Detective Conan chapter 57 : Inspector Megure trusting the kids because of the italian case (continuity!) and being disappointed in them is a nice touch.
Convenient point of the day : the police seems to be all powerful in Japan and allowed to do a complete research inside any house based whatever some kids told them.
So... This is an easy case, right ? We didn't see the two brothers in the same room, except when one was "asleep", and the body disappeared, so I guess the "sleepy" one is dead and the other played both roles.
Questions left : what was happening with the phone scene ? And how will the kids show the truth ?
#reading all detective conan#detective conan#detective conan chapter 57#meitantei conan#case closed#conan edogawa#detective boys#isn't it nice to read a mystery story and to have enough clues to try and guess the answer#and sometimes succeeding#unlike some other conan doyle's inspired works i won't mention

Hello, Sherlock Holmes adaptation writer. I have trapped you in this room. It is fully furnished and comfortable. On the table, you will notice a copy of A Scandal in Bohemia by Arthur Conan Doyle, of which redistribution is perfectly legal, as the work is in the public domain. You will notice it is rather thin. You have 24 hours to read the approximately 8,550 words in this story. To exit this room, all you must do is summarize the plot of the story without referring to Irene Adler as a seductress or implying she is attracted to Sherlock Holmes. Good luck.

Case Closed Volume 5 Manga Summary
Case Closed, also known as Detective Conan in Japan, is a popular manga series written and illustrated by Gosho Aoyama. The series has been serialized in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday since 1994 and has been adapted into an anime series, movies, and various spin-offs. The story follows the adventures of high school detective Shinichi Kudo, who is transformed into a child after being poisoned by a criminal organization. He then adopts the pseudonym "Conan Edogawa" and continues to solve crimes with the help of his friends and gadgets. In this article, we will be providing a summary of Case Closed manga volume 5.
Volume 5 of the manga covers the following cases:
Chapter 41-43: The Tragedy at the OK Corral
Shinichi and Ran are visiting a wild west theme park with her parents, Kogoro Mouri, and Eri Kisaki. They witness a reenactment of the shootout at the OK Corral, but things go awry when a real bullet is fired, killing one of the performers. The case becomes even more complicated when the victim is revealed to have been dead before the shot was fired.
Chapter 44-46: The Mysterious Height Difference of 20cm
Conan and his friends are attending a play featuring the famous detective Kogoro Akechi. During the performance, a murder takes place in the audience, and the prime suspect is a woman who was sitting next to Kogoro. The case takes a surprising turn when the suspect is found to be much taller than the eyewitness accounts suggest.
Chapter 47-49: The Ventriloquist's Illusion
Conan and his friends are invited to a dinner show by a famous ventriloquist, where a murder takes place during the performance. The suspect is the ventriloquist's estranged daughter, but the case becomes even more complex when it is revealed that the victim was not the intended target.
Chapter 50-52: The Bus Hijacking Case
Conan and his friends are on a bus tour when the bus is hijacked by a man with a bomb. The hijacker demands a ransom of 1 billion yen and threatens to blow up the bus if his demands are not met. Conan and his friends must find a way to outsmart the hijacker and save the passengers.
Chapter 53-55: The Locked Bathroom Murder Case
Conan and his friends are attending a wedding reception at a hotel when a murder takes place in one of the hotel rooms. The only clue is a locked bathroom door, which the victim was last seen entering. Conan must use his deduction skills to solve the case and catch the killer.
Chapter 56-57: The Alibi of the Black Dress
A woman is found murdered in a hotel room, and the prime suspect is her ex-boyfriend. However, the ex-boyfriend has an alibi, as he was attending a costume party at the time of the murder. Conan must find a way to prove the alibi false and catch the real killer.
Chapter 58-60: The Gunshot in the Sunflower Building
Conan and his friends are on their way to an aquarium when they witness a man being shot in a nearby building. The case becomes even more complicated when it is revealed that the victim was a former detective who had committed suicide two years prior. Conan must unravel the mystery behind the suicide and catch the killer.
Overall, volume 5 of Case Closed is packed with thrilling cases and unexpected plot twists. It showcases the brilliant deduction skills of the main character, Conan, as well as the support of his friends and allies. Each case is unique and keeps readers engaged from start to finish. Whether you are a fan of mystery

Detective Conan Chapters 117, 118, 119, 120, 121
PreReview Blurb: Episode 57 and 58 of the Anime. And deemed important in both lists. I’ve already seen the episode. and Actually went back to watch it after reading.
About the Case: Conan won some contest to some Sherlock Holmes sort of event. And of course, murder happens. The interesting elements of the this story is not the murder case. But the interactions between Harley Hartwell, I mean Heiji Hattori, and Conan. I suppose it’s because I’ve already it. But it’s Heiji that would be the reason I come back to reread or watch.
The motive of the killer was extremely selfish and over the top petty. Sounds like people were murdered cause someone got upset over some book someone wrote about Sherlock.
Enjoyment: 8/10. Mostly for Conan. He’s so cute and funny.
Favorite Moment: Every panel with Conan’s cute little face. Also, this made me laugh.
Relevance to the plot: IMPORTANT!
Heiji Hattori discovers Conan’s Secret.

100 reasons why I (personally) OTP Oumasai:
Warning: this is an extremely long post.
1. In the beginning of the game Shuichi normally didn't talk much during introductions, let alone be the one to start talking without being addressed to, but when Kokichi revealed his ultimate, he actually got curious and jumped in asking about his organization.
2. It is proven that he really was interested in it as he asks about it later in Kokichi's free time events.
3. Kokichi was interested in Shuichi at first because he was a detective and he wanted to see if he can see through his lies, but then got attached to him because "he couldn't figure him out".
4. Kokichi was probably amused by how nice he was to him (by actually approaching him and hanging out with him) compared to the others.
5. In chapter 2 Shuichi woke up to find Kokichi above him, saying that he's glad he's finally awake (makes me wonder if he got worried when Gonta came in with an unconscious Shuichi, and if he stayed by his side the whole time).
6. At multiple points in the game, Shuichi actually comments on how innocent Kokichi looks compared to his words, saying he can't get mad at him because he looks like he means no malice, then says "but that might just be another lie..."
7. During the free time events, Kokichi literally plays 100 rounds of Rock Paper Scissors with Shuichi because he wants to show him that he actually does not want him to die or to hurt him in general.
8. And probably because he genuinely has fun hanging out with him, even if it means playing the same game 100 times and getting the same result on purpose (and Shuichi did not stop either!)
9. The freaking fact that he hurt himself on purpose to lose and let Shuichi "win".
10. THE FREAKIN FACT SHUICHI IMMEDIATELY GOT WORRIED AND WENT TO TEND HIM FRANTICALLY.
11. The fact Kokichi was laughing "like he was having the time of his life" (as Shuichi said) the whole time Shuichi was taking care of him.
12. "I stole your heart so now I'm satisfied!"
13. The persona freakin vibes, the detective Conan freakin vibes. THE PHANTOM THIEF AU.
14. THEIR FREAKING DYNAMIC.
15. The fact that Kokichi's free time events were one big scheme to make Shuichi think about him.
16. When Kaede hung out with Kokichi, she got pissed in the end and the FTE ended with a warning from Kokichi. But with Shuichi, it ended with such a heartwarming note because Shuichi was patient with him and actually cared for him and worried about him.
17. Kokichi called Kaede and Rantaro his beloved once in chapter 1 after they were dead, but called Shuichi his beloved from chapter 2 onwards in front of him.
18. PROBABLY TO MAKE SURE THAT SHUICHI NEVER REALISES THAT HE MEANS IT CAUSE HE WILL THINK EVERYTHING HE SAYS IS A LIE.
19. Shuichi is the only one, and I repeat the only one who thinks twice about Kokichi's lies. And I quote him saying multiple times "he's lying about lying..."
20. Whenever Kokichi has evidence the one he always reaches out to is Shuichi. During trials and investigations.
21. Shuichi is onto him during the trials and acknowledges how much of a help he is. One time he said "maybe I should thank him later" but then backtracked.
22. In chapter 4 Kokichi referred to Shuichi with the phrase "Suki ni natta hito" "the person I fell in love with" while alone. and it's not even a bonus scene or event, the line is 100% canon and the player will come across it no matter what.
23.The👏angst👏starts👏in👏chapter👏four👏where👏kokichi👏decides👏to👏cut👏his👏ties👏with👏everyone👏including👏his👏beloved👏
24. But how does he do that? By trash talking the hell out of Shuichi's best friend in front of him, because he knows what pisses Shuichi off. Kokichi is not stupid, if he truly wanted Shuichi to trust him he wouldn't trash talk his friend. A part of him must have wanted Shuichi to be his ally, but it wasn’t possible after he told him to stop hanging around Kaito.
25. His clinginess in chapter 4 was probably him trying to make use of the time he has left with Shuichi before it all crashes down. That’s why he talked to him after the murder has happened. He realized he didn’t want Shuichi questioning his actions.
26. His worried face when he said he would cry if something happened to his Saihara chan.
27. The fact that their relationship wouldn’t be so pure because of the love hotel-
28. Kokichi was constantly worried about Kaito influencing Shuichi negatively and tried to drop him hints multiple times that sometimes believing in each other and working together might get them all killed.
29. The fact Kokichi freaking called Shuichi the Japanese sweet "Shumai" just like Kaito calls Maki "Harumaki" IS REALLY HECKIN ADORABLE AND VALID.
30. It just seems like they are both very interested in each other. Like they are each other's puzzle. They want to know more about each other.
31. And honestly, their relationship is just so very cute.
32. Kokichi's interest in Shuichi, says a lot about him.
33. And let's talk about something... Kokichi has always been treated like shit in the killing game by his friends. No one trusted him, everyone turned on him when Rantaro accused him of wanting to play the killing game because he suggested not doing the death road of despair. And he took all the blame to stop Kaede from basically torturing everyone by forcing them to try again and again. And he always brushed it off whenever they said anything mean to him. So why do you think he had such a strong reaction (for someone like Kokichi) when Shuichi said "you're alone and you always will be"?
34. Kokichi had planned to make Shuichi hate him cause he was planning to impersonate the mastermind, he needed to cut his ties with everyone. So when he did so with Shuichi, and with his best friend and probably the only person he can trust in the killing game getting killed. It became too much for him so he booked it out. Ah the angst.
35. Later in the game, Shuichi calls Kokichi his friend. And want do friends do? Stay by each other's side.
36. And then the salmon team ending comes along and wraps it all by making the ending theme "staying by each other's side"
37. "you want to know more about me right? Then you should stay by my side." "Kokichi's right... I want to know more about him."
38. In the ending of the FTE's Shuichi says "I reach out my hand to Kokichi, but he doesn't take it" but then at the end of the salmon team ending he says "I reach out and grasp the hand reached out to me"
39. "Kokichi can lie about a lot of things, but he can't lie about the warmth of his hand."
40. THE DATES ARE ADORABLE THEIR INTERACTIONS ARE ADORABLE THE FTES ARE ADORABLE THE SALMON TEAM ENDING IS ADORABLE.
41. "Maybe you and I were lovers in a past life!"
42. Pregame👏oumasai👏is👏beautiful👏 (when people don't make it abusive holy shit yall need Jesus)
43. "SAIHARA CHAN!" "SAIHARA CHAN!" "SASUGA SAIHARA CHAN!!!!" 😂
44. Kokichi saw Shuichi as himself in the love hotel, his ideal version of Shuichi is Shuichi himself, NO CHANGES.
45. And the game makes it pretty clear that he saw HIS beloved, by all the connections between stuff he said in the hotel and stuff he said out of the hotel.
46. In chapter 3 if you decide to talk to Kokichi before checking in on Kaito, There is a really interesting conversation between them. Kokichi saying he would rather have Kaede come back to life because it would make Shuichi happy.
47. He also says that he loves Shuichi and is always thinking about him, but then he says its a lie. But the funny thing is, in the love hotel he actually says the exact same thing- and he has no control over the love hotel, everything there is g e n u i n e.
48. Kokichi's love hotel scene had the most voiced lines, I wonder why? 👀
49. Kokichi literally pushed Shuichi onto a bed, in a freaking love hotel.
50. "that means, you can do anything you want to me, and that's the truth"
51. The thing that makes Kokichi's love hotel the most interesting isn't only because he literally was with the person he was in love with, but it's also because it is implied that Kokichi is playing Shuichi's ideal instead.
52. KOKICHI FREAKIN GOT OVERWHELMED OVER HIS OWN FEELINGS BECAUSE HE HAS A HARD TIME TRUSTING PEOPLE AND RAN AWAY FROM HIS OWN FANTASY OMFG.
53. "I caught myself wishing he would stay before I smothered the thought"
54. Kokichi has a hard time trusting people but had Shuichi labeled as "trustworthy?" on the whiteboard in his room.
55. His "will" was literally directed towards Shuichi, even Maki knew because she went to Shuichi and gave it to him saying "I think this is for you".
56. Shuichi was the one to clear Kokichi's name from ultimate despair.
57. He seemed really interested in what was going through Kokichi's head the entire game.
58. The fact that Kokichi helped Shuichi so much, with literally ending the game even after he's dead.
59. They would make an amazing investigation team together....
60. Their interactions in the drv3 comic anthology are really freaking precious.
61. They feel valid but not forced at the same time. Just showing that they get along really well, without any repetition.
62. The fact that the comic anthology confirmed that Shuichi tries to calm Kokichi down whenever he's fake crying even though he knows it's fake...
63. It reminds me of how in the game he stated multiple times "maybe I should make sure he's alright"
64. And that one section that focused on Shuichi and Kokichi, where Shuichi was trying to use a lie detector that Miu made to know when Kokichi is lying.
65. Kokichi let him use it on him for a while until Shuichi asked about the organization to get information XD
66. That just shows again how Shuichi is interested in Kokichi and his organization and wants to figure him out. The same way Kokichi finds him tricky and wants to figure HIM out.
67. They look really good together! The height difference for example! Its legit perfect, not too much and not too low.
68. Kokichi wearing mostly white while Shuichi wears mostly black. and that’s a bit interesting cause normally white is given to represent the pure and helpful characters while black is normally given to represent the dark “evil” characters. but here Kokichi who is trusted by no one and paints himself as the bad guy is wearing white, and Shuichi who everyone blindly believes in and trust is wearing black, makes you think, doesn’t it?
69. The dark blue and purple aesthetic...
70. Their characters are meant to parallel each other with the truth and lies theme, and the game makes that very clear to the player. but sometimes they step in each others territory, where Shuichi has to lie at least once in every trial to progress, and Kokichi hiding a lot of truths in his lies to make everyone confused and not trust him. to me this dynamic between them is very interesting.
71. The fanfictions and fanart are adorable fight me, some people can write their relationship so freakin well? What are you people???? Gods?? Because it sure seems like it.
72. It has the right amount of angst and fluff for a ship, it has everything I've wanted in a ship, I love it.
73. The thief and the detective... Lies and truths... Good shit.
74. Kokichi looks really freaking adorable in Shuichi's hat y'all.
75. Just imagine dice getting in trouble with the police and Shuichi finding a way to bail them out, since they trust the detective.
76. Kokichi, the embodiment of lying, CONSIDERED TO STOP WITH LYING BECAUSE HE WANTED TO GET CLOSER TO SHUICHI. WHY DOES NOBODY TALK ABOUT THIS.
77. "What should I do... If I wanna become closer to Shuichi... I probably shouldn't lie so much..."
78. When Shuichi said he will get to tolerate his lying Kokichi felt guilty at first with his despair sprite being shown.
79. But then got happy when he realized that meant that Shuichi will accept him for who he is. And when he saw that Shuichi understands him and can see through his lies anyway.
80. "Maybe I was born into this world just to meet you, Shuichi."
81. During Kokichi's FTE's they were playing games and spending time together right? Like the time they drank tea XD well during the love hotel Kokichi says "come, play with me, let's do a lot more together" and "I'll think of a better game for next time, so make sure you excite me too". Aka: Kokichi just told us his true feelings.
82. "I'm so glad I met someone who can truly understand me"
83. The fact that Kokichi is like a cat that constantly wants attention and keeps flirting with his beloved, notice me Saihara chan.
84. THEIR JP VOICES GO ALONG REALLY WELL TOGETHER WTF. I’ve also come to appreciate how Kokichi has the deeper voice in jp with Shuichi with the feminine lighter voice. but it’s the opposite in English.
85. It's kinda funny how Shuichi keeps trying to figure him out while Kokichi just keeps flirting with him 😂 probably making him even more confused.
86. To Kokichi who could predict everything, Shuichi's unpredictability fascinated him to the point he fell in love with him.
87. Unlike everyone, Shuichi is patient with Kokichi, but not too patient. He is the exact person Kokichi needs.
88. And it makes total sense why a trickster fell in love with a sweet detective.
89. "and I wanted your eyes to be on me..."
90. Kokichi deserves someone who would love him for being himself and its shown that Shuichi did fall for him in the salmon team.
91. SHUICHI'S BLUSH WHEN KOKICHI TOLD HIM THAT HE KNOWS HIS LIES NEVER BORED HIM.
92. Shuichi👏wants👏to👏know👏more👏about👏Kokichi👏
93. Kokichi👏wants👏to👏be👏Shuichi's👏everything👏
94. this is completely personal but I started off the game being confused about the ship, and became a hardcore supporter by the end of it. Which means its a heckin good ship if you ask me.
95. Pretty sure Shuichi is one of the only reasons for Kokichi to genuinely smile in a killing game.
96. This ship can make me cry from sadness because of the sad videos, or from happiness from fluffy fanfictions and fanart.
97. Kokichi is completely in love and is enamored by Shuichi it hurts. His love for Shuichi is valid, so freaking valid, 100% valid, more valid than my existence.
98. I love the bonus interactions between them hidden throughout the chapters, like the one where Kokichi tells Shuichi that everything he does is for everyone. It seems that he is only honest with Shuichi, but of course hides it as a lie.
99. Kokichi wanted Shuichi to join his organization, and called him interesting multiple times. Which is really important coming from someone like Kokichi who wasn't fond of most of the people in the killing game.
100. Their relationship is very realistic, it is focused on how two characters try their best to understand each other, how even someone like Kokichi can come to trust in someone and want someone to trust in him, how he wants that someone to be able to understand him. Kokichi went from being interested in Shuichi to falling in love with him (literally referring to him as the person he fell in love with, using the same phrase that Maki says to Kaito later on), in a freaking killing game. he forced himself to cut their ties and died thinking the only person he cared about hated him. while Shuichi started off interested but wary of Kokichi, tried reaching out to him but failed due to Kokichi pushing him away, to getting mad from him for making Gonta a murderer and trash talking Kaito when he seemed in a really bad condition (after getting punched by Kokichi too) to hitting cold hard realization to what Kokichi has been trying to do the whole game after his death. and then appreciating his help, using the clues he left behind for him, clearing his name, calling him a friend, and grieving his death with the rest of his friends who died in the killing game. He then uses everything Kokichi gave to him and taught him, ends up understanding Kokichi and his lies, and uses the tactic he taught him where he said “sometimes you win a game by not playing it” to end danganronpa. then you’re left wondering how things could’ve been different if Shuichi didn’t already have so much on his back and tried harder to reach out to Kokichi. you start wondering what could’ve happened if Kokichi didn’t push him away, you start thinking about all these possibilities. and then salmon team comes along and wraps everything up with a ribbon. putting direct throwbacks to what happened in the killing game and the free time events, Kokichi BEING the one to reach out to Shuichi, asking him to stay by his side. Their relationship is like one huge arc that starts the moment they met to their graduation in salmon team, and it leaves you with the fact that after they graduate they will stay together and learn more about each other, just like both of them wanted but couldn’t do in the killing game. if this isn’t a beautiful realistic relationship, I don’t know what is. Honestly, everything about this ship is so very beautiful, and I will support it with my life.

((Some thoughts about the Rum arc under the cut. (Mary, Kohji’s connections to the Akai/Sera family, Wakasa, and the possibility of either as Asaka for now).))
First, where the everloving HELL did Kohji hear the name “Rum”? During the attack? Some time before then? Who said it (or wrote it)? How did it come up?
Mary
Mary’s dialogue about the demon in the dark is a red herring and there’s no way for her to be Rum. Rum’s in good standing with the Org. and being an APTX victim is instantly the mark of an enemy of the Org. It means an attempted murder victim or an attempt at suicide and needing to flee the Org. (The Org. still doesn’t know about the shrinking effect, just Vermouth and a few defectors.)
She also doesn’t meet the “lacking an eye” description associated with Rum, having perfectly functional eyes, not even getting into the alcohol codename pattern...
Kohji’s family situation
Kohji is stated to be something ambiguous in relation to Shuukichi. According to the translators, the term Shuukichi uses means either brother-in-law or step-brother. However, we have a bit of a timeline that makes things a bit clearer. The case happened 17 years prior, when Kohji was 21 or so. Shuichi is currently 31 or 32, according to Aoyama. 17 years ago, he would have been 14 or 15. I mention this because a sibling-in-law is either your sibling’s spouse or the sibling of your spouse. This can’t be the case, because Shuichi and Shuukichi are too young to marry at that point and they haven’t married yet (though not for lack of trying on Shuukichi’s part). Kohji cannot be a brother-in-law to them.
As for step-siblings, that gets a bit murky, since a step-sibling is the child from a previous relationship of one of the parents brought into the newer family. Kohji having another surname from the rest could imply that, though it would raise the question of if he was Tsutomu’s or Mary’s son alone. If the former, that would mean Kohji took on his mother’s surname. If the latter, he took his father’s surname. (Mary didn’t change her name when marrying, as shown in Shuukichi’s marriage forms.)
As for the idea of him being adopted, I wouldn’t entirely rule it out just yet. Were he alive, he would be 38 at the time of the series. And, given the math I did on Mary’s likely age at the time of the incident (see below), she’d be 51-57 years old now, ignoring her current poisoning. She would have to have been 13-19 when Kohji was born. We do not know Tsutomu’s age, so he could be Tsutomu’s child brought over from a previous relationship. Or else Kohji was adopted when he was a bit older. Or Mary’s timeline stuff would be on the higher end of her possible ages, where she had Kohji at 18-19, Shuichi at 25 or so, and is 56 or 57 currently.
Someone else over on one of the forums commented at one point the theory that Tsutomu was Kohji’s body double and murdered, due to the prominent cheekbones. Aside from that making no sense timeline-wise, I think a more likely explanation is that Kohji is Tsutomu’s son. (Gosho draws families as having some similar traits, such as unique eye patterns or facial features.)
Regardless, I am curious of Kohji’s citizenship status, since that would help clear up some jurisdiction questions and could help narrow down which agency Tsutomu worked for. A murder in the US would fall under US jurisdiction, unless involving a non-US citizen, if I recall.
Wakasa
Wakasa’s unlikely to be Rum. Aside from how Rum fits the male alcohol codename pattern and the consistent description of him being a man, some of the details don’t quite add up. The Organization is incredibly careful about the appearance of the name Asaca, and her fake name is literally a few letters away from Kohji’s message- Asaka Rum. They would never, ever, EVER have the agent connected with that case do something like that. Especially not their second in command when his screw-up there is something from 17 years ago that they still go out of their way to hide and hunt down any possibility of Asaca.
The idea I’ve seen floating around, that Wakasa is Vermouth, is unlikely in my opinion. For Wakasa, the idea of prosthetics and intentionally blinding someone is very personal and makes her react incredibly badly, things likely connected to Kohji’s murder/Rum. Vermouth, meanwhile, is very flippant and mostly relaxed during the Asaca concert hall case, offering to help Amuro, and the reason for her showing up seems to be to make sure Conan and Ran are safe and that Amuro won’t target them in some way. (She is unaware of him being PSB and thinks he’s a loyal Org. member.)
On top of that, Wakasa’s clearly observing Kudo. Vermouth already knows that he’s a great detective and knows who he is and what happened to him. Wakasa seems, instead, intent on testing him and figuring out his skills. Vermouth also lacks the quick detective-like thinking that Wakasa appears to have.
Asaka
As for who is Asaka, I think both Mary and Wakasa are likely candidates:
1. Both are good at close-quarters fighting. However, their styles are a bit different. Mary fights normally, while Wakasa often feigns clumsiness and accidents to do what needs to be done, be it fighting or giving hints. 2. Both are linked to the case from 17 years ago with Kohji. Mary through a family relationship, Wakasa marking herself as such with her pseudonym. 3. One’s using a clear pseudonym and the other’s in near-total hiding.
Now here’s where things get murky...
Mary’s caution is more like Subaru’s assessment of Asaka- avoids being seen, disappearing without a trace, CAUTIOUS as hell.
(However, this comes across as a red herring for Mary to be seen as suspicious by the audience. Especially since Conan’s idea that Asaka is Rum is also a few chapters near that dialogue chronologically, if I recall.)
Wakasa, on the other hand, is a bit more mixed in terms of caution. Her pseudonym is clearly attention-getting when talking about the Org., yet she reacts like she didn’t want to be photographed or mentioned in the papers at all.
Their links to the case are different. In the case of Mary, she would have been either his step-mother, mother, or adoptive mother. In the case of Wakasa, Kuroda speculates either a girlfriend or sister, since the intentional pseudonyms make it unclear.
Mary is bored by the soul detective’s reasoning for Asaca being a woman- the use of a mirror. Makes sense, since anyone would find a mirror useful if they were looking behind them. However, with her likely background, she probably just knows this as a general thing, not necessarily her having been there.
The one picture we have of Asaka shows the person having dark, longer hair, which points more toward either Wakasa or Iori, not Mary.
Wakasa, assuming her age is correct, would have been about 20 during the time of the Kohji’s murder. Mary’s age is ambiguous, but given Gosho’s general trends, she would’ve had Shuichi at 20-25. Fourteen to fifteen years later (when Kohji’s murder occurred), she would be anywhere from 34-40. Depending on location/organization/etc., bodyguards must be at least 18-21, but many prefer bodyguards who are over 25.
If Mary is Asaka, that raises questions about what Tsutomu knew of the case beforehand (since it could easily be their child whom she failed to protect), what Mary knew of Rum, or if she knew the details of Kohji’s murder directly. Also, how would that conversation work out with them, since Amanda offered Kohji her bodyguard Asaka, only for it to be his mom/stepmom? (That’d be hilarious, I’ll admit.)
If Wakasa is Asaka, this raises questions about her use of such a pseudonym. It’s too blatantly an allusion to Asaca and Rum, while Asaca’s remained hidden so far, unless bringing up that case from the past made her come forward now to get some resolution?
What’s also interesting is that Wakita and Wakasa both start getting close to Kogoro and Conan so soon after the Soul Detective arc. This mirrors Mary’s warning that the Org. will come around once they hear the name Kohji Haneda drudged up.
However, I am not saying with certainty that either one could be Asaka. They could both just be very close to Kohji on a personal level and that could throw things off. We are also operating on incomplete information.
A final note, comparing and contrasting the two, Mary and Wakasa are different in their approaches when it comes to their contact with Conan. Mary is careful, has an intermediary (Masumi), and wants him to come to her. However, she later seems to shut down this idea due to his actions when dealing with her. She’s very slow to trust, that much is apparent.
Meanwhile, Wakasa’s directly approaching Conan on different pretenses. It’s hard to tell what’s going on with her, but she’s using various excuses to try to get him alone to talk with him, such as spilling paint on the tiger and later saying how she wants to drop the kids off one by one.

Eh ga taunya, ketemu artikel yg lbh menarik. Yuk disimak..
1. Professor Agasa
6. Vermouth alias Chris Vineyard
But, I think it make sense enough when we know Kaito is a magician. Reason doesn’t need anymoore… Tidak perlu penjelasan apa-apa kan kalau kita menghadapi pesulap? :)
9. Irish
10. Sera Masumi
Sera Masumi, a transfer student from America.
11. Okiya Subaru
I won’t tell you completely who Okiya Subaru is..
12. Lupin the 3 and the Gang
Yap, that’s all.

JQM Literary Chat Welcomes MARK ROMAIN
Tell us about yourself:
Okay, so my name’s Mark Romain and I’m a 57-year-old retired Metropolitan Police homicide detective from London, England. My wife and I live in Essex, which is one of the Home Counties surrounding London. We have two grown up children and a grandchild called Archie. As a family, we have three English Bull Terriers and a very bossy miniature Dachshund called Weenie who seems to think that she runs the house!
I’ve always been a voracious reader. Even as a kid, I would devour books one after the other. For as long as I could remember I had promised myself that, one day, I would find the time to write a novel. So, when I retired in 2015, I finally decided that it was time to stop procrastinating and actually get on with it! This resulted in me writing the first book in my DCI Tyler Thriller series, Jack’s Back.
Tell us about your book:
Jack’s Back is a gritty London Noir crime thriller. When a woman’s mutilated body is discovered on a London building site, along with a taunting message written in her own blood, it quickly becomes apparent to DCI Jack Tyler that he’s witnessing the birth of a serial killer who whose rampage will escalate unless he is stopped quickly. It’s an action-packed whodunit full of twists and turns and I am very proud of it.
The second book in the series, Unlawfully At Large, was released on Amazon on 31st March 2020.
What influenced you to write your current genre?
Well, I’ve always loved mysteries and suspense thrillers, and as a former homicide investigator it just made sense to combine what I knew with what I loved, and that’s how I came to be writing crime thrillers.
Who are your favorite authors?
I have so many. Alistair MacLean and Agatha Christie are great. I love the Len Deighton, Dan Brown and Lee Childs books. I think the work of Stuart MacBride, Mark Billingham and Peter James is first class.
What are your favorite books?
Wow! That’s such a tough question. I don’t think I have a stand out winner as such. I tend to have favourite books from different times in my life. When I was a kid, for instance, I adored the Tarzan series by Edgar Rice Burroughs and the Conan adventures by Robert E. Howard. They were so cleverly written, and those guys really knew how to build the suspense and would invariably end a chapter on a cliff hanger.
At the moment, I’m very much into the crime thriller stuff, although I also love a bit of escapism. The Harry Potter books were wonderful, as is a very amusing YA book called Timothy Williams – Demon Hunter by Indie author, Iestyn Long.
Who are your favorite literary characters?
Let’s start off with the great Sherlock Holmes. The man is a deductive genius with an analytical mind that would put most computers to shame. Hetakes on the greatest criminal masterminds in the class-divided world of Victorian London and beats them with ease, yet he struggles to cope with boredom and constantly battles a drug habit that is more dangerous to him than any of his adversaries.
My second choice is James Bond. I grew up watching Bond on the big screen, mesmerized by the flash cars, snazzy suits, stunning scenery, beautiful women and brilliant gadgets. However, it wasn’t until I reached my late teens that I actually started reading the novels. If I’m honest, I think the films are generally much better than the Fleming books they were based on. That said, the Bond who jumps out of the pages is such an interesting character, and he was penned in a way that made him gritty and edgy, yet glamorous and charming all at the same time. He was way ahead of his time and he was the man my nine-year old self wanted to be!
Lastly, I’m going to pick Jeeves and Wooster. Bertie Wooster unashamedly lives life to the full and certainly knows how to enjoy himself! He is a wonderful example to anyone who takes it all a bit too seriously.Luckily for dimwitted Bertie, whatever mess he gets himself into, his highly competent valet, Reginald Jeeves is always on hand to save the day with a degree of stoicism that is rarely seen these days. Worlds apart, they are strangely compatible and a pleasure to read.
Where can we go to learn more about you and your literary works?
The best place to go is my website www.markromain.com. There, you can find out all about me and my books, those that have already been published and those that are coming soon, and you can even download a free DCI Tyler novella at the click of a button! You can also find me on Facebook under Mark Romain – Author.
