The question was ostensibly directed to all of them, but his gaze was fixed on Valentine, who hesitated an impossibly long time before answering.

  “Amatis?” he said finally, furrowing his brow as if he’d have to give the matter some serious thought.

  Stephen caught his breath, and in that moment, Robert almost thought it was possible that he needed Valentine’s approval—that despite proposing to Amatis, despite loving her so deeply and desperately that he nearly vibrated with emotion whenever she came near, despite writing her that abominable love song Robert had once found crumpled under his bed, Stephen would cast her aside if Valentine commanded it.

  In that moment, Robert almost thought it was possible that Valentine would command it, just to see what happened.

I know that Stephen had strict and apparently overprotective parents who imposed their opinions, but I don't understand why Stephen became so dependent on Valentine's opinion, especially when it comes to his personal life. What's wrong with this guy!?🤷

i hate Robert Lightwood. like i knew this was coming. i knew what happened between him and michael, I've read it before, but I forgot how selfish he was. they were parabatai and Michael trusted him enough to come out to him and he hurts him and says he's disgusting just to save himself and his image

I am very interested in their relationship, although most likely their friendship was very toxic. Did Luke even realize that Valentine had betrayed him before, even before he handed him the dagger and told him to kill himself? Valentine betrayed him when he framed him, he betrayed their friendship, their parabatai bond... And after that, Luke didn't hate him. And after that, it's Valentine who accuses Luke of betrayal! Ah, I want a story about them!

A little reminder: Luke realized he was in love with Jocelyn when Valentine started dating her. The curse of the parabatai "one woman for two"?
