever. How irritating. How atrocious. He will get him for this, oh yes he will, and the next time they meet there shall be a reckoning the likes of the world has never kno—crinkle.
His fingers brush against paper—another handwritten note? When Wang Yi already knows he's blind? Again the anger in him soars, but he can't deny wondering what the fool had dared to write. So.
He reads it, in the end.
Sorry. Like I said, Zhilan would kill me.
But I figure you could try sampling stuff from different stores so you can pick a fav in the future? There's 6 from Golden in there, though I heard there's a lot more shops hidden in Archimedes and Cotes. Something to think about, maybe. No need to keep this note for blackmail. I already told the people who would've wanted to know.
Break only wishes Wang Yi could write shorter messages that get to the point faster. He feels around his lap until he finds the five remaining candies—all strawberry-flavored, he notes—and cleans up the remaining cellophane into the bag before he's caught and forced to explain. Or perhaps there's no need to bother, if Wang Yi's already shared about his ideas. He doesn't quite trust the man on his words alone, though.
This, he reminds himself, is not an act that merits murder. Not even a phone call—though he gets satisfaction imagining himself tearing the man down with words alone. Wang Yi does have a strange propensity to grovel, which is as annoying as it is convenient. He uses his voice to dictate text messages instead.
XB [txt] Very funny. XB [txt] I hope you know that I'll be expecting one bag from each store after this, considering the difficulty of describing which candy is what when I can't see them.
There's a ping a few minutes later when Wang Yi replies, his words spoken out loud by the phone A.I. for Break's convenience.
WY [txt] Well yeah, that's the fun part, you see? WY [txt] Finished tracking down Zhilan—gave him the 6 bags—you two can figure it out together. WY [txt] Unless you ate the samples already, which is fine too but that means you've reached your candy quota for the day, so he won't let you taste-test any more until tomorrow.
Break arches a brow.
XB [txt] Why couldn't you have just given me the bags to begin with? WY[txt] What, and deprive Zhilan of his bonding time? I'm not a monster. WY [txt] And also, leaving that much sugar with you unsupervised is just insane right now. XB [txt] Don't act like you care all of a sudden. WY [txt] Don't act like you don't, then. WY [txt] Do you want me to tell you what Zhilan's wearing instead? Because he's looking pretty fluffy—fluffier than usual, I mean. XB [txt] I can ask him. Myself. WY [txt] Ok, then what about kissing tutorials? WY [txt] I found a good one the other day WY [txt] Not freaky I mean—so that might be—
Break turns off his phone in the middle of Wang Yi's rambling messages and puts it on the table by his bed. Forget the switcheroo with his candy bag. Forget the tiresome snacks Wang Yi had them sample all day. Forget even the careless way the guy references his relationship with the special someone in his life, because he hears the door opening and Zhilan stepping inside in his soft, quiet soles.
He tilts his head to listen closer, hearing the footsteps pause as shoes are taken off before their owner walks straight to his bedroom door. It's ajar, so all Zhilan has to do to nudge it open with his shoulder to peek inside.
"Xerxes," he begins breathlessly. "Did—do you want to try some candy?"
And oh. Just hearing that is already sweeter than anything he's tasted today, including the candy he'd sucked on outside the house. Break opens his arms to welcome him, a smile already stealing onto his lips, and says yes.
The hapless Wang Yi gets to live another day.

Ahhh omg just saw your pinned post Shownu and solar??? DUDE imagine a Pacific rim au with them all ripped and scarred and war-hardened from being Jaeger pilot partners. All the fun and sexy moments they share with a tragic backdrop. The angst fjfjfjdkggjdks just another orange for your thoughts 🍊 heh
DBB ANON
I LOVE ALL OF THESE ORANGE THOUGHTS
and I love this AU concept. Two hot, talented pilots (Shownu whose co-pilot is Wonho and Solar whose co-pilot is Moonbyul) that sometimes sneak into each other's dorm in the Shatterdome to fuck and blow off steam. It's tough to date non-pilots since they just don't get the job, and it's tough to date AT ALL as a pilot bc the job always has to come first. It works out well that they can meet up, fuck each other's brains out and then get back to work, but it IS incredibly tough on Shownu to keep his cool when Solar and Byul are deployed to fight a huge kaiju and Solar ends up hurt...
#Bro this SLAPS#I love it and you#thank you!#Solar smut#Shownu smut#PRAU#New tag for any and all Pacific Rim discourse!!!#AU favorite#Dbb

Earth-18104 - 1989
Events that occurred in the year 1989.
This is the start of the Age of Heroes, so each year will be a different post, some with more important events than others (and most of them focus on the X-Men).
The stories are not complete or are summarized, and are inspired by other medias, like the movies, comics and series, but don't follow Marvel Canon or the time-line established so faithfully, and include stories of my OCs.
The (N) at the end of names serves to indicate character births and the numbers are their ages. I will include more events as I write more about the characters.
List of Events of Earth-18104 (Resume)
1989 -
• Wade Wilson (18) joined the US Army Special Forces, but despite his superior skills, he was dismissed for not following orders that conflicted with his moral code.
• (April)
• Harry Osborn (8) met Peter Parker (8) at school, initially being friends with Flash Thompson (10), he disliked Peter, taking his distant behavior as snobbery.
• However, he soon realized that Peter was just shy and distracted by his Aunt May's health problems.
• Soon the two became best friends and Harry began to defend Peter from school bullies. In addition to Peter, he also became friends with Mary Jane Watson (8), who attended the same school as them and was Peter's neighbor.
• Helen Cho (24) met her future husband Phillip and the two began dating.
• A few months later, when Phillip found a job in the United States, Helen agreed to follow him, and the two moved together to Arizona, where they bought a house in Tucson and integrated well into the existing community.
• (EVENT - Rise of the Fantastic Four)
• Brilliant aeronautical engineer Reed Richards (26) was working on an experimental faster-than-light rocket called Marvel-1 that he intended to use to explore an Earth-like planet called Spyre located 44 light years away.
• Unfortunately he had no money to finance his research and had to ask his old colleague, Victor Von Doom (27), for help.
• Previously, Victor and Richards were college classmates, and as both were considered geniuses of their generation, they often debated each other, their intelligence astounding their teachers.
• During the mission preparation, and even during college, Richards spent days planning the trip, while Doom worked on a different project: a machine capable of projecting a person's astral form across dimensions, practically bringing a person into the world. your plan.
• Secretly, it was a way for Doom to free his late mother from the clutches of the demon Mephisto, who he believed had imprisoned Cynthia von Doom when Victor was a child.
• As a successful businessman, Victor, believing that Richards' mission would bring him closer to completing his project, approved the trip and financed the mission, with a team that consisted of four members: himself, Richards, Air Force pilot Ben Grimm (27), and Dr. Sue Storm (24).
• In addition to the four of them, Susan's brother, Johnny Storm (17), wanted to join the mission, feeling that something was waiting for him outside. Despite Susan's protests, he underwent grueling training and became Ben's co-pilot.
• (July 8 - Launch of Marvel-1)
• Once in space, the rocket experienced a cosmic radiation storm. Although prepared for them, the ship was met with an unexpected intensity of radiation and its shielding was unable to contain it. The ship crashed back to Earth.
• Emerging from the ruins of the spaceship, they discovered that the radiation had mutated their bodies and given them remarkable new abilities.
• Reed gained the ability to stretch his body and limbs, Johnny was able to fly and engulf himself in flames that he could control, and Sue was able to bend light around her body and become invisible.
• Ben gained incredible strength and durability, but his body was tragically transformed. He now had orange, rock-like muscular skin.
• Victor also absorbed mysterious energy and developed the ability to control and create electricity.
• All four moved to the Baxter Building, where Reed began studying his powers and tried to find a way to reverse the process.
• Ben was initially bitter about his mutation into a monster and was often angry or depressed. Johnny was often rebellious, leaving Sue to act as the team mom.
• Meanwhile, Victor developed his new ability on his own. Angered by the failure of the mission he thought would be his success, he became more obsessed with finishing his machine himself, breaking away from the rest of the team to do so.
• The mission also caused him to lose millions and his company's stock plummeted. His investors cut off his funding and he was on the verge of bankruptcy.
• He attacked the investor who ruined him by electrocuting him in a parking lot and went back to finish his machine.
• Upon discovering what he was working on, Reed pointed out a flaw in Doom's calculations and warned him that the goal of his project could be unethical and selfish. Victor arrogantly ignored his warnings.
• Reed then returned to the Baxter Building, knowing he couldn't change Victor's mind.
• Then, when trying to get the machine to work, what Reed feared happened. The machine exploded, leaving scars on Victor's face. During the accident, part of his body fused to the metal of the machine and he looked for one of the masks to hide his face.
• From then on, he blamed Reed Richards for his failure and called himself "Doctor Doom".
• A few weeks after the Marvel-1 incident, the quartet was caught by the government and contained in a government quarantine facility for those exposed to cosmic rays under the command of Reed's colleague, General Walter Montgomery.
• Doom broke into the facility and used the machine Reed was building to restore Ben to human form, knocking him unconscious while he captured Richards.
• Having demonstrated the effectiveness of her new powers, Sue managed to convince General Montgomery to release the remaining Fantastic Four and allow them to face Doom.
• Even in human form, Ben went with the Storm to save Reed. The four faced Doom with great difficulty until Ben managed to transform into the Thing again, while Johnny and Sue combined their powers to envelop Doom in an inferno of intense heat.
• Grimm and Richards douse him with cold water, inducing thermal shock and freezing Doom in place.
• After Victor's defeat, the four decided to use their powers to better humanity and founded the Fantastic Four, the first group of superhumans of the New Age.
• Individually, they call themselves Mister Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, the Torch Human and the Thing. They are not superheroes in the traditional sense, but rather explorers, facing whatever challenges may arise as a family.
• Reed then helped release Victor, and he apologized for not helping him before. Then Victor was sent back to his homeland, Latveria.
• Unbeknownst to him, during the trip back, the dockmaster's electronic manifest briefly suffers electromagnetic interference and Doom escaped.
• After the debut of the Fantastic Four, Phineas Horton (83) was furious to learn that their youngest member, Johnny Storm had taken on the mantle of the Human Torch, thinking it was an insult to the original Torch.
• Nick Fury Jr (41) was approached by Commander Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, who informed him that the government was reactivating the super soldier program, in part motivated by the fact that humanity needed to be prepared for an inevitable genetic war with the growing mutant population.
• Fury had the chance to take charge of everything. He agreed and began tracking different individuals who were super powerful or had special abilities, a new version of the old Avengers Project.
• Phillip Masters (61) discovered that by sculpting clay found near Wundagore Mountain he was able to take control of their bodies, for many years he claimed this was due to the clay being radioactive.
• At some point, Phillip returned to his homeland and obtained a large quantity of clay to begin a criminal career.
• (Wild Child)
• Kyle Gibney (5) was raised by his mother, Sarah Gibney, and his stepfather, who he believed was his biological father.
• In reality, his father was the criminal Sabretooth, and because of this, Kyle was a second-generation mutant and his mutation appeared when he was still very young.
• Because his mutation is stronger than his father's, Kyle had "wild" attitudes and habits since he was a baby, such as running on all fours and growling. When he turned five, his fangs began to emerge, much to his family's horror.
• (September)
• When Scott Summers (13) woke up several months after falling into a coma, he was under the care of the Essex Clinic in New York City.
• There was a large band over his eyes, preventing him from seeing and releasing his energy rays.
• He was soon visited by Charles Xavier (52), who assured him that there were no witnesses to the awakening of his mutant ability in Nebraska and that the damage to the hospital was attributed to a gas explosion. He informed Scott that he was a mutant and invited him to join his special school.
• Scott accepted, hoping to meet his brothers one day. He was taken to Graymalkin Manor and given a special visor made of ruby quartz by a mysterious figure, which allowed him to see and control his powers.
• (FF - Puppet Master)
• Now calling himself the Puppet Master, Phillip Masters' first criminal operation was to place the Thing, Ben Grimm (27), under his control. Doing so, he ordered Ben to come to his apartment, unaware that the Invisible Girl was following.
• The intruder's presence was betrayed thanks to the keen hearing of Alicia Reiss (23) and the Puppet Master knocked Susan out.
• Disguising Alicia as Sue Storm, he sent her with the Thing to the Baxter Building, forcing him to attack the rest of the Fantastic Four; Fortunately he was freed from the control of Master, who had taken control of the State Prison and staged a mass escape.
• The imprisoned Sue Storm managed to set off a warning flare and with Alicia's instructions, the Fantastic Four attacked the Puppet Master in his home. However, while the heroes were occupied by one of their robotic dolls, he escaped with Alicia.
• While the Fantastic Four prevented the prison break, the Puppet Master attempted to use a puppet of himself that he believed would make him king of the world.
• However, Alicia intervened and snatched the doll from his hand, throwing it to the ground, giving the Fantastic Four the chance to arrest him.
• After this incident, Alicia Reiss became close friends with the Fantastic Four and also began spending a lot of time with Ben Grimm.
• She tried to show him his inner beauty, but Ben's depression over his transformation into a monster made this struggle difficult for him.
• Eventually, the pair began dating and Alicia put her sculpting skills to work creating replicas of the Fantastic Four's enemies.
• (October 7, Saturday)
• Captain America's body is discovered by SHIELD, frozen in a state of preservation. He was thawed and held at one of the SHIELD bases in New York, being placed in a simulated 1941 environment to try and calm him down to what was happening now.
• When he woke up, Rogers quickly became suspicious; the baseball game broadcast on the living room radio was one of the Brooklyn Dodgers' home games, which he attended in person at Ebbets Field.
• Knowing he was being tricked, he managed to escape and run through the streets of New York. In Times Square, he discovered to his horror that everything around him had totally changed.
• As he remained stunned, SHIELD agents surrounded him before he was greeted by Nick Fury Sr, who informed him that he had been asleep for nearly fifty years.
• Rogers realized that many of his Howling Commandos friends were likely dead and he was now lost in a world he knew nothing about. Thinking sadly of Peggy Carter, he told Fury he had a date that he unfortunately missed.
• Rogers found himself lost in a world that had moved on without him and found it difficult to adjust to his new surroundings, considering where he had left his life during World War II.
• He spent a few weeks in seclusion at the Retreat which was one of SHIELD's many Safe Houses and then moved to an apartment in New York City.
• (X-Men - Iceman)
• Bobby Drake (12) continued to train in using his powers.
• Upon discovering that his classmate Judy Harmon liked him, Bobby was convinced by his friend Tommy to invite her to the movies during Halloween, even if just to become friends, as he didn't reciprocate her feelings.
• When the movie ended, Bobby and Judy separated from their friends and were confronted by the school bully, Rocky Beasely and his gang. Fearing for Judy's safety, Bobby used his mutant powers to freeze Rocky in a block of ice, trapping him from the waist down.
• Horrified by what happened, the boys, Tommy and Judy fled the scene, leaving Rocky behind. Bobby tried to free the boy, but he had never tried to unfreeze objects; so he ran home to tell what had happened.
• Not long after, the local sheriff showed up to take Bobby into police custody. Believing he would get a fair trial, Bobby surrendered to the police. When the story hit the news, Professor Xavier and Scott went to visit Bobby to invite him to join their group.
• With the help of Fred Duncan, Xavier managed to meet with Bobby, but the boy refused to join him, shouting for Xavier to leave. His attitude irritated Scott and the two began to fight.
• Xavier separated the two and promised Bobby that he would use his powers to erase the incident from the memory of everyone in the city, showing that a mob angry with Bobby was forming outside the prison.
• Bobby asked Xavier to make sure Rocky and Judy weren't hurt and agreed to join his school. Xavier fulfilled his part of the deal and talked to Bobby's parents who at first didn't want to send him to Westchester, but in the end agreed to keep their son safe.
• Upon arriving at the Graymalkin residence, the first thing Bobby did was use his powers, happy to finally be somewhere where he could be himself.
• (The Cavalcantes - OC)
• At some point, the facility where Helen Cho (24) was working was attacked by Purifiers and she was trapped under rubble after an explosion.
• While most of her colleagues died, she survived and was rescued by mercenary Tereza Márquez (174), also known as Sanguinária, who pulled her from under the rubble and rescued her while facing the Purifiers.
• When she regained consciousness, Helen recognized Tereza and was initially afraid of the woman, but she promised to take the doctor back home if she helped her with something important.
• Helen accepted and was taken to Sister Margaret's Home for Wayward Girls in Manhattan, a house of mercenaries.
• There, Francine Cavalcante asked her to help her husband Antônio who was aging rapidly because of the loss of the Seed of Life given by the Inner Circle.
• Unfortunately, Helen could not help Antônio, as there was no way to reverse the effects of an object she did not understand. Antonio was already old and without the seed keeping him young, he had a few more years before his body aged and he finally died.
• She asked Tereza to give her a sample of the Seed, however, only Santiago cultivated the seeds.
• After hearing the news, Francine rudely kicked Helen out of her house and forbade Tereza from returning, blaming her for the loss of her family. Tereza apologized to the doctor on her sister's behalf and kept her promise, taking her back home, before warning her not to tell anyone what had happened.
• Later, Helen was invited to work for SHIELD in their science department, recommended by Márquez.
• Over the next few years, Helen often helped Tereza when she was injured and the two even became close friends. Helen became one of the only people Tereza had genuine respect.
• (November 9)
• The Berlin Wall is demolished.
• Loki, the God of Mischief, makes a deal with Thanos to retrieve the Tesseract in exchange for a Chitauri army to conquer Earth.
• (December)
• Jean Grey is taken by Xavier to Graymalkin Lane, where she lives with Bobby Drake and Scott Summers, starting her training as an X-Men with the codename Marvel Girl.

hi shannon!! marianne is calling my name so... can i request "it's 4am. you need sleep." with her? 😁 hope you're having an AMAZING day!!
HI BLUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!! you already are very aware of my excitement towards this prompt because i have not talked as much as i have wanted about my queen marianne salinger, resident tail-gunner of silver bullets who loves three things in this world (1) the silver bullets crew, (2) frank sinatra and (3) her orange cat, frank. AND OF COURSE -- i took this opportunity to talk a bit more about co-pilot of silver bullets, francis montez - co-pilots are just....they're so interesting. there is so much depth to them, especially what their relationship is with the pilot, and we dig into that here. also -- we get some birdie faulkner mentions! my queen (lost but not forgotten)!! francis montez, my tragic hero, i am HUGGING YOU!!!!! please enjoy this look into life before annie bradshaw became replacement command pilot for silver bullets! it is such an interesting space to work in, especially considering what we already know about life with annie bradshaw as the pilot!!!
we all lost birdie
(a/n): marianne salinger POV of the limbo time in between the command of birdie faulkner and annie bradshaw as francis montez struggles with the weight of leadership in a time like this. let's just say....she's not coping well, but the silver bullets crew is there to help with that. also -- marianne is just a gem for real, like observant, chaotic af, non-smoker but is the 'do it because my friends did it' person tbh she's great LMAO! please enjoy!!! (and thank you blu for this....i sincerely hope you enjoy!!!) <3333333 co-pilots my beloved!!
Birdie Faulkner had been on levels even some men would never get to in their lifetime. Highly respected, rather decorated and equally intelligent as any man flying a B-17 as anyone. It’s probably what made Silver Bullets so reliable.
The first she picked was her co-pilot.
Francis Montez - a good Californian, who had top marks in school and a knack for opening up her mouth when prompted, she was an easy choice for co-pilot, a second in command, another leader who would undoubtedly be useful in unforeseen circumstances.
The navigator and bombardier came next: Bessie Carlisle and Carrie Achterberg or Bergie, of Queens and Brooklyn, New York, respectively, from two sides of the same town. Damn good at their jobs, efficient, the glue to the crew and the ones with the brains. Necessary investments.
Then came the flight engineer. Not only must she know all she can about the B-17 but how to fix it on the ground or in the air if needed. Marjorie Harlowe - or Margie - from Michigan, took up that role with ease. A smile, a flick of the finger, an easy-going and competent nature - it wasn’t any surprise that if you flew with Margie Harlowe, you were safe.
Radio ops was next - Paulina Stagliano of Philly was one to talk. Loud mouth and an even louder mind, she got her point across in short question and answer scenarios for her crew, and was always of the opportune to play music when the morale was low.
Then - her turret gunners.
Waist gunners were first - Kennedy Farley hailed from Boston, a rather passionate, raging Red Sox fan, who was a fierce and loyal protector and friend. And a damn-good gunner - she knew that gun inside and out and if you needed a hand with repairs, she'd show up with a smoke, a screwdriver and a small frown and get it done in 5 minutes.
Vivian Ratcliffe from Colorado had grown up with a father teaching her the ropes in mechanic garages - and it was no wonder she was so used to the cold up in that open-air belly - nights and mornings spent skiing in the Rockies, gaining rough-and-tumble love from nature, from the air to the sea. The best of the group, truly.
Then she went for the ball turret gunner - they had to be pretty small, reliable, quick-witted, and no doubt, Birdie wanted someone with a funny personality - Judy Rybinski was practically over-qualified for the role. Showing up with a grin on her face, offering Birdie a bouquet of wildflowers hand-picked, shaking hands and talking about how quickly she could blow a target from the sky seemed to sell Birdie and the rest of the crew immediately. She was a peach.
Then there was herself; Marianne Salinger.
Tail gunner.
Sort of oddly lanky, but not super tail, slightly scrutinizing of others that weren't her crew, painter and animal lover when the war wasn't on, and a Frank Sinatra fan that even if his mother showed up, Marianne would've professed her love greater onward than that. She even found a stray orange tabby named Frank to join her.
She was a lot of things in ways, but very observant. Incredibly observant. Overly observant. And sometimes - to be like that hurt.
Because right now, Birdie was dead.
And the Silver Bullets crew was pilotless - the vacant spot staring the 90% crew in the face, the empty cot where Birdie's things had been like a sore bruise on the body - aching, but almost gone.
In moments like this, Marianne always admired Lieutenant Montez.
Probably since she was first brought into Silver Bullets and introduced to the Silver Bullets co-pilot; Lieutenant Francis Montez.
The good-hearted Californian.
Called you five different nicknames before sticking with one.
Keeping the brave face on in front of the rest of the Silver Bullets crew after Captain Faulkner's death.
Especially when she'd been right next to her when it happened.
So, in shifting herself to the left side in her cot, yawning widely and letting out an overdramatic 'hmph' as she snuggled into her pillow, hearing a rather distressed and choked cry leave someone's lips sent her sitting straight up in her cot. The quick movement made her heart pound, a pressure building behind her eyes and the sudden realization, from a quick glance at her watch, that it was only 0400 with the moonlight still peaking through.
Marianne swiveled her head around the barracks, squinting in the darkness, attempting to seek out who it was. Truth be told, after losing Birdie, nightmares became a normal thing - and some nights, no one slept. It'd been a tense and uneasy atmosphere for nearly a week and with no new pilot, things were even more worrisome and weary.
The only person holding them together was co-pilot Francis Montez. And currently, she was the one breaking down. Marianne could tell because it came from the far corner of the bunk room, closest to the door. And Francis didn't ever let it on that inside she was hurting. It's probably what hurt Marianne the most to see.
At dinners and lunches and breakfast - Francis would be sat, that blank look in her eyes, that ache buried deep inside, barely eating and trying to laugh it off seconds later.
Slowly standing to her feet, and nearly tripping over Frank's little pillow on the ground that he'd taken to, she picked her way down the rows of the crew towards Francis.
Deep-down, she probably should've stayed in her cot, kept her mouth shut and let Francis deal with her emotions. But a sudden urge to protect her and hold Francis through a moment like this was all she wanted to do.
Marianne approached the outlined form on the cot, bathed in a sprinkle of moonlight and held her breath, debating if she should turn around now.
"Lieutenant Montez?" Marianne whispered, her voice causing Francis' form to freeze-up entirely, turning to look over her shoulder towards Marianne stood there, as if a ghost had appeared - Marianne almost choked out her words, "I just heard something and wanted to make sure you were okay and then I saw you were awake and-"
"Salinger." Francis said, voice slightly hoarse, silencing her rambling, "I'm fine. Just, some fucking nightmare. But, it's fine. I'm going out for a smoke anyway. Take the edge off." Marianne stood, cheeks heated red in the darkness, as Francis stood to her rather tall height and picked up her A2, throwing it on roughly, before grabbing her smokes' box and heading towards the door. Marianne's heart hammered in her chest before she wiped at her nose and cleared her throat.
"Need a buddy?" Oh, God, now how awkward do you sound? Francis turned and looked at Marianne and she balked. "Uh, need a buddy. Ma'am." Francis stared at her in the darkness and Marianne swore that she could've died on the spot if it was possible.
"Sure." Francis said and then turned to the door stepping outside. Marianne skittered to follow her out, slowly shutting the door behind herself and settling down on the stoop in front of the barracks beside Marianne.
Outside, with the moonlight, Marianne could get a better look at Francis' face and saw the dark circles under her eyes, the fading scar from the incident on that fateful day and the blankness of her eyes all at once. Her heart ached.
"Want one, Salinger?" Francis said, placing one on her own lip before offering the box. Marianne - resident and very adamant non-smoker in the group - stared at the box before looking at Francis again. Francis usually never offered because she knew Marianne didn't smoke, but Francis seemed on a whole different planet right now. And something made Marianne want to take one.
"Yes. Yes, ma'am." Marianne said, reaching forward to pluck one out of the box and place it on her own lip - the paper taste wasn't nice. Francis chuckled slightly.
"You don't have to keep calling me ma'am or….or Lieutenant. It's fine, seriously." Francis said, glancing at her, "Here." Francis leaned forward and gently lit the edge of Marianne's cigarette before leaning back to light her own. Marianne's warm cheeks failed to dissipate and she couldn't help but watch as Francis clicked the lighter closed and then popped the cigarette off her lip and blew out a drag of smoke. She didn't realize her staring until Francis looked to her and waved a hand.
"You there, Salinger?" It didn't take long for Marianne to blink herself out of it, before inhaling the cigarette chemicals too fast, breathing it in and hacking up a lung, loud and noisily, before gasping for breath, the cigarette forgotten between her fingers.
"Sorry," Marianne croaked out as Francis gently tapped her back, clearing her airways, "I don't smoke."
"I forgot about that," Francis said, sounding slightly defeated and guilty, "just not with it right now."
Marianne recovered her bearings and slight moment of embarrassment and looked to Francis sat beside her, staring out towards the airfield at night, planes silhouetted in darkness. It was an eerie feeling - knowing she had died on that plane, after getting up into it thinking there'd be many more times after. Knowing that cockpit would remain empty until the replacement showed up.
Knowing that plane was still sitting out there, soaked in that feeling, those memories, that moment.
"Probably because it's 4 am. And you need sleep." Marianne said quietly, looking over at the co-pilot, "Brain won't work and wire itself right without it."
"Can't sleep most nights anyway so," Francis said, popping the cigarette on her lip and clenching her jaw, "if I do, the nightmares come so, prefer not to if I can."
"Of Birdie?" Marianne asked. Francis grew quiet and continued staring out, blank-eyed. It grew quiet and Marianne wasn't going to push her - fresh in the mind, only four days ago - she almost regretted saying Birdie's name, but she knew Francis needed to get it into her mind what was going on. She needed to be able to talk instead of bottling it inside.
"Yeah." Francis said quietly, pulling the cigarette from her lip, "It replays in my mind. Every night since it's happened." Marianne watched as Francis looked towards her, tears in her eyes. She watched as Francis shook her head, biting back her lip and looking towards her again.
"It was our second mission. We just got out here. And….and she's already gone." Francis whispered quietly before looking out at the darkness again, "They won't allow us to fly until they've got someone new in here, and…I don't know, going up there again and she's not next to me. I….I don't know." Marianne glanced sidelong at Francis again and watched as the co-pilot reached up to angrily wipe at some tears in her eyes and sigh.
"I gotta get myself together - there's some pilot from San Diego coming in tomorrow anyway - Atchinson….something or other. I gotta…." Francis let a hand linger lightly over her body, a display of dissatisfaction on her force, "I know I won't go back to sleep so. Don't want to keep you awake. I'll be fine." Marianne watched Francis - did she actually think Marianne would leave her sit out here alone and suffer in silence? In the darkness?
"I can stay." Marianne said, her cheeks growing warm uncontrollably. Francis looked over at her, slightly surprised. Marianne stuttered. "I mean, I can stay and we can talk. So you're not alone. I don't mind. Mind being here with you. With…" Marianne watched as Francis looked towards her a small smile on her face, dark eyes watching Marianne with mirth.
"When in doubt, Mari Salinger's gonna make sure you're not alone," Francis said, her eyes never leaving Francis' as she reached out and gave her shoulder a squeeze, "thanks, Mari."
Marianne sat there, incredibly aware of the feel of Francis' hand on her shoulder, the warmth from the co-pilot's hand now infiltrating her body, along with the look in Francis' eyes that simply only watched Marianne in this endless darkness. It took a matter of seconds, but then Francis was pulling her hand back, unflinching, and removing her cigarette from her lips again and nodding to her.
Clearly, she wasn't unchanged, but Marianne felt like her entire world had shifted on its axis and suddenly, she wasn't sure if she knew how to breathe right or if her lungs were working.
"So, you hear anything about this Atchinson?" Francis asked her cooly, waving around her cigarette between her fingers and rubbing her temple, "You always got the scoop on this sorta stuff, so." Marianne cleared her throat and looked at Francis.
"I…I must say it's the first time that I really don't know much to anything about her. Just that's she's a pilot. From San Diego. Captain ranking I believe. Nothing more." Marianne said quietly with a shrug, focusing on a spot of dirt on the ground and attempting to pull herself together, "Say, Francis…what happens if this doesn't work out?" Francis glanced at her and raised a brow.
"Come again?" Marianne balked and cleared her throat.
"Atchinson. Uh, Captain Atchinson. What happens if the fit isn't….the right one?" Marianne asked her, "You heard Harding. He said 'We gotta make it the right fit.', the hell is that supposed to mean?" Francis watched her and offered her an upturn of a smile.
"They don't just want anyone up there, Salinger." Francis said to her with a nod, "Birdie was more qualified than any of us. Best of the best. And she hand-picked the group of us. Now. We're down our command pilot and the spot's vacant. They're not just throwing names in a hat and picking out the first piece of paper they touch." Francis smirked.
"Which, I'll give 'em credit, they're looking out for us," Francis said and Marianne's cheeks warmed as Francis smirked at her wider this time, "but that don't mean much, I gotta say. Until that replacement's in the sky with us, until you really know what they're like….I don't know. May not know the right fit until they come back after a mission and know what it's really like." Marianne slowly nodded and glanced back at Francis.
"You think Atchinson's gonna work out?" Marianne asked her, her mind thinking, if Birdie were here tomorrow, to meet her, would she like her? Francis shrugged.
"You can only hope," Francis said quietly, "I don't know though." Francis sighed and scratched at the back of her head for a moment, her dark hair tied into a bun that rested gently on her neck, where the scars of that final flight for Birdie had occurred. They both fell quiet, Francis smoking her cigarette, Marianne trying to get a wrangle on her head and her heart.
"Hey, Francis?" Marianne asked quietly, watching as the co-pilot turned to look towards her. Francis' eyes were always dark and consumed with something no one could ever quite distinguish, but for the first time in what seemed like a while, they were clear and quiet. That chaos, that storm inside was calmed for once.
"What's up?" Francis asked her, as Marianne watched her.
"If you ever need to talk to someone in the future, whatever it is, I'm here. We all here." Marianne said quietly, tapping her fingers against her up-bent knees against her chest on the stoop, the warm night breeze running over her bare legs, "We all lost Birdie." Francis watched Marianne and slowly nodded, tears forming in her gaze. It was those few seconds in between recognition and having a breakdown that Marianne caught as Francis squeezed her eyes shut and bit back her quivering lip.
"I just don't want you all to think this is it for Silver Bullets, for all of us," Francis whispered quietly, her voice breaking, "that without Birdie, we're done for. We all worked to get here, you know. We all deserve to be here, sticking out necks out, dealing with all the shit from everyone else. We're all here because we earned it. And I just….I don't want to show that in front of everyone. That it fucking sucks trying to keep it together, trying to cooperate with a replacement that won't ever be like Birdie. Knowing Birdie won't be coming back." Marianne watched her, tears welling in her own eyes. Her throat tightened as she tried to speak.
"You're not alone, Francis," Marianne said quietly, "Birdie's always gonna be up there, alright? Watching over us." Marianne pointed to the sky. Francis managed a stifled cry and wiped at her tears and sighed.
"I know." Francis whispered.
"Birdie would want us to keep going, too," Marianne said quietly, "remember when Birdie told Judy that one time about how years from now, when people think about this war, our names are gonna be apart of that. Silver Bullets is, too. Even if there's a replacement. Birdie's name is gonna be sticking in that, too. She'll always be here."
Marianne wasn't sure what happened, but in a span of a few seconds, Francis had scooted over and wrapped Marianne in a hug, holding her close, a few silent trembling cries somewhere near her right ear.
Slowly, Marianne wrapped her arms around Francis, holding her there, and letting her feel those emotions for a moment where the only thing watching was the cloudy moon. Francis wasn't a heavily emotional person, so when she pulled back after 30 seconds, Marianne wasn't surprised that she was clearing up and nodding herself back to life.
"Sorry, Mari," Francis said, patting her arm and sighing, "just, thanks for that. Just needed to hear it from someone else, ya know?" Marianne nodded with a small smile, for the first time seeing their co-pilot come a bit more to life, especially in the past week more than anything.
"We're always here." Marianne said, with a small smile, "We are a 10-woman crew. Not a 1-man." Francis chuckled wetly, wiping a few more tears from her eyes as she smiled again.
"I know it's barely 5 am, but they might have coffee out. Wanna join me?" Marianne watched Francis and it only took about a millisecond for her brain to respond.
"Of course." Marianne said with a smile, following Francis to the mess hall for a cup of coffee. A cup of coffee at 5 am to ponder the horrors of the week was all one needed to ready themselves for another day, another mission, another breath of air. It's all Francis needed and something Marianne needed to. It's what they all needed.

director's commentary ask! i wanna know more about your aldnoah au!! <3
helloooo mint my beloved
this is a bit long so. here we go
for the aldnoah au - think it first started off when i was rewatched a few mecha animes i liked when i was younger and i immediately thought of aldnoah afterwards. like the premise of it is so interesting - in an alternate universe, humans have made a home out of mars and now there's two factions, the people who live on earth vs the people who formerly were from earth but now live on mars...
in my head, princess asseylum -> charles, inaho -> seb, but i also wanted to build on that universe and not kind of just stick them into those roles....
crown prince charles as the solitary ruler of his nation, the Exalted - he's about the same age as seb in this (both in their early-mid 20s) but he's had to take on so much responsibility at a young age. the war's been going on for longer than he's been alive but he's been tasked with seeking the end of it, finally establishing peace between mars and earth (although rumors have been circulating that the Vers royal cabinet do not approve of his decision) he's a bit lonely, with the isolation of his empire and having to shoulder the entire responsibility of a planet on his own - but he doesn't really allow that to show.
His gaze keeps finding the Exalted, no matter how hard he tries to look away—completely mesmerized by what he’s seeing. He looks far too young to be a political leader, let alone the sole ruler of one of the powerful empires in the known galaxy. Somehow, that makes Seb frown—just what had really happened in those forty years to make someone so youthful become the symbol of unyielding power, pride? And yet, he carries himself quietly, as if he had seen all the universe had to offer him in his short while in the mortal realm—his presence demanding reverence without even having to say a word. The mark of true nobility.
and then you have seb, a fighter pilot and fia special agent. recruited into the air force and then into the special forces before he turned 19 and he's been making waves ever since. all he knows is piloting frames (mechas) and he prefers keeping it that way. he's cheeky, kind of the opposite of charles in that regard. also being sent on a diplomatic mission to another planet was definitely not anywhere on his bucket list.
His reflection glances back at him on the glazed glass—his mirror twin looking uncomfortably stuffed into his dress uniform and with medals messily pinned to the chest as the Martian desert pans out in front of him—nothing but orange skies and sand for miles and miles. He definitely isn’t used to being on Mars—hell, he’s never even been here before, let alone standing in a lavish guest room on a planet that isn’t blue and green with actual breathable oxygen the moment he steps outside—not even for a brief goodwill visit on behalf of the FIA. A sudden knock at his door tears his gaze away from himself—and he goes to open it, only to find one Lewis Hamilton standing there—tapping his foot impatiently. He’s dressed just like him—in full, fancy military garb, the ones they only bring out of the closet when a superior officer happens to visit or someone’s gone and died in a tragic and heroic fashion. Neither happen to exactly be particularly exciting occasions, he thinks.
they both share a lot of responsibility, both seb and charles - because, PARALLELS. but at the same time i wanted there to be subtle differences in the way their environment affects them - charles shown mostly in isolation, detached, vs. seb with lewis, the camaraderie between the two.
like they come from completely different worlds (in both meanings) and yet they share a similar kind of narrative and goal in seeking peace. while they might not exactly hit it off initially (even being a bit antagonistic), literally my favorite thing about them in this universe is that they push each other to become better. like they are devoted to each other and the cause and i just have a lot of feelings about that

Description:
Relive six decades of flying helicopters including an extended tour in Vietnam and the mountains of Afghanistan, with a little Iraq, Kuwait, and National Guard thrown in. This is Minuteman: Two, Three… Go! recounts Wayne Chasson’s times, from the early, young, and dumb days to a more seasoned pilot of Huey and other helicopters in three American wars and the National Guard here at home. From the tragic to the ridiculous, it’s all here in refreshing candor and lifelike detail, and told in the voice of the author. Chasson relives it all for us in this gritty and honest memoir—with humility, humor, and gratitude—as he himself is still trying to figure out how he made it through alive.
Review: It was a decent book, a quick read that really is more of his look back on things. It gives you some good stories, some good anecdotes, and it’s semi-polished enough to give it readability and flow. It won’t give you the same experience as Chickenhawk or others in the same genre, but it will give those who know him - family and friends and such - a good insight into what he wants them to know about his time in Vietnam, and later Iraq and Afghanistan.
