DATV — The Musical Angel🪕

(Very young Alba de Riva/Rook [AKA Smalba QWQ]) My first attempt at using this media in… 7-8 years lmao I hated it but the result is cute <3 (Oil Pastel, A3 format)

WIPs & the original this is based on⤵

Based on Giovanni Battista di Jacopo (known as Rosso Fiorentino)'s oil painting made in 1521. It's a fragment of a bigger artwork for a lost altarpiece <3

I started with ocre, since I knew more of the piece would be in that colour so it was a nice base to start mixing and layering other shades. I mainly used red, brow and a greenish teal, since those are his colours ♥

It was tedious to work with oil pastel because:

I never use that media.

It's very messy.

It's not very precise and you know how much I love having control on my strokes. But I'm glad I've at least tried. It was fun in a very chaotic way, I guess XD

The main reason I wanted to redraw this piece with was because of it's iconography. That painting of a candid child, unconfidently playing the lute, looking so small in comparison, especially with that dark background surrounding them. As if the instrument was an escape for the little child… ♥

The Whole Album is so good, but I felt that "Would You Fall In Love with Me Again" Took the cake as the song from the Album to get an on Release Artpiece from me

This whole journey has been amazing, it's bittersweet to see EPIC reach its end, but i'm glad it ended so happily (in the song, RIP IRL Ithaca)

okay so i've been thinking about the sleeping quarters/bathroom situation on the tulpar for a minute and i think it'd be fun if they had communal bathrooms for Efficiency or whatever, but separated by gender because that seems typical, so anya gets a huge bathroom all to herself where she can just. vibe in the morning while the guys are busy doing their thing <3 so i drew that <3

I occasionally encourage folks who are familiar with Neon Genesis Evangelion only by reputation to give its title theme a listen, because given both the show's reputation and the fact that the song in question is called "Cruel Angel's Thesis", I guarantee you it doesn't sound like what you're expecting.
