objectively one of the funniest features in bg3 is when someone catches you trespassing, you can just go “actually i live here. this is my home. what are YOU doing here?” and the npc will just believe you (if you pass the skill check).

Justin Chambers and Demi Lovato in Grey's Anatomy (2005) Shiny Happy People
S6E22
An elderly patient admitted into the E.R. for a heart condition sees a familiar face, a long lost love who happens to be in the E.R. as well for a fractured arm, and the staff find themselves caught up in their love story. Meanwhile, Karev treats a troubled teenage patient whose parents brought her in for schizophrenia, and Meredith can't help but tell Cristina about her suspicions of Owen -- which inevitably messes with Cristina's head.

Make March Matter
If you're in the L.A. area, stop by Uncle Paulie's on Spring Street, where Paulie James and Tony Cavalero have invented a new sandwich, the Make March Matter, or MMM. It's based on the Gold Rush Sandwich at the old Roy Rogers chain: fried chicken, bacon, barbecue sauce, and Monterey Jack cheese on a bun.
Tumblr media
100% of the proceeds go to the LA Children's Hospital through the entire month of March. Hopefully it will stay on the menu afterwards.

You misunderstand the reason tumblr works: we do not want to be presented with content that is high quality and will keep our attention. This is a blogging website, for casual blogging. We need features that help the casual blogging experience, not the social media experience.
If you add an algorithm to tumblr all you will do is make the user base feel less in control of their content and their experience, which should be your goal. If you try to accommodate everyone, you will alienate everyone. Do not make tumblr more like twitter. Do not make it more like reddit. Do not use other sites as blueprints.
This site is one of the last holding onto a semblance of user-friendliness, and to be more like other sites is to lose that user-friendliness.
You say certain things are confusing to new users. That is a good thing. It should be a learning curve, where they get to learn how to use it and have it be notably different from other sites. This is called individuality and for a thing like tumblr it is so goddamn important.
You will lose so many by assimilating into the expected visual and technical functions of other sites that are hostile toward casual users. I've been here for years, and I will keep coming back as long as tumblr retains the thing I love about it, which is that I can choose what shows up on my dashboard and keep things I don't want to see off of it. There are other ways to keep this site running, you are simply looking for the easiest. You are going to fail if you go the easy route. Please proceed with caution.

had an incredibly hashtag brainrot dream last night where i was watching cable tv and came across this show about two younger girls (like12 yo) who were professional dancers (a la shake it off) but they were in love with each other, and like, everybody was trying to get them to stop except their middle aged gay ally who was also on the fictional dance show, elijah wood. his character exclusively wore the most mid 2010s eccentric gay outfits and was like walter on yellowjackets but x10, and he had a george costanza type silly subplot each episode. like, while both the girls were in the hospital during this super dramatic episode, elijah wood had a montage of him unenthusiastically dancing in various outfits, including a sparkly pink short sleeve cable knit sweater, a black button down and a sleeveless cardigan, and another button down with sequined bow tie and suspenders. anyways, it was incredible and i woke up disappointed that it was a dream.

Dear Gotham Citizens.
Arkham asylum is not, by any means, the wonderland you portray it to be. It is a dark, cold, unforgiving place, which lets in the worst and keeps in the bad. With no one to help you when you are sad.
It isn’t a blessing, it isn’t a safe house, it only makes our un-sane brains worse.
The Arkham asylum you know is not real!
A blessing? It’s only a curse!
We waste all our days locked in prison cells
As men in suits bang on their doors
And if that’s not enough we wear prison clothes
And are constantly scrubbing the floors.
“But it isn’t a hell: it’s a paradise!
It’s a chance for you to be something more!”
Well if that is not hell then I promise you
You won’t like what your hell has in store.

More profound when you consider that Doctors Without Borders rarely makes political statements.
In #UNSC mtg on Middle East, @MSF SG Christopher Lockyear says: "Israeli forces have attacked our convoys, detained our staff, bulldozed our vehicles, hospitals have been bombed and raided. And now for a second time, one of our staff shelters has been hit. This pattern of attacks is either intentional or indicative of reckless incompetence. Our colleagues in #Gaza are fearful that as I speak to you today, they will be punished tomorrow."
He adds: "The humanitarian response in Gaza today is an illusion. A convenient illusion that perpetuates a narrative that this war is being waged in line with international laws. Calls for humanitarian assistance have echoed across this chamber. Yet in Gaza we have less and less every day, less space, less medicine, less food, less water, less safety."

Those old negative-pressure ventilators (like the famous/infamous Iron Lung) are pretty fascinating in a number of ways.
We favor positive pressure, pumping air into the lungs, via intubation in extreme cases, but that approach has a lot of drawbacks. The emergence of covid increased demand, especially for the kind of extended use that can lead to lung damage. I wonder how fast we could have moved out new negative pressure ventilators (wikipedia page linked to one kind) if we had better public health funding (both in general and not having been fucking gutted right before we ended up needing it.)
The negative pressure machines make it harder to examine a patient, but the relative expense (including training of medical personnel), non-invasive method (and lack of associated side effects, discomfort, and distress), and general quality of life seem like they would have been good to have earlier on (hell, modern technology arguably removes some of the restriction problems that older models had; theoretically you could wire a keyboard or a video game controller in there that could be used to operate a computer, tv, e-reader, and whatnot, which would probably improve prognoses from just the psychological condition of being not in pain and not bored.)
Not a lot of old ventilators like that are still in functional condition, and people who genuinely have needed them indefinitely eventually started having trouble sourcing parts to keep the things working. They do restrict movement but as an alternative to intubation in cases extreme enough to need it, they still seem by far the more comfortable option. Since positive pressure ventilators are so resource-intensive and invasive, I wonder if keeping both kinds around and transferring people to a newer model of negative pressure chamber if extended use is needed would be the ideal protocol. Covid is still a problem even though we're largely ignoring it, we could probably still use a respectable reserve of negative pressure chambers for all their benefits.
#ignore Morg#another part of why I find them fascinating might be the asthma/general breathing problems#if I were stuck in a hospital with serious covid and had the choice between a respirator and a pressure chamber#I would emphatically choose the latter#I already have chronic inflammation pain in my respiratory system and intubation is worse than that in every way#I probably wouldn't do well on it#I mean most people don't that's why intubation is usually paired with sedatives#there's also a philosophical aspect there that hits different for someone who feels kind of alienated from their body#the way I am#for however long you need a ventilator you'll be living with it.#I already have a lot of parts that I'm living with that are outright uncomfortable#both physical and psychological. I feel like I might see ''less'' difference between that kind of machine and my own lungs#than someone who isn't restricted (through pain) to not being in certain places/conditions and not doing certain activities#It's a good question whether having the choice of which ventilator might be comparable#to restricting one's own activity to avoid pain and injury. just applied to a much more serious condition#... anyway. I should cut this off at some point#not allowing reblogs because it is 1:30AM and I am absolutely tired-philosophizing like one does. actually#maybe that's why I do more at night. lowered inhibitions turn a fairly paralyzing anxiety disorder into something closer to functional#There is so much fucking wrong with me. It's stupid.
