hello! i was wondering what kind of experience youre looking for in actors? and if any particukar level of mic quality was a must. alongside if anything in the process (any editing programs or the lije) might be inaccessible to those with visual impairments ?

Hey there anon! These are great questions.

Actors of any level of experience are encouraged to audition. I wanna uplift more new voices into the podcast world, so please don't hesitate to audition on account of lack of experience.

If you have a quality microphone, that would be preferable, but if you don't, audition anyway. If you get cast, I personally would be happy to help work out something so we can get you a good microphone going forward, so don't even worry about your mic quality if you don't have a good one right now. If I can hear you, you're doing good.

As for accessibility concerns, I'm not super well versed in what you would need to assist you in production, but if you want to message us here or email us at beforeiforgetagainpod@gmail.com with your concerns, I would be happy to help figure out what we can do to help you. I can tell you that the audition form is all text, so you should be able to use a screen reader in the audition process, and I can help find an accessible recording tool if need be. We will be using Discord for communication, and all editing will be done on our end. Let me know if any of this sounds like a concern.

the "came back wrong" trope except like... they didnt. like this mad scientists wife died, and so he studied necromancy, brought her back, and she came back and it all worked. like she came back exactly the same as she was before with literally no difference. but the scientist guy is like "oh no... what have i done.... shes Different now!!!! she came back Wrong!!!!" and shes just like. chilling. reading a book. cooking dinner. shes just so so normal but in the guys mind hes like "oh shes soooo weird" but shes just normal

Can a 16 year old who sounds like they're 19 audition?

Hey there anon!

We have answered this already, so I’ll link the original post here for you to read, but the long and short of it is that unfortunately, we will not be allowing anyone younger than 18 years of age to audition, for two reasons:

1. Because this is a paid gig, it is important that all of our actors are personally in charge of their assets. I don’t want to have to get parents’ or guardians’ approval to pay any of our actors for their work.

2. This is going to be a multi-season show, and we want to ensure that our characters have a consistent voice. Even if a 16 year old actor sounds older, vocal change is still a possibility.

If you would like to audition for a later season when you are of age, by all means! Until then, though, anyone under 18 will have to wait to audition.

It’s comparatively cheap, about 40 bucks right now (it's discounted on Amazon, so I'd recommend getting it soon if you're interested!), and I’ve been really impressed with it, as an amateur audio connoisseur. This isn’t sponsored, I just really love this microphone. It is a USB plugin, so it is recommended that you have a computer to use it, but it works really well. Hope this helps!

This is how most of the characters, settings, and plot were created. In celebration of our Casting Call Launch on January 1st, 2025, we will be dropping bits of non-spoilery lore from the Notebook every day until the casting call launch. Today’s bit of lore is:

Hey all, Beck here.

When I was a freshman in high school, I drew a picture of a woman with bright pink hair and big green eyes. I used a color palette that I found online made by @lupinsclassroom-deactivated2021 for the background.

I didn’t know her name yet, but I knew that she was gonna do great things.

The next day, I drew another woman, this time with blonde hair, bangs, and a concerned expression.

I didn’t know what to do with these characters yet, but I held onto them and eagerly awaited the day that I would find out where they belonged.

My junior year, I finally found their place. A found family time travel podcast, my first foray into the fiction podcast world that I already loved so much because of shows like Welcome to Night Vale, The Penumbra Podcast, The Bright Sessions, and so many others that had helped me through quarantine. On December 6th, 2021, I opened a little notebook that had been collecting dust on my night stand and began to write down ideas for their world, their story. Friends and loved ones of these characters came to life, plot beats and character traits blossoming with every passing entry. Before I knew it, a year had passed, and I had a show.

It has been three years since I started writing this podcast, and before it’s even out, I already feel so much love for our wonderful show and these beautiful characters. It’s been difficult, it’s been strange, and more than anything, it’s been unlike any project I’ve ever worked on, but it has been marvelous, and I cannot wait to finally bring you all to the world that I’ve loved for the past three years.

In the early days of the V.A.S.M., upper management released a list of twenty-five songs that have been officially banned on company property as a result of their use in the string of pranks, mischief, and general tomfoolery that has come to be known as ‘The Rachelpocalypse’, named for the literal Agent of Chaos who orchestrated the event. The list of banned songs has been dubbed ‘Rachel’s Mixtape’, and most agents who were around during the event have at least one commemorative hard copy of the playlist. ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ is at the top of the list. Nobody knows the consequences of playing anything from Rachel’s mixtape, as anyone convicted of the heinous crime is so swiftly and effectively disposed of that many doubt that they ever existed at all.

Are there any age ratings on auditioning?

Hey anon!

This is something that we have already answered, so I will link the first ask here for you to read, but the long and short of it is yes, we are requiring all actors to be at least 18 years old at the time of auditioning. The only exception to this is if you are will be 18 within a year of your audition. If this is the case, you must get in contact with us by email at beforeiforgetagainpod@gmail.com before submitting your audition and get approval to audition for our show, or you will be disqualified from the casting process.

Do you have any voice actors yet?

Hey anon!

We have a few roles that are already spoken for. Lazarus, the head of Assignments, will be played by myself, Beck Andrews. Valdria, the V.A.S.M. Approved Virtual Assistant, will be played by Co-creator Blakelee Holmes. Sophie, the mischievous tech support, will be played by one of our writer/editors, Nyla Warren. There are a few smaller roles that we may also use our crew for, but they will be primarily small ensemble roles to fill sport. Beyond these, there are 15 roles that one can audition for.

None of our main cast roles beyond Valdria, Sophie, and Lazarus will be reserved for anybody in particular, so please don’t hesitate to audition for any role that suits you, and if you have questions, feel free to send more asks or email us at beforeiforgetagainpod@gmail.com !
