I'm not surprised about the backlash against the remaster of a seven-year-old game but I for one am absolutely thrilled! Zero Dawn will be even better with all the updates that made Forbidden West visual eye-candy!

Horizon Fan Game Released!

In celebration of the release of the Horizon fan game/visual novel @focusontheheart today, I was moved to attempt this Hades-ish style portrait of my favorite Horizon character.

I was doubly honored to be asked to do an illustration for the Kotallo narrative (not the above, you’ll have to play to see it! It’s the wet one. I can’t say more.)

A lot of excellent and dedicated fans worked hard on this game and I can’t wait to play it myself this weekend. Check out @focusontheheart to download it for FREE from itch.io.

“Is this beautiful?” Elbie asked his dear friend, his gaze glued to the object gripped in his hand. 

“No, Elbie.” Alfons sighed; he reached out with his gloved hand and gently pried the item from his fist, much like a parent would do with their child.   He placed the item on the vanity, away from Elbert’s reach.

“Look at me Elbie,” Alfons whispered into Elbert’s ear. Their faces were so close, close enough to touch. There was a faint blush coloring Elbert’s cheeks as he lifted his gaze to meet his friend.

“Just say the word, Elbie,” Alfons said softly, leaning a bit closer to Elbert, his cheek grazed by the other’s pale blonde bangs, as he rested his arm on top of the chair Elbert was seated in. “And I can make it all go away.” His smile widened as he brushed his thumb across the nape of Elbert’s neck.

Elbert stared back at his friend in the mirror with a childlike innocence. The hand that was resting on the top of his thigh began to move, his fingertips inching towards Alfons’ hand. That’s it, come a little closer, Alfons thought to himself.

“All I have to do is take off my gloves,” Alfons whispered, his words a seductive purr in Elbert’s ear.

His lips parted, the words waiting to roll off Elbert's tongue. “I –, no…” he finally sighed, pulling his hand back to his knee.

“Very well,” Alfons said, a hint of sadness clouding his eyes. His hand fell to Elbert’s shoulder, giving him a gentle squeeze. Alfons straightened his back, but not before he bruised the gentlest kiss onto Elbert’s temple.

“I’ll leave you with your treasures,” Alfons said before leaving the room.

First Impressions of Lego: Horizon Adventures

Articles and videos have started dropping from people who have played the demo of Lego: Horizon Adventures. Their impressions seem to be that it's good Lego fun that works well with Horizon's setting, a retelling of Horizon Zero Dawn that gears the story towards a young audience but is still a fun time for Horizon fans.

Ashly Burch is confirmed to return as Aloy "in full goblin mode", along with JB Blanc as Rost; "most of the original voice cast was up for the challenge of reprising their same roles, but with the goofiness dial turned up to 11"

Sylens will also be returning and his voice has been recast, after the passing of Lance Reddick; the name of the new actor has not been revealed

Details include grass that lights on fire from flame attacks and a hot dog stand that can injure enemies

Mother’s Heart is your main hub village, and you unlock abilities and upgrades at the All Mother Tree; you can also customize the buildings in the village with various decor and designs

Aloy and all the NPCs that hang out in your home base of Mother's Heart have a wide variety of outfit options, both Horizon accurate clothing and typical Lego fun (there is a specific mention of making Aloy wear Avad's Sun King outfit, which sounds adorable)

There are multiple playable characters but only Aloy and Varl are currently confirmed; there is speculation of how many there are and who the others could be (having played Lego Jurassic World, the cast of payable characters could be quite vast; you could even play dinosaurs there, which makes me wonder if we'll be able to play as machines, just a theory!)
