Did I ever saw the MHA movies? No. Never bc I know it would be a BK fest (as if canon isn't one too)
But talking about Nine...
It makes me wonder how Nine would approach Izu ?
Bc shig in canon is this and ....I hate it for the simple fact he decided to be amicable to BK.
Hi @mikeellee 👋
I know you haven't watched the movies but nine and izuku have interacted and fought each other during the movie, while nor deep or meaningful conversations took place the movie does establish them to be enemies as izuku is against nine stealing kasumo's quirk.
Nine is very hostile towards everyone who isn't his team so unlike shigaraki there is no bias where he is amicable to one character and hostile towards another.
Due to this iam going to assume your question is: what if nine was in shigaraki tomura's position?
Nine in this scenario starts out with his team that is founded after he helps them and he already has the ideology that the strongest in society should rule while the weak should stay in their place.
By having nine attack the usj with just his small highly skilled team trying to take down the symbol of peace it adds a lot more meaning and symbolism as
1) it makes sense for society to underestimate their attack
2) it would intoeduce us to the main villain group and their real capabilites early on
3) we would get more time to flesh out and develop the found family bond of nine's team
It's during the usj arc that we get both nine's ideology introduced and that we see that same ideology being indirectly challenged by
1) who nine is trying to take down (all might)
2) Izuku midoriya himself
This is because nine is trying to destroy the own natural order he pleads and praises by taking down the strongest person in society. Nine is trying to destroy the already establishes hierarchy where all might is clearly more powerful therefore, making him a hypocrite. However, he could plead his case and use the argument that all might and his reign of peace is inevitably coming to an end so nine will take this opportunity fight and prove himself to be the strongest and bring about change to the system.
Izuku midoriya as well as many other characters like eri or nejire are interesting characters that end up contradicting the system and ideology that nine has in place. I mention izuku midoriya specifically because he is the only charactwr our of the others that I listed that is involved in the usj arc.
In the usj arc nine will figure out that izuku holds a powerful quirk which would cause him to develop mixed emotions. On one hand nine would be intimidated by izuku as he has the ability to take over as the strongest and choose to uphold the status quo which nine wants to annihilate and change into what he label's the natural order of things. However, on the other hand nine would also relate to izuku as both of their quirks have horrible consequences in their body and would feel a sense of hatred as he sees another person discarded by society because his quirk is too strong.
Due to these feelings nine chooses to investigate the case of izuku midoriya further and choose to recruit him onto the team as a means of disabling the threat and also gaining a power tank on his side.
This feeling and motivation is reinforced by the sports festival arc where nine is introduced to both izuku and todoroki. However, another person also enters nine's field of vision: katsuki bakugo. Nine feels like he could manipulated bakugo to fit a narrative and mold that he wants him to fit and exploit him to show society that the strongest are being oppressed by the weak. This is a mistake that nine makes and he learns that this is a grave mistake through the consequences he receives (the kamino arc) and the new information he gathers during the kamino arc.
Through research and the kamino arc (where izuku and bakugo are kidnapped) nine finds out that izuku was quirkless. This would be an interesting development as izuku was and may still be someone who nine thinks should be at the bottom of the cycle but also izuku is too similar to nine. This discovery would send nine spiralling what does this mean for him? His ideals? His plan? People will suffer, people have suffered and people are suffering. Nine's plan wouldn't change a thing but would just make one group of people suffer less than another group of people.
Nine would have to go back to the drawing board and his interactions with izuku become more frequent trying to understand izuku and izuku trying to understand him. They fight, they argue, they talk and all of that to reach a middle point. What should be done with society? It's flawed, they have managed to acknowledge that but upholding the status quo would do no improvement and changing it to have it be a cruel cycle of the strong abusing their power would also be a horrible thing.
With all of this occurring one thing that brings nine and izuku closer to one another is the overhaul arc, specifically one character Eri.
Eri infulences them to meet a middle ground one where society isn't determined by power of quirks but a society where everyone has potential and is taken care of. No people aren't born equal but a sample of equity can be achieved if they try hard enough.
Izuku meets more people who got exploited by their quirks and so does nine. Nejire is a good example of a character being bullied because of her quirk and she is a direct foil to izuku midoriya which makes her more interesting

a list of crimes bk moon has committed against me personally with the sequel in no particular order but you will Know which ones i feel more strongly about anyway:
javier smiling to himself and getting all nostalgic as he watches rakiel because he reminds him so very much of lloyd
like seriously this man cannot stop comparing the two of them and getting quietly happy because it brings back fond memories it is heartbreaking he literally has to remind himself to not get swept in sentimentality several times every time he talks with rakiel
and as if that wasn't enough damian and rakiel remind him so much of himself and lloyd that he ends up offering to help them without even thinking about it. like. he feels so identified with them, remembering how hard it had been for him and lloyd to go through that whole ordeal on their own that he just. tells them they have his support before he even realized what he's doing. he wasn't planning on doing that. good work on not getting sentimental babe.
when lloyd and javier are on a call planning how to defeat the demon king, despite the awful circumstances javier can't help but smile and then laugh at himself because no matter how terrible the situation is he still finds it enjoyable to prepare for something with lloyd like they used to do. "it was a feeling similar to a distant longing. or a joy that felt like going back to the past"
javier is pining so hard. like. it's insane.
AND HE JUST KEEPS SMILING SOFTLY WHENEVER HE GETS CONFIRMATION THAT LLOYD STILL HASN'T CHANGED HE'S STILL THE SAME PERSON JAVIER SPENT HIS LIFE WITH SOMEONE SEDATE ME
anyway
lloyd asking rakiel about javier. asking how he's doing. acting all nonchalant about it even kind of annoyed. and then once he's alone. sighing and then smiling faintly. "like the smile he used to smile at someone"
"'so you're doing well? i'm glad' a feeling that blooms for a moment. a memory that's suddenly missed."
i am. going to fucking explode.
and then. there's their actual face-to-face conversation. which. oh my god. i don't even know what to start with.
javier always saying "it's been a while lloyd-nim" no matter how long it has been since they last talked?? because any time at all is too long???
lloyd saying that if anyone hears him say that they'll think they're gyeonwoo and jiknyeo. y'know. the mythical forbidden lovers that live in different realms and can only meet when the stars align so to speak.
y'know. just casually comparing your protagonists to one of the most romantic and tragic couples in mythology. no biggie.
and again. javier smiling when he sees that lloyd is still just the way he was when they were together. hello. hi. can i help you.
lloyd knowing exactly how long it's been since they saw each other in person. down to the very day. "107 years, 7 months and 17 days".
javier getting really, really, really happy about it. about lloyd still being the same. and thinking that, maybe, lloyd feels the same way deep down.
lloyd being so very, very casual about saying "it's been a while so i'm glad to see you" very specifically calling back to the very thing javier says to him whenever they talk.
and then. and then javier. thinking as he sees lloyd leave. that it was really nice to meet him after so long. and that the sight of him leaving still felt the same as it did before. and wondering if those gyeonwoo and jiknyeo lloyd mentioned before felt like this too.
javier. comparing what he feels at seeing lloyd leave. to what the cowherd and the weaver girl felt at separating again.
bk moon i am crawling on your ceiling
anyway if this novel doesn't end with the barriers between hell and heaven falling apart so lloyd and javier can spend the rest of eternity together instead of helplessly pinning over the other and reminiscing over the lifetime they already spent together i will throw someone off a bridge <3
#i talk a lot <3#tged#the greatest estate developer#tged spoilers#crown prince selling medicine#lloyd frontera#javier frontera#llojavi#this is. not even all of it. i skipped some of the smaller stuff but. god there's a lot of small stuff.#it's ridiculous#anyway i'm fine and normal and totally didn't get actual heart palpitations after binging all 80 chapters i hadn't read of the sequel#wasn't actually physically shaking as a i read all of this of course#bk moon pagame la terapia maldito#bad translation disclaimer maybe some day for some miracle we'll get an actual translation but for now bear with the choppy translation#and perhaps biased interpretation lol#crown prince sells medicine#cpsm

List of Things to Deal with at a Later Date:
Most of these are because I want to hear other people's ideas but I don't have the audience to do that, this only has 11 followers so not a lot to work with (thank you to those followers btw). The list is so I don't just forget, and the few people I do have can see what I want to talk about, and a general sense of what I want to do
1. Should Magne live, I feel she's an underrated character mostly because she was killed so early on, I would also love to have more than one woman in the League, plus present diversity would help with some of my goals
2 What to do about Mustard, that one villain from the summer camp arc and even more underutilized than Magne, he doesn't even get a legal name. As he's most likely 15 or younger he is the true youngest member of the League and I feel that is worth exploring. I'm thinking I'd like him to be rescued at some point, maybe after the Paranormal Liberation Front is made. Possibly use em to explore corruption in hero society
3 Hawk's should he be a bootlicker, or should he properly join the League. As much as I like DabiHawks I don't want shipping to be the focus as that does tend to take over, it's like an attention sinkhole, but Canon Hawks is a major disappointment and infuriating, so either he's betraying hero society or he's burning with it
4 How to deal with Muscular and Moonfish. I don't like them personally, plus they were added by AFO who is going to be similar to President Coin in which they are only using Tomura (and by extension the League) and they do need to be taken out. But I do need to do something with them
5 Who are they going to kidnap? As I put in another post I have zero interest in having Bakugou (or Shoto or Midoriya) join the League. The Summer Camp Arc is also after Spy Natsuo properly joins the League, and I can't see him agreeing that Bakugou would be a good fit. I'm leaning towards Tokoyami
5.2 If I go with Tokoyami (or whoever) do I want them to join the League, after all they will have been chosen with better info and expectations, I like this idea but there's somewhat of a risk of them becoming an attention sinkhole, where it derails the main focus & plot
5.3 This one's more Tokoyami specific but if they do join how is this going to work with Hawks, the internships have already happened so there's already a connection. This also greatly affects whether and how Hawks joins the League for real or not
6 Eri, how the League handles her is very important, and also matters to what I do with Magne. She's another attention sinkhole not as much as the main three (bk, dk, tk), but one nonetheless. I think if I have Magne live, the League will have little to no awareness of her for the Yakuza arc, but I'm mainly leaning toward having the League aim to get her out of Overhaul's grasp. Largely because fuck that guy, but I also want them to feel for her.
7 Should Lady Nagant join the League. I want this to happen, but how is the big question, if she does, I don't want to just throw her in at the end
I will probably update this as things get decided or I need to add things on

Brother's Keeper AU:
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How did Caleb live so long? How can he still be here after 400 years?
A: Belos wanted him to stick around and so he made it happen. As for specifics: *shrugs* your guess is as good as mine! This is something I've preferred to leave up to the readers. I will simply confirm that he isn't hiding any goop powers or OP palisman-given magical abilities. He is, for all intents and purposes, a regular human who is somehow really, really old.
Q: If Caleb is still alive, where did Hunter come from?
A: The full story here hasn't been told yet, but you may notice Caleb is missing quite a few bones...
Q: Caleb's ears are pointed! Did Belos cut them??
A: Correct
Q: Does Caleb know about the Collector/the basilisks/Belos' plans?
A: Probably! He's been Belos' sounding board for 400 years. Access to things that could "further corrupt him" or provide him a tool for escape, however, are off limits, so there are many things, like the Collector, that he's heard about but never seen for himself.
Q: Where's Flapjack/Amity/Darius/etc?
A: This is basically a canon divergence. If you haven't seen a particular character, it's safe to assume for now that they're up to whatever they were doing in canon.
Q: I don't get it. Why is Caleb insane?
A: I suggest you reread the first few story posts, my friend! You have fallen for Belos' lies.
Q: Do you have a posting schedule? When will the next part come out?
A: There is no posting schedule. I draw (mostly but not always) traditionally in my free time, for the fun of telling a cool story, and some posts are longer than others. That means the timing of the next post depends on how long it is, how much time I have, and whether or not I'm at home with access to my scanner. Sometimes this means I post quickly. Sometimes it means you'll see me next month. Sorry about that.
Just know that if I know there's going to be an extended wait, especially one where I'm not actively working on the next drawing, I will make an announcement about it. If you haven't seen an update in a while but I also haven't said anything, it's almost definitely because I'm actively chipping away at a part of the story that's taking me longer.
Q: Why do some of the story posts have a letter after the number? Are these less important than the regular story posts? Can I skip them?
A: No, I Do Not Recommend skipping them! They are just as important as the others. They have a letter on the end because they were added later and I use letters as a way to avoid renumbering everything. If you see story posts labeled something like "3, 3A, 4", they are meant to be read the same as you would if they were "3, 4, 5".
Q: Can I make art/fic/cosplay of this au?
A: Knock yourself out! If you post it somewhere, please include credit, but otherwise I don't mind, and actually love seeing what you do with it! If it's NSFW though, please keep it in appropriate spaces with proper warnings.
Q: Wait there's fic/fanart?? Can I see?
A: If you look through the tag on my blog "BK fridge gallery" you can browse any content shared with me that I've reblogged. :) People are free not to share it with me too though, and there are some I don't reblog, especially if its gorey or suggestive, so you might be able to find a bit more elsewhere under the Brother's Keeper AU name if you look for it.
You may also notice I have a featured tag called "BK Soundtrack." That's for songs that people have suggested to go with the AU. You are welcome to browse or suggest songs of your own ;)
Q: :( I sent an ask but you didn't answer. Did you get it?
A: Probably, yes. Sometimes it takes me a few days to get to it. However, if it was theorizing about future plot points, I may actually be holding onto it with plans to answer at a more appropriate time. I like to keep many of my plans for the story close to the chest, so don't be surprised if your theory ask disappears only to show up many months later when the story has progressed to a point where I can give you a more in depth answer.
#Brother's Keeper AU#doodletext#putting this together for the repeat questions! Will add to the master post later.

How it ends
the ending of IZ is ,, a really odd topic
technically it has 4 endings, well, 4.5
1 : invader dib
no, it in no way was a planned ending ever, but i feel it deserves mentioning considering how prevalent it was
it originally started on TAIZS when the producer was interviewed, he went on to confirm there was a intention to steer the show towards IRK and talking about its “”existence””
(also istg there was a ask where he vaguely explains the plot as a joke but i can’t find it for the life of me)
there were multiple versions of it but there’s two that circulated the most
A: “this special would have allegedly followed Tenn’s kidnapping by the Meekrob, and an all-out war happening between the Meekrob and the Irkens, which would have ended with Zim (aided by Gaz) being victorious over Dib, The Resistys, and the Meekrob, and finally conquering Earth.” (fan wiki)
B: the focus of the show would slowly shift towards irk, dib would get more crazed trying to stop the empire, zim and gaz would team up (or date, depends on who you asked) and stop both dib and the empire. everyone else dies and zagf/r saves the rest of earth
2 : space smoothies
In a nicktoons magazine, IZ made its “””final””” return. in which it had its first comic iteration where zim successfully took over the earth, but just kinda gives up when he sees the merch of himself. dib complains and zim offers to just have a jolly ol’ time in space, them both leaving earth in disarray while just being buds
3 : dookie loop
The “”canon”” ending, basically zim traps dib and the rest of the universe in a timeloop due to not being able to finish a puzzle. blah blah blah i’ll rant about his reasoning for that in another post ANYWAYS,, he eventually finishes it and resigns to fixing the timeline, but the “fix timeline button” doesn’t work and the universe implodes, everyone dies.
4 : nothing is real
i haven’t fully pieced together the lore but this is what ive gathered
rk is god. kinda.
in their orginal universe, zim and dib are real people, dib has gone missing and zim conquered earth. the conditions are really bad till he finally gets the idea to just indoctrinate them all
rk uses the comics as a “coping mechanism” of sorts, avoiding what’s really going on by just reading the comics, it’s really the only think they can do anyways
here’s where my idea sort of splits
A : they continue reading the comics and recapping them all, imagining this fantastical world where life is just zim and dib fighting in middle school, each winning and losing occasionally. rk starts making their own comics and aus, getting more and more absorbed by the characters of zim and dib that anything other than them is incredibly distressing
they get so sucked into their own mind that at this point they feel as though they ARE the creator of these characters and comics. when the story in their mind gets too off track, when it’s getting to the point where it might end, they insert themselves into it and fix whatever issue there was
B : bk (brain kid) is god essentially, rk was originally from the universe as described before but was scooped up by bk at some point and put into the recap section of the comic universe, something similar to in issue 40. in the comic universe, IZ isn’t real, it’s just a comic. yet rk is still able to manipulate the story and interact with the characters, when the comic is finally coming to and end they step in and just start everything over again
oh yeah in both A n B what i mean by ‘the comic ending’ is that earth is burning and no one wins, both zim and dib are about to die
⬆️ sorry if none of this made sense 😭 i’m struggling to word it correctly + still theorizing
4.5 : timetravel
Probably the most simple one, zim conquers earth, dib dies by being stupid, zim gets killed by his younger self, the end. the only reason it’s “4.5” is due to it being specific to the timeline of that issue, as none of the other entries acknowledge it

How was the latest chapter in ymu?
OH BYO OH BOY OH BOY absolutely destroyed me!!!! made me lose my shit for about two whole days!!!! it was BAAAD. and its also THE most game changing thing to happen so far. gonna put what happens under the cut bc spoilers 😁😁
i just finished typing this oopsies i rambled about the entire comic
cw for a lot of things.
SO. lemme set the scene for you. you have 3 main characters: KK, BK and RK.
kk is the main protagonist. he is the 8th generation in a long line of heroes; the KK clan. he is utterly shit at being a hero and hes still so bubbly and silly and honestly kinda childish but i dig it hes aweaome. he also has some traumaaaa!!! bros dad kinda sucked (he was like. WAY too immature to be a father; worth noting that he's the 7th generation kk) and when his father didnt come back home from war his mom went out to figure out what happened to him and kickass. which left kk all alone for like around 10 years maybe more if im being honest. hes not okay <3333
bk, we know JACK SHIT about. hes the demon king/devil, whatever you prefer. he likes animals. he likes carrots. hes straightforward, blunt, and way too trusting and forgiving. but like people are scared of him cuz hes the fucking devil he just hasnt used his magic yet. it will be plot relevant im 99% sure. we know Nothing about his past. we know he was involved in the war against humans and demons when kk was a kid (which kk's dad fought in). and bk was essentially a refugee. he ran to the desert and some shit happens but its quite literally blurry we dont know whay happened. hes VERY overprotective of kk too!! like VERY over protective ykyk. so somethings going on with him.
RK. OH BOY, RK. rk is like severely fucking insane like genuinely he has so many fucking problems. he is surprisingly the one we know the most about considering how much of a mystery he was in the older chapters. he calls himself the alien and doesnt reveal his name. he flies. he has a box on his head all the time. he has a dead ghost girl hallucination thingy that he talks to ghat nobody else sees. he has a gun. hes amazing. dude has canonically committed quite a few attrocities like man. his first on screen murder was fucking BRUUUTAL. "see you in hell." GOD he makes me insane. anyways his past is SUPER fucked up; born with magic unlike anything his family has ever seen before, the king (his adoptive father) exploits it and uses it to kill captured demons. he also had this whole thing where he found kk's mom in jail, kept a photo of her and kk, and helped her escape which did end up killing her. and he forgot that. anyways dude has some fucked up shit happening and is severely gone in the head
worth mentioning that in season 2 the three find the one eyed village which is keeping a princess there. princess violet. ill talk about her a bit more later in the post. the one eyeds get fucking evaporated by a group of demons that are specifically out to get bk, and only a golden tree remains of the village. rk knows about this. kk doesnt know ANYTHING
so. this expansive lore stuff is revealed like throughout the comic in pieces. and it starts out funny and sillt and like slice of life comedy but it gets fucked up around season 3 where kk gets his sword fixed and it becomes alive. he then basically dies and goes to this world where he is fucking god. and his sword is there. and its imbued with the soul of this random ass guy qho we call the musician. and its fucky wucky. the guy who fixed the sword also had a buncha kids hidden behidn a wall and rk takes them each to their hometowns via magic portals whatever. this is also where we see rk fucking shoot said guy and go actually insane for like 15 minutes. ill show screenshots cuz what the fuck man. then season 4 where princess violet, a character from another kingdom whos sister (named princess L) killed herself during a fire in the kingdom (said sister is also rk's brother's fiancé no this is not confusing), goes through what is essentially a demon realm where she has to adhere to the rules of a demon her sister kept and find out which of her 6 sisters killed princess L. in the end its revealed that it was a suicide which is lovely :)
season 4.5 goes more into rk's past and rk's brother, rj. like. rj is the king of the kingdom, since rk's adoptive father passed away. hes a really cool guy but is DEFINITELY either marked by or an avatar of the lonely iykwim. he has like no loved ones around him he is alone man. he was also princess L's fiancé! i love him. anyways rk and rj reunite but then rk kinda hates the r kingdom so he leaves and also finally reveals to kk hes actually insane so :)
season 5 has like this tower which will be relevant i think cuz there was a teaser of kk's teacher entering it the end of season 6 season 1 and being shrowded by darkness. its not sinister at all trust me :). i dont remember this one well but it had to do with the best side character ever angel do i love you do
season 6 season 1. huge lore dump on rk's part. kk bk and rk find this tower that is stopped in time. two wizards live inside: oz, the moon wizard, and of, the sun wizard. they control the moon and the sun. they also are prophets, disciples of the first kk, and know a lot about what they shouldnt! including rk's forgotten past :) they task the gang to go to this portal and defeat the demon paimon lest it unleash chaos into this world. and they do!
along the way kk finds out about the one eyeds. he loses trust in bk, and rk has to give him a pep talk and it genuine is kinda sound actually the only w rk ever had
and they find the portal. they enter the realm. the demon there is named paimon, and is a fucjing bitch and was foreshadowed ALL THE COMIC. and are tasked with going through each a designated room. each room has a shit ton of clones of the characters. only the real one can go through the door at the end. kk goes through just fine, although he had a bit of conflict. bk made it through bc ofc its bk. and rk. oh. rk. his room is empty with scortch marks on the ground. and theres fog. its implied that he killed all of the rk's before proceeding. he goes through the door. as it turns out, the real rk already made it past the door, scratched up, from whay it seems. and what does the fake rk do??? he shoots the real one. in the heart. the real rk dies. just like fucjing that.
did i mention that rk cannot die?? hes tried killing himself. a lot. but each time he regens. the only places he hasnt tried are the heart and the head. so the fact that he was killed via the heart. ugh its so good its amazing from an analytical perspective i ranted about this before but its genuirnly amazing. the character thay is established as being hard to kill. killed at his own hands. it was his own hubris that failed him. raintime you bastard you are a fucjing genius how did you write such an amazing comic
oopsies that was not meant to be the entire comic :) also i need to mention that these guys look like this
blue haired ones kk, black haired ones bk, blonde bitch is rk

October Finds, Pt. 1: Music, Books, Comics, Graphic Novels
As we are getting closer to the holiday season, I thought it might be nice to share links to cartoon merchandise I've seen floating around. I use a lot of the websites listed for gift-giving inspiration or to fill up any wishlists that friends and family ask me for. I've tried to keep most things on this list under $50, and most items are on clearance or discounted heavily.
Please support your local record shops, book stores, and comics stores! It's likely they can ship in some of the items on this list for you instead of you ordering them online. I'm putting this list together for those who may not have access to those resources, or who might be looking for a very specific thing that is out of stock in retail spaces.
You can find Pt. 2 of the list here, where I share links to plushies, clothing, accessories, dinnerware, prints and more.
NOTE: I am not affiliated with any of the stores linked under the read more. I'm just someone who watches a lot of TV and reads a lot of books and likes to celebrate that by buying merch every now and then.

Hey! Is there like a specific schedule of the bks chapters being released (like every other day or something like that) or is it just whenever you finish. Also loving the fic keep up the good work!
thank you!!
i’ve thought about setting a schedule, especially cause bks will eventually end and i’ll start another fic and it would probably help to know when i’m posting but I typically just release them when they’re finished!!
it normally takes like 2-3 days for me to write a chapter between work and other stuff and then i spend a few hours editing it and I usually just post them the moment they’re done!! :D

It’s become obvious to me after writing on the topic of beauty here on SAACA for a while now, that you ladies are WAY more open-minded about trying new things when it comes to your beauty routine than the over 40, 50, 60+ crowd gets credit for! Traditional “RULES” for what mature women should and should not wear on their faces, is a rather dated idea to me. We all have different opinions as to what is more “flattering” for ourselves personally, but those ideas should never be projected onto others. As a makeup artist for over 20+ years, I am always trying to push the boundaries with my older clients and allow them the opportunity to give something new a try with their makeup, even if they have previously been told by society NOT to try. Yes, You Can Wear a Smokey Eye! A smokey eye is definitely a controversial one with us as a category. I’ve heard all the excuses, “I love how it looks on other women, BUT I could never pull it off,” “it will emphasize my crow’s feet,” “my hooded lids won’t allow it,” “it’s too hard to create,” etc etc. Every single time I pull out a smokey eye on myself, my husband tells me how much he loves it. And when I can convince an over-40+ client to sport one if I’m doing her makeup for a wedding or black-tie event, they’re always pleasantly surprised by how sexy and empowering this specific makeup look feels. It’s really all about being strategic with the rest of your makeup, and even your outfit, that helps this look come together. And with Valentine’s Day just weeks away, it’s definitely the most romantic way to go with your makeup. I have an older tutorial, “Get The Look Of Love,” that showcases a more subtle brown smokey eye if you end up finding this one too intimidating! I like to give you options, you know?? Turn on your JavaScript to view content How to Create Jennifer’s Smokey Eye Here’s exactly how you too can get my signature charcoal smokey eye look, step by step. A few things to keep in mind before you start your smokey eye… Stick with no more than 3 shadows plus your liner to make your eyes pop. The simpler you keep it the better. It’ll be key to always keep the darkest point at/along your lash line. This ensures you’re drawing more attention to the eye than the eye makeup. Don’t ignore your eyebrows. They are the framework to this masterpiece you’re about to create. I’ve got a great brow tutorial at the beginning of this article I posted on Pro-Aging Makeup Tips That Actually Work. Blending with good brushes is a must. How well you blend your liner and shadow is what gives it that sultry vibe and keeps it from appearing too harsh. This BK Beauty 5 piece brush set for smaller + hooded eyes, $75, is a homerun if you need new brushes. Step 1: Prime + Line Your Eyelids Skipping the eyelid primer is a no-no. These dark shades are sure to travel far beyond your eyelids, unless you use this product. Apply the primer with your finger over the entirety of the lid. *if you don’t own an eyelid primer, you can substitute your concealer for it* Instead of a traditional skinny eyeliner pencil, I chose an eyeshadow stick in black, that blends seamlessly like an eyeshadow but that you can easily line with also. And you don’t have to be perfect here, as you can tell by my photo where it looks kinda messy – trust the process! I lined along the upper lash line, and tightlined the underneath of the upper lash line, then lined the lower inner waterline with the back. If you have hooded lids, at least do the inner lower line and tightline the upper. Step 2: Smoke it Out Now that your eyes are completely lined, time to add the smoke show! I chose three shades of shadow as I mentioned at the beginning, and all in matte finishes. First I chose a shade of gray from my go-to smokey palette and dusted it over my black liner on top and bottom, and took it a bit above the natural fold of my crease. Really focus on blending out that black liner with your shadow so there are no harsh lines left. I then pull my second shade of shadow, a lighter warm brown, to add just to the outer corners of my crease to help ground this gray and give dimension. My third and last shade is a matte ivory that I stroke along my brow bone to heighten this area. Lastly, lift those lashes with a lash curler – especially if you have hooded lids, that is the best way to open up those eyes with minimal effort. Then add on two coats of black mascara on top lashes and one coat on bottom lashes, for major oomph! Products Used ColourPop Stone Cold Fox eyeshadow palette, $36. (this is a staple palette in my makeup collection, and so versatile if you’re looking for fab neutrals in mattes and shimmers. Incredible price point for the quality too) Shiseido Lash Curler, $27 It Cosmetics SuperHero Elastic Stretch + volumizing mascara, $28 (this mascara is only for those that want bold, fat lashes!) Turn on your JavaScript to view content Step 3: Conceal + Blur Clean up any mess you’ve made of this smokey eye with a qtip and makeup remover. Then add in your concealer under the eyes to brighten. I had my foundation applied ahead of time, so after the concealer is applied, I like to run a blend of the powders from the Hourglass Ambient Lighting palette, under my eyes and on top of cheekbones to blur the skin. This stuff is pure MAGIC. I used these blurring powders as I would have a traditional setting powder. Step 4: Finishing Touches Time for cheeks and lips, and the key is to keep these areas more sheer, so that they don’t fight with the star of the show – the smokey eyes! For my lips, I outlined them first in a super soft nude lip liner applied, then topped it off with a soft pink beige shiny lip gloss. Then added a cream highlighter that had a hint of warm pink, in place of a traditional blush. Allowing some shine into these two areas was a great balance to the all matte smokey eye. Turn on your JavaScript to view content The Rest of My Look Details A crisp white button-down is the perfect backdrop to this look. The balance of sultry makeup + classic style is always a winning combo. I like a more roomy one that I tie at the waist like this Gap Factory poplin one, $25, or if you prefer a more tailored version to tuck in, this Tuckernuck Essentials shirt, $118, is a great option. Multiple gold or silver layered necklaces are a vibe added to a white button-down. Great layered options gold here on Revolve, $85, large silver chained here, $69, and layered pearl choker, $128. And who wouldn’t want to wear a gold money coin necklace, $120 // the elongated hoop earring shape is my favorite lately, $13. // Giving my nails a break from my fave press-ons, so I painted them this gorgeous sheer bridal pink shade by OPI in “Baby, Take A Vow,” $11. Last step, OWN this bold and sultry look and wear it with confidence. Now I have to know, who is going to give this a shot?? Also, before I forget – I received SO many wonderfully sweet messages on my first post of the year here, that it made my week to be able to respond to you all, and I just want to say a heartfelt “Thank YOU!” Please keep the comments coming – it’s my favorite part! The only reason people say Lloyd was maltreated is because OG Lloyd suffers from “Draco in Leather Pants”, where a character with major negative flaws has those flaws massively downplayed. Along with any evil actions or rude behaviour they committed ignored or retroactively justified as them being the actions of a “victim” who is lashing out, despite all evidence to the contrary. This mostly done so that the fandom can have a new “Woobie”, a character who makes you feel extremely sorry for them, to write angst about
On the other hand, Arcos suffers from “Ron the Death Eater” syndrome. Where fandom decides to take a good character who committed a few mistakes in the past, exaggerating that characters’s small negative flaws or mistakes to massive proportions. Or even assigning evil acts to the character that the character never committed. This way people can have convenient antagonist who hurt the “Woobie” in the past or continues to do so, thus making the “Woobie” the victim in the scenario.
These are all symptoms of people wanting to make more “Whump” fanfic. Whump fanfic is fanfic where a character undergoes various different forms physical and mental suffering. These insubstantial takes on the characters in order to create “Whump” completely ignore other avenues rife with potential “Whump”, ones that are even supported by the source material.
Such as Kim Suho constant struggles with the fact that even though he now has the life he always wanted, being free from debt, in a safe financial positions, and being surrounded by a loving family, he has to contend with the fact they aren’t’t his. He has to handle the guilt he feels when interacting with Arcos and Marbella due to the belief that they don’t know that he not there son. That he effectively stolen another person’s life, though through no fault of his own, and has now undeservedly gained that person’s parents.
Then there is Julian, who suffered plenty of abuse from his brother over the years growing up, both vocal and physical. As evidenced by the scar on his forehead that was caused by glass from a beer bottle his brother threw at him. There is also the physical and vocal abuse he suffered from other nobles at the academy before Kim Suho showed up and set everyone straight. Yet not nearly as many people seem to be interested in delving to how being on the receiving end of that kind of abuse for years would affect him
In short,
Reader: “I want Whump”
Actual Story: “We have Whump at home”
love the use of tropes in this ask, you're speaking my language now
and yeah, you're right, i just,,, i find it confusing. ofc everyone is allowed to do whatever they want, canon is a suggestion and all of that but like,, i don't know. i find it weird.
it almost feels like they're trying to justify og lloyd's abuse of julian by accusing arcos of bad parenting. but 1) they do it by exaggerating some genuine mistakes he made, 2) ignoring the context surrounding the situation and 3) just fucking lying about it????
not to mention, that even if arcos had been a genuinely bad father (which he was not), that would still not justify what og lloyd did to julian! negligence doesn't justify abuse! even if the fronteras hadn't given lloyd enough positive attention (which there isn't any evidence to assume this), that would still not justify og lloyd lashing out and constantly hurting the people around him, including his younger brother.
if people want whump, just like you said, there's plenty in canon already. lloyd, julian, and javier all have their own trauma to work through, some of it caused by og lloyd himself. heck if you want that very specific 'negligent and distant father' flavor of whump, sheherazade is right there. bk moon does a great job at giving us plenty of character with a lot of baggage and trauma, there's enough to pick and choose without needing to resort to headcanons that go directly against canon lmao
but again, i'm not fond of the whole 'you're only allowed to like a character while acknowledging every bad thing they've ever done' thing, because it's bullshit and also i love me some war criminals here and there, so do whatever you want forever i'm no one to say you can't do something lol

Incredible price point for the quality too) Shiseido Lash Curler, $27 It Cosmetics SuperHero Elastic Stretch + volumizing mascara, $28 (this mascara is only for those that want bold, fat lashes!) I had my foundation applied ahead of time, so after the concealer is applied, I like to run a blend of the powders from the Hourglass Ambient Lighting palette, under my eyes and on top of cheekbones to blur the skin.
