My favourite thing about Leia is how fucking soft she is.

Like she is a little lady. She speaks very gently. She cares so much. She’s protective and warm. She just smiles and looks so happy. With Luke. Like, only Luke.

In the movies, this is also the case, but it really is one of my favourite parts of the 2015 run of the comics. They’re like, Leia: “Luke is doing great” while Luke is in the background getting thrown through a wall.

Sana (I love Sana) says she’ll won’t take Leia to Nar Shaddaa (to Luke) for free and Leia immediately offers her credits. When Sana is like “nah, just give me Han” Leia immediately agrees, and like. It’s funny for a variety of reasons but my favourite one is that Leia is trading Han for the Chance of seeing Luke.

And like, the comics show Leia telling Luke that she supports him even though he has to leave and she is very sad about it. She’s super disappointed she doesn’t get to go on the long probably meant-to-be boring mission with him. She just wants to hang out with Luke and make sure he’s okay and try not to lose him in the first fifteen minutes (again) or fifteen minutes after finding him again (also again).

I mean, it isn’t just Leia, I fucking adore Chewbacca’s relationship with Luke because. “Who would be stupid enough to volunteer to go on a doomed rescue mission for Skywalker-“ and it’s Chewbacca, Chewbacca is stupid enough, Chewbacca has the ship idling in the hangar, Chewbacca has had a Luke Rescue Kit in the ship since Luke left a week ago, Chewbacca is so ready to go on a doomed, borderline suicidal rescue mission for Luke.

Chewbacca just beats up a bar full of people to get them to tell him where Luke is. Like, that’s amazing. It’s adorable. He makes C3PO come with him. A wonderful idea. Chewbacca eventually picks Luke up like Like is a big cat. My favourite panel of all time.

Chewbacca and Leia are both over there like “I’ve only had Luke for three and a half months and if anything happened to him, I would kill all of you to get enough blood to perform an ancient ritual to make him perfectly alright again and I would start with Han.”

Han, meanwhile, is over there like “rude. Understandable, but still. Super rude.”

And I just think how soft Leia is with Luke is really sweet and how soft Chewbacca is with Luke is really cute and how both of them are so sarcastic to Han for literally no reason other than that they Thrive with his annoyance-

It’s great. If nobody else gets the characters, the 2015 run comes the closest.

If I were to give Bi Han a Redemption arc, I would either have Tomas almost die and have Bi Han freak out and realizing he does actually care for them but he just has some anger issues

Okay, I need to know how bloodburn works in the GFFA. More specifically, I need to know about Shara Bey’s death due to bloodburn — did she have warning or did she die suddenly? Is it like some cancers where she and Kes would have known she was dying for weeks or months? Was the disease progressive? (Or, if we don’t know and it’s never been established, I’d like to know that as well.)

not that i was active here in the summer but that was the lowest of my art progress. i didnt do a lot of full pieces this year which is a little sad, but also im not gonna kick myself while im down; i did what i wanted and could, and thats more important

if you cant tell, i got into nu: carnival around august (maybe july? i made euri in may/june but didnt really kick into gear on him until a month or two later) and it all went downhill up from there ♫

i really should start showing you guys more of Newgold, though ... ive been so focused on euri and my little one-offs like Zookeeper and Love Knockout (am i naming my "one-shots"/stories that i dont know if fit newgold? yes), but i think if any of you are actually here for stories (especially of the fantasy genre, if not the Gay Ass Shit) youd love it. theres at least 5 years worth of worldbuilding & plot built up over daresay 20+ characters ?

anyways since ill probably be lazy about doing anything immediately feel free to shoot any asks about it. trust me if you get me started i wont shut up

I don't think comparing Kuai Liang in other timelines is a good comparison. For one, previous Lin Kuei were slaves of Sektor and brutalised in body and mind. They weren't Kuai's enemies willingly. Even then, Midway Kuai took years, maybe a decade to return and free them when Sektor was already weak. In NRS, he doesn't think of saving them till much later. Beating the Cyber Lin Kuei was easy because you just needed to kill Sektor.

MK1 Kuai is up against flesh and blood who chose to hurt him and his loved ones not because there was a program onto them. And he has been away for months now and only just getting some resources. He and Tomáš could do nothing. For now.

Comparing Kuai Liang to his previous incarnations, to me at least, seems like a natural thing, because to whom else should we compare him? To Hanzo, grieving the loss of his wife and son and extermination of the whole clan? After all MK1 Kuai Liang’s character arc is based on the younger Sub-Zero’s story from original and alternative timeline, just in a new way and with addition of different Scorpion vs Sub-Zero’s legacy to bear.

The Lin Kuei were raised from young age to be killers, the same as they are in new timeline, this time just under the blessing of good guys. Having no choice but continue father/family's tradition? Check. Having doubts about Lin Kuei's morals and goals and rejecting it? Check. Being hunted for leaving the clan? Check. Taking an action against "corrupted" Lin Kuei? Check.

(Also, those who hunted MK1 Kuai Liang too may not wish his death or harm, but they do as ordered, because obedience and loyalty is what they swear to Grandmaster and Kuai Liang choose on his own to not obey. Like, from their perspective, Scorpion is traitor while they are the good, loyal members and duty demands to take action against the traitor, the same as duty demanded from Kuai Liang to stand against Bi-Han. The Cyber Lin Kuei or new Lin Kuei are still just pawns in the war between Kuai Liang and the Grandmaster.)

And yes, I’m aware the new game is different, the same way an alternative timeline was to his origin, so I don’t expect a full copy of events. Especially since MK1 Kuai Liang is not a lone figure on the run against his former associates anymore. You say “he has been away for months now and only just getting some resources. He and Tomáš could do nothing. For now.”, but as the intro dialogues claim, he and Smoke aren’t hiding and doing nothing. They are active players in the war between Shirai Ryu and Lin Kuei, as they A) recruited and train their own army (clan members), B) try to hunt down Bi-Han themselves and C) promise to deal with Lin Kuei’s threat to Outworld and Earthrealm countless times. So if you say “MK1 Kuai is up against flesh and blood who chose to hurt him and his loved ones” then well, I don’t see any regret or restraint from his side either. He is ready to burn down Lin Kuei and reshape it to his liking and values, so fighting against his supposed people (blood ties?) doesn’t seem that troubling for any brother - except Tomas, who would want brothers to reconcile rather than fight to death. 

And let's not forget that Kuai Liang already assumed Cyrax and Sektor would support Bi-Han over him, but that does not explain how two warriors (so far not officially related to ruling family) could so easily “detrohizing” a legal heir. Especially, if he confronted Lin Kuei as Tomas thought he should after defeating and capturing Bi-Han in the main storyline. Kuai Liang being born Lin Kuei does not mean he must have that close and loving relationship with his people in the first place but he still has a legal claim to his homeland and father's legacy. So why there was no one to back him up besides Tomas? Though it is worth to note he blames Bi-Han for “corruption” of them more than members of Lin Kuei itself. But that is sadly one more thing not explained by NRS at all. At least for now. The same as with previous timeline, I think we could argue if Kuai Liang cares for Lin Kuei people as a whole or just for Lin Kuei as principle but I’m afraid we would need to wait for next game(s) to see how he interact with Lin Kuei beside Bi-Han (and Tomas). 

There is also a vital contradiction between story mode and Kuai Liang’s ending, as the letter states he and Tomas were hunted down by Lin Kuei right away after defeating Titan Shang Tsung while Liu Kang claims: 

"As you know, Bi-Han and his Lin Kuei have abandoned their roles as Earthrealm's guardians. His brother Kuai Liang has agreed to build a new clan, the Shirai Ryu, to take its place. I must go aid his efforts."

which raises a question, did Liu Kang aid him and provide protection when Kuai Liang and Tomas were at the most vulnerable against Lin Kuei’s wrath or not? Because the game and intro dialogues imply Scorpion has way more allies, resources, firepower and chance to strike back at Grandmaster than original Kuai Liang had.

Ultimately, each fan has their own expectations in regard to storyline, themes and characters’ development. Personally, mine haven't been met so far but I’m sincerely happy for anyone that enjoys the changes and I hope the expanded story will please them too. After all, we can always agree to disagree while having our own interpretations of source material 🙂

If Luke represents hope then Leia represents strength. Someone who lost her entire planet, her people, her culture, her home and her parents, yet kept fighting for what she believed in. She lost everything and had no-one, yet she was able to comfort a stranger when he lost a mentor later on in the same day.

so i googled my current favourite play that i'm absolutely obsessed with and ended up on the english wikipedia site bc my browser is set to english and. it's so bad. the fucking plot overview leaves out basically everything that happens ever except for the end result. several key figures aren't even mentioned. "this guy dies for freedom" well, yes, but actually no, plus you're implying his sacrifice is actually worth it. that's not true. in some other section a dude is mentioned who claims this play is basically star wars. that someone familiar with the play but not star wars could look at a star wars poster and tell you which characters are narratively similar/equal to characters of the play. i am baffled. i have never, not once in my life, ever seen someone be so wrong. dude must have read an entirely different play. i'm tempted to dig up the english version and read it just to see how fucking wrong he is. he is *so* incredibly wrong. jesus fuck. how could you possibly say that

Ray's After Ending is so funny because for a good chunk of it, most of the RFA members are knocked out by V's sleeping gas (Saeran is immune, Saeyoung isn't present bc he was kidnapped by his agency under his father's orders and MC wakes up in like an hour) but the game has a call feature where you can call the characters and it would be a waste if you couldn't use it bc the characters were unavailable so instead they have other people pick up the call (Jumin's driver picks up Jumin's phone, Jumin's father picks up Zen's phone, Yoosung's friends and mom pick up Yoosung's phone and Jaehee's coworkers pick up Jaehee's phone) and we do get to learn about the characters from outsider's point of view but it's so funny to me that these people are visiting their loved ones and suddenly the phone rings and they decide to just. answer it. and start talking to this stranger they've never met

Just realised my MK fics are mostly tagged as "General Audiences" but... is it a proper tagging? I mean, they are pretty violent at times, they aren't too gory but there's a lot of death and blood. Perhaps I could put them as "Teens and Up Audiences"?
