another super insulting part of the watcher situation i haven't rly seen ppl addressing much
ryan deadass saying smth like "nobody else on youtube has made tv quality content"
like... i really feel like it's important to highlight that bc not only do they obviously have no respect for their audience, but that statement shows they have no respect for their peers in the industry, either.
not to mention it is a shining example of bleeding arrogance to such a high degree, you will straight up fucking lie bc you're truly convinced you're that special when you're anything but.
there's been NUMEROUS online creators who were recognized by entertainment industry workers BECAUSE they made tv quality content & even full stop blockbuster quality content.
bo burnham started on youtube & is now one of the most wellknown & loved standup comedians of our generation, with numerous netflix specials & even a movie he wrote & directed under his belt.
the try guys, fellow ex-buzzfeed employees, had their own tv specials on food network (based off their youtube shows, btw) & a documentary made about them as well
rosanna pansino has also been on numerous food network shows both as a host & a judge
quinta brunsun, another fellow ex-buzzfeed employee, went on to create her own whole ass sitcom that has been highly praised
matpat cameo'd in the fnaf movie because of his theories & multiple other fnaf creators had small cameos through the employee of the month board easter egg
markiplier made multiple high-quality shows on youtube & is now working on a highly anticipated movie (he was also planned to cameo in the fnaf movie but couldn't due to conflicting schedules with his own movie)
hot ones got their own tv gameshow due to their popularity & they are still one of the most wellknown, beloved & respected internet shows
many short films made on youtube went on to premiere at film festivals & even in theaters
the hit horror film "talk to me" was created by youtubers rackaracka
webseries of actual fucking tv shows have also existed for literal decades
the list goes on.
to seriously think that overproduced bullshit is all you need to make "tv quality content" is not only tone-deaf, but shows they do not even know what they're talking about. many tv shows & huge blockbuster movies are made with absolutely microscopic budgets & small teams, & they still get praised & awarded for the passion, dedication, & creativity that shined brightly under those restrictions.
the blair witch project is probably the most wellknown & highly praised example of this, but it is far from the Only example
it is a whole other slap in the face, again ESPECIALLY when puppet history is one of their most popular shows, to spit in the face of internet history. to see the success of their predecessors, even ppl they fucking worked with at buzzfeed, & deny them of all their success & efforts to get where they ended up.
no, y'all are not the first people to make "tv quality content" on the internet. FAR from it. because your crap isn't even genuine "tv quality".
but you are the first ones to ever disrespect not only your audience, but your own fucking industry & your peers on this level.
& you are the first & i sorely hope the only fuckwads dumb enough to pull a stunt this fucking stupid, out of touch & utterly tone deaf.

this shot has been living rent-fucking-free in my head I want to fucking shout it from the rooftops WHY DOES HE REACH OUT TO HER LIKE THAT. why is it so slow? why does he look so sad?? 'Oh he's just confused' NO AFTER SHE SAYS HIS NAME THAT IS NOT A LOOK OF CONFUSION. THAT IS NOT THE LOOK OF A PANICKED MAN ABOUT TO SPIN WHAT HE THINKS IS THE DELUSIONAL STALKER CASHIER AROUND TO ASK HER WHY THE FUCK SHE KNOWS HIS NAME WHEN THEY'VE NEVER MET BEFORE.
Tumblr media
So Pomni understands here it's for the best to let Gummigoo leave because he doesn't remember her. or. OR. he does and can't and/or won't say it. why do you look away for a split second. is it because you are uncomfortable or is it out of shame. do you want to speak but you cannot? do you want to tell her there's the slightest flash of familiarity about her? WHAT ARE YOU NOT TELLING US YOU REPTILIAN PIECE OF SHIT
Tumblr media
bro this is not the goodbye you give to the weird stalker girl who's been trying to get your attention the entire time, even if she did seemingly give up on it and just give you a normal farewell. that smile is warm. it's genuine. it's wary but it's understanding. even if ONE TINY FRAGMENT of his memory survived the confetti obliteration, JUST ENOUGH to know this was once his friend and as such he should give her a proper farewell, I can sleep peacefully. but also I just spent the past twenty minutes trying to read the expression of a cartoon candy alligator so clearly I was never sleeping peacefully to begin with. I AM IN PAIN. I AM BY LAW A GROWN ADULT AND THIS IS WHAT I CHOOSE TO DO WITH MY LIFE

you could burn up a whole fucking sun just to see her again one last time you become suicidal because she's in another universe you stop your face from changing because you got that face for her but haters would still say you were just "infatuated" with her that your kisses with her were all non-sexual

i know we're long past penacony but i'll never be over how aventurine's story uses the rule of three. it's a common theme in art, i know, but we see it everywhere with him: three slots in a slot machine, three dice in his trailer, three screens behind his boss battle. but it's not just his character -- it's his entire life. three cornerstones for penacony; the three eyes of gaiathra triclops; a life in three parts (a child, a slave, and a stoneheart). the further you look into his lore, the more you notice it. everything comes in threes. except for one thing.
Mama only left us with two pieces of jewelry: A necklace and a lucky charm. There won't ever be a third piece.
and it's the one thing he values most in the world. more than wealth or luck or life, even. aventurine would trade the universe for his family. and yet, even though everything else about him works in threes, he only has two pieces of his mother's jewelry -- only two pieces by which to remember the only people that have ever really loved him. it symbolizes how his family's absence is a gaping wound in his life, one that he can never fill no matter how much wealth he accumulates. it means that his life will always feel broken and incomplete and wrong, and he knows this. he's aware of the irony of it all, because he points out that there won't ever be a third piece. he realizes what he lacks, what he can never get back, what he'll continue to miss for the rest of his life.
what must it be like to know you'll never feel whole again ...?

Technoblade: Before I get any comments from people saying, "Uh Technoblade– ☝️🤓 Actually I live in the San Francisco Bay area, and the weather here isn't as perfect as you say! I think you might be blinded by nostalgia–"
Technoblade: I'd just like to say that I am a perfectly objective source of information, how DARE you question me, get banned.
[ Full Transcript ↓ ]
Technoblade: You know, when I first got to college, I had a conversation with a local student where I mentioned I was from California, and they heard that and said, "Oh, you're from California? Have you ever been here during the winter?" and I said "Oh, no no, I haven't" and they just kinda like, stared at me in silence for a few seconds, and then just said: "Good luck!" And then moved on with the conversation like that wasn't the most ominous thing I'd ever heard in my life. What? What do you mean "good luck"?!
Technoblade: One time I went to Texas, sometimes I visited North Carolina during the summer, and I was like, "Why is it so hot here?" but I just figured, "You know what, it can't be this hot everywhere during summer, that'd be ridiculous! Why would anyone subject themselves to these conditions?"
Technoblade: I didn't realize that California was unusual. So you know, I'd listen to like– Sir Alliser Thorne in Game of Thrones rant about, "Oh, you don't know cold!" tellin' us about how, he had like, been in some blizzard– blizzard, and during like, sub-zero temperatures, and I'm sitting here like, "No, no, I- I'm pretty sure I understand what cold is, one time it dropped to 60 degrees Fahrenheit and I had to turn on my car's seat warmers. I'm pretty sure I understand man's epic struggle against nature."
Technoblade: Before I get any comments from people saying, "Uh Technoblade– actually I live in the San Francisco Bay area, and the weather here isn't as perfect as you say! I think you might be blinded by nostalgia–" I'd just like to say that I am a perfectly objective source of information, how DARE you question me, get banned.

I am fully in support of all of those posts that critique fandom's obsession with making the clones completely Mandalorian in every way curse you Traviss, and I think it's valid to take a second look at the impulse, but I also take umbrage with the idea that the clones have nothing to do with Mandalorian culture at all. Literally the most visible clone in the whole of TCW wears jaig eyes, used the same way the Mandalorians use them, and so do multiple other clones. Multiple clones also picked Mando'a names for themselves, or wear traditional Mandalorian hairstyles, and Boil isn't the only clone who wears some sort of Death Watch insignia (which is fascinating in its own right).
There's just - nuance to all of it, I think. The clones aren't wholly Mandalorian, but they aren't not Mandalorian either. Whatever canon you want to take re: Jango and the trainers he picked, the clones clearly picked up bits of the culture from them, whether because of or despite them. Especially considering Mandalorian culture was largely spread through conquest originally, and adoption, the clones have as much of a right to it as anyone, and writing that off or ignoring the fact that at least some of them clearly do consider themselves part of the culture in some way removes a lot of the grey area from them as their own thing, imo.
The clones are a grey area, as a whole. I think that's part of the tragedy of them. They don't have one people who are their own except other clones. They don't have one specific homeworld or culture. They were created literally to die as cannon fodder, and they made themselves into a people despite that. Taking away one of the major pieces they incorporated into their lives (in strict canon, even if you want to ignore everything Traviss ever touched) is weird and overlooks a lot of what's presented about the clones in TCW.
They don't have to be perfectly Mandalorian in every way. That's just as much of an injustice to them. But removing the Mandalorian bits entirely strips away a lot of how they clearly see themselves, too.

I feel like F/P/S was still a pretty weird one, even by Lance's standards.
sorry for (in an ironic twist) not doing much Ride Kamens art now that it's actually started; I've been pretty slow going through it and I feel weird posting about things I'm not caught up on! though I'm. definitely gonna have to set aside some time to actually get through episode 13, after what they posted today. (w-what did they do to my Leon) (NOBODY TELL ME I HAVE TO FIND OUT ON MY OWN) (LEOOOOOOOON)
