The Steamboat Willie version of Mickey Mouse is also public domain.

Therefore it is legally possible and canon compliant for Mickey Mouse to defeat Cthulhu.

Gou Tanabe x H.P. Lovecraft

Anybody else collecting these? I find these books really convenient for reading during a plane ride or train ride. I like that they're small enough to carry anywhere.

Currently, I’m reading The Shadow Over Innsmouth and plan to purchase The Call of Cthulhu once it's released. The art is mind-blowing. Gou Tanabe’s ability to capture Lovecraft’s cosmic horror through his illustrations is unmatched. His use of shading and contrast brings an eerie and atmospheric quality to the stories that really draws you in. That said, I do think the size of the books doesn’t always do the art justice - some details are so fine and intricate that they get lost in the smaller format. But like I mentioned, the compact size makes them perfect for reading on the go.

It's well known that Lovecraft was a big influence on Junji Ito, and I've been fascinated with his works for a while. I even bought a full omnibus of all his stories. However, with English being my second language and since I’m also more of a visual person, I prefer seeing horror in graphic form.

I still read horror novels - I own tons of Stephen King and other great horror finds, but when it comes to cosmic and body horror, I prefer seeing it illustrated. Tanabe’s adaptations are perfect for this because they blend the unsettling and strange atmosphere of Lovecraft’s writing with detailed, haunting visuals.

not to excuse the brainwashing or mutiny or anything but i think a good chunk of ken's behaviour can be attributed to having never fucking seen a horse before. all the animals in barbieland are plastic, and even then, theres no horses apart from their toys. can you imagine? id shit myself. mans wouldve gone mad from the revelation. it was probably the ken equivalent of call of cthulhu for him. kenthulu if you will.
