so much happened in this whole episode but i’m still on fig infiltrating ruben’s dream, making it look like the place where his friend was murdered, and then disguising herself as kipperlilly & repeatedly saying different variants of “somebody needs to take the fall for this, and it’s not going to be me. it’s going to be you.” while adaine as the elven oracle shows up next to her. can you imagine waking up from that, the idea of a horrible truth being pinned on you by your friend to save her own skin while the personification of fate and destiny stands there, almost as a promise that this is GOING to happen to you. we don’t even know if this kid is guilty. my god.
#fantasy high#dimension 20#fhjy#fhjy spoilers#fantasy high junior year#fig faeth#ruben hopclap#lucy frostblade#the rat grinders#adaine abernant#kipperlilly copperkettle#watching fig terrorize him like girl!!! we don’t even know if he’s guilty!!!!#this might just be for me but i do not think 5 teenagers willingly brutally killed their friend idk#like there just has to be some other element to it and i am very scared to find out what that was#what if they were put in a position where they felt there was/there was no other choice… like oh my god#my comedy brain is having fun but my ‘this is a teenager’ brain is in such deep distress all the time this season#the rat grinders i trust brennan to not make u cartoonishly evil so i am holding u as gently as i can in my confused shaky hands#also with the devil’s nectar i’ve been wondering why they all seem so well-adjusted & now i’m curious if they’ve been intentionally-#changing their memories in a way so that either the trauma is lesser or they think they aren’t guilty. idk#but it seems like from how gertie was talking she was making it more recently so the well adjustedness from early jy doesn’t quite add up#they could have another source maybe??? idk i’m just low stakes 4 a.m. spitballing here#there’s also the strong possibility that they’re aware of what happened but they weren’t the ones who killed lucy. idk who knows#the way you could probably devil’s nectar yourself into believing it wasn’t your fault someone died… CRAZY IMPLICATIONS!!! CRAZY IDEA!!!#anyways the bad kids & the rat grinders don’t ever have to like each other but i do wonder if at least some of those kids deserve a chance

Ik im like head in charge of bitching and moaning when it comes to Hiro mashima but one thing I will always appreciate is how he names his characters. A lot of anime, even stuff that's set in fantastical locations, tends to stick to Japanese names which makes sense but I fr love the diversity of culture in the fairy tail characters names it really does help to make Fiore feel like a different world but still adjacent to our earth. I never realized how much that would add until I watch other shows and realize that even though they aren't supposed to be set in Japan I still am kinda surprised that it isn't because all of the characters have Japanese names.
In fairy tail the location is a kind of earth adjacent alternate reality where people have magic. It really feels like a modern day fairy tale, the speaking, clothing, and style feel more modern while the technology is all much farther behind because in this universe magic is used instead. It's a fantastical world but still one rooted in reality. the names all being so diverse in origin but still many being names somone could reasonably have in the real world rather than just made up words makes that idea stick so much more then you might think at first.

I don't know if Izzy was ever the 'brings the captain a plate of food and some coffee and water because he's been at the helm for nine straight hours' type. But I think he THINKS he's that type.
It's just that somewhere along the line (or possibly the whole time) bringing Blackbeard a sandwich so he doesn't pass out at the wheel turned into yelling about how "BLACKBEARD DOESN'T NEED TO EAT."
It's like the evil version of being protective of your captain.
Now I'm sad that Ed may not have had anyone to do the "did you eat?" "yes, did YOU eat?" "Yes" "OKAY" check in with on the QAR :(

'I flirted with the idea that instead of being trans that I was just a cross-dresser (a quirk, I thought, that could be quietly folded into an otherwise average life) and that my dysphoria was sexual in nature, and sexual only. And if my feelings were only sexual, then, I wondered, perhaps I wasn’t actually trans.
I had read about a book called The Man Who Would Be Queen, by a Northwestern University professor who believed that transwomen who were attracted to women were really confused fetishists, they wanted to be women to satisfy an autogynephilia. And though I first read about this book in the context of its debunkment and disparagement, I thought about the electricity of slipping on those tights, zipping up those boots, and a stream of guilt followed. Maybe this professor was right, and maybe I was only a fetishist. Not trans, just a misguided boy.
About a year later, on the Internet, I come across a transwoman who added a unique message to the crowd refuting this professor. Oh, I wish I remember who this woman was, and I wish even more that I could do better than paraphrase her, but I remember her saying something like this: “Well, of course I feel sexy putting on women’s clothing and having a woman’s body. If you feel comfortable in your body for the first time, won’t that probably mean it’ll be the first time you feel comfortable, too, with delighting in your body as a sexual thing?”'
-Casey Plett, Consciousness
#this quote always moves me almost to tears when i remember it#i'm not a trans woman and i don't share the author's specific experiences with transition#but it really moves me that she frame transition as joyfully giving yourself permission to approach your body#not as something that has to be disciplined and deprived and made small in all these various ways#but as a means for experiencing pleasure and joy and delight and for insisting that our feelings and desires are worth#valuing and exploring and treasuring#i always used to think of prioritizing those things for myself as selfish and irresponsible#but who does it harm to want to experience pleasure in your own body?#it's such a beautifully simple and powerful switch to have flip in your head#and equally why are we forced to deny our own pleasure in transition and anything else related to our bodies in the name of moral rectitude#this is why i get so confused and pissed off when other trans people are fatphobic for example#like why are you so invested in politics of shame and disgust that never had any purpose other than#violently disciplining people as if they've violated moral codes by existing in a body#to say nothing of white people being racist in gay and trans communities#like again this system of violence is foundational to homophobia and transphobia#so why are you acting like it has nothing to do with you#even if you are unmoved by the urgency of other people's suffering which btw you should be moved by#what do you hope to gain by acting a collaborator and handmaiden to those systems#Casey Plett#she really is one of my favorite authors i wish more non-canadians read her#this quote is from a series of columns she did ont transition and every single one is a banger#i love when she talks about the people-pleasing elements of dysphoria and transition denial#she's so sharp about noting how many of us deny our own dysphoria on the grounds that others like and validate our bodies#that's how i always felt during my cis conventionally feminine era#it pleased other people so much and also that reception felt so hollow and joyless to me because i hated it#i get less of that positive feedback but that feels so unimportant next to the joy and pleasure i get to experience#said with the understanding that i'm very privileged in being able to prioritize those things without fear. but it was a switch flip#personal nonsense

SURPRISE!!!~
HahahahaHA PSYCH! Thanks to my wonderful family leaving the house so I could record the day before I left for vacation, I was able to record, find music and sound effects, and edit the whole of Part 23 before I left! 😁
This story has nearly come to its end- And my dudes- It has been one HECK OF A RIDE. 😊 This comic has really been pushing my limits in so many ways- both with recording difficult to say lines, acting out more gross situations, and pushing my vocal limits with the pain and emotion filling each incredible page. And it’s almost over- BUT ITS NOT DONE YET!!!!
All credit for the art and comic itself goes to @indieyuugure, while I lent my voice to do the dialogue and theme song in A Cappella. I also edited. Epidemic Sound covered the music. :)
To God be the glory!

I’m watching Voltron: Legendary Defender for the first time and here is what I have had to say per each season (this is 1-2) (3-4) (5-6) (7) (8)
Pre-Watch Knowledge
->big transformers type robot
->pretty alien girl that looks like princess yue from A:tLA
->they are the epitome of color-coded characters
->space??
->there was crazy people in the fanbase that sent cupcakes laced with something to the creators
->queer baiting (this one in particular got me)
->klance.
->^honestly I only knew that because people were comparing it to zukka and I wanted to check it out
->my friend really likes it
Post S1 thoughts-
->that cliffhanger was crazy imagine they weren’t renewed for a s2
-> i went on tumblr after and youre telling me they made that show IN TWO YEARS?? EIGHT SEASONS. IN TWO MF YEARS?? that is insane. props to the writers bro they fr must of known what they were doing.
->all of these characters already scream “doomed by the narrative”
->my fav characters are pidge and lance
->I definitely did NOT expect yue Allura to be British
->bonding moment.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
->^like yeah okay i get it now
-> the healing pods are a very interesting concept. Like, what if you get some ailment that it doesn’t recognize?? Do you just die??
-> genuinely felt so bad for Not Yue. Allura. Allura when they had to remove her father’s memory thing. Like yeah I know the castle was corrupted or wtv but bro imagine. Your entire race is dead. your mom, who you previously knew alive is now most likely dead. You already had to go through losing your father once, and now you have to lose him again. Any sliver of hope you had of staying connected with him is gone, because the entirety of his essence is now gone. She’s stronger than me, I would have never given him up so easily. I admire that about her.
->I also made the horrible mistake of going on ao3 after
yk for gits and shiggles… and when I go to a new fandom I always search by hits to see the classics first yk
WHY are you guys so 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓴𝔂… I genuinely shed a tear what. I was flabbergasted to say the least.
On that note the top 23 were about redguy/blueguy getting smoochy-smoochy with each other so I guess that should be a hint as to what you guys like
->the description of the show says the robot (voltron) is operated by “five teenagers” but that shiro guy has to be AT LEAST 25. He is pushing 30 you can’t convince me otherwise.
->for now it’s kinda giving atla except the war is intergalactic and lasted 10,000 years instead of 100.
->all the other characters seem to have a pretty clear background, but we haven’t yet heard about Keith’s backstory, so I want to know (I know now, this was my initial thought)
->shiros backstory/ptsd is very interesting, lots of angst possibilities i see
-> I had an inkling that pidge was…genderly different. (At first I thought she was transmasc)
Post S2
-> WHERE is my man. Where did he go.
Tumblr media
-> Pookie please come back. Now. It’s not a suggestion.
->KEITH BACKSTORY I PREDICTED THEY WERE GONNA SHOW US YAY I LOVE BEING RIGHT
-> he’s galra! Soooo much whump opportunity
-> the whole “Allura doesn’t hate you she’s just a little upset to find out ur part of the race that killed off her entire peoples and family and okay maybe she does hate you” scene with keith and hunk is really giving that scene in atla: the southern raiders where zuko thinks katara hates him and sokka reassures him (badly) while he was just trying to get laid w suki.
Tumblr media
->^ that’s gay
-> the aliens they met are going to be very important, aren’t they?
Tumblr media
->^ oohhh so this is where the “langst” stuff comes from? he’s just kinda insecure i think, but it can’t possibly just be this episode that has that tag so high, unless flanderization is just really popular with you guys, but already suspect that unfortunately
Tumblr media
->^Allura high key ate with this
->the “Blade of Marmora” people are definitely gonna be important later
-> the mall episode was soooo fun! fav s2 episode for sure!
Tumblr media
->^gay. It’s literally giving “two bros chillin in a hot tub. five feet apart cus they’re not gay”
-> I know of 2 ships now. klance and allurance. I only see the former though, the latter seems more like a running gag/unrequited crush thing (for now i suppose)
-> Coran is an icon. I love that whimsical man. he’s beekeeping age per say.
-> I need pidge to find her brother and father man I feel so bad for her PLEASE DOBT TELL ME THEYRE DEAD ILL LITERALLY DIE.
-> pidge is sooooo cool i love her so much she’s literally the pookiest of the pookies
-> Who tf is gonna be the black paladin now. Keith sure as hell isn’t ready for that. maybe Allura?? Cus yk she kinda already leads them a little bit
These are thoughts I had compiled over a while now. I am on S5E3 as of now (07/03/24) but I wanted to document my thoughts either way. I will post on the tag “laura’s first vld”

Honestly another one of those worldbuilding things unique to an alien robot race is I wonder how Cybertronians' long, nearly immortal (at least in the context of organic lifespans) lives would affect their views on punitive versus restorative justice?
Ignoring the inconsistencies for a moment (and the fact that this lore is almost never acknowledged), in IDW1 it's written that Cybertronians can live basically as long as their sparks keep burning PLUS it's apparently so hard to kill a Cybertronian for good that suicidal people have to go to specialized euthanasia clinics to be thoroughly executed. (This also helps explain how a war lasted 4 million years and didn't make them as a species go extinct.) So given their near immortality, it does kinda bring to mind some questions like
Is imprisoning someone for a certain number of years even a meaningful punishment for a species with life spans in the millions of years? Does it just mean that average prison sentences are somewhere in the tens or hundreds of thousands of years? In other words, do Cybertronians just do "human prison sentences, but to a Cybertronian scale" or would they even view a time based imprisonment/other punishment as meaningful at all?
Does the fact that Cybertronians are so hard to kill affect their views towards the death penalty? As an example, do they view their near immortality as something that would be cruel to end via execution because it deprives someone of possibly millions of years to reform? Or is the death penalty strongly supported BECAUSE their immortality makes them see ending someone's life as a fitting punishment for crimes?
What about how often crimes like murder happen? If it's really hard for Cybertronians to kill each other/themselves, then a lot of crimes would end merely as assaults and not murders, aka the people involved would all survive, aka restorative justice might be more necessary in this society when "coexisting with that guy who's attempted to kill you at least once" is a common scenario to have happen. And even if there is punitive justice, well, the guy just goes to prison for a few thousand years and comes out virtually unchanged bc he and you and everyone are basically immortal.
I know "the writers are human" and all, but sometimes it feels like worldbuilding around Cybertronian age ranges is really underutilized. Like, in pretty much every series except maybe IDW2 Cybertronians don't seem to differ on their views of time/lifespans compared to humans. Like the fact that the plots of many shows/comics (at least in certain series/seasons) take place in the space of weeks, months, or maybe a couple years is rarely commented on by these beings who live for millions of years, and it doesn't seem to affect their society much. Not even with a Tolkien ent-esque style of moving very slowly and pondering things deeply before moving. If anything Cybertronians tend to be very...reckless? Prone to fickleness of the heart and mind?

I want a spider X dcu but have Peter working at the league's base in space as a mechanic or a scientist, cause of course they will have the best material and information to help him make a way home. Except that Peter is weird.
Like, weird weird. Like, spider bite kind of weird with a hint of different culture from a different world kind of weird.
Listen most of his interactions with humans in their world is with them cause he's at the watchtower all the time, so his understanding of what is normal is a bit skew, and he probably also got used to acting more spidery, especially when in a lab or sm (courtesy of his time at the avenger tower where he doesn't really have to hide his spidery side)
Then you take into account him having a different kind of humour and a different set of memes and you have the whole justice league thinking he's secretly an alien

The last few updates of aurora have prompted everyone to theorize about Erin's Secret Backstory that Red won't tell us, so here are some of my horribly researched, very serious theories!
-He was adopted. Galen searched until he found a baby Elemental Magus, took him to the soulshaper monks, and they made baby erin look like he was Galen's kid.
-he killed someone. i don't know who, maybe a sibling, but it was probably when he was young and didn't have a whole lot of control over his powers. He badly injured them, and then Galen took them both to the soulshaper monks, who tried to help the injured one but failed, and put erin's sealing tattoos on. i have no evidence for this, which is a running theme in this post
