word count : 5,4k (chat i got carried away)
The cozy studio was bathed in warm light, designed almost as if to feel like a welcoming living room. Two plush chairs faced each other, separated by a low coffee table adorned with a few carefully placed books and a small vase of fresh flowers. Everything about the space was crafted to exude intimacy and warmth, inviting open conversation.
Drew Starkey entered the room first, his usual calm confidence mingled with a tinge of nervous energy. He smoothed his shirt absentmindedly and scanned the setup, trying to ground himself in the moment. He was used to being in front of cameras, but this felt different. This wasnât just about promoting a project or answering rapid-fire questions on a press junket. This was you.
âHello,â Drew started, a smile gracing his features as he took in the fact that he was sitting right in front of his number one celebrity crush. His hand hovered awkwardly in a small wave, as if he couldnât believe this was real.
âHi,â you said back, a giggle falling past your lips when you noticed his sheepish look. âNice to meet you.â
âNice to meet you too,â he said, his voice just a little higher than usual. Drew cleared his throat, laughing at himself, which made you laugh too. âSorry, Iâm⊠a little nervous.â
âOh, donât be,â you reassured him with a warm smile. âI promise, I donât bite.â
âGood to know.â He chuckled, his shoulders relaxing slightly. âHow are you doing?â
âIâm great, thank you. What about you?â
âPretty good, canât complain.â A laugh bubbled out of him, and subsequently, you. The way he rubbed the back of his neck made you think he was still pinching himself that this was happening.
The cameras rolled, capturing the easy charm and immediate chemistry between the two of you.Â
Drewâs grin widened as he began. âFirst of all, let me just sayâIâm completely starstruck right now. I mean, the way you completely own every role you take on... itâs incredible.â
Your eyes widened in surprise, a bashful laugh escaping as you waved off the compliment. âOh, stop it. Youâre making me blush!â
âIâm serious,â he pressed, leaning forward slightly. âYouâre like⊠the blueprint. If I ever get even halfway to where you are, Iâll consider myself lucky.â
âWell, now youâre just flattering me,â you said, your voice teasing but your cheeks undeniably warm. âBut thank you, thatâs so sweet. And honestly, youâre being way too hard on yourself. Youâre incredible in Queer. Youâve got this natural charm that just lights up the screen.â
âNatural charm, huh?â He smirked, pretending to preen, which made you laugh again. âIâll take that.â
âGood,â you replied, smiling. âYou should, because itâs true.â
Drewâs gaze softened, the teasing giving way to something more earnest. âThat means a lot, really. Especially coming from you. Youâre like⊠Hollywood royalty to many.â
You tilted your head, a playful smirk tugging at your lips. âTo many, huh? And are you part of this many?â
Drewâs eyes widened, and he laughed, a little caught off guard. âOh, absolutely. Iâve got a lifetime membership to the fan club.â
âGood to know,â you teased, crossing your legs and leaning back in your chair with an air of mock superiority. âIâll have to start charging you membership fees.â
âTotally worth it,â he shot back, his grin widening.
âWell, thank you,â you said with a soft laugh, âSo, weâve both got some things in common, which I think is pretty cool.â
âLike working with Daniel Craig?â he asked.
âYes! Honestly, I still reminisce about our time on set⊠heâs genuinely incredible, isnât he?â
âHe is, yeah. I found myself just admiring him and sort of forgetting I had to act too. Heâs just⊠heâs on another level, for sure.â
âDanielâs a master of his craft⊠Most of my scenes as Paloma in No Time To Die were with him, and at first I was so nervous because, like, what if I messed up in front of the Daniel Craig?â Drew let out a laugh at your words, and you couldnât help but laugh too. âBut when he noticed I was nervous he reassured me that it was all good. Heâs just the best.â
âYouâve worked with so many high-profile actors.â You nod slightly at his words, as if it were the most common thing in the world. âAre you always nervous when meeting them, or was it just a Daniel thing?â
âIt wasnât just Daniel, no, but I think it depends. For example, when I did Oppenheimer with Cillian Murphy, for some reason I felt more relaxed⊠even though I had some nude scenes with him.â
âNude scenes just make you connect, donât they?â he joked, leaning back with a sly grin.
âThey do, actually,â you replied, leaning into the banter. âYouâd think theyâd be worse, but honestly, with the amount of seriousness and concentration they take, itâs like you donât have time to be nervous.â
âYou clearly pulled it off flawlessly,â Drew said with mock solemnity.Â
âYou did too in Queer.â You compliment him, âI watched it a few days ago, and the chemistry you had with Daniel was just off the charts.â
Drewâs face lit up, a mix of pride and bashfulness crossing his features. âDanielâs an amazing scene partner. He really made it easy for me to tap into everything.â
âWell, it shows,â you said. âIt was such a raw and beautiful performance. I mightâve shed a tear or two.â
âOkay, now youâre just trying to make me blush,â Drew teased, pointing at you with a playful squint. âBut seriously, that means a lot coming from you.â
âHey, give credit where itâs due,â you shot back with a grin. âYouâve got this way of making everything feel so real. Like when youâre in pain, weâre in pain. When youâre in love, weâre falling right alongside you.â
âWow,â he said, shaking his head as if to clear it. âI donât know what to do with all these compliments. This is the best therapy session Iâve ever had.â
You laughed, crossing your legs and leaning forward slightly. âWell, Iâm glad I could help. But now Iâm curiousâhow did you prepare for a role like that? I mean, itâs so emotionally intense, no?.â
âIt was a lot of journaling, a lot of talking with Luca about backstory and motivations,â Drew explained, his tone more thoughtful. âAnd honestly, I kind of drew from real-life experiences. Not the exact ones, obviously, but just feelings of vulnerability and⊠wanting to be understood.â
âThatâs beautiful,â you said softly, your smile turning tender. âItâs amazing how much of ourselves we pour into these characters.â
âExactly,â Drew agreed. âAnd sometimes itâs terrifying, but when it resonates with people, it feels worth it.â
âIt definitely resonated with me,â you assured him. âAnd Iâm sure with countless others too.â
âThatâs really nice to hear,â he said with a soft smile.
âHow was it for you to work with Luca? Because I remember it being one of the highlights of my career.â
Drewâs eyes lit up at the mention of Luca Guadagnino, and he leaned forward slightly, as if the memory itself was a magnet pulling him closer. âOh, working with Luca was⊠incredible,â he said, his voice laced with awe. âHeâs got this way of creating such a safe, open space on set. Itâs almost like heâs not just directingâheâs inviting you into this world heâs building in his head.â
You nodded eagerly, your own memories of working with Luca bringing a nostalgic smile to your face. âI know exactly what you mean. He makes it feel like youâre collaborating on this deeply personal piece of art, rather than just executing someone elseâs vision.â
âExactly!â Drew said, gesturing animatedly. âAnd he has this way of pulling things out of you that you didnât even know you had. Like, heâll ask you one simple question, and suddenly youâre diving into this emotional rabbit hole.â
You laughed, tilting your head in agreement. âHe asked me once, âWhat would this character, Maren in my case, dream about?â and it completely changed how I approached the next scene.â
Drewâs mouth dropped open in mock surprise. âHe asked me the exact same question!â
âNo way!â you exclaimed, your laughter spilling out in disbelief. âI love that! Itâs honestly such a deceptively simple question, but it opens up so many layers.â
âIt really does,â Drew said, chuckling. âAnd then youâre sitting there like, âOkay, now I have to rethink everything I thought I knew about this character.ââ
âItâs kind of genius, though,â you added. âHe makes you work harder, but not in a way that feels forced. Itâs like⊠he trusts you to figure it out, but he gives you these breadcrumbs to follow.â
âExactly,â Drew said again, his tone growing softer. âI think thatâs why his films feel so intimate, he gets the human part so right.â
You smiled, letting his words settle in the air for a moment. âI think thatâs what makes working with him feel like such a privilege. Itâs not just about telling a storyâitâs about feeling it.â
Drew nodded, his gaze thoughtful. âAnd those are the moments that stick with you, you know? The ones where you felt something real, even if it was just for a moment.â
âCompletely,â you agreed, your voice soft with sincerity. âThose moments are why we do this.â
For a moment, the two of you sat in companionable silence, the weight of the conversation settling in the cozy studio. Then, Drew broke the quiet with a grin. âOkay, but did Luca make you do those impromptu rehearsals at, like, the crack of dawn?â
âOh my God, yes!â you burst out, your eyes widening. âIâd just roll out of bed with zero coffee and somehow be expected to pour my soul into a scene.â
Drew laughed, his face lighting up. âRight? Itâs like, âGood morning, hereâs your emotional breakdown for the day.ââ
You laughed along with him, the shared experience adding another thread to the easy camaraderie forming between you. âBut honestly, Iâd do it all over again in a heartbeat.â
âSame,â Drew said, his expression softening again. âFor Luca? Anytime.â
âAbsolutely,â you agreed, your eyes locking with his for a moment before the warmth of the studio light reminded you both that the cameras were still rolling.
Drew shifted in his seat slightly, his expression thoughtful. âYou know, itâs kind of wildâhearing you talk about all these incredible experiences. Youâve been doing this for so long, and yet itâs like youâre just getting started.â
You tilted your head with a small smile. âThatâs sweet of you to say. But yeah, I guess I have been in this industry for most of my life. Itâs all Iâve ever really known.â
Drewâs eyebrows lifted. âThatâs crazy to think about. I didnât even consider acting until after college. You mustâve been, what, ten? Eleven?â
âEight, actually,â you corrected with a chuckle. âMy first role was in this little indie film. I was basically just the kid who ran around in the background eating ice cream, but I thought it was the coolest thing ever.â
He laughed, clearly amused. âThatâs adorable. And now youâre the Hollywood It Girl. No big deal.â
You rolled your eyes playfully, your laughter light. âOh, stop it. But yeah, itâs been a journey. Growing up on sets definitely shaped me, for better or worse. Sometimes I wonder what it wouldâve been like to have a more ânormalâ childhood.â
Drewâs smile softened. âThat mustâve been such a whirlwind. I canât even imagine starting that young. I didnât even think about acting seriously until high school.â
âOh, Iâve read about that!â You said, your voice lighting up. âYou were all about sports growing up, right?â
âYeah,â Drew admitted with a chuckle. âI was your typical small-town kidâbaseball, basketball, you name it. I was convinced I was going to go pro in something, but clearly, that didnât pan out.â
âWell, I think acting suits you pretty well.âÂ
âThank you,â he says with a soft laugh, rubbing the back of his neck. âBut yeah, the real shift happened in high school when I joined a drama class. It was all Samuel Beckett and absurdist plays, which at the time I thought was the coolest thing ever.â
You leaned forward, intrigued. âSo thatâs what pulled you in? Drama class?â
âPretty much,â he said with a nod. âAnd then I went to Western Carolina for college. I double-majored in English and theater, thinking, âIf this acting thing doesnât work out, Iâll at least have a backup plan.ââ
âThatâs so realistic of you,â you said with a laugh. âMeanwhile, I was ten, telling anyone whoâd listen that I was going to win an Oscar one day.â
âAnd look at you now,â Drew said, gesturing to you with an almost reverent smile. âYou made it happen.â
You chuckled, a bit flustered by his admiration. âWell, not quite, just an Oscar nominee for now. But thank you. You know, I think your journeyâs pretty incredible too. A double major? Thatâs no joke. And starting later in the game like you did⊠it must have felt like a slow burn, but itâs clearly paid off.â
âYeah, I guess,â Drew said thoughtfully. âIt was definitely a slower burn for me. I didnât land my first real gig until Iâd been auditioning for what felt like forever.â
âI think that makes your journey even more special,â you said, your tone sincere. âYou came into it with all this life experience and maturity. It shows in your work, you know? Thereâs this depth to your performances thatâs just⊠rare.â
Drewâs ears turned a little pink, and he laughed softly, glancing down at his hands. âWow, youâre gonna make me blush over here.â
âGood,â you said with a teasing smile. âItâs only fair after all the compliments youâve been throwing my way.â
He looked up, his grin sheepish but warm. âTouchĂ©. But seriously, hearing that from someone like youâsomeone whoâs been at this for so long and is so insanely talentedâit means a lot.â
âWell,â you replied with a playful tilt of your head, âI think itâs safe to say weâre officially mutual fans.â
Drew laughed at that, the sound easy and genuine. âI can live with that.â
The conversation shifted into more comfortable territory as the two of you shared experiences, trading stories about acting and the film industry. Drew, now feeling at ease, leaned forward with renewed interest.
âYou know,â he began, a thoughtful expression crossing his face, âI've been thinking about how different TV shows and movies are, especially when it comes to the pacing and character development. Like, in a show, we have to maintain this ongoing energy for the characters over multiple seasons. But with movies, itâs a totally different vibe, right?â
You nodded, understanding immediately where he was going. âItâs definitely a huge shift. With TV, youâre given time to build on a character slowly. Every episode is another chapter, so you can explore new facets of them and keep the audience hooked for longer periods of time. But movies, theyâre this intense sprint. You have to get everything across in just two hours or so, but in a way that feels just as layered and satisfying.â
Drew's eyes lit up with excitement, clearly passionate about the topic. "Exactly! You have to balance the action and suspense while still giving the characters these moments of vulnerability. Over multiple seasons, you can really let them grow and change. It's like a slow burn. But when you're doing a movie, you donât have the luxury of that buildup. It has to be this concentrated emotional punch right from the start.â
âThatâs one of the biggest challenges of film, for sure," you agreed. "In a film, every second counts. You canât afford to waste a moment. But I think whatâs also interesting is how both mediums can explore a characterâs journey from different angles. TV shows can dive into their backstory in more detail, but movies... they really need to hit those emotional beats and leave an impact without dragging it out."
Drew smiled, clearly engaged in the discussion. âIn TV shows you need that perfect balance of suspense, character development, and personal growth. And then, at the end of the season, you drop a huge bombshell that leaves people wanting more.â
You laughed, raising an eyebrow playfully. âSounds like youâve been doing some serious thinking about it. Whatâs the secret to keeping the audience hooked without losing the depth of your character?â
He leaned back, his expression thoughtful. âWell, I think itâs about letting the characters evolve with the story. You need to make sure the audience sees the human side of your character, even when they're in these crazy situations. Itâs what keeps people invested in the long run.â
âYouâve really got the process figured out,â you said with a smile. âBut youâre rightâitâs a different rhythm for TV. With a movie, you get to go deep quickly, but with a show, you have to keep it dynamic and varied. And letâs not forget, you need that cliffhanger at the end to make people binge-watch the next season.â
Drewâs eyes twinkled with mischief. âYouâre giving away all the secrets! Next thing you know, people will be expecting a cliffhanger every time they watch a movie."
âWell, movies and TV are both art, but they demand different approaches,â you said, âand youâre doing an amazing job balancing both. Iâm honestly so excited to see where your career goes next. Both worlds are lucky to have you.â
He chuckled softly, clearly humbled. âThanks. I think Iâm just lucky to be a part of both. I mean, who wouldnât want to be in a show that gets people talking for days?â
âRight? Youâve got Outer Banks, which has such a dedicated fanbase, and then movies like Queer that touch people in such a different way. Itâs amazing to watch your versatility.â
He leaned in slightly, a playful glint in his eyes. âIâm just trying to keep up with you. Honestly, your transition from action to more emotional roles is inspiring. I hope I can pull off something even close to what youâve done with your career.â
Your smile softened, your voice sincere. âWell, youâre already doing it, Drew. Youâre already there. Itâs not just about the rolesâitâs about the heart you put into them. And youâve definitely got that.â
Drewâs smile faltered for a moment, the weight of your words sinking in. His gaze softened, as if he were truly reflecting on what youâd said. He leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms but keeping his eyes on you, his expression thoughtful.
âIt's crazy, isn't it?â He began, his voice a little quieter now, âThe idea of giving so much of yourself to something that feels so... intimate. But when it works, when the audience feels it too, there's nothing like it.â
âExactly,â you agreed, your voice a little quieter now. âThat's the real magic, when the audience feels like they know the characters, like they're right there with them. Itâs not about the plot twists or the fancy setsâitâs about the emotions that we build and share with them.â
Drew nodded thoughtfully, his gaze drifting away for a moment before returning to you. âSpeaking of emotions, I just saw your new movie, We Live In Time,â he said, his voice taking on a softer tone. âItâs one of those films that stays with you, you know? Itâs raw in a way that makes you uncomfortable, but itâs also beautiful. How did you tap into that for Almut?â
Your expression softened as you thought back on the experience. We Live In Time had been a journeyâa raw, almost therapeutic one. âIt was an emotional rollercoaster, honestly,â you said, leaning back slightly, letting the memory settle in. âI think the hardest part was showing that moment where her whole world shifts. It was such a raw, profound type of emotion I had to channel in order to do justice to the character and her experiences.â
Drew sat back, letting the weight of the conversation settle. âI think that's what makes your career so incredible. You never just play a character. You become them. And you take us with you. Every heartbreak, every triumph, every moment of doubt... we feel it all with you. That's what makes your work so powerful.â
You met his gaze, feeling the depth of the conversation linger between you both. âItâs all about connection, right? Connecting with the character, with the audience, and with the emotions that we all share as humans. Because at the end of the day, weâre all just trying to make sense of time, love, and the moments we get.â
Drew smiled, his expression genuine and soft. âWell, youâve definitely made sense of it for me. We Live In Timeâitâs not just a movie. Itâs a reminder to cherish what we have. And that, in itself, is something special.â
You smiled back, your heart full as you let the words sink in. âThank you, Drew. Thatâs really sweet of you.â
You both shared a comfortable silence for a moment, before Drew broke it with a playful grin. âYou know, itâs clear youâve mastered the art of vulnerability on screen, but I canât help but wonderâdid you ever have moments on set where it was just... impossible to take things seriously?â
You laughed, the sound light and genuine. âOh, absolutely. In fact, as a kid, it was all impossible to be serious,â you admitted, shaking your head at the memory. âI remember this one time during a scene on set when I was probably around 9 or 10. We were supposed to be doing this emotional scene, and I had to cry on cue. But instead of crying, I couldnât stop giggling. It was a dramatic moment, and my co-star was all serious and trying to get through the scene, but I just... lost it.â
Drew raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued. âGiggling during a dramatic scene? What happened?â
âWell, my director, bless her heart, kept trying to give me these 'serious actor' looks. She was this no-nonsense kind of woman, and she had this way of narrowing her eyes when things werenât going well. I tried my best to hold it together, but then my co-starâwho was way too good at being seriousâlooked at me and just gave this super intense stare, and that was it. I burst out laughing right in the middle of the take.â
Drew chuckled, shaking his head. âI can just picture that. You were probably trying to hold it together, but it must have been so hard with all that tension in the air.â
âI swear, the more I tried not to laugh, the harder it became,â you continued, grinning at the memory. âIt was one of those moments where youâre like, 'Why am I even here? I canât do this.' But somehow, I got through it. The director had to take a deep breath, and we did a few more takes. Eventually, we got it done, but I think we all were on the verge of cracking up the whole time.â
Drew let out a laugh, clearly imagining the scene. âI canât blame you. I feel like as a kid, you have no filter. Everything feels like a joke, and itâs so hard to be serious when everyone else is trying so hard.â
âYou have no idea,â you said, your voice still light. âThere were so many times Iâd be doing a serious scene, and Iâd start thinking about something random, like a certain meme or a funny sound someone made on setâand then, bam, it was game over. Iâd be holding in a laugh like my life depended on it.â
Drew smirked, leaning in a little. âI totally feel that. I mean, as an adult, I still have moments where I struggle to keep a straight face. I once had a scene where I was supposed to be super intense, but the prop guy was standing just out of frame, and he made this ridiculous face at meâcompletely threw me off. I couldnât stop laughing, and it ended up taking hours to finish the scene because we kept cracking up. Honestly, I think the crew started to get annoyed with us after a while.â
âSee?â you said with a grin. âIt never really changes. Truthfully, the older you get, the harder it becomes to hold it in. But then you look at the footage and realize how much fun you actually had, and that makes it all worth it.â
Drew nodded thoughtfully, a playful twinkle in his eyes. âYeah, thatâs the thing. Sometimes itâs the moments you didnât plan for that end up being the most memorable. Like when you have a laugh on set, and suddenly you feel closer to everyone, even though youâre supposed to be in character.â
âExactly,â you said, your smile widening. âThereâs something so beautiful about those unscripted moments. It reminds you that acting is, at its core, about connectingâwhether thatâs through laughter or the heavy stuff. And even though I had my fair share of giggling fits as a kid, I think those moments taught me just as much as the serious ones. Maybe more.â
Drew leaned back in his chair, a thoughtful look crossing his face. âIt's funny how those little momentsâlike a laugh in the middle of a serious sceneâcan end up being the ones you remember the most. I think those are the ones that make the work feel real, you know?â
You smiled, your gaze distant as you reflected on the years of working on sets. âI know exactly what you mean.â
âYeah, like those unscripted moments,â Drew added, his voice quieter now, as if the weight of the sentiment lingered in the air. âThey give the performance an authenticity that you canât get from just following the script to a tee.â
You nodded, the words hanging between you like a shared understanding. âExactly. And as a kid, I was so focused on getting it ârightââon being perfectâthat I missed the beauty of just being in the moment. But as Iâve gotten older, Iâve realized how important it is to let go of the idea of perfection. It's in those mistakes, the wrong takes, the bloopersâthat's where you find the truth.â
Drew's expression softened, his eyes meeting yours with a sincerity that made your chest tighten. âI think itâs key not to be afraid to show the mess, the imperfect parts of a character, because thatâs what makes them human.â
A small chuckle escaped you, the warmth of the moment filling the studio. âRight? Weâre all just a little bit of a mess, trying to figure it out, but thatâs what makes the journey worth it. Weâre constantly learning, constantly evolving, and we bring that to our work. The growth, the mistakesâit all shapes us.â
Drew nodded, his gaze shifting as if reflecting on those same ideas. âYeah, and the growth never stops, does it? Just when you think youâve figured it out, something new happens, and it challenges you again.â
âThat's the beauty of it,â you said, your voice quieter now, the bond between you both deepening. âThe challenge is what keeps it exciting, keeps you moving forward.â
Drew grinned, a playful spark lighting his eyes once more. âWell, I guess weâre both lifelong students of this thing called acting, huh?â
âAbsolutely,â you said with a laugh, the lightness returning. âAnd just like any good student, weâll always be learning. Who knows, maybe we'll even get better at not laughing in the middle of dramatic scenes.â
Drew let out a hearty laugh, nodding enthusiastically. âI think thatâs going to take years of practice, honestly.â
You both shared a moment of genuine laughter, the warmth of your conversation filling the space around you. You leaned back into the chairs, the laughter still lingering in the air, a sense of camaraderie that made the space between you feel comfortable and open. You continued sharing stories, moving seamlessly from one experience to the next.
The conversation began to slow, the easy flow of stories fading into a comfortable silence, as you both shared an unspoken understanding. The light laughter that had filled the room now felt like a warm, lingering hum between you.
Drew shifted slightly in his chair, his gaze turning toward you with a subtle, thoughtful expression. âYou know,â he began, his voice softer now, âI really hope we get to work together sometime. I think itâd be incredible. Itâs the kind of thing where I can already imagine what itâd be like. Just... easy, real. Like this.â
Your heart skipped a beat at his words, but you kept your composure, offering a smile that spoke volumes. âIâd love that. If you receive a call from your manager these days⊠maybe I had something to do with it, so be prepared.â
The air between you both was charged, the quiet intensity of the moment not lost on either of you. There was something unspoken, something deeper that neither of you addressed outright but that seemed to hang there all the same. The connection was undeniable, yet it lingered in the silence, unspoken, but clear.
Drew finally broke the spell with a playful grin, his eyes flicking back to yours. âOh, Iâll be ready. Canât wait to see what magic we create together.â
You returned his smile, your heart racing ever so slightly, though you kept it hidden behind the ease of your words. âIâm sure itâll be something incredible.â
As the interview wrapped up, there was a lingering sense of something unspoken between you both, an attraction that neither of you had to mention but was so clearly felt. The kind of connection that could only be hinted at, but would never truly fade. It was the kind of moment that would stay with both of you long after the cameras stopped rolling.
âThank you,â you said softly as the final moments of the interview started to loom, your voice carrying a depth that reflected everything unsaid between you. âThis has been amazing. Honestly, it feels like weâve been talking for hours, and yet it still doesnât feel like enough.â
He nodded, his expression soft but genuine. âI feel the same way. This has been one of the most honest and open conversations Iâve had in a long time.â
The crew began to pack up, signaling that the interview was at its end, but neither of you seemed in any hurry to break the moment. The usual chatter and movement around you felt distant, as if the two of you were in your own world for just a little longer.
âYou know,â Drew said, his voice quieter now, a hint of sincerity threading through, âI think we make a pretty good team even just sitting here talking. Imagine what we could do with a whole script.â
Your smile softened, and you nodded, the words feeling right, but the undertone of something moreâsomething unsaidâhung in the air. âYeah, I think weâd be unstoppable.â
The moment stretched between you both, filled with the kind of comfortable tension that comes when you realize youâve shared something real. Something that felt like it could turn into something more.
You both stood up, a final, lingering moment before the usual goodbye. Drew extended a hand, his gaze holding yours a beat longer than necessary.
âTake care, okay?â he said, his voice warm, like the words carried more than just a polite farewell.
You shook his hand, the warmth of his touch lingering just a moment longer than expected. âYou too, Drew,â you replied, your voice soft yet carrying an undercurrent of meaning that mirrored his own.
As you turned to gather your things, you couldnât help but glance back over your shoulder. He was still standing there, watching you with that same thoughtful expression, his hands casually tucked into his pockets. The faintest smile curved his lips, as if he were replaying the conversation in his mind.
âSee you around,â he called out, the words simple but loaded with promise.
âYeah,â you said, meeting his gaze one last time. âSee you around.â
Walking away, you felt a peculiar lightness, as though something intangible had shifted, leaving you both exhilarated and curious. It wasnât every day you met someone who made you feel seen in such a profound way, and as you left the studio, you found yourself smiling, a quiet hope blooming in your chest.
And for a fleeting second, you allowed yourself to wonder what could come next.

# DREW STARKEY â LIVE TALK SHOW
ÖŽÖ¶àœàœČàŒàœàŸ ââââàšà§ââââ drewâs first time on a talk show, which just so happens to be jimmy fallonâs and heâs known for scheming. he surprises drew starkey with his celebrity crush. which just so happens to be you.
ÖŽÖ¶àœàœČàŒàœàŸ â pairing: actress!reader x drew starkey !
authorâs note: please show some love, also this is my first time posting on here, and i don't know how good my one-shots are. enjoy!
word count : 1.8k
you were known for being one of the most famous actresses sought after. theyâd been right for it, your acting was phenomenal. as much fame as you had, you never really let it get to your head, knowing where you had come from was the most important thing to you.Â
not only that but you were also known for the activist and humanitarian organizations youâd created or supported alongside other celebrities, like angelina jolie, phoebe tonkin, daniel craig, etc.
so when daniel craigâs managers reached out to you it wasnât a big surprise, apparently they had been reached out to by a talk show if they could invite you along as well. knowing daniel was more than glad to pass the invitation along, you accepted.Â
you wondered why theyâd want you there seeing as queer had just premiered, and that had nothing to do with you
â
drew had been nervous, heâd be on a talk show, but nonetheless he was a wreck. it took him forever to decide what heâd be wearing, ultimately deciding on a charcoal grey, and white tux with a black tie. he hoped his outfit would be fine for the show.
as he waited backstage for his introduction he paced around nervous, spinning his gold ring on his finger, an anxious tic he had.Â
before he knew it, he heard jimmy fallon, âladies and gentleman, letâs welcome the man everyone's been talking about, heâs rising to fame, the one and only drew starkey!â he announced as drew walked out and shook hands with the bodyguard on his way to the main set.Â
hearing the loud cheers and roars of everyone was amazing and he couldn't help but be shook to his core, never in a hundred years would he have expected this.Â
he waved to everyone as he made his way over to jimmy and shook his hand, before he proceeded to sit down in one of the couches.
âso drew weâre glad you accepted our invitation, isnât that right?â jimmy asked the audience, before they all roared in agreement.
âiâm honored, thank you for inviting me.â drew replied confidently, knowing he was nervous inside.
âso we know youâve been chasing gold for about four years, and now youâre in a queer relationship with daniel craig, james bond, which has premiered if iâm correct?â jimmy asked, knowing the answer but trying to build up the conversation.
âyes, out in theatres about a week ago.â drew replied.Â
âhow did that transition work, you know, from filming a show where you donât really have a romantic relationship until recently to a full blown queer relationship?â jimmy asked curiously.
âhonestly, a bit overwhelming and a lot of anxiety from my part. not more so because of the transition but just because i knew i had to ace this role. getting the opportunity to work alongside daniel craig and for luca guadagnino was truly the opportunity of a lifetime. whatever time it was, i knew i had to give it my all. sometimes i doubted my performance but daniel helped me and gave me advice whenever i needed it,â drew replied, while he felt himself relaxing a bit as he got comfortable enough to share personal details.
âthere was even a time where,â drew began before lightly biting his lip amused at the story daniel shared with him, before continuing, âdaniel told me of an experience he had with another co-star. basically when you first film scenes and most of all when theyâre scenes like we were filming, the first day on set really is just practice. not reading lines, but actually practicing how certain scenes will go. in our case mature scenes were what we focused on at the beginning seeing as weâd be testing out our chemistry.â
âanywho the point is that once we were literally in the middle of a bed scene, nothing too explicit, and daniel chuckled when i fucked up a line because instead of saying âwe canât be doing thisâ i said âwe shanât be doing this.â he literally rolled out of bed and said he had to take a breather, i was confused, i mean we fuck up lines sometimes but never enough to call break,â drew explained.
âyeah normally that doesnât happen, i wouldâve been nervous,â jimmy commented.
drew laughed and nodded his head, before continuing, âi was dying of anxiety in the inside, i was like did i fuck up this badly. and i guess daniel could see it written on my face, which is when he walked over and explained how in his last role the same thing had happened with his co-star. and i couldnât help but let out a sigh of relief and literally said, âthank fuckâ to which he laughed at as he walked away to get a water.â
jimmy let out a chuckle at the ending of his story, and said, âoh my god i wouldâve died of laughter too.âÂ
drew nodded as he swiped his backhand on his nose, a reflex of his, before replying âyeah i definitely wouldâve too but honestly i was too nervous at the time, now i think back on it and laugh about it.â
âactually there was something i was looking forward to, with you here, letâs show this clip,â jimmy said motioning towards the tv for the audience.
before they knew it, drew was being interviewed by a reporter who asked who his celebrity crush was, ây/n y/lnâ he answered without falter.
as the video ended drew couldnât help but let out a chuckle and turned to jimmy while he began, âis that still true?âÂ
drew knew the answer to that, and nodded, âyeah it is,â he replied confidently.
âwe have a surprise for you if you look at the monitor,â jimmy said before motioning towards the tv.
if the world could swallow drew up whole, heâd let it. at that moment. because then and there on the tv, where times heâd stated his celebrity crush was y/n to interviewers and it was playing in chronological order.
as the video ended jimmy looked at him and playfully asked, âanything to comment?âÂ
drew couldnât help but cover his mouth with one hand before sliding it down to reply, âgenuinely thatâd be mine if i could somehow reach her.â
âwell who knows maybe one day you will,â jimmy commented supportively.
âunless i get the courage to actually dm her, itâll be a pending matter,â drew replied.
âwhy the need for a dm? iâm right here,â you said after making your way quietly behind him signaling the audience to not spoil it.
at that moment, drew froze up, and instantly rose up from his seat but slowly turned around, not knowing if it was real.
as he slowly turned, you waved at him and slightly giggled at his nervous reaction. you waited for him to say something before you said anything else.
as you stood there waiting, drew finally caught a grip and let his charm play out even if he was a train wreck inside.Â
âiâm drew starkey,â he introduced, stammering quite a bit.Â
âi know,â you replied smiling.
hearing that drewâs brows rose in confusion, he didnât expect that. he was a nobody and you were everything.
âi was invited to your premiere but i ended up in the er or else i wouldâve been there, apologies,â you said, genuinely honest.
drew was lost for words, yet jimmy asked him, âdrew you still there or are you too starstruck?âÂ
âmhm,â drew nodded, not necessarily indicating which one but they could all guess.
he couldnât get over the fact youâd just apologized for not attending his premiere, gosh he was literally about to faint before he talked to himself in his head âget your shit together before you scare herâ which he proceeded to do, and extended his hand for her to shake.
ânone of that, my mama taught me better than thatâ you replied before walking closer to him and pulling him into a hug.
drew couldnât believe this was happening but reacted fast enough to not make it seem awkward for the audience, at least that's what he hoped and reciprocated the hug. wrapping his hands around your body.
as they pulled apart, you walked up to jimmy and shook his hand seeing as there was a literal desk between you both and greeted him.Â
âjimmy itâs been a while,â you commented.
âglad to have you back on here,â jimmy replied genuinely.
ânow that weâre dealing with a starstruck man, we actually have a few live questions, if you donât mind answering them?â jimmy asked.
âof course, ask away,â she replied amused, wanting to know what was being asked.
jimmy read from his phone, âhow does it feel to be drew starkeyâs celebrity crush?â
âwell honestly, and i quote, from the man himself, âiâm honored,ââ you replied knowing drew was known for his replies of being honored.
next to you drew couldnât help but smile amused knowing he said that quite a lot, he hadnât been lying he really was honored. but to hear that you were honored he thought of you a certain way, well that was the most fucking honored heâd be in his life. before, now, or after.
âwhat do you think of drew starkey and his roles?â jimmy asked, reading off the second question being asked by the audience.
âwell honestly, iâm definitely an outer banks fan. iâm glad heâs finally getting the recognition he deserved, iâve been there since season one, people now are barely catching on,â you started.
as you replied, drew couldnât help but feel touched at what you were saying. he really had just risen to fame this past year, with the new season of outer banks even though heâd been there since day one of the show.
âiâll admit this new season and the past one that came out, i couldnât help but feel a tad bit jealous that our local psycho was tied up and locked in with someone,â you admitted lightly, chuckling amused.
âfor me this is a situation where i love the actor but hate the character unfortunately, because rafe deserved better, in this season four that came out. sofia betrayed him and genuinely frustrated me,â you explained.
drew couldnât help but feel touched at how you were talking about his character, because it was something heâd poured his heart into.Â
âone last question for both of you before we go,â jimmy asked before a drum roll sound came on to build anticipation.
âhave we created a successful cupid match?â jimmy asked, to which the audience cheered, curious as well.
at that moment both drew and you gazed into each other's eyes, âonly time will tell,â you answered truthfully, âbut maybe weâll get thereâ you tried to communicate that through your gaze with drew.Â
the cameras cut and now there was a rising to fame actor, holding out his hand for a famous actress to take.Â
and that she did.

Nic at the Norton Graham show highlights (imo)
She was an absolute delightâI loved every single second of it. Funny, charismatic, engaging⊠sheâs just everything!
She mentioned having to rush straight from the Bridgerton set to The Graham Norton Show and even hopping on a motorcycle to get there on time! She's honestly iconic đ€©
Sheâs a big fan of Married at First Sightâshe mentioned it so quickly! Honestly, she loves reality TV in general.
And Shoes⊠More Shoes came up too! She talked about how the idea started, which was super fun. But the real highlight? Watching Nic try to explain The Real Housewives to Daniel Craig and Jesse Eisenbergâabsolutely hilarious!
She talked about being the romantic lead on Bridgerton and having to do intimate scenes, which funnily enough, at 35, she had never done before!
She also mentioned seeing a really beautiful scene in the film Queer that she thought was missing in Bridgerton because itâs so hard to make it look good on screen⊠and she was talking about a blowjob. Iâm deadâsheâs absolutely unhinged and I love her for it!
She shared her experience working on the Doctor Who Christmas special and how overwhelmed she felt when trying to dive into the lore.
Nic joked that she felt like one of those grandparents at weddings who have no clue whatâs going on but are still having the time of their lives. âI didnât know what was going on, but I was loving itâthat was me on set.â
She had these grown men laughing out loud, and it was absolutely hilarious to watch!
She spoke very highly of Penelope and her role in Bridgertonâthough not so much about the yellow dresses, which she hilariously compared to SpongeBob SquarePants, LOL. She also touched on how hard it was to keep the secret that she was Lady Whistledown, as we all know!
She mentioned that the real gossipers on set were the drivers, since theyâre usually the ones who know everything.
She also had her champagne on handâhopefully shutting down certain rumors once and for allâwhile giggling and making sure to include everyone in the conversation.
She just has this enchanting way about her that makes you fall in love with her instantlyđ„°

Why You're Wrong About Rachel Zegler
This is a long post, but there's a lot of context missing from the Rachel Zegler "discourse" that I thought I could add with my history of watching this unfold from the beginning.
The Snow White Thing
You probably know this part. There's a curated video of Rachel going viral, framed to make her seem like she's never seen Snow White, she hates the story, she hates the character, she's ungrateful, and single-handedly ruined Disney's brand. The clips from these videos are not newâ they were released nearly a year ago in September 2022 and nobody cared about them at the time. Why? Because all the full interviews she did that day at the Disney Exo in 2022 showed a young, charming woman who was excited and proud to be cast in an iconic role. The interviews were very well received and it was a non story. Now that it's been edited down and cut together in a malicious way, and the people sharing them are purposefully misquoting her, they've twisted the context. Normally, this would be a non controversy. Even if that video wasn't taken out of context and spliced together to make her seem like she hates the film, most people wouldn't care. The issue is the response to the video.
Let's get this out of the way: Rachel Zegler doesn't hate Snow White. She relayed that she was afraid of the forest scene as a child and didn't revisit it again until after she was cast in the role. She has since then watched it several times and has expressed for YEARS before that interview came out that she was incredibly honored and grateful to be playing such an iconic Disney princess. If you watch the full videos that those clips came from, this comes across immediately to anyone with their own mind. If you hate someone for being scared of something as a child, I don't know what to tell you. If the role was being given to the biggest Snow White fan, you would be correct that she doesn't deserve it. Unfortunately for you, this role requires talent and Rachel has the Golden Globe and critical acclaim from people who matter within the industry (her peers and critics).
You know who does hate their beloved characters in beloved franchises but the general public still applauds them? Harrison Ford, Sean Connery, Daniel Craig, and Robert Pattinson. They've all expressed outright contempt for the roles and the films they were part of, but nobody cared. People had fun with their quotes but they still respected them. Rachel said nothing even closely resembling their remarks, but she's being torn to shreds. Are we seeing a pattern here?
Rachel never said a single bad thing about the character or the animated filmâ she said that it was outdated and that set people over the edge, foaming at the mouth to have her burned at the stake. If you think it would be perfectly fine to have a movie about an abused 14 year old girl run away to play housemaid for a bunch of men, get kissed in her sleep/death by an adult man, and then wake up to fall into his arms in 2024, that's certainly a hot take. If you're against remakes, direct your ire at Disney. But if you truly think that plot would work with young girls today, you're the one who's out of touch. It would do far more harm than good to portray a young woman in that light.
She also never said that there was anything wrong with romance or love. She said that the new Snow White wasn't only dreaming of that. I can't stress enough that this wasn't her decision⊠she was describing the plot of the new film that was written by Greta Gerwig and approved by Disney. There's a prince in the film and he will also have a more developed personality and storyline. If you have a problem with the writing, wait until it comes out so you can write your strongly worded letter to Greta. If you have a problem with the concept in general, take it up with Disney. There's no need for you to be defensive over hurting the legacy of a multi-billion dollar company or a 87 year old cartoon written by a proud racist antisemite. This is the most confusing part of the hate campaign to me because it wasn't even her opinionâ she was literally describing the plot of the film she had nothing to do with. It also isn't a new thing. Disney actors have been promoting their newer films this way for years.
It's perfectly okay to like things that are problematic. It's becoming an issue that we refuse to acknowledge that maybe some things we love are harmful. What we can't do is justify why it's not problematic, and in fact everyone who calls it out is the problem and NOT their precious cartoon. The 1937 Snow White was an amazing feat of animation. It's a classic for a reason. But it was also Hitler's favorite film and was directed by a white supremacist (the one who is "rolling in his grave" due to Rachel's existence, according to his son). Things don't exist in a vacuum and we can't ignore the bad parts.
How We Got Here:
The thing that everyone is missing is the source of this campaign. This started in September of 2020 when transphobic actor Gina Carano made fun of trans people by changing her pronouns to beep/bop.boop. Rachel indirectly called her out by coming to the defense of the trans community.
She never called out Gina by name (though she rightfully could have). Mind you, Rachel's first film hadn't come out yet. Nobody knew who she was outside of those of us who were anticipating West Side Story and were fans of her covers on YouTube. She was a "nobody" in the industry. Take this part with a grain of salt because I can't confirm it, but Gina and her fans directly blame Rachel for her being banned from Twitter. Again, I really don't think that matters as she's harmful to the trans community and shouldn't have a platform. What does matter is that fans of Gina (which, let's be real, are just fans of transphobia) have been stalking Rachel's every move since then. Unfortunately for them, there wasn't much they could use against her other than to call her woke and #snowbrown when she was cast a year later as the Disney princess. The noise has always been there, but unless you were a fan of hers, you probably didn't hear about it. It wasn't until two years after this that they had something else against her.
If you've recently seen a video of Rachel crying circulating that claims to be her reaction to the recent Snow White backlash, it's an old video. It's from a vlog from her youtube channel posted in June 2022. It was in response to these exact same transphobic anti-woke conservatives who thought that they had something when she did an interview on the red carpet of the Shazam premiere. When asked why she joined the DC universe, she responded "I needed a job." It was generally well received by most people who thought it was cute and funny, but those who were waiting in the shadows latched onto it as an excuse to send her death threats.
The video was also about a month after she was invited to present at the 2022 Oscars and was made to seem like she bullied the Academy (as a no name newcomer, mind you) into letting her attend. In reality, a fan left a comment on her Instagram asking what she was wearing to the event. She responded that she wasn't invited but would be rooting for everyone from her couch in her boyfriend's pajamas. It was the public who demanded she get an invite and the Oscar's must have agreed that it was very odd that the lead actress of a film that was nominated for Best Film wouldn't get an invite. Whether it was an oversight on their part or a scheduling issue with Rachel's filming, I truly think there was no malicious intent from either party. Keep in mind, she used to be very active with her fans (she's a huge fangirl of things herself and has always had a strong relationship with her fans) and she wasn't used to her comments becoming articles and national tv segments. This was the first time it happened to her. It appears she learned that she's not just a girl who posts on YouTube anymore and she's going to be put under a microscope for every move she makes. She has since shut down her Instagram comments and rarely interacts with fans outside of liking comments these days because of this.
I know this is long, but I need people to understand where this is all coming from. It didn't just happen out of nowhere. It's an orchestrated campaign built by violent conservatives, and thousands of women who saw Barbie this summer are hopping on the bandwagon to beat another woman into submission because they have a lot of internalized misogyny to deal with. She's not smug, you just hate women. It's okay to find people annoying, but it's valuable to look into why you think that. If you see a confident young woman expressing views that don't actually harm anyone and you think she needs to be "humbled" and "put in her place" by the entire internet dogpiling her, you've lost your mind. Using "body language experts" (fake job) to diagnose her as a psychopath is so vile. Everytime someone mentions her name online, the comments beneath it are full of the most violent, misogynistic, racist things I've ever seen. If you're contributing to that, you've chosen your side. Reevaluate or seek help.
I'm tired of seeing this happen to young women. We let this happen to Jennifer Lawrence, Brie Larson, Millie Bobby Brown, Halle Bailey, and Jenna Ortega. It's one thing to call out celebrities and hold them accountable when they're doing something actively harmful, but that's not what this is about. That's never been what this is about. We pick these girls to pieces and examine them and pull them apart to justify our hatred of young women who rise to success too quickly for our liking. We dogpile and try to stamp out the flame before they burn too bright. Barbie is still in theaters and you all loved it, yet you're demanding that a bright girl with a big future be small and submissive and humbled because you have issues. That's not feminism. You're just the girls who would have bullied Weird Barbie for using her hands too much when she talks.
#rachel zegler#snow white#disney#barbie#rachelzegler#there's also misinformation about her standing up for ansel elgort which isn't true#sorry but she hates that man#you're thinking about ariana debose who defended him#we'll get into that later

CARMEN SANDIEGO CHARACTERS + MOVIES
Boo I felt like making headcanons again bc I spend more time wondering what these assholes do in their free time than I do on my job
CARMEN
Didnât have access to movies growing up so Player, Zack, and Ivy have been catching her up on the most popular ones
HORRIBLE to watch with. Doesnât really understand âsuspension of disbeliefâ as a concept and will ask stupid questions the whole time. Player almost ended their friendship because she nitpicked Lord of the Rings for being âunrealisticâ
Enjoys low stakes 2000s girl chick flicks like mean girls and legally blonde. She has enough stress in her life man she just wants to relax
HATES heist movies because of how innacurate they are. Team Red has taken to watching them JUST to hear her pick them apart
PLAYER
Sci-fi/fantasy junkie. Anything and everything that has aliens/magic and shitty practical effects from the 80âs/90âs he is all over
Has never said a single kind thing about the Star Wars franchise in his life. They are his favourite movies of all time
ADORES Edgar Wright and has slowly been converting Team Red to his movies. Zack loved Baby Driver. Ivy loved Shaun of the Dead. Shadowsan loved Hot Fuzz. He considers Scott Pilgrim the pinnacle of Canadian cinema
Cannot STAND the amount of remakes happening in Hollywood recently
ZACK
Canon enjoyer of blockbuster action movies. Everyone dreads the nights when he gets to choose a film bc his taste is so generic
Does not know what the Snyder cut is. Thank god
His only redeeming quality is a love of early dreamworks. Will not stop quoting Madnagascar
Has seen every Marvel movie and thinks all of them are good. Player has BEGGED him to watch better movies but he wonât. Heâs the type to rag on Scorsese for being âboringâ
Has seen Kevin Feigeâs extended filmography. Does not know who that man is
IVY
Horror fanatic
Banned from choosing movies for film night after convincing them to watch her âfavourite lesbian romcomâ with her. That lesbian romcom was Saw
Ellen Ripley was not only her personal hero but also her gay awakening. The Xenomorph queen was her second gay awakening
Also loves period dramas. Enjoys the tiddies and knows she would look SO good in those fancy waistcoats the men wear
Watches old slashers with Carmen and laugh whenever someone dies in a stupid way
SHADOWSAN
Faculty considered movies âlow browâ entertainment so he hasnât seen a movie made before the year 2000
Loves a good mob flick. Got into Scorsese specifically because Zack hated him. Goodfellas is his favourite
Everyone assumes he enjoys samurai movies but he actually HATES them. Hideo would ramble about historical inaccuracies the whole way through and heâs still bored just thinking about it
Used to love Yakuza films back in the day but they were soured for him after actually living as one
Loved Knives Out, found Daniel Craig VERY attractive, and has since fallen down the James Bond rabbit hole
CHASE
The most pretentious film hack youâve ever met in your life. He is taking you to a back alley screening of some arthouse eastern european gay porn on a first date and it will be the most profound thing youâve ever seen in your life
Detective noir movies and cheesy black and white romances are his favourites. He likes falling asleep to them
He and Player both appreciate animation as a form of cinema, but while Player is referring to like. the Mario movie, Chase is talking about some 3 minute Russian stopmotion surrealist piece from 1951. He attends Annecy every year and has been banned from the Oscars due to threats of violence
He likes Poirot tho. Transmasc king
JULIA
If she has a few hours to herself sheâd rather watch a documentary than go to a movie theatre, but she loves historical dramas
Enjoys biopics but thinks itâs stupid to make them for people who are alive
Likes watching movies for the sake of trash talking them, so she is the only person who can tolerate sitting through one with Carmen
LOVES Wes Anderson though. Chase got her into his stuff and the symmetry scratches an itch in her brain. But donât tell him that
Also enjoys period dramas for the tiddies
CHIEF
Shitty cop movie enjoyer. The kind of person who insists that Die Hard is her favourite christmas movie
LOVES heist movies because of how inaccurate they are. Will mentally nitpick whatever secret service is going after them and be like âACME wouldnât do that lolâ
Sheâs semi aware that sheâs the antoagonist in Carmenâs own heist narrative so sheâs started having fun with it
Closet lover of b-tier comedy movies. Like the ones with Adam Sandler and Kevin Hart on the cover
Does not enjoy watching movies socially. That is quality time for her and her cat. She does not have to shush Commander

If I can defend Knives Out as being actually not that boring of a pick: Maybe genre wise itâs referencing classic detective stories, but! Thereâs still things about it that would be fun to reimagine in a vintage setting
Casting is the big one; because for me itâs not just that the all star cast, itâs the mix of types of actors. A few younger actors who arenât really household names; a few people who are currently enjoying a big wave of popularity/are in other really big projects; extremely well respected actors who most people know; and extremely well respected veteran actors who also arenât necessarily household names. Like you cover pretty much the whole range with the film. So it presents a fun challenge of not only having to cast for character type, but seeing if you canât match actor type, too.
And then thereâs Blanc specifically- for me, itâs not just about picking someone who would be a fun classic PI character, but trying to find someone who matches Daniel Craigâs specific relationship to the character- is there an equivalent person who is just coming out of/about to come out of being a bit type cast in a somewhat serious, not all that emotive, action-star role who gets a chance through this to loosen up, have fun, and show they also have great comedic chops and character-work abilities?
The other big component for me is that Knives Out and Glass Onion both have some relevant social commentary/issue running as an undercurrent to the murder mystery. Both deal with issues of class, but then KO has Martaâs status as an undocumented immigrant be an important theme throughout, and GO has its take on an Elon Musk type (among other modern archetypes). So what specific contemporary issue(s) are we picking for vintage Knives Out? And how will that affect what our hypothetical movieâs plot and cast looks like?
this ask is making me weep because a movie with âa few younger actors [and] a few people who are currently enjoying a big wave of popularity/are in other really big projects; extremely well respected actors who most people know; and extremely well respected veteran actors who also arenât necessarily household namesâ and a lead actor playing the detective who gets to âhave fun, and show they also have great comedic chops and character-work abilitiesâ already existsâMurder on the Orient Express from 1974 is one of my favorite movies ever and is apparently now required viewing for this blog. Itâs got Lauren Bacall! Ingrid Bergman! Wendy Hiller! John Gielgud! Anthony Perkins! Michael York! Jacqueline Bisset! And Albert Finney eating the shit out of the scenery as Hercule Poirot. It is SUCH a good time and will hit so many of the Knives Out buttons for so many of you. (Admittedly it does not have the same style of social commentary as a Knives Out film, though just like in Christieâs novel it is crucial that the travelers on the train represent diverse intersections of class, and a major touchstone is how justice is meted out based on wealth, class, and who makes those choices.)
Anyway please watch Murder on the Orient Express (1974).
#asks#murder on the orient express#anyone who mentions David Suchet is thrown out the window I ONLY accept bizarre Poirots with 0 naturalism

Do you have good recommendations for AgeRe stories? Something really cute and fluffy? (I'm a lonely regressor and I love reading stories about really sweet caregivers.)
I do!! I adore reading agere fics, so here are some recs! I hope you enjoy!!! đ
Gen:
Decontamination by SailorChibi - Marvel - Baby!Tony and CG!Steve - After a battle, Steve takes care of his baby - (This one is a Classification!AU/Littles are Known!AU... like, one of the very first ones. Very good and fluffy. If you ever read thorough their fics, (tagged NSAP bc agere straight up did not exist as a community yet) you'll start spotting alot of things that other people were/are inspired from.)
Picnic by SailorChibi - Marvel - Baby!Tony, CG!Steve, Middle!Bucky, Toddler!Clint, CG!Coulson, Kiddo!Scott, CG!Sam W., Kiddo!Peter P., CG!Wade, Kid!Wanda, and CG!Vision - All the Avengers have a nice picnic - (classification!au, but a different verse than the previous fic jsyk. this one is suuuuper fluffy and cute and fun <3)
Less than Five by SailorChibi - Daniel Craig's James Bond - Little!Q and CG!Bond - Q regresses smaller than usual; his daddy makes sure he's taken care of - (classification!AU, first of a series. first two fics are pretty fluffy, but the third has some angst, which makes the fluff even sweeter, in my opinion)
coffee makers and bumblebees by orchidsncrake - Daredevil - Little!Matt and CG!Foggy - Matt becomes overstimulated and after an altercation with the office's coffee maker, Foggy is there to make everything better
Small surprises by undergroundrice - Daredevil - Little!Matt and CG!Foggy - Foggy stumbles onto Matt regressing, and together they figure it out
A Second Shot by mylittlestories - MCU - Little!Natasha, Little!Clint, and CG!Coulson - Natasha didn't have much of a childhood. When she sees that having a second one is possible, she wants; Coulson and Clint are happy to make her family :) - (This one is unfinished, but what's there is just so nice I have to include it!!)
Give your Dreams the Wings to Fly by Honey_Dewey - FNAF Movie - Little!Matt and CG!Ness - Mike gets sick at work, but his boyfriend is there to make everything okay
the road to hope and adventures into the unknown (target) by romansprince - Barbie (2023) - Little!Ken, then CG!Barbie and CG!Gloria - Ken has become human... except he's never had a childhood. Sometimes he feels Fuzzy, but that's something he thinks he can keep secret. As he turns out, he can't, but it works out anyway - (Two separate fics that take place in the same universe/series. The first one/set-up is a little angsty, but the second is more fluffy)
Movie Night by mcschnuggles - Heathers - Little!JD and CG!Veronica - JD unexpectedly drops into headspace during a movie night with the rest of the teenagers; Veronica helps him through it - (Modern!AU, Everyone Lives!AU, this one is kinda angsty, but like, it's canon appropriate, lol - also!!! make sure that you check out the author's other works!!!!! lots of agere fics for a large variety of fandoms!!)
Toffee Ticking Time Bomb by GayCheerios - Star Wars - Little!Anakin and CG!Obi-Wan - Obi-Wan has to find his padawan's stuffie before the inevitable temper tantrum ensues - (classification!AU, part of a very nice and good series that, if you enjoy this fic, you should also check out)
Baby's First Bath by CyberToddler - Beetlejuice: The Musical - Toddler!Beetlejuice and CG!Maitlands - The Maitlands give Beetlejuice his very first bath - ( đđ I wrote this one đ)
Evolution by Cgetbrmj - The Last of Us (TV) - Little!Ellie and CG!Joel - Series that follows each episode of the show, and explores how these characters stumble upon age regression as a coping mechanism and how much they both realize they enjoy it. - (Slowburn agere, as it explores how it develops naturally between both characters. This one DOES contain some angst as it relates to the show, but overall is as fluffy as its setting allows)

On March 9, 2023, an insider known as "The V Scooper" on twitter revealed that a sequel of DreamWorks' The Bad Guys is in development. He even provided some extra plot details of the movie, which closely resembles that of the official synopsis. Although he commented that some plot points may change in the final version of the script, since that was still early on in production.
NEW (Sep 21, 2024): An accidental leak from the official website filmsrating.com revealed there will be a theatrical short of The Bad Guys related to the sequel, titled"The Bad Guys: Little Lies & Alibis".
NEW (Oct 19, 2024): Listings from Universal Switzerland seem to confirm that the title"Little Lies & Alibis" is that of the sequel itself, rather than the previously thought theatrical short related to the sequel. However that may be a mistake, since more listings shows that there's indeed a short related to the sequel.

I realised my passion for crossover has just created a multiverse of, I don't fucking know, detectives and supernatural stuff (no, it's NOT superwholock)
So we start by assuming, like some already did, that Q from the Daniel Craig's James Bond movies is the fourth Holmes's siblings. So you get four Holmes: Mycroft, Sherlock, Eurus and Q. But then Q in clearly in a romantic relationship with James Bond.
Now it's undeniable that James Bond has a twin brother, Benoit Blanc, who is the world's most famous detective, and he is married to Philip (Hugh Grant). You can clearly notice from Benoit's...everything (passion for mistery and fasion sense most of all) that he is related to Fred Jones from Scooby Doo, he and Philip are in fact Fred's parents.
To conclude this part of multiverse of hyperfixation, James Bond exists in the same world of a bunch of teenagers with 1970's van and a talking dog. I cannot stress how important it is for me that Sherlock Holmes DOES NOT solve the mustery of why Scooby Doo can talk.
But let's now expand in a different direction.
For some of you who might not be acquainted with the medical drama House MD, it's one of the gayest shows ever made on God's green earth. And, as all the fans know, the REAL finale is House and Wilson running away together after all Wilson's problems suddenly disappeared (I am phrasing it like that because I don't want to spoil it). Now, of course they can't live in America because House can't exactly recover from his own Reichenbach falls, so obviously they have go to London. Like, no questions asked.
And as many have already speculated they are probably the married couple Mrs Hudson's friend was renting an apartment to.
Sherlock-Watson and House-Wilson have a complicated dynamic going on, I just know they suspect of eachothers because there's something wrong with the other couple.
London comes, of course, with all it inhabitants, such as Crowley and Aziraphale (whose supernatural presence could explain Scooby Doo being able to talk???? Maybe he is an ex-infernal hound sent to Shaggy??? Was Shaggy another aborted attempt at an Antichrist?????). I really likes to believe they're House-Wilson and Sherlock-Watson neighbours. And every one of these three couples tries to pretend they're a very normal couple, and not, like, non-human or a Government's resource or technically dead.
But also, you must not forget, London comes with Hob Gadling, the immortal lover of Sandman, who might as well exist in this universe, because why the fuck not, he stole the "meet every x years" idea from Crowley, the goddamn poser. Hob Gadling and Crowley clocked eachothers in a minute and now the two couples have dinners together because "they're the only other supernatural couple in the neighbourhood, we should befriend them!" (said Aziraphale and Hob while Crowley and Morpheus sighed).
ALSO to House MD fans I want to remind you that Wilson got arrested in Louisiana when he met House and there's a popular headcanon going on that Benoit Blanc is from Louisiana so do you think??? Benoit Blanc one day happened to interact with the police department of a city in Louisiana and a policeman was like "hey last week you missed a guy from New Jersey who deadass smashed an ancient mirror in a bar because they were playing a song he didn't like on the jukebox". And Benoit was like (I can't write his dialogues I am so sorry) "Mmhh yeah muhst say thur arh sum jingles I simply cannut grow fund of but by Guhd to,,, smash an ancient mirruh that wuld be bee-YOnd mahself"
And these connections are all canonical in my mind. (There are crossover fanfics between Good Omens and Sandman, and between House and BBC Sherlock, and between Sherlock and the James Bond franchise, and between House and Good Omens- there's a fic I really like with these fandoms- and there's a drawing I also reblogged on Tumblr of Fred presenting Benoit Blanc as his dad).
So, basically, in my head, Sherlock is highly pissed off by Benoit Blanc being considered the best detective in the world though he respects him, Q is Fred Jones's uncle and probably added a lot of cool MI6 features to the mystery machine, Gregory House, notorious atheist, lives in the same universe of angels and demons and the Sandman and pisses off Sherlock Holmes costantly just because they don't like eachothers, Hob Gadling amd Crowley looked at eachothers once and they knew neither of them were humans, Aziraphale and Crowley always stumble in every other characters' shenanigans and once in a while throw a miracle their way and Hugh Grant/Philip makes cupcakes for everyone.
And if you really want me to be precise, Dead Poet Society lore counts for Wilson, but Neil didn't, well, if you saw the movie you know.
And I know they are technically not correlated, but I would love to find a way to connect Dirk Gently, Todd Brotzman and The Rowdy Three in all this.
There's a part 2 to this post here

Hi there. I'm looking for people to be long term friends with preferably in the United States. I say that cuz I'm from the South East United States. Plus, people more suited to my age. I'm 31. Also, want someone that's settled down too. I love peaky blinders a lot. Favorite character from that show is Thomas Shelby. Really love Cillian Murphy, Daniel Craig, and Oppie a lot. Other thing I rp too, but mainly as Oppie, Daniel Craig, and Thomas Shelby. My style of rp is freestyle to literate. Topics of Rps I enjoy are hurt/comfort, smut, bdsm, and happiness. In bdsm rp I prefer to be dominant. Topics I don't prefer is sadness and death.
I prefer someone that can talk about more than just one topic cuz that turns me away. I like to talk about anything. Also, I have anxiety, emotional empath or empath in general and highly sensitive person. I want someone that's aware and understanding of that.
I write once in a blue moon, but only on ao3 though. I enjoy making edits, headers, and collages for Cilly, Thomas Shelby, Daniel Craig, and Oppie.
I hope that someone out there takes the time to read this post because I'd like to have more friends than what I have now. I don't want a friend that's going to be false, catfish, or a predator. I want a friend that's good and sincere.

JAMES BOND REFERENCES IN MORIARTY THE PATRIOT
I am a big fan of James Bond since my early teenage years. I watched every movies and read all books, so when the Moriarty the Patriot manga first started using James Bond references, I basically screamed. And my voice got 100x louder when the iconic My name is Bond. James Bond. scene happened.
I always wanted to write an analysis of YuuMori's James Bond connections, so now here we are.
First, let's talk a bit about the actual James Bond universe. The character of James Bond - the MI6 agent numbered 007 with a license to kill - got created by Ian Fleming in 1953. He first appeared in the novel called Casino Royale. Fleming wrote 12 novels and two short story collections with the character. The novels soon got movie adaptations, too, the first James Bond movie was Dr. No in 1962, where Sean Connery played Bond. Currently there are 25 Bond movies.
The James Bond movies can be classified into eras by the actor who played Bond. In order, these follow:
Sean Connery
(George Lazenby - but everyone tends to pretend this movie never happened)
Roger Moore
Timothy Dalton
Pierce Brosnan
Daniel Craig
The movies didn't come out in chronological order when it comes to James Bond's life-happenings. Most movies can be watched as stand-alones - but the Daniel Craig era tried to built up a storyline, where the movies are tied to each other. The James Bond movies always have an iconic intro, sing by a popular singer of the current era (the last movie's intro song was by Billie Eilish.)
The James Bond movie universe started to fuse with the Sherlock Holmes universe thanks to the Alan Moore comic book series, The League of Extraordinary Gentleman (1999). Professor Moriarty appeared here as M - the title what later ended up with Mycroft. The Elementary series (and somewhat BBC Sherlock) continued this tendency, featuring Mycroft as someone who has ties to the MI5/MI6.
Professor Moriarty in TLoEG
The Moriarty the Patriot series features most characters who are important in James Bond movies. They are..
M - the leader of the MI6, which role was fullfilled by Albert and Louis.
Q - the inventor who keeps coming up with weapons and cars for James Bond. In YuuMori, Q is Von Herder, the blind mechanic mentioned in the Empty House Conan Doyle story.
Ms. Moneypenny - a secretary working personally for M. In the Daniel Craig era, she started as a field agent, but later moved to do office work. James Bond always gives her flowers and little souvenirs.
When it comes to James Bond, his personality in Moriarty the Patriot is similar to the canon one: loving good cars and guns, flirting with woman (especially Moneypenny) and while it's not vodka martini he orders in the pub when he met with Patterson, he asks for the drink shaken, not stirren. (On the other hand, the Macallan scotch he asks for is a reference to what James Bond drank in the Skyfall movie.)
The location of the MI6 in YuuMori is also similar to the James Bond movies: underground and underwater in the Thames.
The headquarter in Skyfall
The Q-sector
The Man with the Golden Army arc features other references for the James Bond universe. The arc's title refers to the movie/book The Man with the Golden Gun (Roger Moore-era) - the two stories only similarity is that both deal with special guns. In that arc, Sebastian Moran takes on the identity of the 006, Alec Trevelyan. The character originally appeared in the Goldeneye James Bond movie (Pierce Brosnan-era) played by Sean Bean. He had the number 006 and he was the mentor of James Bond (like Moran later on). He seemingly got killed off at the start of the movie (but later returned as a villain).
Alec Trevelyan in Goldeneye
Maybe not an intentional reference, but still interesting: the James Bond movie Tomorrow Never Dies features an evil media mogul, Elliot Carver as a villain who likes orchestrating catastrophic incidents so his newspaper can be the first to write about them, manipulating people that way and gaining control in the media - kind of similar to Milverton (yes, the media mogul Milverton thing is from Sherlock, but still), who was the mastermind behind the Jack the Ripper murders then manipulated the public through the news he created. (I can actually see him orchestrating incidents in order to gain more power and become the King of Media, too.)
Elliot Carver in Tomorrow Never Dies
We've yet to see the main villain of James Bond: Ernst Stavro Blofeld, (first appearing in the Thunderball book) the head of the crime organization called Spectre. I wander when he will appear in YuuMori, if they appear at all, but I really wish!
I hope in the next stories YuuMori's James Bond world keeps expanding - that's such an interesting aspect of the series, I love to see more references!

for the cinephile byler truthers. i made the partyâs modern au letterboxd accounts
in my head mike wheeler is the film bro cinephile of the party. hes a big brad pitt fan and fincher is his favorite director if you even care.. dirty dancing would be in his top 4 if he was honest. he went to see dune cause hes a scifi nerd, ended up hating it so much and complained about it to will but still gave it 2 stars cause it was pretty. did leave a very mean review. very critical rater but mostly leaves high ratings because he just doesnât watch things he doesnt wanna see.
alternative movies i considered putting: pulp fiction (5 stars), the killer (1 star), se7en (5 stars), across the spiderverse (5 stars), nope (5 stars) , the batman 2022 (4 stars), once upon a time in hollywood (5 stars), inglorious basterds (5 stars), the matrix (half a star)
the thing is so good and he has a poster of it on his wall in canon so it felt right. it just feels wrong not to do ghostbusters (plus its one of my favorite moviesâŠ) and yall need to hear me out on brokeback đđđ ur telling me he wouldnt bawl his eyes out??? ur wrong. will byers is a jake gyllenhaal lover. he watches dirty dancing a lot for mike, and loves ghibli movies a lot. he cried during rain man. honest rater but doesnt take it too seriously, mostly 4/5 star ratings
alternatives: saltburn (half a star), asteroid city (5 stars), blackkklansman (5 stars), the force awakens (3.5 stars), the perks of being a wallflower (4.5 stars), back to the future (5 stars)
rogue one because lucas has taste. its the best star wars movie, if u care. he would love how fun and goofy ghostbusters 2 is. in my head Wes Anderson is like the partyâs claimed director and they all watch his movies together and do marathons because the weirdness, comedy, and emotional commentary is a perfect mix for them. so. bottle rocket. lucasâ favorite wes anderson is the grand budapest hotel if u wanted to know. he rates things pretty highly and isnât super critical.
alternatives: dodgeball (5 stars), scream 5 (4 stars), the matrix (3 stars), good will hunting (5 stars), jurassic park (5 stars), die hard (5 stars),
likes making lucas watch gone girl on valentines day and telling him shes gonna do that to him next time he annoys her. v for vendetta is her favorite romance movie and shes a big marvel fan (in a cool way. kind of .) but thor ragnarok is probably one of her fav marvels, along with spiderman far from home and iron man. i just know she watches Casino Royale and decided she hated James Bond and then ended up watching all the Daniel Craig Bonds with Mike and loved Skyfall so much. the song is on her playlist and she did cry after No Time To Die.
Alternatives: Superbad (5 stars), baby driver (5 stars), bottoms (5 stars), 10 things i hate about you (3.5 stars), scream (5 stars), kill bill (5 stars), lord of the rings: the return of the king (1.5 stars)
also a bit of a film nerd. i considered giving him a star wars and i know in my heart heâd probably have empire somewhere in his top 4. but star wars is lame and i wanted to give him se7en so he fucking gets se7en. he knows john wick is objectively dumb but he doesnt care hes just here for a good time. the party probably watched saltburn together and all fucking hated it. I just know hes a kurosawa nerd and always goes when the local theatres do very rare special showings of his movies.
alternatives: baby driver (4 stars), the ewok adventure (5 stars) hot fuzz (5 stars) harry potter and the sorcerers stone (4 stars) legally blonde (5 stars) spirited away (5 stars) dazed and confused (5 stars)
she likes movies that make her feel all warm and fuzzy and hopeful. i wanted to give her breakfast club, but i think sheâd honestly like sixteen candles more (even though breakfast clubâs better). she cried at almost every movie in her top 4 and makes max rewatch juno with her like once a month. she gives most movies 5 stars unless she really hates them, and loves any movie thats fun to watch, even if its bad. she likes movies with pretty girls and fun colors.
alternatives: barbie (5 stars), legally blonde (5 stars), inception (2 stars), heathers (5 stars) pretty in pink (4.5 stars (she was mad andi didnât end up with ducky)) my neighbor totoro (5 stars)
in conclusion if you havenât seen They Cloned Tyron (2023) go watch it it deserved the oscar
#THIS ONES FOR YOU CINEPHILE ST FANS#this is so self indulgent#i love having fun#ive seen every movie on here so basically im 100% right and theres no room for critique#there should be more star wars. because theyre all nerd#but star wars is so dumb and i wanted to put movies that i like so#literally ignore how low quality the posters all are#i downloaded them directly from letterboxd so#slipped a couple of my niche faves in there#cinephile mike wheeler is real to me.#stranger things#byler#mike wheeler#will byers#max mayfield#lucas sinclair#dustin henderson#el hopper#cinephile byler#cinephile mike wheeler#the party#stranger things headcanons#the party headcanons#stranger things favorite movies#favorite movies#letterboxd#modern au#modern âstranger things

I know I am not the only who makes up an entire fantasy world in their head, with multiple different story lines (I have multiple because I keep changing my mind over which is more dramatic), and mine involves a couple of fandoms including Hannibal (obviously), BBC Sherlock, Sandman, and Dracula and Daniel Craig 007 make a guest appearance when ever I feel like it.
I also have made up some characters, and have recently had to change the name of one of them for their own good, and I keep forgetting and find it weird, because I swapped their name with another made up character.
Do other people do that? Just change character names after a while to sound better or fit the story better? Please tell me others do.
I only changed their name so their partner could give them better nicknames.
