YOUNG LOVE
pairings — toritsuka reita x reader
request — hiii!! i was wondering if u could do some toritsuka reita x f reader headcanons where the reader is also a medium? TYSM 🙏 - @lawlietkitty
tags — fluff, mentions of dead people (ghosts), toristuka is socially awkward lmfao, saiki is sick of his bs, so is aiura, reader finds it cute, toritsuka has a crush on you, he's down BAD, quick cameo from the PK psykicks (i love them), toritsuka 'the freak' reita's redemption arc basically
cerisa speaks — i got u my good sis, i barely see anything for toritsuka so i am happy to be one of the few who write for him. references to episodes might not be accurate it’s been a year since i’ve last watched
・ naturally, as a new transfer student, you are the talk of the school for a few days.
・ you’re set up in class three, and you quickly make friends with a girl sat next to you - aiura mikoto.
・ class goes smoothly, not many ghosts linger whilst lessons are ongoing, so none of the deceased are able to distract you.
・ break doesn’t go as peacefully as your first few lessons. people from other classes come into yours to introduce themselves to you. aiura manages to shoo them away and introduce you to her friends.
・ you only get to exchange greetings with yumehara and smile as aiura says saiki’s name before toritsuka works his way into the conversation.
・ he is practically bouncing off the walls and salivating at the prospect of a new female student. aiura was fine, but she was infatuated with saiki.
・ plus she was super mean to him.
・ so he formulated a foolproof plan. he allows a ghost to possess his body in order to smooth talk you.
・ unfortunately for him you can sense that there’s two souls possessing one body. but your eyes do light up, this guy must be a spirit medium too!
・ you actually don’t have to do anything to the spirit inhabiting his body because saiki started sending threatening messages directly to toritsuka’s brain in order for the spirit to leave.
・ you ask toritsuka if he’s a medium and he’s SOOO FUCKING SMUG because he assumes that someone told you about him.
・ “heh, my reputation precedes me. want me to tell you who your guardian spirit is?”
・ you unintentionally humble him (to the delight of saiki) real quick by telling him you’re a medium too. guy literally turns three shades redder and is like oh! ok, that’s fine - cool! that’s great. YOU’RE great - I MEAN THAT YOU’RE A MEDIUM TOO. that’s great. haha… (awkward laughter)
・ he’s embarrassed to talk to you after that. he’s kicking himself for blowing another chance with a pretty girl 😭
・ anyways, you decide to branch out a little and find people with similar interest to you, so, you join the occult club!
・ obviously toritsuka created the club so he could get girls but when you walk he’s locked in. god has given him a second chance and man is not gonna waste it.
・ he begs saiki to help him get closer to you (“not indecently this time, saiki! please help me! just one chance - i’ll do anything PLEASE 🙏 ”)
・ what a pain.
・ so all the members of the club end up going on a night trip trekking through the woods, and you split up into teams of two.
・ kaidou is with yumehara, saiki is with makino, and toritsuka paired himself with you.
・ it’s dark and the forest is filled with creatures of the night - and a few ghosts. you two actually get into a pretty deep chat about your abilities. when they manifested, what you can do, etc.
・ you learn that he can force his soul into another body and take over - which you can’t do. in turn, you have the ability to exorcise ghosts and send them to where they wish to be.
・ it’s pretty healing to talk to someone who more or less shares the same experiences as you. you guys get so familiar that he accidentally slips up and tells you about saiki’s powers.
・ then there’s a voice in your head: you will not tell anyone that i am a psychic. if you slip up like that inept creep you’ll regret it.
・ you affirm that you won’t tell anyone about him - and then bug him to not read your mind because that’s creepy - then turn back to toritsuka who looks paler than a ghost. and you would know because there’s one behind him. saiki definitely scared the shit out of him with whatever he said.
・ that night ends with toritsuka complaining about saiki (which you're pretty sure he can still... hear? you don't say or think anything bad about him just in case) and getting scared shitless by an owl that flew directly into his face.
・ thanks to toritsuka’s idiocy - you get integrated into the PK psykicks! a group only three (now four) people know about!
・ aiura is ecstatic, saiki is indifferent, and toritsuka is pretty much smitten.
・ toritsuka freaky as hell as we all know, but that’s just because he’s… freaky as hell.
・ but… he hasn’t ever had a crush before??? girls he thought were hot? sure. crushes? not since you came and messed up how his brain is wired.
・ everyone, and i mean EVERYONE soon notices how much toritsuka has mellowed out - no more accosting and fraternising with random female students. it’s like he’s only looking at you.
・ even saiki is like damn, maybe he isn’t actually all that bad.
・ he’s really trying to make this work. he doesn’t want to do anything to make you want to leave.
・ he does eventually work up the courage to ask you on an official date at a notorious couples spot. you agree to meet up with him there.
・ you know that hidden fist pump people do when they’re super happy something has worked out? as soon as your back has turned to leave that’s what he does.
・ “i saw that.” — “n-no you didn’t!”
・ first date goes swimmingly. toritsuka is visibly nervous but cools considerably once you carry the conversation.
・ a few regular ghosts you guys see around a lot actually come up and speak with you two, to tease, congratulate, and remiss on their own memories with their partners.
・ one ghost couple who you tend to see floating about outside the temple toritsuka lives at comes and speak with you both also. the elder man jests at his grandson finally going on a proper date with a lady and ruffles his hair. (well, tries to ruffle his hair - his hand phases through toritsuka’s skull)
・ the night ends off on a high note, with reita (as he now insists you call him) walks you home.

Many influences come together to make my Nicolas Nicolas.
“It was said that he once defeated an entire regiment of calvary with a bent steak knife-while he was eating.” - William Joyce
“He’s a wild man,” Ramsey says. “An adventurer, a warrior, a dynamic force. A big guy who takes over every room. He has two gigantic swords. He kicks down doors. The core idea was, what would a guy who can fly around the world in one night be like? He had to do this with sheer force of will. So we wrapped that dynamo around a guy who loves making toys, whose whole existence is bringing generosity to the world.”
INFLUENCES: Slavic myth, Norse myth, Christian myth, Violent Night, William Joyce’s The Guardians of Childhood and The Man in the Moon, Rise of the Guardians (2012), historical connections to Santa Claus, this amazing webpage outlining information about Veles, & the Rankin/Bass Claymation films.
My Nicolas is very inspired by Nicholas St. North, but the idea of him also being the Slavic god Veles was so interesting to me: I wondered what would come of the muse if I combined them?
NAME: Veles, Nicolas.
ALIAS: Nicholas St. North, Santa Claus, Saint Nicholas, St. Nick, Kris Kringle, Odin, Wodan, Welnos, Volos, Saint Blaise, The Devil, St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, Sinterklaas, Krampus, Father Christmas, any & every name for Santa Claus.
TITLES: The Guardian of Wonder, the Spirit of Generosity, The Greatest Thief & Bandit Who Ever Lived, The Cossack, Toymaker.
AGE: Indetermined. Very old. Jokes that he’s seen the beginning of time.
GOD OF: fertility, boundaries, order, mischief, magic, invention, cattle, water, earth, the underworld, the dead, music, wealth, trickery, forests, oath-keeping & treaties, retribution, farming, vengeance, psychic ability, the hunt, power, & poetry.
SPIRIT OF: generosity, nature, & invention.
GUARDIAN OF: wonder.
WEAPON: two swords & a spear.
SACRED ANIMALS: bear, wolf, snake, dragon, owl, any farm animals & black birds.
ASSISTANTS: yeti, Leshy, reindeer, & elves.
DOMAIN: Nav/Nawia (The North Pole). In Winter, Nav/Nawia changes from a forest and farmlands to the North Pole, and returns back to its forest-y appearance when Spring arrives.
ABILITIES: shapeshifting (into a dragon or bear or other animal under his domain), using snowglobes to transport himself + others, master swordsmanship, the power of wonder, master craftsman, master inventor, master magician, master toymaker, the gift of the silvertongue (can communicate with all beings + can articulate clearly),
STRONGEST ABILITY: The Power of Wonder. North has an ability to find the wonder in everything around him which helps him in his creation of toys and inventions. It also boosts his faith in others and resolve, and helps him be jolly and a little childish but gives him a unique insight. His shapeshifting ability is an extension of his Power of Wonder.
APPEARANCE FC: David Harbour in Violent Night (during Winter).
Eric Balfour from Haven (all other seasons).
VOICE FC: Adam Baldwin in Rise of the Guardians.
EYE COLOR: blue, crystal blue.
HAIR COLOR: always has black eyebrows.
white + long, curly hair and beard (during Winter).
dark + short cropped (all other seasons).
red (as Kris Kringle).
CLOTHING: Black fur hat, a long red coat with black trim, black boots, black sheepskin pants, and thick, black gloves (in Winter).
Hawaiian shirt + jeans with tennis shoes and white socks (all other seasons.)
HEIGHT: 6'6".
WEIGHT: 270 lbs.
BODY SHAPE: Big boy. It’s cuffin’ season. Chunky but also muscular.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: When appearing as Nicolas, he has tattoos on either arm featuring Naughty + Nice, all sorts of Celtic + Slavic symbols on his torso, arms, and back. Right on the center of his chest + ribs is his Veles snake. Blue eyes, no matter the form.
If he reveals his true form, as Veles, he will have golden antlers protruding from his long, brown, & curly hair.
NATIONALITY: N/A. Appears Slavic, as that is one of his favorite places, Nicolas has an indistinct Slavic accent that can sound very Russian at times.
GENDER: Masculine. Uses he/him.
SEXUALITY + ROMANTIC IDENTITY: Bisexual and demiromantic.
MORALITY: Chaotic Good.
PERSONALITY: Nicolas is a warrior with a heart of gold. Fierce, demanding and impulsive, everything about him is larger than life. For him, nothing is impossible as long as he believes in it. He is inventive and witty, sarcastic and curious, and immensely willful. He will do whatever he can to save others. He is also fearless, mysterious, caring, and full of wonder.
BIOGRAPHY: Veles had been alive for what feels like all of Time, guarding the border between Yav (the mortal world) and Nav (the underworld). When his worship + power started to wane due to Christianity’s influence across all of the world, and his reputation was tarnished as the Devil, the Man in the Moon offered Veles a new job: become the Guardian of Wonder.
He took the name Nicolas, and decided to embody an aspect of himself that he enjoyed a great deal: Santa Claus.
Nav became the North Pole, its fertile fields turning to snow-encapsulated tundra when Winter struck. No mortal can dare enter the North Pole, not without special permission.
Souls who pass under the Slavic banner end up residing in Nav for all of eternity, and when Nav turns into the North Pole, those who live within Nav can volunteer to help with Santa’s duties, or opt to just enjoy the wintery aspect of the realm. Those who are favored by Nicolas can become Santa’s Helpers, and he sends them all throughout the mortal world to act in his stead.
Leshys patrol the space, so no souls leave without permission. Elves assist in toymaking. The Yeti assist in overseeing all functions within Nav, and act as managers, while also covering all other duties that the others fail at.
Every December 24th, he delivers gifts to good children and leaves coal for naughty children. He has also been known to still deliver to adults.
Using his Globe of Belief, Nicolas makes sure that the children of the world believe in the Guardians. Whenever crises arrive, Nicolas is there, blades at the ready, spear strapped to his back, and is ready to kick a w ho-ho-ho le lot of ass.

Katrina Valerius
Basic::
Katrina is a half elven witch and the daughter of a Lythari Lore-Master. Her mother was the last scion of the Valerius line. Well, of the direct lineage. The Valerius line has been bonded to dragons for centuries as well as being gypsy nobility of a sort. She like her fore-mothers is a vampire hunter. Her mother died in labor leaving her to her father to raise. She was raised within an elven village deep in an old magical forest. The Lythari are a race of shifters, true lycanthropes of a sort. Each can take a single animal form. Unlike werewolves they only have the true animal form and not a mixed form. Katrina has two forms because of the magic that runs in her. Cat and wolf...
Lineage Possibilities::
There are two stories of the origins of the Valerius line. One is that they are descended from one of the Horned Lords and the other is that Freya took a mortal for a lover and they are thus descended from her blood and charged with protecting the balance. Traditionally in this universe Freya is the Patron of Hunters and a goddess of nature and beauty as well. She is unbound by any male and thus considered a Virgin Goddess in this particular universe. In her softer Aspect, she is a Peace Goddess and promotes the various races playing nice together. Katrina is a vampire after a certain point although she remains a hunter as well. I can play her either after she's been turned or before. There are three lifetimes on one particular world that involve Katrina. Once she was the child of Kaeldron Moonflower (Lythari) and Serephenia Valerius (Human), another as the child of Sonya (vampire) and Lucian (Lycan), and a final one as the daughter of Dracula and his third bride who was a Valerius witch. My inspiration for this character comes from all sorts of places. It's a weird mixing of worlds and realities. I can set her up though in a new way if needed. As to age, that's variable of course. I can try her at any age though she'll probably remain somewhat youthful no matter what. Her sire from her first lifetime was Mathias Cronqvist who is the son of Dracula. Dracula is the child of Lucifer and a mortal woman. Lucifer being the consort of Lilith who is Mother and Queen of the vampires makes the children of his line nobility among the vampires. As Dracula's daughter, she is a dhamphir and a witch as her mother is. She is his firstborn child by his Valerius bride.
Allergies/Weaknesses::
Katrina is allergic to garlic and has been since she was little. She's also strongly allergic to silver. After she becomes a vampire, she develops the sunlight issue and the problem with holy relics and water and the like from Lawful Good pantheons. Although all good aligned things will deal some damage. As a vampire, Katrina only feeds from her sire or other powerful people who give her permission. After all, there is a rule about asking first at least among the vampires she belongs to. Not all clans ask before taking but hers does. Yes, a charmed person who gives permission still counts. Her Dhamphir version as Dracula's child is allergic to pork and iron along with direct sunlight. The iron allergy is due to being Fey Kissed. (See Book of Erotic Fantasy for a basic idea of what a Fey Kissed is)
Powers::
Katrina is one of my less magically gifted characters. She tends toward fire magic, hearth magic, and charm magic. Although I suppose she could theoretically pull of more impressive spells and the like if she had the ingredients for a complex spell. Katrina is a Vessel capable of channeling Gods although she primarily only is possessed by Lilith and occasionally Hecate. She is blessed and under the protection of Freya, Hecate, and Lilith.
Science Fiction Realities
Katrina is a Hunter which is the police force for those who feed on others. She comes from a traditional hunting family although she is a half Daemon. She is allergic to pork and iron. She is a gifted Psi and an empath. She has a decreased ability to block psychic invasions although she has an increased range of sensing and is very powerful as a witch and psi.

In the year 2124, the Earth was vastly different from the world we once knew. Forests had taken back their ancient rights, sprawling over the ruins of what used to be concrete jungles. Nature, resilient and mighty, had re-emerged, and with it, new forms of life evolved—beings both of Earth and of the stars.
One such being was Alder, a product of genetic marvels, with an appearance that could only be described as otherworldly handsome, the quintessence of ancient Greek statues mixed with the vigor of nature's untamed spirit. He was what humanity had once dreamed of becoming: the perfect symbiosis of human intelligence and the strength and adaptability of Earth's most resilient creatures.
Alder roamed these wild new lands, a guardian of the equilibrium between technology and nature. His body was a temple of engineered perfection, muscles defined as if sculpted by the gods themselves, covered with a fine layer of hair as a testament to his oneness with the natural world.
He wore a jacket, not for warmth, but as a symbol of his past—a past where humankind soared the skies and reached for the stars. The jacket bore an emblem, a relic of the United Earth Space Corps, a force that once protected humanity's interstellar ambitions. But those days were gone, and now the jacket served as a reminder of his duty to preserve the peace on this reborn Earth.
On this particular day, with the sun high in the sky, Alder stood upon a rocky outcrop, overlooking a valley that had once been a bustling metropolis. His sharp eyes, glistening with an almost unnatural hue, scanned the horizon. He was searching for the Vagrant—a rogue android that had been reported to meddle with the delicate balance Alder was sworn to protect.
As Alder prepared to track down the Vagrant, he received a psychic ping through his neural link—a communication method developed from the remnants of old-world tech and the psychic abilities that had flourished in this new age. It was a message from the Council of Symbionts, beings like him, tasked with safeguarding the balance. The Vagrant was close, and it was his duty to intervene before any harm could come to the equilibrium.
With a grace that belied his robust frame, Alder descended the outcrop and headed into the green abyss, his senses tuned to the faintest whisper of technology amidst the chorus of life. His mission was clear: find the Vagrant and ensure the harmony of this world remained undisturbed.
The pursuit would take him through the wild heart of the new Earth, where the ruins of the old world whispered secrets, and where the future of humanity's legacy would be decided. It was a world of beauty and danger, a world where every step forward was a dance with destiny.
And so, Alder ventured forth, a solitary figure against the vastness of nature, a sentinel of the past's memories and the future's promise.

This would be easy if my files were given actual names and not "bdsfsfv1... ghghgh12..." I'm wholly uncreative with name unfortunately.
But a few of the ideas rattling around in my hard drive are:
1920's Young Female Psychic Dhampyre Ameteur Detective bombarded by both Lovecraftian and manmade horrors (the interim period between the World Wars is a fun, fun time)
Space-faring reincarnated dragon gods fighting the forces of evil (and trying to settle a lifetimes old petty feud in their downtime)
Terminally curious ghoul exploring their forest home alongside old and new friends (and awakening a vengeful old witch in the process)
Socially anxious trans girl makes a deal with a demon after moving back to her hometown to find nothing is the same as how she left it (learns the nature of being human is to be transient, and to not change is to not live at all)
Monster High but they're at college, also lots more murder and, again, Lovecraftian horrors
Dragging @catboymoments, @electro-sweaters, and @fruitviking here as well

Rules: In a new post, post the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. let people send you an ask with the title that most intrigues them and then post a little snippet of it or tell them something about it

How I’d Rewrite Mutant Apocalypse
For starters, I’d make it more clear it’s an alternate future, possibly through time travel shenanigans.
I’d also change the aesthetic since I personally don’t like desert apocalypses. I’d go more towards the last of us where society isn’t completely destroyed, but it’s severely damaged and normal people do have to deal with monsters almost daily.
I’d also change the inciting incident to a mutagenic virus rather than an M bomb so it’s leans more towards a cycle of a new species becoming dominant rather than the earth being altered so severely, the living creatures on it would probably die out and leave the planet devoid of life.
I’d keep raph as the protagonist, but have him live in the woods, possibly the farmhouse, away from areas with people that would have more issues. I’d also maybe have him suffer side effects from the virus. I’d also have Leo confirmed dead via him saving raph, giving raph some issues
I’d make the main young girl shadow, a 13 year old in this story. Basically, I’d have raph meet up with a pregnant Karai, but Karai dies in childbirth so raph takes shadow in as his own without knowing who her father is. But as shadow gets older, he gets a feeling he knows who the dad is.
Their relationship would probably be a mix of Joel and Ellie’s from the last of us and kratos and Atreus in god of war. I’d have shadow be a human who’s immune to the virus.
The inciting incident would be the utrom, under orders from their “queen” go after shadow when their queen senses the girls presence and wants her dead so humanity can fully die out.
This would force raph and shadow out of the forest and raph would have to take shadow to New York, hoping to find a community that’ll keep them protected.
They end up going to the lair, which hasn’t been to in years. During their scrounging, shadow finds a robot that’s built to look like Donnie and turns it on against raphs orders.
The robot acts a LOT like Donnie and thinks of himself as Donnie. Shadow and raph take him as a companion, raph thinking it actually IS Donnie, but as they interact with him, raph starts to question if it actually is.
They end up finding a community in New York of infected humans and still sane mutants, led by their leader they call “the light”
The light wants to meet raph, shadow and “Donnie” personally upon hearing about them. The light turns out to be Mikey, who’s also afflicted with the virus.
Mikey ends up confirming that Donnie died, Mikey had tried to help Donnie years ago when don got sick, but couldn’t save him from succumbing to his sickness, so he’s not too happy with robo don thinking he’s actually Donnie.
Meanwhile, the utrom who failed psychically relay what they found to their queen, giving her raph and shadows psychic imprint.
Plot twist. The queen is april. The trauma of losing everyone she loved + the mutagenic virus fully unlocked her kraang dna, turning her into the next prime, but unlike the first prime, she had control over ALL utrom.
She figured since everyone she loved was gone, she’d let the human species die out and then have and then have the utrom take over to keep the new mutant species safe from the problems humanity’s nature caused. When she sensed a human who was immune to the virus, she figured preserving this random person’s life wasn’t worth jeopardizing her plan.
Upon getting shadows psychic imprint, she realizes this random person is not only Karais daughter, but Casey’s.
Now. Casey isn’t dead. He was infected with the virus and after years of fighting it, it eventually turned him into a feral mutant. April found him and attempted to restore his mind, but to no avail.
She eventually starts to believe Casey straight up isn’t there anymore and slowly sees him more like a guard dog.
So upon finding out who shadow is, she sees shadow as her last connection to someone she cared about deeply and personally goes to capture her and take her in as an apprentice.
The community Mikey’s in charge of gets wrecked by april and her utrom and robo don sacrifices himself to save Mikey (robo don had an identity crisis that Mikey wasn’t helping with and this is how it ends)
Shadow does get captured and raph goes to save her, Mikey having to stay behind to help his community.
Meanwhile, april reveals to shadow that shadow isn’t ACTUALLY human. Karai was a mutant and Casey was in the late stages of the virus when she was conceived, making shadow a human passing mutant.
Shadow obviously wants away from april, so april thinks showing her her bio dad to show why april cares about shadow and how shadows safe with her.
Yeah. Shadows horrified to see the bio dad she wanted to know her whole life as a mindless beast.
Raph manages to get pretty far, so april, who’s really REALLY losing it at this point as her prime mind overpowers her april mind, ends up sending Casey after him to fight, forcing shadow to watch her biological father kill the man who raised her.
Raph is forced to put Casey down through a sai to the head… in front of Casey’s daughter. Fun!
April ends up fully losing it and mind blasts raph, severely injuring him. Shadow flips and her mutant dna comes out for the first time.
Shadow ends up killing april. As Aprils dying, her real self thanks shadow before passing.
Shadow gets her and raph out of there and back to the community. Unfortunately, Raphs injuries were fatal and he dies.
Mikey takes shadow in, now being the last living member of the hamato clan.
Maybe I’d have another arc after where renet takes this shadow to the past in order to help the present main 6 fix the future, maybe I wouldn’t. Who knows. I just didn’t like the mutant apocalypse we got in almost any aspect.

Element: Psychic & Forest
Okay so a lot of this is gonna be stuff I'm pulling from posts I've already written to make it easier on myself and so I don't have to repeat anything.
Before he was born, the Novune Forces approached Hiro's parents because they knew that he would be born as a dual elemental. Part of their goal was to raise several dual type children to become human weapons--they targeted dual type babies specifically because they're said to be more powerful since they can use more than one elemental type.
It was the perfect opportunity for Hiro's parents because at the time they were not ready for a child despite agreeing that they were going to have it. Ofc the Forces did not reveal their plans so to them it turned into a nice surrogate parent situation where Hiro's mother would give birth to him and he'd immediately be given up for adoption afterwards. It was definitely hard for them to part with him but they trusted he'd be in good care. Well. That turned out great, as you can probably tell :')
Hiro, along with Kaz and Mallary, became the Forces' iconic trio, with Hiro considered to be the golden child and the most dangerous between the three of them because of his high intellect and skill in combat. He grew up under a very strict regimen and would spend hours each day dedicated to training both his mind and his elemental powers. He's an extremely gifted psychic elemental and took to his abilities almost immediately--he’s able to read his opponents movements and set up traps before they can even get to him. He’s usually airborne for most battles he’s in; he finds it easier to strategize from a higher vantage point, and he also just likes to float around and dodge enemy attacks and act like an ass lmao. He’s a pro at immobilizing his enemies so they can no longer move, ending his battles swiftly and cleanly. Physically he’s not very powerful so he uses a magic staff to fight. His intelligence more than makes up for his lack of super strength!
He has a special power like Kaz’s extra dragon typing (and, like Kaz, he has a streak in his hair from the experimentation)—Hiro gets visions of death, basically predictions of the future, and his visions are never wrong. He’s able to see who dies in battle and the Forces use this to their advantage so that they can prepare around any casualties. Hiro hates getting these visions because he doesn’t like seeing people die, he witnesses their last moments and it’s certainly traumatizing for him;; and like Kaz, this power was something he only unlocked through lots of experimentation on him, so he usually passes out for hours after getting a vision since it’s not a “natural” ability he was born with.
As for his second typing, it was something he never really clicked with. Forest elementals have to be very attuned to nature and are generally more kindhearted and gentle people, but since Hiro grew up in a base with only limited access to the outside (and because he’s forced into acting as an antagonist), his forest elemental powers were repressed over the years. He’s already powerful enough as a psychic elemental so he doesn’t feel the need to resort to a second power, especially since his superiors viewed his second typing as useless and he never received proper training on how to use it. He's already a huge threat as he is so they said good enough. The Forces believe that if something is useless, throw it away, so they eventually abandoned any hope of him succeeding in bettering his forest powers, and focused solely on enhancing his psychic abilities and making his death visions clearer.
Before Hiro became the cold-hearted and snarky colonel that the Forces know him as, he was actually a very kind child with an aversion to violence, and cried often. That got forced out of him pretty quickly though--he learned right away that disobedience means punishment and the only way to pay for his mistakes is by verbal and physical abuse. Poor baby :'( He and Kaz and Mallary go through a LOT of unfair shit as kids. The event that really drove home his intense determination and flawless record was the first mission he was ever sent out on.
This happened when he was around 13. Usually members of the Forces don't get to go out on solo missions unless they have a high position or are old enough to, but he was the exception because of his talent and because it was an experiment to see if he could handle it. His mission was to infiltrate a small, family run guild and basically gather intel and find out what their agenda was, as there were rumors they knew of some of the Forces’ plans. Upon Hiro’s arrival to the town where the guild was situated, he ends up rescuing the Guildmaster’s daughter, Lorelai, who is around his age. Unknowingly, he triggered his forest elemental powers, which caused them to land in a field of flowers he’d bloomed. Because of this, Lorelai starts to call him Flower, since he couldn’t come up with a codename in time and he doesn’t have a real name anyway lol
A couple weeks pass and Hiro spends more and more time with the guild, growing closer to Lorelai and being lulled into a false sense of security. He becomes extremely jealous of how the guild lives, and is very emotional at how much of a family they are, and how sweetly they treat him. Hiro starts to ponder over whether or not he should be sneaking around behind their back, when one day the guild is attacked while he’s out. When he returns, the village is set ablaze, and when Hiro demands what’s going on, his superior informs him that he was merely a decoy to get their defenses down, since apparently the Forces had definitive proof that they knew of their plans. His superior orders Hiro to search the village and kill anybody who was left.
Hiro, panicked, searches for Lorelai, and finds her hiding in the forest nearby. He apologizes to her and has a mental breakdown, blaming himself for all of her misfortune. Lorelai realizes that he’s being kept in the Forces against his will and begs him to run away with her. Hiro knows that he’ll be hunted down if he does, and Lorelai could get hurt, so he tells her he has to stay with them. In the midst of this, they are confronted with the current colonel of the Forces, who encourages Hiro to kill Lorelai. Hiro refuses, and the colonel calls him out for insubordination. The colonel then decides to kill both of them in order to get a promotion. Hiro leaps to defend both Lorelai and himself, and in the scuffle, receives the scar on his head, and accidentally kills the colonel. Traumatized, bloodied, and terrified, Lorelai is the one to apologize to him as he cries his eyes out. Hiro numbly reassures her and tells her to run while she can. Lorelai admits that she loves him and bids him farewell, hoping that they can meet again, and that she’s sorry she can’t do more for him.
This is when Hiro decides to become the perfect agent—dangerous, cruel, and flawless, so that something like this never happens again, and so that he can have enough power to make the decisions rather than just following orders to mindlessly kill people. From then on out he does what he’s told without any complaints and has a record for never failing a single mission the Forces have given to him. Any enemy considers him to be absolutely ruthless because he does not hesitate in battles and will neutralize with no questions asked. He’s a cocky little bastard around enemies lmao he loves to snark them and tease them. He’s strictly against killing after what happened to the colonel, so instead, if it’s a high risk operation, he erases the memories of his targets to reduce the threat. Because he’s so uncomfortable with the thought of death in general he reasons that losing your memories is better than dying, and that makes it easier on the Forces as well since they’ll leave less of a trail rather than just killing people left and right.
Growing up, Hiro didn’t interact with Kaz very much, and they usually just saw each other in passing. However they both respect each other a great amount, and they sympathize with each other, being in the same sort of situation. Both the Hiro and Kaz hate their upbringing and hold a grudge against their superiors for their treatment and experimentation on them;; As for Mallary, Hiro became enamored with her because she reminds him a lot of Lorelai (who he later admits to being his first love). He finds her strength captivating and the way she doesn’t give a shit about other people’s opinions admirable. Hiro eventually falls prey to her manipulation and falls over himself to please her, which bothers Kaz because he knows Mallary’s just toying with him.
After the Forces’ plan to kidnap Ginni and use her as a hostage blows up in their face, Hiro finds out that Kaz had escaped with her, and commends him on the extremely smart decision to do so lol. He wonders if he should start considering leaving the Forces as well, seeing as he’s mature and responsible (and smart) enough to make it on his own. He’s ordered to retrieve Kaz which was a HUGE mistake on the Forces’ part because they didn’t realize Hiro’s loyalties lied more with people on the outside. Hiro meets up with Kaz and Kaz eventually convinces him to desert the Forces and work with him to stop their plans. Hiro agrees to work as a double agent for a while, leaking all of the Forces’ information to Kaz, Ginni, and the guild. In the midst of all this, Hiro meets Olivia, who pretty much calls dibs on him and she’s like “Listen Ginni got to give Kaz his name so can I give the colonel a name?? Please???” So she starts calling him Hiro! And finally baby boy smarts up and starts crushing on a girl that actually gives a damn about him and god dammit it’s the cutest fucking case of puppy love since Dusk/Nozomi. Hiro absolutely adores her, but he’s too nervous to actually do anything about it because he’s got huge abandonment issues (thanks again bad parenting! And Mallary!) and doesn’t want to ruin one of the only genuine friendships he’s ever had. But he is head over HEELS for Olivia and it’s so……softe.
Mallary finds out that Hiro’s acting as a spy, and retaliates. Hiro realizes just how awfully she’s treated him and defeats her, allowing him to escape and officially join up with the guild.
After that it’s a whole bunch of crazy action stuff as plans come together and they get to take down the Forces. Hiro falls harder and deeper for Olivia while she remains oblivious (at least, for a little while, until she finally starts noticing). He grows closer to Kaz and Ginni as well, and begins connecting with Kaz on a deep level because of their shared history. (They’re kind of like brothers, and Hiro considers him to be his best friend :’) )
Once the Forces are defeated, Hiro and Kaz both decide to go on a journey of self discovery in order to better themselves and learn more about the world they haven’t seen due to being locked up for so many years. Kaz and Ginni are already on the verge of forming a relationship, but with Olivia and Hiro it’s still tentative since she’s unsure and he still feels inadequate as a romantic partner. Olivia admits that she likes him and Hiro is so happy he’s ready to burst, but then he realizes it’s not the right time for them to be together so he gently rejects her. (Olivia takes this as an actual rejection tho not a “I’m not ready to be in a relationship with you yet tho I WANT to” and Ginni’s like YA’LL ARE SO DUMB I S2G).
Hiro and Kaz go their separate ways, and Hiro travels around for a while! He eventually settles in a lovely little village where he learns about his forest elemental powers and how to use them better. He’s finally able to connect with other people and essentially becomes way softer around the edges, revealing the true personality he had when he was a kid. A year or so passes and suddenly Kaz, Ginni and Olivia show up to reunite with him, and not long after that Hiro and Olivia FINALLY get together and start dating 😔👌 (Ginni: TOOK you look enough, god)
At some point the four of them go on a journey together and Hiro runs into his biological parents again…!! And he finds out he has a younger sister and they all reconnect and it’s SO EMOTIONAL
Other than that I think that’s all I have 🤔 Thanks for reading though this epic rollercoaster ride of a story plot lol!
Extra personality traits
-Hiro’s sarcasm and snarkiness is a defense mechanism to prevent anybody from seeing his vulnerable side, and also a way to trick the fear inside of him. Kaz is the one to point this out actually lol
-Despite that he does enjoy teasing people lightheartedly and being sassy, once he gets comfortable enough with them! There is a difference between his snarkiness towards enemies compared to that towards friends
-Is EXTREMELY loyal to the people he cares about. At first he tends to act prickly and kind of standoffish towards people he doesn’t know well. Over time he becomes more open to trusting others. Once you earn his trust and he deems you worthy of his friendship he instantly becomes softer and kinder haha, it’s like a switch
-Often dismisses people that he thinks aren’t worth his time or aren’t smart enough to hold an intelligent conversation with him
-Spends a lot of time reading and gathering knowledge. He is very book smart—but not very people smart :’D He and Kaz will spend hours in the guild’s library, since they’re both very thirsty for information outside of what they studied during their time in the Forces
-Touch starved as FUCK. He flips his shit every time somebody touches him in a friendly way, and will melt into a puddle if he gets hugged
-He can be very nosy and insensitive sometimes, prying into other people’s personal affairs if he thinks he can solve the issue
-Absolutely a tactics expert. He calculates all of his moves very carefully, and uses prediction tactics to leave no room for error. He enjoys coming up with mock battle situations to challenge himself.
-Very self-sacrificial;; he views the lives of those he cares about to be far more important than his own. He’ll lay his life on the line for his friends in an instant
-Is the person in the group who is the least fond of violence. If he can find a way around injuring someone, he’ll do it. He prefers to restrict his enemy’s movements or slow them down so they can’t fight back. He is VERY good at neutralizing opponents before they can even register it
-SUPER speedy. Due to his small size he’s very quick, most people don’t see him coming
-He’s really sensitive about his height fjmaksldmas he snaps at people who make fun of him for it
-Tends to levitate when he’s in deep thought. Olivia finds this very cute
-Blooms flowers when he’s happy/embarrassed
-He’s actually. A very talented dancer :0 During his year away from the guild he learned a lot of folk dances at the village he was living in, and when the others witness it they get really starstruck because it’s super mesmerizing!! He blooms flowers as he dances
-At his core he’s a very compassionate character!!
-After escaping from the Forces, he’s able to express his emotions more openly, and goes back to the way he was as a child. He’s a crybaby :’) He cries whenever someone he cares about gets hurt
-The only person in the group with the fucking brain cell, and the most rational one. Unless Olivia gets involved, then he gets stupid and flustered lmao
#This got SO long oh my god. I am so sorry. Except I'm not#My character bios keep getting longer and longer!! WHICH IS GOOD BC THEY ALL NEED GOOD DEVELOPMENT#OC#Original character#Character art#Character design#Character sheet#Character ref#Character reference#Art#Digital art#Long post#Shima arts#Shima's OCs#Among the Stars#ATS#Hiro#shima-draws

actually lemme explain them a bit better
1. keep staring and i'll never fall asleep: contemporary fantasy with worldbuilding based around dreams. in the aftermath of the death of an "oneiros" aka a physical manifestation of a dream orchestrated by a dreamer named isaac, which equaled to a natural disasters, we follow adam and piedad. reunited by force after a year and a half since the incident they begin a cat and mouse chase where adam is tasked to eliminate the threat of more oneiroi dying that piedad is trying to protect
2. haze dogs: horror low fantasy. a girl named connor is killed by her classmates and they are all shocked when three days later she comes back like nothing happened. this is great news, though, as their town is h(a)unted by strange otherworldly canines. so, as a solution they offer connor as live bait to keep more from dying. unsurprisingly, people soon start worshipping her
3. hideout: science fantasy... ish?? upper ya. a rewrite of my first serious attempt at a book that i used to post on quotev dot com. follows a group of kids with powers over the elements locked away in an artificial forest meant to keep them in a safe environment. everything is flipped on its head when a new wielder appears with the knowledge of a possible way out that stirs hostility among the original group.
4. the lupine trail: contemporary fantasy, but fantasy only because of the existence within the universe of a massive wolf species thar allows people to ride them like horses. noelle and seneca are drafted into the same racing team as they'd adopted puppies from the same litter years ago. problem is they haven't been friends since high school and asking them to work together is a recipe for disaster. but their team captain is looking for a second opportunity at the legendary lupine trail, a relay cross-country race he lost the year of his debut, and he is not letting anyone ruin this for him.
5. speak, prophecy: low fantasy, queer (aroace). renée is a lonely university student with psychic abilities, especially that of knowing when people will die. her dating life has been a disaster, she falls in love with people on the train all the time but as she gets to know them her desire for romance fades. her social life is a rotation of the people she knows will pass away soon until she meets darcy, a girl she hopes she'll actually have real romantic feelings for.
6. evergreen lung: low fantasy, queer (aroace). ezra is home after passing out in the local forest... except she was gone far longer than she realised. having missed high school graduation she grapples to reconnect with the people in her life as she starts to feel everyone took three steps forward while she was gone and she'll never catch up. especially now that two of her friends are dating and hanging out with them isn't the same. though it's not as bad as the feeling she never truly left the forest.
7. the forest with its teeth: multimedia project, found footage horror (written down). a group of five friends find themselves stranded in a forest with some disturbing folklore tied to it, as the cliché goes. slowly they unearth the true horror hidden underneath, that seems to go deeper than just the knowing stare of the animals and the figure they can sometimes see ambling in the distance.
8. home habitat: literary fiction. having independently run away from home for their own reasons, theo and maripaz meet while homeless on the streets and form an alliance of convenience to survive. and while theo vehemently denies the drug addiction he's nursing, maripaz tries to deal with the way both want and revulsion seem to exist in her at the same time. falling in love is probably the easiesy thing they do.
9. astral convergence: artemis and apollo, famous for their assassination of niobe's fourteen children, are hired by their stepmother hera kill their father—zeus, the king of the gods. narrated from the first person perspective of artemis with apollo as "you", the godlings find themselves in the middle of a power struggle between their father and his wife while dealing with the complicated feelings towards their own divinity.
badly described wips poll.
tagged by @duskforged , thank you!
okay we all know i have like 50+ wips so we're gonna leave it there
tagging: @onomatopiya @macyqwrites @coffeeandcalligraphy @harehearts @cream-and-tea @saltwaterbells ... and anyone else who'd like to do this! tried to pick people i know have various wips

Discord Highlights #4: Green Lands Far & New...
After the last instalment of highlights, a lot has happened, from negotiating with immortal Death Knights to winning big in a Feywild fighting pit, to now wanting to talk to the Queen of the Feywild herself, so let’s get into some explanations, shall we?
Shattered Souls: Bustin’ Heads & Winning Big!
After arriving in the Feywild a few sessions ago, the Party gathered and discovered that the famed Cultist of the Red Star that they had been hunting down was working in the Feywild Fighting Pits of the Starlight City, and after pulling off a few displays of daring dauntlessness, the Party challenged the Gladiator himself, going by the title of “The White Ram” due to his albino tiefling skin, to a Fighting Match on the Day of Mid-Summer, when Lady Shandria, Leader of the Starlight City and Niece to the Queen of the Feywild, could observe their fight.
Following some more preparations and a few bets made of the Party’s behalf, Ibernia, a Former Champion of the Fighting Pits and Monk of the Astral Self, stepped forward to duel The White Ram, but quickly fell to his blade...
That is until Blanche, the Sorcerer and Warlock of the Group, abused her knowledge of The White Ram’s True Name to rack his mind with psychic pain, allowing Ibernia to recover from her near lethal injuries (thanks to a Natural 20 on a Death Check) and rise up after nearly being bisected horizontally, now able to turn the pretty face of The White Ram into a bloody caved-in mess of broken bones.
Now, with their fight won and their spoils of war received (as well as a few tens of thousands of Gold Pieces in bets), the Party finds out that Blanche requires the body of The White Ram in order to complete a sinister deal she made with “An Old Swamp Witch”, who just happens to go by the name Baba Yaga.
What does Baba Yaga have in store for Blanche, how will the Party cross a Feywild Swamp the size of a small sea to find this ‘Old Witch’, and how will they leave the Feywild if they don’t even know how they entered?
Looks like the only way to find out is to listen to Shattered Souls Live in our D&D Discord Server…
Heaven & Hel: Making Friends & Crossing Planes...
When we last left our heroes, they were floating around in the Astral Sea looking for a Lost Library, carved from the skull of a long dead goddess.
Well, as it turns out, they found it!
And after completing their travels through the Astral Plane, and managing to find a Colour Pool back home, the Party quickly realised they needed some rest and relaxation, as their time away from the Material Plane quickly caught up with them as soon as they arrived back, causing the Party to gain a whole 5 Level of Exhaustion (let’s just thank them for not staying in the Astral Sea any longer...)
But after a short amount of Downtime and rest, the Party had finally awoken in their forest camp outside of the small forest town of Thanlo, feeling refreshed and rid of their Exhaustion.
And so, after recovering from their time away catching up with them, the Party now plans to investigate the local ruined Farmhouses and Mill to the north of Town, with the hopes of finding a Fey Crossing into the Feywild, so that Maltuul, the Elven Wizard of the Party who has been trying to convince the World that the Prophecy of Ragnarok (Known also as “The Old Apocalypse”) is real, may cross over into the Feywild and convince The Summer Court of his Homeland to aid him in his Quest to halt Ragnarok.
Will Maltuul and the Party be able to convince the many Archfey of The Summer Court to aid them in their time of need, or are these Demi-God like powers a-ok with the destruction of the Material Plane?
Looks like the only way to find out is to listen to Heaven & Hel as it happens, Live in our D&D Discord Server!
Debt & Darkness: Welcome to the Jungle...
After exploring the many rooms of the Demi-Plane Donjon of Tulkaz the Lich’s Astral Dreadnought, and dealing with its many traps and dangers therein, the Party discovered a Concealed Room within the Donjon, finding within a Grey Gateway into the Ethereal Plane.
With some hesitation, the Party entered and fought off a few denizens, before finding the forgotten mass of bones described in Tulkaz’s notes.
Following a few conversations with the denizens of the town’s twisting necropolis, the Group was directed to a Man known as "Lord Ran", an undying Death Knight who spoke to them of his life in Tulkaz's service, and how the Key to The Second Ward of Tulkaz was magically tethered to his Life Force, and his Body bound to the town itself.
However, after a flash of genius and some quickly planning, the Party was able to use Tulkaz's own magical Wards against him, as they brought the floating Grey Gateway of Tulkaz's Astral Dreadnought into the civilization known as Bonetown and convinced Lord Ran to step through, where upon his first steps into the Aura of Anti-Magic that surrounded The Second Ward, the necromantic energies that sustained him were stripped away, leaving only a corpse that crumpled to the floor, while also rendering Tulkaz’s Puzzle Box nothing more than a piece of mundane wood, which was then broken open to reveal a serrated Key.
This is honesty one of the proudest and funniest moments there’s been in the Campaign so far, as absolutely zero Party Members wanted to fight Lord Ran, a CR 19 Death Knight, and so had to “Get Creative!” to find a way of getting the Key from him without fighting him...
Using this Key, the Party was able to open The Metal Door that was The Second Ward of Tulkaz, where they found an empty space beyond, with a single pink jewel suspended in place.
Carina, being the bold scientist of the Group and willing to test her hypothesis, touched the pink gemstone and was scattered into a Pocket Dimension, as she was then shortly followed by Innocence, as they both found themselves falling into a deep blue ocean.
And so, after a brief stint of panic from falling into the ocean, Carina and Innocence swam to the shore of this otherworldly jungle, arriving on the beaches of an Otherworldly Isle in the middle of a vast blue expanse, where they now hope to navigate the new place they find themselves in, still on the hunt for Tulkaz’s Hidden Phylactery.

Upon request, here is a rec list of bottom Louis fics that are more plot-heavy in nature. We tried to choose fics that had a plot beyond Louis and Harry’s relationship. Happy reading!
1) Once Upon A Dream | Explicit | 33319 words | Sequel
Louis is psychic and gets caught in the middle of a murder investigation led by FBI Special Agent Harry Styles.
2) Boiling Blood Will Circulate | Explicit | 42420 words
The wait isn’t long before something starts rustling in the bushes. Harry takes aim, squeezes the trigger, body moving unconsciously. They’re motions he’s done a thousand times before, and his body knows how to do it without the input of his brain now. It’s what makes him such a good shot.
He misses. The shot misses.
Something howls in the woods, a pretty clear indication that Harry hit it, but there’s no telltale sounds of a big body dropping, no animal charging out at him to take him out before he can finish the job.
Something does turn and run, though. “Fuck,” Harry spits out, scrambling to his feet and slinging the rifle back over his shoulder, giving chase. He’s not going to lose this hunt.
The trail of blood goes on longer than Harry thought it would. He doesn’t know how long he runs for, but his muscles are burning, chest heaving with exertion, until the trail just - goes dead. No more blood, just like that.
“Fuck,” Harry says.
3) The Fairy Ring | Explicit | 46170 words
A medieval fantasy AU in which Harry is a prince in disguise and Louis is the king of the faeries.
4) Tied Down | Explicit | 48551 words
The most interesting case in Liam and Niall's careers falls directly into their laps, courtesy of an epic fuck-up of one Harry Styles, partner to the almost-infamous drug dealer Louis Tomlinson. The investigation yields an unexpected yet satisfactory outcome for Liam and Niall. For Harry and Louis, however, things are far more complicated.
5) Now That This Old World Is Ending | Explicit | 49184 words
Needing a good distraction from his broken heart, Louis Tomlinson goes on a camping trip with his friends to Northern England. However, a different kind of distraction arises when his friends disappear from their camp. Hellbent on finding them, Louis soon discovers that the area has been taken over by a cult and teams up with a resentful archer with fire in his eyes and blood on his hands.
Far Cry inspired AU.

He didn’t ask to get powers out of that accident, either, powers that eventually led him into a two-year relationship with a man who was far more than met the eye. But one night, he chose to ask for a replacement to a broken camera from someone he hadn’t spoken to in a year and a half. He did ask for that. And that kind of led to everything else.

Louis needs something groundbreaking- scandalous, even- to push past him in the charts. Much to Louis’ dismay, his PR team calls in The Sexpert.
Consulting with PR firm Shady, Lane and Associates pays the bills so that Harry Styles can spend his down time doing what he really loves: poring over data. On weekends and late into the evenings, he researches gender, presentation, and sexual orientation, analysing the longitudinal study that is his father’s life’s work. That is, until his newest client, the popstar with the fascinating secret, drags him off his couch and frighteningly close to the spotlight.
As the album’s release date approaches, will Tomlinson and Styles be able to pull off the most risky PR scheme of the millennium and beat Zayn in sales or will the heat of their feelings for each other compromise everything?

“Wait, what?” Zayn asked.
“Right place, right time,” Louis said. “Also, fuck my life,”
“What?” Zayn repeated. Niall patted his hand.
“I usually just roll with whatever Louis is about to do,” he said. “It’s better for us all.”

Guilt Edged Frame
“Dreams don’t mean anything, Hidan, they are just your tiny brain trying to process what you did the previous day.” Of course, he would dream that night. Hidans idiocy must really be contagious.
--Short exploration of what kind of Nightmares might be haunting Kakuzu--
~The Kakuzu Angst fic of your dreams~ , 1465 Words, Single Chapter, Angst / No Comfort
AO3 Link
“’Kuzu, I had a really weird dream, listen to this-“Hidans voice distracted Kakuzu briefly from wincing at the terrible quality of their complementary coffee that the Inn offered, though he only replied with a low grumble at the back of his throat.
“So, I was at the beach, and for some reason I started walking into the water, which, like, I don’t even fucking like swimming.”
“Mh.” He thought about anything else he could do instead of humouring his partners need for conversation.
“But get this: Instead of like, swimming, I just continued walking along the bottom of the ocean, as if there wasn’t even any water. And the deeper I went, the more I started seeing corpses tied to big rocks and concrete slabs.” Kakuzu idly tried to recall if he had ever seen that kind of disposal. It would certainly shut Hidan up for a while. But alas, he had neither rope, nor large rock, nor a deep enough body of water, and the shorter man continued. “It was super gross, some of them were like getting nibbled on by fishes, and they were all bloated. And when I tried to touch one of them, suddenly all of their eyes and necks snapped in my direction with a loud CRACK-“ As he banged on the table to emphasize, the few other patrons of the Inn turned with a startle.
The older one of the pair pushed his chair back, hissed a quick “We’re leaving.” before discarding his cup, headed for the exit. They had a good amount of distance to clear today, and he doubted that they could continue sitting there in peace now that Hidan drew increasing attention with his rambling. The morning sun greedily sunk into the exposed parts of Kakuzus face, and he allowed himself a brief moment to close his eyes and take the warmth in. Something about the sounds and smells of this village carried a familiar feeling with it. Children playing games that been passed on from generation to generation, giggling with ecstasy. A nearby shop selling local spices, a particular one that Kakuzu couldn’t quite place, sweet and yet with a spicy punch-
The moment of peace was over as a flat palm patted against his shoulder. “Are you falling asleep standing up, old man?”
“I was pondering if its worth a try to dispose of you via stone slab in a lake.” They fell into a comfortable walking pace next to each other, headed for the thickening forest to the south.
“You don’t think those could have been other jashinists, do you? Doomed to become the fish-equivalent of a saltlick.”
The pair passed a group of four young women huddled together on a bench, eyeing Hidan and whispering amongst each other. The younger man winked at them with his signature shit-eating grin, and the group broke out into a mixture of giggles and ‘No way~’s. Kakuzu rolled his eyes so hard that for a second he was sure they’d snap back into his skull entirely.
“When I was a kid, there were always some girls who claimed they could analyse your dreams. Same bitches who’d ask about your star sign and blood type before laughing and saying shit like ‘Oh I totally knew it, that’s such an Aries thing~’” Hidan flapped his hand around in crude mockery of any teenage girl ever. Kakuzu couldn’t repress a dark chuckle forcing itself through his vocal cords. Some things never change, including some peoples craving to have special psychic abilities. “Maybe I should have stopped to ask them what my dream last night meant.”
“Dreams don’t mean anything, Hidan, they are just your tiny brain trying to process what you did the previous day.”
“Don’t be such a pretentious cunt! I’m sure you dream of diving into a pool of money every night.” Particularly proud of that one, he flashed a self-satisfied grin at his partner.
And Kakuzu left it at that, willing to let Hidan uphold that childish belief if it meant he’d finally shut up.
He’d been alive for too long now to be occupied with something as meaningless as his brains idle thought processing. Most his nights were a dreamless unconsciousness that could occasionally be considered ‘resting’, and he preferred it this way. No distractions, no unnecessary ‘dream analysis’, just a cold dark embrace.
-------------------------------
Of course, he would dream that night. Hidans idiocy must really be contagious.
Kakuzu was back home in Takigakure, on a beautiful sunny morning. He could smell the fish market not far from where he stood, and the natural high moisture in the air felt refreshing. His skin was still intact, only minor scarring here and there, childhood memories that are meant to mark you, meant to remind you of an innocent time. There was no cracking of bones or resistance of hardened skin when he moved, careful steps through the alleys he grew up in.
Passing a window, Kakuzu glanced at his reflection. Youthful eyes, and dark brown hair that was starting to brush over his shoulders. His fingers run gently over his cheeks to the corners of his mouth, as if something were missing, but he couldn’t quite place what.
A group of children, 10 years old at the most, run past him with excited shouts and laughs. If he were to concentrate, maybe he could recall their names lingering at the tip of his tongue.
The young boy wants to follow them, as if he knew what got them excited, but he stumbles and falls and his hands burry themselves in the wet mud – The sun was just shining, why is there suddenly hard rain beating down on him? Fresh tattoos on his arm sting under contact with the rain, and he knows where he got them, suddenly remembers solitary and imprisonment and the older man who wielded the unsanitary make-shift tattoo equipment.
Lightning flashes and Kakuzu doesn’t need to look to know that blood and mud are mixing on his arms. His wet hair, now easily reaching the bottom of his shoulder blades in length, clings uncomfortably to his skin. He feels like he’s boiling alive, can feel sutures manifesting where they didn’t exist before, a phantom needle pricking along his arms and chest. It’s not mending broken skin, not trying to close festering wounds. It’s opening gateways for the bubbling heat under his skin.
Another lighting flash. His right fist is no longer buried in mud. Instead, it holds a steady grasp around a still beating heart, warm, intact, alive. He’s still at home in Takigakure but he knows it rejects him. The owner of the beating heart is a village elder who the man used to look up to, but now he’s looking down at the choking form, his last words for Kakuzus ears only, curses and banishment.
But the old man doesn’t die. His airways are flooded with his own blood, but he grabs Kakuzus neck with a strength he somehow knows he can’t overpower. He’s flipped into the mud, fist still clenched around the others beating heart, but it won’t yield. Despite the loud rain, and his own heart beating like a drum in his ears, he can hear the old mans voice crystal clear.
“Hashirama Senju should have killed you.”
His fingers grow numb.
“You could have died a hero’s death. You would have died for the village, fought till the end.”
The pressure on his windpipe increases, and his vision blurs.
“But you returned a failure. A disgusting nobody.”
His arms drop to his sides, cold and numb.
“Forever.”
-----------------------------
Kakuzu startled awake with a gasp. His hair stuck to his forehead with cold sweat as he sat up, hands ghosting over where he had just been choked. It took a couple of deep breaths before he had regained his orientation. Rundown Inn in a Village of maybe a hundred people if he was being generous, he is a member of the Akatsuki, he’s lying in the hardest bed he has ever slept in, and Hidan is on the couch-
Hidan was on the couch, staring directly at him, eyes blown wide as if he had just witnessed the coming of whatever that ridiculous god he believed in was.
Their eye contact was long, uncomfortable, and made Kakuzus twitching fingers increasingly long to tear the other man to shreds. His partner gave him a slow nod with a questionable look, which he returned wordlessly, before he laid back down, turned away.
He didn’t get another second of sleep that night, opting instead to bite the inside of his cheek raw and thinking about various ways to silence Hidan if he dared to speak a word about what he may have seen. Maybe investing in rope wasn’t such a foolish idea.

What would you do for the next Pokémon region? What theme would the pseudo legendaries and legendaries be?
In terms of the actual region, I prefer fantasy lands to actual places (I'd rather explore Hyrule than NYC, you feel?) which also permits more diversity in location so there can be stuff like a desert area and a snowy area without it feeling forced. I'd also want caves to come back a bit. Places like the Ice Path in Johto allowed so much more exploration than locations like the Galar Mine which is just one path with an optional offshoot.
Honestly, I want a Breath of the Wild type of game where there is a lot more exploration and letting us approach the story how we want. Gyms would be hard to force in a more open-world game but in the past two generations they've been changing how gyms work so I think it's totally feasible to still incorporate that with badges acting as milestones to unlock stronger pokemon and areas. I still think having the region somewhat split up is a good idea, so maybe having different areas going further into the region, with three gyms per area, and you just have to beat one of them to go on but you're encouraged to beat all three so you're pokemon will on-par with the levels of the next region. This allows for a chance of a gym for each type which would give us 6 different levels of area, similar to Alola's four islands (I don't think I would want them to be islands though because the story requires more forest area than oceans). I think this works well because the first could be a classic Grass/Fire/Water trio, then maybe Electric/Ground/Flying as classic types to teach resistances, then Bug/Ghost/Poison to have a generally spooky vibe, then kick off the second half with the classic Fighting/Psychic/Dark trio, then Ice/Ground/Normal (partially because it's what is left and partially because by now you have typing figured out so a strong normal gym is a challenge) and the final one could be the stronger types with Dragon/Fairy/Steel.
In terms of the storyline, I love what Hoenn did with having two teams with contrasting views and depending on the game you chose you got to see different points of view. I want to try that again but have more nuanced arguments rather than Team Aqua and Magma's opinion on the size of the ocean. I think I'd want my two teams to be focused on Nature vs Society, where one team wants to exhaust the natural world's resources for industry and science while the other wants to push civilization back to make room for the return of forests and wild pokemon. This has definitely been done before so it isn't a new concept, but I think that it's something where arguing for the extremes can lead to disastrous consequences in either side. I'm talking Community Center vs Joja Mart but like to the max.
Playing off of that, Princess Mononoke is one of my two favorite movies and while I would love the forest spirit there to be the Nature legendary, I don't want it to be too similar to Xerneas. Instead, I think looking at the boar gods there is a good choice as they can show the wild strength of nature that I want. So the Nature legendary would be a Grass/Ground giant boar. Let's call it Boarture, even though that's not at all what it's name would be because that sounds too much like torture and I specifically want to stay away from making either of them evil, just dangerous. Still, Boarture works for now.
The Society legendary is harder. I don't want to minimize society to industry because that's harder to justify against nature. I still want industry to play a part, as well as scientific advancement but also history and art as important cultural cornerstones. There are a couple different type combos I like for this one, but my favorite is Fire/Steel, which isn't a type combo we've seen before and also pairs up human civilization really well with the myth of the first fire and cooking and shelter and stories which are all decidedly human traits and the steel incorporating technology and science. I think it would take on a more humanoid appearance while still being wisp-y, a body composed purely of a white fire fueled by ambition and hands of liquid steel that it shapes at will to demonstrate its creativity, while still being dangerous to embrace in entirety. Lets call it Muse.
It might be a lot, but I think I also want a separate legendary trio to accompany them both. With Boarture I think you should have to make a case to three disciples before you get to confront Boarture itself. Each of them composes an aspect of the natural world. I like the idea of them being bugs because there aren't enough strong bug types. One of them is Flying/Bug and it helps herald in storms, another is Rock/Bug and it presides over the desert, and the third is Water/Bug and it protects the rivers and streams throughout the region. For Muse's, I like the idea of them all being Fairies because fairy tales are a human creation, and each of them having to do with humanity and society. One would be Ghost/Fairy and presides ovrr stories and history, another would be Electric/Fairy and would be immersed in technology (like a non-tricky Rotom), and the third would be Psychic/Fairy and would deal with identity and the concept of the Self. I don't like the idea of Pokemon being version exclusive, as somebody who didn't have friends to play with growing up, so I think 3 would be plot relevant, but after the game is complete you can potentially go through a second quest to fight the second box legendary and with it in the party you could find the other 3.
Idk what I would do for pseudo legendaries tbh. I've always wanted a Fire/Grass forest fire pokemon so that would be there. I also want a Poison/Steel radioactive pokemon that would fit well with the industrial aspect of the games. I love the idea of a Water/Dark kraken-style pokemon but I don't know if it would fit in well with my idea of the region. A Grass/Fighting moose pokemon covered in bark? A Poison/Fairy witch pokemon with a special move where it throws a potion with different effects based on the type of Pokemon it throws it at? An Ouroboros pokemon that starts as just a snake trying to bite its tail but turning into a fearsome dragon?
Overall, I think it's ambitious. Making it so that the story is different depending on the version while still following the core story isn't too hard, they've done it before. On top of that, making it so you can fight between 6-18 gyms and not necessarily in order will allow incredible individuality to the games, making it feel like everybody can play their own game with a different story than their friend. It would also allow great replayability as people fight different gyms or challenges like a Nuzlocke but you can only fight one gym per area. Or fighting one gym per area and then going back with a fresh team to fight the next 6 and then a third team to be the final 6.
And then having a nature-team is a great segue into another Pokemon Rangers game which they could have done so well on the switch, with moving the controllers in a circle to catch pokemon.
The problem though is that the Pokemon Company is currently emphasizing quantity over quality. I legit don't know if we'll ever see another epic main pokemon game because they are so focused on getting smaller games that they know we'll buy just because it has pokemon in it. They are prioritizing profits over telling a good story with a good game right now, which is disappointing, but I think it's possible we are in the stage where pokemon as we knew it would have died off by now and the only reason it's still going is because there is still money to be made. This is unfortunate, but I understand that we can't have the pokemon we grew up with our whole lives.
#asks#anon#sorry that this is so much to read#if i wasnt the one typing it i probably wouldn't look at all of this#but i love storytelling and worldbuilding and pokemon so this was a good ask

*pounds on table rhythmically* Give us Finn (please)! Give us Finn (please)! Preferably C, F, and U! C, F, and U (please)!
*pounds on table to the same rhythm* You may have Finn! You may have Finn! C, F, and U it is!
C = Cuddle (How do they cuddle?):
Finn is a real big cuddle bug! He’s very physically affectionate with his sweetheart, always ready to pull her in for a tight, cheek-squishing hug, or to take her hand in his and entwine their fingers, or to brush her hair aside and plant a loving kiss on her forehead.
And while all those forms of affection are great, nothing brings Finn greater happiness than being able to spend an evening with his beloved, snuggled up under a warm blanket, her chest to his back, their arms looped, her hands rubbing up and down his chest and tummy. Finn is absolutely a fan of being the little spoon (he loves the feeling of being cradled so gently, and of being protected in a bubble of love and intimacy!), but he’s also really in love with how it feels to cuddle face-to-face, hugged to one another, faces inches apart, smiling at one another and talking quietly.
He adores when his sweetheart traces his face, and especially when she takes the time to rub at his tight, knotted shoulders and ease the aches there. Finn makes the happiest sighs of relief and comfort when she massages the back of his neck or gently scritches her nails along the base of his head, delicately tingling the short hairs that reside just along the nape of his neck, sending soothing electricity all up and down his spine.
In turn, he likes to enfold her in his arms-- which have grown strong and muscular from his exercise and combat, as well as from his Force training with Rey-- and squeeze her to him, almost like a teddy bear, pressing his face into the crook of her neck and breathing in the warm, fluttery scent of her, as if he can’t quite believe he’s able to really have this, a love so real and strong and tangible.
However, because of his exhausting duties as a general, Finn often can only enjoy the cuddles for so long before the comfort lulls him into a deep, well-earned sleep, and the two of them often naturally assume their preferred sleeping positions; her on her back, arms encircling Finn’s shoulders, and Finn resting his head on her chest, ear pressed to her heart, one of his hands atop her belly and the other under her back. It’s utterly adorable.
F = Feelings (When did they know they were in love?):
For Finn, that’s a complex answer, because he feels strong, intense attachments very quickly, and his emotional connections to people define him. So when he met the woman who would one day be his beloved, he had an instantaneous, immediate reaction to her: a positive, affectionate, longing feeling took root in him and was unshakeable ever since.
He likes to think of that as love at first sight, but, in reality, Finn really has no personal experience with romantic attraction, as Stormtroopers were discouraged from forming emotional attachments to their cohorts and were expressly forbidden from pursuing romantic relationships. He knew about love and attraction only theoretically, and didn’t quite know what to expect if-slash-when he felt it himself; all he knew was he liked this girl. He liked her a lot. He liked her so much that when he thought about being away from her, it made him anxious and frustrated and unwilling to part, and, if he did have to be away from her, would be left feeling constantly concerned over her and her welfare. And, god, he thinks she’s beautiful.
Is that love? He’s not sure. Part of him, inexperienced and adoring, absolutely believes it is. He knows he feels for her; he senses her, is aware of her even when they’re separated, thinks of her constantly. But the other part, pragmatic and frustrated, isn’t willing to risk his heart by saying that he loves her if such a feeling is merely an unreturned affection, or if he’s just too juvenile to know the difference between “like” and “love”.
He went back and forth like this, constantly tormenting himself-- were her friendly greetings just that, or were they more? Were her smiles at him flirtatious, or was he just reading between nonexistent lines?-- until it drove him to vexation. He couldn’t last much longer like this.
Part of his Force training with Rey was meditation, and as the two of them sat in a distant corner of the forest on Ajan Kloss, he was instructed to close his eyes and focus his thoughts, allowing them to slip away until he’d reached a state of transcendent emptiness in order to open himself to the ebb and flow of the energies around him, past and present.
Rey was already cross-legged, eyes shut tightly, and Finn drew in a deep breath, sighing it back out as he closed his own eyes and tried to be mindful of his thoughts. He thought of empty, black space, of a vacuum of silence, of--
A smile. Glittering eyes. A friendly, warm voice. The brush of a hand against his, passing in the hallway. A wave from across the mess hall.
Try as he might, Finn couldn’t push the thoughts of her away. He shook his head and sucked in another calming breath, but then he imagined the way her scent lingered after she’d walked by him, or the funny way she fidgeted with her sleeves during meetings, and then he was lost, far-flung from the psychic emptiness Rey had been trying to guide him to.
Just as his thoughts wandered to what she might be doing at the moment, and a sort of fuzzy, blurry premonition of her current status was beginning to form for him, as it sometimes did when he was thinking of her, Finn heard Rey begin to chuckle, her laughter light and airy. He cracked one eye open and gazed at her incredulously.
“I can hear you from over here,” Rey said, her own eyes still closed. Finn noted that she hovered a few inches off the ground; show-off.
“I’m not saying anything,” he remarked. “I’m quiet. See? Quiet.”
“Finn, please. You’re thinking so loud it’s practically rattling the trees.”
Finn felt his face go hot; could she read his thoughts?
“She’s very pretty, by the way,” Rey added, opening one eye to glance at him with a playful, teasing mirth. “I can see why you’re having a hard time tuning her out.”
“Oh, that’s--,” he stammered, “I’m-- That is not what is going-- How dare you!-- If Leia were here--”
“Oh, come on, don’t be a big baby,” she snorted, rolling her eyes at Finn’s indignation as she floated back down to the ground. “There’s a reason you can’t get her out of your mind. It’s completely natural.”
He grumbled something indistinct and crossed his arms, unwilling to meet his friend’s eye as he burned up in red-hot shame.
“The Force guides us,” Rey said as she picked at a loose strand of grass. “It binds us as much to what we fear as to what we love. And for those of us particularly sensitive to those bonds, it can show us what-- and who-- we are most connected to.”
She looked up from the grass and smiled at Finn, her brows knit in bemusement.
“So, maybe, if you’re thinking about her, and you’re sensitive to her, and you can, you know, feel her around you... maybe you ought to consider that what binds you together might be important. For both of you.”
Finn hesitated for a moment, then leaned forward conspiratorially, voice lowered.
“Do you do this to everyone, or just me? Like, can you read minds? Am I gonna be able to do that?”
Rey laughed again and once more rolled her eyes, tossing her handful of grass scraps at Finn and leaning back on her elbows as he swatted the grass away.
“You’ll be fine, Finn,” she sighed, gazing up at the sky. “Just be open to the reality of your feelings. You know what you feel.”
As Finn followed her gaze up into the clouds and paused to think, he felt a tentative, hesitant smile begin to creep across his features, a sheepish, fluttering sensation building in the pit of his stomach. He closed his eyes and took in a breath-- this one actually serving to calm him-- and let it back out, freeing himself from a weight on his chest that he hadn’t even been aware of.
In the sunlight filtering through his lids, Finn could see her; the distant outline of his beloved, coming softly into focus. His smile widened.
He knew.
U = Unencumbered (What helps them relax?):
Finn has a lot of stressors in his life.
He is constantly a little high-strung, between his naturally energetic personality and the difficulty of his work as one of the active generals of the Resistance, so he doesn’t always manage to find time for himself, especially since he can often get so lost in his work that he almost forgets his own physical needs and limitations.
So, when he needs a little relaxation, he’s not often the one to realize it. His sweetheart is. She’ll see his taut posture and rigid face, the dark circles under his eyes, the sweat of his brow, and she’ll take him aside and gently run her hands up and down his face, trailing her fingers along his neck in that tantalizingly soothing way, and will whisper in his ear in a concerned but loving tone that he needs to take a rest.
“Baby,” he’ll whine, casting an anxious glance back at whatever room she’ll have pulled him from, “They need me!”
“I know,” she’ll coo back as she takes his face in her hands, “But I need you, too. And you’ll be of no help to anyone if you run yourself ragged. You don’t make your best decisions when you’re exhausted, do you, honey?”
He’ll let out a tired groan and put his face in her shoulder, allowing her to carefully card her fingers up and down his back and into the base of his hair, rubbing in just the way that melts him every time, and, after a few moments, he’ll acquiesce and let her take him back to their quarters.
A good, long cuddle and a nap are often employed to help him relax and take a load off, but he also loves it when she draws a bath for him and sits by his side, talking to him and massaging his hands as they chat, or gently working out the kinks and knots in his shoulders as he lays in the water.
Finn also, surprisingly, takes a great deal of pleasure in “fantasy vacation planning”. He loves to dream of life after the war-- once the planets have justice restored and the Republic takes back political control, reestablishing democracy throughout the Galaxy-- and, specifically, where the two of them will travel to and what they’ll do when they get there.
He hasn’t been able to see the Galaxy’s wonders, yet, much less in times of peace, so he likes to look up tour guides and vacation documents, guides to planets with beautiful beaches or thriving city lives, resorts and destinations not to be missed. Finn takes particular pleasure in planning these vacations as honeymoons, too; he looks at hotels packages for couples or what their honeymoon suites are like, and talks to his beloved about where she’d like to go and what she’d like to do.
“Coruscant has a thriving vacation district,” he says, holding his sweetheart on his lap as they scroll through the data. “That might be nice.”
“You sure you don’t want to go to Bar Neth?,” she teases as she plants a kiss on his cheek, watching him squint to glare at her. “That Dude Ranch package sounded mighty tempting!”
“No desert planets,” Finn reiterates. “Never again.”
She smooches his lips as he continues scrolling, and he can’t help but break a smile; even just the act of fantasizing about where they can go once this is all over helps him feel more at ease, more hopeful, more ready to take on whatever life can throw at him. If he has her by his side (and the back-pocketed hope of visiting one of the very upscale resorts located in one of those beautiful Core systems), he can handle anything.
Thank you!
