i have a theory i must share
willabella muckwab seduced one of the hatchetmen and had a daughter, and then down the line pamela foster was born and she had lex and hannah
lex and hannah are descended from the first disciple of the lords in black and someone who sought to destroy any trace of them
lex and hannah have both extremes in their dna
lex and hannah are the black and white
#is this anything#ive been thinking about this for days#i hope we learn more about the fosters history in orbweaver#willabella muckwab#the hatchetmen#pamela foster#lex foster#hannah foster#the black and white#hatchetfield#hatchetverse#hatchetfield theories#tgwdlm#black friday#npmd#nightmare time#nmt#nmt2#nmt3#starkid#team starkid#my post

Bob Metzger has done nothing wrong ever. He's just taking care of the woods. Yeah he plants people. So what? We all have our quirks. He deserves to be carried around by his family, he's my grandpa and he's been alive for more than a hundred years. Just let this old man do his gardening.

I wrote a Hatchetmen Nursery Rhyme (link to it on Ao3) and below the cut I've put an analysis of each verse/stanza, just to explain why I wrote each one the way I did!
This is just a warning about passing over the Hatchetmen's graves within the cemetery. The starting point of this poem was this idea I had of children playing in the cemetery and hearing whispers coming from the graves (thus the cemetery got the name Whispering Graves which eventually became Whispering Grove). There is an implication that the Hatchetmen are always watching.
Our first chorus segment! So Nick Lang has said that the Hatchetmen's motto was Sam Raimi's rules of horror: "The innocent must suffer, the guilty must be punished. You must taste blood to be a man." This stanza addresses the first two points about the innocent and the guilty.
This verse I'm not too sure of tbh. Punctuations a little messy, not fond of my word choice, but it gets the message I wanted across. The stories paint the Hatchetmen in a good light, but the narrator wants you to forget that. The narrator is addressing the dangers of the Hatchetmen.
And in this second chorus, we address the final line of the Sam Raimi quote: "You must taste blood to be a man." This one was a little hard to figure out, but I'm pleased with it! And we of course address the children with "a touch of The Gift" here.
This is a further explanation of The Gift. The narrator sees The Gift as a blessing. Referencing the fae is purely because I couldn't figure out how else to describe their gifts, especially from a late 19th century perspective. "Their line" references the Metzgers and how they continue to find anyone with The Gift (adult or child, children is more of a "the children of The Gift" thing than literal children here). And then the last line talks about how the Hatchetmen would bury the Gifted in the ground until they sprung up as trees to form the Witchwood Forest.
Here, the narrator encourages the Gifted to keep their powers hidden for fear of the Hatchetmen. "They'll set your soul adrift" alludes to the idea that the Hatchetmen will kill them for their powers.
The morning bell was supposed to be a double entendre, implying that the Hatchetmen would seek the Gifted out under the cover of night, but also, with the homophone "morning/mourning", that the Hatchetmen would only end their chase once the Gifted were dead. The final two lines show the Hatchetmen's thirst for blood. If they could not get their hands on a specific Gifted, they would kill others, perhaps to draw out their prey.
Here, the narrator refers to the Gift as a sin, perhaps because that is what the narrative of the time is, or perhaps to mock the Hatchetmen. The final line is a warning. If they can't have you, they'll take your family.
I believe this was the first part I wrote. The "light turning dark" references the end of the Hatchetmen's lives followed by their burials. The final two lines suggest that the Hatchetmen would return to the living if Willabella Muckwab ever came back.
The narrator is not be a fan of Willabella Muckwab (in my head, they blame her for the Gifted being demonised), so the first part is bitterly pleased. The final line is a warning. Once they've got Willabella, they won't stop there. So run.
There are five verses (and five choruses) for five Lords in Black!
Rhyme Scheme: ABCB
Metre:
Verse: xx-/xx-/-- x-/x-/x-/x- xx-/xx-/-- x-/x-/x-/x-
Chorus: x-/x-/x-/x- x-/x-/x- x-/x-/x-/x- x-/x-/x-

This, So much this thaaaaank youuuuu
I love how the Metzgers are not the good guys. In a more simple story, the characters going up against the deeply evil Church of the Starry Children and by extension the Lords in Black would be a force of good. Flawed, perhaps, but ultimately characters you root for.
But Hatchetfield is far more complex. The Metzgers, and possibly the Hatchet Men overall, are prejudiced, ignorant about much of the world, and have a history of burying innocent children alive for the simple crime of being different. One of their defining credos is literally "the innocent must suffer."
It's just so much more interesting, and fitting for a universe of tragedy in which most of the musical installments conclude with the end of the world.
(watching Perky's Buds with @blinkysrewatchparty right now!)

Hey, Mom, do you have any marks from your deal with the Lord's anywhere?
@ashley-retro
Why do you ask, hun?
#hatchetfield rp#ooc - just for reference my Holloway's deal was slightly different than the canon one#she was trying to protect herself from the Hatchetmen by making everyone love her#and her deal was more with Pokey than all the Lords

Swordbreaker
(Apologies, I might be misremembering things)
I said this in the tags of another post, but I wanted to dedicate an actual post to it.
To put it simply, I think that Chihiro is going to destroy the enchanted blades.
(Heavy Spoilers Below)
It’s still early in the series, but Chihiro has seen how his father’s intent with blades have been twisted by men like Sojo, and heard Hiyuki’s opinion of how the blades are too powerful to be possessed by anyone except the Kamunabi.
That, combined with the fact that one of the swords has already been irreparably damaged, makes me think that eventually Chihiro is going to come to the conclusion that the blades are just too dangerous to be used. He’s already realized that his father ultimately put something horrible in the world, even if it ended the Seitei war. Even if he collects them again, it’ll only be a matter of time until their users die or the swords are once again seized by malevolent forces, so it’s probably for the best that they are disposed of permanently.
As for how…
Well, the Enchanted Blade are supposedly indestructible, but we’ve already seen him destroy Cloud Gouger, which means:
A): Enchanted Blades can be destroyed by other Enchanted Blades. We’ve been told (I think) that before Sojo and Chihiro, the Enchanted Blades were never raised against each other in anger, so the vulnerability was never exposed.
Or, the more intriguing answer…
B) Enten was designed to destroy the other Enchanted Blades. We’re told early on that Kunishige spent years creating Enten, after the war. Now, this could be for another reason, but perhaps, Kunishige, knowing the power his swords held and the destruction they could unleash in the wrong hands, sought to destroy them once and for all…
And ultimately, that’s how Chihiro might be able to honour his father, laying his father’s soul to rest by destroying his tools of war, and ending any further conflict over the possession of the blades.
#Kagurabachi#Kagurabachi Spoilers#Analysis#Stay Tuned (Don't) for my following theories#The key to the Enchanted Blades is the presence of souls and Enten has Kunishige's#And Kunishige's death was a power grab by the Kamunabi gone wrong when their hatchetmen went rogue.

Thinking about how the only two people that say "daaaaady" like that are Sherman, and Bob Metzger, the guy who most certainly killed Sherman's dad. Does Sherman remember voices he heard when he was just a few months old? This is horrifying and very sad.
Edit: @deathbutwithfuzzyanimals pointed out that Grace says that too. Maybe it's because they're unhinged, maybe it's an overbearing parent theme, I just think it's cool. Also I need Grace and Sherman to meet.

[ STRADDLE ] (hatchetmen) ((Fawn and Max? Idk thinking about the them))
[ STRADDLE ] : sender straddles receiver @hatchetmen
Max had grown to enjoy his "enrichment" time out of his seemingly perpetual torment in the black and white, yeah it sucked that nobody seemed to miss him at all, not even the people he had considered his friends in his life, but at least he got to hang out with Fawn and their siblings and they didn't seem to like totally hate him. He thought despite being her father and uncle's plaything that she actually was fond of him, something that he got proof of on this day out. He and Fawn had just been hanging out in her room, sitting on the bed chatting for a bit, but surprisingly he soon found Fawn straddling his lap. He hadn't had this kind of physical contact for months and already he could feel himself getting excited. Another sort of forbidden fruit moment for him, the daughter of one of his tormentors who probably wouldn't give a shit if they fucked but it still felt like it was something kinda taboo. "Oh shit, really," he asked, his hands almost instantly going to her waist as if it was second nature to him. He hadn't been secretive about the fact he found Fawn attractive, but he didn't really think anything would happen between the two of them.
