The Chosen: Season 4 Episode 1 Recap
Mary and Elizabeth’s prophetic encounter in The Chosen
The Chosen Season 4 Episode 1 begins with Mary, who is pregnant, visiting her cousin Elizabeth, who is also pregnant, after receiving a word from the messenger. Mary’s voice from the door causes the baby to kick Elizabeth’s womb. Elizabeth brings Mary into her house and shares the story of the messenger’s meeting with Zecharia, who became mute due to his refusal to believe. Elizabeth names her newborn baby John to bring Israel closer to God and prepare the way for Mary’s son Jesus.
Salome’s dance rehearsal for King Herod’s birthday
Tumblr media
In the following scene, Herodias’ daughter Salome is forced to rehearse dancing for King Herod’s birthday. Herodias is King Herod’s second wife. The teacher ensures flawless execution of the dance movements and techniques. Despite learning her dance moves, her mother still insists on practicing to avoid mistakes and ensure perfection.
Big James and John help Zebedee with anointed oil delivery
Big James and John, often known as the “Brothers of Thunder,” assist their father Zebedee in delivering anointed oil to the high priest. While Thomas is eager to meet Ramah, they cross paths with Shula and Barnaby, who are also looking for Ramah, who has recently returned from Capernaum.
Joanna’s secret meeting and marital strain in The Chosen
In the following scene, Joanna (last seen in season 3 episode 1), a secret disciple of Jesus and John the Baptist, is caught by her husband Chuza (Herod’s manager) and accused of meeting John the Baptist. Their marriage is strained due to Chuza’s affair with Cassandra.
Simon Z and Judas discuss ministry priorities
The next scene features Simon Z and Judas washing clothes while Judas discusses the ministry. Judas believes that boring chores should be delegated to others, while disciples should prioritize spreading Jesus’ message. Judas criticizes Jesus for not accepting offerings, but Simon Z reassures him of his uniqueness. He makes use of the washing of clothes to explain a new way of thinking.
Zebedee’s successful contract victory with the High Priest
Zebedee, his sons, Little James, and Tamar visit the High Priest to investigate the oil, but Tamar is denied access. The high priest then inspects the oil. Zebedee’s support from Yussif and Jairus leads to their successful contract victory.
Joanna warns John the Baptist of his death in The Chosen
Joanna sneaks out to meet John the Baptist in jail, while Salome’s dancing instructor discusses progress with Herodias. Following this, Herodias describes the aim of the dance. If Herod is satisfied, he will provide Salome with everything she wishes. Herodias wants to punish John for disrespecting her. Joanna refuses to see John the Baptist and informs him that he will be killed. John, unconcerned, tells Joanna that the road of the Lord (Jesus) has been prepared.
Thomas and Ramah’s marriage plans
The following scene features Thomas and Ramah. Thomas asks Ramah if her father agreed. However, the father disagrees since he does not embrace Jesus’ beliefs. Ramah proposes that the groom (Thomas) present the bride with a valuable thing. Thomas picks John and Jesus as witnesses, and all they have to do is exchange vows. The two become quite excited.
John the Baptist’s execution and flashback in The Chosen
Joanna skips the celebration in Judea and rushes to Capernaum to alert the disciples about John’s fate. Salome charms King Herod with her performance, and Herod agrees to grant her wish. Herod is taken aback when Salome suggests beheading John the Baptist. As John is about to be killed, we get a flashback to the circumcision ritual. Elizabeth instructs the local Rabbi to name the infant John per the messenger. Zechariah acknowledges the messenger by speaking after consenting to the name and remaining silent.
In the present day, John learns he will be beheaded on a silver wedding plate. He chuckles since he has never attended a wedding, which confuses the guards. Before being beheaded, he notices a lamb outside the window and expresses gratitude to God. When the Rabbi who baptized John meets with Jesus, he discovers that John’s prophesy has been fulfilled. Jesus shreds his robe in grief for his cousin’s death.
Disciples gather and console each other in Capernaum
In the following scene of The Chosen, the disciples gather in Capernaum, where Thomas confesses his desire to marry Ramah. While the disciples celebrate, Matthew observes Joanna, who is looking for Andrew. Joanna weeps without saying a word, and Andrew understands.
The disciples console Andrew, as John tells how he came to prepare the way for Jesus. The story concludes with Jesus being shown with a tattered robe and ash on his head, indicating his awareness of the situation.

🧠🪱Wiggly Wednesday🪱🧠
No one tagged me, I just had a brain worm on account of the @softsteddieseptember prompt “cheesy pickup lines” for this week. But this isn’t really an entry, just an outline that I don’t have the brainpower for right now.
Steve is an actor who always gets what (who) he wants. He’s kind of been a fuckboy about it in the past, but his best friend and frequent co-star Robin is a good influence on him, helped him come to terms with and come out as bisexual and everything.
Eddie is a computer programmer with a part time job as a barista, and has what he definitely feels is the misfortune to make Steve’s ridiculously customized latte.
The latte isn’t foamy enough or something. Actually, it’s just that Steve has taken an interest and wants to get to know the cute barista, likes that Eddie doesn’t even recognize him from his movies at first.
Eddie says something about his computer programming work, and Steve laughs and calls him a nerd, which does not go over well.
Steve comes back most days whenever he’s in town, trying to salvage it, but Eddie is firmly convinced it’s unsalvageable, a nonstarter in the first place. No matter how disappointed he always feels on the days Steve doesn’t show, or how much he ends up telling Steve about his life in between rejections.
At some point Robin shows up at the cafe to let Eddie know she’s sorry he has to put up with her hopeless bff’s low-key stalking and that she’s trying to talk Steve into a long filming project in Europe to chill out, so he’ll soon be out of Eddie’s hair.
Something something, idk, maybe Steve talked about Eddie to Dustin, who works in computers or something and needs a new programmer. Dustin reaches out to offer an interview while Steve is off incommunicado on set, totally Dustin’s own idea, Steve is just the reason he knows how to find the guy. Eddie gets the job purely on merit from that point and gets to quit working at the cafe, all his money problems are now solved.
By the time Steve gets back, Eddie is close with Dustin and the rest of the kids, Hellfire Club style. They all think he’s the coolest. Also, they end up telling him a bunch of stories about Steve and how he used to be kind of a douchebag but has since grown into a really good dude. And even more recently (which Eddie eventually realizes means since he and Steve first met) has cooled it on dating around and ended up in a lot fewer gossip mags and tabloids, which has generally been pretty good for his mental health.
Steve comes by one of their game nights and is caught completely unaware off guard. But he takes Eddie aside and apologizes for hanging around so much before.
Eddie forgives him. Really, the worst Steve ever did was greet him with increasingly silly pickup lines and offer to show him a good time, only to leave with a shrug and his latte when Eddie turned him down again. Always tipped everyone at the cafe well, not just Eddie, and never made him feel like he expected anything because of it.
Steve points out that (*gestures the Party*) most of his favorite people are nerds, he’d just put his foot in his mouth like a dumbass that first day. (He does not mention that he used to get really defensive when people noticed/called him out on that, he’s come so far! Robin is so proud, even though he’s still definitely a dingus.)
Anyway, they start to part on good terms. Just before heading out, though Steve turns with a huge grin that Eddie recognizes and says, “Hey, since we’re starting off on a different foot now, let me introduce myself… My name is Microsoft. Can I crash at your place tonight?”
Eddie stares at him, then laughs so hard that his face hurts.
He finally takes Steve up on that date.
Did I write all that up for the cheesy pickup punchline? Absolutely.
Do I wanna write the actual fic? Nah. So it’s up for grabs if anyone else wants to, just tag me so I can read it someday.
Tagging… idk, my permanent tag list I guess. 😛 I’m stuck in a car for 6 more hours (out of 11), gotta get this pasted in before I lose reception again.

Eddie Munson would love NBC’s Hannibal. It’s dramatic, gay, and spooky, it checks all his boxes.
Eddie: I’m clearly Will Graham
Steve, deeply skeptical: how exactly?
Eddie: I too have been falsely accused of serial murder, and am frequently sweaty
Eddie: and you, Mr. Male-wife McRich-Boy, are clearly Hannibal
Steve: …I can’t decide if I should be offended

a characterization/flavor of tom that i veer toward (if not just fully believe) is tom's achieved role amongst the roys being, beyond the class-climbing, also a matter of drama-seeking. like far more than the pragmatism of having more money and even living in luxury is the thrill of being around these people, infiltrating their lives and figuring them out and helping them develop. like greg may be the Observer in a more symbolic sense re: the overarching plot of the show but i think it's made clear that tom is also a skilled observer who has in fact been at this actively for a long time, motivated by many things but one that's unique to him, imo, is his brand of curiosity. all this to say that i think tom as a midwestern, relatively privileged only child, wants specifically to live an interesting life. like even more than he wants peace. he likes family drama films and prior to the show's main plot he's living his dream lol

Hi there :) I just wanted to appreciate you for creating this blog, I adore Damien & Angela’s dynamic so much :D
Smoshtwt isn’t too fond of Damangela, ’cause a lot of them seem to think all of us ship them romantically (it seems like most of us just enjoy their fun & teasing dynamic!), so being over here is just a lot more fun with less drama!
Anyway, it looks like today’s Games video is gonna be a TNTL Trivial Pursuit - hoping for Damangela!!
- 🐦‍🔥
Thanks💖 I'm happy you like my blog! :D
Smoshtwt can be something else I tell ya. If it was all shipping they are still so aggressive for no reason. I try to stay out of it as much as I can.
(I'm a longtime fandoms lurker. There's a lot of new blood all the sudden trying to change things up, I will not sway and buckle because they think it's 'cringe'. Like I know it's cringe?? I just don't care. It brings me joy)(the word "fan" literally comes from "fanatic" and you're telling me I shouldn't be excited about my cuties™?? be quiet.)
TNTL TRIVIAL PURSUIT!!!! I wonder who it will be today!! (as always, hoping for 🕯️🕯️🕯️Damangela🕯️🕯️🕯️)

Tumblr media
Red Swan Episode 1 Recap
Episode 1 of ‘Red Swan’ begins with a speech given by NOW’s director Oh Wan-Soo, where she takes a stand against terrorist atrocities. Following that, she gets a warning from ISIS asking her to step down or face severe consequences. Seo Do-Yoon enters a casino while Oh Wan-Soo meets with Crown Prince Mohammed.
Do-Yoon Learns About The Assassin
Seo Do-Yoon spots a group of thugs spying on them and learns about an assassin, Mr. L. He then disguises himself as the janitor and enters the boss thug’s room. Soon, Mr. Park arrives with payment from the ‘flower shop’. Do-Yoon recollects the word was used by his brother’s assassin. After leaving the casino, he gets a call from Mr. Park asking to meet up.
Do-Yoon Rescues Wan-Soo From The Assassin
We see a flashback of the night Do-Yoon saw the assassin kill his brother. The next day Wan-Soo leaves to donate her necklace despite a shortage of bodyguards. Do-Yoon happens to be in the vicinity looking for the assassin. As soon as Wan-Soo leaves the venue, the assassin aims with a sniper and fires at her. Wan-Soo gets saved as a woman escorting her steps in the way and gets shot instead. The sniper continues to fire, and her bodyguard takes a shot for her too.
Locating the sniper, Do-Yoon begins to fire at him and rushes to guide Wan-Soo out of harm’s way. He gets her into a car and drives away. Soon enough, their engine breaks down, and while fixing it, Do-Yoon discovers a tracker which he immediately discards. He takes her to his place to get cleaned up. Initially, she is hesitant, but he reassures her that she will be safe. She helps him tie a bandage around his injury, and he helps her wipe the blood off her face. He then returns her to the embassy where she meets her husband.
Do-Yoon Joins ‘Flower Shop’
Following that, Do-Yoon meets up with Mr. Park, and they catch up after a long time. Do-Yoon recalls the happy memories with his brother and the time his brother donated a kidney to him. Mr. Park offers him an opportunity to work with the ‘Flower Shop’, explaining it’s a confidential way to address the Hwain Group. Do-Yoon agrees to join.
Do-Yoon Becomes Wan-Soo’s Bodyguard
Wan-Soo gets a call from her mother-in-law and goes over to speak with her. Park Mi-Ran orders Wan-Soo to bribe China and cancel the party. Wan-Soo refuses to cancel the party and bribe China. Her mother-in-law throws a fit and later tells her husband to have Wan-Soo killed. Wan-Soo calls for a press conference to broadcast the threats ISIS made. On the night of the party, Mr. Park introduces the new bodyguard and the man who saved her life, Do-Yoon.
Red Swan Episode 1 Review
Delving into episode 1 of “Red Swan,” it’s evident that the drama falls short despite its beautiful aesthetics and ideal plot setting. For various reasons, the interactions fail to ignite the desired feelings we would expect, lacking tension or thrills.
The first interaction between Wan-Soo and Do-Yoon is critical to the drama, but it does not deliver the required intensity. The assassination attempt and subsequent rescue could have been more thrilling and glorious.
The scene at Do-Yoon’s stay was progressing well until the moment he wiped the blood off Wan-Soo’s face, which felt awkward and forced. Building a good relationship takes time, and it would have been much better if the two had shown some restraint before finally giving in to their feelings.
We’ve still got the entire show ahead of us, and the premise is promising. Let’s hope the drama makes good on its potential! If you’re looking for more K-Dramas to watch this July, here are the Top 5 K-Dramas for July 2024.

Sometimes your favorite characters are the ones that just show up because you needed someone to fill a quick role. I accidentally made the silliest fella who is now blorbo number 1, special princess of my brain, and if you think anyone but me is going to be allowed to play them, you’re dead wrong.
…are they just Arule Delatro Levithian III in a different font? Maybe, but mind your business.

" what the hell happened ? that looks like it hurts. " + SPRAIN :  for one muse to carry the other after spraining their ankle. | ( hmmm. danny for chrissy, mayhaps after a fall or misstep during a cheer routine or something? :3c )
She wonders if she should be thanking God that Danny showed up. Surely, she owes some gratitude to someone up there - getting a visit from either him or Maria feels like a blessing, every single time. A weight lifted right off her shoulders, even if just for a short moment. It means all the more, in the wake of her latest colossal fuckup. “I messed up.” Wincing, Chrissy continues her hobbled attempt at a walk - so reluctant to put weight on her injured ankle, that the pristine white tip of her trainer barely touched the ground. One hand rested on Danny’s arm for support, clutching the arm of his shirt, she limps, slowly, towards the side of the bleachers – all too aware that the nurse’s office is painfully far away. “I really messed up,” she continues, those baby blue eyes focused intensely on the ground. Scrutinising, as if she’s looking for flaws in the dirt under her feet. The words leaving her are more of a mutter than actual talking; Chrissy letting out every bad thought that she’d held back in front of her team. In the moment, she’d forced herself back into a smile, the perfect picture of carrying on through despite the failure pinned to her back. Now, all of it just… comes out. “I just – I can’t believe I missed it.” Her eyes stay locked before her, worries grating against the happy facade she’d been wearing before. Chrissy has no idea how much Danny even knows about cheerleading, but with him being a friend of Maria, he has to know something. Enough, at least, for her to feel comfortable opening up. “It was such an important step, and I threw the whole team off. Everyone knows. What kind of a captain am I?”
