do you think Falin's chimerism would affect her lifespan and behaviors? or just her body? maybe she can make more animalistic noises or has vague dragon-like instincts?
that’s a really good question! I think we could probably figure this out by taking a look at what we know about Falin, what we know about red dragons, whether these things would apply to Falin, and go from there.
The obvious external changes Falin has are: her eyes, her teeth, and her feathers.
It’s hard to pin down what Falin is like! Throughout the duration of the manga, she wasn’t really a character so much as a plot device. We have almost nothing told from her point of view, and the majority of her unbiased (as in, we’re seeing her through a neutral lens and not another character’s perception of her) characterization is from the post-canon omake.
Even Falin believes that her wanderlust might come from her dragon side, but she's not sure. Personally, I think it’d make a lot of sense if it kind of does, in the sense that she has 20/20 vision now, haha! For most of her life, she could probably only see clearly within a relatively small sphere surrounding her, and now she can see everything. She can look up and around freely in a way she couldn’t before. Fuck man, if I had magic lasik I’d probably go out more too.
Some other quirks that are really unclear whether it’s typical for Falin or chimera-influenced:
she enters rooms through windows, sometimes. And given the leaves in her hair, I think it’s reasonable to assume this is not the first floor 💀 But who knows! Maybe that’s not new for Falin.
She points out that Laios’s scent could deter monsters. Maybe she has enhanced smell. But again, it isn’t unreasonable to think this is something she would have said before. (I think even Chilchuck and Izutsumi, whose senses of smell are enhanced, can’t identify scents well. Kuro, however, can.)
VIOLENCE! But again, we’ve seen her beat shit with her staff before, and she also used to wield a flail. It IS a trait for red dragons to fight any large threat, so if anything, she’s got even better monster fighting instincts than before. I don't think this would carry over to people. Falin has always been better with people, and I'm personally not a fan of seeing her depicted as territorial or possessive. Marcille is already the possessive one, and didn't need dragon blood to be like that.
Ultimately, I don't think her dragon traits extend much farther beyond this. Especially when you consider How Little the dragon is represented as in her conscience.
it's not like it's a 50/50 split. She's like a person with a dragon ratatouille. I don't think she'd be able to make dragon noises. I don't think her body is built for that. I know there's like, a set list of tropey characteristics that are given to almost every non-human character in fiction. and sure that's FINE but they tend not to be especially personalized to the character, and tend to just be an excuse to write them OOC. Like, sure, dragons may have instincts regarding sleep habits, hunting, courting, raising young, etc etc, but so do humans! And we don't compulsively act on every instinctual whim we have. I don't see why it'd be any harder for her new dragon instincts.
If anything, I think she'd feel more affected by the fact that she has part of the demon in her.
I don't think Falin's in any sort of trouble. All the demon was was a way to communicate with people. Here, it's representing Falin's tether to the infinite realm, to mana itself. The winged lion no longer has the desire to consume anymore because, yknow, Laios has that now. This is very likely why she no longer needs to chant to cast magic.
But what else does this mean for her? She already had unusually high reserves of mana + an innate connection with spirits, but is her mana essentially limitless now? How would that affect her lifespan? I'm leaning towards, it wouldn't really?? But is she immune to mana sickness now? Is it more like her magic is just sort of amplified like it would be in a dungeon?
We can infer that having more mana doesn't increase your lifespan, because-- while elves and gnomes have both naturally high levels of mana and longer lifespans-- dwarves live longer but have lowest levels of mana of all.
So to answer your question! Maybe a little bit?? But I don't think she'd change a whole lot.

Not sure if it’s like the moon, season, or what but here I am writing AGAIN! Yay🥳 Anywho, here’s more for our Daddiest Kaiju Officer Kafka because I am now reading the manga because I am so down bad and so invested in this story!! As always this is a fem!reader but anyone can enjoy!
MDNI 18+
“Oooh fuck, Kafka!” Needless to say it was a great time for everyone to be at the training grounds right now. If anyone were around they would hear the obnoxious noises and vulgar comments being ripped out of your throat as your back hit the wall over and over from your boyfriend’s harsh thrusts.
“God baby, you feel so good. You bein’ a good girl for your handsome officer yeah?” Again he thrusts his fat cock up into your already sopping wet pussy. You give out a guttural moan hearing the squelch between your thighs which were burning trying to keep purchase on your boyfriend’s hips.
You could tell he was getting close by the way his large hands gripped your ass harder and his hips moved at an even faster pace- man has inhuman powers ya know he’s gotta put them to good use.
“A-aah! K-Kafka, baby, I can’t! I can’t anymore-“ he hushes you and kisses your already bruised lips in a passionate embrace attempting to calm you before he completely ruins you for the third time today. “Cmon Princess, I know you can take it. You fit my cock so well, no one else can do that. Cum f’me doll.” And with that you drench his awaiting cock in your juices as he fills you with his seed.
He rests his forehead on yours as the two of you catch your breath. “Damn mama, that was the best one yet. Hope nobody decided to head back early haha” he chuckles with that big goofy grin.
That night, however, when the boys were hanging out poor Ichikawa hardly said a word to his friends. He was never taking a training break to look for Kafka again.

well you guys really called my bluff on this one, haha. I have a lot to say on the topic so this will probably turn into a long post but the answer really depends on this: what interests you about astro boy, pluto, and the franchise/tezuka's body of work as a whole? what do you want out of this experience?
if you're just looking for places to read/watch these things and that's it, I'll put some links here at the top so you don't have to dig through this whole mess.
you can read astro boy (original manga) here (there are occasionally missing pages on this website, if/when you run into those you can switch to this one which is harder to navigate but complete)
you can watch/download the 2003 anime (english sub) here
you can read naoki urasawa's pluto here
so you're interested in astro boy but aren't sure where to start: my opinion as someone whose point of view you respect for some reason
it didn't occur to me until recently that for a lot of people who follow me, your cultural touchstone for the concept of astro boy is most likely to be the 2009 american movie. I didn't watch that as a kid, I was 14 when it came out and fully into my "anime is superior to western animation" phase, but I've watched it now and well.... if you like it that's great! I did not. I'm not going to dwell on that, but I think it's worth noting that whatever your opinion on it as a movie is I don't really think it's a good representation of astro boy and its themes. moving on.
the manga
if you want the pure, unfiltered astro boy experience, this is as close as you're gonna get. it's gonna be a little haphazard though because the dark horse publication, which is probably the only way you're gonna find to read it in english, does not order the stories chronologically. I don't think that really matters because there's not a lot of continuity so as long as you understand the basic premise you can read in whatever order you want, and this puts a lot of really good stories first anyway so it's nice too. personally as far as all versions of astro boy proper go, the manga is my favorite. it's not always an easy read, for reasons I'll get into in a moment, and it's not always good either. some stories are phenomenal, some are just plain silly, and some are downright terrible. but given how long it ran for and how consistently and without breaks tezuka worked on not just it but all his other manga too I think that's too be expected. but even the bad ones I think are worth a look! this is the history of manga as a medium right here! and I love the manga, it's fun, funny, wonderfully drawn, compelling, shockingly dark at times, and just a fascinating read for those with an interest in classic comics.
all that said, I think it would be irresponsible of me to recommend it without also including a big fat disclaimer, which dark horse was kind enough to put at the front of the book.
if you have an interest or familiarity with classic/vintage manga, anime, comics, and cartoons, you probably saw this coming, but some of this shit gets REAL racist, most often in terms of how people are drawn. some of tezuka's biggest inspirations were the rubberhose american cartoons of the 20s and 30s, and all that implies. for whatever the opinion of a white american is worth, based on his writing I really do believe he had good intentions- he consistently speaks out against racism and bigotry in general, in astro boy especially. you can tell he was very passionate about it. but I'm not gonna defend the guy either, you can't be drawing people like that, even if it was the 40s-80s. a lot of the experience of getting into tezuka is reading a story where the moral is "racism is evil! end discrimination!" accompanied by straight up racial caricatures in the art. it's baffling and infuriating. if I could I would travel back in time and hire the man a sensitivity reader, but I can't, and he's been dead for 35 years so we'll never know what he would've done about it today. all we can do is take it as an opportunity to learn and do better. but, if all that puts you off getting into the manga or the series at large, I don't blame you!
with that out of the way, the size of the manga might intimidate you. there's a lot of it. lucky for you you don't have to read all of it if you don't want to! I've read the entire thing because I'm a completionist at heart, but I've had several friends come to me for a smaller and more manageable reading list, which is as follows:
(stars for my personal favorites, grimaces for "I did enjoy this one and I think it's worth reading but I don't feel good about recommending it". I also think "the artificial sun" and "atlas" are important reads if you're interested in the history of the franchise because they get referenced a lot, but they are VERY racist and I don't think theyre good enough overall to make them worth putting on the list despite that.)
that was long. next up:
the 2003 anime
I am not quite done watching this one but I'm pretty close so I feel confident in saying: on the whole, it's great! it looks absolutely fantastic for a tv anime from that era, the character and world design is top-notch, and overall it does a really good job adapting the best and most important parts of the manga into a continuous story, although it softens the blow of the darker moments quite a bit (which might be a good thing for you, depending on your tastes). it's pretty beloved by western fans, and for good reason.
I do have my issues with it, for one this might not be a popular opinion but I think they majorly screwed up on adapting the "greatest robot on earth" arc (my favorite arc btw, yes I might be salty), for another they really sand the edges off of uran's character compared to the manga and make her a lot more meek and girly. but that's just my opinion and if this show is the only one you've watched you wouldnt know that anyway. so don't let that deter you if you're interested, you'll be missing out on a pretty fantastic kids show.
so, if you're looking to really dive chest-first into astro boy as a franchise and understand all there is to know: maybe don't start with this one. it changes a lot from the source material and kind of does its own thing. but if you're just looking for a good story thats fun to watch and total eye candy, go nuts!
pluto
pluto by naoki urasawa is an adaptation/reimagining of astro boy's most famous and beloved arc, "the greatest robot on earth". it's also what got me into the franchise and one of my favorite manga ever! pluto reinvents the story as a detective thriller set in the aftermath of what is effectively, and obviously, the iraq war. it's brutal and harrowing, and beautiful and cathartic and hopeful. to me it is the gold standard for "dark and gritty reboot of a children's story" because urasawa adores tezuka and respects the original version, which was always a dark tragedy anyway, just presented differently. you might have seen pluto got an anime adaptation last year as well. I've watched it, it's pretty good! it doesn't change all that much (I don't like the few things they DID change but whatever) but I just think urasawa's artwork, paneling, and pacing are completely unmatched so I'd recommend the manga first. I'm not gonna be that asshole who insists you gotta read the manga over the anime though, if anime is easier for you you're better off having experienced pluto that way than not at all.
(if you ARE interested in both astro boy and pluto and are considering which to get into first, it's important to know that reading the arc pluto is based on will spoil a loooooot of things about the story. so weigh the pros and cons of that before making a decision!)
so, that's basically what I have to say. I haven't watched the 60s or 80s anime adaptations so I can't give insight on those, and I'm by no means an expert on any of this. I only started reading the original manga like three months ago and before that my memories of the other stuff was pretty faded, before I revisited it. if you're interested though I hope this helps, and I hope you enjoy yourself if you decide to take the leap! it's kind of a rabbit hole. I did not know what I was getting into when I decided to reread pluto, but I'm sure glad I did.
if you have any other questions about my personal opinions, feel free to shoot me an ask as well!

Closing Manga Thoughts
I just deleted a long vent post about every single one of my feelings about the end of the podcast and the manga being over. Except not really over because it looks like there's a lot more interest in a physical edition than I was expecting. Hopefully I'll see y'all in the preorders in a couple weeks once I figure out how expensive this will be to make and from there how much I want to charge.
Anyways. Please humour me for a quick moment while I make a big deal out of my thing because it might look like sixteen goofy little drawings in boxes every other week, but it's been a really big deal for me over the last year and a half. I've decided all I really want to say about the end of the manga is thank you for being a fandom I was comfortable sharing something like this with. When I first got into DnDads I had never shared fanart anywhere and I had been fallen off the creative train for a while. So thank you for being here, for engaging with the manga because without that engagement I wouldn't have bothered to see this through to the end. Thank you for allowing me to foster an interest in making comics.
I feel really peaceful now that it's over. It's hard to explain, but I was always very anxious about if people would still be interested in the next pages, if I was wasting my time, if I had phoned it in and should have tried harder. But now that it's over, now that it's complete, and I'm proud of every single page, even the ones I was kind of lazy with, I'm just very content and grateful that I was able to share this very special project, and I don't care so much about if they'll be looked back on fondly, or laughed at, or ignored anymore. It's done, and I'm happy.
Now that the manga is over, if you're ever wondering what I'm going to be doing next, I'll still be here. I have more DnDads ideas, some comics that will escape the four panel format I've been locked into for so long, and I draw One Piece stuff too sometimes, and that won't be going anywhere for a while still haha. I also have an original fantasy comic about a magic that kills you that just entered it's third chapter and you can check it out starting here on Tumblr, or on it's own website here. And if you ever want to request art from me or just support me financially, I have a ko-fi, I take requests for the low price of literally any money.
Once more, thank you. This project has been so special to me, and I'm so unspeakably grateful that it was this fandom I was able to share it with, I don't think it would have lasted, or even started anywhere else, for anything else.
#noodly#thank you everyone#this still turned out pretty long#so I'm sure you can imagine how annoying the original draft was haha#god I'm making such a big deal out of this as if I'm not going to be back here tomorrow lmao#just got lots of feelings tonight#this was a really special chapter of my life#but I'm kind of glad to see it go

I have wanted to fill out this meme for literal years, and after months, I’m finally done! It's posted in its all-together form on my deviantArt page.
Original meme here.
1: As usual when I start working on a ‘me’ character, by the time I finished working on her she was no longer me, lol (I have no particular fondness for poinsettias). Gifted to me here.
2 & 3: Kazumi Yoshida haters will be blocked on sight (joking, you’ll only be blocked if you’re rude about it).
4: “I find the Aizen siblings more annoying, but they are also harder to draw,” I said, and then proceeded to struggle with the lighting lollll.
5: I should clarify I haven’t read the Light Novels entirely, but from what I have read then this is what I’ve gleaned. (Thank you Poor Man Translation and Baka-Tsuki translators!) As for the ship themselves, I can and have made rants about how much I love my OTP and they’re perfect for each other, so I decided to spare you and just give a summary of how I interpret their canon relationships.
6: I made their eyes too big, and forgot to write that he knows it’s romantic because of the expensiveness of the chocolate + the mysterious note attached (which I also forgot to draw. lol) . . . BUT! I still really like this. I should make more little comics with them. For more info on Valentines Day in Japan watch this Youtube Short.
7: . . . I may have already sketched some things for this AU, haha!
8: I think Keisaku would have some trouble with understanding all of Outlaw’s terminology when he first starts working for them.
9: With the second question, after having re-read the manga it seems like time doesn’t stop—but I’m still curious about how this is perceived! Do teachers end up not teaching certain classes? Has anyone ever been fired over work they weren’t able to do because they were in a seal? If not, why?
10: I don’t like tagging people, so just do it if you’re interested!
#no image description#shakugan no shana#my fanart: shakugan no shana#khami#my fanart: khami#kazumi yoshida#khamsin nbh'w#shana#margery daw#keisaku satou#my fanart: keigery#if you have not been on my blog for long these following tags will NOT make sense to you lol#my fanart: actual cinnamon roll#my fanart: pile of contradictions#my fanart: what a cutie#that's too many tags#i should tag more but that's just too many

I went and jotted down my thoughts after having written my previous post. I brought a translation for it! It goes a little more into detail.
Just a moment, I was referencing the official manga volumes for the fan comic I'm drawing. In chapter 72, Ruby says something in front of Ai's grave:
'You know, about Aqua... He seems a little brighter these days. Like something that was possessing him has fallen away.'
This was the moment when Aqua decided to stop seeking revenge and live a normal life. At that time, Aqua's star-shaped eyes disappeared, and he returned to having normal eyes.
I’ve mentioned it many times, but the stars are essentially the gods of this manga. There are constant references to "stars dwelling within the eyes", or the idea of "being a reincarnation of the brightest star" in both IDOL and Fatal.
When the stars dwell within, it seems to grant some sort of special power. The term 'dwelling' or 'possessed' implies that they are entities acting with intention, or at least some kind of force is at work.
This manga often brings up gods, right? And the gods that were directly mentioned, if I remember correctly, were in chapter 144. There were four distinct gods, and gods who didn’t realize they were gods (this seems to be in plural form).
This is important. It means these gods will play some role in the story.
The god who created the world. God who brought forth the concept of souls. God who love absurdity and unreasonableness. God who loves people.
There are gods who don't realize they are gods as well.
I believe the characters from the Hoshino family are most likely those who don’t know they are gods. Their stories align too closely with mythology. Ruby once said she was Amaterasu, and Ai had been associated with Ame-no-Uzume (whether she was possessed by that god or was the god herself, it seems the phrase, "the reincarnation of a star" that's been used to describe her indicates that she was likely a manifestation of that god. She's probably also that star that the speaker in the songs longs for and pursues to bring back to life/become into). Kamiki’s name even has 'god' in it, and he has many parallels with Ame-no-Uzume's husband. In mythology, Sarutahiko is a deity who governs the land, and helps guide people so they don't get lost, which is why people pray to him for traffic safety. He’s also a shining god whose body radiates light, an indigenous solar god before Amaterasu. Aqua’s name matches Susanoo, Amaterasu’s brother, who is the god of the sea.
There’s something up, right? I’m sure of it.
Right now, the plot is so intense and moves so fast that it’s hard to get emotionally invested... Haha. It’s becoming harder to create content because I need to immerse myself in the character’s emotions to be able to draw something. Honestly, I feel really sad because hearing the spoilers has shattered my immersion. I could stay immersed up to chapter 159, but just hearing about the spoilers for chapter 160, it felt like the story was moving too quickly... I’ve never seen a manga so much like a soap opera before. Maybe it’ll be fine when I see it in the drawings, but for now, I might need to take a break because I can't get back into that emotional space.
But aside from that, there’s definitely something going on about the star- eyes in the manga.
Kamiki seems to be swayed by it. In the past, he suffered because of it, and it’s unclear whether he’s currently using it to his advantage or relying on it to revive Ai. But if you look at the lyrics of Mephisto, it seems more like the latter.
Based on my analysis of that character, there's actually really high chance of him just being a really pitiable guy who's been suffering upon having lost Ai tragically, probably in all this to get his lover back. He’s definitely the type who would do anything for Ai because he genuinely loves her. The black star is somehow intertwined with him. If we compare this story to mythology and find the parallels with it, the god that corresponds to him is actually a really benevolent one. He’s a god who protects and helps people. The virtuous god. He's also very powerful, the head of the earthly gods and is respected and worshiped by many.
I don’t think this is a coincidence. If Ai wanted to help him, it would make sense if he's like that in essence.
He was originally a good person, right? It seems like something went out of their way to corrupt him and ruin his life.
The lyrics of 'Fatal' even say that a capricious star messed up the speaker's life. There are lyrics that mention of "creative downfall from heaven" or something like that. The lyrics are really strange. And in 'Mephisto,' there’s a line saying, 'I forgot who I am,' right? I think this character is a god who doesn’t know they’re a god.
Everything fits.
Isn’t this it? Isn’t the main mission of the protagonists assigned by the gods tied to saving their father then? The more I think about it, the more convinced I am.
If this isn’t the case, where is the story even headed? What evidence is there that Kamiki is really evil and the mastermind behind everything? Am I missing something? Wasn’t he originally a good person? From what I’ve seen, his personality was so good that he even helped improve Ai’s character. He didn’t just not get angry, he seemed incapable of being so.
When you look at his actions, he seems like someone who keeps smiling through unbearable situations. You really need to pay attention to the scenes where he smiles because that smile might not be a real one at all. That’s why I’m convinced that his expressions in chapter 154 were genuine. That chapter showed his true nature.
I really think I’m right. I’m usually pretty good at reading psychology, and with everything fitting together like this, I think this is where the story is headed, don’t you agree?
Honestly, it’s really hard to create fan content right now. The current situation is very messy so it’s difficult to focus on drawing something sentimental or wholesome between the characters.
But I feel like the clues related to the gods are starting to unravel. I think this all makes sense. It’s not like there haven’t been hints sprinkled in along the way.

my mini essay about how much i love haikyu bc i need to express it pls
oh gosh idk what’s come over me but i could not be happier honestly.
after watching the dumpster battle move in theaters last month, i feel like ive been thrown into a full fledged haikyu phase that i missed out on both in 2020 (but it’s fine i heard it was also horrid at times during this, but lowkey looked fun LOL) and when i watched it for the first time in 2021 (ik im a little late to the game… don’t remind me)
when i watched it for the first time, i obviously loved it. but it’s hitting so much harder now—how im both reading the manga from volume 1 to rewatching the series (loosely) side by side. and i rarely rewatch anime’s unless it’s casual random ep (i.e ohshc or hxh for me hehe)
something about it this time means so much more. haikyu gets me so excited, hyped, happy, and so emotional. i don’t even play volleyball, but i do love the sport! yet it makes me feel like i can fly too 😭😭 i wish i was able to witness this series during its first release (i would’ve been in middle school!!) and i feel like it would hit so hard to grow up with them and the series 🥹 but it’s okay—timing is everything. even 3 years is a while already too.
but i’m so glad to have haikyu rekindle this spirit of excitement and motivation in my life right now. the story. the characters. how they all grow and develop and improve. and the themes about teamwork, believing in yourself, passions, hard work, everything in between just reminds me and teaches me so much in my own life too. i could go on and on but this is only a mini essay after all haha. i just love it so much.
thank u furudate for creating such a masterpiece. this piece of work changed the world and so many lives. even mine. and ik this might sound corny but idc. i really do love haikyu and what it means to me. everything about it, it makes me want to live that way too—to go after my dreams and believe in myself and cultivate my passions and work hard and find a community and live my life the way i want. so simple but powerful at the same time.
it makes me sad that the manga is over and we’ll only be getting another movie (literally robbing us…. i’m still manifesting for a new season idc idc i’m in denial) but i know haikyu is always there for me whenever i need it. and look, i can rewatch it, reread it over and over again. bc the spirit of haikyu goes on forever always!! we keep on flying higher!!!

12, 13, 14, 15, 21 & 22 for the character ask for Matsuda. :)
Yayyyy thank you for the ask!! :D
Get ready because I feel like I'm gonna write an essay and a half about The Guy
12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?
Oh geez, I feel like I have so many. How can I pick one?
A random one is that Matsu is the kind of guy to like lying on his bedroom floor. Like, if he had a rough day? Floor Time. He's contemplated so many things while staring at his ceiling. It really helps him feel grounded; when his brain is screaming at him to Do Something, it can help to just lay down and think through stuff.
13. What's an emoji, an emoticon and/or any symbol that reminds you of this character or you think the character would use a lot?
@lawlietscaramels sometimes uses 🦆 for Matsuda, so that emoji now reminds me of him. I keep forgetting to ask lei why they chose a duck, but it feels weirdly fitting haha. Matsuda's just a duck kind of guy, I suppose.
Matsuda seems like he'd use emoticons as punctuation. Stuff like :D and :'( help get his point across in messages when his tone might be read incorrectly (especially when he's messaging someone who can't read sarcasm in an email, Ide). If he's feeling a little extra (and/or texting Misa) he'll use over-the-top emoticons like ☆*: .。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:*☆ because he finds them fun and silly! Also, I think he'd do 😔 a lot, both irl and over the internet.
14. Assign a fashion aesthetic to this character.
I don't know the right word for it, but you know the aesthetic of, like, a bowling alley carpet? That's how his vibes are too me. Like, he's casual and fun, and I associate him with dark tones offset by bright neons.
As far as how he'd actually dress (outside of what we see in canon, where he's wearing a suit 99% of the time), I feel like it'd be kinda close to goblincore? This is kinda based on me googling and poking around sites, so I might be off with this 😅 I do think he'd love a chunky earth-tone sweater and corduroys, though. Something cozy and casual, you know?
15. What's your favorite ship for this character? (Doesn't matter if it's canon or not.)
hnnnngh why do you have to do this to me /lh I'm gonna talk about a few of them because I can't help myself they're all so good.
I love so many for different reasons! I think my favorite right now is probably MatsuIde, because I really enjoy their dynamic and banter. Also there's so much hurt/comfort potential with these two post-Kira. I feel like, after everything's happened, they have this connection to each other because they feel like no one else can really understand what those 5 years were like. This is true for the entire Task Force (and I like AizaMatsu for similar reasons), but with MatsuIde it just hits different, you know? Maybe it's because they spend so much time together onscreen (on panel?).
LawTsuda is probably my favorite ship for the first half of the manga/anime. Emotional intelligence vs. Logical intelligence is a ship dynamic that I fall for every single time, and Matsu and L have those respective traits in spades.
I also am a Canon One-Sided MatsuLight truther, lmao. Matsuda having a crush on Light feels so right but so wrong, and it really helps put parts of the second half into context. Like, Matsuda shooting Light hits so much harder that way, idk. Imagining a world where this ship is healthy is difficult but I find their dynamic so so interesting. Matsuda you deserve so much better but I can't help myself sorry.
TL;DR- MatsuIde is probably my fav overall, LawTsuda is my fav for the first half, MatsuLight is the crunchiest.
21. If you're a fic writer and have written for this character, what's your favorite thing to do when you're writing for this character? What's something you don't like?
My answer to both questions has to do with writing his impulsivity. His priorities differ a lot from other characters, and that changes what details he pays attention to and how he reacts to information. It also means that he's going to act irrationally in the name of Doing Something. Which is fun to play with! In chapters 9 and 10 of Weekend At Ryuzaki's, for example, I was trying to give off the idea that Matsuda is being quickly backed into a corner, which causes him to make a lot more mistakes and hasty decisions.
But on the other hand, writing an unpredictable character acting unpredictably while also making it satisfying and interesting to read is really hard. Like, I don't want him to seem like he's randomly bullshitting his way to answers that move the plot along. He has reasons for doing things in the heat of the moment, even if his reasons aren't exactly logical.
22. If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to ths character? Something you don't like?
I like to read just about anything with the "Matsuda Touta is Not an Idiot" tag, lol. Because he's not, really. Sure, he acts without thinking sometimes, and his thought process is very different from L's and Light's, but he's not an idiot. I like fics where he solves or helps solve the Kira murders, but his line of logic is different than the one used by L/Near in canon.
It's really hard to think of things in fic I don't like, to be honest! I guess one would be the Matsuda/Sayu pairing. I just find it kinda icky given that one scene in canon with them together. If they are both older, and it's a small part of an otherwise compelling fic, I can usually forgive it, though.

Unwilling | {KokuZan}
Theme: Angst
Note: I purposefully chose to write this as angsty as I could. I'm sorry in advance-
TW: implications of suicide! Mentions of sex :> like... the word haha- Angst obv! Vague spoilers-
How I wrote this is kinda skipping around a bunch and I wrote it differntly than I used to so sorry it's kinda rushed too...
It might not make sense if you've not finished the manga :> (more somewhere around the middle, I mean? cuz i'm vague abt details halfway through LMAO)
(part two here)
Kokushibo looked at Muzan with an inquiring look. "Muzan..?" he said tentatively.
Muzan sighed, as if annoyed he had been called. "Yes?" He looked at Kokushibo from his perch on his chair. "What is it you want?"
"Can I, um, kiss you?" the Uppermoon asked. He wasn't sure what to say. He just wanted some sort of affection from his boyfriend who seemed to hesitant to give him any.
Muzan crossed his arms. "Kiss me? No. I'm not in the mood for wasting my time right now."
Kokushibo nodded and averted his eyes. He'd expected that. It was the same answer he got nearly every time.
"It's too much of a bother," Muzan said, rolling his eyes. "Now, go to where Nakime is."
Kokushibo obeyed and moved to leave.
~~~
Muzan stood above all of the Uppermoons on a platform, something he'd had Nakime make specifically higher up to appear more menacing 'than he already was.'
"All of you are useless!" he said, his voice echoing in the hollow of the room. "You cannot seem to follow orders correctly! So far, no Hashira has been killed in the past, what? ten years? Pathetic. None of you have found any sort of trace of the blue spider lily, and besides that! You cannot catch a mere child. No sign of the runaway demon, no sign of any of you making progress at all! Disgusting. Have the Upperranks fallen? The Lowermoons were already horrible, but will all of you acting as such, maybe you six should be qualified as Lowermoons." He gave them a condemning look. "You're failing as Uppermoons. If you do not do something soon, if you do not prove yourselves worthy of the title I've given to you, I'm stripping all of you of your ranks."
There was a defeaning silence in the room and even Nakime knew better than to make a sound as Muzan glared down upon the Uppermoons.
The threats were probably—hopefully—empty ones as they had been for some years now, but they were still terrifying all the same. Who knew if this would be the time he decided they were no longer just to scare them?
He raised an eyebrow at their silence. "Very well then, off to your missions now. I hope none of you disappoint me," he said, shooting a look at Nakime.
In an instant there was a strum of an instrument and every Uppermoon found them back to where they'd been a couple minutes before.
Kokushibo, having just had been in Muzan's office, was there again now. Muzan stood in front of him, the stern look still playing on his face.
The Uppermoon blinked then said, "Uhm, Master..."
"What is it?" Muzan snapped, irritated.
"I'm sorry that I've—we've all—not been doing enough to fullfill your wishes, I promise to work harder and I'll-" Kokushibo started.
Muzan interrupted him with an impatient look. "Does it look like I give a fuck? Apologies aren't going to change anything and promises won't either, so don't fucking act as if I'll 'forgive you' for some stupid words." He rolled his eyes and glanced up at Kokushibo. "It's your own fault for being useless and weak. Go fix it yourself than pleading forgiveness."
"But... Muza-"
"No. Go do your missions or I'll put Douma up as Upper 1," he said, clearly a lie but also quite plainly a way to say I don't give a fuck about you right now.
Kokushibo sighed and turned away, trudging out the door.
~~~
Muzan glanced at the clock. 4am. Fuck.
Well he wouldn't be going outside anytime soon.
He sighed. Where was Kokushibo?
He drummed his fingers on his desk mindlessly, bored out of his mind. He sort of wanted to be with Kokushibo right now, just to... be with him.
But there was no way he would go ask. No fucking way.
Muzan dropped his head down onto the desk, annoyed with himself. Why'd he even care about Kokushibo?
The clocked ticked by painfully slowly and Muzan found himself pacing around.
Eventually, he got bored and went around to Nakime.
"Nakime." he said quietly, his voice echoing in the empty room.
"Yes?"
"Take me to one of the households I've presented myself in as a human."
"Alright." She brought her hand down to her biwa and plucked one of the strings.
Muzan blinked and found himself in front of a door.
"Papa!!" a little girl said, running up to him and hugging him.
He quickly changed his eyes to normal looking ones and gave her a smile. "Hello, I'm back from work," he said. "Why are you up so early? It's only 6..."
She grinned up at him. "Because I can!"
He sighed. "Alright..."
A woman came in and greeted him. "She woke up and wouldn't go back to sleep," she explained apologetically.
"Oh, alright, well, you should go off to bed," he said, looking down at the child in a disapproving way.
"Awh.. but-"
"Go to sleep! You need sleep!!"
She huffed but nodded and ran off.
The woman laughed. "Welcome back, dear."
He nodded. "Hm... If she sleeps, do you think we could have some time alone?" he asked.
"Maybe," she said, smiling at him. "Why?"
"I thought we could maybe do something together," he said, his tone suggesting more than he said. Suppose, he thought, she could fullfill some of his want for Kokushibo. She wouldn't be the Uppermoon but she'd be something to fill in his time?
~~~
"He went where..?" Kokushibo asked slowly, his gaze dropping from Nakime to the floor. Why would Muzan go to a human family...
Nakime sighed. "Kokushibo-sama, Muzan-sama went out with the woman from the family of humans he'd created in Asakusa." She looked down at him from her platform above. "Apologies. Should I take you there?"
He shook his head slowly. "No, no I think... take me to his office, please?"
"Alright..."
~~~
(drama✨)
Kokushibo tapped his foot impatiently on the floor as he waited.
Finally, after a couple hours, Muzan arrived. He looked disheveled and his clothes looked unusually unkept. As he walked in, he was fixing them, when his eyes landed on Kokushibo.
"Kokushibo?" he said, confused.
At the same moment, the Uppermoon said, "Muzan. We must talk."
"What about?" Muzan didn't care about reading Kokushibo's mind at the moment. His own mind was already filled with the sounds the woman had made some time before. Honestly, he didn't like her but if it would do anything to make him feel less... clingy, then so be it. Well, it was kind of useless now since Kokushibo was back and now he wanted to just throw himself into the Uppermoon's arms...
"Are you cheating on me?"
The demon lord blinked, pulling his mind from his thoughts. "What now?"
"Are you cheating on me," Kokushibo repeated, his voice stern but his tone almost... hurt.
"Why would you..." Kokushibo's thoughts filled Muzan's mind and he realized that he knew of the woman. "No! I'm not."
"Are you sure of that? You never seemed to care about me, you never do anything with me, you don't let me do anything for you, and then you go out and have sex with another person! And a woman, no less!! Do I not satisfy your needs because I am a man?" Kokushibo asked irritably.
There was silence in the room for a beat before Muzan said, "Well, of course I don't like you!! You're... boring!" What a fucking lame insult. He didn't even mean it. But of course, he wasn't about to say what he felt... that's not how it worked, right?? Anyways, who even wanted to pour out their feelings? "I don't care about all this affectionate shit you want."
It was Kokushibo's turn to process this. "So... you really don't care?"
"No!!" He was so persistant, why did he even like Muzan?
"Then..." Kokushibo swallowed, his mind racing. Muzan didn't like him... "Then I want to break up."
"What?" Muzan looked genuinely shocked at this. "Why?"
"You literally just said you don't like me!! And you just cheated on me!" Kokushibo crossed his arms. "I'm breaking up with you." Then he turned and marched out, leaving Muzan in shock.
Why... How had this happened? Muzan leaned on his desk for support. He hadn't been cheating!! He'd just been... No, he supposed it appeared as if had been. Why hadn't he noticed...? (bc he's a dumbass)
~~~
Kokushibo flopped onto the bed he never used, feeling horrible.
Why had he done that?
No, more so, why had Muzan cheated on him?
He... Kokushibo loved him! He'd done everything in his power to make sure Muzan was feeling alright in the relationship, feeling good. But he'd failed. And now they'd broken up. Because of Kokushibo.
Fuck.
He was a fucking idiot, what had he done wrong?? Where in their relationship had he fucked up...?
~~~
Muzan buried his head in his arms, leaning onto the desk. That didn't happen. Please let it not have happened.
But, of course it had. Of course it had.
Muzan had fucked up the whole relationship, and now, for some reason, Kokushibo had thought he never cared and then he'd fucking broken up with him!!
No fucking wonder all his relationships were fake.
Muzan groaned. He was a shitty boyfriend.
Not Kokushibo, Muzan was.
Kokushibo had been a wonderful one. A loveable one.
And guess who dumped that all away?
Muzan.
He lifted his head and hit it hard onto the table. Fuck.
~~~
He thought he would get used to it. The not dating Kokushibo 'it,' to be more specific. But it was hard. Kokushibo had been... everything to Muzan. And now he was nothing.
It had been months now and yet, the only thing Muzan could think of was his boyfriend. No, his ex. Right. They weren't dating anymore.
Why couldn't he just grasp that?
~~~
A girl. A demon girl. She had conquered the sun.
Muzan should've felt happy but he really... really, he didn't. He couldn't. But he would get the fucking girl and take her blood.
Maybe if he became truly immortal he could find a way to get Kokushibo back.
~~~
Kokushibo felt useless.
Like, he couldn't... couldn't live knowing Muzan had never liked him. He'd just been... some toy to the demon king, then? Probably.
And so he did his best to ignore him, avoid him.
He would never forgive Muzan. No, he could never.
~~~
Perfect. The perfect solution!!
Muzan would get the demon girl and then when all the demons could resist the sunlight... then, he would use that occasion to ask Kokushibo back. Because it would be a good time for the demons as well.
~~~
Fuck it, the demon slayers were doing better than Muzan had expected... But, no matter. They would win. Muzan would win. He had to, otherwise how would he ask out Kokushibo?
~~~
Shit. Half of the Uppermoons were dead. Where was Kokushibo.
Muzan closed his eyes and located Kokushibo, fighting three Hashira and one demon slayer.
The Uppermoon was... struggling.
Ah... the strongest Hashira was there too.
No matter... the strongest Uppermoon was no match for him.
~~~
No. No. No, what, how?!
Kokushibo... Kokushibo had died.
How. How the fuck.
Muzan fought furiously against the Hashira that just kept coming and coming. The demon slayers, so persistent.
Why. Why had they taken Kokushibo from him?!
~~
Fucking hell...
Muzan saw the sun facing towards him, disintigrating him. He was dying. Fuck it, he was dying.
And then there was nothing.
He looked around. Was he still alive?
No...
He was going to hell now, no?
He was dead.
And there was Kokushibo.
"Kokushibo!" Muzan shouted, his voice echoing in this emptiness.
Kokushibo looked at him, disdain filling his features in a second. "Muzan," he said quietly.
"Kokushibo, will you forgive me? I..." Muzan's voice trailed off.
"Forgive you?" Kokushibo laughed, a fake one, a cold, horrid sound. "Never. I will never forgive you, Muzan Kibutsuji. You ruined my life. I should've never become a demon."
Muzan gaped at him. "What..?"
Kokushibo gave him a disgusted look and faded away.
"No! Kokushibo! I'm sorry!"
It was too late.
He would never be forgiven.
~~~
Muzan wasn't aware that people who went to hell were given second chances. But apparently they were.
He found himself as a child growing up. He felt sort of empty, as if missing something though.
As he grew into his teens, he started remembering more of his past. Little by little.
He found he longed for a relationship, but whenever he dated someone he felt only remorse for something—someone—he didn't know what. Or who.
He had a girlfriend now. Again.
She was sweet and nice to him but he found that he wasn't particularily attracted to her. Sure, she was pretty and all, but... he was unsure.
"Kie!" he said, her hand clasping around his arm. "You're going to break my back!"
She laughed. "Carry me!! I'm not that heavy!"
"You aree!!" he whined.
She gave him a playfully injured look. "What?!"
"I'm kidding, I'm kidding," he said, pulling her along the sidewalk.
Muzan stopped abruptly, almost bumping into a boy who looked to be around his age. Kie did bump into him.
"Ow-" Muzan said, turning and stopping her from falling.
"Sorry- Oh, hello!" Kie said, smiling.
The boy nodded. "Hey."
Muzan turned back and nearly fell down. "Kokushibo?!" he said, shock filling his tone.
"You know him?" his girlfriend asked, confused.
Kokushibo nodded slowly. Then quickly shook his head. "No, nope, you must've mistakened me. My name is Michikatsu, sorry, bye!!" he said, looking almost scared. He shot a glare at Muzan then sped off in the opposite direction.
"That was odd," Kie said.
"Yeah, uhm, odd," Muzan agreed, nodding. He watched as Kokushibo ran off. Kokushibo... he could speak to him now.
~~~
"Fuck, where the hell is he?" Michikatsu grumbled, walking down the street.
"Kokushibo."
The voice pulled Michikatsu out of his thoughts and he looked up. Dread filled him instantly. Muzan.
"Yes?" he said quietly. There was no escape, was there? He couldn't leave as he was looking for Yoriichi.
"Kokushibo, you remember, don't you?" Muzan asked hopefully.
"I do. Why?" he said, realizing a second too late he should've pretended not to.
"Kokushibo, I'm sorry, please!! Please can we... can we try again?" Muzan pleaded.
"No."
"What?"
"No, no we cannot. You say you remember, then you must remember that you've cheated on me and that you don't even care," Michikatsu said, crossing his arms.
"But... I care now!!"
"Sure. Lies." He glared at him, anger filling his voice. "I could never care for you anyways." That was a lie too. He did care. But he didn't want to get into a one-sided relationship. Muzan was probably just doing this for show.
"Oh."
And that was all Muzan said because then, Yoriichi walked over.
"Michi!! I was looking for you everywhere," he whined.
Michikatsu turned around gratefully. "Yoriichi!! Finally! I was trying to find you too," he said, laughing.
Muzan blinked. Oh. Yoriichi.
Yoriichi noticed Muzan, then, and his eyes narrowed. "Michi, is he bothering you?"
Michikatsu considered denying it but then nodded. "Yes, he's, uhm, trying to date me."
"Get away from my brother," Yoriichi snapped. "We don't need your gay ass around us." He pulled Michikatsu's arm. "Let's go."
"Yeah, let's go," Michikatsu said, half relieved and half disappointed. For what? He knew not.
"Wait-!" Muzan tried, but the Tsugikuni's had already sped off.
An angry voice came from behind him. "Are you cheating on me?" Kie asked, crossing her arms.
"What?" Muzan turned, desperation suddenly filling him. Those words... not again.
"You're trying to date someone else? Are you really gay? Wow. The most bullshit I've heard in my life. You're literally dating a girl and then go off and find guy and try to date him?" Her voice grew louder with each word, fury rising in her throat. "I can't believe you!! I'm breaking up with you! I really thought I could trust you."
Muzan was speechless which Kie took as confirmation. She glared at him and then stalked off.
That...
Muzan blinked.
Fuck.
~~~
Yoriichi was making rice and Michikatsu stood watching him, his mind elsewhere.
Should he really have gone off and done what he had done? Or should he have let Muzan have a chance... Really, he wanted to have. He wanted to hold Muzan in his arms and believe that he meant the apologies.
But he also couldn't believe them. As much as he wanted to. Which was ironic, he knew, but it was... something he truly felt. And he hated himself for it.
"Michi? You alright?" Yoriichi asked, waving a spoon in front of his face.
"Huh? Oh! Yeah, sorry, I was just thinking," Michikatsu said, smiling.
"Alright, well, the food is done!"
Michikatsu picked up the plate that Yoriichi had made for him and sat at the table.
Had he really done the right thing? Or was he just unwilling to chance Muzan's supposed lies...?
~~~
Maybe he should've just let Kokushibo go.
Two rejections from the man he loved.
Well, fuck it.
Muzan found himself at a cliff then, not even knowing where he was. Had he walked this far? He'd been so consumed in his thoughts that...
No, maybe he'd gone here on purpose. To end himself. He clearly belonged in hell, and only in hell.
It wasn't like anyone cared.
Muzan looked down, noting how far the cliff dropped down.
Perfect. The impact would be just enough to kill him.
He smiled at it, a sort of bitter smile.
"I tried," he whispered, leaning forward and closing his eyes.
hello im a new fan of touya.. maybe not yet a bnha fan but definitelly touya. i have been avoiding bnha for the longest time and now i feel like i've opened up a treasure chest filled with diamond when i found touya.. i instanly fell in love with him. with tears filled my eyes and sobbing really really hard cause unfortunately i fell in love with him right after watching an edit of him fighting with his family.. watching him dying and in the most vulnerable states. but i guess its better late than never. (right?)
he's so beautiful and yet tragic and i believe there are so much depth in him. but where do i start as a new fan? any recomendations.
also since im collecting plushies can you please tell what kind of plushie touya have out there? i need to get my hands on them. do you also collect his merch and would you mind share it with me?
(sorry if i was rambling i wanna pour my heart out to someone, and you are the only one i know cause im a levi fan as well hehe, have a nice day^^)
Ohhh, hello hello Anon!!
I love talking about my beloved tragic beautiful Dabi... and have been thinking about him so much since the recent episodes. He's so painfully soft behind the hurt and revenge...
Congrats on coming over to the Touya side! Absolutely better late than never and there is still plenty of Touya left to love. The Todorokis have the most interesting plot line in bnha in my opinion. I really love this story in spite of it's end, so I hope you find time to consume it fully. Since you're not a bnha fan yet I assume you haven't consumed the anime or manga content either.. but if I can say, he does not die in battle. And in my opinion, it's clear he lives on even post-war even if I wished to have seen a more concrete happiness for him! 😭
The best way to enjoy your favorite character is always to consume all the content for them lol. There's so many edits and fanart of his beautiful face and you are welcome to go through my blog tag of '#Dabi' if you wish for a place to see a good collection of them 🥺... And of course my personal favorite is reading him in fanfics, where we can truly explore his character.
If I may, might I introduce you to the other half of my love that will always go hand in hand with Touya for me... Takami Keigo/Hawks? 👀 They are basically two sides of the same coin.. constantly in parallel and Hawks is yet another tragic beautiful character. I particularly enjoy his interactions with Dabi in canon, but the fandom world for them together is endless and I could talk forever and absolutely rec some amazing fics if you decide that is also your cup of tea. 🤣
Oh plushie Dabi's yes! I want them all as well but have found them harder to come by than plushie Hawks so I am also still looking for him. (he is also sometimes quite deformed 😭 so it's hard to find good ones!) 🥲 But 'Banpresto' has released a few plushies of him in various sizes from mini keychain types to a medium more firm size and it depends which but some you can find online or others you'll have to import from Japan. I've used 'AitaiKuji' for a good place to browse in the past. There's also a 'Mochibi Dabi' which is more like a tsum tsum shape (relatively easy & affordable to buy). There's also some round ball plushies of him like from Fuwakororin and I've seen some custom fanmade kitty versions of him 🥺 like the one from AgiJagi. Beyond that he has a selection of figures, where his face looks better than others 🤣 so choose wisely (his nendo is super cute tho!). There's also been some collectible very expensive custom ones of him like the one from 'weareanimecollectors'. Anyways, happy merch collecting, I've only had the luxury to start doing more of this in the past few years so I'm no expert! But I can take some pics of the ones I have if you want to see mines. 😉
Always happy to talk more about Dabi! Please feel free to ramble haha. And ohhh hello fellow Levi lover, it's nice to know someone remembers my love for Levi too 🤣 since it's been quite some time since I screamed about him (blame dabihawks lol they took me like the wind) , but he will always be dear. 🥲 💛 Have a lovely day💛
How do you see Campari and Cognac get along with their GoD and Kaioshin?
Hihi anon, thanks for the ask, sos its a bit late, ive been a bit busy the past few days aha 🧡🤎
Campari
I think Camp is bit of a nerd (i like to imagine he went out of his way to learn and understand Mosco's beeps an shit), so i think he would get along with Mosco and Eyre. Like, in the manga, he literally lies to Zeno's face to save Mosco's and Eyre's skin when Mosco apparently said something offenisve in Zeno's presence. Only a proper good mate (who also happens to have massive bollocks we dont talk about that monent in ep 92 of the anime) would do that. Also in the anime, Mosco is the only GoD who thanks his Angel for sticking with him (HE CALLS HIM "PAL" IN THE ENGILISH DUB 😭) like, they are deadass besties (i like to imagine they all play video games together an shit as well hehe)
Cognac
Now, I gotta be honest, since we saw little to no Cog, its a bit harder to determine his relationship with Quitela and Kuru, so I'm gonna base most of my answer based on a headcanon I have regarding Cog's personality. Now while Kuru is quite snooty and Quitela is, quite frankly, a twat (no offence if you like him), I imagine Cog is actually really sweet and nice but really quiet, borderline shy, at the same time- which is quite the contrast from his GoD. Because of this, I reckon he has piss poor relationships with his GoD and Kaioshin. This can be supported by the fact that he didn't give a rats arse haha get it? about Quitela, Kuru and Co. getting erased in the Anime ik he looked sad in the manga, i am merely cherry picking my evidence lol.
Also, it is worth pointing out that Camp's universe has a higher mortal level ranking than Cog's, possibly as a result of their relationships. It seems the deities of these lower ranking universes dont get along with each other whereas the higher rankers are BFFs or summit lol.
TLDR: Campari has a good relationship with the deities from his universe while Cognac does not
You know what? Screw you! *Spidermans your Armin*
I will now proceed to make a long ass essay of how i maded him because i want to.
(Tw// A real image of a spider)
Alright, so, i started with Armin's last name.
I looked for it's origin and apparently is old Germany and Anglo-Saxon, i kinda of decided for him to be from German at the end. Then i used that to look for the typical spiders of the country or at least the most normal types to be founded!
I ended up choosing the Zebra Jumper.
And thanks to their descriptions, i started the process to create the Spidersona of Armin.
As their name states, Zebra Jumpers are able to jump 5 times their bodies, and also they don't use spiderweb as a hunting technique that much.
Usually, Spiderman is unable to make spiderweb by himself, so he creates a spiderweb launcher to be able to move around the city.
And i thought it suits Armin to try and build some "machinery" to help him as well! Mostly because it has been shown that he has a certain interest on mechanics/engineering (Helping Marco to fix his ODM, helping Hange to make the thunder spears, etc) And also applying the fact that the spider that bit him was a jumper type, it would add to his natural abilities.
He can stick to walls (like a normal spiderman), heals pretty quickly, and all that jazz, but also has the ability to jump way more high than a average human (Around 60 meters or 197 ft because it would be a fun wink to his colossal titan of the og show/manga).
And with that, he creates his own spiderweb to function like a hook and be able to move around the buildings easily and at high speed. The belts around his body not only work as a reference to the original uniform from the manga/show, but also to help him to stay stable when he moves around the city.
Other thing i added is his pilot hat, it was only seen on official art from the show where he is depicted as a engineer (again) and as a "plane pilot"
The colors are red brownish because of his colossal (in the show) and of the actual spider (the brown). And the white is mostly to have a contrast, and the spider as well!
Extra things ig
• Eren is an absolute fan of Spiderman and only gets Armin flustered for all his compliments and merchandise that he boughts.
• Also, Armin can't lie to Eren and Mikasa, so is harder to be around them sometimes.
• I had the idea to be not only his grandfather's death his "canon event" but also that Erwin died and he was saved in his place as well, maybe Erwin was a mentor figure or something, i am not sure.
Hello Duke of Hell,
Do you feel like you experience hyperfixations differently now compared to how you did when you were younger? can you describe the difference?
I certainly feel a difference myself, new fandoms and interests just don't rot my brain as all consumingly or as long as they used too
It's not a bad change, but I find myself missing it. There was a comfort to being consumed, absorbed, engrossed, to being lost completely in an idea. It was a powerful drug. One of the few parts of myself I thought I'd never be at risk of losings.
If you have experienced this deterioration, how has it affected your art and writing?
sincerely,
Anonymous
i still get super hyper fixated on media, mainly cuz of psychological stuff (not gonna get personal but yeah) so a certain media will just consume my attention at that moment in time. sometimes it’s for a few months, sometimes it’s for years. and sometimes it comes and go (like blue exorcist, my current hyper fixation haha).
idk if it’s different from when i was younger tho, i try not go around talking about my interests cuz i used to be that kid in middle school/high school that would never shut up about his favorite show and annoy everyone. and also get bullied for it as well (i got bullied for pokémon, like when it was popular, ?????). so i just don’t talk about my hyper fixations as much cuz of that. which in turn has made it harder for me to express my ideas on my favorite media so i have trouble getting involved in communities. also fandoms tend to scare me. i lived through some bad fandoms in my younger days online. so yeah.
and i do miss the old days were i would just go on and on about my favorite show/anime or manga. i would draw fan art and fan ocs all the time and post them online. i have been trying to watch/read new stuff in general cuz i know it would help with not only inspiration but motivation as well. and i haven’t made fan ocs for a long time (besides the welcome home one which i haven’t drawn for a bit). i definitely think of some, just seldom draw them. i want to do that stuff again, too. like you said, there’s a comfort to it. but i get nervous. not so much of being cringe, but more so, why would ppl care to see my oc. most ppl want to see the established characters in fan art. which i don’t blame them. that’s why they like media, it’s cuz of the characters. idk my deterioration is more so self inflicted from being outcasted and fear of drama and not really something that went away naturally cuz i still do get super consumed by it, i just hide it now.
Hellooo!!
So um this is my first ask ever so I’m a bit unsure bout things but I’m just gonna babble haha
I first found you through ao3 when only the first chapter of badlands was released and immediately got hooked, the writing was so good and I was soo ready for future chapters and then I saw the line “always end in tragedy.”
…😳 what did I get myself into?!! Haha but it ended happy!? I was like huh wasn’t this a doomed romance, but it ended pretty well and then unreal unearth came out and- oh I see what you meant now. Badlands whispered sweet nothings into my ear and push me gently into satin silks only for Unreal Unearth to German suplex me into the bed of nails that was hidden under the silks all along (BUT IN A GOOD WAY, in a good way??) The wasabi to the cake was finding out in UU that Badlands actually had a sad ending post credit, …OH THEY DOOMED DOOMED (THEY WERE SO CLOSE TO BEING MARRIED djshdkek 😭😭😭)
I reallly love fanfic writers like cause reading their works just remind me of the affections i felt for the characters and the series like how to I say this hahah like i first watched bsd a few years ago when i started getting into anime and i just found this series on Netflix and was like oh this looks interesting. They only had season 1 and afterwards I got into the series for a while as i really like the concept of detectives with superpowers haha but my interest was kinda basic like I wasn’t in deep, my only knowledge was s1, didn’t even read the manga haha, and just read some fanfics, and than after a while i moved on to other series.
But earlier this year when i was looking through my bookmarks and i came across this old bsd fanfic, it was just a oneshot so i was like lemme reread it why not and THAT basically change everything haha, reading it just remind me of why i loved these characters and the adventures they had and I sorta re-fell in love with bsd again and wanted to go rewatched the series and actually go read the manga haha and found out oh they have 5 seasons now, a parody manga , light novels? , stage plays??! and even a ACTUAL CANON AU ( oh beast, why beast🥹) like there’s so much content haha like there’s 5 different manga ??!! Like I left bsd when it was just goofy detectives adventures only to return to a vampire apocalypse and world ending fidget spinner??!! and I also realised that all the characters are named after actual authors and their abilities are after their works like that is soo coool, it’s kinda weird but cool which is kinda what bsd, weird in a fun way? Haha
Lowkey the reason why I watched some anime is cause I’ve read some fanfic with no knowledge of the actual canon and was like this fanfic was so goood let me go check out the source material hahha, me finding anime recommendations through fanfic✌️hahha like it wasn’t the anime or manga that brought me into the fandom but someone’s godamn incredible fic, haha and i think your fanfics is like that, like if I didn’t know about bsd before, after reading your works, I’ll be ready to jump right in no question asked ma’am. Mann I thought I already love this character as much as I could but after reading your fanfics , apparently falling harder is something I’m capable of haha like I feel a bit embarrassed writing all of this but I really looveee your works they are just so goood, reading each new series you have just sorta makes me refall in love with dazai again and again, even if I get hurt by the angst I just can’t help but go back haha
Do you have any advice for writing? 👉👈 cause I’ve been thinking about writing my own fanfics, got some oc ideas in my notes but never really gotten around on that haha so would you have advice for a first timer 🙏🙏🙏
Also I’ve been wondering since PM!reader has ability what about waterloo!reader , i don’t know whether you mentioned it before but what kinda ability did she have, if that’s okay to asked im just been real curious on that
ALSO ALSO ITS YOUR BIRTHDAY
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
I hope you have a wonderful time!! All the well wishes for you 🎉🎉🎉🎉
so that about it’s, sorry for the long tangent haha
Thank you for sharing your masterpieces haha, I look forward to your future works 😊😊😊
also…dazai is so pretty sigh 😮💨
OMGGGG TUMBLR USER CHERERRRY WELCOME TO MY BLOG IM GIVING U THE BIGGEST AND WARMEST HUG
HAHAHAHAHHHH YOUR DESCRIPTION OF WATERLOO HAS ME DYING "badlands whispered sweet nothings into my ear to push me into satin silks only for uu to german suplex me into the bed of nails hidden underneath the silks" KDJFIOUAHDFASUIFHSDF IM ACTUALLY DECEASED THIS IS SO FUNNY AND THEN THE WASABI TO THE CAKE HAS ME CACKLING HAHAHAHH I FEEL LIKE I SHOULD APOLOGIZE BUT I CAN'T STOP GIGGLING
OMG u and me are truly the same - i love going to read works in fandoms ive never been in to see if i can find something to lure me into finally reading the manga/watching the anime. miss river has truly tempted me with some of her genshin fics but i fear i can only handle a single gacha at once. im desperately waiting for rylie to write for one piece because ive been teetering on starting it but i need something to push me over the edge because its just sooo long HAHAHAH
and omg i have to note because i was actually just thinking about how much i missed early seasons bsd before ... but it TRULY has changed so much, like i have so much nostalgia for the earlier seasons i miss when bsd was just about silly little detectives solving silly cases </333 get these vampires and godmen out of here pretty pls </333 no jk, im actually enjoying the plot (which seems to be an unpopular opnion in the fandom HAHAH) but i am excited to see where asagiri takes it. the 1 month wait time between chapters is killing me
BUT PLSSSS YOU'RE SO SWEET <333 im so glad i can help you refall in love with mister bungo stray dogs, he truly deserves all of the love in the world. every time someone comes into my ask box telling me that i've like changed their view on his character or made them fall even harder it makes me so happy HAHAHH
omg i made a post a while back that i'll link here for you!! i hope it can help at all!!
AHHHHH okay!! so waterloo reader in uu & badlands canon does NOT have an ability, she is truly a civilian. but in the last chapter of uu, dazai alludes to there being universes out there where she somehow ended up with the port mafia when he ended up elsewhere (ada, civilian, government) and in those universes, she DID develop an ability. i haven't fleshed it out yet, but whether or not her ability manifests is triggered by an event that happens with her brother (iceman) when she's like 13/14 ish
AND DON'T APOLOGIZE <3333 i adore long asks thank you so much
gege, you mad bastard (affectionate)
Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 212 spoilers under the cut
This chapter's got me fucking feral, and I've gotten most of it out of my system by going full-on unhinged at @thelionshoarde and @backwardshirt. Now let's see if I can put my thoughts into a more coherent form, mostly so I can refer to them later on.
Was Tsumiki doomed before the story even started?
I am and will always be weak to the concept of a character being dead before the story even began, though I admit it hits harder when it's a major character who gets the treatment. Anyway, as of now, that seems to be the route taken with Tsumiki. The Angel does say incarnated players essentially erase the original soul/personality of the host: the only exceptions we have are Yuuji (who's got Kenjaku for a parent and whatever fuckery they pulled to explain his unusual aptitude as a vessel) and Hana (where the Angel is responsible for Hana's continued existence). Tsumiki and her curse are presented as such a major driving factor behind Megumi—his principles as a sorcerer, his overall moral values, his participation in the Culing Games. Hell, unless I'm missing something, the first time he explicitly asks for help from his peers is when he asks Yuuji to participate in the games to help save Tsumiki. If all of that was pointless, if none of it ever mattered—well, good thing he seems to currently not be in a state to process that (haha. hah. help.).
I am curious why Tsumiki's name and not Yorozu's appeared in the Culling Games player info screen. Plot hole or potential hint that she's still in there somewhere? The latter wouldn't make much sense given what we've seen of all the other incarnated players and the Angel's statement about them, but I suppose it's an option.
Yuuji and self-sacrifice
I was shouting three pages into the chapter because of this:
Yuuji, honey, stop trying to sacrifice yourself for two whole seconds. In all seriousness, I do love how this tendency has been consistent since the start: Yuuji's always put others' survival over his own, and the events of the manga, particularly his trauma conga line in the Shibuya arc, seem to have worn him down to the point that his will to live is a permanent question mark. And we've always known he's willing to die, and take 75% of Sukuna's power with him as he goes, to save Gojou and put everything back to rights, but I also adore how the narrative just won't let him do it. Hell, immediately after this, we're shown yet again why this trait of it isn't always a good thing. So far, the consequences have been emotional distress to those who care about him. This time, it's a lot more severe:
Sukuna wasn't even sure if this would work; given what we see of the binding vow (it's not like these two sat down and ironed out the terms), who's included under "anyone" seems to be a matter of Yuuji's intent. And he didn't include himself because he consistently fails at self-preservation. Now it's come back to bite everyone in the ass.
The vessel business
What is up with that, actually? I'm too lazy to check, but didn't Megumi say someone surviving ingesting Sukuna's finger was a one-in-a-million chance? Or did that apply only to non-sorcerers? It makes sense that cursed energy would make a difference in terms of survival, and Megumi has that in abundance. And Yuuji's uniqueness as a vessel has always been about how he can suppress Sukuna even at 20 fingers (thanks, Mumjaku). And I remember Kenjaku saying, back when the Death Paintings were being incarnated, that Sukuna was special in that he could choose his vessel. As of now, Yuuji's secondary eye markings have faded entirely:
They're fading in this panel.
By this one, they're entirely gone.
But he still ingested 15 fingers. And did/could Sukuna transfer all of that power in the few seconds he took to gamble on imbuing Yuuji's finger with cursed energy and feeding it to Megumi? I guess it's not impossible, but I think it would make more sense, narratively, for Sukuna to have hopped hosts rather than ditched Yuuji entirely. And whether the power transferred is one finger's worth or all fifteen's or some halfway point remains to be seen. Which brings us to—
Whether/how Yuuji and/or Megumi will survive?
How in the fuck will Megumi react, physically and mentally, to playing host to Sukuna? The vessels crushed by the incarnated sorcerers all seem to be people who were non-sorcerers (even Hana doesn't seem to have a cursed technique of her own, at least that's my understanding), and I don't think Megumi is going to get killed off via possession just like that (...that would be pretty fucking lame, no matter how cool the possession plot twist itself is). I think it's reasonable to assume Megumi will try to fight off the possession; if Getou's body reacted like that to Gojou's voice despite the former being quite dead, then a very alive Megumi reacting/fighting, especially if Sukuna uses him to fight either Yuuji or the sorcerer in Tsumiki's body, is very much in the realm of possibility.
But what is Sukuna planning, honestly? There's some shit Uraume is preparing for...but what? Proper incarnation? And will there be a Sukuna-in-Megumi's body versus Yuuji fight before that, like the end of the last chapter hinted—because, depending on Sukuna's power level and how much of it he can use in Megumi's body, I can't see Yuuji surviving that unless he gets a major power boost.
And how the fuck does Kenjaku's implied plans (for a rather loose definition of the term, since they seem v ery, very good at rolling with the punches) for Sukuna factor into all of this?
In sum:
I am losing my entire mind.
On a lighter note, at least we now know Sukuna isn't one for foreplay:
