OMFG almost forgot to post this as well! I love the movie "Birth of Kitaro" so much! it was lucky that i saw a figure of Gegero, otherwise i'd have never seen it! WARGHHHH I LOVE THIS MAN SO MUCH, HES SO CUTE PATOOTIE!! Would recommend giving it a watch!! <3

Mob Psycho 100 / Gegege no Kitaro Crossover

Hi. I recently watched GeNazo and noticed that Mizuki's suit is similar to Reigen's (it's a simple suit but eh), and went off the rails drawing this comic;;;

Apparently I haven't posted any MP100 stuff on my Tumblr??? so here, have my Shigeo reveal (I haven't drawn him in so long I think he looks WAY different from when I used to draw him;;)

Also, Kitaro and Shige are kinda similar? ⤵︎⤵︎⤵︎

Both have basically two sets of parents Both are trying to use their powers for good (and get requests for help) Both of their parental figures are tired salarymen that smoke a lot and have history of fighting (Reigen with martial arts and Mizuki with being a soldier in WW2) Both of their parental figures do not understand their (their "children's" (to be fair, Mizuki did raise Kitaro)) powers Both love and feel comfortable around their birth families Edit: Both of their parental figures learn about love by raising them!!!! HOW COULD I HAVE FORGOTTEN

Anyway, some extra notes are in these next sketches for my MP100 friends that wanna know more about Kitaro!!!⤵︎⤵︎⤵︎

Though this isn't a serious crossover, I wanted to put down my headcanons for this.

Kitaro would probably call Shige "Mob" because he's used to Yokai with strange names Mizuki in this realm has his memories back, and probably doesn't have the aura of a regular person anymore (maybe he lives for longer, too)

I justed watched Birth of Kitarō: The Mystery of GeGeGe and it is amazing. I knew a bit of Gege no Kitaro and when I heard they made a movie for the 100th anniversary I had to watch it. The story is gripping and the action is wonderful. The end had me by the heartstrings and now I want to watch the 2019 version. I love the leads and there relationship and I wish we can get more… I recommend it to everyone who likes mystery and japanese folklore

The character sheet for Toshio Furukawa’s role in the upcoming Birth of Kitaro movie has been revealed 💛🩶

Although the staff play coy by describing him merely as ‘a mysterious boy’, this is no doubt a younger Ratman! It’s possible Kitaro won’t learn his name during the movie events however, and thus the mystery. Very curious to see how involved he’ll be! Kitaro has had quite a long past with him after all.

They’ve made some tweaks to his design here which interest me - it’s probably in an effort to give him a more youthful look, but his head isn’t as egg-shaped, and his ears far less pointed.

This supports a pet theory I’ve had based on the 2018 series, which is:

Hanyou predominantly start off looking human-ish, and become progressively more youkai-like as time passes.

Basically, I figure their human cells would die off and be replaced by the youkai portion that continues to persist.

Is this to explain why I draw Reiji with rounded human ears?? Maybe!!! But I also appreciate good lore expansion.
