Which of your beloved men do you think has the greatest potential of actually annoying you the longer you are together?
Oh, Eva. This is a good question. Because I get annoyed with people so easily sometimes, but a big issue is, the longer we’re together, the more I force myself to deal with it 😅 so, it’s an issue, but I think there are a few options. So I’m gonna rank them from most annoying to least:
Lloyd: What a fucking know it all bitch. I bet you every. single. thing. that I do would have some sort of correction, but he believes he walks on water. Probably mansplains. Won’t take no for an answer, never gives up, which could be admirable, but he wants it to go his way. Everything is manipulated to serve him and I’d lose myself as I grow resentment.
Ransom: Unconsciously selfish and totally alright with it. Never willing to learn something outside his worldview. People have other experiences!! And guess what, buddy, you can survive on less money than you do. The mix of wealth and closed-mindedness would be terrible, bc why have all that you do and not use it to broaden your horizons some. And I mean as a learner, someone who experiences things, not necessarily a patron or observer like everyone else is a museum piece.
Andy: Definitely discounts my feelings. Huge victim of confirmation bias and I just can’t live with that sort of dismissal for my very valuable opinions.
Steve: Altruistic to a fault at the expense of me. But also just do goddamn admirable and respected, it kinda makes me jealous. That’s on me. People would probably think I’m lucky I’m with him and fail to see all I do and it would drive me nuts. And then he would just brush it off and I would hate that I have to work 10x harder to even get a tenth of the credit he does. I don’t think he would ever get it…
Ari: So caught up in helping others that there’s no time for me, but it’s not as bad as Steve because I think Ari would listen when I said I felt I wasn’t listened to, and then would switch up.
Jake: probably misreads the room here and there but is receptive to criticism. Gone a lot which leads to fights and he just walks away instead of confronting it.
Curtis is a shelter guard dog angel😌

PoliZ’s WIP Update -  13 Dec 2023
A  productive writing week that brings me within  about 2000 words of breaking 120k for the year!   I touched  5 fics (4 new works & 1 WIP)  for a total of  2488 words.
On Ao3, I posted:
WinterIron Bingo Round Robin - December 2023 - a bit of WI holiday fluff featuring Christmas tree decorating and Miss Morgan.
Beta Testing -  A No Powers omegaverse WinterIron getting together fic with Alpha!Tony and beta!Bucky.
Cutting the Strings - Tony sticks up for Bucky when he thinks Steve is being a bit overbearing.
On Tumblr I posted:
Fool Me Once -  Winteriron sickfic with Tony being a bit sneaky.
I have 17 semi-active WIPs  😬 with my  current  deadlines being  the WinterIron Bingo which wraps on 16 Dec and Stucky’Verse Bingo which wraps on 22 Dec.
See  below cut for what I’m working on/planning to work on - arranged more or less by bingos/challenges/etc.  As always, feel free to send me   prompts or plot bunnies as well as asks regarding  any of these projects  or any other WIPs I’ve got out there.   Interaction really helps feed the Muse and keep me motivated!
Seek & Destroy Collab
After reading @psychiccatpanda‘s amazing   Morguna and the Green Queen, I  got the itch to explore the Soldier’s POV and talked  Faustie into   collab’ing with me!  We’re working on a new part of the series, and I’ve  contributed about 900 words towards the  2500-ish we have so far.   Going to see if I can squeeze any of my BBB squares into this fic.
WinterIron Bingo  - [WIB_R1]   (Ends 16 Dec 2023)
Thanks to the Iron Soldier/One Fill, One Bingo option, I’ve managed a blackout plus!
* B column squares for the Iron Soldier badge (complete a bingo with a single work). – Alpha Tony Stark, “That was not my intention.”, James Rhodes, Alpine loves Tony and Blind date.    Posted  Beta Testing  on Friday – it’s a No Powers AU  where Sam and Rhodey set rich!Alpha Tony up with beta!vet!Bucky as his plus-one for a holiday gala and came in at 1450 words.
* N4 - Unreliable Narrator - Posted Cutting the Strings to Ao3 this morning - a ficlet  where Tony is perhaps misreading Steve’s attitude towards recovering!Bucky.  It came in at 740 words.
Stucky’Verse Bingo Round 1 - [SVB_R1]   (Ends 22 Dec)
Fourteen  fills, three  WIPs and a couple of ideas.  Have one bingo & am shooting for hopefully one more bingo with the fics listed below.
* A1 - Harem -  Wrote up  Newcomer to the Seralgio this week - it’s a crossover with CABB Secret/Forbidden Relationship where Bucky and shrimpy!Steve are both concubines who are more interested in each other than their lord. It’s coming in at 374 words and will post on the 20th.
* A4 - Fairy Tale Curse  - this seems custom-made for a continuation of Beyond the Beast😁  Nothing written yet, other than some Vague Ideas.  It’s fighting me at the moment and am not sure this is going to make it after all.
* C2 - Meet Ugly - Working on  Deck the Halls -  a No Powers AU holiday fic that crosses over with my Winter Break Advent calendar prompt Day 1:  Putting Up Holiday Decorations at the Hospital - almost done at 441 words and targeting to post on 12/18.
* C3 - FREE -  Will be filling this with Chapter 2 of   Half of the Flesh and Blood That Makes Me Whole   - a Bucky POV remix of at least the first part of Take What Was Wrong (And Make it Right), which is currently sitting at  1262 words.  I need to stitch a few things together before posting it this coming Friday.
Bucky Barnes Bingo  - [BBB_R5]   (Ends 10 Jan 2024)
I’ve got  eighteen fills,  three  WIPs,   and a couple more Vague ideas.
* U3 - Fireplace -  Working on a 1980′s No Powers WinterIron fic set at a ski lodge where Tony’s being wooed by poetry and love letters that Bucky wrote to someone else.   Started poking at this as a crossover with a Love Letters prompt and it’s sitting at 129 words.
* C2 - Yelena Belova–   The plan is to use this prompt in the next chapter of Peresmešnik,  (aka Three Avengers and a Baby), which is currently sitting at 1303 words (600-ish of which are mine).
* C5 - Marriage of Convenience/Pretend Couple -  next chapter of   Lady Natasha’s Consort and Lord Steve’s Companion.    Got a spark of an idea the other day that might get me a bit further on this fic.

* Y4 - Forgotten Things -   using this for Chapter 4 of   You Can’t Stop It With a Gun  - it’s sitting at  116 words at the moment.

* August Adopted: Take the Shot - sounds like a WinterHawk fic to me… maybe cross over with JBB Touch-starved?
Tony Stark Bingo Round 7  - [TSB_R7]   (ends 15 Feb)
Twenty  fills and zero WIPs as of the moment, with a couple of ideas in play.
* S1 - Galaxy - possibly use in final chapter of   Never More to Go Astray ?

* T5 - Shawarma - possible crossover with SAUB Canon Divergence – Battle of New York-related?
* A2 - KINK: Concubine - possible crossover with SAUB Gentle Dom  and SRB Multiple Submissives.  I’ve got a fairly fleshed out  (so to speak) story in mind   (Dom!Tony/sub!Steve/sub!Bucky) - just need to get it on paper.
* A3 -  FREE  – @SomeSortofItalianRoast and I are looking at collabing on a  Steve/Tony/Scott fic - maybe throw in a Comfortember prompt?
* R5 - Doppelganger/Evil Twins -   The Flash Fiction Friday prompt [#FFF214 Broken Mirror] got me at least a good start on the idea I’ve been playing with for this square. I posted NamNori on Tumblr and have a general idea of how I want to build on it to also fill my SAUB AU: Crack square. It’s currently sitting at 360 words.
Stony AUniverse Bingo  [SAUB_R1] (ends 15 Feb)
Another brand-new bingo I’m helping co-mod!   Six fills, three WIPs and several  crossover ideas already!
* S1 - Edging - Filled this with Ringing in the New, where Tony makes a suggestion to improve/change up their love life. It’s a crossover with a Flash Fiction Friday prompt: How Do You Use ‘It’? and came in at 324 words - I will post it to Ao3 before the event is over.

* Y4 - AU: Soulmates  -  @chrissihr  posted a cool idea about Animated soulmarks, where  only your SM sees your mark move - may try to do something with this!

* A1 - “It’s you. It’s always been you.” - This might fit in with my TSB Doppelgangers/Evil Twins fill NamNori above :: ponders::
* B2 - Character’s personality is split into two different beings – I’ve never played with Bucky & the Soldier being two different people, but this seems like the perfect opportunity! Will see what might be a good crossover on BBB or WIB (or even SVB)
*  C1 - Touch Starved – another good fit for a Bucky-centric fic. (Steve or Tony or Clint) possibly crossover with BBB Take the shot?
Steve Rogers Bingo - Round 3 [SRB_R3] (ends  15 Jun 2024)

* D1 - Multiple Submissives -  Stuckony crossover with  CABB - C3 - Bath/shower sex  and SAUB  Y1 - Pre-Serum Steve Rogers?
Build-A-Bucky Bingo [BaBB_R1]
Another fun year-long  event from the folks at  @buckybarnesevents!  Each month there’s a list of prompts and you choose (at least) one  each month for your card!
* November:  Crackfic  - see  BBB K4 - Accidental villany
* December – TBD  - probably try for a crossover with SVB.
Warm and Fluffy   Bingo  - [WFB]   (no end date)
Four  fills on my card, courtesy of   @warmandfluffybingocards  - need to try for another crossover or two!

I think what’s really interesting about Apollo and Trucy is that they have the exact same issue but cope with it in total opposite ways.
Both of them have trust issues stemming from not having very stable adults in their lives but Trucy covers it from clinging to whoever is closest while Apollo pushes everyone away.
I think we saw this from Trucy with the scene where Phoenix Wright asks her if she wants to stay with him until her dad comes back. She immediately chose to stay with him and called him daddy in the same breath. Phoenix is taken back but goes with it. I think it’s because Trucy knows she can’t look after herself and desperately needs people in her life (she’s a performer, she thrives off people liking her) so she thinks if she clings to them then they can’t just leave her. She hands out love and the appearance of a cheery girl because she’s a brilliant actor. This weird man who’s now disbarred can’t leave her if he’ll feel bad about it. She would know how to fit into people’s perception.
While Apollo got abandoned by Dhurke after so long together and he doesn’t come across as extroverted or performative as Trucy so I think his coping mechanism works for him. He pushes people away and learnt to look after himself. During the whole court bombing thing, Athena points out that Apollo hides stuff and keeps people out all the time.
AND THAT’S WHY I THINK THE REVEAL OF THALASSA GRAMAYRE WOULD BE A DISASTER.
Trucy would employ her usual tactic of clinging to her without actually feeling that much love for her yet. While Apollo would probably be very angry and lash out to ensure she won’t come back.
BUT! I also think both of them would be mad that the other doesn’t cope like the other does.
Sorry if this gets confusing. I just think Trucy would think clinging would be the best and safest option and so get’s really worried and angry at Apollo that he doesn’t follow her plan. Thus her thinking he’s even painting her as the bad guy as she’s agreed with Thalassa.
And vice versa. I can see Apollo feeling worried sick for Trucy latching on and is petrified she will only be abandoned and hurt all over again.
This is literally all I can picture when it comes to a reveal. Maybe I’m totally misreading the characters but it made sense in my head, haha.

“More than half (56 per cent) of the women surveyed felt their pain was ignored or dismissed, and almost one in four women (compared to one in six men) reported that no one took their pain seriously. Meanwhile, nearly a third (31 per cent) of women said they didn’t want to waste their healthcare professionals’ time, and 27 per cent said it was easier to self-diagnose due to waiting times.”
A new Gender Pain Gap Index, published by Nurofen and supported by women’s health charity Wellbeing Of Women, suggests nearly three quarters of women regularly opt for self-care over seeing a healthcare professional about painful symptoms, including gynae and period pain, headaches, back and joint pain. Many plump for options like massage, acupuncture and exercise, or rely on over-the-counter painkillers, even when living with pain that has a significant impact on their everyday life.
The gender pain gap itself is nothing new: research over the last two decades has highlighted biases and inequalities in the way women’s pain is treated. But the fact that so many women are managing pain without medical support is a worrying indication of the impact that gender gap is having. For many women, it seems, the medical system simply doesn’t have the time or space to take their pain seriously.
“I’m not surprised that 74 per cent of women turn to self-care. We have a system that’s set up in such a way that women are too often left to their own devices,” Dr Nighat Arif, a GP, tells me. “Issues around healthcare professionals not taking women’s pain seriously are something I and lots of other GPs have been banging on about for ages.”
She too sees patients turning to over the counter painkillers, as well as deep heat gels, hot water bottles, cold packs, or purchasing TENS machines – a device commonly used during childbirth and treatment of other types of pain, which works by administering a mild electrical current to the skin. Alternative therapies are also popular, she adds, with women using herbal and Chinese teas, massage, acupuncture, reflexology and osteopathy, as well as seeking private physiotherapy for joint and muscle pain.
For Dr Arif this comes down to three key factors. Firstly, she explains, women’s health issues like periods, pregnancy and menopause have been normalised to such an extent that even severe symptoms are seen as par for the course and not in need of medical intervention.
Young people are being ground down for the sake of pensioners – and it is deeply unfairYoung people are being ground down for the sake of pensioners – and it is deeply unfair23 November, 2022How Scotland's 'yes' and 'no' camps feel after Supreme Court's referendum ruling23 November, 2022Keir Starmer has totally misread the national mood on immigration23 November, 2022
Secondly, women have internalised the message – including from other women, like our mothers – that pain is just something we have to put up with. This, she adds, “is something I see particularly in Black and Asian communities, who have historically been ignored when it comes to medical research.” Finally, Dr Arif says, there is still such shame attached to talking about women’s health issues that often it’s easier to “shut up and put up”.
These barriers to seeking help, she adds, are compounded by an NHS system in which GPs simply don’t have the capacity to delve into the causes of women’s pain. “We only get 10 minutes per patient, which isn’t long enough, and doctors aren’t appropriately educated about women’s health issues anyway. We also have a problem with the referral system, because there aren’t enough gynaecologist and outpatient appointments to refer patients on for specialist support,” Dr Arif explains.
Indeed, a report published by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) earlier this year found that gynaecology waiting lists have increased by 60 per cent since the start of the pandemic – more than any other medical speciality. Speaking at the time, RCOG President Dr Edward Morris put this down to women’s health problems being routinely dismissed as “benign”, and therefore given less priority over other specialist areas.
In reality, of course, the pain women experience can be profound. Forty-one per cent of the 2,604 women surveyed by Nurofen said their pain causes them trouble sleeping, while 24 per cent said it has led to them feeling depressed. This makes it all the more worrying that such a high proportion opt to self-diagnose and self-treat rather than seeking medical care.
The survey results do however provide some insights into the reasons behind this, many of which tally with Dr Arif’s perspective. More than half (56 per cent) of the women surveyed felt their pain was ignored or dismissed, and almost one in four women (compared to one in six men) reported that no one took their pain seriously. Meanwhile, nearly a third (31 per cent) of women said they didn’t want to waste their healthcare professionals’ time, and 27 per cent said it was easier to self-diagnose due to waiting times.
“Women are very good at coping with pain and don’t complain because we often feel like we are being a nuisance or are worried we will be dismissed,” says 53-year-old Katie Taylor. Over the last 40 years, spanning her entire reproductive life, Katie has experienced pain from adenomyosis (a uterine condition, similar to endometriosis, where tissue similar to the womb lining grows inside the muscles of the womb, typically causing painful and heavy periods); a miscarriage, which she says was brushed off very flippantly by a male gynaecologist; perimenopausal migraines, back and joint pain; and gall bladder pain that was initially dismissed as food poisoning or indigestion.
“I suffered from really bad period pains as a teenager, but you just assume everyone does, so you don’t complain. Growing up as a doctor’s daughter, I never had a day off school unless I was basically dying, and the generation above us was very much ‘just get on with it’,” she says.
“Then, because I was dismissed early on in my adult life by the doctor who dealt with my miscarriage, I just felt like I was causing trouble. Similarly, during my perimenopause journey, I felt like I was a hypochondriac because doctors didn’t think there was anything wrong with me. You don’t want to keep going back because it’s embarrassing,” Katie adds.
Like so many of the women Nurofen surveyed, Katie has repeatedly turned to self-care in an attempt to manage her pain – particularly during perimenopause. “I thought perhaps it was my diet, or I wasn’t exercising enough, so I tried cutting out sugar and carbs, eating less, and started running. I thought maybe it was stress, so I tried working less and treating myself to the odd massage. For me personally, nothing made any difference until I went on hormone replacement therapy,” she says.
Of course, the fear of wasting your doctor’s time is one that many of us will feel particularly conscious of given the intense and growing pressure on GPs since the start of the pandemic. While there are times when self-care may be appropriate – for example, by seeking advice from 111 or your local pharmacist first – Dr Arif is very clear that women should not be neglecting their own health.
“We can’t properly fix everything in a 10-minute appointment, but you can empower yourself by knowing your normal, tracking your symptoms, and using the resources out there to try and understand what’s going on,” she says. When you’re making an appointment, her advice is to ask if there’s a doctor or nurse in your GP practice who specialises in women’s health.
If possible, Dr Arif adds, ask for a double appointment and take someone with you who may be able to help advocate for you. Then, when you go in, lay out what the problem is, the impact it’s having on your life, what you’ve already tried, and any suspicions you may have about the underlying cause.
Of course, none of these issues should be solely down to the patient to solve but, under the current system, Dr Arif says these are the best tips she can give as an NHS GP. Ultimately though, it’s clear that we need a much bigger overhaul of the whole system to ensure all women in pain can access the medical care they need.
“The report highlights the urgent need to address the stark inequalities around women’s pain. We must all work together to close the gender health gap once and for all, by improving research, and ensuring better access to information, care and support for women,” says Janet Lindsay, CEO of Wellbeing Of Women. “Only 2.1 per cent of public medical research funding goes into women’s gynaecological health and childbirth. More research will lead to better tests, treatments and cures.”
In my own work too, writing about the gender health gap, I’ve seen how women’s experiences of being dismissed, or not receiving the care they expected from their doctors, can erode their faith in the medical system. Like Katie and Dr Arif, I’ve also seen how many women have been sold the pervasive lie that pain and suffering are an inevitable part of the female experience – not worthy of medical care, even when those symptoms are having a significant impact on their quality of life.
Gaps in medical knowledge, combined with damaging cultural narratives about women’s pain, have created a perfect storm. It’s a worrying state of affairs, particularly when it means those women delay seeking help and struggle on alone. Improving research, medical education, and access to information and support are all high on the agenda for the Government’s Women’s Health Strategy, published earlier this year. But, for the women currently at the sharp end of the gender pain gap, that change can’t come soon enough.

Digimon Adventure (Blind Watch) - Episode 44
Woohoo! Only 10 episodes to go :’) Not a huge fan of this episode. The in-fighting with Yamato vs. Taichi just feels recycled at this point. We all know they’re going to make up, so it’s just like “get on with it!” Also, I’m salty because Jureimon looks so dumb in the anime, he looked really cool in the game! I can’t take him seriously with that Steve Harvey mustache lol
Digimon Introduced: Jureimon, Garbagemon
Notes:
-Not sure where they’re going with Hikari hearing a ~mysterious voice~ over and over. Guess that’s the mystery for this arc?
-We’ve already seen digimon talk the kids into going against each other with PicoDevimon, so it’s making them look pretty gullible at this point. I guess they are still kids...
-Mimi had a badass moment where she fought back against Garbagemon by catching their poop and throwing it back. It definitely made me question why they’re running from those attacks to begin with...(I mean I guess I would too, but if they got past the ick factor they could win!)
-They made a “soramimi” pun (an expression meaning “to mishear”). I wonder if that expression contributed to the characters’ names?
-Gabumon’s unconditional loyalty is interesting. It might be cool if one of the kids did actually switch sides and became a true villain, but they keep emphasizing that the group would fall apart if it lost a member, so they’ve scrapped that option.
-WereGarurumon had an attack called “Cocytus breath” in this episode which I totally misread as “cactus breath” lmao. Apparently Cocytus is a river in the underworld? (lolwut)
-Yamato riding WereGarurumon looked kinda badass, but imagine how uncomfortable riding a robot wolf would be? Ow...

The Photographer - Tobin Heath x Reader
Prompt: Hey, I love your writing. I was wondering if you could do Tobin X reader where the reader is a photographer who's helping out taking pictures for re-inc?
Note: This was option B yesterday!
“That’s the third time you have tripped over that case,” Christen laughed as Tobin stumbled again.
“Then we should probably move it, shouldn’t we,” Tobin grumbled, shy, embarrassed.
“I think it has more to do with who owns the case and not the case itself,” Christen shot her knowing smirk.
They had hired a new photographer to help them with the Re-Inc photoshoot. It was one of their biggest product launches yet, so they decided to bring in a new photographer, give the new launch a new look too.
The new photographer was incredible. They were on day two of the shoot and the pictures they had were phenomenal, it was going to be difficult to narrow down which ones to use. She put all the models at ease, earning genuine smiles, describing what she wanted casual and well. She confidently ran the shoot, politely directing everyone around, eagerly taking critic from Christen and Tobin about what they wanted for the products.
“No, it’s the case, we should move it,” Tobin blushed, looking away from Christen.
Christen grabbed her elbow before she walked away, Tobin let herself be pulled back but refused to make eye contact. “Tobs, just talk to her.” She said softly
“Hey guys,” Y/N approached with a smile, leaning into the case at their feet, starting to switch out lenses. “Shit, is this in the way? Here, let me move it.”
“No, no, no, It’s fine, definitely not in the way. You can leave it wherever you want. All good,” Tobin rambled quickly. Christen turned, smirking at Tobin.
“You sure Tobs? Someone might trip.”
“Oh no, Y/N obviously needs it right here. It’s perfect right here,” Tobin rambled again, “you don’t need to move it, you’re perfect,” Tobin directed to the photographer. “umm I mean your equipment. Perfect where it is, I mean.”
Tobin spun on her heel and walked away without saying anything else.
Y/N slowly stood up, watching the soccer player walk away smirking at the interaction.
“So, I’m good?”
“Perfect apparently,” Christen laughed, shaking her head at her best friends’ actions. “Tobin does some photography in her free time.” If Tobin wouldn’t do anything about her obvious crush, Christen would have to step in.
“Yeah? This your way of telling me I just got fired?”
“What? No, not at all! You are doing a great job!”
“I’m kidding Christen,” Y/N reached over and placed a hand on Christens forearm. “Tobin is welcome to mess around with some of my stuff if she wants.”
Y/N began to walk away, camera in one hand, additional lens in the other.
“She would love that!”
Y/N motioned for one the models to come over, so she could begin to shoot again. Christen turned to go find Tobin.
“Tell me how much you love,” Christen shook Tobins shoulders when she found her.
“What did you do?” Tobin challenged.
“Told Y/N that you do photography.”
“You did what?” Tobin looked at her with wide eyes.
“And she seemed pretty impressed, said you can use some of her equipment,” Christen continued as if Tobin hadn’t spoken. “you should totally do it, go ask her about what she uses or what other projects she has done. Her coffee order. Something Tobin!”
“Christen I can’t believe you!”
“I’m helping Tobin, you like her, talk to her. She is approachable, she’s done great work with our launch, she offered to help you,” Christen rubbed her hands up and down Tobin‘s biceps. “Y/N!” she called over her shoulder, causing everyone to stop what they were doing and look in their direction.
“Yo!” Y/N turned around, grinning.
“Tobin is getting coffee, she wants to know what you want,” Christen pushed the midfielder towards the photographer.
“I hate you,” Tobin mumbled under her breath as she walked towards the photographer.
Y/N could see how uncomfortable Tobin was as she approached.
“You don’t have to get me anything Tobin,” she offered sympathetically.
“No, I’m just heading out now.”
Y/N gave her her order, “why don’t you give me a hand when you come back? I’d love some of your insight.”
Tobin took a deep breath as she approached the photographer after returning from her coffee run.
“Ahh thanks Tobin, let’s take a quick break,” Y/N took the offered coffee, setting her camera down on one of her cases.
Talk to her Christen mouthed over Y/N’s shoulder.
“So, uhh, which camera do you like?” Tobin rolled her eyes at herself.
“I’m mostly using the Nikon D850 for this shoot. It’s perfect for a fashion shoot like this; it’s small, has a quick auto-focus. So, I’m able to get a bunch of rapid shots and poses easy. Fashion shoots can get a little chaotic, lots of people, lots of movement, this is pretty durable,” she lit up at the opportunity to talk about her camera. “Plus, it’s pretty good when I do action shots for sports too, but I usually switch between Nikon D500 for those.”
Tobin nodded along.
“Christen said you do a little photography?”
“Oh yea, but nothing like what you do. Your stuff is incredible!”
“Nah, it’s all you guys. You have great products and people to shoot,” Y/N motions around the room. “You know exactly what you want, so that makes it so much easier. I’m just shooting what you guys envision.”
Tobin blushed at the sincere compliment.
“You’ve done such a good job with our stuff, really brought out our vision and made an effort to listen to what we wanted.”
Now Y/N blushed, then began to pick up her camera, motioning another model over to resume shooting.
Tobin awkwardly shifted on the case she was sitting on. Christen came from behind, placing her hands under Tobins arms and lifting her up.
“Ask to help,” Christen whispered in her ear.
“Want to help, Tobin?” Y/N called over her shoulder before Tobin could even think of it. Christen pushed her forward.
Y/N stretched out her arm holding the camera, offering it to Tobin.
“Are you sure?”
“Of course! It’s your shoot, it needs to have your guys’ touch on it too,” Y/N nodded with a smile.
Tobin stepped forward and took the camera, stiffly taking a few photos. Y/N slid up next to her, placing a hand over Tobin’s.
“Relax your grip, you’re too tense, the camera won’t focus as clear.”
Tobin nodded to herself, taking a steadying breath, focussing on loosening her grip. Y/N applied a small amount of pressure to Tobin’s hand, guiding it to a new position. She leaned back to glance at the screen while Tobin kept snapping pictures.
“Those look really good Tobin!” Y/N encouraged, “step to your left a bit, and drop down. It will give you a better angle up and shift the lighting.”
Tobin shifted a little bit, still taking pictures. Y/N nodded along, tilting her head focusing on the screen and the photos as they came up, eyebrows furrowed in concentration. Tobin risked looking at the photographer, her jaw dropped, camera dipping down as she looked at the photographer.
Y/N’s face relaxed, looking away from the screen to Tobin as the photos stopped showing up. Christen rolled her eyes as she saw it occur.  Tobin quickly brought the camera up and rapidly took pictures.
“Want me to take back over?”
“Uhh yea, probably for the best,” Tobin handed the camera back.
Y/N stepped back over, taking the camera back, shifting around the space taking more pictures.
“Smooth Tobs, real smooth,” Christen whispered into Tobin’s ear, nudging her shoulder.
“Was it that bad?” Tobin cringed.
“Nah, it could have been worse. I do suggest you ask her out, I’m guessing most photographers don’t let just anyone touch their cameras.”
“True,” Tobin nodded along, “so you think she would say yes?”
“I would be amazed if she said no Tobs,” Christen squeezed Tobin’s arm reassuringly.
The two stood and watched while Y/N continued to work, seamlessly adjusting people, patiently directing them where they needed to be. Tobin couldn’t take her eyes off the photographer; the subtle flex in her forearm while she gripped the camera, her tongue sticking out as she concentrated, the one piece of hair that wouldn’t stay behind her ear. Tobin took it all in, wanting to learn what other quirks she had.
“I think that’s good for today,” Y/N smiled, beginning to pack up her camera and the additional lenses she had been using. “Thanks everyone, great work!”
Tobin confidently took steps toward Y/N as she snapped one of her cases shut.
“Hey, I’m thinking of going for a drink now, maybe go for supper. Want to join?”
The soccer player tripped over her own feet. She had planned on asking out Y/N, she had not been expecting Y/N to ask her out first.
Y/N misinterpreted Tobin’s stumble as being uncomfortable and began to back track.
“But you’re probably busy. Or I total misread this,” the photographer trailed off, focusing intently on packing her things.
“Shit, no,” Tobin took two large steps to finish closing the distance. “Supper sounds perfect. I was actually on my way over to ask you the same thing.” She awkwardly chuckled, rubbing the back of her neck.
“Oh,” Y/N’s head shot up, “umm great, that’s great.”
This was the first time Tobin had seen Y/N unconfident in her actions.
“Great,” Tobin winked, earning an unexpected blush, “why don’t I help you pack up and we can leave from here?”
Y/N grinned and nodded in return.

cardan pov ch 21 anon here— I totally wouldn't mind a long, steamy detailed one 😍
Ps - you're a sweetheart to even give the option 🤧
Yessss -- you are my kind of people. (I was actually hoping someone would want this! lol.) Gather around, my thirsty sinners. You asked for it - it’s His Monstrous Bride Part III. (This isn’t all that explicit -- I tried to make it pretty. :) )
(Also I didn’t do much editing - sorry. I need to get back to work. LOL.)
For reference, here’s His Monstrous Bride and His Monstrous Bride Part II and this little steamy Cardan POV drabble from The Wicked King and also this sappy thing.
------------------------------------
There’s no escaping it this time. Cardan is escorting Jude Duarte back to his bedroom, their bedroom, and there’s absolutely no escaping it. Every eye has been watching them all evening. Surely every conspiring mind has now been examining their relationship from afar for its weaknesses, and Jude must know this, too.
That has to be why she’s taking it this far, Cardan tells himself. She must want to keep up the ruse, a show of their marriage’s fortitude.
So, when the door closes behind them, his first plan is to take the secret passages to the Court of Shadows for the night – as he has every night since Jude returned. He’ll find a cot there and practice attempts at flipping coins through his fingers until he can’t keep his eyes open anymore. He’ll try not to think about Jude.
And one day, that will become habit. One day, it won’t be so bad.
Behind him, Jude sighs and sags against the doorframe. When he turns to look at her again, she almost hurts to look at. She is ravishing, draped in decadent gold that glitters like chain mail. If she is exhausted, she hasn’t looked it yet. Or maybe he hasn’t been paying close enough attention – the gown dips perilously low in the front, and it’s been practically impossible to keep his eyes from taking little trips there.
It’s that sight and more that pulls him back a step against his better judgment -- and then another.
“You were very formidable tonight, my queen,” he tells her. He likes calling her his queen. He likes even better the look she gets on her face when she hears it. She seems as little flushed when he steps nearer.
“After that speech you made, it didn’t take much,” she says, looking up at him with those big, warm brown eyes. When she looks at him with admiration like this, he thinks he might actually be something worth loving. Or at least, he will make himself so if it means Jude will always see him like this.
“It cannot be anything other than the truth,” he reminds her. “Or it never could have left my tongue.”
He’s spent many fantasies in his younger days dreaming up villainous soliloquies, but he finds now, looking down at Jude like this, so close and so soft, her eyes glittering, her pink lips parting, his mind drifts to poetry. He wishes he had better words to give her. He wishes he had the magic to make her understand what he feels.
If she could know, maybe then she could feel something in return…
But then, Jude says, her voice low, her cheeks flushing: “You didn’t come to bed last night.”
Cardan scrambles to hide his surprise. After slapping him in the royal rose garden, he’d felt fairly certain she wouldn’t want him anywhere near their bed. He must be misunderstanding…
“I’m here now,” he says.
How many times has he wished he could see into Jude’s mind? He’s lost count at this point. Is she angry with him? Is she plotting? Is she desiring him? He never knows. He can’t keep up. What’s important is that, right now, in this moment, she isn’t moving. She’s still gazing up at him, her eyes flitting over his mouth, and he’s so aware of her warmth. If one of them were to move, they could be touching.
He’s going to try. He must. He’s desperate for her.
Gingerly, carefully, he takes her hand, and she lets their fingers entwine again. She gazes up at him again, like an invitation. Her eyes are so clearly full of hope, with the tiniest quirk of a smile on her lips – and he’s done for. He gives in to the unseen pull that draws him to her lips.
He’s kissed her before, but this. Oh, this. When he’d tricked her into marrying him and traded kisses with her in the dark, it wasn’t even as good as this – and until this, that had been his favorite. In that moment, he’d felt like he was hers, and she his, and for a moment, everything was safe and right. He’d cursed the memory of that feeling while she was in exile, fearing he’d never again have anything so perfect – but here, he thinks he might have been wrong about that. He hopes he was wrong. It feels like she’s surrendering to his lips, arching into him, each kiss a request for another.
He never wants to stop. When she’s like this, he wants to kiss every soft bit of her she’ll let him. He touches fingers to her chin, leaving kisses across her mouth, her cheeks, her jaw. The sigh she lets out when he dips to kiss her neck sends a bolt of desire, hot and severe, all though his whole body.
“You looked like a knight in a story tonight,” he murmurs there. “Possibly a filthy story.”
She kicks him in the leg, but he feels her smile against his skin – he knew she’d love that. He takes her lips again – he would give anything, everything to keep making Jude smile.
Nothing’s slowing down, and he’s dizzy in this pull of heated desire and confusion – where is this going? What is she thinking? Surely, she’ll shove him off soon, like she did in the room behind the dais. But she’s staggering, too -- maybe just as dizzy -- and he presses her to the wall. The air leaves his body when she pulls at his shirt, sliding her fingertips up his back.
There’s no misreading that, right? She’s clearly into this. His tail seems to think so, the little traitor. It’s wrapped itself around her ankle, and the feel of her calf beneath it sends thrills up his spine. It’s so deliciously indecent – he’s losing his head. He wants so much more. His fingers push into her hair – her skin is hot under his hands. More. She wraps her arms over his shoulders, pulling him flush with her curves. More. He takes her in his arms, his hands at her hips, lifting her feet off the floor.
It’s then she draws in a tight breath. Freezes in his arms.
Of course. Of course. He sets her back down. He knew this was coming. This was too much. He’s too much. Now he’s overwhelmed her. Her cheeks are rosy, her eyes bright – her chest (oh, gods, her chest) heaves like she’s been running.
“We need not--” he starts, and he’s out of breath, too. But Jude shakes her head.
“No, just give me a second,” she says, and bites her lip, and Cardan feels absolutely feverish. He wants to bite that lip.
Jude takes a step back. This may be his undoing. If this is going to end poorly, he may end up running off into the night, shrieking like a feral lunatic, never to be seen again.
“I’ll be right back,” she says, which is somehow not reassuring at all. Especially when she turns and fairly flees for the wardrobe.
Cardan is dumbstruck and breathless as he turns, looking wildly around the room for his own exit. What did he do? How did this happen? She seemed just as desperate for him seconds ago – what did he do? His palms are sweaty – was that it? Did his hands disgust her? He tries to dry them on his trousers, which are feeling a little uncomfortable and too tight. Oh, no – was that what she’d noticed? His – his…
Cardan closes his eyes. There’s going to be no coming back from this humiliation. (At least now his trousers are comfortable again.) It’s time to go feral. Time to join the cats of the wild that raised him. This is his destiny, he supposes.
There’s some rustling behind him from the wardrobe, and he knows it’s Jude returning. Probably to tell him it’s best if she finds her own rooms. He takes a deep breath and swallows to steel himself.
And then turns.
Jude.
Jude is – Jude is – Jude Duarte is completely naked.
Cardan makes some completely embarrassing sound in his shock. She is -- oh, gods – she is exquisite. He has always thought her the only real thing in a land of spirits, and she has never looked more real than she does now. That enticing curve of her ears is nothing compared to the full swell of her hips, the heaviness of her breasts, the formidable curve of every toned muscle. He feels more real just looking at her.
She’s biting that lip again, her eyes glittering with mirth.
“Come here.” He means to ask it, but he can’t help it. He must have more of this.
Her gaze smolders as she sashays to him. Then drops to her knees before him.
Is this a dream? It’s a very good one. Cardan really hopes he doesn’t wake up too soon.
“Is this what you imagined I’d be like,” Jude asks, her voice husky, “back in your rooms at Hollow Hall, when you thought of me and hated it? Is this how you pictured my eventual surrender?”
Cardan’s face burns. Admitting his darkest fantasies to Jude Duarte was not something he’d ever planned on doing. But she doesn’t seem to hate the truth of him – she may not love him, but there is clearly something she doesn’t mind so much.
“Yes,” he hears himself admit. He’ll take the gamble.
Jude presses a hand to his thigh. He wonders if she’ll notice the twitching in his pants.
“Then what did I do?” she murmurs.
This can’t be real. Can it? It’s not even been a week since she slapped him. And he’s not sure she won’t do it again if she knows the truly depraved things that once filled his prepubescent mind.
But she also might not…
“I imagine you telling me to do with you whatever I liked.” Another gamble. The truth hasn’t hurt him yet tonight.
Jude splutters out a laugh. Cardan smiles, nervously.
“Really?” She sounds incredulous.
“Along with some begging on your part. A little light groveling.” He cannot believe he’s doing this. He should be slapped. “My fantasies were rife with overweening ambition.”
And then Jude slides back to the cold stone floor, lying on her back before him, and his heart stops. He’s read that in novels before – about sights making the hero’s heart stop. He assumed it was an exaggeration – hyperbole. It is not. He’s not sure how he’s still alive.
“You may do with me whatever you like,” Jude says, extending her arms out to him. “Please oh please. All I want is you.”
She’s teasing him. He knows it. She thrives on trickery. Still. How can he not at least get a little closer? He must at least try…
He draws in a breath. Drops so that he is on all fours, hovering above her. Beneath him, her auburn hair splays out like a fan across the stones, and the hollow at the base of her slender throat darkens with each breath. She reaches her hands to his shoulders, holding him there. Holding, he notes – not pushing away.
He turns his head to kiss her wrist. Her pulse races beneath his lips – he’s not imagining it. He knows he’s not, and it’s then he’s starting to understand that this may not be a trick. Jude wants him. Jude Duarte wants him – even after learning the truths of his darkest imaginings. That is absurd.
That is…utterly glorious.
“Mock me all you like,” he murmurs and brushes back a lock of her hair, tenderly. “Whatever I imagined then, now it is I who would beg and grovel for a kind word from your lips.” Her lips part slightly in surprise – she is the very picture of his desires. “By you,” he says, “I am forever undone.”
And undone as he is, Cardan is helpless to his body’s call. He bends to kiss her again, and when he does, she slides her fingers into his hair, pulling him to her. When he arches against her naked body, he groans, aching with need. Somehow his shirt is undone – he’s not sure which one of them did it. Only that it’s got to go. He wants to feel every inch of her against him. If she’ll let him.
And just when he thinks he has her figured out --
“I’m not mocking,” Jude whispers against his ear.
That stops him.
He pulls back. It is absolutely unbelievable that she has not been teasing him. She truly wants him to do with her as he pleases? There is still so much about Jude Duarte he does not understand.
“We have lived in our armor for so long, you and I. And now I am not sure if either of us knows how to remove it,” he says.
“Is this another riddle?” Jude asks. “And if I answer it, will you go back to kissing me?”
Gods. He will never tire of the puzzle of Jude Duarte.
And now that she seems to be truly offering, truly wanting, he is further surprised to realize how drastically his own wants have changed. Every fantasy he had pales in comparison to witnessing Jude Duarte want him.
“If that’s what you want.” He moves to be at her side. He mentally kicks himself for not sounding more sure of himself. It’s just… she has hated him for so long. And she may not love him ever.
But wanting him. She does want him. That is enough. That is more than enough.
“I told you what I wanted,” Jude challenges. “For you to do with me whatever--”
“No,” he cuts her off. She doesn’t understand. “What you want.”
Show me you want me. He wants to witness the proof.
And she shows him. She straddles his body, and it is better than anything he could have imagined. She is statuesque – she is monumental. He is in awe below her.
“I want--” But she blushes and kisses him instead, her breasts pressed to his chest. She kisses him again and again.
This is what she wants.
Her hands are everywhere – his face, his chest, his stomach. Her fingers are sliding under his trousers.
This is what she wants.
His hands meet hers, and he lifts his hips just slightly to pull off his pants. He watches her face every second, watches for any sign that she’s changed her mind. But she keeps her gaze on his face the whole time – heated. Expectant.
This is what she wants.
He’s aching, wanting, dripping with desire. He holds his breath – she takes him in her hand as she brings them together in a careful slide.
This is what she wants.
She gasps, and he cups a hand to her soft cheek, the other a gentle anchor at her back while she moves slowly. She turns her head and bites his palm, sharp and fierce, a low sound in the back of her throat. It is agony and bliss all at once.
You are what she wants.
He hasn’t done much worthy in the short span of his never-ending life, but somewhere along the line, he must have done something right. He thinks this must be how lion tamers feel – no, better. Jude wants him. She is taking from him all that she wants, and he will give her everything he can. He’ll give her a map and a shovel to dig through the wreckage of his heart. He’ll let her keep any broken bit she likes.
His thoughts leave him completely as they move together as one toward their pleasure and its blissful pain. He knows only that she sighs his name against his skin, and it is the first time in these many long months that he’s actually felt like a king.

I feel like one of the previous asks was asking you whether or not you thought a season five WITHOUT MM/Rio would have worked. There’s a lot of blame going on, pointing the finger at him for the reason for cancellation. And so some people are like “then just leave him out of it and make the show anyway!” So I feel like that person was asking you that if the show runners went that route (letting MM go), would the show continue to work or is Rio and Beth’s partnership to integral to the show (or too integral to what season 5 would be)?
I personally think with the way they’ve set it up, it would be VERY jarring not to have him in season 5. If they had gotten rid of him after S2, this might be different story. But not now, not with the events of S4. And I do think they would lose a big chunk of their viewership, too. And I think they were aware of that, so they just decided not to go through with it at all.
Don’t wanna be annoying, I was just a lil confused by your answer (I agree with it, but I don’t think that’s what that person was asking lol).
Oh! You're totally right, anon, I completely misread that ask! I'm so sorry to you and the original anon, and you're not annoying at all! Thank you for pointing it out! I'm just doped up to the eyeballs on Naprogesic for cramps today which apparently has me on planet lala. Clearly I should be leaving my inbox alone, hahaha. 🙈
And mmmmm, I don't think they could've had no appearance from him, no. They were really clearly setting up the arc for s5 for them to be partners, and to remove one half of that partnership would be extremely jarring, like you said.
I feel like they maaaaaybe could've gotten away with a couple of guest spots? Just off the top of my head, maybe had him in 5.01 and have the season start with him and Beth working together, but then Rio needing to go away for something to do with the business and going missing, effectively writing him out for the bulk of the season. That could create an interesting arc of Beth trying to balance the business on her own while trying to find Rio and being forced to work with Mick, who's just shot her, and Nick, who she's just played and is trying to hurt her. You could even bring back Rosa, Rhea and Marcus as a way of keeping Rio's presnece on the show without him actually being there, and using the mystery as a driving conflict of the season. Then he could pop back in the finale for a resolution and reunion.
So there's that sort of thing as an option, but I think it would be difficult to manage tonally and potentially take too much attention away from other storylines. I also do agree that I think you'd lose one of the core dynamics of what makes the show work (and I do want to emphasise one of – this show wouldn't work without the girls' interpersonal dynamic either, nor Ruby and Stan's, and I actually think Dean and Beth's too).
The push-pull between Beth and Rio has continued to be so compelling because Christina and Manny's chemistry continues to be out of control and they continue to be exceptionally watchable as scene partners. While I think Ignacio's a good actor (I don't actually think Nick's an easy role to play, and I think he balanced the smarminess and the charm really well to sell the character), he and Christina don't have the same spark on screen together, and while I think Carlos is a delight, I don't think he's a strong enough actor to fill Manny's shoes as the link to the crime world.
So yeah, I think it would be do-able, but I do think the show would suffer for the loss of Manny, just like I think it would suffer with the loss of any of the core six actors on this show. A lot of this show has frequently been flawed, but I really do think they struck gold with the leading six and the way they act together, and to lose any of them would remove a part of what makes the show magic, and Manny is very much included in that.

Do you have any new ppg headcannon bc I'm starving for some.
:p ive always got some!
But lmao I misread the ask and thought you meant, “new ppg headcannons BC” as in, “for buttercup,” but like I just added the “for” for some reason so 😬 that’s what I wrote. My bad. She’s just on my mind. I’ve got more for the two other girls, their sibling relationships, and other characters, but I don’t want to bore you, so we’ll stick with buttercup 😂
My h/c’s typically depend on the story I’m envisioning in my head, but I’ve got a few that are consistent:
- more jock than punk. I see a lot of people lean hard into the punk aesthetic, which I appreciate, but BC feels more jock to me, she’s too athletic not to be!
- I don’t really get too caught up in the “sexuality” debates, but I lean bisexual, and also pretty androgynous (or non-binary if you prefer that terminology) in gender representation
- but really I don’t think any of that matters much to BC. She doesn’t define herself, basically just vibes and looks good doing it
- rip to her hair tho. She’s always taking scissors to it until she grows up a bit and figures out a good stable “adult” haircut. But her hair never grows past her shoulders and she doesn’t like it in her face.
- I don’t think she’s thinks she’s pretty. I feel she sees her body as a lethal tool, and I think the people around her affirm that thinking, but no one takes the time to remind her she’s pretty (like they do her sisters) and that’s got to have an effect on her. (She’s got ugly duckling syndrome lol)
- also a sad one, but I think she deals with a guilty conscience! She takes her mistakes hard and ends up over apologetic when she gets older. ((For example, she doesn’t like going to the dentist because of that whole dentist episode where she punched out peoples teeth for money lmao; and she’s too friendly to Elmer for bullying him when she was in preschool))
- I like her not having a special power, so I don’t fuss with that debate. Don’t need a special power if you’re already the best 🤷‍♀️ I also don’t think she needs to be the strongest/fastest out of the three sisters to be the “toughest” because those traits dont equal toughness. It’s her endurance and perseverance that make her tough and getting stuck in the weeds of which sister is stronger defeats the point of the show, ya know?
- however I feel she works out/trains the most so she’s probably the best fighter!
- lmao no one’s going to agree with this one, but I think of her as more a morning person than night owl! I think she’s the one who wakes up early to work out, eat, shower, and than throw her sisters out of bed so they (they meaning blossom, who’s a chronic night owl) don’t bitch about being late to school/etc
- idk there’s just something about this girl that makes me feel like one of two things would happen if she went to the beach: 1) she’d bitch about the sand the WHOLE time or 2) she’d bury herself up to her head in the sand and stay there the WHOLE time—-there is no in between
- “what would buttercup be when she grew up???”Thanks for the question you totally actually asked and I didn’t just make up!! I’ve got (5) routes BC could take:
1) (my fave) Healthcare! I think she could take this path in a powers or no-powers au. I don’t see her as a doctor, but I do see her as a nurse ((ER only/though pediatric would be funny with her character, like imagine the cute scrubs lol, and then, imagine she buys cute scrubs with her and her sisters faces plastered on them b/c she’s funny like that)). I also see her in physical therapy! But mostly I see her as an emergency responder! She does good in emergency situations, and I’m assuming because she’s a superhero she has a basic understanding of first aid, so this would fit her skills set. Also, going into healthcare would allow her to do something “physical” while helping others ((she’s very hero-minded 😊))
2) personal trainer who specializes in self defense! Works for stories with powers or no powers. I could also see her owning her own gym
3) just a full time superhero / or in a no powers au, special agent of the PPG (wink to the people who know what I’m referencing)
4) professional athlete. Only for a no power au because having powers would be cheating. But this option is boring to me ngl
5) lmaooo housewife. Listen, tell me BC doesn’t remind you of Izumi from FMAB?! TELL ME IM WRONG!!!! Like she gets pissed off being a hero, retires, and wants to live a normal domestic life but keeps getting sucked out of retirement to save the world!! (Also Izumi marries a butcher 😉) Buttercup would be a kickass mom of 5 unruly little boys and it’d be a good ass time
For example:
Taking care of her kids—
Tumblr media
saving her kids—
Tumblr media
Having a equally retired but badass husband—
Tumblr media
- I’ve got a whole plot about the housewife thing ngl so I’m always a little excited to talk about it
- in line with the domestic au, I feel buttercup would actually be pretty good with kids! Babies would freak her out because she’d be scared she’d break them, but she’d probably be the “cool” babysitter and let you stay up past your bedtime (bubbles is also good with kids, blossom is not)
- physical touch is BC’s love language and she hates when she catches herself leaning into it. Then it goes, acts of service (the whole superhero thing), words of affirmation, quality time (she can have introverted tendencies so this is towards the bottom), and gift giving! (Bubbles would be gift giving, conflicting with BC) (Blossom would be words of affirmation followed very closely by acts of service)
- yeah I def see her as an introverted extrovert. Pretty shy at first, acts cool to cover it up, then really shows you who she is as you get to know her!
And I’ll end it here! I hope you like them sorry again for misreading the ask and only doing Butters!

Tumblr media
this is everything i’ve read in the past month put into a list for the sole benefit of my short term memory. it’s a mess of pairings but mostly drarry and can be summed up as lots of enemies to lovers, excessive pining, and a splash of fake dating.
Drarry:
What Real Thing? - loveglowsinthedark (13k)
They don’t cuddle, they don’t talk about their relationship (or lack thereof) and they certainly never fall asleep in each other’s arms.
Aural Gratification - birdsofshore (11k)
Harry's not gay – he just likes listening to exciting stories about Aurors. It's not his fault that the narrator's voice is so smooth, so expressive... and really rather hot.
You open always (petal by petal) - birdsofshore (65k)
Harry’s not the kind of person who pays for sex. He really isn’t. Until he is.
Lumos - birdsofshore (41k)
Harry never expected to spend eighth year listening to Draco Malfoy wanking.
Heartlines - shiftylinguini (73k)
Harry never expected he’d end up chipping away at his virginity while wandless and bonded to Malfoy in Northern Europe.
He never expected that would turn out to be the least surprising thing to happen while out on their training expedition in the middle of nowhere, either.
The Sleeping Beauty Curse - who_la_hoop (153k)
When Draco Malfoy falls into a cursed sleep and can only be woken – at least, according to the Daily Prophet, that impeccable source of truth – by ‘true love’s kiss’, Harry Potter knows there’s no way on earth he’s the answer to this particular riddle. Is he . . .?
Strange Bedfellows - orphan_account, ravenclawsquill (31k)
When Harry encounters a frail and fidgety Draco Malfoy at the Ministry, he just knows something is wrong and he’s determined to get to the bottom of it.
A story about Deadly Nightshade, crippling insomnia, excellent wine … and finding what you need in the strangest of circumstances.
The Devil’s White Knight - orphan_account (65k)
When Harry wakes up in an alternate timeline--a timeline where Voldemort was defeated long before the first war--he discovers everything is different. His parents, his godfather, his friends--and him. Harry must deal with the consequences of who he would have been if he had been raised by his parents, and figure out where he stands with his casual hook up, Draco Malfoy.
Who Shagged Harry Potter? - faithwood (6k)
One beautiful sunny Sunday the Slytherins wake up after a raunchy night only to discover a very naked Harry Potter sleeping in their dormitory. Naturally, they ask themselves a logical question: Who the hell shagged him?
Draco Malfoy, It’s Your Lucky Day - faithwood (47k)
Even though he's unarmed, injured, lost in the Forbidden Forest, and facing a possible murder charge, Draco Malfoy gets lucky.
Love Comes Tumbling - taradiane (22k)
'Harry's thoughts were of how much he would have done differently with Malfoy over the years, and of Dumbledore's final words to the other boy . . . "It is my mercy, and not yours, that matters now." Maybe, Harry wondered, he could find some mercy, too, and give Malfoy the second chance that Dumbledore had believed him worthy of.’
punch-drunk fingerprints - tamerofdarkstars (2k)
In a world where every touch of a soulmate leaves a temporary heat mark on bare skin, Draco Malfoy suddenly finds his life devolving into a massive cliche because the Boy Who Lived Twice has no idea how to respect the personal space bubble.
Muggle Technology and Heroism - TommyLane (90k)
Draco Malfoy wasn’t exactly the best roommate Harry’s ever had. The man tended to watch way too much James Bond and his obsession with muggle technology not only rivaled Arthur Weasley’s but more often than not ended with Harry trying to assure him that the appliances weren’t out to get him. Then there was the little fact that Harry was hopelessly in love with him while Draco remained completely unaware, bringing nameless men home night after night.
But Harry loved his life and was somewhat (as long as he doesn’t actually think about it) content enough in the way things were going. That is until Draco’s old boyfriend comes sweeping back into town – making Draco breakfast and fixing the remote control before Harry can and forcing him to realize that if he doesn’t do something soon, that he might lose the man he loves before he even gets a chance to ever actually have him.
Party of Two - fireflavored (13k)
Drinking, sex, and a total misreading of the concept of fuck buddies.
A Dented Old Street Sign - orphanghost (27k)
Draco knows they aren't the only students who will be completing their NEWTs this year, but they are the only ones whose home fireplaces were disconnected from the floo network by the ministry.
At least, Draco assumes as much until he sees the light falling out from the front door of one of the other rickety old houses in front of them and the three figures cast in its warm glow. For a moment they look like some sort of strange, many legged creature. An acromantula, or a particularly massive Blast-Ended Skrewt. Then Draco hears Pansy make a disgusted sound beside him and the light falls in a less blinding way, and Draco can see that it is actually Potter and the Weasel carrying a large couch between them, and Granger fluttering around them with her wand out, seeming concerned.
(The Piece) I was Missing All Along - lauren3210 (31k)
Draco and Harry have been flatmates and best friends for years, and Draco thinks life is just perfect that way. But when something comes along and threatens to take all that away, Draco has to decide what it is he really wants, and just how hard he's going to work to get it.
The Gentlewizard Club - Sophie_French (28k)
Draco wants what Draco wants. And if he has to snuggle up to Harry to get it, well, surely, Draco can handle that. Problem is, not sure Harry can.
Larry:
A Little Bit Like Fate - Galaxie (8k)
Louis stumbles upon a kiss-in protest for LGBTQ rights, and he meets Harry. They click. It feels a little bit like fate.
Go Nowhere Tonight - objectlesson (12k)
As always, the easy nonchalance with which he treats the rumors hurts, stabs Harry in the gut, twists the knife. Because it is hard for Harry; it’s hard to know people think they should be or are together because he wants that. Wants it so fucking badly, and it would be one thing if he could just silently quarantine that part of himself and pine secretly, but instead he’s faced with fictionalized accounts of his and Louis’s nonexistent love life and photoshopped pictures of them being coupley every time he’s on the internet. It is hard, and the fact that it supposedly isn’t for Louis functions as proof that it’s unrequited. “It’s gonna be a rude awakening for them,” he starts, gazing into his empty glass, “when we eventually come out but are dating other people. No one likes being half-right.”
Good Enough to Eat - objectlesson (7k)
“Okay. I just...fuck, I can’t believe I’m telling you this,” Harry whimpers, and he must be blushing because Louis can feel waves of heat coming off him, his embarrassment a hot, palpable thing. “So, like…I love rimming videos. Nothing makes me come harder,” he admits, covering his face with his hands so his voice comes out muffled and strangled.
You Drive Me Crazy (I Just Can’t Sleep) - objectlesson (18k)
The first time Louis ends up in Harry’s bed is a total accident.
Vinyl and Lace - objectlesson (8k)
Harry tries on a skirt in the X Factor dressing room as a joke. Louis doesn't think it's very funny.
Wolfstar:
Let Us Be Silent, That We May Hear the Whispers of the Gods - gyzym (2k)
Remus Lupin doesn't want to hear it--not tomorrow and not yesterday, but certainly not right now.
Trobed:
Advanced Ambulatory Ichthyology - gyzym (49k)
Course provides advanced instruction in avoidance of the phenomenon commonly known as "jumping the shark." Prerequisites for this course include Introduction to Friendship, Contemporary Best Friendship, The Politics of Emotional Baggage and Cohabitation 207. Students may wish to simultaneously enroll in our sister course, Introduction to Non-Traditional Romance, but said enrollment is optional.
Introduction to Women’s Studies - ama (7k)
You know the story. They're best friends, they're inseparable, Abra has a rainbow collection of hijabs as extensive and impressive as her graphic t-shirt collection and is the hottest girl Tory's seen outside of a mirror--not that that means anything. Right?

Okay, so I haven’t seen a show that I related to legit every character like, ever, and The Owl House hit me like a truck.
As I watched (and rewatched) how each character acts and develops, I look at them and feel a connection.
Luz, the ‘weird’ girl, the outsider, the overly positive, interested, distractible, oblivious, and big hearted character. I utterly love Luz Noceda. Like holy crap. We both find oddly specific things interesting be it a specific topic or the immersion into a fandom. We both make weird jokes and get into pun wars with people (I had one go on for about an hour once...it was glorious). For a person who’s pretty negative about myself, when other people are involved, I lift them up as high as possible, even with weak nerd arms. We both get distracted easily, or are at least oblivious. I didn’t know half of the things happening around me during school, and I honestly still don’t. I’ve watched movies 50 times and realized the actual point/blatantly obvious event during the 51st. I’ve had people like me before and I never noticed until someone told me then I struggled to believe it (”What is it she sees, in this cluster clump of me?”). (Honestly the entirety of ‘Ordinary’ called me out super hard). Luz also does crazy things for her friends with the best of intentions (even if it isn’t well thought out). Her heart is so big and she sees the best in everyone, it’s just amazing. Little things she does and has said, I’ve done too (especially the ‘cool’ scene).
Amity is often misread and quiet, struggling to talk to others. She also doesn’t like others to see her emotions very much, she bottles them up and has a need to be seen in a certain way. She has to be ‘perfect (a song which also called me out pretty hard). I feel that deep down in my soul my dudes. I always had to have perfect grades and I still have to be perfect at everything I do on the first try (I’m working on not doing that). I was always quiet, and honestly still am. I definitely bottle up my emotions rather than let others see what’s up and I have a hard time forming coherent sentences around crushes...well...around people in general. I always felt the need to be the straight A student and the rock in my loved one’s lives (which they never expected of me so I don’t know where that came from haha) and I still kinda do. Amity also sacrifices herself for her friends (Grom...sports....must I say more?). And though I may not have sacrificed my body, I’ve protected my friends hard core. No one messes with my buds.
Eda. Oh Eda. The wild witch who ran off to live in the woods because she didn’t like school and didn’t want to commit to one coven in life. The witch who is slow to pick up on things, is chaotic, and completely weird in the best possible way. I always liked school until I was about to graduate, then I realized how it can really mess with people (see Eda running around the school pointing out the strangeness of it all). All I feel that I really learned from school was to take a test. Creativity killer sadly. Eda has a strange sense of humor and is slow to get sarcasm or that it was a joke. Same Eda, same. I also cannot commit to one coven, well, career or job for the rest of my life. I like keeping my options open. Plus I would love to build a house out in the woods nearby and be a witch. I’ve always been weird and chaotic too, but I think Eda’s weird is way more fun than my own.
King is a goofy little dude who usually has weird jokes or points of view, but sometimes is super wise. I know that I have a strange sense of humor that it seems like most of my people don’t understand, and I have been known to be wise when I’m not thinking about it...on the other hand, when I try to be wise, I stumble and say something extremely weird. He struggles with public speaking/putting himself out there (Grom) and is nervous a while before getting comfortable with it. (I hate public speaking says the kid who did musicals for 13 years, writes songs, and thinks she wants to be an author, artist, actress, or musician). I also connect with King with the fact that I freakin’ love rubber ducky stuff. I legit have a rubber ducky bathrobe (of which one of my best friends gave me as a birthday gift...it’s a bit small but it’s sososo soft I love it), I made a ducky pillowcase today to practice sewing (it’s so cute I almost cried), I have a bunch of duckies stashed away throughout the house, and my Grandma made me a ducky baby quilt for the future. Ducks! Am I right? (I’m right.)
Willow is the shy, not-so-confident plant girl. I am too a shy, not-so-confident plant girl. I legit have about 14 or 15 plants (each have a name) that I care about a lot. I don’t really remember being bullied (I know I was at least once), but I’ve definitely had my heart hurt (honestly pretty badly) by people I considered friends at that time (I won’t get into that here). I’m also a shy person who’s been working on being more confident with themselves. Plus: plants!
Gus is fascinated by specific topics and is younger than everyone else, which may make him feel a bit childish. I feel this on a personal level. I’m the youngest child on my Mom’s side and the second youngest on my Dad’s. I was the baby and I don’t think I got to do much with the older kids (you’re too young so we don’t wanna play with you kinda thing, etc. [which is totally fine and I get 100%]) Though I may be older than all of my friends, I still feel like a child compared to nearly all of them. They’re all so smart and put together, and I’m not. I’m also fascinated by specific topics that others may not know or care to know much about (for Gus, it’s humans, for me, it’s a lot of things).
Edric and Emira are pretty similar to my sister and I. We aren’t twins, we didn’t always get along, and we rarely had shenanigans or pranked like these two do, but as we got older, we understood each other better and our relationship is basically being there for one another and really bad puns.
Hooty...well...I suppose we share the fact that we both make up songs and are bored a lot...definitely not that we’re both owl tubes.....*nervous laughter*
Owlbert and I share the quiet helpfulness trait...plus we’re both adorable.
(Some of these go deeper than others but the point is there’s still a connection).
Goodness gracious I love this show.
I haven’t laughed at a show this hard since Good Omens last year.
I love when I can connect with characters. It makes me happy.

What are your thoughts on Loki and Thanos as a ship? I don’t ship them but I’ve seen enough people who do, and I’m not ship shaming anybody because we all have the right to ship whoever we want. I’m just curious as to why and, you know, if it has something to do with power play? Just love to hear your thoughts on this one
It’s not personally one of mine (in terms of the classic use of “ship” - I am invested in their relationship more broadly, in terms especially of its consequences), but I can understand why people do.
there’s like. crunchy trauma tied up in it, which makes for a very fun playground! I think it’s probably a combination of a few things - the power dynamics, the possibilities for nasty shit...because of his power level the options if you want Loki to be, like, overwhelmed by sheer force are pretty limited, and Thanos is one of those options.
I will say that I’m curious how many of the people who wrote Loki/Thanos also wrote Loki/Grandmaster. might be none! but I feel like there’s some overlap, to a certain extent, in the itch those two ships can scratch.
though also people come at ships from different perspectives and I could be totally misreading the room! idk, I don’t go here and often different people will ship the same ship for wildly different reasons - or the same person will ship something for multiple reasons.
but yeah, this is definitely one of those ships where I’m like “not my thing but I can absolutely see why other people might pick it up, because there’s just a bit of a dynamic there that I can get really into, under circumstances where I care more about the Thanos-positioned character.

this is a video game P5 post it is not serious do not worry
genuinely feel in my heart of hearts that thematically Makoto is the best fit for Ren McProtag and she makes so much sense with him that I figured it’d be easy enough to decide on her but I decided to peek a while ago and it turns out that despite literally the entire game up to this point she still wants to be a cop which just. doesn’t really make sense to me?? maybe I misread her story but I felt she was growing to care for others while also learning that authority isn’t always ~good and correct~ in a way that she’d then buck at the end of her storyline (not to mention that the PT are all about bucking authority to help people??)
so with the relationship question I’ve been conflicted bc while she still largely feels like she makes the most sense I just feel like that last bit is sort of a step back for her that doesn’t really click with how I saw her up to this point lol. Ann makes a lot of sense too but I felt Makoto really matched Ren up to this point (cuz like Ren does not feel the type to be big into cops lmao)
and as I intend to play again tonight or tomorrow (for the first time in too long oop) I sorta need to make up my mind between the two and it’s hard bc of all that I’ve said here like I adore Makoto as a character but that choice at the end really strikes me as weird while Ann is just as great with just a few small bits that don’t line up as well with Protag imo
admittedly tho with all that said I’ve also felt like all of the “main” options are like really solid and make sense to some level. Futaba’s is very cute while Haru seems very romantic but came in a bit too late, Kasumi’d probably be my third option but I don’t think u can go down her route till the extra content kicks in plus it’s more that Makoto and Ann felt to me as the ones that clicked the most with Mr. McProtag in ways the others didn’t if that makes sense
still not totally sure what to do tbh. Makoto’s like one meeting away from becoming his girlfriend while Ann is too but last time I played I don’t think she was available and again I feel the end of Makoto’s route is kinda goofy
but again. that said. I’m a multishipper and polythieves makes so much sense to me it hurts but u can’t romance multiple ppl without getting some cheating cutscene in a few months and also can’t romance any of the guys (boo) so like ultimately this doesn’t impact my own shipping preferences and ik it means very little in-game too I’m just very indecisive lol

Hello, Tumblr people. It’s a new year and I’m having a very navel-gazing moment. Btw is navel-gazing an international expression? It basically means that I’m self-obsessed. Still, maybe my experiences can give someone else an aha-moment?
I don’t think I’ve talked a lot about it here, but I’ve been through a process these last years where I’ve learned some new things about myself. I’ve always known that I have some “struggles,” but it has taken me decades to figure out why, and how to deal with it. I mean, I don’t have all the answers yet, but I’m getting there.
I’ve had struggles with overeating, feeling depressed, anxious, unfocused and forgetful, burned out, feeling dumb and socially awkward. I’ve been quite wobbly and insecure in relationships, too. And the thing is, I have finally figured out that I have ADHD. In danger of hanging everything on one explanation, I feel like a lot clicks into place, now that I know this.
Also, the irony is, that I’m a psychologist and well over 40, and hmmm.... how didn’t I figure this out before? I could probably say a lot about that, but I suppose I went under the radar because I was a girl that did well at school. And I’ve always thought that “this is just how I am,” and that it’s about my temperament/ attatchment style/ possible trauma reactions. And I’m not saying that those factors aren’t part of "my whole package”, but they don’t erase these things:
1. Since I was a tiny kid, I’ve always gotten this “flow” feeling whenever I’m doing something I love to do. I’m hyperfocused and can be very productive over long periods of time. When I’m like this, I forget everything else, and it can be hard to snap out of it and notice other things around me. I also can’t hear a word if you try to talk to me when I’m like this. Seriously. Not a word.
2. I am quite creative. I get a lot of ideas! Also, I like to create things, like stories, art, and stuff like that. Sometimes I get too many ideas and too little time to follow them up, though. Still, I suppose I prefer getting many ideas to not getting any.
3. I’m easily distracted, and can struggle to focus, especially on mundane tasks, but sometimes this also happens when I do stuff I love (mostly because of anxiety, because I fear to disappoint, see point 5). This is probably part of why  I forget things all the time. I try to armour myself with lists and alarms but I still forget things on a daily basis. Thank heavens that we have a code to our front door and not lock or keys.
4. Because of my interests (reading, psychology, history, stories, + +), I’ve become good at picking up what’s important in a text, or underlying messages when someone talk too me. When I’m focused, I can even be quite intuitive.  I’m especially good at connecting dots and seeing the whole picture (not so much the details). However, at other times, especially when I’m stressed, I’m bad at listening. I can also totally misread cues or not pick up details in conversations.
5. I feel a lot. On the positive side, that means I love my friends and family to pieces, and I get excited and happy about the smallest things. I empathise with others a lot. My family love how excited I get about everything, even when we’re watching a movie, or something. However, I also get easily frustrated, worried or hurt, too. Sometimes, my feelings become too much and I have picked up a ton of not-so-good strategies to handle it. Like avoidance. Smoking (not anymore, thank fuck). Escapism. Overeating. Sex. Procrastination. Luckily, I have some better strategies, too, like drawing, listening to music, talking to someone.
6. I struggle with relationships. People in my life probably don’t know how important they are to me, because I struggle to keep in touch and do stuff that maintain these relationships. I feel like I have a lot more to say about this, but I’ll have to come back to it.
7.  Even if I see myself as fairly intelligent and with a capacity to plan and think forward, I often act impulsively. A good thing about impulsivity is the fact that I get easily enthusiastic about new things and ideas. However, I also forget about possible consequenses to my actions. I say yes to a lot of things, for instance. This is also linked to the fact that I want to be good, and I want to help others when I can. I’m also very optimistic about what I can manage to do. I just... when I get overwhelmed for some reason, I often struggle to follow through.
8. I do not multitask, although I frequently try to. Because of all of my ideas. I struggle to prioritize, choose and make desisjons, especially under stress. Too many options and/ or the thoughts of all the possible outcomes overwhelm me.
9. Organizing. Sigh. This is a HUGE shame for me. I feel like I’ve always struggled to establish daily routines and keep a tidy home, something “everybody else” seem to manage just fine. It might be a paradox that I love to make lists, but rarely manage to follow those lists. Wait, of course, that’s quite logical. I need the outer structure, but struggle to follow it because it’s too much at once. I shouldn’t make lists that are longer than three bullet points. LOL, and here I am.
10. What is time management? I just... yeah, I don’t know where to start. Sometimes I’m a time pessimist, sometimes a time optimist. I try to compencate by setting clocks earlier etc. Also, I have this one thing I’m basically never late to, believe it or not: Appointments with my patients.
11. Which reminds me: I have some compensating strategies that take a lot of my energy. For instance, I give myself deadlines before the real deadline and sometimes that helps me get things done in time. Because I don’t want to bother people, I have a tendency to say I’m sorry for things I probably don’t need to apologise for. I am working hard to be more honest and tell people when I struggle, but my knee-jerk reaction is to say everything is fine. I try to hide it when I have forgotten something. I use self-irony so much it becomes quite self deprecating and damn, that’s a habit I struggle to quit. Well. These are some of the things I can think of.
12. All of this can be quite tiring, and this is probably partly how I ended up getting burned out at work.  I try to see both good and bad sides to all of these things, and I think I’m starting to see that this is something I can live with. Most of it has made me feel  like a failure and a bad person and my self image is not... good. My self critical thoughts lead to anxiety, which in turn leads to more avoidance, procrastination etc.
This is a circle I’m trying to break.
Luckily, I have also started to use medicine that helps me focus, and the meds also help me with my energy levels. Things are slowly getting better. The difference is unbelievable, to be honest, and I can’t believe how I managed without them (well, I managed on buckets of coffee and everything stimulating I could face, hah). I also have someone to talk to, now, which is very helpful. I’m slowly starting to figure out what I can manage.
Does some of this sound familiar? Well, if so, don’t be afraid to check out what it’s all about. I’ll never regret it, that’s for sure.

Quick Note & Glossary - Foreigner
(not the band)
I'd like to explain a little bit* of stuff for friends who are not familiar with C.J. Cherryh's s-f series, the one that starts with "Foreigner", if you're all confused about who the hell this Machigi guy I've been posting about lately and what's going on here.
* I'm totally lying. It's a lot.
TL;DR: the series is amazing and I highly recommend it. I will explain why below the cut because <sigh> as always with me, it's long.
Most of the stories take place on the earth of the atevi.
The atevi (singular: ateva) are the indigenous inhabitants of a planet in a star system Somewhere Out There. Hundreds of years ago, a human colony ship on its way to establish a colony in a known place got lost when something unexpected happened during travel through folded space. Eventually**, it ended up in the system of the atevi sun.
** Important other things happen that play into the politics of what the humans do next, and also later, in the series.
The humans realize that the only inhabitable planet in the system is already inhabited. The people there have reached their equivalent of the Steam Age. There is much argument as to what to do about this.
Ultimately***, a group of humans ends up on the planet.
*** I'm glossing over it, but it's important for Many Reasons.
At first, everything is great. The atevi (generally at least a head taller than your average human, with black skin and pointed ears, and golden eyes that, yes, pick up and amplify the light in low-light conditions and glow, like cats' eyes) and the humans appear to be getting along swimmingly. But it turns out that they are dangerously misreading each other, each assuming the other is wired like they are. They aren't. At their most fundamental levels, where it really counts, they are completely alien from one another, and while the humans have been handing over advanced technology to atevi under the mistaken impression that they are "friends", what they've actually been doing is destabilizing the atevi political and cultural landscape.
So the atevi go to war, during which they almost completely wipe the human settlement off the face of the earth.
Because those innate, wired-in, instinctive differences are so critically important, and because all of the languages of the atevi are really really really difficult (but the court language of the main political power in particular), an agreement is made between the atevi and humans: humans get their own enclave on a large island, and they'll stay there. There will be one, and only one, human who will be allowed by law to speak to the atevi (any atevi) in Ragi (the aforementioned language), and that is the paidhi -- the translator. This person will advise both the atevi and human governments and will be able (via veto power) to control the transfer of technology from humans to atevi in order to ensure that the rate is slow enough to allow atevi culture and politics to adapt to it while remaining stable.
The whole series is mostly from the point of view of Bren Cameron, who is the current paidhi, and deals with all of the things he has to deal with. I love him, because he is linguist and a diplomat, so when he gets into trouble, he armors and arms himself in words. He is not atevi, and that's what makes him useful to atevi -- he can see beyond their innate wiring and find angles and compromises that they might not have sussed out themselves (although, on the other hand, sometimes his own human wiring gets him into trouble too).
Some terms from Ragi (the lingua franca****, of the atevi)
**** Shut up, Max
aiji - ruler. Plural: aijiin. A gender-neutral term for the person in charge of an association (see below).
ateva - member of the sentient species of the world. Plural: atevi.
aishid - a close group of associates. Typically a lord will have four (4) bodyguards, who with the lord form the complete aishid unit of five (5).
ashidi'tat - association. An alliance of clans and/or sub-associations. On the world of the atevi, the most powerful association is the Western Ashidi'tat, led by Tabini-aiji. This is the atevi government that human government is bound, by law, to deal with (via the paidhi, see below). Machigi is the aiji of the Marid, an association of clans to the south, who for a great part of the series is responsible for a great deal of, shall we say inconvenience, for both Tabini and Bren (and everyone else).
paidhi - translator. Plural: paidhiin (although there's only supposed to be one. But as one would imagine, it does get complicated for Reasons as the series progresses). This is the human who, by law, is the single point of contact between human and atevi culture.
man'chi - attachment. Often defined as "loyalty", but that's a human word so it's not right, and it's much, much worse to try to define it as "friendship" (that sort of thing leads to wars). It is, in essence, a flocking instinct: an ateva's instinct to turn towards a leader. Most of the animal life on the world of the atevi experiences man'chi (it's not just the atevi). It is an instinct that all atevi have and feel it towards someone, with the exception of aijiin (who receive the man'chi of others, and it is that receiving of man'chi that binds them to duty) and unattached people who are the ateva equivalent of sociopaths. Because actual neural wiring is involved here, it is not at all a metaphor to say that aijiin are born, not made.
nadi - gender-neutral term of respect for non-nobles, a polite form of address. Plural: nadiin. Usually appended to the name (e.g., "Banichi-nadi").
nandi - gender-neutral term for a noble, an extremely polite form of address for the nobility. Plural: nandiin. Also usually appended to the name, but sometimes proceeds it (e.g., "Nand' Bren" or "Bren-nandi")
-ji - suffix of affection (e.g., "Banichi-ji").
A note on the Ragi language: atevi are hard-wired for math. This is part of what makes the language, especially the language used in court (which is absolutely necessary for diplomacy) so incredibly difficult. There are different pronouns and word-endings for different quantities of what's being talked about -- it's so rampant, in fact, that Bren discovers that he can do rapid mathematics in his head by simply thinking in Ragi. But as such, it is very, very, very rare for a human to ever become fluent, even after a lifetime of study. Bren Cameron is a truly extraordinary person in that he is.
Additionally, a deep deep feature of atevi culture (and this is mostly universal) is an understanding that, essentially, even numbers are unlucky and odd numbers are fortunate. An ateva will be very uncomfortable if presented with two options, for example -- they will be on edge, on a very deep psychological level, until a third option appears. The fact that human culture is often centered around duality is one of the many, many reasons why a paidhi is absolutely necessary.
