Some people in the fandom have the element of "independence" and Nya's phrase "I don't need anyone" SO attached to her as if any other trait contradicts her character.

Guys, Nya's vision is not OOC. That she shows concern for the whereabouts of her fiancé who she hasn't seen in years, and who could very well be dead or could have "moved on without her", is not out of character and even more so when her reaction to this is to instantly realize that it's fake, her fears always have to do with what is out of her control and this vision clearly emphasizes that.

Like, guys, do you really want "Nya is afraid of being normal / Nya is afraid of losing her powers 2.0"? Instead of showing us real vulnerability on Nya's part from irrational nightmares in which she ends up reacting with anger and denial? You want the character to remain static, and for her to have the same fears about herself as in season 11 when:

We've already seen that fear, so there's no point in presenting us with information we already know.

Nya ALREADY faced that fear. She sacrificed herself at the cost of losing her humanity, she returned and regained control of her powers. When you've been through something like this, it makes sense that your fears evolve.

I don't see anyone complaining about Lloyd's fears not being the same as those in s11 (and his fear also went from being something about himself to being afraid of disappointing someone else.) I'm sorry, but it doesn't make sense introduce a fear that won't make sense with the arc Nya will have this season with Jay's obvious amnesia. Nya showing vulnerability/concern for someone so important to her does not make her any less independent.

So, as Jon points out, it's odd that a letter written in 1845 America ended up in Jonah's private collection. The first time I read this statement I was hopping TMA was alluding to the fact that maybe the unnamed Mrs. Carlisle had somehow managed to survive mostly unscathed...but, unfortunately, that's likely not the case.

In fact, the very likely way the way this story ends is that: A: Mrs. Carlisle never managed to leave the cave and ended up eating her husband, becoming an Avatar of The Flesh. B: Mrs. Carlisle left the cave and then turned back, eating her husband and becoming an Avatar of The Flesh. Or C: Mrs. Carlisle's husband was able to walk away from the cave.

And I know what you're saying. "What on Earth brought you to THAT conclusion?" And I'll tell you! In TMA 18 "The Man Upstairs", we meet a name named Toby Carlisle, who, get this, has an apartment full of meat:

The horrifying conclusion here is that Toby is likely the descendent of one of The Carlisle's. Either Ben Carlisle who supposedly died in the cave, or the unnamed Mrs. Carlisle who was hopping to escape the cave.

If this true, it would likely mean that there's a whole descendent line of Flesh avatar's out there...which would make it make sense as to why Jonah has this statement. He would look for it. He would likely know that a statement about how a flesh avatar family got their start was out there, and as an Avatar of The Eye, it seems like he'd do his best to get his hands on it. So. It makes sense how it would would find his way into his possession.

This was a really dark post, but I think the connection is way to interesting not to point out, and it would explain why Jonah would go out of his way to get this statement. Still, I didn't love typing the sentence "ate her husband" twice, so take this headcanon as a palate cleanser: Tim has a folder of cute dog pictures on his phone and Martin sometimes sends him pictures to add to his collection.

Are there valid criticisms to be had with Mel Medarda? Yes, yes there are. Is the exaggeration and misinterpretation of her actions and her character valid in order to foster support for a ship? No, no it's not. Is the ignoring of her actions and motivations valid in order to foster support for her character? No, no it's not.

Say what you want but the truth is Mel Medarda did love Jayce Talis and he loved her back AND she manipulated him and groomed him to be her obedient political ally. Both things are equally true and canon, both things don't cancel each other out. Mel Medarda is no villain and she's no saint she's just a politician playing the game smartly to further her own goals. Arguably her biggest crime is being so damn convincing and subtle. This whole discourse around her is so stupidly confounding because you have both sides making the absolute worst arguments I've ever seen.
