Not to be that person, but if Kamala Harris were a white man with the exact same ideals, positions, and beliefs, it wouldn’t have even been a competition. Realising that the worst thing you can apparently be is a woman, is truly devastating.

#lay rambles #my ocs #oc: liam hawke #oc: lilian hawke #both my hawkes are very social w their friends but i love comparing their boundaries around it #theres variation in rules for specific ppl with both of them ofc but theres still general differences #with liam its all very open and everyone can p much come and go whenever #they dont get extra keys (theyll get lost and he doesnt want randos finding them lol) but they know where to find the spare key #and bodhan and sandal and orana know to let them in whenever #hes very lenient in this this regard but he does have rules abt what he does and doesnt want them to do #mostly its about not making too much of a mess lol bc liam prefers to clean himself #(he doesnt trust the crew with his household and also he has particular ways of doing things and Hates when theyre done differently)#so things like keep your dirty garb at the entrance dont cook by yourselves (this was banned after they did it one (1) time lol) etc #also no fucking allowed. do that somewhere else for the love of the maker he does NOT want to walk into that in his own house #(and it also comes back to liam not trusting them with cleaning but also Not wanting to clean that up lol)#also he is not fond of them going into his room uninvited. most of the house is chill but that is *his* space #he accommodates these rules by e.g. having spare slippers and a little washing basin in the entrance hall for dirty shoes/feet #always makes sure to have snacks in stock that he knows they like #food will have notes abt what to leave for leandra/orana/etc but otherwise food is prepared with his friends in mind #and in general he'll make sure to adjust the space/routine in little ways to accommodate them #(air out when fen isnt there cus he doesnt like drafts; keep curtains open cus anders prefers open spaces; etc)#lilian on the other hand doesnt like when her friends come into the estate without a heads up (cept for emergencies)#but once they have her 'ok' its basically mi casa es su casa #dont yknow. overdo it and get too rowdy but otherwise do whatever #however. she also expects everyone to clean up after themselves. she aint here to play maid and youre all adults #also liam has a general 'please try to not be too wild when leandra is here' and lilian doesnt #not cos she doesnt care but cos leandra is bothered by sth she can speak up herself #oh and lilian uses the basement space as temporary refuge for anyone who needs it (mostly escaped mages)#also side note: both offered gamlen to stay but he refused (out of pride/remorse)#...this got long and i ran out of tag space lmfao so this is it for now xD

#so im driving some little dude to his appointment i left like super early incase n it turns out i was given an address to a fking House ?!?!#obviously he doesnt know the address cus hes just some lil dude so im like ringing up his guardians and #the one that actually goes to the hairstylist cant answer obs cus i had to take his son cus hes busy duh #BUT THAT MEANS IM JUST DRIVING AROUND SOME PLACE IDK TRYING TO FIND PLACES THAT LOOK LIKE HAIR #& when i find one im like uh does this barber sound familiar cus im not taking him to some random one #andlike omg and the entire time im playing music real loud trying not to cuss out in front of this little kid #like IM ALREADY SHIT WITH NAVIGATION. & THEN U GIVE ME THE WRONG ADDRESS AND IT'S RAINING #and he wants to go get an icecream afterwards n im sitting at the barber chatting it up #but i am like actually on the verge of a breakdown cus i made him late bcs i cant just figure shit out #like #it's just so fking frustrating like it makes me feel like a failed adult or smthing like #i AM GOOD. (i think all the same day?)#it's just so... impactful. that this is blocked in the threshold.#lingering between burke and roger; the drawing room and foyer; pulled to either side by two versions of what happened ten years ago.#roger tugging (forcefully) at her loyalty to the collins family and her gratitude for giving her a home and family;#burke tugging her sympathies because he also wants a home; roots; a big house to raise his kids in — he's alone in the world like she is.#[heathcliff] is more myself than i am!#and you can see the realization on his face that should burke tug her too far;#roger's cord of communion will snap and he will take to bleeding inwardly.#vicki by nature of her character not only responds to truth with her favor — but; conversely; by giving her favor creates truth.#when she likes and trusts and wants to spend time w/ roger he fares very well: a breakfast date where she supplies him with an alibi —#a dinner date that covers up his perjury meeting. vicki's good opinion is indispensable for his survival —#the very minute he loses that — when she is certain he's bill's murderer — she turns on him and so does everyone else and he immediately #loses his freedom (albeit only temporarily held at the police station rather than 5 years in prison)#she's not literally taken laura's place with them — but it's remarkable how much her romantic intentions influence the outcome of that #decade-old case; in just the same way that laura choosing roger as her husband and supplying truth through her testimony lead to #burke's condemnation before. it's much the same game roger is playing at this point in the story (at a significant disadvantage #to last time; because he can't offer vicki — penultimate Good Girl — a ring)#vicki's heart; affection; attraction; tied up fundamentally in Justice. and her position as narrator #making it all the more compelling that she writes Truth as vicki is navigating who *very literally* holds the Pen.#burke's story or roger's story? burke's [redacted] or roger's [redacted]?

#we had a lil party at the park by our house #played a bunch of lawn sports #and pickleball (we got a net and someone at the park drew the lines on the basketball quart already)#q. QUART???? COURT #LMAO #i was very active !!! and my muscles could handle it even with the heat !!!!!!!!#and we had yummy food my mom bbqed #and like halfway thru we brought the dogs cause it wasnt as hot by then #my mom has a little wagon that we put tess in for a bit and she was chillin. girl loves to be in a box #but seeing her little head peeking out kept distracting me from pickleball #and then we lost #hehe it was fun

I put Geordi in a food storage container in the fridge like two weeks ago thinking that surely someone would clean it out or pick up the container and notice there was nothing but a little plastic action figure in it at some point. After three days, I started moving the container to the front every time I get something out of the fridge. I even called my sister a few days ago before she made dinner and asked her to clean out the old leftovers. BUT HE'S STILL IN THERE. NO ONE HAS FOUND HIM YET. WHAT HINT AM I SUPPOSED TO DROP NEXT. HOW CAN I POSSIBLY GET MORE OBVIOUS.

#pickle pontificates #for those not in the loop my dad had a little 3 inch tall geordi laforge action figure that he probably got in his 20s #when my sister and I were little we used to incorporate him and worf and spock in with our polly pockets #but at some point we started playing this irl where's waldo type game where we hide/pose geordi around the house #and whoever finds him is the next one to hide him #unofficial rules are that he has to be in a place where someone could feasibly discover him (no back of the closet or storage boxes)#and whoever hides him is not allowed to straight up say where he is #this game has been going for literal years and he has actually gotten lost a couple times but he always turns up again #and this is probably a contender for the longest he's ever been legally hidden in one spot #the amount of star trek tng i have seen is minimal so geordi is more this guy to me than his actual character

House of the rising sun? beautiful amazing incredible timeless masterpiece? yeah?#all i want is to put on a cute 70s dress with the bell sleeves and some gogo boots and get my hair all pretty with the flip curls #and go to one of those really cool and dark and lowkey shady bars you see on the movies. with a pool table and a jukebox #hard-looking bartender with an impressive mustache named Mitch or Hank #and go up to the bar and he'd be like “whatya having doll?” “oh. anything sweet please”#and he hands me some soda-gin or whatever with a lemon slice. and the guy next to me notices my drink and is like #“hey Mitch. give the lady something nicer eh? maker a double from the back shelf. extra ice”#“i'm fine with this actually. i don't drink whiskey” “tonight you do sweetheart”#and he's wearing some really nice jeans and boots and a dark shirt and a leather jacket. dark hair but has some freckles. charming smile.#“what is a pretty thing like you doing in a place like this? i think them church youths go bowling next door”#“i am not lost. can't a girl enjoy some music” “does the boyfriend know?” “i answer to no one”#and he takes a long drag of his cigarette and chuckles. Mitch brings my new drink as gives him a look before drafting some beer #“so. the pretty lady likes a little danger eh?” “the lady has a name” .#i take a sip of the whiskey and try real hard not to cough. he thinks it's funny. i think he's a little cute #“does she now? and does the lady dance by any chance” and he's standing up quite tall and offers me a hand “she does”#and we go to the dance floor near the jukebox where quite a lot of people are dancing and eventually this song starts playing #and he kisses me surprisingly gentle and tastes like menthol cigarettes and hard liquors and I'm definitely a bit dizzy from the drink #he probably has a cute name like Daniel (Danny is what everyone calls him)#and maybe he has a bike or a really nice convertible. obviously red. je offers to take me home but we're just driving for a bit instead #“didn't you daddy taught not to get into stranger's cars?” “my daddy also taught me not to kiss pretty boys and yet”#“so you think i'm pretty?” “pretty enough”#and we laugh to the wind and the radio is on and this song starts playing again and it's a perfect moment #anyways. great song great band 👍#darya's mixtape #Spotify

FINAL FANTASY IV BEST FINAL FANTASY!!!!!!

Tbh I don't even remember why I bought IV on the GBA over V (I LOOOOVE EXDEATH) but I made it to the part where you meet Sage Tellah in the cave and stopped in that safe room right before the boss fight in the cave. The plot has me really interested in where it's gonna go though; having the protagonist slaughter like two entire villages back to back right at the start of the game is a WILD hook lol

I also appreciate getting to play an adult that's fully aware of what's going on in a FF game for once haha Though, I've beat 7 and 8, most of 10, and played only a bit of 9, 10-2, 5, and 15 so I know 4 isn't the only FF that doesn't have a young/naive protag.
