anyway it's a novel about wizards having a mob war during Prohibition and I'm sure it will be available to some of you eventually

Yes we need more chaste twee baby gay romances like heartstopper and yes we also need more shows where men fuck raw to express their love for one another like Élite and yes we need more toxic gays having hate sex like Interview with the Vampire and yes we need more incidental gay characters like the dads in cartoons like Owl House.

It's not a competition! It's a hoard and I'm like a gay little Smaug.

since Eng is getting 7.5 soon(?), I felt motivated to go back to my Meleanor rig and make her a couple of lesson animations! ...except for alchemy, because the cauldron bubbles proved too hard to photoshop around, whoops.

maybe she just got lost on her way to the classroom...?

The Inexplicables

Finished reading “The Inexplicables” by Cherie Priest. Fourth novel in the Clockwork Century series.

Welcome to a Seattle shaped by the Blight: a toxic gas that slowly turns men to rotters before it kills them. Rotters, undead creatures whose sole motivation is eating anything too slow to escape. Rector Sherman was barely a child when the Blight was released by the Boneshaker, orphaning him.

Now, just 18, he’s been evicted from the orphanage that was the only home he can remember. His sole idea of what to do next is to enter the now-walled city of Seattle, despite the rotters infesting it, in an effort to atone for a sin that lies heavy on his conscience. The sin? The death of the person who’d come closest to being a friend.

Things aren’t quite what Rector thinks, however. People live there, despite the Blight, and the rotters. And something worse is killing off the rotters…

This is a great series: steampunk, zombies, zepplins, mad scientists, a Civil War that never stopped, and now, the Inexplicables. Clean prose, good pacing, and interesting characters are all attributes of anything Priest writes, and she is constantly and consistently raising her game.

I recommend the series, and highly recommend this entry.

someone was talking about Alice and Celia being anagrams and it’s times like this I really just hate Jonny Sims. Because you see, your first instinct is to theorize what that could mean because it’s got to mean something right? Wrong. This is the same writer who plagiarized his own birth certificate for a main character and then named three important re-occurring characters Michael….IN A AUDIO PODCAST.

Jonny sims is a genius writer, but he also wrote “there is no such thing as a name” about himself and his tendency to just pick names based on whatever first comes to mind. HE VOICED A CHARACTER NAMED DONNY SUMS. DONNY FUCKING SUMS ARE YOU KIDDING ME-

I know what t-gel is, but my brain refuses to internalise it. Every time a post mentioning "t-gel" crosses my dashboard, my immediate mental image is, like, an item from a cyberpunk video game that comes in a big clunky injector with blinking lights on it and lets you dodge bullets by getting you so high you start seeing the future.

(I've reached my limit of unsuccessful attempts at pulling them before I need to save keys for Halloween, so I've been living vicariously through youtube videos...but the fact that Gidel just pops up from under the desk to wave his arms around happily is really testing my resolve. D: I'm gonna die when they finally get to do alchemy...)

tos jim kirk is very funny to me because he is so bad with children. you'd think he'd be good with them, but he isn't. i think he probably likes them well enough, he just. doesn't know how to talk to them. not one bit. has no idea how to interact. kids can tell he's trying, but he's bad enough at it that they don't really like him more for it. type of guy who you'd hand a baby to, and he'd hold it out in front of him with stiff arms. like, um. what do i do with this. he could be coached on proper holding technique, but he'd still look visibly uncomfortable the whole time.

tos spock is Not Much Better. i think that he feels more clueless around kids than kirk does, but kids also like him more. he doesn't have it in him to be mean to a child ever, so all the awkward kids adore him, and he spends the whole time with them sending desperate looks to other crew members, being like, 'help, i am ill equipped for childcare' and everyone around him is like, 'nooo, you're doing great!!!' while the child has a blast and he is wishing desperately to be Anywhere Else. however, he does refuse care of babies. somehow, he is even worse with babies than jim is.

bones, though - he's a kid guy. he loves kids and babies. he adores them, they adore him, it's a win win. and he looks over at kirk and spock Struggling and he laughs and laughs and laughs. (the kids, of course, think this is hilarious, and they join in on making fun of kirk and spock, even if they don't really know what they're making fun of them for.)
