I realize that online activists are way better at understanding aggressive forms of bigotry (IE; people seeing a group as evil and monstrous and wanting to take away their rights because they want to hurt them) than they are at understanding the more paternalistic types of bigotry (IE; thinking a group is fundamentally incompetent and childlike and thus needs to have their rights stripped from them so that they can be properly taken care of). Like, the famous colonialism poem described the people the British wanted to conquer as "half devil and half child", and I feel like we've done much more work on deconstructing the "half devil" part than we have the "half child" part in activist spaces (partly because it's the half child part that well meaning liberals fall for). It means we're especially bad at talking about most forms of sexism, ablism, transandrophobia, aphobia, and the type of racism perpetuated by people with white collar jobs.

Like, I feel like people are way more aware of how transfemmes are marginalized vs how transmascs are marginalized. Most transphobes tend to paint transfemmes as dangerous perverts, while they tend to paint transmascs are helpless children who lack the ability to make decisions about their bodies. And people are just kind of way worse at talking about how transmascs are treated. Like, it's so common to hear people in the queer community to basically act like misgendering a transmasc is an act of mercy. Like, they'll understand why it would be bad and dangerous to put a transfemme person in a men's space, but they'll act like transmascs being placed in women's spaces is a good progressive thing for their own protection. Of course, this isn't to say there's no infantalization of transfemmes, or nobody who sterotypes transmascs as perverted monsters, but that's certainly not the most common narrative.

It's gotten so bad that most of modern feminism has mutated into a capitalist ideology about protecting women from the dangers of the world in a way that lines up almost exactly with what a Victorian gentleman would believe about how women need to be treated. It's gotten to the point where people are called pedophiles on Xwitter for being attracted to pretty normal looking Asian women.

unfocused rambling thoughts about Lars ig??

The difference between Lars vs the other Mishimas is so fun to think about.

Despite the blood relation Lars is just. Not a Mishima. Biologically sure, but not really in any other way. He's got the hair and the lightning to show he's got the Mishima blood, but Lars is also just everything the Mishimas aren't.

He cares about others unprompted (unlike Jin who's an edgy loner, Kazuya who somehow bagged Jun, and Heihachi who's willing to throw away anybody he deems useless like his own father and Lee after the events of T2 ((altho we also still subscribe to our theory that Heihachi genuinely loved/loves Kazumi but her betrayal thanks to her devil gene fucked him up irrepairably)), he's always friendly unless he's up against an enemy (like how his T8 intro with Lee has them engaging in banter before their friendly but still no-holds-barred match), in T6 he's even willing to put aside his anger/hatred of Heihachi when he finds out his allies need help. Hell, he took like half of the entire Tekken Force with him when he defected because he was so beloved.

And we can believe it.

Lars is very focused on his overall goals but he's also willing to do what he can to protect civilians like when he refused Lee's help in T6 but was still more than happy to help Julia when Lee told him that she was in trouble. He's friendly and presonable, but he's also no pushover (he did knock a guy out by punching his sorry ass through a wall in the opening of T6, among many Many other things). And then when Victor shows up in T8 and is immediately respectful towards him. With how Victor has a bit of an "old-fashioned gentleman" thing about him (what with the way he talks to Reina and is constantly insulting and demeaning Claudio's bs without actually using any outright "vulgar" language), Lars is clearly someone Victor respects when it comes to his leadership and fighting capabilities. And Victor Chevalier has been around the block enough times to be able to tell if someone is worth respecting/trusting. (except maybe Reina, but he's still a French boomer so there's definitely gonna be some blind spots regarding women.)

Anyways, Lars is great and we love him lots even if Dragunov is still the number one Babygirl in our heart. UwU

You obviously are familiar with Mr & Mrs Smith and the ICONIC Morticia and Gomez dances. However, may I suggest;

"Cell Block Tango" - you know I had to include it.

"Shall we dance?" (2004) - so sensual and intimate. Poetry in motionm

"Take the Lead" - there's a tango in a detention centre with two people (which is what I was thinking of), but there's also a lovely sandwich tango (iykwim)

Zoro (Capoeira):

I love this. When I heard(read) "dance series" I immediately knew a dance fight style would KILL. I never knew Capoeira before this so I have to thank you for introducing me because *chefs kiss* muah.

I couldn't find many Capoeira scenes in movies or shows, but from what I did see there's a lot of break-dance-esque leg action. So I gotta suggest the Eggsy vs Gazelle fight from Kingsmen. (Side note: the kingsmen movies are actually so camp).

If you don't know, Gazelle is an antagonist with prosthetic legs that are basically spears and she fights with a lot of slashes. The scene is beautiful. Lots of legs swinging, lots of fists flying, very lethal. Lots of physics defying and frankly reality bending moments that fit into the drama of anime fighting, specifically one piece.

Now idk where it would fit but I would kill myself if I didn't mention the Naacho Naacho dance scene (essentially a dance battle) in the movie RRR (seriously good movie, it is v long tho). It's an Indian movie set during the war of the English colonisation. One of the main characters has a crush on a white girl who invites him to a party, and his friend tags along for moral support. They use the power of friendship and dance to defeat a racist white guy who thinks that they're not sophisticated bc they don't even know how to dance any of his fancy dances (which aren't even english dances, by the way) by dancing a dance that gets everyone to join bc it's so fun, and they manage to continue dancing as everyone falls around them bc of the pace and stamina needed. If you watch none of the scenes I've suggested, please watch this one.

Now, for the Buggy Solo I'm having some conflicting thoughts. He deserves a soft little dancey dance, but I could also see it getting VERY ANGSTY very quickly.

OLD question about the OC quartet but here i am finally answering <3 i think the OCs' tastes in music are more varied than my own. keep in mind this is technically not our world so i can't cite specific bands/songs but

nova: stimmy EDM bitch through and through.

sol: likes anything loud and angry (perhaps unsurprisingly).

ruby: particularly fond of fiddle, drums, & any form of live music.

devin: has the most varied taste in that he literally will listen to whatever is engaging enough to serve as a distraction from The Horrors

I'm not going to choose. I am once again going to cheat! It's what Zaresh would have wanted. And I apologize because many of these songs will be. Well, he is my worst Nastyman. That should sum it up.

The first is Alive from the Jekyll and Hyde musical, which I have always associated with the first time he killed a man. It was a major shift in his life in which he finally took out all of his powerlessness and anger on a man that had shown him deep and profound kindness. The man gifted him with the circlet that contains his glamour, taking pity on the poor dark elf who he had seen receive such unforgiving treatment on the surface, and decided that a wood elf glamour would help him blend in more. It didn't help that he told Zaresh that the circlet and glamour were one of a kind. Zaresh's deep need to possess pretty things overwhelmed him and he couldn't possibly have this man making anything like it for anyone else :) I need to write this one day.

Nothing by Emilie Autumn is technically a Vaela/Zaresh song, but it makes me INSANE because it's frighteningly accurate to Zaresh's mindset.
