heyyyy its been a while but I have some more aztec mythology head canons regarding the four tezcatlipocas
Ooo okie letsa see
(Yes ik theres more than four but thats bc of the like depends who you ask thing)
Tezcatlipoca: the kind of guy that gets upset if you dont pick up the phone or show up like 2 seconds late for something while never answering the telephone and always showing up late, is thinking miku miku ooeeoo, waluigi on mario kart, rage quit playing knots and crosses with a computer;
Mictlantecuhtli: listens to classical music like its heavy metal and calmly listens to metal like ots classical music, idk why but i think he watches novelas, cinnamon roll, "cant rn, having a tea party with gertrude, shes telling me about her grandkids and how excited she is to see them in dia de los muertos", yoshi in mariokart, the embodiment of that "literally name one thing better than a dog" post if yk what im talking abt;
Quetzacoatl: if he got the golden ticket he would have robbed all of the chocolate in the factory and helped the oompa loompas to make a workers union, toad in mariokart, likes to laugh at conspiracy theories;
Xipe-totec: same vein as mictlantecuhtli with music stuff, great at cooking, baby peach in mariokart, victim of deez nutz jokes;
Huitzilopochtli: do not allow him on the kitchen my man cannot cook for the life of him, "be the reason why the music stops in a videogame", luigi in mariokart, is in the sun deities groupchat and only ever replies with "k." when someone tells him its his turn to be the sun;

ANYWAYS- I don't have much energy in general but I just wanted to drop by and say I had a thought in regards to the rather unique shape of the scar on his forehead in his fate design (which is a reference to the oftentimes more commonly known version of his story that recounts the motif of his death being by dying from his people throwing rocks at him which is the version f.ate seems to have followed) that it's not just there to represent this version of the story but could also be a reference to an iconographic pre-Hispanic attribute from Tezcatlipoca itself that is called the Ezpitzal, which is this:
(though in this piece, Tezca is shown under the guise of Tepeyollotl, it's still tezca) The Ezpitzal is often shown as a stream of blood that emanates from Tezcatlipoca's head. Professor Batalla pointed out that this term also relates to the Nahuatl concept of expressing anger
'it’s worth remembering that Tezcatlipoca was a god notorious for sowing discord and deceit'
So I just thought of how fitting it would be for M.octezuma to have this and how similar it looks to his scar (or well, how fitting it would be to a fictional stylized version of course) as M.octezuma's name is basically a compound of the noun 'lord' and the verb that means 'to frown in anger' which altogether gets interpreted as 'he who frowns like a lord' or 'he who is angry in a noble manner' and well, how this ties back to the Ezpitzal as a symbol that expresses anger
NOW IT COULD just be the shape of his scar and there's no deep meaning behind it but I still think it would be a nice little detail about his design if that was the case (if not then its just me overthinking symbolisms again), not to mention that even after the Spanish conquest took place and how as a consequence, a lot of characteristic traits and symbolisms were lost in regards to images, even then the Ezpitzal was still depicted (though barely there) with these protruding rounded edges
#;about#about#;m.octezuma ii#i am once again going insane about him and about symbolisms and character design#f.go fans about his clothes: lol he's just f.ate's black panther#me: WRONG! WRATH OF HISTORY CULTURE AND SYMBOLISM BUT PORTRAYED IN A MODERN FICTIONALIZED ANIME VERSION OF IMPORTANT FICTIONAL AND HISTO-#-HISTORICAL FIGURES#always important to note that f.ate is fictional interpretation and doesnt seek to portray history or mythology in a 100% historically-#accurate version#at the end of the day; they are all anime pngs#but as a writer and character design enjoyer i just really enjoy putting pieces together and formulating theories#maybe there is no meaning behind it! but as an rp writer its fun; that's really it#also i understand the black panther memes dwdw; being silly rq his outfit does kinda look like a big feline (mask included)#me not being able to shut up ever: WHICH JAGUARS ARE TIED TO TEZCATLIPOCA AND THE COLOR BLACK BEING ASSOCIATED WITH SMOKE AND OBSIDIAN AND-#its just; people complaining that some servants look really random but then its about the subtle details that u would normally not look at#in a general quick glance#I MEAN; sometimes they are just silly like that; but then there's other times where it is there -nods-#do u see my vision-#its like the ends of his scar has these rounded ends like the ezpitzal#they are almost 6 ends as well; let's pretend there are 6#;headcanons#headcanons

I just have to present Mr. Self Destruct for your listening pleasure. It's 30 years old now. And yet, it's one of the best descriptions I've seen these days for social media.
I also personify social media as Tezcatlipoca. He's a consummate liar and trickster, yet also the god of temporal power. He is what you see in the mirror; he's called the Black Smoking Mirror. Is he a bad guy? Yeah, sure. He's also your guide and protector. He's also the jaguar inside yourself. He's what you get when you put together the base instincts of every last person. He's the reason anyone gets to rule. When nations fall, he's why.
What? You're probably reading this from your pocket black smoking mirror right now.

Yet the wind keeps whispering the tale from centuries ago...
Long ago, in the era when gods held dominion over the earth, two brothers stood as the principal deities. Kukulkan, the feathered serpent and god of rain, storms, wind, and life, was adored as the favorite of the Mayan kingdom. Beside him was Tezcatlipoca, the god of night, who harbored jealousy for the offerings bestowed upon his brother, receiving only fear in return.
In a sinister plan, Tezcatlipoca orchestrated a party for Quetzalcoatl, intending to intoxicate him. Succumbing to the beverages, Quetzalcoatl unleashed chaos, awakening the next morning with remorse, departing never to be seen again. Before vanishing, he crafted a dagger from obsidian, imbued with the power to revive the dead. However, only the first person to find the dagger could wield its power, and a ritual was required to become its new host, preventing others from using it.
Yaxkin, Quetzalcoatl's personal sorcerer, uncovered Tezcatlipoca's deceit and, with the assistance of other sorcerers, including his brother Ookin, thwarted Tezcatlipoca, leading to his demise. However, the malevolence of Tezcatlipoca consumed Ookin.
Now, a girl named Kit has found the dagger, catching the attention of both brothers. Ookin seeks to use the dagger to resurrect his new master, planning to perform the ritual and become the new host, gaining control over its power.

All 'Dia de Los Muertos' references in today's QSMP event
I’ve seen it in Xitter but not yet in Tumblr, so I’m gonna go and translate each Egg’s book with the references to the deities that are mention within.
(English is not my first language. Sorry for any typo or grammar mistake).
For Tilin:
Tilin, my girl, I’m sorry you couldn’t enjoy the life it was expected for you, but don’t be afraid you will be with mom at Chichihualcuauhco[1] where I will take care of you. I won’t let anything hurt my helpless girl until you have the opportunity to be reborn again, you didn’t deserve to join the Gods in the underworld. - Tezcatlipoca[2]
For Bobby:
My little Bobby, you have proven to own dignity and courage to fight for what is right, As a result of this, I’ve invited you to my kingdom Tonatiuhichan[3], where at my side, you and other warriors will sing about their deeds and will dance until midnight, so you can enjoy forever the sunset that you adore so much. - Tonaituh[4]
For Juana:
Juana, it’s an honor for me and my wife Mictecachihuatl[5] to have you join us in the Mictlan[6]. Even though your dead was an accident, you may enjoy the journey that is our kingdom. You treated nature with respect in your life, so our dogs are excited to meet you at last. You will join us in the infinity of the universe forever. - Mictlantecuhtli [7]
For Trump:
Oh Trump, I’m sorry that my currents took you to this destiny, but to compensate I will invite you to Tlalocan[8], where you may join us in our celebration without end, and you may eat all the corn, amaranth, pumpkin, tomato and chile you want. In my kingdom, I promise you there’s no suffering and you will never be alone. - Tlaloc [9]
Now for all the little references:
[1] Chichihualcuauhco:
Afterlife in which children who died young or in childbirth are sent and fed from the “wet-nurse tree” (You can’t see it in the photo, but there was a tree in Tilin’s altar). Souls here wait for their next opportunity to be reborn.
[2] Tezcatlipoca:
He’s one of the four creator gods of the universe. I’m not an expert on Aztec mythology and I wasn’t really into Tilin’s lore, so I’m kinda uncertain as to why he was the one to write to them or how are they connected.
[3] Tonatiuhichan:
One of the afterlife paradises, where the soul of warries who died in battle go. It was believed that warriors could go back to their homes (land of the living) as hummingbirds. (Fun fact: Woman who died at childbirth would be given the same rank as the warriors who died in battle and would be sent to a similar place called Cihuatlampa!)
[4] Tonatiuh:
God of the sun (who runs Tonatiuhichan), who most believed was the creator of the Flor of Cempasúchil.
[5] Mictecachihuatl:
Lady of the Dead, Mictlantecuhtli’s consort. She guards the bones of the dead. (Fun Fact: In Oaxaca, is known as Matlacihua, and is said to punish womanizing and drunken men who walk late at night. Kinda funny considering Mariana and Slime’s interactions lmao.)
[6] Mictlan:
The underworld. Most people who die travel to Mictlan. To travel to the kingdom, you have to go through nine levels, which kinda needs dogs to carry the dead across the river. Same reason as to why Juana is sent dogs. (Fun fact: Depending in the color of the dog, they would act different. Yellow ones would just carry the soul, white ones would refuse cause they just washed themselves, and black dogs would refuse cause they just swum the river.)
[7] Mictlantecuhtli:
Lord of the Dead, king of Mictlan. There’s nothing much to say about him; he just simply tried to maintain order in the kingdom and was kinda of an asshole to other gods. There’s a whole myth about other Gods wanting to repopulate Earth, and him going ‘Nuh uh’ until Quetzalcóatl gets tired of him and steals the human bones from Mictlan lol.
[8] Tlalocan:
The afterlife of the Nectar. Better known as the water paradise, where those who died through drowning (or anything associated with rain for that matter) go. I read somewhere that there’s a theory of Trump dying because he drown in his own tears, so that’s why he was invited by Tlaloc.
[9] Tlaloc:
The God of rain, associated as the giver of life. The flower Tagetes Lucida are kind of like the Cempasúchil, and are his symbol.

So the White Tezcatlipoca is called the Mercy Bow, the Blue is called the Liberation Machete, and I think the Red is something like the Justice Scythe, does the Black Tezcatlipoca have a fancy name like that? the Peace Goop?
it will.
not peace goop though.... except perhaps in jest.

Broad-winged Nyx, you clasp the hand of bright Hemera, each eve and morn, you greet her with love and sorrow for only in those moments may you embrace your child. Goddess, awesome one, in your realm are we all unblemished, in your realm do lovers’ promises ring true, in your realm are all things possible, if only until daybreak. Nyx, I honor you.
Small prayer
“Nyx, mother of the night, mother of sleep, mother of death: Might your darkness embrace me Might your energy caress me Might you be mine and Might I be yours Blessed be.“
In general
O ancient Goddess, born of Chaos and steeped in shadow, I honor you now and always. With eyes which have watched the beginnings of all that is, see us now embracing your sleep and mystery. With power that strikes fear into the hearts of the most revered of Gods,
I remember your strength when I am searching for my own. In the starless night where light shines not i will give my thanks to your Greatness, And surrender to the dark.

The Monkey Wrench Five Sun Theory
Basically, my theory is that the characters of Monkey Wrench are the reincarnated Aztec pantheon. The more important they are to the story, the more likely they are to be part of the Legend Of The (Five) Suns, the Aztec creation myth.
The four main characters are the Four Tezcatlipocas, the four sons of the original creator couple. These four are the most important since they are responsible for creating the world.
We are currently following Huitzilopochtli as Shrike and Xipe Totec as Beebs. The other two, Quetzalcoatl and Tezcatlipoca, are coming a bit later.
The characters can be identified with their respective gods because almost all of them have hidden iconographic elements in their designs. Some of them can be really obvious, like for example in episode 4 we have three of the most obvious
Tyneen as Cipactli, a giant crocodile lady,
Jawbone as Mictlantecuhtli, a literal skeleton,
And Ajax, who is a humanoid walrus alien, with Tlaloc's iconic fangs poking out of his mouth.
In some cases the designs may not be as clear, but their personalities also come into play! For example we have Scratch and Scritch, a pair of kitten-like aliens who have crossed paths with the protagonists a couple of times.
Scratch is an arrogant and self-centered black cat that loves to have expensive things (or act like he does). Meanwhile his little brother Scritch is a cute orange Scottish Fold who is the opposite of him, he is generally much nicer and more cooperative, and he "doesn't speak". These are Tecciztecatl and Nanahuatzin.
I plan to make a post dedicated to everything I've found for each character, but I'm also going to make posts about the recreation of some myths, and other things I've noticed. Plus my predictions on how the show is going to develop with this in mind! And I haven't forgotten about the godhunt, I have things to say that relate to this too
Speaking of the godhunt, IDEALLY I would post these weekly like I did with that one, but my productivity fluctuates a lot. I am posting Shrike together with this at least.
Here's a list of all the public characters I've found so far, it will be updated with links as I go!

"Meditation is the royal road to the attainment of freedom, a mysterious ladder that reaches from earth to heaven, darkness to light, mortality to Immortality." -Sivananda
Quetzalcoatl and Tezcatlipoca Talon Abraxas Quetzalcoatl, the Feathered Serpent God of the Aztecs Quetzalcoatl (pronunciation: keht-zahl-koh-ah-tul), was an important god to the ancient Mesoamericans. The Aztecs regarded him as the god of knowledge and priesthood, an inventor of the Aztec calendar, and the discoverer of maize, or corn.
In some versions of the ancient myths, Quetzalcoatl was the wind god, the rain god that brought rain for crops, and a creator-god who brought back the human bones from the underworld, allowing for the resurrection of human life. Hence, Quetzalcóatl became the symbol of death and resurrection, known for his generosity and bestowing many blessings to the people.
The Four Tezcatlipocas Quetzalcoatl is often associated with and depicted as the half-snake, half-quetzal bird. He was the son of the god Ōmeteōtl (the name referring to the pair of Aztec deities. Ometecuhtli and Omecihuatl) and had three brothers, Xipe Totec, Huitzilopochtli, and Tezcatlipoca, also referred to respectively as the Red, the Blue, and the Black Tezcatlipoca. Quetzalcoatl was the White Tezcatlipoca. Together, they were called the four Tezcatlipocas.
He played an important role in the Aztec creation myth and was given several names including the Feathered Serpent and Plumed Serpent, and was Tezcatlipoca’s main rival. Tezcatlipoca, Aztec God
Tezcatlipoca (Nahuatl pronunciation: Tez-cah-tlee-poh-ka), meaning lord of the smoking mirror in the Nahuatl language, referred to the obsidian mirror used during the Aztec divination rites. Human and blood sacrifices that were conducted with the sacrificial obsidian knife were closely associated with Tezcatlipoca.
Tezcatlipoca was the Aztec god of night sky and sorcery and played an important part in the Aztec creation myth. He was also known as Black Tezcatlipoca, was also a vengeful god, and would not hesitate to punish any immorality and vices happening on earth.

he's always depicted putting his hands in water. not *always*, but consistently. the hands do have a big of a mechanical vibe to them, makes me curious why he keeps putting his hands in if he's prone to rusting.
he mentions the "violet wing" being his favorite, and we see he has depictions of the four tezcatlipocas. black tez is not able to cross water, which this building seems to be absolutely full of.
the mercy bow depicts something that resembles a tornado. we saw corn summon one when he was at blackwell asylum
one of these depicts breaking glass. corn dislikes glass and reflective surfaces
this building is also FULL of reflective surfaces. even the food served is reflective.
not sure what the rest of the story is. lion and deer were fueding ? deer was killed and put back together. they both used the spike to fight... they look spiderlike, so the black ick as spiders?
the deer is attacked by a feline and a rabbit
and then they merge, spike goes away? i forget how they came across the spike but oh boy the lore is loreing
WAIT I REWATCHED IT AND THEY GOT IT FROM WRIP AND VINKLE'S CELLAR??? WHAT THE FUCK DID THEY DO
