i don't remember who i got the idea about this from but i just thought of someone who wasn't like too older to the reader yet in a powerful and manipulative position.

also i wrote this back in july lolol someone give me back my ability to write or else i'm doomer completely

this is very very rough but it’s hard to say if i’ll ever write this whole thing, but let’s talk about something.

no warnings except typical yandere content, mentions of drugging and manipulation. don't ask me the word count but this is just a short thing that just popped into my head at one point.

yandere coworker, who’s in love with as soon as you stepped in the office as a new recruit but love at first sight is cheesy, so he dismissed it as some casual admiration. but when his boss calls him to his office and asks him to teach you the ropes of the job, he’s internally screaming on how something like this is literally a sign from god himself.

and he talks to you, jokes around because he can see you’re nervous but there’s no need to be nervous, darling. (it’s all in fun and games that he’s calling you that, obviously) because you’re more than capable of doing it, it’s not a very hard job and even if you do mess up, there’s no reason to worry because he’s one of the seniors here, and he’s going to excuse it no matter how bad it is. (doesn’t tell you the whole part, just that he’d manage if you made a mistake. it’s okay, darling. everybody makes mistakes, even he did)

yandere coworker who is more than thrilled to find out you’re great at your job!!! (kinda disappointed tbh that he doesn’t get to coo over you making a mistake and then using it to get an upper hand 😔 but it’s okay there’s going to be plenty of opportunities he’s sure of it)

he takes you out to dinner for doing such a great job!! you’re truly one of the most efficient workers in the office and this, in just under a month! isn’t that wonderful? his darling is so intelligent! but as you talk to him over dinner, it opens a side of an informal relationship with your coworker, you both have inside jokes that you can remind each other of, even during the weekend and which gradually turns into hang outs with just the two of you and you insist on the fact that you both are “just friends” to your own friends, who obviously don’t buy it. but you feel guilty about it because your coworker has been nothing but nice and respectful and maintained his boundaries with you, he doesn’t even feel that way about you!

the turn of events come in the form of a new guy, an intern that you’re required to train and you’re more than happy to because it’s something that your coworkers didn’t get an opportunity on, even with their years of working with the company and you landed in about 6 months. ofcourse it’s your hard work but it’s also something our yandere coworker helped in, put in a good word about you. made sure you got the job and the increase in pay that came with it.

but god, oh god, how he wishes so bad that he’d thought it through as he walks around the office (instead of sitting in his comfy cabin. oh, the things jealousy makes you do) in the echoes of your laughter as the intern makes you laugh. what did he say that was so funny? and why weren’t you working? did you lose your professionalism for this guy? this guy who hadn’t even been here for a day? pathetic. he did not expect his darling to do that.

after about 3-4 days, he can’t physically take it anymore, he has to do something about it. now he knows he can’t say anything to the intern or else he’ll get scared or something. so he calls you in his cabin.

“all the other staff is complaining about your and the intern's disturbance, my dear, please keep it low. and maintain professionalism, okay?” you nod your head. he had never talked to you like this before and it took you a little back that the people you called friends had been backbitching about you? because you had been nothing but nice to everyone around. but you nodded, you thought you might have been stepping over the line. but what you didn’t know is that none of the coworkers had even noticed, they were doing their own job, so tangled up in their stress and why would they rat out one of their own?

you minimise contact with the intern as soon as he knows what to do and keep it to a subtle wave for a “hi,” and “goodnight,” he notices but he thinks that you were being nice to him in the initial days as a way of welcome and he’d heard so many horror stories about coworkers not being nice to each other that the fact that you weren’t at least bullying him made him thankful.

your office friends try and invite you to dinners and karaoke afterwards but you just can’t bring yourself to go because you were already so reserved and closed off but then you find that the people you actually trusted had been complaining about you made it difficult to pretend that it was all okay. because it had been just them for you as friends, since you spent majority of your time with them.

so nowadays it was just walking home early, ordering some food, watching something and then heading to sleep. which was perfectly alright for you, you didn’t need the hangovers that came with drinking on weekdays. and on the weekends.... it got hard but there was music, there were books to read, it kept you busy.

that’s when he texted you.

your yandere coworker was around your flat, could he come over.......? his formal and passive aggressive tone still repeated in your mind, but it wasn’t his fault. he had to do his job. so you gave him a green signal. “yes, sure,” and deep down you’d been craving company so much.

when while talking how he mentions how he doesn't have an instagram account yet, (and he needs one to stalk you btw) you just laughed and he made a joke on his age, it wasn't his fault he was not up with the trends. you offered to help him set it up and show him the ropes. and as you do that, set up a username, find some accounts of interest that he might like, he finds your adorable features all focused so cute!! and you're doing it for him so he gets up and decides to get you something to eat from the shop downstairs!!

but, um, this was really careless on the yanderes part because. how the fuck do you leave your phone w someone else? and when you have an entire album full of photos of that someone else which aren't even taken from the ones you've posted but its a photo of you from one of your work gatherings which you don't even remember this guy attending! and so many photos from the same angle after that, from his cabin to your cubicle...

being a boomer really sucks because this would not be a problem for me i know of a thing called a secure folder so !!! <3

but yes, back to it, when he rings the bell, you panic, you can't not open the door, right? and even if he had been clicking those pictures or whatever, he hadn't proved harmless yet. and what if its just a crush he's clicking pictures of. sometimes people did that. it was normal, wasn’t it?

the yandere might be delusional but you give him a run for his money if your job was having delusions !!!

but as soon as he goes home that night and looks at the tabs opened on his phone (he‘s not that much of a boomer that he won‘t know what recent tabs are) he's scared and when he connects the dots to your offputting but not so much that he would actually suspect it behaviour. it made sense. he sat down for a bit - beating up his table and running his hands through his hair, how could he have been so careless?

he realizes with a sigh that he needs to work quickly now, if he ever wants to have a chance with you. it's now or never. and yandere coworker is anything but someone who backs down from a challenge.

so what he's going to do is simple, he's going to invite you over, preferably in the next 2-3 days to try out this new recipe, and he's gonna knock you out then, (he's sorry it has to be that way) and as for the rest he's quite confident he can make you fall in love with him quite easily!

anyway, contrary to popular belief, Antonio is actually my favorite RP character. just in general. and i've never actually seen him live until the other day. unbeknownst to me, i was waiting for a whole year to be able to actually see him live, i think i was more excited about it than cc!anthony was 💀

which might contribute to my love for him bc i had to piece him together like a puzzle from everyone else's POVs and clips n stuff. so at first i didn't want him to come back bc i was afraid he'd be different from the Antonio i made up in my head... but then. i haven't sat n watched, at mostly full attention, a whole stream for 7 hours in a while LOL

when i watched cc!buddha's rdrp vods a year ago n saw Antonio, i thought to myself "oh no... Tony isn't actually my new muse is he...?". and for a while i didn't draw him bc i didn't have any ideas + i didn't really know how to draw him. but i did know that when i did learn how to draw him, it'd be over for me (i wouldn't want to draw anyone else, and i was right oops 😭)

my idea of Antonio is he's just a dumb, impulsive, silly little theatre kid that got wrapped up in being an outlaw bc of Wu n Dot after his house burned down. they woulda been moving around in old box cars wherever the trains took them. Dot dies before the events of WildRP(headcanon), and Wu to me, is the autistic kid that follows Antonio around bc he talks a lot n has charisma lolol. also, to me, Wu is not as evil as he was intended to be, he just follows in Sonny's footsteps who's calculated n violent. While Antonio chooses Cesare's path to be more diplomatic and focuses more on his reputation. Antonio can't win a fight to save his life, and i love him for it. he thinks he's scary n dangerous, but to me, he couldn't hurt a fly hehe. i mean, one of the first things he did in the crossing was host a talent show at the local theatre. i'm a big fan of pathetic men, what can i say.

speaking of, i love how pathetically in love he is with Renni. and i love how, despite how much they like each other, they never actually get together n still respect each other as friends. they are the embodiment of the saying "if you love something let it go, if it comes back its yours" but without the last part.. they are so tragic to me.

in the last 3.5 years of watching rp, i've never had any character or character dynamic make me cry. like, as much as i love how doomed n toxic Donnie/Lang is, i've teared up a bit, but they've never made me cry just thinking about them. but Antonio, n by extension, his relationship with Renni, has made me cry multiple times just thinking about them 😭 and yeah, i cried the other day when Antonio was thinking about Renni LOL

idk why he's the character that changes my brain chemistry, but uh. he is. i've literally never rambled about a character so much online, sorry for the great wall of text bc of it.. i'm usually masking so hard a lot of the time, but i've been wanting to talk about Antonio for so long with no one to yap to so, yknow.. he gets me to unmask and i also love him for that :']

OOO for the death note ask game, turning this back on you. 4, 7, and 23, again though you can pick a current favorite moment (lolol. indecision makers 😔😔) or just gimme some general misa thoughts if you’ve got em 👀

4. who’s your favorite underrated or obscure character? Okay, I'm gonna do my best to pick one that isn't too obvious, so: Sidoh! Haha. He's a weird little loser guy of a Shinigami and I love that. When he takes the notebook and touches it to the head of the one mafia guy while saying, "tag, you're it!"... or when he gets freaked out by Mello even though he himself is a literal god of death... I just find it very delightful. He's silly and pathetic in a way that really tickles my fancy lol. (The anime is much fresher in my mind so most of what I refer to will be anime-focussed; can't remember how manga version compares to anime with him). 7. was misa just as guilty as light? Ooh, guilt in relation to Misa and Light is interesting to think about. On the one hand, I do think that they're both culpable for their actions at the end of the day. I have maybe some more grace to extend Misa in terms of her having an understandable reason to go down that path, what with her parents being murdered (and almost being murdered herself). Like, that's a level of trauma that makes you go, 'yeah, I can understand why she was all-in on killing criminals with the death note, even if I don't agree.' Light, on the other hand, had this good, stable, pretty privileged home life, in addition to him being a top student, talented, handsome, etc. He's got less of an excuse, you know? The fact that Misa's drawn to Kira's ideals out of lived trauma, whereas Light is drawn to those ideals largely out of ego is sort of a meaningful distinction. (By ego I don't just mean the belief that he's exceptional, but I mean -- the way he is so desperately driven to protect his conception of himself as a Good Person. That's a tragic and heart-rending manifestation of ego, but it's still about protecting his ego). But I also think there's 'guilt' on the level of the actions and choices you make regardless of motivations, and I'd see them as more equal on that front. Misa was an enthusiastic DN user and participant in Kira's plans/ideology. She's motivated by different things than he is, but she makes her choices knowingly. I think it would be diminishing of her agency and complexity to say that she's less responsible for her actions than Light is, if that makes sense. (Also, there are things Misa is guilty of that Light isn't, and vice versa. E.g., Misa pushes Light's boundaries in a way that can be very uncomfortable; Light uses Misa/others without real regard for them).

Now, beyond all that... the question is obviously about their culpability for their use of the DN. But it also makes me think about each of their *experiences* of guilt internally, and that might be even more interesting to me. I think that their relationship to guilt is one of the things that makes them so divergent from one another. Because... running away from guilt is such a huge part of what propels Light to go all out with the Kira thing. So much of his psyche is shaped around that black pit of guilt where whispers of "I did a bad thing. If I did a bad thing I'm not a good person" come from. He diligently tries to cover over that and barricade it off. He crafts an ideology that makes his murders righteous, and commits to making a New World(tm) where the meaning of 'good/right' is reshaped around that. He makes himself a God so that his actions are beyond judgment, or at least he is, because his murders are divine - they're acts of creation, even of love and self-sacrifice. And then Misa... well, guilt doesn't seem to be as obvious a factor for her, whether as motivation or reaction. I mean, I could imagine a reading where there's some well of underlying guilt about the death of her parents and her survival -- I think that would make sense given the circumstances. But... we never actually see that kind of Bruce Wayne -esque psychology peeking through, so that feels more like headcanon territory than direct analysis. Obviously she has deep feelings about the murder of her parents, but she has a very different relationship to guilt than Light. She usually comes across as very free from guilt. She knows what she wants and what her priorities are, and she pursues those without shame. She's impressed by Kira so she becomes the second Kira; she decides she loves Light and wants to be with him regardless of whether he even likes her, so she pursues that undeterred by his response to her. It feels like Misa is always calmly pushing forward toward what she wants, whereas Light's sprint forward towards his New World is really a running-away-from. But at the same time... what kind of underlying emptiness would make someone so completely devotional in the way Misa is, wanting to devote themselves to someone who mostly loathes them, to the point of not even seeming to be hurt by that person's disdain for them as long as they can still have that person in their life? I think there's definitely beneath-the-surface stuff with Misa, but it comes across like guilt is a colour that just doesn't exist in her world. Whereas with Light, every shadow in his world is the colour of guilt. If goodness or righteousness are the rays of the sun, Light Yagami is the moon that reflects the sunlight while trying to create a reality in which those rays are his -- are him -- a reality in which he becomes the sun. And yet he's a moon, and the dark side of it that he disavows is guilt, is 'I did a bad thing', is 'what if I'm not a good boy?' (Wow, went overboard with the metaphors there but too lazy to edit lol). 23. what was your favorite moment and why? Ah, this is hard (guess it's my fault for asking you this one first haha). I'll try to pick 1 or 2 more serious moments and 1 or 2 silly ones lol. So, serious ones:

The warehouse/Light's downfall. Specifically the laughter, if I had to pick a moment. Excellent scene in both the manga and anime, but MY GOD I will never get over the sound of his laugh in the anime. I think about it every day. (Also looove the lip-twitching as he barely contains his deranged glee leading up to his "I win"). I also really like his death in both; his fear, being reduced back down to his humanity, in the most pathetic way. But the laugh moment wins out for me; the way everything that has been pent up, repressed, held back, filtered, pruned is just... unleashed. He's finally showing his real human emotion to other people in this unrestrained way, but it's so twisted as to be monstrous.

Also, the moment when L says Light is his first real friend. I know that Ohba said L is lying in that moment, but my own analytical framework doesn't prioritize authorial intention above all else. And I think there is so much complexity and richness in that moment. I don't think L is lying, but he is manipulating. And obviously even the truth within the statement is a complicated one. But I can't help but see a genuine sort of sweetness in there in that moment, amidst the mind games and adversarial context. Light and Ryuk's reactions in that moment are so excellent too. It feels like a moment where the world stops spinning, just for a microsecond. A moment where some alternate reality almost touches this one.

Silly ones (time for my sweet Matsuda to shine lol):

When L and Light are fighting during the 'date' with Misa and Matsuda calls the room to break it up, telling L some news about Misa's popularity. Then after L hangs up he's like, "Matsuda's acting stupid again." And Light is like, "well, that is his speciality." (The fact that belittling Matsuda actually does diffuse their fight LOL). And Matsuda is on the other end, his face dropping, like, "do they know we can hear them..?" haha. Just a perfect Matsuda/Light/L moment.

OBVIOUSLY the whole mattress gambit too lol

In the anime, when L reveals to the task force that he's actually all three of the world's top detectives, he says something like, "here, I'll give you this strawberry for keeping my secret." And then he holds out the strawberry he plucked from his cake and Mogi kind of vacantly takes it and puts it in his pocket LOL

♡ i can see erik being very very very emotional when it comes to you and your love for him, he just never feels worthy of it so when you speak so highly of him and tell him how much you love him? how much your life has changed for the better since he entered it? it gets him, he just crumbles in your arms as you whisper soft adoration and comforting words down towards him, gently brushing his hair with your fingers as he sobs

This question was a tough one for me because I'm a bit of a pathetic little worm sometimes about my fic and although it will never stop me writing and posting, I don't often feel that proud of my creations...it's more of an 'OH GOD DON'T LOOK AT IT JUST SLIDE IT INTO THAT DARK CORNER AND THEN RUN AWAY AND PRETEND YOU DIDN'T POST ANYTHING AT ALL' situation. HAVING SAID THAT, I think my 2023 Erised is what I'm the happiest with (Nothing Gold Can Stay). It's also the last thing I've posted! I have some kind of deep connection with that one and the amazing @sits-bound did a fan binding of it and sent it to me and honestly I was so moved that I well up anytime I think of it lol and I've said more than once that I want that in the box with me when the lower me into the ground lolol.

In terms of upcoming works, I have something stupid like 16 wips including a sequel to the aforementioned Erised and a gift fic for @sits-bound as a meagre thank you for the absolute dream of the binding...but this year has been a bastard health-wise and so I've been very deliberately taking it slow and not signing up to a single fest (restraint!). Up today, s5e7: The Curious Case of Dean Winchester.

Bobby makes a bid to join Sam and Dean’s League of Extraordinary Idjits by playing a supernatural card game with a devilishly handsome magic man, in which the stakes are years of your life instead of money. He loses, because of course he does. And then Dean rushes off to try to win back Bobby’s years. And loses. Because of course he does. So Dean walks out of the game an old man, and the three of them start scrambling to figure out how to beat Hottie McCardshark. (Folks, this dude is ATTRACTIVE.) And then Sammy, who has been feeling that Dean is treating him like a little kid - you guessed it - plays to save Dean. No one seems to think he can do it, but of course he pulls through with an impressive bluff. Amongst all the card playing, there’s a sweet and sad little story about the cardshark’s wife being unhappy with their everlasting lot, and a not-so-sweet side bit with Bobby being ableist and sexist.

Could I request a oneshot of where it's set during shoko,geto n gojo's highschool time and it really doesn't have to be a character x reader but reader is their classmate and basically they're having a volleyball match with the opponent school but reader doesn't want to play bcs she goes "nah im too pretty to sweat in this terribly hot weather so count me out" sassily even tho she's really good at athletics n combat but then this annoying player of the opponent team plays dirty and hurts one of member of his opponent team ( mean shoko's highschool team bcs there are students of other classes playing ) n the one who played dirty makes annoyingly cocky for gaining a point which annoys the reader so she's goes aight time to humble this pathetic loser and starts playing in exchange of the injured player and does same thing to him which he did to injured player but she does it in a way that makes it seem it's totally his fault to play badly n they lose a point n basically reader practically all by herself obliterates ( not literally ) the opponent team and win by quite a considerable which leaves everyone shocked bcs they didn't know she was this good and when they ask how she's like she just wanted to have a little fun lolol.

Aiming at that girl again.

The ball hit her in the middle of the face.

Soon there was blood from her nose.

Revenge for Shoko!

Of course, you weren't accused of doing it on purpose.

The ball often hits players.

The girl left the field crying.

You started to be very ahead of your opponents in the number of points.

Until at the end, there was no chance that they could defeat you.

Your game caused many people to believe their eyes.

You did it because you were bored sitting on the bench anyway.

You could have had fun, and also avenged your friend's poor nose.

12. What have you found to be most difficult about creating art for your OC?

Honestly this sounds bad but . probably keeping the art within acceptable limits JKLHFDKLGJHF because I focus on the colonial era which has a lot of heavy baggage, not only because it’s the colonial era but also because it’s associated with WW2 and the axis, I’ve had to go back and forth on what would be acceptable to depict - of course there are plenty of things that I know clearly aren’t acceptable and wouldn’t dream of depicting, but there are other things that fall on the line I feel. An example is the eyepatch he wore in that era, it was designed with the colours of the Manchukuo flag because I wanted to incorporate the colours into his design and felt it was fitting since it was a gift he got from Japan, but early on I waffled back and forth on whether or not depicting the flag at all was acceptable or in bad taste… if you look back at some early art the eyepatch is totally one colour but recently I’ve started drawing it like intended. In general I feel I’ve started to be looser with boundaries that in the past I would have kept within for the sake of optics… after all, I think my art is clearly not intended as glorification, and history is history.

16. What is something about your OC that can make you cry?

JKLFHDGLKFH OH MAN… I mean, not so much about my OC than about history itself… since I tie my personifications so closely to history and reality, naturally I feel strongly about many things to do with him. Something a little less personal though, I think the gap between his early years and later years is really painful… There was a sort of resilience and hardy will to survive that she had as a little Jurchen girl that I think was lost over the course of the powerful Qing, which is quite regretful. In general though, beneath all the serious commentary and art is satire: for all his tragic backstory Manchuria is meant to be a comedic character and a vessel for jokes, so I don’t exactly spend much time crying over him lolol

18. What is the most recent thing you’ve discovered about your OC?

That his eye has healed up nicely in modern day… I hadn’t put much thought into it before but now it’s confirmed. I think his eye healing up in modern day is a nice gesture to how broken the Manchukuo era was, where his eye could have healed but didn’t. I think a lot of people (in the small niche of people who know Manchukuo exists) are too stuck on the colonial propaganda and fast developments and lives of the settlers and even the war effort and more ghoulish parts of the colonial regime, but for the average citizen’s mundane daily life, it was still a brutal time filled with poverty and economic strife and mass crime… My intention in my art and characterization of the Manchuria of that time is to highlight the gap between propaganda and reality, intention and action, settler class and colonized, etc. Because Manchukuo was a pseudo-country pseudo-colony filled with lies, ambivalence, contradiction, ambition, and suffering, I want to capture that gap within the Mr Manchuria of the time, and highlight how colonialism lies and turns itself into something greater and more lofty than it is within the collective memory. Within my art, I want to remember Manchukuo as the pathetic and tragic lie that it was.

WEIRDLY SPECIFIC BUT HELPFUL CHARACTER BUILDING QUESTIONS

3. How often do they show their genuine emotions to others versus just the audience knowing?

whatchu mean he's always genuine

i would say aury doesn't "hide" emotions as much as he "reserves judgment." he's very open about what he thinks and feels and will tell you to your face about it, but if he has some respect for you, he can rein those opinions in.

granted, sometimes even if he does respect you he doesn't see the need to spare you his thoughts so you get them anyways, for free!!

what he tends to hide are intentions, but there's very little reason to fake an emotion because he experiences most of them too mildly for it to be an issue. even when he's irritated/angry and trying to hold it in, the signs are pretty obvious that he's pissed.

so again, in this aspect he's actually very honest?? lolol

5. Can they cry on command? If so, what do they think about to make it happen?

no, but i imagine he'd be very handsome doing it.

he can fake cry to elicit pity from klaus, which he finds great fun. there are rarely any actual tears, though.

practically speaking, maybe the easiest way to make this happen is for aury to throw sand into his eyes on purpose.

9. Do they give tough love or gentle love most often? Which do they prefer to receive?

if he gives you "tough love" that's not love anymore, it's just mild hate hahaha

his "gentle love" (read: favored attention) is the kind of nudge and poke that leads you and guides you but never truly touches you; it embodies his role as an angel watching over lesser beings, supportive but also aloof.

on the flip side you can't tough love him that just makes him bitter and resistant. you have to coddle him like a brat and maybe flatter him to high heaven to make him happy but that also depends on whether he even likes you in the first place. if he scorns you then you're just going to end up wasting your time looking pathetic.

if your name is anghelescu ALIAS klaus avenue you can treat him however you'd like and he'll still think you're the best thing ever lucky you. aury's affection for klaus is also neither tough nor gentle, but something more insistent, demanding, and intense; it's possible that if it was anyone but klaus on the receiving end they might crack under the constant sense of pressure he emits.

ARC Review of An Earl to Remember by Stacy Reid

Summary:

After being stiffed and nearly seduced by Daniel, the Earl of Stannis, Georgianna is shocked to see the same man wash up ashore in her small town, claiming not to remember who he is.... except he does remember Georgianna. To save her reputation and extract her revenge, she claims they're married and subjects Daniel to labor around her home and farm, all while slowly falling for him.

My review:

First off let me say, I appreciate that Stacy Reid made Daniel an unrepentant rake. You see the word thrown around a lot in historical romances, but very few HR heroes are actual rakes. Daniel here however has quite the reputation ("I heard he got three women pregnant from kissing alone!" one 21 year old said in a splendid imitation of me pre-5th grade health): He's getting ready for a foursome when Georgianna accidentally walks in on him naked, has no qualms about seducing The Help (though it is a bit ham-handed of him to immediately ask Georgianna if she likes being chased lolol), and perhaps most importantly, has no issues asking Georgianna to be his mistress RIGHT AFTER he announces he will marry a more appropriate woman. I'll admit, a lot of what made Daniel an enjoyable hero for me is a) his natural sex appeal even when he was pretty pathetic and b) his more "problematic" behavior.

I'm equally appreciative of Stacy Reid making the heroine Georgianna problematic in her own way; the premise that she took advantage of an amnesiac and made him do farm labor definitely qualifies in my opinion (it also reminded me of the plot of Once More, My Darling Rogue by Lorraine Heath). And sure, I did sympathize with her because she was stiffed by the earl (though there's a careful distinction that's made in that the earl's vengeful mistress had a hand in this... but why Daniel believes her to begin with is questionable imo), because of her family's financial situation, and her inability to make her catering dreams realized while still being seen as "respectable". But ultimately, Georgianna did a questionable thing. Did this detract from me liking her as a heroine? Nope.

A lot of the plot is mostly character-driven: Georgianna feels guilty about her actions even as she's very attracted to Daniel, and Daniel experiences character growth via farm work and being around Georgianna's sisters, all while struggling to regain his memory. Things pick up in the last quarter once Daniel regains his memory, which interestingly, happens earlier than I thought it would. I actually think this made the plot more compelling (especially since Daniel's not done making questionable decisions regarding Georgianna; see: their "you'll be my little village wife" era).

The sex:

Daniel gives classic rake sex; For me, this means well-written sex scenes with a decent amount of dirty talk, with nothing extremely unique or out there in terms of sex. He has this sensual presence and he's very persistent, particularly when Georgianna is perpetually waffling between guilt and attraction. Here's what worked for me:

a) Daniel's general confusion about how him and Georgianna haven't had sex if they're married. Like, this is a man who wakes up after being knocked out by the sea and the FIRST words out of his mouth when he sees Georgianna are "I've tasted you". He may have forgotten who he was, but he knows in his bones that he's a slutty slutty man and therefore, how has he not... fucked his own wife? Right?

b) Daniel has what initially seemed like amnesia-induced headaches except he realizes they happen a lot when he's hard so..... they're horny headaches? blue ball headaches? I don't know but I found that hilarious.

c) The inexplicable (yet somehow inevitable) wife kink Daniel develops, to the point where he's rejected any idea of marriage in his and Georgianna's future, but he's STILL calling her his wife while they fuck and Georgianna is totally down.

Overall:

I enjoyed An Earl to Remember for the most part. Stacy Reid did a solid job with the main characters Daniel and Georgianna, who did a lot for me in terms of bringing the drama, and I'd overall recommend the book.

this absolutely IS shinso and it's gonna drive me insane to think about LOL, the way not even his closest friends know how deep he is into his lil crush.

and about the blocking ... YEAH. like i just wish i knew the reason, so at least i wouldn't have to wonder if i ... hurt someone unintentionally. ofc i stand by a lot of my decisions / actions too so maybe it's totally justified... but still.

and there ended up being a third person who blocked me recently too, which just made me even more DAM!!! (even tho i'll be fine in the end).
