1) I’ll give you two from The Ticket to Tomorrow. Last sentence for the most recent chapter posted: (Chapter 18) If Vash wasn’t mistaken, it sounded like the hero merely said, “I'm Superman.”

And last sentence from the draft of the chapter I’m up to now: (Chapter 28) “Anyway, what’d we miss?” Lois asked, specifically looking toward Luida and not Jimmy.

It follows Shinichi after the downfall of the Black Organization and his rebuilding relationships with family and friends, especially the Detective Boys. Will he tell the DBs his secret or will the kids uncover the mystery all on their own?

I posted 5 chapters, totally just under 50k words. I of course left it on a cliffhanger and I still get a couple reviews and followers every year, so I have some motivation to finish it.

It’s obviously an oversimplification but the “small but strong woman” trope.

I love both Meryl Stryfe and Lois Lane. While Meryl only has the 3 adaptations, Lois’s evolution since 1938 has paved the path for complex female characters.

Lois has always had a ton of flaws, but damn if she isn’t powerful in her own right in a universes full of superhero’s. In MAWS we see her struggle with insecurities but is oozing with ambition and an insatiable desire to uncover any and all injustices throughout the city. She is determined to become a star reporter and has already had growth in such a short timeframe. She’s only going up from here. Plus, we’ll be seeing her (and Clark and Jimmy AND maybe Kara) in exactly a week!!!

There’s no doubt in my mind that the newest versions of Meryl and Lois were inspired by each other. Nightow is a huge western comics fan and it’s no coincidence Meryl is now a newspaper reporter. But of course, Meryl is still her own person. In TriStamp, she is still very young and naive but she similar plows in stating her passion is in humanitarianism and isn’t afraid to head out into the frontier, chasing outlaws. She’s not dumb though, she is quick to learn and knows there’s a bigger picture to the story than just a puff piece. There is a contrast between TriMax and TriStamp Meryl, but we are still only seeing her potential. By the second half of the season, she stands her ground, refusing to back down and run away. Just the small clip after ep 12 title card, we get a sneak peak of the iconic Derringer Meryl. I can’t wait to see her again in S2.

30) TBH, I only have the two fics!! 😅😅😅 So I’ll have to plug The Ticket to Tomorrow. It’s my Trigun Stampede x My Adventures with Superman crossover. It’s a longfic/epic with Multi-POV. Think of it almost as an epic fantasy or sci-fic. There’s action, adventure, humor, angst, fluff and more.

The idea for a crossover was rolling around in my head for a few months before I finally typed out my outline. I’ve started getting back into fandom and writing groups to keep me motivated. Definitely recommend both series!

Anyway, this reference is really funny and cute (and I think some episodes ago there was another reference but I'm not entirely sure for that one) since Detco also has a bunch of references to UY as well (this how I discovered Detco in the first place btw), so it's kind of like the UY remake is returning the favor :)

Sanma no Meitantei

Sanma no Meitantei (or “Great Detective Sanma”) is an interesting footnote in the history of early Japanese adventure games. It’s a crossroads of sorts between the release of detective-based murder mysteries inspired by Yuji Horii’s Portopia Renzoku Satsujin Jiken, and – of all things – the Japanese stand-up comedy scene of the mid-80s. This is clear from the get-go, since it stars renowned comedian Sanma Akashiya as the titular great detective, along with a host of famous double acts and comedians of the day who populate the game world.

Detective Conan chapter 57 : Inspector Megure trusting the kids because of the italian case (continuity!) and being disappointed in them is a nice touch.

Convenient point of the day : the police seems to be all powerful in Japan and allowed to do a complete research inside any house based whatever some kids told them.

So... This is an easy case, right ? We didn't see the two brothers in the same room, except when one was "asleep", and the body disappeared, so I guess the "sleepy" one is dead and the other played both roles.

Questions left : what was happening with the phone scene ? And how will the kids show the truth ?

And that's a wrap! There was great showings here for Sherlock, Shawn Spencer, Conan and Benoit Blanc! Shawn made this a really close race for a long while there against Sherlock, but the classic detective with countless iterations over the years pulls through. When the favorite Sherlock adaptation poll was ongoing this past week, I had a bunch of ideas for other detective related polls I wanted to throw out there and see people's takes on. Now with the Sherlock one wrapped up, here's a new one I'm really curious about!

I'm sure there will be a myriad of other detectives I haven't included on this list, either because I forgot, have never read/watched/played their media, or haven't even heard of it. There's no way I could hope to capture them all, especially without hitting the poll entry limit. If you have one you really love, you can still show love for them in the Other category! And tell us about them in your comments/reblogs. 😄

For the purposes of this poll, I'm keeping this list to characters who work as some sort of private/consulting/civilian detective or investigator, not for the police (Columbo, B99, etc.) or in some other field like medicine (such as House or Maomao.)

Shoutout to Nancy Drew, Sam Spade, Spenser, Phillip Marlowe, the Hardy Boys, Auguste Dupin, Nero Wolfe, the Dead Boy Detectives (still need to watch this), Bodkin, the Only Murders podcaster trio, Detective L, Charlotte Holmes and countless others that I couldn't fit here. Give them some love in the Other category!

“Say, Kudo-kun,” Hakuba says suddenly, like the absolute bastard Kaito knows him to be, “have you met my friend here?”

Shinichi pauses, noodles dangling from his chopsticks, and glances at Kaito. Not that he will ever admit it, but under those piercing blue eyes, set in a much larger face than he remembers, Kaito freezes for a brief moment. 

“Uh,” Shinichi licks his lips, looking a little bewildered as he looks at Hakuba and then Aoko, who is also waiting carefully for his answer, before cautiously saying, “yes?”

Ha! Kaito mentally pumps his fist, a grin threatening to break past his lips when Shinichi continues:

“Kuroba and I share a class—human psychology.” Shinichi nods at him. ���Right?”

Under Aoko’s and Hakuba’s triumphant gaze, he replies weakly, “Right.”

Whumptober Day 7: Only for Emergencies | Unconventional Weapon | Magic With a Cost | “It’s Us or Them”

Behold! A snippet from my most ambitious DCMK AU! I call it Parlor Tricks, and the idea is simply: KID disappears for five years, comes back with amnesia, and Shinichi is the first to find him. So ensues the mystery. So yeah! Please enjoy!

“KID!” Shinichi hisses, snatching the upper arm of said thief. “Don’t.”

“Why not?” Is the immediate answer, delivered with a gentle smile and softer voice, but there is no comfort in this man. His body is high-strung, speaking like an animal who has lost all desire to live. As though to accentuate this, he does not pull from Shinichi’s grasp but stares blankly at the hand holding him.

 Shinichi hates the docility, hates what KID has become. It makes his hold tighten.

 “Meitantei,” KID says, so gently. So lacking in his usual fight. “It’s us or them. And we both can’t pull ourselves from this. If anyone has to go, it will be me.”

 “Shut up.” Shinichi yanks the thief closer, pulling him away from the edge where enemy fire awaits. “I will get us out of this.”

 KID laughs. Not a true laugh, there is no humor there. It rings like KID is trying to convince himself that this is a game. That his head won’t be blown apart the second the assassin gets a good sight. Slowly, KID moves forward, until their foreheads are pushed together and KID’s eyes slip closed.

 “They’ve taken everything from me,” KID whispers, his voice finally starting to crumble under emotions left unearthed. “Please, don’t let them take you, too.”

 Stunned, Shinichi’s grip slackens and KID slips away, his mottled hand brushing briefly over Shinichi’s sleeve before he’s gone. By the time Shinichi realizes what has happened, the gunfire comes raining. He has enough sense not to jump out into the line of fire, but that does not mean he is content to wait until it is gone completely. He peaks around the corner, dreading the corpse he might find, but the room is empty save for the shower of bullets and casings. No body. The chances KID are still alive are not improbable.

 “Dispose of the shooter.” Is the first objective. There’s probably more enemy on the premises, but if he can take care of the ones with the higher ground, it will significantly raise their chances of survival. When the fire begins to slow, Shinichi moves.

 His shoes are switched on, preparing himself for a kick that will have to not only span a street’s width but simultaneously knock the shooter out of the game. The medical model of the human muscular system is his weapon of choice, having been torn apart during the shooting and the head detached. It might be silicone, but anything traveling at a high enough velocity will hurt if he gets the trajectory right. He only needs the shooter’s location. Based on the path of the bullets, he has a pretty good guess as to where.

 One foot propels himself forward, hopefully catching the shooter off guard by the sudden flying object to not shoot until it’s too late. His foot connects with the dismembered head, the projectile flying through the shattered window and to the other side with ease. He prays that it met its target as he follows the stares down to the lower levels.

 “You’d better be alive,” he mutters low in his chest. He takes the steps three at a time until he slips on something slick the last step. He just manages to catch himself before his head can hit anything. Even with the dark, he doesn’t need a light to know what he fell upon; he knows the smell of blood by now. Despite the anxiety bubbling in his chest, he switches the flashlight on his watch and guides it down to the body, praying it isn’t–

 The face of a man, one Shinichi does recognize but he is no acquaintance. It’s the face of the man who had come to him the night before, the one who wanted him to find a lost love. Why he is here or what could have driven someone to kill him, he’s unsure. He is sure, though, that it was not the shooter from before. Because the man is dead, his eyes frozen in wide horror, with only one bullet hole in the center of his forehead.

 KID doesn’t kill. Shinichi reminds himself, but he’s not so sure of that anymore. KID has changed, maybe his rules have also. Maybe the man KID once was died when he disappeared.

 Gunfire from down below. Shinichi picks himself up, completing the labyrinth of stairs and stepping onto the ground floor. He’s looking for any indication of life, be it noise or movement, anything that isn’t the drum of bullets. Something rustles to his left, but as he goes to check he is jerked back.

 “I told you, Meitantei,” KID whispers into his ear, suddenly sounding so much worse than he did before. Shinichi begins to worry he’s been shot. “I told you to stay.”

 “POLICE!” Oh, Shinichi knows that voice. Megure. Because this is right next door to a murder-suicide and of course he and the other detectives would be drawn by heavy gunfire. The shooting has stopped, perhaps scared by the police’s arrival, or maybe they’ve been apprehended. Sato’s heels click down the foyer.

 They’re going to find the body. Shinichi realizes, and remembers the one wrapped around him. They’re going to blame KID.

 KID doesn’t kill. He had to hope that was still true.

 Taking KID’s hand into his own, he jerked the thief into a side room just as the force hurried in. He shut the door, locked it, and then went about finding their exit. The police might spare him (though he would certainly get a stern lecture) he could not let KID take the fall. Not now, not when people were shooting at him.

 “Meitantei,” KID says, all gentle again. He’s inching his way over to the door. “It’s okay. I did what I had to–“

 “Did you kill that man?” Shinichi demands, pulling KID back to him.

 KID looks at him with confusion, then shakes his head.

 “Then you’re coming with me.”

 “Meitantei,” KID breathes, the same word punched when he’s jerked further from the door. “This isn’t how it’s meant to go.”

 Shinichi finds an openable window and checking the outside. The police seem to have caused a frenzy, leaving the side alley unguarded. As he pulls the latch free and checks again for threats. When he turns around, KID is still fixing him with that narrowed confusion.

 “Meintantei–“

 “You’ve been gone for five years,” Shinichi growls, taking a step into the alley. “You’re going to tell me why.”

“I have to go to London with Saguru this weekend,” Heiji grumbled to his friend. “He has to prove to the SG Center there that he’s actually in a Match situation and that he hasn’t been coerced by being a foreigner abroad.”

Conan looked up at Heiji, a look of contemplation on his face, and stared.

“What?” Heiji asked gruffly, not liking the way Conan was focused on him. It was Conan’s ‘murder deduction’ look. “What is it? That’s on your mind?”

“I am debating the pros and cons of stealing Hakuba from you,” Conan confided bluntly.
