wait are ianthe and coronabeth identical or fraternal twins? i guess you could argue that they must be fraternal if one of them has necromancy and the other doesn't? but we also don't really know what determines whether a child is born a necromancer (aside from the necessary link to a thanergetic system, or uhhhhhh. killing your entire creche mid-coitus), so is it even genetic?

and i know they look different but how much of that is body modifications and/or Necromancer Fragility and/or Vibes

i’m relistening to gtn and i caught something interesting

during the scene where gideon goes for tea with the eighth, silas comments that she might be originally from the third house because of the color of her hair (which is always described as outrageously and unnaturally red)

that plus the fact that corona and ianthe have violet eyes makes me wonder if maybe necromancy-fueled genetic engineering is a major thing on the third? it’s already canon that necros can give themselves bigger asses via necromancy, so why Not be able to alter their DNA to change the color of their eyes or hair the same way…….. or even do necromantic plastic surgery!! the third house is already written to be very vain as a culture, so it wouldn’t surprise me if cosmetic necromancy was developed there…. many thoughts.

I've been going through Shakespeare's sonnets and I just got to 31 and I think it could be used as a prayer from the Ninth to Reverend Daughter Harrowhark:

Thy bosom is endearèd with all hearts Which I by lacking have supposèd dead, And there reigns love and all love’s loving parts, And all those friends which I thought burièd. How many a holy and obsequious tear Hath dear religious love stol’n from mine eye, As interest of the dead, which now appear But things removed that hidden in thee lie. Thou art the grave where buried love doth live, Hung with the trophies of my lovers gone, Who all their parts of me to thee did give; That due of many now is thine alone.   Their images I loved I view in thee,   And thou, all they, hast all the all of me.

Like, it posits that the speaker's current object of affection embodies everything they loved in other friends / lovers / whomever else, dead or out of their lives, and so the object of the poem comforts them. And whether you assume that the Ninth lowkey has an idea about what her parents did or whether they simply are horribly grieved about the loss of the rest of the kids, this would work, and the tension of that ambiguity is to me just *chef's kiss*.

Had a dream that Coronabeth was canonically ace and honestly I could get behind that. She's the sexiest person in any room she enters and does not care. Hello everyone and welcome to my TWISTED MIND PALACE!! I was dragged against my will onto this website by an anonymous Poster and may or may not Tumble from time to time (that's the verb right?).

I'm a freak about horror and mystery fiction, as well as gay people (being one myself. that's right. i'm one (1) gay people.). I'm currently hugely obsessed with The Magnus Podcasts, as well as Japanese mystery fiction, but my interests go as far as gayass soshage featuring big boys with big bulges, as well as emotional character-driven fantasy novel epics such as Robin Hobb's Realm of the Elderlings cycle. I'm a bit all over the place really.
