Which is funny considering 1. The main reason it’s an issue for us is because we feel like Hwoarang is aggressively a bottom in how much he wants Jin to wreck him where Jin is just not that kind of guy even if he did top. And 2. We ship SteveRang but see Hwoarang as a total power bottom to Steve’s more casual topping style.

Maybe it’s because we see their relationships so differently both canonically and in terms of shipping. Idk lol

We still can't believe a fighting game has us finally doing serious media/literary/character analysis through fics and essays and shit. We know Tekken is more story-driven than most fighting games, but it's still wild to think that we're actually writing a character introspection fic for Jin Kazama.

We don't even like Jin. Sure, he's not UN-likable necessarily, but the fact remains that he's honestly pretty bland even with his martyr complex.

We blame Tekken 8. Not only is it how we fully got into this franchise, but it actually made Devil Jin kinda cool. Or at least interesting.

We won't go into detail, but we will say that realizing Devil Jin is probably everything Jin wants to be (cool, powerful, unfettered by his teen/young adult angst) and more is part of what promped this inner turmoil.
