i've litchrally been going crazymode listening to Maintenence Phase, which is my current favorite podcast, and i highly highly recommend it if you like informative podcasts about debunking misinfo around the wellness/health/diet sphere. it's also just really fucking funny, Michael Hobbs and Aubrey Gordon are great hosts and i love their chemistry together. i'd say "if you're a fat person, you gotta listen to this shit" but honestly i don't even need to be that specific, i just think it's good listening in general. like actually, i think skinny people with or without fat friends would greatly benefit from hearing some of these episodes.

its been literally only three sessions but i think perhaps DMing is going to be the end of me. i love being a player in ttrpgs and the depth you can bring to a character that way, but pulling the strings and knowing all the secrets is genuinely addictive for a brain that is constantly swirling with half-baked ideas that cook best with collaboration.

now all i need is for all my players to quit their jobs, move into my flat, and experience my machinations daily.

i think the way u can tell too besides just Knowing that is the missing gem on the forehead; verkis has a gem directly on his forehead thats pretty bright (in both tged and dkc), whereas tyrannus has no gem at all! so this dragon in this ep is absolutely tyrannus,,, i wonder what else he was up to at this time,,, hm hm!!!

oh also,,, the estate citizens reactions to the snow piling on was actually really really sweet,,, they're so cute look at them,,, work hard play hard as they say!!!

i think it's really telling that they're able to play so freely like this even without lloyd's explicit say-so bc ofc, lloyd wouldn't force anybody to work in bad conditions,,, they know when to rest, they know safety like the back of their hands, and they know lloyd wouldn't make them work in a mf blizzard,,, :') true fronterans,,,

i went insane over this on twitter i was so so happy to see this,,, literally the very moment he detects any threat to lloyd, javier just KNOWS. he drops EVERYTHING and IMMEDIATELY RUSHES TO HIS AID. that's so,,,,, THAT'S SO!??!?!?,,,,, ACCUSATORY POINT,,,, I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE.

god i couldn't stop giggling this entire ep. there were so many silly things and shenanigans in this ep while also getting into the start of smth to consider when they're building the railroad (i.e. the issue of construction fucking up the natural mountain/nature around them). i just had a lot of fun overall and i really really like that,,, im very happy :3 YAYYYY YAYYYYY

excited to see what happens next week,,, i really hope they come to a good compromise w the spirit king!!!

unpopular (?) opinion but I don’t like that they kept Warwick’s face pretty anthropomorphic and recognizably Vander’s. i would’ve liked to see him totally unrecognizable to his daughters and the audience, the familiar made entirely unfamiliar

Today was the first warm day of the year, so despite being on the way of getting a full blown cold I went outside and prepared the garden for the upcoming season, had some coffee with my parents and am now all snuggled up in bed for my night reading ♡

one of the reasons i have not consistently done image descriptions historically is that it became an incredibly powerful and overwhelming moral ocd trigger. did i do it right? was i objective enough? what if i can't tell there's already alt text? (this was before there was an alt text button). did i make the punchline land? did i leave out an important detail? did i include too many extraneous details? and then i would get so hung up on these things, or about the fact that i described this image but not that image, or so on and so forth, until it became a stick that i was using to bludgeon myself which is like. not helpful for anyone especially including the people who need descriptions more than i do.*

anyway a big part of the fact that i am trying to do more of them now is largely that i am now psychologically resilient enough to use it as basically moral ocd desensitization for myself. the whole thing i'm doing is just tagging undescribed which has been motivating me to write more descriptions, but also gives me a bail-out clause for if i end up spiraling too hard to click post when i try to describe. and it has been going okay for me.

as an example. a real thought i just had to actively fight in my brain was: "what if it's evil to describe that wizard in the tree as like celestial seasonings illustration" and: 1. he is and i'm right about it. 2. that is an objectively stupid reason to have a meltdown. <- and then i can get over myself.

are you also worried about how luke's betrayal in the show is gonna go? I definitely don't think we've seen enough of him for it to be as impactful in the show as it should be. and there's only 3 episodes left? 😬

yeah I solidly maintain that we should have spent some more time at camp in the show before leaving for the quest to help better establish Luke's dynamic with everyone and make his consequent betrayal more impactful.

Here's some very rough math that no one will care about lol but in the book, we spend about 30% of our time at chb before the quest, in the show we spend about 15% so literally half of the book time. I don't think they should have cut out Luke and Percy's solo lessons and I think they should have had Annabeth interact with Luke for longer than two seconds... even though the show has told me that Luke and Annabeth are family, the one interaction they had read more like, two people who are familiar with each other because they go to the same camp lol. At bare MINIMUM, I would have had Luke send them off on the hill, hug annabeth, encourage them all, gift Percy the shoes, all the jazz. Hell, when show Percy was expressing derision at Thalia's fate it may have even been interesting if Luke had been there, and then agreed with him.

I think next episode we're supposed to get them Iris Messaging so there may be more Luke there. And maybe when the kids return to camp they'll show a bit more Luke before his betrayal? One can hope at least. But that doesn't change the fact that imo they've already dropped the ball a bit on Luke and building up his relationship with the trio, some of them more so than others.
