Set of 12 "Muppet Show" buttons produced in 1977 in the UK. They were also sold at the Muppet Stuff store in New York City. The manufacturer is unknown; the only marks on the buttons say, "HA! 1976-77"

To pray you open your whole self To sky, to earth, to sun, to moon To one whole voice that is you. And know there is more That you can’t see, can’t hear, Can’t know except in moments Steadily growing, and in languages That aren’t always sound but other Circles of motion.

Book 527
Dante’s Divine Comedy: Hell, Purgatory, Paradise
Dante Aligheri / illustrations by Gustave Doré / translation by Henry W. Longfellow / Anna Amari-Parker, ed.
Eagle Editions 2006
So, according to this blog, this is my third edition of the Divine Comedy. Honestly, I’m mildly surprised I don’t have more. The Moser is probably my overall favorite, but—let’s face it—where Dante interpreters are concerned it all kind of begins and ends with Doré. When it was originally published in 1867, Doré’s Dante was one of his most highly acclaimed works and one that the artist himself considered among his greatest works. However, despite the fact that he was undoubtedly one of the most famous artists in the world at that time, he had difficulty finding a publisher for Inferno. So Doré financed the first edition himself, and the result was an acclaimed and commercially successful first edition. After that, Hachette agreed to publish Purgatorio and Paradiso as a single volume. Through the years, Doré’s vision of the Commedia has become so intertwined with the work that it’s difficult to separate the two, and it sometimes becomes necessary to remind oneself that they were not both conceived by the same person.
