okay but a bit on the maya story
i think i titled it "maya and the dragon" or something like that. anna is the human. it starts when anna has a fairy, maya, show up on her doorstep. her wings are burned, she cannot fly. maya has trust issues due to however her wings became burned (haven't fleshed this out yet). the classic they get to know and trust one another. however, maya needs to fly for the autumn feast ( <- titled it this as a placeholder title) so there's both a time limit and a requirement. they figure out together that if she can convince a dragonfly to let her ride it, she can still take her place in the autumn feast. anna cannot talk to the dragonfly, but she first spends time capturing a dragonfly. more trust issues because the dragonfly understandably is under some pressure here. i forget what else happens. ultimately anna and maya can communicate, maya and the dragonfly can communicate, and anna and the dragonfly cannot. it's very much about the magic in the mundane and things like that. ultimately of course the dragonfly carries maya through the autumn feast and they all live happily ever after. oh, and also people don't usually believe in fairies, like the fairies are secret, but as anna is a child/has a childlike faith in fairies she's not surprised they exist. originally the dragonfly bonded with maya but i'm probably going to drop that particular plotline bc it sounds like way too many dragon rider stories xD there's lots and lots about nature and beauty in the story too.
anyway yeah that's a slab of text about maya and the dragon

pinnable post for this blog:
hi, I'm Cinnamon, they/them, genderqueer & nonbinary & butch. I'm 32 years old and a practicing witch for almost ten years now. my main is @thepaladog
I'm clergy & priestex for my temple, which in my tradition means I'm sort of a spiritual counselor for people exploring a pagan path. I'm also a big bad wolf, which is to say, otherkin to red wolves specifically; I'll often call myself a 'werewolf' due to this, and posts connected to this are tagged #the wolf. I'm also fond of knights and the concept of (non-gendered) chivalry, hence the blog title. you may see me tag things in that vein as #the knight; these are ideals that I am strongly aligned with, things that I'm trying my best to be!
I could sit on a porch and talk for days about religion and spirituality but for the sake of a bio: I believe spirituality is fluid and highly personal, with overarching higher concepts that have connected us in an animistic way for as long as humanity's records go back. closed practices are closed practices and should be respected every time. indigenous people's voices should be heard and valued at every (neo-)pagan table. we do ourselves good by living closer to the natural world around us, by being aware of our status as good neighbors to everyone we can be.
my genealogy is mostly Germanic peoples, though my family has lived in the foothills of the Appalachias for about four-hundred years, so "Appalachian" is what I consider myself to be in a regional cultural sense. as is common in that folkloric practice, I have found the most comfort in following nature (in its many aspects) as divine and most of my ritual practice is aligned with what you might call 'granny craft'.
on this blog, you will see my tags for these concepts that I hold holy to my own devotion and practice. these are sort of abstract and ever-expanding. some of them are like divinity to me, while others are more like friends and mentors. these may change but right now they are:
#the bear - life well-lived, wild nature, the nurturer & the protector, leadership, responsibility, neutral forces of balance, the importance of eating berries barefoot by the river with people you love, harshness & tenderness both being a part of being alive
#the black dog - death & grief, growth through loss, liminal spaces, the art of witchery, the silence of a 3am parking lot and the sound of a 3am forest, every crossroad both literal and metaphorical
#the rabbit - the rabbit; patience, awareness, action, caution, daring.
#the foxes - the red fox; sunlight, daytime, warmth, laughter, play, growth. the gray fox; moonlight, nighttime, cold, reality, mischief, decay.
#the frog - the element of water; emotions, memory, reflection.
#the salamander - the element of fire; passion, control, desire.
#the oak - the element of earth; balance, stability, homeland.
#the dragonfly - the element of air; creativity, expression, whimsy.
welcome, feel free to ask me questions, I don't post my own content very often but who knows, maybe one day I'll change that!

I’ve seen a few ~aesthetic~ photos of rock stacks in rivers recently and this is just a reminder that you are destroying habitat when you move rocks around in rivers and streams.
In addition to dragonfly nymphs, rocky river beds are home to lots of other larval invertebrates like damselflies, mayflies, water beetles, caddisflies, stoneflies, and a bunch of dipterans. Not to mention lots of fish and amphibians!
Plus large scale rock stacking can change the flow of a stream and lead to increased erosion.
Anyway dragonfly for admiration:

Strap-on blowjobs are underrated. So what if I can't feel his mouth wrapped around my cock? He looks so pretty sucking it like his life depends on it. And so what if I can't shoot a load of cum down his throat? I'm going to get so wet watching him gag on my dick that he'll still get a sweet, wet treat for sucking me off like the good little cock hungry slut he is.

A lot of the time when I reblog jewellery on here, it’s art nouveau jewellery, because I really like art nouveau. In general, and in jewellery in particular. And most of that is the aesthetic. I like the natural forms, I like the twisty curly bits, I like the use of materials, I like how a lot of art nouveau jewellery is using metals and stones and other materials to create a specific form, an insect or a plant or a goddess or even sometimes nature scenes. I like …
I feel like a lot of the time with jewellery, it feels like ‘I’m going to use this object to show off the size and value of my pretty rock’. And there’s nothing wrong with that. Some of those rocks are indeed gorgeous. But art nouveau feels more ‘I’m going to use these pretty rocks, and several other things, to create the impact of this object’? I just love the use of materials, glass and enamel and colour, as well as precious stones and metals, to create a form or a scene.
Like, you get a diamond ring, it’s a diamond ring. But you get something like a dragonfly brooch (Louis Acoc):
Or a lilypad hair comb (Rene Lalique):
Or a wisteria branch (Georges Fouquet):
And it’s a whole creation. A little wearable piece of art.
And I don’t want to sound too dismissive. I know the craftmanship and skill and artistry that goes into any kind of jewellery making. That diamond ring took skill I will never have. I just.
I like the emphasis on form more than material that you get with art nouveau. Like normally you hear ‘glass jewellery’, ‘enamel jewellery’, and it’s cheap, it’s frowned upon, but in art nouveau it’s what that glass or enamel was used to make that’s the important part:
(Rene Lalique)
(Eugene Feuillatre)
Anyway. In summary, I really, really, really like art nouveau jewellery?
#art#jewellery#art nouveau#part of this is also that i just love glass as a material#and a lot of the 'cheaper' gems#but i would pay more for that dragonfly than for the largest gem in the world#if money was a thing i actually had anyway#opinions i have them
