In regards to the limbo space where Ahsoka met Anakin’s force ghost, I honestly think it’s incredibly fitting that they spent their first big reunion after the Empire’s rise and fall just bickering the whole time. Peak sibling energy, like

“Goddamn you look old, anyways I need to finish your training.”

“oh wow ~so cool~ you’re here to help all of the sudden. Remember how you TURNED INTO A MASS MURDERER???”

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a fic describing the interaction between the Luke and the reader when they first arrive on the island. All I’ve seen is like, cut to after they’ve settled in.

I want to scale the faces of those jagged cliffs, my feet slipping over rocks as waves crash onto the shore below, urging me onwards to find him.

I want to stumble upon the cloaked figure meditating at the cliff’s edge.

I want that “Luke..?” as an air of recognition graces my expression, my eyes wandering his weathered face, rugged features framed by a scruffy beard and a mop of matted greying locks, until my gaze falls on those piercing blue eyes, devoid of any kindness or warmth they once held.

Its been a while for sure. In that time, there has been a lot of real life events, moments, and projects I have been working on.

Yes everyone, this fic is done. I will be posting the last chapters on here. I will be including an epilogue sometime in December to finally wrap up this story. Doing this fic for close to 3 years has been a treasure, and I will forever love Spike Spiegel and this fandom.

tell me about your ocs

HII ABSOLUTELY!!!!! ... well actually I. don't have that much in my head about them. but hiiii

currently my main ocs are an early-empire era crew of bounty hunters composed of:

a dathomirian bounty hunter who is force-sensitive but very stupid about it because he's self taught (Latros)

a nautolan chaos child (Kuru)

a givin pilot who used to be a jedi knight (Dji)

twin mandalorians (Arta and Viti)

they're not officially rebels but they definitely antagonize the empire much more than they obey it. and they have a very fun dynamic to me because Kuru was a padawan who lost their master to Order 66. Latros was a friend of their master and was asked to take care of Kuru. Dji and Kuru's master were padawans of the same master, and so Dji feels like it should be the one to continue Kuru's training. so Dji and Latros butt heads A Lot over how to use the Force and what to teach Kuru. (meanwhile Kuru is learning advanced ass kicking techniques from the mandos while the other two aren't looking.)

I think a lot about Kuru since they're the youngest and thus the most malleable, and I'm thinking about having them become a gray jedi with a side of mandalorian training, and the Inquisitors' worst nightmare: not a merciful jedi not a careless sith but a secret third thing (a gremlin with a whip)

Rewatching The Last Jedi makes me wonder if the writers were trying to make Damerey happen with the "I know" from Poe... when the entire film was basically a love letter to Reylo.

i think about the droid/automaton temple guardians a lot. like--

they aren't alive, but they aren't not alive, either. they have varying degrees of sentience. they remember the jedi, some of them outlive the purge, knowing the jedi are gone save for whatever knowledge they've squirreled away in their memory banks.

cator, the droid guarding the jedi temple archives with jocasta nu, had a personality. he was serious about protecting and sheltering the jedi's knowledge and their history, so dedicated that he stood up to darth vader in an attempt to keep the list of force-sensitive children safe. sure, it was in his protocol to guard the archives, but he didn't have to care, or love it, or want to do this; we see many droids across star wars who do not give a single shit about their programmed duties, while still executing them.

but cator works hard, diligently and carefully, because cator loved his work, and he loved the jedi.

T0-B1 loved his jedi master so much! and his master loved him so much that he powered T0-B1 with the kyber crystal from his lightsaber! of course jedi wants to be a jedi. of course he wants to fight and protect and preserve life, not because he was programmed for it, because he wasn't, but because he wants to honor the man who gave his life to save him -- him, a "meaningless droid"!

then there are the tomb guardians on zeffo.

thousands upon thousands of years they've stood guard over the secrets of their creators, a species so powerful and gifted with the force that they were their own undoing. do the guardians know they're guarding tombs, or do they believe their masters will return some day from the other side of the veil, and the guardians will be there, waiting, stalwart sentinels ready to welcome them home? if they do know, did they mourn? could they have walked away from their posts but instead chose to stay, to keep the zeffo graves from being desecrated, because they'd rather the world forget their masters than allow them to suffer indignity?

did the guardians love the zeffo? surely they must have, without question.

the real question is: did the zeffo who whispered metal ore from the stone and gave them shape, gave them sentience, gave them purpose, love them back? they must have, in the way we all love the work of our hands.

but perhaps the most pressing question is:

long after their circuitry should have degraded, their power cores cracked and dripped empty, their shiny metal carapaces rusted off like so much disease -- what could it be that keeps these machines moving but their love for those who no longer exist anywhere but their memory?

how could you not love and be loved by something that made you, purposefully, in its image?????????

2017 was genuinely such a funny time to put out the last Jedi. Because yeah, at the time, the only jedi other than Luke that could be assumed to be alive was Kanan Jarrus and Ezra Bridger (rebels), and disney probably already knew at the time that Kanan was going to die and Ezra was going to be on a missing persons poster next year. But because Jedi are sick as fuck and the rebellion/post rebellion era has gotten way more popular Disney just keeps... making... more ... Jedi. Cal Kestis (Fallen Order, 2019)
