still thinking about the day season finale stills dropped and everyone started talking about how buck and tommy's date was certainly gonna be ruined. eddie will interrupt, the call about bobby will come in. approximately seven million "enjoy it while it lasts" jokes were made. many were okay with it, excited even, let's see where the story goes. some were worried. a certain chunk was celebrating because, yknow, bucktommy bones. it's gonna be nothing of a scene, it's gonna be under a minute, it's gonna be a kill order on the relationship yadda yadda.

then the episode arrived and... it was not ruined. or interrupted. or anything of the sort. it was just, after a long and hard day, buck's home. his boyfriend is there too and they are carrying their plates to the table for the dinner they will share, all casual. they choose to sit close to each other and because they're comfortable, cozy, even languid. there's wine sitting warm in their bellies and a song with the lyrics "come home and be with your man" is playing softly in the background. tommy asks buck if he's okay while looking at him with all the gentleness he holds in his big body. he takes turn to share his own troubles because he's comfortable with buck too. when buck gives him a coy smile and his words turn coquettish, he lets him lead them there. here's the season's last look at them and they're just so, yknow, alive. it was just so insane.

Well. It’s finally happening. Full on crying actual real life human tears over the silt verses and of course OF COURSE it’s because of Val she really is That Character to me dear god i seriously need to lie down im not even joking

it’s the office anon again your response in fueling my delusion 😭 (don’t stop) - putting them in mundane settings and letting them be - them - is so satisfying. Imagine an office birthday party. One of the most bland, neurotypical settings possible. While everyone sings happy birthday Evan stands at the back and stares unblinkingly at the person whose birthday it is. They can feel his gaze but they’re afraid to meet it. Barty hocks down like 4 slices of cake and when he tries to offer Evan some he gets a 15 minute lecture about why birthday cake is actually evil incarnate and should not be consumed by anyone ever. Barty listens to the whole thing and then proceeds to throw his own slice of cake out the window and starts making the rounds to confiscate everyone else’s bc it’s offending Evan!! And if we wanna talk about James - Barty goes for his slice and sweet, cheery, optimistic James punches him square in the fucking jaw for trying to touch his food. Evan is not watching any of this he left after he finished speaking so he could resume staring blankly at the wall of his cubicle.

It’s just, a year ago when Roy stood in that room and shouted “Tartt!” all the players backed away from Jamie, wanting to get the hell away from whatever was about to go down, but now they barely react, just keep going about their business, and the embedded (ex)journalist casually goes they love each other actually, they’re off to do one of their insane love things, don’t worry about it.

And apart from the Roy and Jamie of it all, I just dig that Roy – big, hard man Roy Kent who has struggled so with being anything other than angry – is seen and known by the rest of them  and maybe he’s still not great at expressing himself but they speak a bit of his language now.

does this eddie plot feel like my teeth are being knocked out of my head. sure. but at least i can see the path down the way that ends with eddie realizing that not only does he not need to be in a relationship to replace the mother of his child but that he probably shouldnt be in a relationship at all if he believes that his partner NEEDS to be a replacement for the mother of his child.
