This Is A Gay Asian Rant About BL Comments Made By Some Queer Westerners I See Sometimes.

So you know of those gays (usually white) that made dumb tiktok dancing to list of countries that legalized same sex marriage and list of countries that discriminate against LGBTQIA+ poeple as a way to say something racist. yeah i kinda got the same vibes from some comments regard how asian BL is homophobic just cause they don't live up to queer western standard. look, i'm not saying that some BLs and their creators don't deserve criticism regard how they capitalized/exploited queerness for an easy cash grab.

But people need to understand that Asian countries despite recent progress are still very much culturally conservatives. so when people says that thai bl is homophobic and all the characters looks like bunch of straight guys, which is true for some olders thai BLs i'm not gonna denied that. but after all this time and newer BLs generally being very queer and most of creators being out queer themself and poeple still making these comments, i'm annoyed.

And don't get me start on the actors. you don't know them! why are you making assumption and calling them queerbaiter just cause they acts in bl. like maybe they're straight, maybe they're not but what they're definitely doing is making queer content for you know, queer people here. so when you made halfass comments about their sexuality what do you think that made other queer people who still in the closet feels. and when you add the nationality to that, "these thai bl pair are this and that, this korean actor is so ungrateful for his bl past", etc. when our societies are still very much still in progress regard LGBTQIA+ acceptance. it make us living here feels fucking awful like somehow we're lesser queer than people in the west just cause we don't have citibank at pride or some shit.

And the shittiest in my humbled opinion are comments regard censored chinese bls. people do know like, that the creators making these bls are risking their livelihoods for this. that these shows getting make at all are miracles. yes it sucked that they're censored but they're still very much queer shows making by queer people who want to express thier queerness despite the chinese government being the chinese government. when people dimissing these shows as not belonging in queer media, you're also dimissing their creators and audiences as not belonging in the community.

Look what i want to say is that we're trying our best over here, and maybe our best are not up to your liking. the ways we talk and express our queerness maybe still can be perceived as problematic by western queer standard. but these media are our house and you're the guests. for people aren't shitty we appreciated that you're here engaging and loving our media, this is your home too and you're welcome in it. i can speak for myself that i very much love being here on tumblr and interacting with people from all over the world who love BL. but for people who are being shitty sometimes about asian bl.

another Dragon Age fic was recently outed as being AI, and this is what the writer had to say for themselves about it:

so actually, Grammarly uses generative AI and is just as bad as ChatGPT. it also objectively makes your writing worse, it sucks the voice out of your prose and turns it into corporate sounding homogenized paste. it's also unethical for all the same reasons any generative AI is unethical. get a writing group and have a real human beta read for you if you don't trust yourself to check your own grammar etc. but honestly something unpolished and written entirely by your human brain and human imagination will ALWAYS be better than AI slop.

also, the part about published authors doing this is patently untrue. i know this is a huge problem in the self-publishing space, but most publishers now are including clauses in their contracts that expressly forbid the use of AI in ANY part of the creative process. this includes using ChatGPT to generate or clean up outlines or Grammarly to spellcheck and revise. so if you're trying to publish, don't fucking do this or you could literally be asked to return an advance if you get caught.

i've posted about this in the past, but AI detectors are actually shocking accurate these days. i've tested them extensively recently and they can consistently and correctly flag individual sentences written by ChatGPT in an otherwise original passage. and they almost never flag false positives. so the argument that AI detectors can't be trusted is just flat out wrong. are they correct 100% of the time? no. but can they indicate with a high degree of accuracy if AI was used in some capacity? absolutely, especially if there is additional evidence.

and for all the people hand wringing about AI detectors flagging false positives, let me just say this: if something is not AI written it is very easy to prove. you can't write anything of any considerable length without leaving a massive paper trail of notes and drafts. almost all writing software tracks changes and makes it very easy to prove you wrote something yourself. being falsely being accused of AI isn't actually a real problem and is only being made to seem as such by people who are trying to get away with and justify using AI or who are worried about getting caught.

i think a lot of people are just lured by a seemingly easy shortcut, and to their untrained eye, what the AI is spitting out feels "better" to them than their own writing. but i promise you it's not. trust your own brain and put in the work to improve at your craft rather than outsourcing the gift of your imagination to a robot that steals from other people's work.

Caged Again: The Best Gay Representation in Thai BL In a Long Ass Time.

Yes i said what i said. the penguin and panther turns human weird little fantasy show is doing right by the gays.

Nat and Ton played by real life soon to be legally married gay couple porsche and arm are so GAYYYYYY and not BL gay But GAY GAY. these two with their choice of pronouns they uses to calls each other, their demeanor, and words they uses radiated 2 old queens that has been loving each other for a long time.

That kitchen scene with its genuine earnesty of queer domestic life (which is not a surprising they're actually a real couple after all.) we had two queer animals turned kids whose lacking knowledge and understanding of human lives seeing and learning from two queer elders and seeing this is a life that they could have after years of longing to be humans feels very powerful and kind. and then this show reward/answer that scene with the queers kids first kiss. And by doing all that it make me feels like the show is telling a queer kid that might be watching this show that it's going be ok. and i found that to be very powerful and kind.

I've been fill with Feelling a lot lately cuase it is close to the month of marriage equality. and i'm very happy we got something like this counting down to that special month.

Oh one last thing, Porsch said "we were finding new place to outd..." before he got cut off by arm in the first scene where they met Junior and Sun. This Demonic Cultivator is relatively harmless. He might actually be more of a Hazzard to himself than anything. On the Evil Scale of Evil Deeds, Wei Jiu is probably a solid 3. And I'm being quite generous here. I don't think this man successfully completed one evil task. AND to add insult to injury, he's a complete dumbass who has difficulty reading the room.

The poor man just wants to join the Wester Sect but Mu Qing Ge went full on honesty on him probably because he claims to be handso.e and at this point in time, MQG only has eyes for Su Yi Shui.

But did she have to humiliate my poor Wei Jiu this badly? Practically wipes the floor with him.

So my poor boy went full speed on the Demonic route and never looked back.

But ... despite his best efforts ... Wei Jiu is pure of heart.

In terms of evil deeds? Lol ... Wei Jiu is constantly surprised at the evil techniques, evil powers, and extreme sacrifices others choose to make. Like here he's baffled that SYS would go to such extreme using his blood to fight.

Then here, he's surprised that SYS would use the Soul Control Technique.

When the fake Mu Qing Ge used the devourer bugs, my poor boy here is surprised again to find that someone would sink so low with such despicable technique!

Like my poor boy could not comprehend! Like in the literal sense. His 2 brain cells could not compute.

Surprised again? You betcha! Like he's supposed to be the 'bad guy' but so far he's only ever been SYS' personal punching bag.
