Here are some companies that strongly support Israel (but are not Boycott targets). There is no ethical consumption under capitalism and boycotting is a political strategy - not a moral one. If you did try to boycott every supporter of Israel you would struggle to survive because every major company supports Israel (as a result of attempting to keep the US economy afloat), that being said, the ones that are being boycotted by masses and not already on the organic boycott list are coloured red.

Pro Palestine people are boycotting Starbucks for suing their union for making a pro palestine statement. Timothy was probably holding a Starbucks cup.
Hi Nonnie!
I was aware of the dumb call to boycott Stabucks, but I missed that Timothee's coffee cup was bought there. I went back to have a look, and you're right, it's a bit obscured, because of the cup holder, but the logo is there.
Tumblr media
To the best of my knowledge, Timothee Chalamet has never expressed himself when it comes to the conflict one way or another. I'm also pretty sure he is NOT the only person who has continued to buy coffee at Starbucks. Yet, they're not canceling other Starbucks clients, not even other famous ones. I did a quick Google search for celebs currently affiliated with Starbucks, not just drinking a cup bought there, and found Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande. But I've seen no signs of either being canceled over that. Literally, they're hounding him for being Jewish, and trying to hide the antisemitism behind a coffee cup, that's it.
Also, while we're at it, how is the "big bad" that the antisemitic BDS movement calling to boycott, a coffee brand that doesn't even have a single branch in Israel? I very much doubt Starbucks is the only company to take a stand against decisions that would make Jewish employees feel unsafe. And neither Israelis, not the Israeli economy, will be hurt by this boycott, which is supposedly the goal of the BDS movement. Local employees of Starbucks, on the other hand, might end up being financially harmed. And some of them are apparently pro-Palestinian, so the irony is truly something.
Which brings me to a truth no one wants to admit about the BDS movement... they're not asking you to boycott companies, because it will financially hurt Israel. They're asking you to boycott anything or anyone, doesn't matter who it'll be, doesn't matter who gets hurt, because they want to reinforce in the public's mind the idea of Israel as a pariah state, and because they want you to do anything that will make you actively a part in this. When you actively participate in something, no matter how small the action you take, you become more invested in it. And that's what they want, so who cares if the excuse is flimsy, who cares if Israel won't be affected at all, who cares if regular Starbucks employees will get hurt in the process? The goal of demonizing the Jews sanctifies the means.

Hello, a reader from Palestine here. Would you mind sharing this link with everyone? https://www.islamic-relief.org.uk/giving/appeals/palestine/gaza/ Even a $1 would help people. Please anything that you can do to help. Share. We have lost too much but I have hope that people will help us in every way they can
Where to donate for Palestine:
Anera
Palestine Children's Relief Fund
Medical Aid for Palestinians
UNICEF
Islamic Relief
Red Cross
Most of these are their Irish sites, but please seek out your local branches. The humanitarian situation in Gaza was already dire, but it's escalating day by day. At the moment, it's difficult for aid organisations to get through into Gaza since the Rafah crossing has been closed, but Israeli officials have indicated that they may allow more aid through in the coming days.
Please bear in mind that even if you do donate for the aid efforts, the aid entering Palestine does not include fuel, which was banned by Israel, needed to power hospitals, water and sewage works, and generate electricity.
If you're not in the financial position to donate, you can still do your part to support Palestine!
Boycott Israeli goods and the corporations that are profiting from Israel's crimes. The BDS have a list of corporations that are complicit in the violation of Palestinian rights. Check them out here.
And please, please, let your voices be heard. Pressure your TDs, MPs, Senators, MEPs, or any of your political representatives into support by emailing them. Join protests and solidarity marches. Keep expressing support loudly, we need to tell our leaders that we won’t be silent in the face of Israeli war crimes, illegal collective punishment, and threats of mass ethnic cleansing.

"#i remember first reading the black dragons arc and i was convinced koko and Yuzuha were secretly dating lmaoooo" wait what? can u tell me more?
Ok so there were a few tiny reasons I thought this all of them being extremely wrong now that we know what actually happened but at the time I thought I was onto something here. The first one being Koko not getting involved during the first incident until after Yuzuha got involved. At this point Inui was already threatening and waving the knife around at Hakkai but Koko said nothing and seemed unbothered until after Yuzuha stepped in. At the time it seemed like he was maybe trying to protect her from Inui.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then we had the bit where Yuzuha seems unhappy that Mitsuya freed her from her financial role and seems annoyed Hakkai would do this. I kinda assumed this was because she already had a plan to get away from Taiju and she was worried about Hakkai accidentally messing it up/ getting involved. I also thought she was potentially stealing money from the funds as a sort of escape plan (I figured Wakui specifically stating she collected money was going to be important). And her not doing that job anymore meant she couldn't get anymore which would give her a reason to be annoyed at Mitsuya.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then we had the link, the part where it showed Koko was obviously interested in money. So at this point money had been brought up twice within a couple chapters and I figured it was linked somehow, like they were both trying to get money. This was also the part where Koko showed he was willing to betray Taiju but refused to say why. I thought it made perfect sense for this reason to be Yuzuha. He didn't like how the boss was abusing his girlfriend but wasn't strong enough to do anything about it himself so was happy to betray him in hopes the others would do something. (This is very funny to think about now but I was really convinced this was it at the time).
Tumblr media
Then we had the day of the fight, at the black dragons meeting we saw Inui do all the talking while Koko just stood there with an expression that looked like he was deep in thought. Then directly after this we saw Yuzuha get a text from someone. So I just assumed Koko was that someone and they were planning something.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then this is where I started doubting it, since Koko and Inui had that talk and Koko said he was sticking with Inui and Inui mentioned a promise. I couldn't figure out where Inui would fit into this, especially since we've only seen him being loyal to the bd. But I thought maybe the promise was like an oath to the bd or something and Inui had suspicions of Koko being a traitor???
Tumblr media
And then finally, the moment where I realised I was completely wrong. When Koko entered the church he seemed nothing but happy. I figured if he was going to break character/ reveal his true motivations then it would've been here. If he actually cared for her then seeing her so badly hurt here would've been what made him slip up and reveal himself.
Tumblr media
Looking back it was definitely a wild theory where I took a load of small things and read a bit too much into certain bits!

“boycotts work” in response to starbucks apparently losing money like… okay work to do what??? what has starbucks done, in response to losing money due to the boycott, to stop materially supporting israel? well. they weren’t materially supporting israel in the first place, were they. like perhaps i missed something in all of this but if i’m not mistaken it started because of them suing union members who posted about supporting palestine? which sucks! but… what is the express goal of boycotting them? punish them for being in support israel? sure! a perfectly good reason not to spend your money at starbucks! there’s PLENTY of good reasons not to give starbucks your money im all for, in general, not financially supporting them. but you can’t say a boycott “worked” if there was no goal in the first place. beyond making them lose money. you’re supposed to make them lose money SO THAT THEY WILL DO SOMETHING. starbucks is not a part of the official bds boycott list! mcdonald’s was added but starbucks still hasn’t been! because again. there is no clear goal. AND YET it’s the most “popular” thing to boycott. bc everyone can feel like they’re participating bc it’s *starbucks* and yeah you’re not buying HP or puma products every day to begin with but not buying your starbucks drink makes you feel like you’re doing something.
#sorry this is a mess idk where to put line breaks#i’m just soooo sick of starbucks starbucks starbucks#FUCK starbucks to be clear if it’s possible to boycott them successfully enough to make a difference that’s a GOOD THING#wish it was being channeled into something more practical#if we can boycott starbucks can we boycott them in protest of their union busting#like not that this isn’t important but a starbucks boycott isn’t going to materially affect things in This Situation#but there are other things starbucks is doing that a boycott with clear goals COULD accomplish#literally this is all related to their anti union practices too#anyway choosing not to spend your money somewhere because you don’t support their views#is a perfectly good thing to do im not saying you should go buy every drink from starbucks#i’m saying what is the POINT of the starbucks boycott and why is it ALL that gets talked about#when everything actually on the bds list gets glossed over#r.txt#similarly i saw a tweet like ‘(brand) is on the bds boycott list’ and i looked it up and it is not#the source was an app that tells you if companies support israel#both materially or in like statements and stuff#AND AGAIN. i also want to try to avoid israeli products when i can#or companies w ties to israel#but that is NOT the same as bds#i hate that i’m mad about this i’m just like okay what do you want starbucks to DO???#it just feels like all it’s done is take focus away from ACTUALL bds boycotts by becoming Thee Boycott

Thank you for your solidarity with Palestine, people like you give me faith in the world.
https://www.amnestyusa.org/with-whom-are-many-u-s-police-departments-training-with-a-chronic-human-rights-violator-israel/
Here’s an article about how US cops are trained in Israel. It really opened my eyes to the connection between the occupation of Palestine & the police repression on turtle island (usamerica).
I hope you’re having a wonderful day. 💜
Hi back anon, I feel the same sense of gratitude when I meet someone who supports Palestine and its resistance. :)
I live in France, a country where NGOs working to help Palestine have been threatened with dissolution, their members have been prosecuted for relaying the message of the BDS movement, although fortunately the European Court of Human Rights has ruled an end to this practice, and reminded the French government that a boycott is a legitimate and legal means of expressing a political opinion, and that the expression of a political opinion is a fundamental freedom.
And the attitude of the mainstream media is to deny the rights of the Palestinian people: from erasing the struggle for Palestine from the consciousness of European citizens by not reporting on the news about the daily murder of Palestinian children, to choosing to qualify the Palestinian armed resistance as terrorists, and including the entire Palestinian nation in this category.
The Western discourse on Palestine is so disgustingly pro-Zionist and pro-colonialism, I feel suffocated in this country. Meeting people on social media who think like me and can point out the facts, especially that Palestine is a human rights issue, that racists are trying to hide behind false and malicious accusations of anti-Semitism and of disrespect for the victims of the genocide of the Second World War - is my oxygen.
I am not quite alone: being Arab, Muslim, Algerian (a country that lived under the most brutal colonial regime, the one created by France for 130 years before winning after a long, bloody and hard struggle its independence ) means I have a whole community that supports the same ideas as me, but outside of our community it's very lonely.
So i'm very happy too to knew that you're around.💛
Thank you for the link!:) I remember reading some similar articles when there was an increase of police brutality in France against arabs and black people. Historians, sociologists and human rights activists pointed out that the current organization of the frenc police dates back to the colonial period and was massively shaped by people who used brutality to control indigenous people, which was obviously the case too in Palestine and in USA where POC and native american are the 1st victims of the brutality.
It is therefore not surprising that the Zionists now form the American police, it is a complete circle where both parties are driven by the same racist and murderous logic.
As Corbyn said in the tweet I posted, the Zionist regime was born out of the massacre and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people: the Nakba, which is still ongoing to this day. That is why in my opinion it cannot be fixed or saved, just like the police in the United States, both cannot be reformed but must be defunded (Zionist regime survives mainly because American financial support in the form of public subsidies), and ultimately destroyed.
Have a nice day too anon!💛

okay i’ll bite: tell us about brittany dawn, bestie
oh bestie, buckle up. i'm going to do my best to hit every point, but please trust me when i tell you it's So Much. TW for eating disorders, racism, evangelical and charasmatic christianity, animal abuse, pregnancy loss, basically the whole gamut.
(some of the things listed here are absolutely petty, but based on how fucking horrible of a human she is, i'm allowing myself the space to be petty)
here are a few outside sources that will give a much more comprehensive history:
BrittanyDawnSnark subreddit
Brittany Dawn tag on the FundieSnarkUncensored subreddit (contains shit she did before the advent of the BDS subreddit)
FundieFridays's videos (note: if evangelical christianity is interesting to you, i HIGHLY recommend Jen and James's channel; she's hilarious, and always hits every single point)
Comprehensive article from The Guardian
FITNESS SCANDAL AND LAWSUIT
so, brittany dawn nelson (nee davis) shot to public knowledge back in the mid-2010s instagram fitness influencer uptick. at her height, she was selling a workout program that offered a customized workout plan tailored for your needs, and a matching diet plan, along with a channel of communication directly with her where clients could ask for advice, tweaks, etc. it's also important to note that at this time, she was making instagram content talking about how she overcame an eating disorder. i will say that she wasn't explicitly marketing herself as an expert on eating disorders, BUT she was heavily implying that she was capable of servicing clients who either were actively suffering from an eating disorder or had also beaten one.
however, after a year or so of doing this, some women in her private facebook group weren't too happy with her service provision. despite claiming that she would offer encouragement, or even just a listening ear, her texts to her clients were few and far between, as well as very generic. so, they all got to talking, and they found out that the "personalized" workout and diet plans she was selling them were all the exact same. even the clients who expressed to her upon purchase that they were affected by an eating disorder were getting the same diet plans as clients who did not, which as you can imagine could lead to horrible results.
they brought this information public, and the backlash was immense. back in 2018-2019 is when it all blew up in her face; there was a viral video of a father confronting her at a fitness convention for stealing his daughter's money.
brittany went quiet after this for a while, and when she returned to social media she had suddenly converted to evangelical, charismatic christianty and was preaching about jesus and demons and all sorts of religious gobbledegook (to be clear, because this website loves pissing on the poor, christianity is fine; brittany, however, is very clearly not LMAO). she constantly uses her religious beliefs to skirt taking any sort of responsibility for what she did.
in 2022, brittany was sued by the state of Texas for this. she eventually settled out of court. infamously, during the discovery period (where each side of the lawsuit submits their evidence), she missed the deadline to provide her financial statements because she claimed she couldn't figure out how to save a pdf. i'm so dead serious.
ANIMAL ABUSE
brittany's parents own a ranch, and she has talked multiple times about her horse Harley and how she loves riding him. however (and i am not a horse girl, so i can't confirm myself, but i did see a lot of other horse girls confirming this) she very clearly does not ride him as often as she says she does. she also, one time, boarded him at a barn, and left a bad review. the owner responded and said that her horse had been massively underfed, and she barely came to visit him.
she's also owned multiple animals that just. stop appearing in her content (and she is AWAYS producing content. literally always.). the timeline i linked is pretty comprehensive, but in case you can't take a look, she's had at least 5 dogs over the last few years that she either gave away, or just stopped having somehow.
you may have also heard of her dog, brodie. infamously, in late 2021 he somehow got out of her and her husband's (more on him in a bit) backyard, ran into the street, and got hit by a car (i can't remember if it was their car or a neighbor's). instead of, you know, bringing him to the vet for treatment (he had substantial injuries), her husband just. shot the dog in the street. and she acted like this was some unavoidable tragedy (you will see this type of outlook on events a lot).
SHITTY HUSBAND
prior to marrying her current husband, brittany married her high school sweetheart, zach. they divorced, which is fine, obviously. but then, she met her current husband, jordan nelson.
you might think, hey, why does that name sound familiar? well, if you guessed, "he was sued by the aclu in 2013 for excessive force against a Black man" congrats! you're correct! he was subsequently fired from the kansas city police department afterwards. however, you can take the man out of the police, but you can never take the police out of the man. he currently works for an "anti-human trafficking" non-profit (they talked about it on a podcast they went on, they refused to name the organization because they don't want him to face the consequences of his actions and get fired.
during the time brittany and jordan were dating/engaged, she would CONSTANTLY post about how they were waiting until marriage to move in together and have sex. constantly talking about it, and always with a 'holier-than-thou' attitude. except...this was a lie, because in the weeks leading up to their wedding it was pretty obvious from the backgrounds of her instagram stories that he was absolutely living with her. she also posted the cringiest story on their wedding night of them jumping on their hotel bed with some bs about how you shouldn't settle for a man who just wants sex.
he was also still married when they met. again, not in and of itself an issue, obviously, but when you put it into the context of "she thinks she's better than everyone for being a christian and consistently condescends people for shit she also did/does," it's just not a good look.
jordan has also allegedly been talking to other women and sending nudes to other women before and during their marriage.
he constantly has this bulge in his lower lip, which is believed to be a packing of dip tobacco; you may see him referred to as "J-Dip" in snark circles, and this is why.
THE JAMES SITUATION
back in 2021, brittany and jordan stumbled upon a homeless man named james, who struggled with addiction. they set up a gofundme to help get him into rehab, but as i'm sure you've guessed, it had horrid roots of grifting and scamming.
they ended up raising about $25,000 to send james to some sort of rehabilitation program. later, it came out through a (now deleted) tiktok from james that the rehab they sent him to was some sort fo sham rehab that was really, more or less, some sort of labor camp disguised as a rehab.
during this time, even though james had already gone to "rehab," they continued to raise money for him. despite claiming that they were constantly in touch with him, james has said that not only was he not able to get in touch with them (brittany literally claimed that jordan was in afghanistan helping people who were being trafficked as the reason why james couldn't reach jordan; he was not in afghanistan), but he also alleged that he has not seen a single cent raised for him.
since that came out, his sister allegedly got in touch with brittany and jordan, but to my knowledge there have not been any updates since.
MISCARRIAGE/FOSTER PARENTING
a little under a year ago, brittany posted that she had conceived, but tragically lost the baby. this is a horrible thing to go through, and i don't want people to think i'm saying that this is something "wrong" she did.
she did, however, post incessantly (51 times!) about it immediately after this announcement. talking about your miscarriage is, of course, not a bad thing at all. that is a very personal experience that i believe needs to be shared more, to help destigmatize it; it's pretty obvious, based on what we know about her, though, that this less "bringing awareness" and more "monetizing her experience and consistently evoking pity to try and hide behind it to avoid consequences".
AGAIN, FOR THOSE WHO PISS ON THE POOR: PUT INTO CONTEXT OF HER ENTIRE INTERNET HISTORY, AND HER RANCID PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS, SHE WAS ABSOLUTELY MILKING IT FOR PITY AND FOR LIKES.
before she conceived, brittany and jordan revealed that they had been approved to be foster parents (probably through some shady christian adoption agency). they have since fostered 2 babies (who have since been returned to their families). during this time, brittany would constantly post lip service about reunification, and would absolutely exploit those children. she did blur out their faces/identifying information, but the way she spoke about the parents and the entire fostering process, it was clear that she and jordan want to foster to adopt (which is a whole other issue aside from these two idiots), and were absolutely willing to rip these children away from their families.
they've also made it clear that any child they foster will be subjected to their horrible religion and belief system.
before they fostered their first baby, they held a baby shower for it? super fucking weird.
SHELIVESFREED RETREATS
in 2021, brittany started her own ministry called SheLivesFreed (often referred to in the snark community as SheilaFraud, due to some unfortunate [or maybe fortunate?] subtitles in a video).
a journalist from buzzfeednews actually went to one and wrote a good article here, which i highly suggest reading. the main highlight from these (women-only) retreats are the times when she and the event leaders would "baptize" people in a bathtub in a suite they had rented out. jordan was also there, which was just...weird.
THEIR WEIRD CHURCH
prior to their current church, brittany and jordan were regular members of Mercy Church in fort worth, texas, which is just as awful as you can imagine. mercy church's associated school has since been revealed to have a horrid culture.
OTHER SHIT THAT ISN'T NECESSARILY BAD BUT SHOULD BE MENTIONED FOR A LARGER PICTURE
brittany openly celebrated the overturning of roe v. wade
brittany and jordan's wedding copied multiple elements from brittany's first marriage to zach, including the pre-ceremony prayer around a building corner. her wedding dress is infamous amongst the snark community because of how horribly it was tailored. based on the internet behavior of the vendors who were at the wedding, it can be surmised that it was some sort of vendor promotion circle jerk. someone did some sleuthing and found out that most (if not all) of her wedding party we Yes-Women she had somewhat recently met at her church; so, like, just women she wanted to fill out pictures, not any childhood friends, or close family, which is pretty telling to me.
brittany's sister wasn't speaking with her for a while. i believe they are on civil terms now.
brittany constantly posts about how believing in jesus has set her free from her eating disorder, yet constantly posts pictures and videos that many believe to be "body checking," which is popular amongst ED circles where the subject will post pictures to show how small they are.
she CONSTANTLY preaches to us poor lost souls about "modesty" in dressing and stuff, and then does not do any of it.
brittany always posts "candid" pictures and moments on her instgram stories, and it's so obvious that jordan hates it and barely tolerates it. it would be sad if it wasn't this situation, but honestly these two dolts deserve to be miserable.
one time she claimed that the holy spirit told her not to have coffee creamers anymore.
anyways! thank you for coming to my Christian Influencer Lore post.

Normalization Could Create a Real “New Middle East”
The main thing you need to know about the normalization of relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates is that Iran, Turkey, the Palestinian Authority, Hamas, IfNotNow, Jewish Voice for Peace, and other enemies of the Jewish state oppose it.
Opponents of the deal like to call it a “betrayal of the Palestinians.” It isn’t: rather, it’s a betrayal of the PLO and Hamas, organizations which are the worst thing to happen to Palestinian Arabs since the Nazi Mufti Amin al-Husseini.
Countries don’t have feelings and don’t form friendships. They have interests and form alliances in support of them. The PLO was created in 1964 by Nasser’s regime in order to promote Egyptian objectives, which were to conquer and annex as much as possible of the new state of Israel; later it came under the influence of the KGB, which employed it on behalf of Soviet interests in the region.
Neither Egypt, which forced Palestinian refugees into camps in 1948 (and to this day does not grant full Egyptian citizenship to Palestinians living in Egypt), nor the other Arab states and the Soviet Union, viewed Palestinian Arabs as anything other than a weapon to use against Israel, and the PLO, their creature, reflected this.
In 1982, the PLO was defeated by Israel and Maronite Christian forces in the First Lebanon War. But instead of being treated like the war criminals they were, the leadership of the PLO was allowed to flee under UN auspices to Tunisia. One would have thought that the PLO, removed from close contact with Palestinian Arabs, would lose influence and die out. But in 1987 there was a popular Palestinian uprising in the territories, the First Intifada, and PLO-connected groups managed to coopt and control it, brutally suppressing anti-PLO Palestinians as “collaborators.” The PLO made itself the de facto representative of the Palestinians in the territories.
And now Israel made one of her greatest mistakes since 1948, the Oslo Accords. Oslo created a “temporary” Palestinian Authority (PA) to govern the territories until a final status agreement could be made, which of course never happened. But the PA, in essence the PLO, still controls the parts of Judea and Samaria where most Palestinians live. In Gaza, the PLO was overthrown by a violent coup by Hamas in 2005.
Both the PA and Hamas function as dictatorships (the PA is supposed to be democratic, but hasn’t held an election since 2005). Both are supported by large amounts of foreign money via UNRWA and other sources. They are both massively corrupt; “connected” Palestinians live like kings, while most of the population lacks basic needs. Both maintain their maximalist demands against Israel, which have kept the conflict simmering with intermittent boiling over into large-scale violence – the Second Intifada and multiple Gaza conflicts. And both have created educational and media systems that teach their youth to hate Jews and Israelis enough that even children have become capable of murdering Jews at random in the streets.
The PLO and Hamas depend on the conflict as an excuse for their dictatorial control, and for much of their foreign money. It’s their reason for being. So there can be no “normalization” of relations between Palestinian Arabs and Jews on their watch. The conflict must go on. And this has been bolstered by almost universal Arab and Muslim solidarity – until today.
The peace treaties with Egypt and Jordan called for some degree of normalization, but these aspects have not been realized. The peace has been “cold” from the beginning. This isn’t an accident. Indeed the growth of anti-Jewish and anti-Israel expression in Egypt and Jordan – which sometimes bursts out in murderous incidents – ensures that there will not be normalization in the near future. Like the PLO, the leadership of these countries has been prepared to compromise to some extent to achieve the practical benefits of non-belligerence; but they have not rejected the destruction of Jewish sovereignty as an ultimate objective.
The negotiations with the UAE, on the other hand, at least at this point, seem to express a wholly different spirit, one in which actual normalization and not just non-belligerence seems to be the goal. Nothing could infuriate the Palestinian leadership more, since their unhappy subjects will see, for the first time, that the option of unending hostility is not the only choice. If other Arab nations join in as expected, it will be even more persuasive.
Naturally, the Iranian and Turkish regimes (correctly) see these developments as the creation of an economic and military alliance that opposes their geopolitical ambitions. But what about Jewish Voice for Peace, IfNotNow, and similar Western leftist groups? How can we understand their opposition to what is, after all, a movement in the direction of reducing conflict, perhaps a movement that will ultimately lead to the long-desired end of the Israeli-Arab conflict?
It’s simple. They say they are concerned for the welfare of the Palestinian people, but that is not true, and never has been true. The welfare of the Palestinians would best be served by the replacement of the PLO and Hamas by less corrupt leaders that would favor normalization and closer cooperation between Palestinians and Israelis. There is no doubt that if instead of paying terrorists to murder Jews, Palestinian leaders worked together with Israelis to develop economic alternatives to the international dole, the lives of ordinary Palestinians would be greatly improved. I am sure that many Palestinians already think so, but are afraid to publicly say it in the face of PLO and Hamas repression.
IfNotNow and Jewish Voice for Peace – and countless other such organizations – have as their objective the elimination of the Jewish state, not the welfare of Palestinians. For that reason, they support BDS, the PLO and Hamas. They are supported financially by anti-Israel sources (see here and here) like the massive Rockefeller Brothers Fund. Their opposition to normalization exposes them for what they are.
One doesn’t want to be too optimistic at this early stage. It can be noted that there will probably be a backlash from religiously conservative elements against Jewish sovereignty anywhere in the region. It can be argued that the apparent rapprochement between Israel and some Sunni Arab states is nothing more than a temporary alliance against Iran. But I don’t think so. I think there is beginning to be an understanding, at least on the part of some Arabs, that the continued demonization of Israel does not serve their long-term interests. And the possibilities for the future are breathtaking.

❏ STREAMING MEDIA ❏ Streaming media is multimedia that is constantly received by and presented to an end-user while being delivered by a provider. The verb to stream refers to the process of delivering or obtaining media in this manner.[clarification needed] Streaming refers to the delivery method of the medium, rather than the medium itself. Distinguishing delivery method from the media distributed applies specifically to telecommunications networks, as most of the delivery systems are either inherently streaming (e.g. radio, television, streaming apps) or inherently non-streaming (e.g. books, video cassettes, audio CDs). There are challenges with streaming content on the Internet. For example, users whose Internet connection lacks sufficient bandwidth may experience stops, lags, or slow buffering of the content. And users lacking compatible hardware or software systems may be unable to stream certain content. Live streaming is the delivery of Internet content in real-time much as live television broadcasts content over the airwaves via a television signal. Live internet streaming requires a form of source media (e.g. a video camera, an audio interface, screen capture software), an encoder to digitize the content, a media publisher, and a content delivery network to distribute and deliver the content. Live streaming does not need to be recorded at the origination point, although it frequently is. Streaming is an alternative to file downloading, a process in which the end-user obtains the entire file for the content before watching or listening to it. Through streaming, an end-user can use their media player to start playing digital video or digital audio content before the entire file has been transmitted. The term “streaming media” can apply to media other than video and audio, such as live closed captioning, ticker tape, and real-time text, which are all considered “streaming text”.
❏ COPYRIGHT CONTENT ❏ Copyright is a type of intellectual property that gives its owner the exclusive right to make copies of a creative work, usually for a limited time.[1][2][3][4][5] The creative work may be in a literary, artistic, educational, or musical form. Copyright is intended to protect the original expression of an idea in the form of a creative work, but not the idea itself.[6][7][8] A copyright is subject to limitations based on public interest considerations, such as the fair use doctrine in the United States. Some jurisdictions require “fixing” copyrighted works in a tangible form. It is often shared among multiple authors, each of whom holds a set of rights to use or license the work, and who are commonly referred to as rights holders.[citation needed][9][10][11][12] These rights frequently include reproduction, control over derivative works, distribution, public performance, and moral rights such as attribution.[13]
Copyrights can be granted by public law and are in that case considered “territorial rights”. This means that copyrights granted by the law of a certain state, do not extend beyond the territory of that specific jurisdiction. Copyrights of this type vary by country; many countries, and sometimes a large group of countries, have made agreements with other countries on procedures applicable when works “cross” national borders or national rights are inconsistent.[14] Typically, the public law duration of a copyright expires 50 to 100 years after the creator dies, depending on the jurisdiction. Some countries require certain copyright formalities[5] to establishing copyright, others recognize copyright in any completed work, without a formal registration. It is widely believed that copyrights are a must to foster cultural diversity and creativity. However, Parc argues that contrary to prevailing beliefs, imitation and copying do not restrict cultural creativity or diversity but in fact support them further. This argument has been supported by many examples such as Millet and Van Gogh, Picasso, Manet, and Monet, etc.[15]
❏ GOODS OF SERVICES ❏ Credit (from Latin credit, “(he/she/it) believes”) is the trust which allows one party to provide money or resources to another party wherein the second party does not reimburse the first party immediately (thereby generating a debt), but promises either to repay or return those resources (or other materials of equal value) at a later date.[1] In other words, credit is a method of making reciprocity formal, legally enforceable, and extensible to a large group of unrelated people. The resources provided may be financial (e.g. granting a loan), or they may consist of goods or services (e.g. consumer credit). Credit encompasses any form of deferred payment.[2] Credit is extended by a creditor, also known as a lender, to a debtor, also known as a borrower.

On Thursday, Nov. 21, a week before Thanksgiving, 500 high school students settled into their seats in the auditorium of the Fieldston School’s main campus, which sprawls over 18 leafy, manicured acres in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, to learn about apartheid. The invited speaker was Kayum Ahmed, an employee of the Open Society Foundations and adjunct faculty member at Columbia University Law School.
Ahmed’s initial presentation at Fieldston went off without a hitch, according to multiple people who attended the talk. But then came the question and answer period. In a video of his response to a student’s query, Ahmed explained his theory of patterns of trauma and oppression, and how they relate to Jews who were massacred during the Holocaust.
“The [Nazi] attacks are a shameful part of history, but in some ways it reflects the fluidity between those who are victims becoming perpetrators,” Ahmed told the Fieldston students and faculty. “I use the same example in talking about the Holocaust. That Jews who suffered in the Holocaust and established the State of Israel today—they perpetuate violence against Palestinians that [is] unthinkable,” he opined.
Ahmed’s comment sent a jolt through the room, students who were present there told Tablet, yet no one present questioned Ahmed’s assertion that survivors of the Holocaust had metabolized the trauma of their own mass murder to inflict “unthinkable” violence on Palestinians. Jewish parents at Fieldston who heard about Ahmed’s remarks were shaken and outraged, texting in chat circles and even threatening, privately, to withdraw their children from the school. A video clip of Ahmed’s presentation began to circulate amongst the school’s community, confirming the veracity of the recollections that upset students had shared with their parents.
As the crowd filtered out of the auditorium, some of the Jewish students present registered the moment with fear and confusion, according to multiple parents and others familiar with the event. In a classroom later that day, one Jewish student shared that Ahmed’s comment was upsetting. According to someone with direct knowledge of the situation, the teacher allegedly responded that there might be less concern about the Holocaust if more people were familiar with the genocides in other nations.
...Parents certainly had reason to be upset; some were the direct descendants of Holocaust survivors, and others had familial or emotional ties to Israel, a small country located in a region of the world where there is no shortage of states and radical fundamentalist groups that routinely echo Nazi calls for the extermination of Jewish populations. Moreover, the Ahmed event was only the latest in a series of what a number of Jewish parents saw as problematic experiences for Jews at the school, which they said had been escalating since 2015...
...In the wake of the event, J.B. Brager, one of the history department’s instructors who teaches a Holocaust elective, posted several public Twitter messages about the event and the resulting upset—none of which acknowledged the feelings of Jewish students or parents, or even the history of the Holocaust and the effects of trauma on its victims. Instead, Brager chose to use the moment to assert her support for the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement. “I refuse to ‘reaffirm the value’ of ethno-nationalist settler colonialism,” Brager wrote. “I support BDS and Palestinian sovereignty and I have for my entire adult life.”
...Tablet also interviewed the parents of more than two dozen Jewish students, past and present—all of whom, regardless of wealth or status, said that they were too frightened to be quoted by name. All said they specifically feared that public disclosure of their discomfort would cause retaliation by administrators and faculty—who they needed to write recommendations for their children’s college applications or transfer applications to other private high schools. The situation at Fieldston could be worse, they told me, though that perhaps depends on your perspective. “So far, no one’s throwing things at me and yelling ‘Dirty Jew,’ so it’s fine,” one parent wryly noted, in resignation. “But everyone else is going to leave.”
...In their purchase of a Fieldston education, parents aren’t buying an assurance that their children will be able to read Latin, apply basic principles of physics, or score a standard deviation or two higher than the norm on calculus tests. In exchange for the financial support and volunteer board hours, what Fieldston and other New York private schools are rewarding their patrons with is safe passage to the American elite.
...For many of Fieldston’s Jewish families, several told me, what distinguishes the problem at their school can be traced to the recently implemented Affinity Group program. Rolled out in 2015 as a new mandatory part of the curriculum, the Affinity groups asked parents of students in the third, fourth, and fifth grades to tell their children that they would need to select a group to join based on how that student defined their own identity. Over the course of the spring semester, parents were told, students would be segregated into groups based on a single selection from a set of options: African American or Black; Asian or Pacific Islander; Latino; Multiracial; White; or “Not Sure,” which consisted of “a cross-racial dialogue group” designed to make “your child feel more comfortable.”
...At the time, several families asked the school to add a Jewish affinity group; they acknowledged that no other religious group was offered, but argued that Jewishness should also be seen as a marker of ethnic and minority identity—not least because it has been for centuries by Jewish oppressors. According to several parents, they were politely but firmly told that no such group would be forthcoming. “Many parents were aghast,” one parent with multiple children at Fieldston told me.
...As certain teachers remodeled their courses, Jewish students found that their concerns about anti-Semitism were met by fellow classmates who plainly suggested that, first, they should be considered white and privileged—and that second, as such, they could not be considered victims of discrimination.
It was a two-step that shocked and frightened certain Jewish parents—first erasing what they understood to be the history of Jewish exclusion, isolation and murder, while simultaneously confining Jews to the category of history’s not-good people.
...For Jewish parents, the result of these changes isn’t simply the sense of injustice at the prospect of their children becoming targets for social exclusion, bullying, and officially-sanctioned condemnation for holding or expressing normative in-group beliefs —like a belief in the uniqueness of the Holocaust, or that the State of Israel isn’t effusively evil. The lit match here was that “Jews” were nowhere to be found on the roster of oppressed groups.
It’s an absence that is quite deliberate, and yet, because many Jews don’t seem to quite get that, it results in furious and often unintentionally hilariously medieval-seeming debates, both within Jewish communities, and between Jews and “woke” believers about whether Jews with white skin or dark skin are in fact “white,” what degree of victim-privilege Jewish “whiteness” or non-“whiteness” should properly confer, how much possible Sephardic or Mizrahi blood can one reasonably lay claim to in order to join the good team, and so on.
During that same academic year, swastikas began appearing in Fieldston halls and classrooms. In what would become a recurring theme for some Jewish families, parents told me that they were taken aback when school leadership responded to the initial appearance of the swastikas with a presentation for students that foregrounded “the ancient history of the symbol,” as one parent who saw the presentation told me. There appeared to be no significant scrutiny of what the symbol meant after it had become the Nazi emblem, and there appeared to be no mention of its relation to the slaughter of millions of Jews, the parent said.
Facing an uproar over the presentation and the lack of any strong, community-wide condemnation of the incidents, the school sent out a second letter, shared with Tablet, that identified the swastika “as a hateful symbol of the Nazi genocide, the Holocaust, anti-Semitism, fascism, and the destruction of European Jewry and other victims of the Nazi regime.”
...Of course the problem then got worse. Toward the end of the 2017 spring semester, George Burns, who for almost two decades had been the principal of the grade school’s younger division and who had been an advocate of the Affinity Group program, abruptly left. His departure was as much of a surprise as the rumored reason behind it.
According to a report in the New York Times, Burns was discussing parent pushback to the Affinity Groups with the recently hired head of the school, Jessica Bagby, who allegedly then told him who she thought the program’s critics were: “It’s the Zionists—the Jews.” Burns later filed a report to the school’s human resources department; shortly after, Burns announced his retirement. “Mr. Burns had worked there for 18 years and had given no indication that he planned to retire,” the Times report said. “Almost no one believed that his departure was entirely voluntary.”
In an interview with the Times, Bagby disputed the account. “I said to him at the time, ʻWe have a problem in that some members of our community who identify themselves as Jewish, and some who even might identify themselves—self-identify—as Zionists, do not feel embraced by this program.’”
For some Jewish parents, it was a distinction without much difference. Bagby’s remarks had a perhaps unintentional but palpable edge. Since no one in the progressive cultural sphere has used the word “Zionist” as anything other than a curseword for at least a decade, her remarks implied to them that parents “who even might identify—self-identify—as Zionists” had themselves to blame for not being embraced by a program that would not and should not, in fact, embrace them.
Whatever the proper interpretation of Bagby’s remarks might be, the willingness of her school to take anti-Semitism seriously was about to be tested by national tragedy. On Oct. 27, 2018, 11 Jews were murdered during a religious service at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh. The night of the attack, the school sent out a note expressing sympathy for the victims, and horror at the attack.
But later that week, the school sent out another letter, shared with Tablet, which declared the committee’s dismay at the slayings while highlighting the positive reaction by the Muslim community of Pittsburgh—as though anti-Semitism was somehow a narrow detail in relations between Jews and Muslims. “[We are] heartsick for the state of our national dialogue and concerned for the safety of the vulnerable among us. We are also heartened by the clear voices of empathy across the spectrum of political views and overflowing acts of kindness, such as the pledge by the Muslim community of Pittsburgh to protect synagogues,” they wrote.
The letter then went on to explain that the theme of the year’s multicultural programming would be “Intersectionality,” with the first event a community day where guest speakers will explain “what Intersectionality means to them and what effect it has on their lives as they work toward equity and social justice.” The committee signed off by highlighting the Multicultural Committee’s recent progress, including a mention of the various faculty who over the summer participated in “anti-bias training for white educators.”
According to several Jewish parents who read the letter, they were stunned by the absence of the word “anti-Semitism”—the specific hatred against Jews that was the defining characteristic of the mass shooting.
“There was no mention of the murder of Jews,” one parent told me. “It talked about how the Muslim community really helped the Jewish community in a time of crisis. And you know, that’s great they did. I think that’s beautiful they helped. But what’s the point of including that in a letter that should be about a horrendous act of anti-Semitism?”
The school’s disparate tone was made all the more stark several days later, when after a gunman killed one and left three injured in a shooting at a synagogue in Poway, California, near San Diego, Fieldston distributed a community-wide letter that did not identify the victims as Jewish but instead as “Passover worshippers”—and which then contextualized the shooting among other recent events. “Hatred and religious violence across our globe at houses of worship since the 2015 murder of congregants at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina, should be unimaginable. Nevertheless, in just the last three months, since the horrific mass shootings at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, this once unfathomable crime seems unrelenting in our news cycle.”
Though this letter mentioned the word “anti-Semitism,” according to multiple parents Bagby’s contextualizing of the anti-Semitic shooting with hate crimes against other religious denominations...was one further example of the school’s apparent aversion to explicitly singling out violence or hatred against Jews as worthy of specific concern or condemnation.
...Several Jewish parents said that this emerging herd mentality had other more direct repercussions: While some of the school’s administrators and faculty have expressed solidarity with Jewish families in private, there’s a fear, according to multiple employees, that any public activism on behalf of the Jewish families will lead to that member of the staff becoming ostracized by their colleagues. This is particularly important because, unlike nearly every other elite private school in New York City, the faculty at Fieldston are unionized—which endows them with a power their colleagues at other schools lack in disputes with the board or the administration.
...By Monday, the leadership of the school was anxious to quell the growing unrest, a person familiar with the leadership’s decision making said, but lawyers cautioned school leaders that a revised statement being circulated was too critical of Kayum Ahmed directly and might ostensibly expose the school to libel charges, according to this person. Some involved in the discussion of the response felt the risk was justified by the necessity to reaffirm an unequivocal position against anti-Semitism, particularly in light of other recent incidents at the school—but that position, according to a person familiar with the drafting process, was not universally endorsed by all parties involved in finalizing the statement. There was enough dissent among the board and administration about how to properly respond that some proposed waiting for after the Thanksgiving break to publicly acknowledge the incident...
Following the wide dissemination of the video clip, concerned parents now reached out directly to the school wondering about the circumstances that led to Ahmed’s presentation. On Wednesday morning, Bagby signed off on a final letter that was sent to the Fieldston community at large. “We are taking the opportunity brought by this incident not to discuss this particular speaker or his words, but to reaffirm our institution’s firmly held values,” she declared. “We will not accept Anti-Semitism. We will not accept racism. We will not accept sexism. We will not accept homophobia. We will not accept transphobia. We will not accept xenophobia. We will not accept hatred in all its ugly shapes and forms.”
Bagby’s response landed with a thud among Jewish parents, several of them told me. “That letter was worse than doing nothing,” one father explained, pointing out that school’s inability to single out anti-Semitism, coupled with the lack of any direct condemnation of the content of Ahmed’s remarks, reflected a lack of courage or willingness to stand up against this particular form of hatred. “It was simply a ‘fuck you,’ and entirely infuriating,” he said. Another parent I spoke with wearily acknowledged to herself that the school’s response was “the straw that broke the camel’s back,” and immediately began the process of finding another school for her children.
For these parents who’d themselves encountered incidents of anti-Semitism at Fieldston or watched their children endure such trials, there was a hope that if the school would only ramp up its educational offerings on the Holocaust or on anti-Semitic bias the campus experience of Jewish students would improve, several parents told me. There had been a time, they recalled, when the school held regular assemblies with Holocaust survivors, including a Holocaust Remembrance Day—which the school no longer includes in its annual calendar of events.
Yet, as some of these same parents recognized, Fieldston is a different place for Jews than it was before, perhaps because New York City is a different place. As one parent observed, Jewish education in New York happened every day for children who would encounter Holocaust survivors at the synagogue, at the kosher butcher’s, and at family birthday parties where explanations would accompany the tattoos on guests’ forearms. At this point, the expectation that elite schools like Fieldston will wholeheartedly embrace Jewish students—let alone encourage the kind of Jewish self-awareness that students are not receiving in their home environments—seems, at best, misplaced. All of which is rather unfortunate—and not just for Jewish students and their parents...
----
I don’t agree with everything in this piece, especially with respect to the author’s “understanding” of intersectionality and white privilege. That being said, the underlying issue at Fieldston and the denial of antisemitism as an actual, real type of discrimination when Jews are being killed, beaten, and harassed for being Jews (regardless of whether we’re white or not) is something that bears acknowledgment.
