Like, literally as far as he knows, neither Luz nor Eda can do magic. Ergo, from the perspective of someone raised in a magic based society, with a naturally magic centric viewpoint (even if he himself has a complex relationship with it and often has to think beyond magic to do things), he literally can't fathom them being able to fake it so convincingly. There's no way bc he literally doesn't know about other ways of doing magic beyond staffs and spell circles.

The Brittany Theory

A little theory idea I wanted to share that's been on my mind lately: This has to do with the introduction of Brittany in season 2 and it would appear this came out of nowhere, but I have a hunch that it didn't.

In season ones episode Charlie dies and doesn't come back, Charlie is rescued from hell by god (having them voiced by Gilbert Godfrey btw was great lol) then sent back to earth. The devil is foiled and we move on to Charlie never speaking about it again. This episode was after frowning friends where Grim and gnarly were introduced, attempting to ruin Smiling Friends but ultimately failing. My overanalyzing brain thought about a possible connection of the two episodes, mainly the part where the devil says 'foiled again!'.

Since he's the devil it could be that a deal he made was ruined....or it could be that frowning friends was his doing, so he could destroy smiling friends to make the world a more miserable place. We never really see who the boss is for frowning friends so I could argue that the devil is the one pulling the strings.

But what if he wasn't? What if Brittany had been sent to earth earlier and was the boss behind the scenes of frowning friends? She's definitely powerful enough to control people's minds to do her bidding, so it's possible Grim and gnarly could have worked under her. We come back to the season 2 episode where Mr. Boss gets married to satan's daughter, whose plan is to drain Mr. Boss of his life source and take his kingdom, which is smiling friends. There's a clear lack of information as to how they met, so in my mind the easiest solution is through a dating app. She would have made her move after frowning friends so there could be no way to track her back to the company, leaving her as just someone "looking for love" on the app.

I also want to point out Charlie's hesitation in the episode when he's all ready to kill Brittany, but he tells Pim to do it. This could be because the devil knows Charlie and has a beef with him, so if he killed Brittany things could become very bad for the people Charlie cares about (aka every one of the smiling friends.)

So in summary my theory is that Satan sent Brittany to earth in season one as the unmentioned boss of frowning friends, in order to destroy smiling friends. When that failed she began courting Mr. Boss through a dating app posing as a "regular person looking for love" and wasn't suspected, because this universe is full of oddities that everyone just accepts. She got married to the boss, attempted to take over his life force and kingdom, then failed.

In my Hamburger Shonen Au Irma is actually a legit real girl. The Irma that April was friends with was still Gilbert Godfrey, BUT the real human Irma is in stasis somewhere in a Kraang lab (sort of like fake April’s mother in ‘buried secrets’). She’s like. Being used for uhhhh perfecting the robot model to be as real as possible, as well as being able to perfect cloning technology and all that.

So. During one of the turtles escapades they find her and they’re like. Holy fuck. Is that the original Irma ???? And they save her (after making sure she isn’t a robot). But here’s the difficult part. She’s been in stasis for about 20 years. Any family she had has long since moved out of NY, and she has no idea how to find em. So she kinda has nobody to turn to for support except the dudes who saved her, yeah?

Anyway uhhhh Irma and Donnie get along really well bc they’re both Velma types yknow. And he gets attached to her :)

I just think Donnie, now that he has someone who he actually has stuff in common with and really really likes, would realize that the ‘romance’ he felt toward April was just him trying to feel more normal by liking what he thought was the ideal girl.

But don’t even worry Donnie and April are still very best friends and they care each other I promise.

Rosalind had never properly been prepared to be a wife. Not fully. How could she, only eighteen years old when she was attached to someone forever. It was something she’d expected, of course, and from a young age she’d had it instilled in her what it meant, how to be a good wife. But that meant nothing, didn’t it? When despite all the effort you put in to make things outwardly look perfect, you were lonelier than you’d ever been. That her bed at Winbourne House felt more like home than the one she shared with her husband of eight months. But still, she was up early, putting on the perfect dress, making sure there wasn’t a single flaw in her appearance, set to stand next to her husband and father in law at the press conference they had called that morning. She had no idea what it was they were announcing, a thought that annoyed her, only that she needed to be the dutiful wife once again and look proud.

And she did just that. As Godfrey proudly announced that they were moving their potion, a vaccine if you will, for Squibs into human trials, she wore a smile on her face. Her hand sat in Gilbert’s, and she beamed as he took his turn to answer questions. But inside her blood was boiling. No, more than that, it was rippling, rushing away like a tidal wave about to destroy a small village. As perfect as she was on the outside, inside was a storm. For all the times that Rosalind had voiced she wanted to be involved in the Apothecary, for all the times she’d asked Gilbert what he was working on. Here, on this stage, at this press conference, was the first she was hearing of it all. She had no idea that they had spent the past six months developing this potion. Nor that it had been an idea buzzing around in Godfrey’s head, ever since he’d heard about the little Squib his son seemed so fond of. He’d used that to his advantage, Godfrey had, to twist Gilbert’s arm into joining him on this endeavour. 

“I want to be involved.” Rosalind demanded as soon as the doors were shut behind them. “I’m just as good at this as Gilbert. Better, even.” The fire behind her eyes could have burned as red as her hair as she glared back and forth between the two. They all knew it, that Rosalind’s skills when it came to potions were extraordinary. It was a natural gift that she never needed to work at. The fact she did work at it only caused her to excel even more. But before she could even finish her sentence Godfrey was laughing. “Don’t be silly, Rosalind. It’s not your place to help.” Rosalind’s glare burned even brighter as she turned it on Gilbert. Some stupid little part of her expected him to support her in this, to tell his father how good she was. He’d know, they’d spent many hours brewing together. It was the only time she could stand him these days. But instead there was a cold expression on his face, his voice monotone as he only added to his fathers statement. “I think you should focus on school. And your parties.” The emphasis was there. That she should stay in her lane. She was there as a wife, as a display, nothing more. And with that the two Selwyn men turned away from the conversation, and her.

She may have been a fiery storm underneath, but she was still Rosalind Nott. No matter who she married, or what they denied her, she still had that. It was with her head held high that she left the apothecary and remembered the promise she had made herself only months before. She wasn’t going to sit back and be the perfect wife, let herself get trampled out. No. This was not the life she would continue to live, not in the slightest.

Before I watched this movie, I should let it be clear, I hate the concept of Live Action remakes.

 I get it, you want to make money. But, if you are gonna remake it, actually change up the scenes.

Thats what I want Live action remakes to do, REMAKE THE STORY. Because there is no way you can tell the exact same story the same way but in live action and expect people to be thrilled with it.

Does the New Aladdin do this?

Spoilers below

-The movie starts with Will Smith on a boat telling kids the story of Aladdin, this is a change from the old merchant at night. 

-The song “Arabian nights” had its lyrics changed for obvious reasons. But it was still pretty decent. But not better sounding then the original.

-Aladdin’s introduction and how he went about stealing was a lot cooler then in the original, it was like watching an actual pickpocket. I even liked how he sold his goods.

-Him giving the bag of dates to the kids instead of eating it, much like he does the bread in the original. Its a cute change up, but it loses a bit of impact because he didn't have to go through an ordeal to get the food like he does in the original during the song “One Jump ahead’.

-Jasmine’s intro was much better in this one, and showing off Aladdin’s quick hands at swiping was also clever.

-Jasmine was incorporated in the chase and song “One Jump ahead” I really enjoyed this different take. I even would say I enjoyed this chase better.

-Aladdin’s pad is so much cooler in this.

-Jasmine calling herself Dalia, the name of her handmaiden was clever. Also having Abu steal from Jasmine so Aladdin had a reason to sneak into the palace to return the bracelet.

-Jafar is a lot less silly and a lot more brutal in this. I love it.

-I miss Gilbert Godfrey, but damn it Iago was amazing in this and I would say I love this Parrot even more then the original.

-Speechless was a good song and Jasmine needed a song, I liked this addition

-Aladdin sneaking into the palace was cool

-I like the dumbass viking prince man.

-The whole seen with Dalia figuring out Jasmine was pretending to be her was hilarious.

-Aladdin meeting Jafar for the first time was a lot better then in the original.

-Jafar and Aladdin having parallels. Jafar being quick enough to steal from Aladdin is also hella boss. its like Jafar is a dark future version of Aladdin.

-”Steal an apple, you're a thief, Steal a kingdom, you’re a statesman.” Damn it thats a good line.

-The cave of Wonders seemed cooler in this.

-Abu is both awful and great in this, but I like the cartoon version better.

-Okay, time to address the Genie in the room, How does Will Smith hold up as the Genie.

-He is different enough that it doesn't seem jarring. I actually really liked Will’s Genie. Playing it a touch more jaded and trying to make the most of the little freedom he has. His bond with Aladdin seems more earned, and his renditions of “Friend like me”  and “Prince Ali” are solid. I would even say that I enjoyed the spectacle in the live action more then the animated version. BUT I am a bit miffed about changing ‘Sunday salaam” to “Friday Salaam” It just doesn't hit the ear right. And it bother’s me far more then it should. I get why they did it tho.

-Aladdin tricking the genie was not as clever as the original. but I will look past it.

-Aladdin being awkward as Prince Ali makes so much sense, the other Aladdin was too good at being Ali. I liked the awkward scene. aka the Jams scene.

-The party was cool and I enjoyed the dance sequence.

-Genie digging the handmaid was a bit weird to me, but after thinking about it, they can both kind of relate to each other, though it is still a bit weird.

-I like how they handled Jafar’s hypnosis.

-A “whole new world” while not as grandiose in locations as the animated one was still fun, and honestly a bit more realistic.

-Aladdin starting to become like Genie said he would was also kind of heartbreaking because you can see Genie hurting by this even though he knew this was possible.

-Jafar snatching the lamp right off of Aladdin was foreshadowed earlier and a cool thing.

-Jasmine showing how capable of a ruler she is even when Jafar wished to be sultan was epic.

-Also, I didn't mention it, but I like the sultan WORLDS more then in the original. But I still miss that scene in the animated movie where Jafar was hypnotizing the sultan to have Jasmine marry him and the sultan snaps out of it to say. “But your so old”

-Jafar’s outfits were boss as hell. (actually liked all of the costumes in this) But Jafar’s was the best.

-I miss the reprise of Prince Ali. I wanted Jafar to have a villain song. WHY NO VILLAIN SONG!? THIS WAS THE CHANCE!

-Jafar just being a vindictive ass is great.

-I like the confrontation with Jafar in the original a bit more because it involved more magic, But I think the live action really capitalized on Aladdin getting Jafar’s weak point about being the most powerful in the room.

-I like that Jasmine was made the Sultan. That was good.

-Genie got freed and that scene got me a bit emotional. Damn.

-The ending was cute, and there was a callback to the ship scene, which even though I was iffy on Genie and handmaiden, it was cute.

Overall I give the movie a solid.

It did enough for me to actually enjoy the movie and made it different enough that I didn't know every turn they would take. I think this movie deserves more credit then it gets.

I am thinking about Highway to Hell yet again, yet another imperfectly beautiful horror movie I love to death, bad special effects and all.

A foolish trifle in so many ways, such absurdities as a Hell Cop, or Hitler in a casino played by Gilbert Godfrey, or a truly awful claymation Cerberus. Yet it has a magic about it which only comes when caution is blown to the wind, and the filmmakers fling themselves fully into the image.

How to express the strange iconography of this movie, nigh archetypal young lover protagonists, ripped apart by the forces of hell. Somehow it's perfectly reasonable that the old man in the lone gas station arms the errant knight pizza boy with a white 1940s hotrod and a shotgun with magical demon slaying shells.

It should not work, and yet his encounters with sword toting bikers, a satanic mechanic, and what might very well be the as yet sinless antichrist? Perhaps, and all this because his love is true and his heart is pure. And people wonder what romance is to me? To meet the woman who is no prize to be taken but free to make her own choices. More, to be an active and essential agent in their escape from hell together.

And to reach a dramatic peak of a literal race with the devil. I wish I could share how this movie sings in my heart of all the great romantic feelings, of the union of modernity and myth, love and sweetness and silliness and sheer radical joy off acceleration.

💖 Favorite movie?: honestly it's hard for me. But i love all the classics. But hunchback of Notre dame,beauty and the beast,sleeping beauty,snow white,mulan,and i know it's unpopular opinion but i loved pocahontas for two reasons. One i had zero to nothing for representation growing up knowing and having native background (now i might have better rep but again this was younger me) and two i just liked it face value. And that's ok. I know the real history,and i can like AND give valid criticism for a piece of media. Oh and i love treasure planet,and princess and the frog. Underrated af movies.

📣 Which remake is the best?: honestly not many remakes and sequels of disney work. Some are ok but poorly executed.

And honestly we can learn a thing or teo from mulan. But if i could. I'd love to make a proper and honest to god movie about samurai. But tastefully done. Tome gozen movie anyone? Or a simple movie about friendship. And the importance of it. And platonic relationships being just as important as Romantic ones.

I just made a note to read what you suggested to me lol but it didnt have teen wolf in it, it was where reader is human and trying to help them catch the enemies, and the people shes trying to help catch her, and the guy like pins her down and is like "how do i know its not you thats betraying me" and she says "i just wanted to help" or along those lines, i think the people were vampires?
