Holy shit the pecking order normalised incest au got my brain thinking in a frenzy!!
so. imagine. tim's pretty fucking tired being in the bottom rung for so long and when damian came he initally thought that maybe, just maybe, he won't be the bottom ranks. but!! jay and dick are helping damian!! so unfair!! he just wants to be the one setting the pace sometimes! and not get roughly fucked to oblivion every other days!!
and hey, would you look at that, his emantipation still applied, who wouldve thunk? so technically. the wayne family has NO jurisdiction over him. he's a free man! he doesnt have to put up with them!! but he likes having sex tho, so he's still conflicted over staying with the waynes or not...
in comes. conner. offering tim to just join the kent family! they've got a pretty healthy dynamic (compared to the bats), and conner's pretty sure clark has eyed tim behind bruce's back, and jon has definitely oogled tim once or twice when tim was visiting the farm. and conner has been itching to get it on with tim (and secretly having fantasies of tim seducing him like in those step sibling porns). with a couple paperworks he can be a kent in just a week! no more getting forcefully bent over during work, dinner, or patrol!!
and tim is !!!!! that sounds great!! he's never been fucked by kryptonians before but hey! it wont be as taxing as having been railed by bruce, jason, dick, and damian in a row for a days! right? right????
(wrong. he gets. fucked to oblivion with massive kryptonian cock and endurance. but hey, at least he gets to top sometimes)
bonus: not pictured the waynes utterly seething at this and the chaos that ensued when tim left the family
(i'm probably gonna send more asks around this au. its just. -chefs kiss- delicioso.)
😍😍😍😍 tim deciding to join the kents because his family is full of cheaters who don't even give him a chance to move up or when they do put up a fight it's mostly them mocking tim and showing him they can overpower him. tim is the brain of their operations, he knows that and has normally never let it get him down but its started really souring his relationship with them because he just. can't. get up.
and they never give him a break either, there is hardly a day that goes by where someone isn't fucking him, even if tim wants a break he doesn't get it. sometimes tim has been getting fucked all day and passes out with jason fucking him only to wake up with damian on top of him because he found tim unconcious and decided to use him when the oppertunity presented itself.
tim is stuck at the bottom in his family and when he finds out he IS emancipated he gets hit with a stroke of genius. pecking orders only apply within families. your boss can't just fuck you to show you your place and so since tim's not legally family with the waynes they can't actually do this anymore!!
so when kon offers him a nicer, healthier dynamic because the kents (unlike the waynes) take turns being on the bottom well then of course tim jumps at the opportunity. fucking kon, jon, and clark is exhausting but not anymore than tim having to be fucked by his whole family. and for the first time tim gets to top even though he wouldn't have won a fight against any of them unless he had kryptonite.
but at least with them he actually enjoys it! he likes being fucked because he knows he'll get his turn being on top eventually and that living and being with the kents isn't some constant power struggle where he needs to remain vigilant.
meanwhile the waynes are furious because tim leaving has completely destabilized their structure and they're all fighting to avoid being on the bottom and not only that, it was pretty much unanimously agreed that fucking tim was the most fun. he was small and easy to hold down and lithe and he made such a pretty face and sounds he always tried to muffle. even for bruce who mostly treated it as a chore, he always enjoyed his time fucking tim. but now tim has left and they're stuck constantly watching their back for each other. them getting a taste of what it was like for tim living in the manor with them

I'm glad, that DC writers are changing constantly and therefore the characters are protected from the Bat-family. The Bats are the cancer of DC comics. There wouln't be any independant characters anymore if they could gez their grubby hands on the other DC families
That's another way to look at it.. I agree that they're trying a bit too hard to connect every character to the bats' storyline. so you might have a point there. maybe it would create more bad than good if they let batfam authors interfere with the other storylines... but i still wouldn't call the bats the cancer of DC. I think if you took the bats out of DC, it would lose like half of its charm and quality.
with all that being said though, i still think the biggest problem of DC romances (or comic book romance in general) lies in each run having separate authors. think about why harley x ivy worked. it's because both of those characters already existed before they got together. both of them were loved villains and later anti-heroes, they both have their own story, their own past and their own redemption arcs. they're both INTERESTING. and when DC made the risky choice of making them a couple, it worked.
i'm not saying it would work with any other characters, or that they should make all their major characters date each other. but if you want to explore romance in your comics you have to give the readers an actual relationship, involving two realistically written and interesting people. not a major character and their accessory love interest. that's my issue with tim x bernard, or jon x jay. no one will get attached to, or even invested in, these relationships because we don't know anything about the love interests. they're just some random people. even if you try to give them personalities they will still not have a story outside of their relationship with the major character. bernard and jay were only created so tim and jon would have someone to kiss. it's hard to care about them, and therefore their relationship. they're just boring romance side plots.
you can introduce a character with the sole purpose of making them a couple with one of your major characters and still make it work, like batman and catwoman. you can create chemistry with a new character just as well as you can with already existing ones. but i think we need more of the first option. less last minute love interests and more people falling in love. i think what makes DC special is that they show us so many different versions of their major characters, we get to see them grow and change (take notes, marvel) so it wouldn't be off-brand to see already existing major characters, like superboy and robin, ending up together. not when it's DC. to be honest i think it would be like super iconic of them to do that. and i also think that DC fans would much rather have their favorite characters end up with the kind of person they went through hell and back with instead of like, a random citizen. tim and kon have so many parallels. they're both people who didn't have to be heroes at all, but still chose to do it. they both struggle with carrying a mantle too big and the fact that they were not chosen for it makes them even more insecure. they also have a past together, they're close friends, they would take a bullet for each other. so much potential. dont even get me started on damian and jon. those two are like, literal mirrors of their fathers. they have huge legacies on their shoulders and they're like quite literally the only people that could understand one another. again, so. much. potential. i'm not saying they have to be together, but if DC was gonna write romance for these characters I wish it could have been with each other.

Ranking DC Pride 2024
8. Phantom Rodeo (Jules Jourdain/Circuit Breaker, Jay Garrick/The Flash)
Tumblr media
Dead last because 1 - it's not self-contained. 2 - it has nothing to do with anything Pride related and 3 - it's the return of the complete rando from last time. At least before the incredibly cool couple of Jess/Flash and Andy/Aquawoman featured heavily but no, because of detractor 1 Jay is here instead. Personally, I don't care about Circuit Breaker and I really hope someone else gets their spot next year.
7. "Hello, Spaceboy" (Starman/Mikaal, Komak)
Tumblr media
If I knew who either of these characters were, this would probably be a lot higher. But the competition this year is steep so at 8 they go. Komak and the blue-purple warp zone 80s color pallet is REALLY slick. I thought I was familiar-ish with Starman but clearly there are multiple people running around with that name who have nothing to do with the JSA.
6. "Lessons in Astral Projection" (Nia Nal/Dreamer)
Tumblr media
I stopped watching the CW shows that weren't about Black Lightning or Batwoman a looong time before Dreamer was intro'd (or after? I know I wasn't watching Flash way before she came along) but I knew of her and thought her powers and connection to the Legion of Superheroes was cool. I didn't like that there was no confrontation with Maeve in the story but it definitely would have gotten in the way of the feel-good affirmation vibe of the story.
5. Spaces
Tumblr media
I'm 99% sure I've seen mention of Phil Jimenez across various DC fan spaces, so the only surprises here were that he was LGBT and that they were bringing back the real-person issue-ender like they did Mr. Conroy. It was nice seeing his journey, and it being so well-told is a real plus. No superheroes anywhere in sight though, save Lynda Carter's Wonder Woman.
4. Marasmius (Pamela Isley/Poison Ivy, Janet-from-HR)
Tumblr media
Now THIS one was a ride. The opening left me a little rudderless and I'm not the biggest Harlivy fan so I thought I wasn't gonna get much out of this but if there's one thing I can believe, it's that if we had interplanetary travel the 'phobes would preach their nonsense across the galaxy. Ivy being an anti-villain is used to great effect here. No hand-wringing about morals, no reasoning with hate. Just do unto others as they would do unto. VERY cathartic.
3. Bros Down In A-Town (Jon Kent/Superman, Jay Nakamura, Ray Terrill/The Ray, Miguel Barragan/Bunker)
Tumblr media
This one 3rd because I relate heavy to feeling weird about being openly LGBT out and about in public. I thought it was a surprising feeling that doesn't get touched on a whole lot because people generally don't like to see that type of real queer struggle being depicted in media that's supposed to be heavy on escapism. This artstyle though. I follow the artist on twitter because it fascinates me how one person's character can bleed through so transparently in the way they draw.
2. The Rivers and the Lakes that You're Used To (Jackson Hyde/Aquaman, Ha'Wea, Orion)
Tumblr media
My bias for Jackson Hyde is showing but this story was also incredibly cool on its own merits. Orion being stone-facedly het for half of it was a choice but my boys showed up and officially got together - which I was surprised to learn hadn't happened long before now - so of course it shot up further in the rankings than it otherwise may have. Him saying he feels like himself when he's around his boyfriend is just *chef's kiss*.
1, Steeling Time (Natasha Irons/Steel, Traci Thirteen/Traci 13, John Constantine, Xanthe Zhou)
Tumblr media
Natasha and Traci's appearances were the only things about this I got spoiled on, but after reading this they've instantly shot up to join Jackson and Ha'Wea in my pantheon on ships. I do like how it showed the steps to reconciliation and they were both still clearly open to the idea of rekindling things eventually. But this artstyle makes me want to see a webtoon of these two YESTERDAY.

BatSibs Conversation
BONUS SCENE (in a Future with You Chapter 16)
At the moment Damian arrived and intervened with Jon and Raven’s dance, particularly where the children of Bruce Wayne stood, Tim was staring blankly at the three, and whispered softly. “Think they ever invited Jon as their third?”
Cassandra’s eyebrow twitched. Dick’s eyes widened.
Jason hollered and laughed. “Oh! I didn’t expect that it would be Tim who would say that!”
Tim’s face scrunched up, “Oh…I said that aloud?” He looked at everyone.
Cassandra smiled and patted Tim’s shoulder. “Did you take your cup of coffee?”
“I didn’t mean to say that aloud.” Tim added, Jason placed an arm over Tim’s shoulder.
“But it is quite the valid point, Timmy” Jason smiled, looked at Raven and Damian dancing and glanced at Dick. “If I had said that, Dick would have punished me.” He patted Tim. “I always wondered how she could put up with Little D for so long. This explains it all, they spice it up by having Jon.”
Dick rolled his eyes, “Alright, we need to go back and talk to our guests.” Dick stated and glanced at everyone as he pulled Tim away from Jason. “That includes you, Jason.”
Jason rolled his eyes, “I did my part already.”
Dick blankly stared at him, “Im not gonna cause a scene, and you shouldn’t. So reel in all that playfulness you have right now Jay.” And he stared at everyone with a firm gaze. “And we didn’t have this conversation. This shouldn’t get to Damian or we are all toast.”
Tim struggled in Dick’s grip, “I didn’t mean to say it aloud.”
“We are gonna get you a shot of espresso – maybe with a little something to wake you too.” Dick pulled Tim, smiling to look amicable to their guests.
Cassandra quietly watched them walk away. Dick talked to a staff member, likely asking for the coffee for Tim. She turned her head to look at Raven and Damian, who then shared a kiss.
“I don’t know if I should say this to you of all people, but I have been thinking that Raven has changed.” Cassandra glanced at Jason and it seemed like they were on the same page.
“I have been thinking the same thing.” Jason turned to look at the couple.
Raven’s ears were a little pink, but there was a smile on her lips and she seemed to glow.
“Well, on the bright side, she seems happy when she’s with him.” Jason added.
“Particularly happy only when with Damian…” Cassandra mumbled.
Jason clicked his tongue, nodded and hid a small smile. As if saying, ‘so it wasn’t just him who noticed’.
Cassandra and Jason glanced at each other, secretly agreeing that what they discussed is between them.

continuing my adventures of looking up old dc comics fandom drama, i honestly commend the writing team for making jay sooooo ambiguous in his nature and intentions towards superman in the first couple of issues that like half the fandom thought he was a villain, including the homophobes. no doubt bruce’s lil “you cannae trust the gamorran” fueled that speculation as well. HOWEVER, i think it also stands to be said that by the time SOKE vol two wrapped up, it was pretty clear that jon was NOT dickmatized, and actually did recognize that he was basically being recruited for an insurgency group, and was FINE with it. like the whole build up the first volume was that jon DIDN’T like that a superman’s morals had to “be a certain way,” and sure, superman won’t club a seal to death to feed a pregnant polar bear, but he’ll sure as heck give the polar bear the resources to do so herself.
sure he won’t strangle bendix himself, but he’s not gonna let crimes against humanity and posthumanity go unpunished. jon knew saving a boatful of refugees was gonna have SOMEBODY call him a traitorous alien terrorist, and to no one’s surprise, lex and bendix did just that. jay tryna seduce him into doing more probably came to no one’s surprise bc jon could actually DO things to further their cause. not to say jay wasn’t slick, cuz he most certainly was, but by the time we was wrappin up SOKE vol 2, jon’s pretty clear that even IF jay tried to seduce him to use his power against bendix, it’s only because jon LET him. you dont fall asleep on a man’s couch and put your full trust in him and NOT desire him some typa way. this wasn’t even a pull. jon straight up trusted that man to look after him in his most vulnerable state AND THEY HADN’T EVEN KISSED!!
and you also don’t spend your teenage years in a hell earth being routinely manipulated and abused and NOT know when someone’s playing the long game. despite jay’s game (and this is speculating he even HAS a game), jon i believe genuinely loves him, and i think the same is true for jay. jon had no reason to go out of his way the way he did after the initial heroics. he CHOSE to continue helping. similarly, jay coulda cut his losses after bendix almost murked them at the kent farm, but continued to keep his shit going bc even a death warrant is ok if he can manage to expose bendix long enough to save his people. unstoppable superman meeting and falling in love with an immovable revolutionary? if dc wasn’t so homophobic, we would already have three animated series and a movie by now. this is straight up a fantasy horror romance, and i support it!

In omega squad, were they in a relationship before becoming the couples we know now?
Ooo
So for Jon and Mar’i, no. They started dating at 14 and were each others firsts for almost everything (except Jon’s first kiss, that was technically Milagro during spin the bottle). People said they had a 2% chance of making it. They liked those odds
I think Damian went on dates, but didn’t have the bandwidth for a full relationship. Same with Lian, who dated a few guys and girls before Jai.
Colin dated two girls and a guy before he and Milagro got together
Milagro dated a future frat bro the year before her and Colin started dating (and lost her virginity to him). Her girl friends were horrified hearing about her experience (it was consensual, it was just really really bad)
The twins had very very shit luck with pervious relationships. TW for mentions of cheating, emotional abuse, and attempted SA
Jai dated two girls before Lian—Ava and Cassidy—who both cheated on him. Both girls blamed HIM for not being “what they need” which really fucked him up mentally. He already struggles with feeling like a redundant part of the team/in life’, so to hear he wasn’t enough for two people he really cared about broke his heart. It’s why Lian is so vocal with how much she loves him and how amazing he is.
Irey dated a guy, Isaac, who started off pretty great, but as time went on he started commenting on how much she ate, what she wore, how she was “showing off” when she did anything remotely cool, how other girls are better, etc. Irey knows she should have seen the signs, blames her self for a lot of it, but she was 15. The night they broke up, he tried to r*pe her. She only got away because she vibrated through the bed in her panic. She struggles with being held by her wrists for a very very long time (it happened during an inter-team training day and someone got their nose broken)

now that i’m thinking about it i actually really love the differences between tim drake’s and jon kent’s “coming out” comics
i read tim’s first, and i enjoyed seeing him figure himself out and not really understand what he wanted until bernard gave him that chance. being queer was a new and uncharted experience for him. meanwhile, jon and jay clicked immediately, no questioning needed on either side. both of them knew who they were and what they wanted off-page, it was as straightforward as any heterosexual comic couple. i mean, look at how long we had to wait for tim and bernard’s first kiss, while jon and jay had theirs maybe 3 issues after jay was even introduced??
it’s wild how different they are, but it’s so nice to see dc showing that there’s no one single way to be queer or have a queer relationship, and you can take as long or short as you need to be ready for it

A Heartbeat Away | Damian Wayne
✦ pairing — older!Damian Wayne x gender neutral!Plus Size Reader
✦ word count — 2.7k
✦ based off the song I Should’ve Kissed You by One Direction
✦ summary — Damian is haunted by the fact that he only said good night when he should have kissed you.
✦ warnings — light angst, mentions of pregnancy (a minor character is pregnant), mentions of food and beverages, fluff.
✦ author's note i — randomly remembered my obsession with this song and couldn’t get it out of my head.
✦ author's note ii — the parts in italics are flashbacks.
════════════════════════
Ever since he started living with Jason, Damian found himself straying away from the things that held him back.
His life would never be normal, but in hindsight, he could admit things weren’t as bad.
The fallout with his father came crashing down in the worst moment possible — Dick was dead and his relationship with Tim wasn’t the best.
As little as he knew Jason, he was sure he could trust him so he asked for his help instead of somebody else’s.
And Jason didn’t say no. Whether he had the heart to do it or not was irrelevant because he still took Damian in and helped him find a job.
He hated said job.
‘It’s a job,’ you had told him, ‘you’re not supposed to like it.’
You.
Damian rarely stopped thinking about you. Calling it infatuation felt like an understatement, and yet he couldn’t find a better word to describe the whirlwind of emotions you gave him.
He still remembered the day he met you for the first time.
Jason paced in the living room, perking up every time he heard a noise outside the apartment.
You’re driving me insane,” Damian said from the small dining table.
”Roy’s late.”
”Why are you surprised?”
Jason glared at him.
Both of them heard somebody stand on the other side of the door. Their steps didn’t sound like Roy’s.
Pulling the door open, Jason was ready to snap at whoever had knocked.
“You ordered something and gave my apartment number instead of yours. Again.”
Damian didn’t recognize the voice so he slanted his body to the side to see who it was. He couldn’t stop staring.
”I’ll make it up to you.”
”Jay,” you sighed. “I’ve told you before, you just need to tell me beforehand if you don’t want things to arrive to your apartment. My roommate could have opened it.”
Damian chuckled, a single elbow resting on the table.
Jason craned his neck. “You think this is funny?”
”I think you’re a moron.”
”Shut up and come meet our neighbor.”
Damian didn’t have to be told twice. He stood up with an eagerness he hadn’t felt since Jason texted him to let him know he had found the materials so he could build a suit and go back to patrol.
”This is my brother Damian.” Jason turned around to place the package under the table next to the door.
He knew you’d either seen him before or heard about him the moment his eyes landed on you. People always had a visceral reaction when they met him, some found him attractive, others attempted to ask for favors, and some recoiled in fear.
But you didn’t. You held his gaze and stood in the same spot you had been since you knocked on the door.
And whether it had been in a newspaper or a gossip forum, he was glad you knew something about him. There was something about the way you stared at him that screamed for him to trust you. Wishful thinking, perhaps.
“Nice to meet you,” you politely said, smiling at him.
Stunned by the fact that you hadn’t mocked him, and now assuming it wasn’t wishful thinking after all, he tilted his head. Most people did mock now that he wasn’t under his father’s wing.
Still, he said, “Likewise.”
Your smile became warmer. “I live three doors down the hallway in case you need anything.”
He felt a pang in his chest at the gesture. “I’ll keep it in mind.”
Weird sensations in his chest were normal when he was around you. Befriending you was easier than he’d ever admit and talking to you became the highlight of his day.
The pangs in his chest turned into a fluttering sensation in a heartbeat. You’d make him feel breathless when you did the smallest things — when you smiled at him, when you complained about other neighbors with him, when you asked about his day.
He felt special. For once in his life for being the closest he had ever been to resemble a normal person.
And he also remembered, quite painfully, that night he let you walk away without mustering the courage to tell you —or show you— the way you made him feel.
The deserted hallway was yet another proof of how easy it was to lose track of time around you.
Damian hadn’t expected to get back home past midnight or to skip patrol, but 1:00 AM turned into 2:00 and he couldn’t part from you no matter how many times he tried to remind himself to do it.
He hadn’t even expected to enjoy the state fair as an adult, yet he couldn’t remember a time he had more fun than that evening.
You gazed up at him, waiting for him to either do or say something. Anything other than stare at you in the middle of the hallway.
You had already thanked him for making you company, there was no way you’d say anything. And he froze.
“Good night,” he sputtered.
Your brow twitched. “Night.”
He watched you unlock your door and get inside your apartment with a heavy heart.
You moved out a couple months ago and he hadn’t seen you since then. The texts the two of you exchanged were sporadic and they bordered in formal.
He should have kissed you, he was aware of that. And to make matters worse, Jason chewed him out when he found out.
He still looked for you every morning he left the apartment as though you’d remember you had forgotten something. That you had forgotten him.
Jon said it was for the best, that somebody as sweet as you didn’t deserve to carry with his baggage.
Damian knew his best friend to be right, but how could he let go of you that easily when you made him see he was more than his mistakes and regrets?
He didn’t need anybody to carry him, he could drag himself anywhere if needed.
He simply hated the hole in the pit of his stomach every time he entertained the possibility of having to see you one day with somebody else because he wasn’t brave enough to say what he needed to let out.
The idea of being out of time was killing him slowly, so naturally, he’d sought a quick death.
════════════════════════
You gasped upon opening the door. You weren’t expecting anybody to be outside — much less Damian Wayne.
“Oh!”
“Hi,” he softly greeted.
You blinked rapidly. “Did you need anything?”
“I wanted to... Are you on your way out?”
“I’m just dropping this off for my mom.” You momentarily lifted the bags you were carrying in one hand. “She lives nearby.”
He spared a look to the reusable bags in your grasp. “Is she sick?”
“Pregnant,” you explained, playing with your keys. “It’s high risk due to her age so we take as much care of her as we can.”
Damian walked backward, allowing you to come out of the apartment and lock the door.
As you pushed the door to make sure it was locked, he asked, “Would you care for some company?”
Turning around, you gave him a small smile. “That would be lovely.”
He reached over. “Let me help.”
“They’re not heavy.”
“I insist.”
”Okay.” You handed him the bags and took the initiative to lead the way.
He reached your side immediately.
Not knowing what else to do, aware you’d let something slip if you didn’t find something, you made small talk. “How’s Jason?”
“As annoying as always.”
You still remembered when he meant those words, when he complained about Jason and how often they butted heads. His tone was different now, lighter, almost playful.
“Good to know some things never change.”
You walked the streets with an ease you hadn’t been able to in years. Growing up in that neighborhood meant which streets to avoid, and sadly, most of them were unsafe.
There were many things you could have asked or said, perhaps apologize for being cold while texting.
You were in your right to be cold and you could have just not answered, but you wanted to keep contact even though you were hurt.
Damian was great company. It was a shame you misread the entire situation and couldn’t go back to chat with him like before.
It took you a few attempts to get them to talk comfortably, but once he was able to, he didn’t look back. He even gossiped with you.
Stopping in front of the house, you looked around to make sure your mom had the windows open. Once sure, you walked up the front steps.
You withdrew a single key from your back pocket and extended your other hand so Damian would give you the bags.
The floors were recently mopped which meant your aunt had visited that day.
“It’s me,” you yelled so your mom wouldn’t get up. It was her time to be watching TV in the living room.
Carrying the bags towards the kitchen, you caught the jingle from a commercial.
You filled a glass with water and added a couple of ice cubes.
Your mom was comfortably sat on a recliner, feet up and remote control on her thigh. “Hurry back before it gets dark.”
“Don’t worry, a friend of mine walked me here.” You handed her the glass. “Do you need anything else?”
She ignored your question as she took the glass. “Who is it?”
“You don’t know him.”
“Him?” She lifted an eyebrow.
You hadn’t mentioned a guy to her in almost two years now, her surprise was understandable. “Not now.”
“Oh, so it is like that?”
Maybe it was and maybe that was the issue. She wouldn’t blame you if she knew him like you did, if she heard him laugh or saw him change his demeanor to accommodate to somebody else’s sensibilities.
You didn’t think you’d witness anything remotely close to that when you met him for the first time, but you learned really quickly that Damian was full of surprises.
“I’ll call in the morning in case you need something. I’m working ’til 3:00 PM tomorrow.”
“It’s okay.” She took a sip of water. “Did you bring anything sweet?”
“Homemade muffins and a few chocolate bars. Do you want one now?”
She shook her head. “I’ll wait after dinner.”
You kissed her cheek. “Call me, please.”
“Go, go.” She ushered you to go with a gesture of her hand. “Don’t make your friend wait.”
It was your time to ignore her comment.
Damian was sat on the front steps when you came out, looking up at the darkening sky.
“Is everything alright?” you asked in a whisper as to not scare him.
“No.” He shook his head and stood up. “I mean, yes. How’s your mother?”
“She’s good. Having fun watching reality TV.”
Damian squinted. “Is reality TV really that entertaining?”
“It’s mindless stuff, but it’s fun sometimes. You get to judge other people’s lives without feeling remorse because it’s most likely fake.”
The walk back was way shorter and you didn’t want to part. It was time to swallow your pride and your feelings for him.
He didn’t part ways with you at the building entrance. He walked beside you until you reached the elevator — Damian extended his arm to keep the doors open and allowed you to get in first. He followed suit.
You turned the lights on with Damian on your tail. He did wait for you to invite him in, but you were sure both of you knew there was no way you wouldn’t.
“I made muffins. Do you want one?”
Damian nodded.
You guided him to the dining table where a trippy vase in pastel colors rested with flowers.
He looked around the apartment as he walked towards the table. As he sat down, he fixed his eyes on the vase.
“Green or black?”
“Mmh?”
“Your tea.”
You could swear you saw him smile to himself.
“Black.” He placed his cellphone on the table. “You still have that thing,” he said, referring to the trippy vase.
“Why wouldn’t I?”
He huffed a laugh. “Jason said it was ugly.”
“Jason doesn’t have the best taste in the world,” you lightheartedly retorted.
The vase was precious to you, a gift from Damian who spooked you in the middle of a rainy night and made you knock your favorite vase.
You set a plate in front of him and placed the muffin there. “Your tea’s almost ready.”
“No roommate this time?”
“Nope. I miss Lou, but I don’t miss having a roommate that much.”
“I thought the move was temporary just so you could be close to your mother...”
“It is, but there’s still a long way to go. The baby should be here next month and she’ll need help around the house.” You disappeared for a moment as you looked for a mug.
Having found one, you dropped the teabag and poured the boiling water in.
“Sugar.” You put the sugar bowl down just in front of the mug. Feeling his eyes on the side of your face, you gazed at him. “It’s brown, don’t worry.”
He relaxed and uncovered the sugar bowl. “Is the father of your mother’s child around?”
“Yeah.” You sat down on the chair closest to his. “She remarried last year and her husband tries to help, but you know, work gets in the way.”
“Tell me if I can help with anything.”
“Don’t worry, you have enough things to juggle with already.”
“What’s one more? At least let me make you company or walk you home. These streets are dangerous.”
You softly nodded. From the day you met him you knew you would never be able to tell him no — and having his company after a long day sounded nice.
“So...”
“So,” you encouraged him to go on.
“Are you seeing anybody?”
“No. I thought I was a little while ago, but...” You hoped he’d understand what you were getting at. “I guess something got lost in translation.”
“Did it? Or was he too much of a coward to show the way he felt?”
“Don’t.” You hated hearing him talk like that about himself.
“You don’t know how much I regret not kissing you that night. I—“ He sighed, twisting his mouth as he frowned. “I can’t stop thinking about it.”
“At least now I know you did think about doing it.”
“I did. Many times throughout the night.” He turned to the side to fully look at you. “I wanted to find the perfect moment and became overwhelmed. Sounds like a bad excuse, but I swear it’s the truth.”
“I believe you.”
Damian scooted closer and reached over to place his hand on your face. Softly, he caressed your cheek. “I’ve missed you.”
You leaned onto his touch, tilting your head. “Me too. Sorry for being such an ass.”
“It’s fine. I would have reacted similarly.”
“Similarly or worse?”
“Worse.”
You laughed, making him smile.
“May I?”
“Thought you’d never ask.”
Damian leaned in, placing his free hand on the back of your chair as his nose brushed yours.
His lips softly connected with yours, but the slow pace didn’t last. The two of you had wasted too much time, thrown away too many opportunities to be this close —or closer— and patience wasn’t a virtue Damian possessed.
The chair was now balancing itself in two legs, making you interrupt the kiss with a squeal.
Damian then made you stand up and wrapped his arms around your waist. His lips were immediately back on yours.
Your hands went up to rest on his biceps as he kissed you again. His arms tightened around you as he deepened the kiss and you melted.
You melted into the kiss, onto his warmth, due to the fact that he wanted this as much as you did.
Kissing him had become a mere fantasy for you, and there he was, not only making it a reality but exceeding your expectations.
Grabbing him by the neck, you broke the kiss in search of air. His breath was barely ragged and you remembered he told you he could hold it in for a long time.
You needed him to teach you just to be able to kiss him for longer.
“That was nice,” you said, still breathless.
“Yeah, really nice. We should do it more often.”
“Are you asking me out?”
“I’m telling you I want you to be mine.”
All in or nothing, of course. Jason had warned you that Damian didn’t take things lightly.
But you were okay with that.

Note
that the existence of aro ace characters would be plainly born out of sanitized lgbt characters.-So rather than champion for better aro/ace and other lgbt+ rep overall you what want to blame people wanting ace rep for sanitized lgbt+ rep. What are you going to say all bi rep can only come from reducing gay rep. You really are crab in potting here. Also the idea that aro/ace characters are sanitized and non-aro/ace rep isn't is just a product of discrimination. Why you feeding into that idea?
i don't even know what you're trying to say! i have to assume this is in response to the part of my pride post that went like this "all the stories featuring gay couples being so utterly sanitized and so completely revolving entirely around first kisses & hesitant hand-holding that it makes moments like todd rice & damon matthews having on-screen sex back in manhunter 2004 seem like it was published in another world", in which case i'd like to inform you i'm talking specifically about -- and this may be obvious from the fact that i already said so in the post itself -- the gay couples features in the pride special, none of which include an ace character
jon kent & jay nakamura, jackson hyde & his boyfriend, the ray & his boyfriend, tim drake & bernard dowd -- all their stories revolved around chaste kisses, reluctant hand-holding, harmless little displays of affection to really drive home an unintentional point about corporate pride. let me be clear: these are all facets of the lgbt experience and the natural steps of young people figuring out their sexuality, that's all well and good but every story following these themes is cause for alarm.
like it or not, sexual attraction is a vital part of being lgbt and a vital part of many people's lives. there was a time, in a much more tangibly homophobic era, where gay characters were allowed to actually express their sexualities on-panel (todd & damon in manhunter 2004 are a good example of that still, as is john constantine or midnighter & apollo) and it's precisely this move towards an 'inoffensive' veneer that i'm talking about when i bring up lgbt characters' narratives being more sanitized than ever before.
however, you don't know how right you are about bi rep. there are, indeed, instances where characters are bi instead of gay specifically to assure straight audiences that they're still likely to end up with the 'right' gender or the label is used as a shorthand for the worst stereotypes it could possibly bring to mind. it's the same with obviously gaycoded characters being made ace, and i talked about that in relation to connor hawke quite a fair bit right here, here and here.

KELLY SEVERIDE
Skeletons and Whatnot.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Requested: yes
Prompts: none
Warning(s): none
Author’s note: I feel like this is rubbish, but I also feel like it’s not. 50/50 (1.6K words - might come back to edit it tomorrow)
Also you can see how tired I am (it's 4:30AM) I mean what is this title??? GOOD NIGHT.
~
"That's not possible. Check again."
"But I already did! Like a million times!"
"Adam, I swear to God-"
"Alright, alright…" Your colleague mumbled, turning on his chair to run the data yet again.
While he sat on the chair, looking through files he didn't have a clue about, you were leaning against the wall and shaking in your boots. Your heart hammered and your palms felt clammy.
Not possible. I killed him.
"No look it says right there," Adam declared; proud of himself for being able to gather information like this on his own. "Some girl named Lucy Riggs pawned a gun she got off some guy named Jon Prescott.
You squinted your eyes at the information that made no sense. "Get to the point."
Adam visibly swallowed, "Turns out the guy's name isn't Jon. Shocker. It's actually Parker Torres."
Your blood ran cold at his words. A million thoughts raced through your head. You wondered where he was, what he was doing… The questions that evaded your mind are usually normal, but here, when you thought about the dark man of your past, the questions seemed to be anything but normal.
"What about the gun?"
Adam clicked away until a picture of a metallic gun popped out. "Smith & Wesson Model 64 revolver."
Next thing you knew, a chain of vulgar profanities escaped your mouth, and you couldn't stop them. Ruzek's eyes widened ever so slightly at your lack of composure. "Mind telling me what this all about?"
You took a deep breath. "My skeleton escaped the closet."
***
The lack of information you found within the last couple of days was mind blowing. The only lead you had was the gun that wasn't even in your possession, having gotten lost in a misfit of undocumented sales.
Lucy wasn't of help either. The poor girl just wanted to get rid of her husband's gun, saying everything but useful information along the way. "If he wants a gun, then he better get a good one… A new one too! I don't want that piece of garbage in my house. God only knows who used that gun!" Lucy told you, just 48 hours ago. Those exact same words.
She was right about one thing.
That dammed gun went through so many hands and took double more lives.
And you didn't even have a lead.
"You look like crap," Kevin Atwater teased, handing you a steaming cup of coffee.
You didn't even manage to smile, looking at him through your shades that were, so far, doing a great job at concealing the bags under your eyes from the world.
"Rough night?"
"Mhmm."
Kevin didn't know that you no longer lived with Kelly. The temporary solution to your problems turned out to be moving back to your own place. Putting Kelly in harm's way, no matter how much he thought otherwise, was something you didn't want to do. The comfort of his bed and body were replaced by a thin blanked and an uncomfortable dining chair.
Dozens of glass decorations were laid out all over your apartment. On every window still, next to every door… On every surface, really. You slept on the dining chair 5 yards from your front door with a pistol strapped to your back, a shotgun under the chair and a rifle wrapped around your two arms, acting as a teddy bear for every time you dozed off.
Friends from Interpol would call here and there, with nothing more than sad news.
Hank Voight was pulling out every contact from his little notebook, but not even they could solve your years long case.
You wanted to throw up.
"Hey Kev."
"What's up?"
"You still friends with that FBI agent?"
***
"Second floor clear," The grip on your radio loosened after the second you needed to inform your team about your situation had passed and you moved on upstairs. You could hear them respond in the same matter as you held your gun with both hands and carefully climbed up the stairs.
You didn't let a sound slip your lips as you trekked the stairs up to the very last floor, save for the attic. For a drug house, everything was eerily quiet. It didn't feel like someone left in a hasty hurry.
It felt like as though there was no one there in the first place.
Your need to report that to your Sergeant faded away quickly once you saw smoke. It seized your full attention within a few seconds.
Smoke grenade was your first guess. Nasty things but nothing new.
That was, until you took several steps closer and the smell of the source journeyed through your nostrils. It clicked in your head immediately. Three years of being a squad lieutenant's girlfriend can do that to you. The scent of fire is nauseating and sweet, putrid and steaky, or something like leather being tanned over a flame. The smell  of it can be so thick and rich that it's almost a taste. Kelly's words rung in your head, and  you pulled your radio to your mouth.
"Call CFD! There's a fire on the third floor!" You informed, shielding your eyes. "Stand down! I repeat –"
Things went black after those words.
***
"We have a detective trapped on the third floor," Voight informed the first responders. "That's where the fire started."
Wallace nodded, "Squad 3, take the third floor."
Unlike Wallace, who had found his source of information in Voight, Kelly Severide had found it in Jay, who stood on the street visibly stressed. "Jay where's Y/N?"
Jay frowned, "She went to scope ahead. She was on the third floor when the whole place just blew up…"
"She could be unconscious right now," Kelly muttered. "Squad 3 let's go!"
Kelly Severide was already in the burning building when Chief Boden found out just who was trapped upstairs. "Dammit."
***
"Y/N?!"
Kelly's patience was thinning by the second. Knowing that his time is limited and that the place could blow in a stronger matter at any moment, he paced toward your unconscious body expeditiously.
Noticing the angry streak of blood that came from your nose had his heart in his throat. You were twisted in a way not normal for a human body to be in, catching him off guard the moment he laid his eyes on you.
Despite all that, Kelly still swooped in to grasp your limp body in his arms.
The stress of the last few days he went through didn't come close to a match with this very moment. "I'm coming down chief!"
For a moment Wallace wanted to bark back, but he bit his tongue. Love makes people do crazy things.
He knew that better than anyone.
"Get the hoses ready!" Boden announced and turned to the Intelligence.
"She'll be okay."
***
You were okay.
Maybe even better than you thought possible.
"Kelly wake up."
You smiled cheekily at doctor Mannig, who stood by your hospital bed, waiting for Kelly to wake up with the same thin line of patience as you.
You woke him up with a slap to his shoulder.
Natalie was beaming, her eyes sparkled despite the fact that she was the doctor to the most heavily guarded patient in the whole city of Chicago. "I think congratulations are in order."
"What do you mean?"
She winked before handing you the tablet, "You're 11 weeks along Y/N. Congratulations you two."
You shook your head wildly and pressed a palm to your mouth, acting out what your defense mechanism wanted you to do. "Oh God…"
"Really?" Kelly asked next to you. He had already grabbed your hand and gripped it tightly, holding you to the ground of your new reality. "Are you for real?"
She nodded, "The tests don't lie. I'm so happy for you two."
Natalie hugged you both closely before disappearing back into the crowded ER.
"Hey," Kelly murmured, grasping your chin with his index finger and thumb. "What's wrong? You're not happy? I thought…"
You shook your head immediately, stopping him from saying something that was untrue. "No, Kelly… I'm really happy."
Two heartbeats within one body. Your body.
A child that was going to take after you and the man you loved most in this world…
You felt so incredibly lucky at that moment.
Yet so guilty.
"Our baby could've died today…"
Fresh onset of tears attacked your eyes, pushing through until the moisture was dripping down your face, and you tried to muffle the hiccups with your hands. Everything started to make sense.
"Baby you didn't know…" He tried to calm you.
You shook your head violently, dropping his attempts into the water. "I should've known better. We didn't use protection... Then I felt so sick last week."
"Y/N-"
"But I was so obsessed with Parker Torres that-" You couldn't even finish the sentence because the guilt turned into anger. "God I'm so stupid!"
"Babe, look at me," Kelly's voice hardened yet the hands with which he cupped your face were gentle and comforting. "You didn't know, so none of this is your fault. If you knowingly went in there that's when it would have been your fault."
He kissed your tears away and gave you the softest smile ever. "Do you want to have this baby with me? Because if you don't, we can…"
You stopped him with a kiss.
You were venerable in the moment of the kiss, yet you never felt more at home. In this kiss is the promise of years of love and the sweetness of life. No one mattered at that moment. Not Parker… Not anyone. Only you two and the vow you just shared.
The next few weeks will be hard, that much you knew. You were introduced to a new reality and priorities shifted. The hunt for your skeleton will continue in the hands of the people you trust most and as months go by the light will greet the darkness of your tunnel.
But the next few years, you see nothing but light and happiness.
No skeletons to torture your life, but a baby and a soulmate to make it better.

Dying In The Batboys Arms
reqs: "do you write dark stuff like the boys reaction to the reader dying??? i love your blog btw!" & "Hi could I get some a n g s t"
sooo i'm terrible at angst or anything involving sadness because i ~fall apart~ and give up but for you two i tried my best haha and went for a HC cuz it's easier right? anyways hope you enjoy i cried like twice while writing this but i'm a weak bitch so i had to end them all decently to sleep alright tonight oops
Damian Wayne:
- damian would never let you die, so this would have to be you fulfilling some kind of deal or something unavoidable like yeeting into the speed force or something
- rushing to his embrace one last time and throwing your arms around him
- feeling him shake in your embrace as he whispers "please don't go beloved" and "ill never forget you" reducing you to tears as well
- your last kiss is salty and desprate, like he's trying to remember every moment, every feeling of you
- telling him it's not his fault and that he'll need to move on, but he's too busy promising to find you and save you even if there truly is no hope
- when you leave his eyes are the last thing you see, they were always your favorite and after years of looking at them it felt fitting they'd be the last earthly thing you saw
- as soon as you're gone damian isn't leaving the spot for weeks
- he's basically camped out, hair grown out, cheeks permanently stained as everytime he thinks of you he's crying again- making up for all the tears he held in his whole life
- jon is the only person he'll speak to, and even in that his words are softer than they'd ever been, damian would be to broken to hold his regular facade
- eventually jon coaxes him to return, seeing your belongings unmoved for months
- he'd almost undeniably quit robin, taking up a nickname you called him or wearing a suit in your favorite color, his only driving force after losing you will be the hope you had in him, he tells himself that even in death you're still watching over him forever... it may bit be true but it's the only thing that gives him a reason to keep living and not try to join you
Tim Drake:
- coughing up blood you'd search frantically for tim until he was at your side, crying uncontrollably as he tried to push away your hair matted with blood
- "hey timbers i don't think i'm gonna make it outta this one" you whispered, your hand reaching up to caress tim's cheek, wiping away the tears
- "no, stay with me help is coming i'm right here!" he'd scream spamming the 911 button on his suit as you shook your head "i might be dying but i'm not stupid" his eyes softened at the light smile that traced the lips he loved to kiss
- pulling him down to whisper everything you needed to say all he'd be able to get out it "i can't keep going if you leave me"
- squeezing his hand with every last ounce of strength you reminded him "it's not goodbye timmy it's a see you later, right?" with a soft nod he looked at you, eyes still brimming with tears
- "i've always been so proud of you timbers, don't stop now. see you later okay? i love you" the last words were strangled, but you had to give him something to hang on to as you let go, fading into the pain
- "see you soon y/n l/n ill love you always" were the last words to grace your ears, fading into a dull white noise as you slipped into peaceful bliss, tim's fsvorite soft smile permanent on your lips
- his family found him clutching your limp body, rocking back and forth promising to make you proud, repeated pushing your hair behind your ears because he knows you hate having hair fall in your face
- the strangled noises leaving his families throats as they realized what happened didn't help, neither did dick falling to the ground next to him, and steph bawling into jason's chest. duke had softly grabbed damians hand, both staring at the sky praying to whom ever was listening while bruce pulled tim up and into an embrace
- carefully the family left, one member- and a huge piece of their heart missing. broken at the scene.
- tim threw himself into work, determined to make you proud- but his family would catch him sitting in front of the small, supposedly secret, shrine he'd made in his closet for you, if damian presses his ear to his closet wall he could hear tim softly telling you about his day and what he did that would make you laugh
- months later he seemed calmer, no one could figure it out until dick took the time to ask. tim didn't say much but he held up his left hand ring finger and in a writing dick hadn't seen in months, the perfectly messy scribbles tattooed on his hand said "see you later timmy"
Jason Todd:
- seeing you minutes from death would send jason into shock, unable to move other than sinking to his knees next to you as you groaned with pain
- "at least hold me while a go jaybird" you mumbled through the blood trying to fill your throat. quickly he'd wrap his arms around you
- jason's embrace was comforting as always, you tried to memorize the way the scars landed on your abdomen and his calloused hands tentatively held you like you could break at any wrong move- i guess he was right this time
- "just hold on babe" jason was never good with words was he? with the last ounces of strength you cupped his cheek, bringing his head down to yours "stop talking and kiss me one last time" you whispered
- jason's hands fell to their usual position, one keeping you upright by holding your lower back, his rough hands creating perfect friction with your smooth skin, his other secured to the back of your head, lightly tugging on loose strands of your hair, it was like a puzzle piece fitting together, you melded perfectly to his lips
- the kiss was slow and loving, taking a moment you deepened it just to burn the memory of his passion into your brain before returning back to his loving and slow kisses
- you realized you were crying into the kiss when his rough finger swiped away tears, his lips never leaving yours
- pulling apart to breath and cough jason clung to you "please hold on please" you gave him a sad smile "it's okay jaybird i'm last where the pain hurts that means it's coming soon" you whispered, your hand still on his cheek, feeling the light stubble you always thought was so sexy
- "i love you jason todd, but i've never lied to you and i'm not starting now, this is goodbye babe" you told him bluntly, his face contorting as he pulled you back into his chest "no no no no" were the only words he could think of "i love you jay, it's okay baby" you pulled his lips back to yours until you felt the pain incoming
- "i don't think i've got much longer. hold me?" you looked up to jason who was pushing away tears
- "always" he replied, clutching you to his heaving chest as you snuggled into his embrace, you were sad this would be the last time you got to feel his heartbeat and chest rise and fall, you loved the feeling and knew you'd never forget it, even in death
- "y/n? babe? no" jason realized you were gone, and he lost it, screaming at the universe for taking the one good thing, crying like he promised he'd never, and punching almost everything within a 5 foot range
- his family found him bloody and broken, clutching your lifeless body as he tried to wrap him mind around what happened, he might never get better, the memory of your loss burned too deep and scarred too hard, but if he truly understood your love for him he'd use that love he had for you to drive it towards good, fighting for whatever you believed in most as an homage to you, hoping that when he next saw you he'd get to remember the feeling of you throwing your arms around him like you always did when he did something you were proud of, that desire was the only thing keeping him going
Dick Grayson:
- imagine an impending death with dick grayson, maybe it's a medical diagnosis and hope has run out, or a known death date, whatever it maybe- i think only dick would be a character strong enough to stay by your side through it all
- when it just became too hard to go on you and dock both knew what was coming
- he took weeks off nightwing duties, traveling the world and falling deeper in love, eloping somewhere deep in europe to solidify your love eternally no matter where either of you were
- the day it was finally time you were wrapped up in his clothes, your favorite hoodie and sweatpants that smelled of the warm vanilla toasted marshmallow smell you fell in love with
- you'd catch dick swiping away rogue tears all day, trying to make the most of your time together
- as the final hour ticked down you both let everything off your chests, not that there was really anything left
- nestling himself one the crook of your shoulder you inhaled the warm comfortable scent, willing yourself to never forget it when he whispered "i'm not ready to let you go yet" and it broke the both of you, sobbing into each other's shoulders as time stopped
- feeling death begin creeping in you were curled up in dick's embracing, having said your goodbyes to loved ones, damian especially heart broken he was clutching one of your sweatshirts, one day he'd grow out of it but you assumed by then he'd be over the loss
- "does- do you hurt?" dick asked softly as you soaked in his embrace, feeling his tears roll down your touching cheeks
- "it's not scary when you're here dickie" you whispered, pulling his lips in for one last kiss, as you began drifting away you shifted to rest on his collar bone, inhaling the vanilla scent that had been your rock for years, you were glad it would be the last thing you remembered, the best sendoff you could ask for
- dick watched you exhale your last breath peacefully, part of him was glad your pain was over, but that didn't stop the sobs from escaping
- damian crept in, still clinging to your sweatshirt, hopping up into dick's lap, nestled between you and dick, he'd only done it a couple times but he needed it almost as much as dick this time
- and the two held you together, more family members came and went but damian and dick held your vigil, together they helped each other get up and live, falling into a routine of sitting in the same position, your sweatshirt held in their lap, occasionally they'd raise it and take a trip down memory lane with your familiar smell still lingering on the sweatshirt, and that was all they had of you, but now they had each other. and that would have to do until they saw you again

18 with Jason 🥺
18."Stop messing with the lights" "... I'm not doing anything"
This one was fun!
Jason knew you hated two things most in the world: the dark and the Batcave.
The first one he could understand. It was easy to be afraid of the dark in Gotham when you never knew what lurked in the shadows. Clowns, murders, sociopaths. Being scared of the dark was easy when you lived in a city that was so filled with crime that crime was all it was known for.
The Batcave on the other hand? He could also understand. As many hours that he spent in that place, he could see why you hated it. Cold, dingy, memorabilia that only reminded you of Jason's horrible past. It was creepy in there - even more so when Bruce was there as well. It could be intimidating.
Of course, it didn't stop you from going there with him. Helping Bruce and his family or using their equipment for training when you were in town. No matter how much you hated being there - getting to eat Alfred's food always made up for it. It was the whole reason Jason convinced you to do in the first place.
Jason had dragged you down there once more to train with you. If there was one thing he had to admit about Bruce, it was that he had some great equipment down there. You were both drenched in sweat, Jason had rid his shirt long ago and remained only in his shorts that practically clung to him.
He watched you bounce in your place, light on your feet. His ankle was wrapped from the night before and a long along his chest. Gotham was always a cruel place for him. It would have been easy to take him down going directly for his weakened spots, but that was just playing dirty - which sometimes had to happen.
"What's wrong, sweetheart?" Jason toyed with you. "Nervous?" If he wanted to, Jason could win every single time you sparred with him. He had the height, the muscle, the shear force totally outweighing you. It wasn't just his body, it was his skill. He learned from the best - and now he was the best.
"Against you?" You raised an eyebrow. Before you could say another word, you dived into a series of attacks. It was easier to dodge than to throw against him. Jason grunted as you kicked right below his wound. He tumbled back a few steps - shocked by your move. "I'm never nervous."
Suddenly, the lights above you flickered. It made you falter for a moment, but you shrugged it off as nothing but electrical. Jason grabbed your wrist as you tried to throw another punch at him. He pulled you against his chest, back flat against him. Before you could try to escape, he grabbed your other hand.
"Babe, I think it's time for a break," Jason kissed your jaw. He felt you tense against him - not at his words but the lights flickering off again. It lasted for only a couple seconds before turning back on. "In the showers, two of us. What do you think?"
"I think," you tilted to look up at him. The new angle gave him the chance to kiss you properly. Jason let go of your hands and allowed you to spin around in his arms. He was so caught up in your kiss that he hadn't noticed you shuffle your feet to perfectly take out his injured ankle. He fell to the mat with a thud. "You're scared to lose against me."
Jason propped himself up on his elbows. His ankle now ached in pain and he was surely going to need to ice it again. Seeing your laugher was well worth his pain. You stopped immediately as the lights went out once more, this time longer than any of them before.
"Jay! You know I hate it down here enough as it is, stop messing with the lights!" You huffed. Jason pushed himself off the ground and threw his arm over your shoulder.
"It's not me," he promised. "Come on, let's hit the showers. The whole grid is probably going off. Maybe it's a ghost." You lightly smacked his chest at his ridiculous idea. It didn't matter what was happening - lights or not, you were safe with Jason.
Before you could strip down for a cold showering, the lights went off once more. This time, it followed with a loud thud that echoed throughout the cave. You couldn't stop the scream from passing your lips, as well as instinctively grabbing onto Jason for protection. He didn't want to admit it, but is freaked him out too.
The power came back on, but nothing seemed out of place. "You know what, let's go shower upstairs instead," Jason shuddered at the idea of staying down there long. You nodded your head and nearly raced him to the stairs to get the hell out of there. Whatever was going down there - you wanted no part of it.
"What the fuck was that?" You asked as soon as you reached the bright lights of the manor. Jason shrugged, he didn't have a clue. "God, I hate this place."
"Me, too, babe."
><
Damian couldn't stop his cackle as he watched the two of them run upstairs. Jon was crouched by his side, feeling guilty for what they had done. A remote was tightly gripped in Damian's palm, each button controlling the lights to the cave. It was way too easy to get a prank on them - especially (Y/N).
"Excellent work, Kent," Damian praised. He had timed it perfectly to jump down from the balcony they were hidden on to make the distinct thudding noise that ricocheted off the walls. "It was far easier than expected to prank them - and they don't even have a clue that it was us."
"We really scared, (Y/N), though," Jon rubbed the back of his head. It was Damian's idea in the first place - and just like always he had been dragged along to do his dirty work. "I feel bad, they're always nice to me."
"Grow up."

In your opinion, what’s the best way for dc to go about an actual cheating storyline between Jay and Jon? Whether it’s with Nia or not
they would need to invest in him long-term for once 😂
i know i sound facetious, but when i think about the couples (and platonic friendships) in dc comics that have the strongest bonds are the ones that really did have a good chunk of storytelling dedicated to just their Beef as much as their love. and it's not supposed to be the terrible earth-shattering beef! there's got to be investment in pathos. maybe jon doesn't even cheat, just gets a kiss from someone he wasn't expecting it from, and jay sees it! or maybe jay and jon have to break up bc they have Very Real couple problems like problems scheduling dates and being intimate bc jon's superman and jay took a civilian job. or maybe they realize they're going two different ways in terms of ideology, and find jump-offs! cheating is just one aspect of the human condition. there's love, loss, being stupid, hurting people without meaning to, etc etc. i still very much love jayjon, but they don't have enough teeth and don't GET enough teeth these days. could just be an editorial issue unfortunately.
the reason i like the potential in a jon/nia fling is bc a) it tells me ppl are invested in jon outside of the tom taylor complex, b) it's ok to be a writer and ship characters, and c) drama is fun.
is everyone gonna like it? probably not, but we all know dc fandumb might be loud, but it certainly aint buyin enough 😂😂 i say take the leap, bc i would read the cheating arc just to laugh. i think it would be funny! jonjay 5ever, but give that superman more trauma and a hundred bad decisions and bathroom breakdowns. let jay chase him with a bat 🥺

Note
Which couple became a thing first? Who was the last?
Ooo so I’ll do omega, but if you’d like Epsilon or YJL let me know!
In order:
Jon and Mar’i, when he kissed her on New Year’s Eve after they’d turned 14
Milagro and Colin, she asked him out a year and some change later, after the boys had their summer glow ups.
Jai and Lian following up a few months later, after Jai was stupid in a fight and nearly got himself killed
Irey and Damian a few months after that, though they kept it very secret…until the team found them in bed

Fall Like Rain On Sunday, Bonus!
“I thought you weren’t doing patrol tonight?” Kon’s voice was curious, warm and laughing, and Tim sighed, tucking himself a little further into the armchair and Kon’s stolen blanket while the super-clone made French toast in his tiny kitchen. Tim’s parents hadn’t cared too much for their only heir, but they did give him a hell of a stipend every month, so Tim had invested most of it into Kon’s apartment, taking some of the strain off the Kents and letting his boyfriend enjoy actually living without guilt or Lex Luthor’s ever-present hand on his shoulder. And…for Tim, it was living too, and he smiled a little as he turned his gaze back on Kon’s figure, wearing a frilly apron (a present from Jason and Bizarro) over a pair of sweatpants and nothing else, and tired as Tim might be, he really did love being here, early as it was.
He picked up his binoculars again, though, and glanced back out the window, just about making out Steph’s apartment and the distant figures of Jason and Steph snuggling on her couch, Steph an amorphous bundle of blanket and blonde hair in Jason’s lap. He freely admitted he was being a creep, but…he grinned a little when Kon took the binoculars, clucking his tongue in disapproval.
“Tim.”
“Just making sure the plan worked out. Which, judging by their cuddling, it did.” Kon blinked, eyes wide, and Tim shot him an innocent grin.
“…Timothy Jackson Drake, did you steal Steph’s waffles to force Jason to ask her out?!”
“Yup.”
“DID YOU SET UP THE WAFFLE DATE AND MAKE ME COME ALONG ON PATROL TO GET GLARED AT BY B JUST SO THEY’D GET TOGETHER?!”
“Yup.”
“…You are an evil genius.”
“Ye-up.” Kon rolled his eyes and leaned down for a kiss, and Tim snickered against his lips. “C’mon, it worked, didn’t it?”
“And you embarrassed yourself in front of Dami and B for the ruse too.”
“Eh, it was worth it if it makes Jason feel more like a part of the family. I know he’s not super fond of me, and I…didn’t make the best first impression…but I think he’ll forgive me once he figures things out.” Kon raised an eyebrow at that, and Tim gave him a smooch.
“Do you really think Jason will figure it out? He’s not exactly Dick or Dami, and definitely not you. No offense, but…” Tim just chuckled a little, standing up with a wince and limping on his good foot to the kitchen, purring when Kon picked him up and carried him to the little table.
“Trust me, Kon. He’ll figure it out. He’s B’s favorite for a reason, even if Bruce won’t outright admit it. And if he doesn’t…Steph will. Steph knows me too well.” Kon blinked at that, and flushed; Tim patted him on the arm. “Babe, you’re thinking of the way Jon jumps into things; Jay and Steph grew up learning to look before they leapt, and that only got better when they became Robins and beyond. But hey, it all works out; they’re now a couple, and they’re happy; that’s all I was going for.” Kon smiled at that, setting a plate of fresh, deliciously smothered in maple syrup French toast, lightly dusted with powdered sugar, and Tim groaned. “Fuck yes, my favorite reward.”
“Love you, Red Robin.” Kon chuckled, leaning over to kiss him again, and Tim kissed him back, cupping his cheek.
“Love you too, Superboy.”
