I feel like ROTTMNT’s magic system hasn’t been explored nearly enough. Like, now that (most) world ending threats are gone, the turtles could totally learn more spells and explore more things they could possibly do with their ninpo and mystics. Since we know that future Mikey was “the greatest mystic warrior”, why aren’t potential future/additional abilities explored for all of them?
We see Mikey float, incinerate kraang monsters, open a portal through time, throw multiple large objects (including, but not limited to A FUCKING SKYSCRAPER) and he’s probably capable of much more with the proper training. I know that his kusari-fundo could catch on fire and that it had some sort of demon inside it, but it’d be sick if Mikey could just….spontaneously combust and become a flaming cannonball. Or just, become glow stick or some shit. Or even make other things float! Like imagine if the reason he could throw something as large as a skyscraper was because he literally made it lighter than air.
And like, we clearly see that Leo is able to teleport and make portals, but he’s also super fast? Even without powers he can move unnaturally fast (probably thanks to Draxxum) and even thinks quickly. Plus there’s that image of him at the end of the movie with the lighting which I desperately need more of because of course he has lighting! Also, there was a fic somewhere (a few actually now that I think about it) that talk about how actual teleportation is impossible but come up with brilliant solutions, for example: portaling through a pocket dimension to get somewhere else (Portal Pocket Dimension by DefinitelyaUseraname), or speeding up individual atoms in order to “disappear” and “reform” somewhere else (Neon Void by sugar pastels). Granted, one is a “safer” option regarding the fabric of reality but still.
Also, if the “Rise Medic Leo” headcanon fits the 2k12 thing where Leo has “healing hands”, I’m totally taking it and running.
Also, Raph and Donnie? I’m not quite sure what secondary skill Donnie might get but you can’t tell me that Raph doesn’t get some sort of illusion/size changing ability in the future. Like come on. He can literally make duplicates of himself that look exactly like him that can confuse the Shredder. And he can change the size of his full body construct too! If he can make a large version of himself, why can’t we get tiny Raph too? He could totally learn illusion spells or work with Donnie to figure out what the different types of constructs they can make. Maybe not Hypno illusions but something similar probably.
I was kinda thinking about giving Donnie some sort of x-ray vision or the ability to like- take a pencil and turn it into a rifle or something? But honestly, his aim is only second to April so maybe some sort of enhanced vision or even a tech-telepathy thing would be best? If the rest of the Hamato Clan had magic abilities like the turtles, what would they have? I just assume that the Hamato Clan always has the basic “turn x into weapon” and “Ninja Mind Meld” stuff, but it’d be cool if there were other abilities like healing that were specific to the clan member. Maybe these secondary abilities I’m thinking of (healing, speed, strength, etc.) are just that instead of a Yokai specific thing? Idk, magic systems are fun.

Ninjago Fic Request: Jay x Nya; Nya running on a treadmill while connected to a heart monitor as part of a stress test, Nya's heart beating faster and faster, harder and harder, causing Jay to become very worried about Nya's health.
I’m so sorry I took forever writing this 😰
Nya's sneakers pounded against the treadmill as the heart monitor beeped steadily. With each passing minute, her heart raced faster, mirroring the increasing speed of the treadmill. Jay, watching from the side, furrowed his brow, concern growing with every elevated beat.
The room echoed with the rhythmic sounds of exertion, and Nya's determination was evident in her focused gaze. The stress test was meant to push her limits, but as her heart thumped louder, Jay couldn't shake the worry creeping into his thoughts.
Nya's steady breaths turned into gasps, and Jay couldn't ignore the anxiety building within him. He approached the treadmill, his voice filled with concern, "Nya, maybe you should slow down a bit. We can reschedule this test."
But Nya, fueled by determination, shook her head. "I need to push through, Jay. It's just a test," she panted, her voice strained. The heart monitor, however, told a different story, its beeps racing in sync with Nya's escalating heart rate.
As the treadmill sped up, Jay's worry deepened. He reached out, gently touching Nya's arm, "I know you're strong, but your health comes first. Let's not risk it."
Reluctantly, Nya agreed, and they slowed down the treadmill together. As Nya stepped off, a wave of dizziness hit her, and Jay steadied her with a concerned look. "We need to get you checked out, Nya. Your health is more important than any test."
Together, they left the room, Jay supporting Nya as they headed to the medical facility. The concern etched on Jay's face mirrored his internal turmoil, realizing that sometimes the greatest battles are not fought with fists but with the delicate rhythms of the heart.
“Don’t worry Jay, as long as she rests she should be fine,” Zane said as he completed the checkup on his friend.
Zane's reassurance brought a slight comfort to Jay, who continued to support Nya as they left the medical facility.
The hallway outside the medical facility was quiet, contrasting with the intensity of the treadmill room they had just left. Nya leaned on Jay for support, her breathing gradually returning to a more steady pace. Despite the reassurance from Zane, Jay couldn't shake the worry that had settled in the pit of his stomach.
As they walked, Nya mustered a weak smile. "I guess I underestimated that stress test. Thought I could handle it."
Jay returned a small smile, relieved that Nya seemed to be in good spirits despite the ordeal. "It's okay, Nya. We all have our limits, and it's important to listen to our bodies."
Zane, walking alongside them, chimed in, "Absolutely. It's better to be cautious, especially when it comes to your health."
They reached a quiet sitting area, and Jay helped Nya settle into a chair. Zane continued, "I'll prepare a report for Sensei Wu, explaining what happened during the stress test. He'll understand the importance of prioritizing health over pushing too hard."
Nya nodded appreciatively, her focus on recovering. Jay, still concerned, asked, "Do you need anything, Nya? Water, maybe?"
"I'll be fine, Jay. Just need a moment to catch my breath," she replied, her gaze grateful.
As Jay sat beside her, he couldn't help but reflect on the fine line between determination and recklessness. In their world of ninja battles and challenges, it was easy to forget the importance of self-care. Soon he spoke up again, “Nya I need you to promise me you will take care of yourself. I can’t imagine losing you.”
Nya placed a reassuring hand on Jay’s cheek, her smile radiating with love and appreciation. “I’ll do my best, but only if you promise to do the same.”
Jay gazed into Nya's eyes, a mix of relief and love evident in his expression. "Deal," he said, his voice filled with sincerity. In that quiet moment, amidst the echoes of their recent ordeal, they both understood the gravity of prioritizing their well-being.
“You’re too good for me Jay Walker,” Nya whispered pulling her boyfriend into a kiss.
The kiss lingered, a shared moment of reassurance and gratitude. Jay couldn't help but smile against Nya's lips, appreciating the love and strength they found in each other. The hallway, once a quiet backdrop to their concern, now bore witness to a connection that surpassed the challenges they faced.
Zane, respecting their moment, discreetly left to deliver his report to Sensei Wu. As the couple pulled away, Jay looked into Nya's eyes, a renewed sense of commitment shining in his gaze.
"Nya, we're a team in everything, including taking care of ourselves. We can face any challenge, but only if we're at our best."
Nya nodded, her hand finding Jay's. "I promise, Jay. No more underestimating my limits. We'll tackle whatever comes our way, together."
As they sat in the quiet sitting area, hand in hand, they understood that strength wasn't just about facing external foes but also about acknowledging vulnerability and caring for each other. The echoes of the treadmill room were replaced with the shared heartbeat of two individuals, ready to navigate the delicate rhythms of life together.

Chapter 3: Gone
> Chapter 1
> Chapter 2
Happy Madara Monday!
Notes: This chapter will have angst, major character death and will be heavy on descriptions (mentions of physical wounds and blood). Madara is 27, same for Fuyumi and Izuna is 24. By far, the longest chapter of this fic.
Gone
Battles were a common occurrence to any shinobi. The clash between the Senju and the Uchiha, although regular, was a sight to behold. It was a place where the strife between the greatest and most powerful ninja in the world happened almost daily, and both clans had the reputation of producing prodigies at least once per generation. Madara Uchiha and Hashirama Senju had risen to their respective clan’s leadership and were bound to face each other at any given chance, for nobody else could match each other’s strength. And just as those two men had to confront each other, their younger brothers were in the same position.
Tobirama Senju and Izuna Uchiha were stuck in a long duel, where their techniques were constantly outshining each other. Kenjutsu, ninjutsu, taijutsu, tantojutsu… The clash of metal against metal and the sounds of the elements of nature being summoned was drowned by the screams of less talented ninja being slaughtered left and right on both sides. At some point, somehow, Tobirama managed to outperform the Sharingan.
“Hiraishingiri!”
An unknown, new jutsu cut through Izuna’s flesh without giving the young man a chance to use his virtuous eyes to defend himself. In the span of a millisecond, he felt a sharp pain all across his internal organs and coughed up blood. Izuna would have fallen to the ground had it not been for Madara's immediate decision to leave Hashirama and rush to aid his beloved little brother.
“Izuna! Hang in there, I’ll save you!”
The younger Uchiha was unable to answer as all he could do was rest himself against his brother, the burning ache of his insides being numbing and the metallic taste of blood filling his mouth. As Madara balanced his brother’s weight on himself and put Izuna’s arm around his shoulders to give him support, Hashirama approached them holding his sword.
“Hashirama…”, Madara said with a silent yet aggressive and suspecting voice.
“Madara, you can’t win against me. Why don’t we end this?”. The Senju leader stuck his sword on the ground and began to try and convince his old friend to make their childhood dream come true. He had a series of valid points. Madara was about to walk towards his rival’s friendly gesture but his brother finally mustered enough strength to speak.
“No, elder brother…”, Izuna said with strain in his voice. Blood was dripping from the side of his mouth.
“Izuna!”
“Don’t let yourself be fooled…”, he coughed up some more blood, “Have you forgotten that these bastards have killed our clansmen?”
Madara’s crimson pupils went from his hurt brother to Hashirama, and his expression hardened once more. He retrieved a small smoke bomb from his pocket and used it to take his brother to safety. The Uchiha clan leader and his brother disappeared in a cloud of grey smoke, leaving a confused Hashirama behind.
Now that Madara had retreated from the battlefield, the other Uchiha forces felt like surrendering but a strong and commanding voice caught their attention. Lieutenant Fuyumi…
“Everyone! Back to your formations, now!”, she exclaimed at the top of her lungs.
“Yes, lieutenant!”, some shinobi replied. Her quick wit and natural leading abilities were like a breath of fresh air for the worried and demoralised Uchiha forces, because with Madara gone they felt almost defenceless.
While Fuyumi did her best to gather what was left of the troops, Madara was dragging Izuna back to safety in their home. He kicked the medical building’s door open and his sharingan swirled menacingly at the doctors inside.
“Find me a bed instantly! My brother requires immediate assistance!”, he cried out.
“Elder brother…”, Izuna whispered, “... water, please…”
The doctors were quick to assist the wounded man, laying him down and wiping off the blood from his slashed abdomen. Another kick opened the infirmary’s door and yet another sharingan announced its gloomy presence.
“Madara! How’s Izuna? We managed to escape the Senju with no more casualties!”, Fuyumi cried out. As soon as she saw Izuna on a bed, pale from blood loss and shivering in pain, she clasped her hand over her mouth trying not to scream. Was that a piece of his… gut sticking out of the wound? It was better not to ask. Madara was frozen in his place, his sharingan swirling out of control and his eyes opened so wide it seemed they were going to burst out of their sockets. Everything became a blur to him, the screams of the doctors to each other across the room became a muffled background noise and the throbbing pain of an oncoming migraine started to make him slightly nauseous.
“Madara… Madara, snap out of it! Give the doctors some space!”, Fuyumi yelled to her friend, but to no avail. She had to drag him out of the building, the man being so stunned he became a dead weight.
About two weeks later…
Madara had broken his work and duty ethic to get Izuna to be treated in his home by pressing on the doctors with his authority as clan leader. The younger brother was laying in bed, frail and barely making progress, if not going back in his recovery. He was being spoon fed a warm bowl of miso soup by Madara, struggling to swallow as his slashed stomach caused more internal bleeding with each bite of food he consumed, the digestive acids corroding his other organs from inside.
“Elder brother, give me some water, please. It burns too much. I can’t drink another spoonful…”
The troubled older man quickly complied with his little brother’s wishes and helped him take some sips of water. He put a hand on Izuna’s forehead and scowled at the scorching hot feeling. The fever outbursts were getting more frequent, to the point of becoming more of a constant in the shinobi’s state. Madara tried to put a towel with cold water over Izuna’s forehead, but his brother looked away and rejected the help.
“I fear that it won’t do much, elder brother. I’m slowly approaching a point of no return. The wound isn’t closing as it should, the medical ninjutsu is barely helping to control the internal bleeding, and I feel like throwing up blood every single time I inhale.” Izuna’s voice was a bit ragged and raspy, the phlegm on his lungs and the fever making him even more uncomfortable.
“Oh, shut up, you’ll recover soon! The wound is already halfway closed, see?”, Madara opened his brother’s light cotton kimono slightly to reveal the progress of the cicatrization.
“Brother, don’t you see that ugly yellow thing over the scab? It’s an infection! It’s not healing, it’s getting worse!”, Izuna cried out in a more stressed voice. He was right, the sword that had caused him such a wound had probably been contaminated from a long day in the battlefield.
“But… the antibio-”
“I don’t have much time left whether you want it or not, so listen up, elder brother!”, Izuna exclaimed in anger. He never snapped at Madara, it was usually the other way around.
Madara flinched at the sudden aggressiveness of Izuna. That scream was enough to make him understand his current reality and face the fact that Izuna was going to be gone, very soon. His facial expression was slowly becoming sorrowful, as if anticipating the grief he’d feel. And Izuna noticed that. The only thing that he did not want was for his dear elder brother to suffer, and yet he had to say goodbye. He put a hand on Madara’s shoulder and his voice became softer.
“Elder brother, don’t worry. Please don’t be sad in advance. You will be just fine! You’re an amazing clan leader, a wonderful shinobi and an even better brother. I know that I’m quite annoying sometimes, but I don’t mean wrong when I say that you should sleep properly. Your dedication is admirable and as strong as iron, but you should learn to take breaks.”
“Izuna…”
“No, no, let me finish. Look, I’m not getting out of this one. I won’t make it to your wedding day or meet my nieces and nephews and be a cool uncle, but I need you to promise me that when the time comes, you will marry out of love and won’t ever accept one of those pesky arrangements we’ve dealt with so many times.” As soon as he said this, Izuna coughed and a droplet of blood fell down his lip. Tears had been welling up in Madara’s eyes and a few rolled down his cheeks.
“I’m so sorry, Izuna. I failed again, I couldn’t save you…”
“Doesn’t matter right now. Just make that promise to me, alright? As a last favour to me.” The younger brother lowered his hand from Madara’s shoulder and made the gesture of a pinky promise. This caused the troubled clan leader to chuckle softly and wipe some of his tears.
“Pinky promise, really? Aren’t we a bit too old for that?”
“Oh, just do it!”
“Fine, fine… I pinky promise that I’ll do as you say.”
Both let out a quiet and brief laugh, then interlocked their fingers. The wholesome moment was ruined because Izuna began to cough again, this time some blood clots coming from his mouth. Madara knew that the clock was ticking.
The next day…
A loud thud noise followed by hoarse coughing and water flowing made Madara rush to his brother’s room. When he stepped in, he saw the jug of water on the ground, ruining the delicate tatami. He quickly knelt to place himself to Izuna’s level and checked if he had hurt himself.
“Sorry elder brother, I’m having trouble with space perception. The light is annoying me quite a lot… eugh!”
“It must be the fever. Don’t worry, I’m going a bit blind too. I’ll close the curtain, you just sit here.”
“As if I could go anywhere else… haha!”
Madara rolled his eyes and chuckled at the joke. Izuna had always kept that snarky sense of humour, ever since they were children. But the laughter turned into concern as Izuna’s giggling became coughing once again. The young man knew that his brother would try and help as he had always done, so he made a gesture to stop Madara. Then, Izuna sat upright and his face scrunched up in pain.
“Elder brother, we must talk about something important.”
“About your son? Don’t worry, I’m taking care of him very well.”
“No, I already know that I can trust you with my boy. I’m referring to your eyes.”
“My eyes? What about them?”
“You’re going blind. And you know why that is, don’t you?”
Madara didn’t answer immediately. Yes, he knew why he was losing his vision slowly. The cost of the power of the mangekyo sharingan was that the user would progressively lose the light in their sight, and Madara was rushing to that fate. He made a slight hesitation noise and Izuna decided to go on. It was a sensitive topic, but Izuna didn’t have much time left.
“I won’t beat around the bush as I don’t like to waste time. My dying wish is that you take my eyes and replace yours so that you can continue using the power of the mangekyo sharingan to protect our clan”, he said with an authoritative voice.
“Take your eyes?! I blatantly refuse!”
“And I’m not taking no for an answer!”, Izuna cried out at the top of his damaged lungs, surprising Madara.
“But what about you?”
“I’m going to die, I don’t need eyeballs! You will have to move on without me, elder brother! This is your reality!”
Those words were like a stab to Madara’s heart. His little brother had always been there with him, and now he was supposed to move on? Lead a clan all by himself? The moment of reflection was cut short by fleshy sounds and an eyeball suddenly falling on his palm. Madara nearly jumped in shock and it took him some effort to distinguish what had been happening while he was deep in thought. A second eyeball was placed on his palm and he was finally able to articulate a word.
“Izuna… you don’t have to do this…”
“It doesn’t hurt much if I bite my tongue. Take these.”
“How are you so sure that I will regain my vision if I take your eyes?”
“The ancient legends say so. And we don’t have many other options. I entrust the future of this clan to you.”
A small smile appeared in the lips of the dying man and droplets of blood kept streaming down his cheeks. Then, he laid down in the bed letting out a long sigh, one hand over the bandages of his wound. It was a good thing that Madara was nearly blind, because if he had seen Izuna’s empty eye sockets he would have never recovered.
“I was truly blessed to have you as a brother. Go, take these and defend our clan as you have always done.”
“I will. In your honour, and in the honour of our parents and siblings.”
“Thanks, elder brother…”
And so, the great shinobi known to the world as Izuna Uchiha succumbed to his fatal wounds in front of his cherished older brother, after long weeks of agony. Madara didn’t move for some seconds, and then he put a towel over his little brother’s eyes. A single tear rolled down his cheek, his fist clenched over his thigh and he was about to give in to grief, when he remembered the eyeballs in his hand. He stood up and began to perform an improvised surgery on himself.
It was as if he had been moving robotically. When he sat down next to the cold body, he could finally see Izuna clearly after so many months of his vision becoming grayer. And when the cruel reality of the death of his little brother hit, he couldn’t handle it anymore.
The advisors walking around the main house of the Uchiha were shivering in fear upon hearing the desperate, agonising wails and sobs coming from Madara. It sounded as if a wolf was howling in panic. Everyone sympathised with the pain of losing a loved one, but nobody dared approach him in such a moment. In front of the closed door of Izuna’s room, stood the bravest generals of the mighty Uchiha clan, afraid of being next to their leader. The door finally slid open and a smaller figure entered the room, sitting next to Madara.
“Madara! Oh, goodness!”, Fuyumi cried out once she saw the scene. She was quick to close the door behind her so the most nosy advisors didn’t bother the grieving leader.
“He’s gone! Gone for good, Fuyumi! And I couldn’t do anything about it!”, Madara said in a ragged voice, trying to wipe the blood off his face using the moisture of his tears.
Fuyumi didn’t know what to do for a second as her brain pieced up the information. It wasn’t long before she understood everything that had happened, and she didn’t uncover Izuna’s face because she knew it would be nasty. She brought herself to wrapping one arm around her friend’s shoulders and using her free hand to wipe the man’s bloody face. Madara didn’t reject her touch because he was too busy weeping and trying not to drop to the floor with the intense migraine he was suffering. His mind kept flashing memories that weren’t his, the many points of view in Izuna’s life were being transferred to his consciousness.
“Hey, listen now…”, her voice was quiet and reassuring, almost protective.
“My little brother… he gave me his eyes…”
“I know, I know. And this may sound cliche but he’s in a better place now. I don’t really know what else to do to comfort you, but I swear I’ll be here. You know you can trust me, right?”
“Please get me something for this damn headache and tell my sister in law about this. I can’t see her face now, I would die of shame.”
“Are you ready to stay some time all alone? I just arrived here…”
“No. But I need your help with that.” Madara pinched the bridge of his nose and tried to stop crying. No matter how hard he tried, the tears didn’t stop flowing.
The rest of the afternoon was a blurry slideshow of people muttering condolences and embalmers running around the house. Madara finally came back to his senses when Fuyumi slid his bedroom door open and offered him a cup of green tea. As he drank, she damped a towel with chamomile tea and used it to soothe his puffy eyes.
“Thanks. And sorry that you had to deal with me earlier.”
“Pfft. I’ve dealt with you all my life, idiot. You can trust me for anything, and I mean anything. Just relax a bit. I’ll stay in your guest room for the night, okay?”
“No. Please, don’t leave just now. I’m embarrassed to say this but I can’t deal with this by myself. And I refuse to speak about my feelings to my men, they’ll think I’m weak.”
Fuyumi didn’t say anything else, she nodded and put the towel down. Then, she picked up one of Madara’s bedsheets and wrapped it around his shoulders to keep him warm. Madara felt like maybe, just maybe, even after Izuna had passed he wouldn’t be all alone.

Note
Trauma and general headcannons for borderlands y/n being placed i to naruto:
- it takes them months and months to control their 'survivor mode' to not kill anyone around the rookie 9.
- They hate the calm life that everyone keeps trying to push them towards. The idea of being sitting in one spot for too long makes their skin crawl and makes them nervous
- They're prone to anxiety attacks due to the fact that they aren't used to the lind of calmness and peace that exist inside villiages for the most part.
- They miss having a goal. Sure they get missions here, but nothing like the save the planet stuff from back home.
- They've learned they hate having to abide by laws.
- They're genuinely wary and fearful around animals at first since every animal they've interacted with on pandora are hostile and will eat you.
- high distrust of doctors and medical professionals thanks to the things hyperion scientists and medical professionals have done.
- Murder is an okay solution to their problems as far as they're concerned.
- Ironically they'd probably hang best with the akatsuki and depending on the kind of vault hunter they are they'd probably get along best with Hidan. Purely becuase he acts similarly to a lot of people from pandora, so he reminds them of home.
- no one can understand why they want to go back, but even if their life would be better here they just can't adapt to a normal life anymore.
- The people y/n hangs with in the naruto world get transported to pandora with y/n for a month and learn why they are the way they are.
Switch that around with ninja y/n on Pandora and you have literally the greatest assassin ever
But with family trauma this time
Lilith: So why did you come to Pandora?
You: my entire family got murdered in one night so I’m just here now.
Lilith: your..entire family?
You: Yeah, mom, dad, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and like all of my cousins.

A Monster, Part 1 (Dad!Raph)
Hehehe... I felt particularly mean today. Time for some dad!turtle angst.
I decided to use my OC for Raph’s kid, but you can insert any kid you want. This boy’s name is Antonio, a two-fold reference to both Antonio di Puccio Pisano, an Italian Renaissance artist, and Antonio Rodríguez Luna, a Spanish painter (Antonio’s mom is my OC Margot, a Mexican American and arts lover).
I wrote this with 2003 Raph in mind, but I think it fits bayverse too (and probably the others too).
~~~~~~~
Tumblr media
“Not so tough now, are you?! You bastard!” Raph spat, launching another punch at the whimpering man’s face. The attack resounded in the air with a satisfying crack—doubtlessly a sign of a broken jaw. The sound and subsequent howling of pain brought a frenzied grin to Raph’s face.
This was one of Bishop’s men. More specifically, the last of a group who had attempted to kidnap Raph’s son. The rest were all in bloody heaps on the ground; alive, but now with the prospect of rather expense medical bills on the way. It only took Raph about thirty minutes to track the bastards down and save his son, who was now safely hidden away in the warehouse behind him. However, the idiots still wanted a fight and a fight they got.
Raph didn’t even need his brothers for this one. Once he realized his son was taken, he charged off without a thought. They were no doubt close behind as he finished off the last of the men, but Raph didn’t care. What mattered was his son’s safety and making sure Bishop thought twice before ever attempting such an act again.
“Tell your boss,” Raph growled, gripping the man’s throat, “if he EVER tries this shit again, you guys won’t be leaving in an ambulance. You’ll be leaving in a BODY BAG!”
With these last words, he threw the man to the ground and stomped down hard on his left leg. Like with the jaw before, a loud crack rang through the air, followed by pained sobbing. There was no fight left. Every man would now have to crawl away and leave their dignity behind.
Panting, Raph let his adrenaline start to ebb away, gazing at the broken bodies before him with a satisfied smile. But as the roaring in his ears quieted down, he heard a different sort of sobbing behind him.
He turned slowly, only to see his four-year-old son gaping at him with wide, tear-filled eyes. His little limbs trembled, and each sniffle seemed to be muffled, as if he was trying to conceal his presence. But it was those eyes that held Raph’s attention. Day by day, he saw so many emotions in them, and they only grew more expressive with age.
His eyes would sparkle with excitement when he saw cool characters on TV. They would shine with curiosity when he discovered something new and glint with mischief as he snuck up on his uncles to scare them. And when he looked at Raph, his eyes shone with the utmost admiration and joy. It was like his dad was the greatest hero in the world to him. Raph worked hard every day to maintain that look in his son’s eyes—to be the best dad for his little boy.
But right now, all that shone in his son’s eyes was pure terror.
“Antonio…” Raph tried to sound reassuring, but a lump formed in his throat. Glancing around again, he realized just how much blood was on the ground. It seeped from each beaten man, streaming down the road and into sewer grates. Even in a family of ninja, this carnage was too much for a small child.
Shaking, Raph looked down at his hands. The once green scales now matched the crimson hue of his mask. Blood was splattered across his entire body—and most of it wasn’t his.
The lump in Raph’s throat became suffocating. How long had Antonio been watching his massacre?
Clenching his shaking, stained hands, Raph stepped forward slightly. “Hey… Toni, it’s okay…” Antonio flinched, shifting his feet back. Raph tried desperately not to notice. “The bad men are gone now… We can go home.”
Raph took another step forward, stretching his bloodied hands towards his son. As his hands raised up, a particular light on the warehouse made the red stains glow brighter. Antonio recoiled sharply.
“NO!” He threw his hands up, flinging himself back so hard that he toppled over. Now on the ground, Antonio held his hands above his head, cowering. “No, stay back! Don’t… Don’t hurt me!”
Something broke in Raphael that day. He stopped moving, stopped responding. Even when his brothers finally arrived on the scene. Even when asked what happened. Even when they checked him over for injuries. Even when Antonio was gently led into the tank, wailing in his uncle Mikey’s arms. Raph barely registered walking into the tank himself. Not a word escaped his lips.
However, there was no stopping the tears that poured down his face.
Sometimes, when Raph and his brothers were sparring, Antonio would peek into the dojo and watch the excitement. He could barely tear his eyes away from his dad, watching each blow with bated breath. And at the end of every session, he ran to his dad cheering. Those nights were filled with warm conversations and innocent promises to become a ninja like him one day. It never failed to fill Raph’s heart and put him to sleep with a smile on his face.
Tonight’s battle, on the other hand, had no playful spirit, no show of skill, and no real victor. It was simply Raph giving into his worst urges, as he let his child watch as he beat several men half to death. And in turn, Antonio greeted his father with no admiration or wonder, but plain fear. He didn’t look at him like a hero—he looked at him like a monster.
The realization hit Raph like a ton of bricks and he refused to leave the tank, even once back at the lair. His brothers simply let him be, unable to do anything. Instead, they took the sobbing Antonio to his mother.
Raph watched his son disappear, his head hung low with guilt. There was no fixing this. His son saw him as a monster because he WAS a monster…
The thing with SasuSaku is that
it is always told in Sakura's POV . All the "pursuing your first love and marrying them", "letting the cold-hearted guy warm up to you" and "sticking with him through his ups and downs but occasionally getting tired by being let down" are all dramatic and nice but they're very overused shoujo tropes. This effectively makes SasuSaku a little repetitive (although still has its appeal to those who love progressions like this.)
BUT LIKE, SasuSaku in Sasuke's POV is absolutely fucking batshit crazy. Like, imagine you are a wanted war criminal (who although helped out in the greatest war the world has ever known, still committed lotsa shady shit). Then, the person who is probably the second most sought for spouse and daughter/son-in-law in the entire fucking world (cuz Naruto is first, let's be real), goes and says she still likes you while twirling her hair around, while you look at her absolutely ripped arms(that she built up so she can carry injured patients to medical tents fast-- but that doesn't stop you from IMAGINING).
LIKE, this is the girl you continued to snub when you were a cringey snarky 12 year old and spouted lines like "I can't really call it a dream but I have an ambition! The ambition to restore my clan..." for all the fucking world to hear. You kept calling her annoying and brushing her off because you were afraid of responding sincerely to her feelings.... Now, everyone in Konoha wants a piece of her. Heck, if she asked for the Kazekage's hand in marriage, he might just say yes with how valuable her skills are and with how they owe her quite a bit.
And then it's all "what the fuck why do YOU like ME I don't even like me" while she escapes her work as the lead medical ninja of an entire fucking country just so she can pursue you. But you can't say no and it's obvious that she really likes you (although it kinda baffles you why, cuz you don't like you) but she's extremely supportive of your "atonement journey" and though you're not quite ready to admit it yet, you feel safe in her arms. Surely, there are probably other people better suited to her but she likes you and you might just like her too. You take her hand hoping she doesn't let go, and you try your damn best to be a better version of yourself
Let The Bells Ring (A Stricklake Wedding)
Good news everyone! I was finally able to motivate myself to finish this fanfic, which took me weeks due to work and weak motivation lol. Since I’ve been sick this week with not much to do, I was able to motivate myself to power through!
So this is a continuation of my Making Things Right fic, which is an alternate ROTT ending where the timeline is NOT reset and everyone lives and gets to attend the Stricklake wedding! This in general is how I imagine a Stricklake wedding going, regardless of the overall plot of ROTT. I got so much inspiration for this from throughout the fandom, including @bklily & @undeadchestnut <3 Enjoy!
~~~
In the weeks to come, the people of Arcadia and perhaps, the whole world would continue to recover from what would’ve been a large-scale apocalypse. To celebrate the end of this war and help everyone with healing, Barbara and Strickler felt that they should get married as soon as possible. Barbara nearly lost Strickler in his attempt to save Jim and stop the ice titan, and she was never more determined to tie the knot and be with him for the rest of her life. It was thanks to her excellent medical skills that both him and Nomura were able to recover from their life-threatening injuries, even though his wings were permanently damaged from the blast.
The day of the wedding arrived on a bright spring as the flowers began to bloom in the trees across Arcadia. Everyone was busy and super pumped getting ready for the big day. Claire, along with Aja, Darci, and Mary were all getting ready in her room. With Papa Skull music playing, they did their hair, nails, and makeup while also fooling around quite a bit. Aja sat right in front of the mirror back in her human form after a very long time.
“I’ve never been to a human marriage party before!” She squealed in excitement as her girlfriends did her hair and makeup.
“We’re so glad you can be with us, Aj,” Darci responded wholeheartedly as she pulled Aja’s light blonde hair into a beautiful, flowery updo with some loose hairs falling to the side. Claire and Mary both focused on getting her makeup done and when they were finally done, Aja gazed into the mirror in awe.
“Wow! I look.. I look soo..”
“Lively!” The girls cheerfully finished the sentence for her.
“Hey Claire Bear, Darc and I are gonna grab a few things from my car. You and Aja finish getting ready, ok?” Said Mary as she and Darci left the room. Claire helped Aja get into her hot pink strapless dress, and Aja couldn’t help but squeal in excitement and twirl around in her high-low skirt. Aja quickly enveloped Claire into a tight hug.
“Oh thank you so much Claire! This is amazing!”
Both girls chuckled and smiled at each other.
“Also,” Aja started. “It’s so nice to have another girl to fight side by side with, I don’t get to do that a lot. And your shadows of magic are so lively!”
“Thanks! And yeah same. Boys clubs can get pretty annoying, haha,” Claire joked. "We should definitely hang out more," Aja nodded in agreement and they both smiled warmly at each other.
“We’re back!” Mary said as she and Darci finally came back with more accessories. After they all finished getting ready, Mary took out her phone and they all posed for a selfie.
“Aw C-Bomb! It’s so good to have you back! We missed you like crazy when you left Arcadia! You and Aja!” She squealed cheerfully, squeezing Claire into a tight hug. Darci joined in and grabbed Aja as well. “Yeah girl! Don’t ever leave us out of nowhere like that again,” Darci said with a frown as she hugged Claire tighter. Claire chuckled and took both of their hands. “Don’t worry, I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon. It would be nice to take a break once in a while, hopefully,” She assured her girlfriends and hugged them again.
Moments later, the girls rode in Mary's car to Jim's house. When Aja got out from the back seat, the front door suddenly flew open and Steve ran out to her.
"My royal, ninja-kicking angel is here!" He yelled.
Without any hesitation, he swung Aja up from her feet and spun her around as she screamed joyously. He kissed her so passionately that Aja eventually started pushing him.
"Steve!" She chuckled. "My makeup! You're going to mess it up!" Steve laughed and then they both pressed their foreheads together and smiled lovingly as they held each other.
Jim stood at the front door watching and shaking his head while the remaining girls chuckled and let out some "awws" from the car. Claire eventually opened the door and walked out from the front seat, and Jim couldn't help but let out a "woah."
Claire stepped out in glimmering heels and wore a beautiful, midnight dress with a slit to the side. She smiled at Jim and her smoky eyeshadow made her beautiful, brown eyes glow even more. She walked up to him and he gently took her hands in his.
"You ready to be the greatest best man?" She asked.
"Ready as I can get," Jim chuckled awkwardly and scratched the back of his head. Claire smiled, then cupped his cheeks in her hands and leaned forward to press her lips against his. When she finally pulled back, she carefully stroked his hair and tucked it behind his ear.
"Good luck, I know you got this,"
Jim smiled and put his hand on hers, letting out a sigh of relief.
Toby and Aaarrrgghh walked out of the front door beside them and the three trollhunters smiled at one another. It's good they were all back together. And actually happy this time! Toby walked over to Jim and Claire for an affectionate group hug while Darci and Mary walked over.
"Toby!" Darci screamed as she ran over to hug her boyfriend. With a massive smile on his face, Toby hugged her back and held her tight.
"Oh TP! It's so good to have you back! I missed you so so much!" She started, her eyes tearing up. Toby on the other hand, after everything he went through, just wanted to revel in this moment
"It's good to be back, Darc," he responded softly.
Darci smiled at him and was totally digging his wedding look. "Looking good in a tux, TP,"
Aaarrrgghh nodded in agreement. "Mmm, Fancy,"
Toby put his hands on his hips and smirked. "Oh, well, yeah I do gotta look awesome-sauce for Dr. L's wedding, am I right?"
The gang laughed and finally went inside the house. Everyone headed towards the backyard except for Jim, who waited by the stairs. Toby and Claire looked back at him and gave him a nod of good luck before walking out the door.
Later that evening, more guests arrived and filled the seats in the backyard and Strickler waited for his bride at the altar. Blinky stood behind the stand mic with a piece of heartstone in his hand. Nomura stood by where Barbara soon would be. After all the help she's gotten and the time they spent together, Nomura became so close to Barbara that she gladly accepted her request to be her maid of honor. They were surrounded by a magical, embellished flower arch made by none other than Nari. Bright lights twinkled all around the place and soft, mellow tunes filled the atmosphere, played by both Krel on his keyboard and Douxie on his guitar. They high-fived each other for successfully setting a romantic mood.
Jim stood inside his house and then suddenly, he heard click-clacking from the stairs. It was his mother, so beautiful in her lace white dress. He couldn't help but tear up at the sight of his mom finally being happy again. She made it down the stairs and wrapped Jim in a warm hug.
"I love you so much, kiddo," Barbara told her son as her voice began to break. "I'm so proud of how far you've come and couldn't be any happier to be walked down the aisle by my beautiful boy,"
Jim held her even tighter as he chuckled lightly, tears falling down his cheeks. Barbara then looked at him lovingly as she wiped his tears. She leaned forward to kiss his forehead, then put her arms in his as they began heading towards the back door.
The guests looked around as the beautiful bride made her way down the aisle. Strickler couldn't stop gazing and smiling at his soon-to-be wife as she walked towards him, returning his smile. Barbara finally stood looking towards him and Jim stood by Strickler's side as his best man. Blinky finally cleared his throat and approached the mic.
"Greetings everyone. We are gathered here today to join our dearly beloved Barbara Lake and Walter Strickler in holy matrimony. After everything that has transpired in Arcadia over the past few years, what a blessing it is for all of us to congregate here to cherish and celebrate this union. Despite all the trials and tribulations that have been faced by this lovely pair, well of course the unusual beginning they’ve had..."
Strickler cleared his throat, interrupting Blinky’s speech. Jim couldn’t resist letting out a little chuckle. “Uh, Mr Blinky,” Barbara whispered. “We don’t need to go into all the details. What’s in the past can stay in the past. What’s most important is the here and now,”
“Right, right, right,” Blinky continued clumsily. “These two warriors have persevered through it all, the thick and the thin leading up to this very special moment. From this day forth, they will continue to strive and triumph together for the rest of their lives. Now may I have the rings?”
The audience clapped while Blinky signaled for Archie to fly over and bring the cushion that bore the rings.
“Now both of you place your hands on this heartstone as you say your vows. Do you, Walter Strickler, take Barbara Lake to be your lawfully wedded wife?”
Strickler took a deep breath, then smiled wholeheartedly and answered. “Yes, I do,” Followed by the clapping in the audience, Blinky turned to face Barbara.
“Do you, Barbara Lake, take Walter Strickler to be your lawfully wedded husband?”
“I do” Barbara responded softly, with light tears in her eyes as she smiled brightly at her soon-to-be husband. They let go of the glowing heartstone, then took their rings and gently placed them on each of their left ring fingers. They finally held hands tightly in excitement and couldn’t take their eyes off of each other.
“I now pronounce you husband and wife, you may now kiss,”
Strickler pulled Barbara closer to him and they finally leaned in for a warm kiss. Loud cheers spread throughout the audience with some sniffles of joy. Jim stood by wiping tears off his cheeks. Finally! Nothing brought more happiness into his heart than to see his own mother finally again, just as she deserved. And never did he expect that someone he once resented would eventually become someone so dear to both him and his mother.
Claire looked towards Douxie across the front row and they both nodded. Absorbing shadows from around her, she released a couple of black and purple shimmering doves into the sky and in turn, Douxie cast out beautiful blue sparkles to light up the scene even more. A round of oohs and aahs echoed was followed by a standing ovation.
A few moments later, Barbara turned around and was ready to throw the bouquet to a competitive crowd of single ladies of all ages and… Varvatos, who’s made it his quest to be the next in line for Nancy. As the bouquet suddenly flew into the air and was falling back down, out of nowhere, a shadow portal opened and swallowed it up. The audience gasped and looked around in confusion as another portal opened and the bouquet was caught by Claire. She glanced over at Jim whose eyes widened and cheeks turned pure red. In response, she winked at him as he sheepishly smiled back and waved. All the other ladies grunted and Mary and Darci approached her.
“Claire Bear! You’re not supposed to do that here! That’s cheating!” Darci told her with her arms crossed while Mary nodded in agreement. Claire chuckled and held the bouquet victoriously as she went to sit back down. “Um, I don’t remember there being a rule book for bouquet tosses as far as I’m concerned,”
“Preposterous!” Exclaimed Varvatos. “It should’ve been I who won this battle for Nancy!” He heard Nancy walk up to him giggling and grabbing his arm. “Oh Varvatos, you don’t need a bouquet to marry me! I’m way past that!” Varvatos’s eyes glew up and he let out a big smile. “Glorious!” He yelled. laughing maniacally.
Later that night, everyone got up and slow-danced to the sweet, charming tunes that Krel played. Douxie danced with Zoe, who he finally caught up with and they got to hunt niffins and grab burgers together as promised. Toby and Darci danced together and enjoyed their well-needed reunion, sharing a few kisses here and there. While Steve and Aja danced, they discussed their future plans and whether they would be together on Akiridion-5 or remain long distance.
“Well now, since we got wormholes and stuff, maybe I could come to you more often on Akiridion-5 while finishing college and who knows what will happen next?” Steve started as he held Aja and slightly dipped her. She smiled back at him and pushed her hair behind her ear. “You know, I really miss this mudball and seeing you more. I think maybe I too, should come visit and go on more Earth dates,”
Jim shared a short and sweet dance with mother then hugged her so tightly, before Strickler walked over to them and asked if could borrow his wife for another dance. Jim went over to Krel’s turntable and whispered something in his ears. Suddenly the music stopped as Krel plugged Jim’s phone to his turntable and pressed play.
Claire sat and chatted with Mary and a couple of friends when she suddenly froze. It was a familiar melody that took her back to the night of Spring Fling, her first ever dance with Jim. The guitar strings of Eres Tu played as she turned around and saw Jim hold out his hands to her. She looked up at him smiling and grabbed his hand. She got up and walked with him further away from the crowd until they were almost alone but could still hear the song. They started dancing as the Spanish lyrics began to be sung, while Jim sang along parts of the song, just like last time.
“Nice little trick you did back there with the flowers,” Jim joked as he spun her around. Claire chuckled and blushed a little. “Oh I bet you wanted me to be the one to catch it. But don’t worry, there’s no rushing into this. We just enjoy every moment together and take this all little by little, ok?” She assured him. He smiled back at her and stroked her cheek. It was so good that they finally got to enjoy this moment of peace without needing to defeat gumm-gumms or evil wizards trying to destroy the world. For both of them, it was a relief that neither of them felt the need to dread any upcoming battles hopefully for years to come. Without any further talking, they just danced together slowly reminiscing their beautiful memories they’ve had throughout their relationship, putting a warm smile on each of their faces. Jim spun Claire, then hugged her from behind and kissed her cheek, while Claire’s smile only got bigger and brighter.
From a distance, Barbara and Walter watched Jim dance with Claire while they too danced. “You’ve raised an amazing son, Barbara. Young Atlas has come so far in life and he wouldn’t have become the man he did without an amazing mother like you,”
“He’s also had a wonderful person like you come into his life and help him grow a lot. I couldn’t be more thankful he had you and Mr. Blinky help him become a strong trollhunter,”
The stars continued glimmering in the night sky as everyone enjoyed the rest of the wedding. A cool breeze blew through and the petals on the flowers and the twinkling lights slowly flowed along. The heroes of Arcadia have truly found an adventure worth telling for generations to come, whether it was on Earth, the caverns below, or on Akiridion-5. It was a one of a kind adventure that each hero will continue to remember and hold onto no matter what comes next. Despite all the trauma and heartbreak they all went through, they have also gained so much strength and wisdom, along with many great allies that will always stay together whatever comes next.
~~~
Thank you so much for reading this fic! I know this was super long but I definitely put in a lot of stuff that I wanted to see in the TOA series, including Aja and Claire bonding and a happy ending with a Stricklake wedding! I know this isn’t the best I’ve written and that I wasn’t able to give each character but I’m glad I was able to get it done! Stay tuned for more and hopefully more focus on other characters!
oc headcanon dump !!
Talise! 🪴
their best friend in the whole world is Mikey, no question about it.
they met April in middle school and lured her into their illegal potion-selling business. they ran it for two years together before getting caught.
the potions were nothing special, talise just had access to luster dust and would make concoctions of random liquids and toss in a little dust to make it look fancy, or for a drinkable option they'd use gatorade or a specific juice with a little luster dust. they and April made a surprising amount of money and even after getting caught their principal was impressed with how tightly run the operation was.
Talise is a self-care legend. they make their own face masks and sugar scrubs and regularly have April and the guys over to decompress and take care of themselves. they always make tea and the group will sit around pampering themselves while spilling their own tea, it's all-around a great time. Leo in particular loves dropping in for self-care sessions.
their favorite genre of music is rock but like, 2000's screamo and dad rock.
talise can play the guitar and base, and has a small collection of instruments in their room.
they're a firm believer that magic and science coexist and actually compliment each other, but they intentionally claim that magic is capable of more than science just to see Donnie get mad.
talise is a powerful psychic, and can manipulate mystic energy, which is all pretty nifty stuff if you ask them.
of all the things they can do, though, their favorite thing to do is to lift others with their mind. they used to lift Mikey a lot, but post-movie Mikey learns how to levitate pretty quickly and now the two of them just float around the lair and terrorize everyone else.
talise was that kid that offered to pierce your ears during recess with an ice cube and an apple slice and they never once had any of their "clients" get infected.
atari! 👾
mom friend of the year.
her purse is so big and carries the solution to every problem she's so ready for everything.
she, Raph, and Cassandra are all joined at the hip they love each other so much and help each other through so much.
Atari isn't much of a fighter but she'll knock you out cold if she has to, she was taught self-defense by literal ninjas you do not want to fuck with her.
Leo is 100% the family medic, but he learned a lot of what he knows from Atari.
she may be short and the boys may be very protective of her, but Atari is very much the big sister here. she's six years older than Raph and she won't be letting him or anyone else forget it.
taught Mikey how to bake, they regularly bake together!
she loves interior design and has helped everyone in her circle redecorate at least once before.
she worked as an er nurse for three months before deciding she wasn't a huge fan of the hospital scene and switched to working in a doctor's office as a physician's assistant.
she's a dancing queen!!!!!! she loves to dance and has a soft spot for disco but she doesn't talk about it often.
vinny! 🧪
Leo's single greatest regret in life was getting Vinny to hang out with Donnie. they're a terrifying duo and Leo lives in perpetual fear of them.
she's very science-minded, and where Donnie excels in robotics and technology she has a knack for chemistry and biology.
Vinny knows where her mother lives and visits her often, but only to check on her from a distance. after over a half of a decade she feels like she's missed her chance to properly reunite and settles for this instead.
she used to take piano and drum lessons, and when she snuck out during her battle nexus days she continued learning, and has since picked up guitar as well.
Vinny is bilingual and speaks Spanish and English!
she's highly competitive and stubborn, if you start a debate with her she won't drop it until she's won.
she's the same species as the Geico gecko and she's mad about it, don't bring it up.
she has a cloaking necklace that she occasionally wears if she wants to go out and explore.
she's a huge fan of Lou Jitsu and bonded with Splinter before any of the turtles because of her admiration for him and because of their shared experiences as nexus champions. she's especially fond of teasing him over his past relationship with Big Mama.
Vinny loves old cartoons, Darkwing Duck is her favorite!
Rhys! 🪩
he gets unexpectedly close with Cassandra that's his best friend!!
he's also bilingual and speaks Spanish and English.
street dancing is his thing, especially hip hop and popping, but Rhys has a love for more formal dancing as well and is learning new styles.
he can't stand clothes and wears them sparingly. it's not like he has a need for them, you know?
like regular painted turtles, Rhys' shell sheds and has rings you can use to see how old he is.
he's a very talented swimmer, and takes every opportunity to get in the water whenever possible.
Rhys also has a cloaking watch, but he doesn't like cloaking and only keeps the watch to let others borrow it whenever they want to.
along with dancing, Rhys also enjoys playing basketball and will beat just about anyone.
100% the type to play devil's advocate just for the chaos of it all.
also 100% a theater kid, he's making it everyone's problem.
Artemisia! 🫖
she picks her favorite color based on which of the turtles is her favorite brother.
if Artemisia likes you, she lets you know by stealing an article of clothing.
absolutely ruthless with the "it's because i'm blind, isn't it?" jokes just because she enjoys how people respond.
technically she still lives with Draxum, but after learning everything she considers Splinter her dad and spends a lot of time in the lair with his side of the family.
more often than not she spends her nights in the lair, drinking tea with Leo and gossiping.
she and April have girls' nights every weekend, absolutely no one knows what they get up to and they're sworn to secrecy about it.
100% a pop princess, she's an Ariana Grande stan and will fight you if you say anything about it.
she used to grow out her hair and wear high ponytails, but cut it after getting gum caught in it once and hasn't looked back.
this girl lives for the drama. she knows everyone's secrets and is the one person who will actually keep those secrets to herself.
y2k fashion queen, it's everyone's problem.
The Top 10 Best Ino Yamanaka Moments in Naruto and Naruto Shippuden Manga 🏆:
10🎖- Healing Naruto
Tumblr media
Apart from Ino's Yamanaka Clan Techniques, Mind Reading Techniques and Sensory Perception, Ino is also a Medical Ninja. The Databook explains Ino learned medical ninjutsu with her thirsts for knowledge and good instincts. It also explains she is skilled enough to make immediate conclusions on a patient's condition and heal fatal wounds. However, her Medical Abilities were never really explored in the Manga, specifically. The manga has only two moments of Ino using her Medical Ninjutsu: One is her failed attempt to save Asuma from death, and second is her healing Naruto after his first use of Wind Release: Rasenshuriken against Kakuzu in Team 10's quest to take revenge for Asuma. As we all know, the Rasen-Shuriken was declared to be a dangerous poison by Tsunade, the Greatest Medical Ninja of all time, because it inflicts a severe damage to the user and hence it was forbidden. As such after Naruto's first use of this technique, he was in a serious condition, and without the medical aid from Ino, it was highly unlikely Naruto could have survived until they reached Konoha for further treatment. Eventhough not very noticeable, it was Ino's best moment with Medical ninjutsu in the manga.
9🎖- Her part in the Ino-Shika-Cho Formation-E (Human Bullet Yo-Yo) in the War
Tumblr media
Formation Ino–Shika–Chō are formations used by the members of the Yamanaka, Nara, and Akimichi clan members designed to use each member's abilities in the best way possible that complements the others, as a result of their long history of working together. Shikamaru, Ino and Chōji represents the 16th generation of this legendary Ino-Shika-Chō trio, with each one of them being equally crucial for every formation. Their one of the most iconic moment is the formation E (Human Bullet Yo-Yo) they used in the War, against the Mini Ten-Tail Clones. In this formation, Chōji increases his size, while Shikamaru connects their two shadows. At the same time, Ino detects any enemies with her sensory ninjutsu and transmits this information directly to Shikamaru. As Chōji begins to attack with the Human Bullet Tank technique, Ino continues to track their opponents so that Shikamaru can direct Chōji's movement by manipulating the shadow. In the telepathic dimension of Ino and Shikamaru, this technique when shown as a silhouette looks similar to Ultraman. This is the moment Ino demonstrated her great sensory perception, as well as her new ability of combining her telepathy with her sensory perception to relay what she senses to her allies, being one of the best moments of Ino.
8🎖- Spying on the Akatsuki
Tumblr media
In Team 10's quest to take revenge for Asuma's death from the monstrous Akatsuki Organization, their first task was to locate the Akatsuki duo who murdered their sensei. As mentioned by Kakashi, it was going to be quite a wide search, and of course, Ino, being a Yamanaka, was best suited for reconnaissance and espionage in the team. Ino used her Mind Transfer Jutsu on a Hawk to recon the entire desert to pinpoint the location of their target. This was the first and only time in the Manga Ino used the Mind Transfer Jutsu for what it is originally intended to: Spying. This also revealed that Ino gets access to all the abilities of the victim of her possession, such as being able to fly when she possessed a bird. Thus, Ino became the key to Team 10's fight against the Akatsuki, and eventhough Ino was not able to contribute much during the fight, due to her status as a medical ninja and her abilities not being suited for battles, Ino fulfilled her role as a spy, medical assistance and sensor for the team perfectly.
7🎖- Saving Choji's life twice from Edo-Asuma
Tumblr media
In the Fourth Shinobi World War, the most challenging moment for Team 10 was having to fight against their reanimated late sensei, Asuma. Out of the three, Chōji was most hesitant at confronting his teacher while Ino and Shikamaru suppressed their emotions as they realized they are the only ones who can stop Asuma with the least risk to the Army. Throughout the fight Chōji failed to hit Asuma twice; Both of the times putting himself into risks. Both of these times, the one who saved his life was Ino. First time, Ino tackled Chōji away from Asuma's Dust Cloud Jutsu with her impressive strength and speed, while shikamaru failed to react so quickly to save him. Second time, when Chōji gets distracted midway before landing a blow, Asuma takes the advantage and attacks him. Chōji however stops Asuma's attack, much to everyone's shock to see Chōji reacting, before realising that it was Ino who had transferred her consciousness into him, saving his life once more which also lead Shikamaru to comment on Ino's quick thinking. Ino, while present in Chōji's body fought Asuma one-on-one with her surprisingly impressive Taijutsu. In this fight, Ino also demonstrated her new ability of taking control over more than one body at once. Being useful for the teammates, being able to fight side by side with them while saving their lives is indeed one of the greatest achievement for a female in Naruto.
6🎖- Catching Sakura in her Chakra Hair Trap
Tumblr media
Ino's strategy against Sakura in the Chunin Exams Preliminarily match was objectively one of the most iconic and best moments of Ino in Naruto Part 1. While seemingly offended by Sakura's insults, Ino cut her hair off in the midst of the battle. Ino then got Sakura into lowering her guard by seemingly using the Mind Transfer Technique, despite Sakura being a moving target. While Sakura easily escaped the Jutsu and thought Ino lost her mind, Ino actually didn't use the technique and used her scattered hair to create a chakra rope to restrain Sakura's movements, and thus, guaranteed that her Mind Body Switch Technique won't miss. She then reveals her previous attempt of using the Mind Transfer Jutsu was all an act, to fool Sakura so that she'll run right into her trap. Not only she surprised Sakura with this strategy, but the entire Chūnin Exam audience including her own teammates and Jōnins like Asuma and Kakashi as well because no one could predict Ino's strategy and no one believed Ino could hit Sakura with her jutsu. It was a perfect portrayal of Ino's battle intelligence and the fact that she graduated top from her academy class and that she was an exceptional female among the rookie kunoichis.
5🏅- Striking 'poisonous' flowers into a bully's mouth
Tumblr media
Ino's most admirable personality trait is that she radiates herself with self-love and confidence while pushing others to do the same. She loves nurturing flower buds and watching them bloom into beautiful flowers. As such, she took Sakura under her wings, saved her from loneliness, defended her from bullies, supported her and encouraged her to embrace her flaws rather than hiding them. Throughout the years Ino watched Sakura bloom into a beautiful flower, and according to Sakura, she was forever indebted. Once when they were kids, while collecting flowers for an academy lesson, Sakura was confronted by some bullies. Ino quickly chased them away by striking some flowers into one of the bully's mouth and claiming it to be 'poisonous'. Ino apologized for mistaking them for flower vases because their 'heads were so empty'. When the bullies escaped, Ino, the daughter of a botanist explains to Sakura that only the root-tip of that particular flower species is poisonous and hence it'll cause no harm to them. Sakura, like all of us couldn't help but admire Ino's skills, vast knowledge and maturity even as a little kid. This was certainly iconic coming from a 7-9 year old girl.
4🏅- Stepping in to save Team 7 in the Forest of Death
Tumblr media
Ino's sweet friendship with Sakura did not end well. When Sakura was finally able to get a hold of herself, she found out Ino has a crush on the same boy she does. Not wanting to be under Ino's shadow anymore, Sakura took an end to their friendship, decalring Ino as her rival with an aim to surpass her. Ino accepted the rivalry resigned to the fate. While in the Forest of Death for the second phase of the Chūnin Exams, Ino and her teammates witnessed Sakura attempting to protect Naruto, Sasuke and Lee who were all unconscious from some dangerous Orochimaru's pawns. While Sakura was terribly getting beaten to death, Ino had to take a very tough decision; whether to save her and her teammates lives and escape or to step in to save Sakura and her teammates. Despite the rivalry with Sakura, Despite Team 10 being the weakest trio in the Chūnin Exams thus having no chance against those opponents, and despite being in a competition with one another, Ino's decision was to risk her and her teammates lives to help Sakura. An exemplary for Ino's bravery and the love she still has for Sakura. Ino's decision to help Sakura not only saved Sakura, but Sasuke, Naruto and Lee as well. Team 10 was able to put up a fight and buy enough time for Sasuke to wake up.
🥉- Shutting down Kinkaku
Tumblr media
Kinkaku was a Pseudo-Jinchuriki of the Nine-Tailed Beast as well as a descendant of the Sage of Six Paths, the God himself. He is well-known for his prowess, causing shinobis to tremble in fear when he saw him. Along with his brother, Kinkaku was able to defeat the Second Hokage, Tobirama, leaving him on the brink of death. When reanimated in the Fourth Shinobi World War, Kinkaku alone nearly demolished the entire First Division and inflicted massive casualties, nearly leading the Fourth Raikage to disregard his duties as leader of the Allied Shinobi Forces in order to personally confront him. No one was strong enough to even restrain him, he quickly got rid of Choji's Human Boulder and easily broke-off Shikamaru's Shadow Possession. However, Kinkaku was outdone by Ino's Mind Transfer Technique. Ino defeated him by taking the control over his body shutting him down, forcing him to respond to Darui, who had Kohaku no Jōhei, ultimately sealing him. This lead Ino's father Inoichi to compliment her strength and speed of the Mind Transfer Jutsu. Being able to defeat Kinkaku was undoubtedly one of the Ino's biggest feat which surprised us all.
🥈- Connecting everyone in the entire Shinobi Alliance with a telepathic link
Tumblr media
In the Fourth Shinobi World War, after the Headquater of the Allied Shinobi Forces was annihilated by Ten-Tail's attack, Ino was bound to replace her father's role in the Headquarter. Right after her father's death, with no time to grieve, she became the Head of the Communications for the Allied Shinobi Forces. With the Yamanaka Clan's Telepathy technique, Ino surpassed her own limits and successfully managed to connect every single shinobi in the battlefield via a two-way telepathic link for all the communications made within the alliance, without using a head gear for her aid. She connected everyone together in multiple occasions, most significant moments include relaying the Hand Signs of an Earth-Style Jutsu to everyone in order to summon thousands of defensive walls to sheild against another Tailed Beast Bomb, connecting Hashirama to the approaching 5 Kages and the rest of the shinobi alliance to relay his plans, Connecting Shikamaru to the Alliance to motivate them, Transmitting Naruto and Hashirama's feelings and memories to everyone reuniting the Shinobi Alliance once more, etc. Some may argue this was her best moment.
🥇- Controlling the Ten-Tails twice
Tumblr media
The Ten-Tails is said to be the progenitor of all that exists in the world. A God that created countries, it has the power to swallow oceans, split the land, and carry mountains. It was a combined form of a God, Kaguya Ōtsutsuki and the God Tree, the Origin of Chakra and all the Tailed Beasts. It was the strongest creature on Earth, utilising which Obito and Madara decalred a world war against the 5 Great Shinobi Nations. Ino, using her Mind Transfer Jutsu managed to control this Godly creature twice throughout the war. She achieved it by possessing Obito, and using him as a mean to control the Ten-Tails both the times. First time, she misdirected Ten-Tail's Beast Ball attack from the Shinobi Alliance, saving everyone's life, including Naruto's, low-key saving the world. Second time, amped with Kurama chakra, she managed to restrain the movements of Ten-Tails and redirect it's wooden spike attacks from a group of Ninjas saving their lives. Being able to control Ten-Tails twice is indeed the best feat of Ino in the entire series.
...Or will they be another victim of the cruel shinobi world they are both a part of?
Tumblr media
Chapter Three
She was barely three when their paths first met. She had his attention for about ten minutes then that was it for the first meeting. It was because of her age and her last name. The Senju clan, nowadays, was only seen or heard in their history textbooks. Now there was one standing right infront of the class.
This is new. He remembered thinking.
They never really interacted because he was a chūnin a week later. She didn’t really notice his departure either. All she knew was the. class celebrated for something and the boy with the scarf was gone.
She stayed in the academy until she was six. She was hardly at school in her first year and the teachers didn’t question it. She was still young after all. She can take her time. She spent most of her days that year in the Medical Division of Konohagakure. She can learn ninjutsu from a lot of people but there was only one person to learn medical ninjutsu from.
Their paths crossed again when she was nine. Her mother just left. Jiraiya was knee-deep in his travels and she was stayed with her master, Inoichi Yamanka, before she moved to her own apartment. The Senju compound was too big for to live in alone.
Minato was teaching her a jutsu when the team he was leading arrived. This time he was able to introduce himself.
“Kakashi Hatake.” He said, almost too impatiently.
“Nice too meet you.” She replied, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
She stayed with them for the rest of the afternoon then tagged along for a couple of B-Rank missions. They never talked more than what was needed. Rin became good friends with her. Obito was amused to see the girls braiding each other’s hair.
Minato, along with Inoichi Yamanaka, took her under their wing. They said she was special.
More than me? He so carelessly thought back then.
He wouldn’t realize until years later that she was so unique she became dispensable.
Because of her training with Minato, Akira became close to his-then girlfriend, Kushina. Kakashi saw how close they became they were almost like sisters.
Akira became a permanent figure in Kakashi’s life. They mostly ignored each other’s presence but he got so used to seeing her in the takoyaki shop he half-expected her to be there everytime he walked by. She wasn’t always with friends, most of the time she ate there on her own, in the same spot every single time.
That was until Team Minato was pulled into a mission. When they came back, she was nowhere to be found. At first no one was really bothered. After all, they were all shinobis and when duty calls, they go. But then weeks turned into months and still not even Akira’s shadow was seen. Rumors began spreading in the ranks about her whereabouts. Some says she was in a long term mission in the Land of Rains, others say she was captured and was being held and even Kurenai, who was like her older sister, together with the rest of their batch had no idea where she was or if she was in a mission. He heard Asuma talking about how he asked the Third Hokage about Akira, however, much to their dismay, his lips remained shut and he simply dismissed his son from his office.
Finally, Rin gathered her courage and asked their own sense if he knew anything about this. Minato fought with himself for a while. It was classified information but seeing the look from his students even Kakashi was enough him to give in. He made them swore to never breathe a word of what he was about to say.
“She joined the ANBU Black Ops.” Rin gasped. Obito’s jaw hung wide open. Kakashi who always seemed to be unfazed struggled to keep his cold composture together. They didn’t see that coming. Not in a million years. Kakashi remembered how her name was so fitting for her. She was always so...bright. She was like the sun on a beautiful day. Wherever you go, or whoever you are she will always graze you with her presence like the rays of a sunlight. She lacked the darkness necessary to be an ANBU. She was the complete opposite of those people.
“The Third Hokage allowed it?” Obito asked. Lord Third treated Akira like his very own grand-daughter. After all, she was the daughter of one of his legendary students. It was only fitting that he looed after all while her mother was unavailable.
“ No. He didn’t.” Minato replied.
“ She joined The Foundation.”
—————
He didn’t see her again until Rin’s death. Once, he had asked Minato why Akira was always sent on dangerous missions. Missions they usually were not allowed to do until they were further into their career. This took Minato by surprise. He didn’t know Kakashi had been observing the girl since he usually ignored her presence and vice-versa. The time the two would acknowledge each other is through their relentless bickering due to the fact that no one wants to admit they’re wrong and often times than not, it ends in a full-blown fight between the two prodigies.
Minato eyed the silver-haired ninja. He was usually not bothered by anything that doesn’t have to do with abiding with the rules but the look on his face was clear enough for Minato to realize that this was not the case.
“Being unique isn’t always good.” Minato started.
“You know she uses Wood Release right?”
Kakashi silently nodded. That was common knowledge in the village. Even in the neigboring lands, her reputation preceded her.
“Villages seek power to protect their lands. Right now, Akira is one of the greatest threats to their lands that’s why we train her as hard as we possibly can. A lot of people wants to hurt her and use her for their own good. They want to use one of our own against us.” He remembered Minato saying.
During Rin’s funeral, he caught only a glimpse of her from where he stood by the trees. She was at the back despite being a close friend of Rin’s. She stood silently and kept her eyes firmly on the floor. Kakashi wouldn’t have recognized her if it weren’t for her golden hair that stood out among the sea of dark colored heads. She’s so different. Everything’s changed so much. After a few hi’s and hello’s, she was once again gone. But despite the dark hole Kakashi fell into, for some reason, the girl with the blonde hair never completely left the his mind.
—————
The first time she actually talked to him first, he just joined the ANBU under the Fourth Hokage’s Command.
“I guess we’re teammates now.’ She said removing a wolf-shaped mask. He looked up from the bench he was sitting on in the locker rooms.
A grin was plastered on her face.He immediately recognized her voice though it’s been years since he last heard it. She was twelve and he was just about to turn fourteen that day. But they were so much older and wiser than the kids their age. They had witnessed so many deaths to be called children.
It was the burden of being one of a kind.
They now worked often with each other since they are now both under the Hokage’s command. Gone were the days of bickering and throwing insults at each other. He now knew the burden of being an ANBU. He wondered how much worse she had to do while under Lord Danzo’s command. How many had she killed? Can she even count it at this point?
Minato, after being named Hokage, recruited Akira back from The Foundation to his own a little too quickly than the elders were comfortable with. But the Yondaime Hokage was adamant to have Akira back on his care knowing how much the irreversible damage The Foundation can cause to a person.
Even now, the changes in Akira’s disposition was easily seen by those who knew her before her time in the Root. She still smiled and laughed like she did before but her eyes no longer had the same shine they had before. She tried to hide it. But Kakashi wasn’t so easily fooled. She was just glad he never said a single word about it.
Kakashi and Akira were placed on different teams. She was already leading a group of three people twice her size when he joined but every now and then, when the circumstances call for it, they will be paired together. An unspoken rule was formed between the two. As the only living members of Team Minato (though she tagged along for only a couple of missions) they were to protect each other as best they can.
Though she didn’t need much protection, Kakashi kept an eye on her for old times sake. Just like a few years earlier, they didn’t really talked much during their time in the ANBU. He was too busy wallowing in his guilt and she was kind enough to leave him in in his own knowing it was what he wanted but not exactly what he needed. All she could do was keep an eye on him and make sure he knows that she was there if he needed her.
Their relationship didn’t change from what it was during the time of Team Minato but this time, they treated each other with the utmost respect. They were comrades now. Though the rules of the ANBU stated that the mission comes first, they both knew they had each other’s back. After all, among their classmates, the two of them are the only ones who understood the loneliness of being an ANBU.
Of being truly and utterly alone.
—————
He knew she was brave. She had proven it time and time again. He had seen it from their time together when they were younger, they had heard stories from the older shinobis who had worked with her, and he saw it again every time they were paired in a mission. There was no question that she was brave but that night during the Kyūubi Attack, he was almost certain she too was looking for an easy way to just die. He had a good reason. Unlike her, he was dispensable. He had no one. All he had was the nightmares that haunt him at night. The faces of his fallen teammates and the cold body of his father playing again and again like a broken record every time he closes his eyes. That was all he had. If he dies, people would mourn, yes, but they would move on and go about their life. They would eventually forget and he would always remain the ninja who killed his friend to others.
He had no real purpose. He doesn’t have anyone left to protect. Or to live for.
She was different. She was loved by everyone. She was alone most of the time but she still had Jiraiya who comes and visit every now and then. She had a purpose. She had a reason to live.
Or so he thought.
They were placed inside a barrier the night of the Nine-Tails Attack. The elders said it wasn’t their fight. They have to sit this one out so they could live another day.
Kakashi looked around the group that they have formed. Most of his former classmates were on the front of the pack together with a few other shinobis their age but as he scanned the crowd, he quickly realized Akira was not among them.
He knew she took her first day off in months today. She had deliberately worked during her time off in order to gain more experience and training. Kakashi always thought how Akira seemed to always seem to act as if she was running out of time and how she wouldn’t take rest until she was forced to by the injuries she acquired during her missions.
This time was no different. She came back from a mission in the Land of Lighting only a couple of days ago and if it wasn’t for the direct order from the Hokage to take a break, she would have been out for another one by this time. He was unusually aware that she was hardly in the village these days.
It was a few minutes later when Akira’s figure emerged from the woods. She stopped dead at her tracks halfway into the clearing. A look of confusion was visible on her face as she scanned the scene ahead of her. What the hell?
Kakashi watched as Akira stopped dead in her tracks and stiffened as she took in the scene in front of her. For a moment, their eyes met and almost instantly, the look of confusion was gone in her face replaced with outrage.
She shoved the two jonins on her either side then she was on the run back to the village. Her path was quickly blocked by more leaf shinobis assigned to keep the younger ninjas safe.
“Lady Akira, please.” Shinku Yuhi, Kurenai’s father, pleaded.
“What do you think you’re doing?!” She spatted back. Her eyes were full of rage. This isn’t where she’s supposed to be. She should be where the fighting is, not kept away from it. This isn’t what she’s been training for.
“We’re just followi-“ He wasn’t able to finish his sentence because Akira was on him. pinning him down with earth style.
Kakashi and the rest of the group inside the barrier couldn’t do anything but watch as Akira battled five jōnins at once. Their mouths hung wide open as they saw firsthand Akira’s proficiency in using the wood style. The group, excluding Kakashi, had never seen someone use wood style in person. Despite the common knowledge that Akira was a wood style user, she only uses it as a last resort knowing that it would only gain more unwanted attention in terms of her capabilities. She usually relies on other nature transformations as much as she can.
This was the first time for most of the people in the clearing see someone use wood style and handle it with such finesse and ease as well. They thought that her skills was on full display that night but Kakashi knew how much she was trying to hold back. He knew she would have defeated them if she wasn’t being as cautious as she is in making sure to not harm any of her comrades and if she wasn’t still recovering from her recent injuries.
Eventually, Akira was outnumbered by the seven jōnins who fought with her and they tackled her to the ground. Her cheek pressed on the dirt as they tied her hands behind her back and made sure she could not weave any more signs.
She could see her classmates staring at her in shock. They haven’t really seen her in action as she didn’t officially join any team after graduation. They had no idea what she can do. Or what I’ve done.
Once she was in the barrier Kurenai quickly untied the younger girl’s hand. Akira was still half a foot shorter than herself but she seemed so much older already.
Akira relentlessly pounded on the barrier. Her right hand was still bandaged but her hits did not falter.
“Listen, I know you have your orders but it doesn’t include me! I can help capture the nine tails with wood style! Don’t you understand that?!” She was practically screaming at her superiors standing only a fees feet away. She was trained to fight. To save the village. To not let anyone get hurt, to help the Hokage the best she can. That was what they drilled into her brain growing up. There was a reason she had all these abilities and she should use to help others. Being stuck inside a barrier wasn’t part of any plan.
“Lord Third specifically mentioned you, Akira.” Shinku replied. Akira was confused. She was the protector not the one who needed protecting. She would gladly lay her life for the billage but now, they’re asking her to sit back and watch the village burn just so she could remain safe?
“Akira, stop.” Kurenai was barely able to grab her arm mid-punch to keep it from colliding with the barrier once again.
“Damn it!” She gave the barrier once last hit and turned around. She didn’t saw it but the rest did as the barrier flickered and for a moment, a crack appeared from where punched the barrier.
Her abilities were one thing, her raw power were another.
“Just calm down, will you?” Kurenai was on Akira’s heels as she made her way to the back.
“Lord Third must have a reason of he wanted you here, Akira.” Gai chirped in attempt to help Kurenai calm the still seething Akira.
“Orders are orders, Akira. We can’t do anything about that.” Kakashi says. He wanted to fight as bad as she does. He knew Minato was out there fighting the kyūubi and having them in the field would be a great help for the village. Kakashi secretly hoped Akira could somehow break them out of this bubble so they could fulfill their duties instead of being forced to watch as the nine-tails burn their village just because they were not old enough.
“You know I don’t care about orders, Kakashi.”She snapped right back at him. She followed orders because it was the right thing to do, but unlike him, she had no problem on breaking it when push comes to shove.
Akira had already decided what she needed to do when Kurenai noticed. “No,no. Don’t even think about it.” Kurenai had grabbed Akira’s arm and gave her a stern look. She can’t do this.
“You can die.” Akira didn’t need any reminder. She was aware of the risks she as taking but she couldn’t care less about that right now. There were just some things that had to be done no matter what the consequences were.
“Only one way to know.” She said, already performing the hand signs for the jutsu. She’ll deal with the consequences for her action later, for now, she’ll do what she knows is right.
“Ghost Transformation Jutsu!” Akira’s body fell on the ground as her soul ascended. She was engulfed in a white glow as the others watched in awe. She didn’t waste any more time and disappeared in the sky like a shooting star to the direction of their village. She didn’t know if she can comeback to her body as she hadn’t mastered the jutsu yet and Inoichi had strongly discouraged in practicing without his guidance. She still haven’t got the right skill and the possibility of her being stuck in this form until her death was much greater than she would like to admit.
Kurenai watched as the girl’s body fell onto the ground as her soul left her body and into the night. She barely caught Akira’s head before her body collided on the soil. She was well-aware of the fact that Inoichi had barred Akira in practicing this jutsu without his guidance proving that the jutsu was more dangerous than what Akira could handle at the moment. It was no simple technique that could be undone in a matter of days. They were talking about life and death on this one.
The people outside the barrier were also alarmed of the what Akira had done. They were former comrades with her father, Dan, and they were well aware of the implications that came in using this jutsu. Even with Akira’s huge chakra reserves, she could still potentially ran out of it if she wasn’t careful of her actions.
They soon realized Akira was not being careful at all as blood soaked through her shirt and the land beneath her darkened from the massive amount of blood leaving her body.
No one knew what happened but a loud explosion was heard from where they were and the next thing they knew, Akira was just bleeding on the ground.
Kakashi was quick to react and firmly pressed his hands on Akira’s wounds on her midsection. There was just so much blood oozing out of her wound despite the pressure Kakashi was putting on. Kurenai was nearly in tears as she held the smaller girl’s head in her lap.
“It’s the jutsu.” Kurenai said when Kakashi’s clearly worried eye met hers. “Whatever happens to her soul also happens to her body.”
She was unconscious for two weeks. People wondered if another name was to be added in the already long list of the people who lost their lives that night.
What happened with her, the Third Hokage was the only one alive who knows.
Next Up: LOTS of Kakashi fluff.
The Hokage of Konoha
Tumblr media
A Hokage is the one who is in charge of the management of Konoha, the Village Hidden by the Leaves . He has the same functions as a mayor of any municipality in our reality. He is usually chosen because he is the most powerful Shinobi in the village, but also for other important criteria, namely his ideology and fame. To date, only seven ninjas have succeeded at the Hokage post in Konoha village. These are six Shinobis and a kunoichi (female ninja) without forgetting another ninja who was able to obtain the status of Candidate for the post of Hokage: Danzô Shimura. In the event that the Hokage in place dies or is unable to run the village, it is up to the Konoha council and the council of the Daimyô of Fire  🔥 (who governs the Land of Fire) to select a replacement at most. fast. Once the new Candidate for the Position of Hokage has been chosen, it remains for him to be validated by the Jônin of the village. If accepted, he can then access the residence dedicated to the Hokage. Subsequently, a sculpture of his face is made on the Hokage Monument next to those already present on the cliff overlooking the village.
Premier Hokage: Hashirama Senju
Tumblr media
Known by the nickname "God of the Shinobi", Hashirama Senju was the first Hokage (Shodai Hokage) of Konoha. He is the big brother of Tobirama Senju who became the Second Hokage (Nidaime Hokage) and also the grandfather of Tsunade (Fifth Hokage - Godaime Hokage). Note that he is also the grandfather of the young genin Nawaki who died the day after his 12th birthday during his first mission due to an explosion. 💥 Leader of the Senju Clan of the forest, He was also one of the founders of the Village in collaboration with Madara of the Uchiha Clan after the two formed an alliance between the two families. However, these two characters have always been great rivals as it is said in the legend "Senju vs. Uchiha". Also during his reign as Hokage, a greatest hits of Hashirama was beating Kyûbi the Demon Fox at Nine Tail 's and Madara Uchiha during their legendary duel in the Valley End. However, it turns out that Madara survived her defeat and was able to take on some of the genetic attributes of the First Hokage, specifically the Mokuton, during this fight. You should know that Hashirama Senju was the first ninja recognized for having been able to master the art of Mokuton (woodworking techniques) thanks to his filiation with his ancestor Asura Ôtsutsuki. After his death, several ninjas tried to acquire this genetic gift, like  Danzô Shimura, former head of the Konoha High Council and former leader of Racine, the unofficial branch of Anbu.. He used the experiences of Orochimaru in particular by implanting the DNA of Hashirama Senju in his arms. 💪🏼 There was also Tobi who pretended to be Madara Uchiha and who had Prime Hokage cells in his possession. Note also the case of Yamato, a member of the Anbu special unit in charge of protecting the Kage. When he was a child, he was the result of Orochimaru's experiences with 60 other children and he is the only one who survived the DNA injections of the First Hokage. Yamato therefore found himself now  endowed with the skills of the Shodai Hokage. However Hashirama remains the only ninja who had the ability to best handle Mokuton techniques. He is also seen as one of the most powerful ninjas in the Shinobi world. He died during the First Great Shinobi War under unknown circumstances.
Second Hokage: Tobirama Senju
Tumblr media
After the death of Hashirama Senju, it was Tobirama Senju, his little brother, who was chosen as the new Hokage (Nidaime Hokage - Second Hokage). he is therefore the great-uncle of Tsunade and Nawaki. It is also important to note that he was the sensei of Hiruzen Sarutobi, the latter having succeeded him under the title of Hokage. Tobirama Senju was the greatest user of the Suiton techniques which appealed to the watery nature of the chakra. It is a question of manipulating the water which is carried on the battlefield or of creating it by modifying its chakra in water 💦 even if this technique is more difficult than the first one. Tobirama is also at the origin of the technique of Multi Cloning and that of Invocation - Reincarnation of Souls (Kuchiyose - Edo Tensei) . The latter was subsequently improved by Orochimaru and Kabuto Yakushi to the point that it would have become the most powerful Ninjutsu technique in the ninja world according to Kabuto. During their tenure, Tobirama Senju and A, the Second Raikage of Kumo, suffered an attempted coup orchestrated by the Silver and Gold Brothers. Note that Tobirama also lost his life during the same First Great Shinobi War, just like his brother.
Third Hokage: Hiruzen Sarutobi
Tumblr media
Also nicknamed "God of the Shinobi" when he was young and then "Professor", 👨🏼‍🏫 Hiruzen Sarutobi was chosen by  Tobirama Senju before his death to succeed him as  Third Hokage (Sandaime Hokage). He is the son of Sarutobi Sasuke, a legendary Konoha ninja who was part of the  Ten Heroes of Sanada and who was in the service of Daimyô Yukimura during the Sengoku era. His wife's name was Biwako Sarutobi and he had two children, one of whom was Asuma Sarutobi, Konoha jônin and member of the Twelve Guardian Ninja group in charge of protecting the Fire Daimyô. He is also the grandfather of Konohamaru Sarutobi, who was nicknamed " Honorable Grandson" by this lineage . Moreover, he has repeatedly challenged 🤼 and tried to defeat his grandfather in order to become the new Hokage, to be recognized for what he is but more like the grandson of the Hokage. Hiruzen Sarutobi was one of the senpai of the two First Hokage along with Koharu Utatane and Homura Mitokado, the latter also becoming his advisers. Subsequently, he became the Sensei of the three legendary Sannins: Orochimaru, Jiraya and Tsunade . Hiruzen Sarutobi had to resume his duties as Hokage on the day Naruto Uzumaki was born after the Fourth Hokage died prematurely due to Kyûbi's attack on Konoha. It should be noted that the  Sandaime Hokage was the only ninja to have mastered all the techniques of Konoha.
Fourth Hokage: Minato Namikaze
Tumblr media
After  Hiruzen Sarutobi, it was Minato Namikaze who was chosen to be  the Fourth Hokage (Yondaime Hokage) and his nickname was the ⚡ Yellow Lightning of Konoha. He was married to Kushina Uzumaki, a kunoichi from Konoha, and they are both parents to Naruto Uzumaki. Minato Namikaze was a student of the legendary Sannin Jiraya, aka  the Frog Hermit . He was subsequently the Sensai of Kakashi Hatake (Seventh Hokage), Rin Nohara the Kunoichi physician and Obito Uchiha. Minato is the one who created the Whirling Orb or Rasengan technique. Even if the latter was not complete, he transmitted it to his master Jiraiya. He had also learned various seal techniques (Fûinjutsu) from Clan Uzumaki thanks to the help of his wife. Subsequently, he sacrificed himself during the Kyûbi attack on Konoha using the technique of Imprisonment of the Dead. Thanks to the latter, he was able to seal half of Kuruma's power in his body as well as the other half in that of Naruto, his son. Minato is today considered a legend. Indeed, he is both one of the most talented shinobi and one of the fastest to date. The ninjas who came from enemy villages had even been ordered to flee when they passed him.
Fifth Hokage: Tsunade
Tumblr media
Tsunade became the Fifth Hokage (Godaime Hokage) of Konoha taking the place of Hiruzen Sarutobi after the latter's death. Little daughter of Hashirama Senju, the First Hokage, and the only descendant of the Senju Clan, she is one of the Three Legendary Ninjas considered to be the greatest shinobi of their time, namely the Sannin. Before being Hokage, she was already seen as the most powerful kunoichi and the best ninja doctor 👩🏼‍⚕️ in the Naruto universe. Indeed, Tsunade has a perfect mastery of Medical Ninjutsu , which allows him to heal and heal any type of injury. She also has an enormous amount of chakra and her Taijutsu techniques (unarmed combat and weapon handling) are phenomenal. Note that Tsunade had abandoned the life of a shinobi for many years following the successive deaths of people for whom she had a lot of affection. It was later that she was persuaded to return to Konoha to become the Fifth Hokage. Besides, his abilities were then very useful and valuable for the village of Konoha.
Sixième Hokage: Kakashi Hatake
Tumblr media
After Tsunade left her post following the Fourth Great Shinobi War, it was Kakashi Hatake who replaced her as the Sixth Hokage (Rokudaime Hokage). Having lost his mother at a young age, Kakashi was raised by his father,  Sakumo Hatake aka White Croc 🦷 of Konoha , who was a high-ranking and renowned shinobi in Konoha. It would even seem that the latter would be even more powerful than the 3 legendary sannins. When he was younger, Kakashi was part of the Minato Namikaze (Fourth Hokage) Team along with medic ninja Rin Nohara and Obito Uchiwa. He then inherited the latter's Sharingan which was dying and which Rin Nohara grafted to him in place of his eye ️ lost during the Third Great Ninja War. He is also renowned worldwide for his use of this Sharingan, which has earned him the nickname Ninja Copier . Indeed, throughout his career, he learned a thousand techniques related to his Sharingan. His skills brought him a lot of praise from his comrades, but also influence in Konoha to such an extent that the council wanted to name him Hokage. However, this position never interested Kakashi but he accepted it in the end. Kakashi Hatake was also the mentor of Team 7 (or Team Kakashi) composed of 3 newly promoted genins: the dunce of the class Naruto Uzumaki, the intelligent Sakura Uchiha and the talented ninja Sasuke Uchiha.
Seventh Hokage: Naruto Uzumaki
Tumblr media
Naruto Uzumaki is the only son of  Minato Namikaze, the Fourth Hokage, and Kushina Uzumaki who was the second Jinchûriki of Kyûbi . Since he was little, Naruto always dreamed of becoming a Hokage one day but also of winning the trust and recognition of the inhabitants of Konoha who always rejected him. Indeed, at his birth, his father sealed Kyûbi in his body, which made him the jinchûriki of the Demon-fox 🦊 with Nine Tails while the latter was attacking the village. This event has therefore earned him the mistrust and rejection of the villagers over the years. After joining Team 7, Naruto worked hard to make his dreams come true and, a few years later, he managed to become a hero in the eyes of ninjas not only in Konoha, but also around the world. He even ends up being considered one of the most powerful shinobi of all time by being one of the main players in the Fourth Great Shinobi War. His actions and achievements then allowed him to be chosen as the Seventh Hokage (Nanadaime Hokage) . He married 👩‍❤️‍👨  Hinata Hyûga, the eldest daughter of Hiashi Hyûga, chief of the eponymous clan. Naruto is the father of two children, namely the elder Boruto Uzumaki and the second Himawari Uzumaki. DDuring his reign, Konoha grew into a prosperous village with great modern infrastructure thanks to many technological advances.
Who will become the 8th Hokage:
Tumblr media
Once Naruto became Seventh Hokage, he therefore achieved his ultimate goal in life and is now a hero 🦸🏼‍♂️ for the people of Konoha. In addition, as we have seen, he succeeded in developing the village as well as possible. At the beginning of the new franchise Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, all the fans wondered about the continuation of the adventures of Naruto. Many had even theorized his death  in the idea of making room for the new generation of Shinobis such as Boruto uzumaki, the son of Naruto, Udon Ise, Moegi Kazamatsuri or Konohamaru Sarutobi. In this lineage, many have also wondered who would become the Eighth Hokage after Naruto. There is a theory supported by several fans which says that it will be K onohamaru Sarutobi who would succeed Naruto as the Eighth Hokage. This hypothesis is based on several points including in particular Konohamaru's filiation with the  Sandaime Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, who is his grandfather. Another point is that Konohamaru has always wanted to become a Hokage since he was a child, like Naruto who is otherwise his idol. Indeed, Konohamaru had in the past tried several times to defeat his uncle while he was still Hokage in order to take his place. During an attack, he had even declared to his grandfather: "You are dead, old crouton, the title of Hokage is mine!". According to Hiruzen, in one day, his grandson would have tried to attack him - more than twenty times, to say how much he wanted to become Hokage when he was still just a child. Even after becoming a Jonin instructor, his desire to become a Hokage was still there. Others have also noted the similarities between young Konohamaru and his idol, Naruto. They both had this dream of becoming a Hokage since they were little kids and they also both have affiliations with a former Hokage. But, in addition, Konohamaru is a young ninja without much stature and who needs to improve himself to claim the status of Hokage. Recall briefly that Naruto was the dunce of his team during his training in Kakashi Hatake's team. It is also important to note that Naruto transmitted several of his techniques to Konohamaru which he himself received from Kakashi Hatake, the Sixth Hokage.. He also taught him the Rasengan and, although it was not made clear, some believe that Naruto imparted to him the Will of Fire that was present in all the Hokage who have succeeded one another. Besides, Konohamaru never stopped calling Naruto "Nii-San", which means big brother.
Who is the best Hokage:
Tumblr media
We were able to see previously a maximum of details concerning the seven most powerful ninjas who succeeded to date to the title of Hokage in Konoha. Many have wondered who was the best or who was the most powerful among them. In response to this question, the opinions of fans can differ enormously. First of all, we must recognize that each of these Hokage is of extraordinary power. We can especially mention Tsunade, the Fifth Hokage and ninja doctor, 🩺 whose healing abilities are incredible in addition to his mastery of the  four forms of chakra (Raiton, Katon, Suiton and Doton) for combat and his great physical strength. We can also cite H ashirama Senju, the First Hokage, who would be the most prestigious Shinobi in the Naruto universe. First of all, he is the initiator of the creation of the village of Konoha, wanting to put an end to the tensions between the clans. He has an above average life force, large amounts of chakra as well as very great physical strength. He is able to perform different techniques with very few hand signs ✌🏼 and master the five elements of the chakra. It's hard to make a list of all of your abilities (healing jutsu, barriers, jumps, regeneration, etc.). But his fame comes mainly from his mastery of Mokuton. However, a large majority agree that Naruto Uzumaki would be the most powerful Hokage, even surpassing Hashirama Senju . Naruto would be superior to the latter and would be the greatest Shinobi the ninja world has ever known to date as it has titanic chakra reserves. This phenomenal amount of chakra comes to him first of all from the fact that he is the  Jinchûriki of Kyûbi,  but also of the eight other Bijû 🐲 during the Fourth Great Shinobi War. Naruto can thus excel in each of his skills. We can add to this his heritage from the Uzumaki clan which gives him incredible endurance and faster regeneration, even instantaneous thanks to the Kyûbi chakra. Its techniques such as multi-cloning are so advanced that it is capable of producing a thousand clones simultaneously. He has a perfect mastery of Rasengan to the point of having created a variant, the Rasenshuriken. Naruto is also able to leave his Hermit mode active at all times as if it were natural to him or to use the Hermit Rikûdo mode , which gives him the possibility of tapping into the Bijû chakra. Note also that he perfectly masters his Bijû mode to such an extent that he can become the very incarnation of his Demon. 😈 Finally, by becoming Hokage, Naruto became wiser and thoughtful, always ready to question himself and only seeking the prosperity of Konoha since he considers each inhabitant as a member of his family.
Become a Hokage too:
Tumblr media
Becoming a Hokage takes on great responsibilities, but also brings its share of prestige to the point that many ninjas wanted to become Hokage from a young age, like Naruto or Konohamaru. However, to earn this title, you have to be an exceptional Shinobi or become one through hard work 👷🏼‍♂️ and effort. If you too are ready to work hard, you can claim the status of Hokage and bring to the village of Konoha all your know-how to defend it and make it prosper. Do yourself also and enjoy the most beautiful Naruto Goodies offered on our site. Part 2: The Hand That Binds
Tumblr media
READ Part 1: Pride or Clan
When he had settled against the mat, gaze still locked with Miho’s, she rose her voice.
“Everyone out.”
There wasn’t a whisper, not single question or objections. The Li filed out under guard, until Victor and Miho were alone.
“I imagine that was far more painful than taking those arrows still sticking out of your chest,” Miho mused, dropping her formality and approaching him slowly. “Humility is not something your clan is known for.”
“Perhaps not,” Victor responded, tracking her advance until she stood directly in front of him. “But I am not my father.”
“No, you’re not,” she smiled, sitting herself down cross-legged. “And for that reason, I am willing to offer my support. The Li stand upon the precipice of destruction, an end – no doubt – Lucien Xu would love to bring about that same future for all who refuse to bow before him, myself included. I like to think that makes us allies.”
“Allies with a broken clan?” he said – not confused, but skeptical with her word choice.
“So, shall I dispatch reinforcements to your capital?” she offered, completely ignoring his question. “No doubt Lucien is already marching there to complete his campaign against you.”
“While I still draw breath it will never be complete,” he declared, his inhale rasping loudly.
“By the look of things, that may not be much longer without medical intervention.”
“I will rest when my people are safe,” he asserted, his glistening brow twitching.
Before he could drive the arrows further into his body, Miho caught his forward listing body.
“Gavin,” she said quietly, and the ninja appeared as if form thin air. “See the good lord to a state room and ensure he lives.”
 Stretching her arms, Miho exhaled a long breath. Within her private quarters, she could be more relaxed, for those who were allowed inside had her closest confidence.
“It went well then,” Jazz smiled, padding on bare feet from the shadows and touching a warm hand to Miho’s left cheek. “Still a little tense though.”
“A little difficult not to with war on our doorstep and the new leader of a rival clan wheezing bloody lungfuls next door.”
“He is next door?” Jazz murmured, brushing her fingertips down Miho’s neck and across her shoulders as she stepped behind the other woman. “I suppose we shall have to be quiet then.”
“That would be polite,” Miho sighed, closing her eyes, allowing herself to be tugged back toward the futon, onto which she sat. “Are we polite?”
“Me?” Jazz chuckled in Miho’s ear, stripping away part of the Fujiwara leader’s robe. “Definitely. You, not so much.”
“And Liana?” Miho prompted, suppressing a shiver as Jazz began to lightly trace the edges of her fingernails against her skin. “Where is she?”
“She returned shortly after you convened in the hall,” Jazz answered. “And now she is no doubt reminding Gavin what he missed while out following your orders,” Jazz answered, beginning the press of her thumbs into Miho’s rigid muscles.
“His greatest fear – being without her,” Miho laughed, wincing as Jazz put pressure on a particularly sore spot.
“Oh, I think his greatest fear is having to share her with you,” Jazz corrected, softening the accuracy of her ‘therapy’ with the gentle touch of her lips.
“Hmm, yes I suppose it might be,” Miho agreed thoughtfully, huffing a loud breath. “You think I should allow them to be together.”
Not a question, a statement.
“I think their bond is genuine,” Jazz replied diplomatically. “And worth nurturing.”
“Fine,” Miho dropped, getting up to wriggle out of the rest of her clothing. “I do not have time for a harem now anyway.”
When she was naked, Jazz stepped up to swathe her in a delicate night-robe, one much the same as she herself wore.
“I am going to need you to work harder, Jazz,” Miho admitted, taking the pale woman’s face between her hands. “The Xu will finish with the Li in short order, then Lucien will set his sight on our mountains. Strong as I am, as my armies are, if we cannot break through his ability to protect his forces against attack, we shall fail – just like Victor.”
Ever so slightly, Jazz nodded, and with a rare, relieved smile Miho kissed her lightly.
“But for now,” Jazz winked, lacing her fingers through Miho’s and giving her a tug back to the futon, “let us forget about Victor and Lucien, and think only of us.”
A suggestion Miho gladly followed.
 ______________________________________________
The morning was bitter with cold, and Miho had risen before the sun. She checked in with Liana and Gavin, who like her, were early to rise for training – despite how strenuous their night-time activities may have been. There were no excuses, no explanations and no fear from them when she interrupted their sparring session, despite the fact Miho had expected Liana to be present with Jazz the evening prior.
They knew if Miho had an issue with their increasingly frequent liaisons, she would have intervened when Gavin first showed an interest. The head of the Fujiwara Clan had a reputation for many things, running her affairs in the face of many societal norms among them.
Still, they were careful to show no measure of impropriety in public spaces.
“Lord Victor,” she prompted, addressing Liana. “I take it he is still alive?”
“Difficult to discern, My Lady,” Liana replied seriously. “The man is so cold; alive, dead, there does not appear to be much of a difference.”
Making little attempt to hide her amusement, Miho gave Liana a light tap on the arm.
“I need you to assist Jazz until further notice,” she said and Liana nodded without hesitation, though Miho was not oblivious to Gavin’s sideways glance. “And I want you to be Lord Victor’s shadow when he is from my sight.”
“You plan to keep him close?” Gavin queried, a little warily, and Miho waved her hand dismissively.
“Everyone must make sacrifices if the clan is to survive the Xu scourge,” she reasoned casually, wriggling her fingers theatrically in the air.
Her face the very picture of carefree.
“My Lady,” a soldier greeted. “Lord Victor is requesting your presence.”
“Duty calls,” Miho sighed, but pointed at Gavin as she stepped away. “I want to be able track the Xu to the last arrow - every hoof in the dirt, every mouthful of rice.”
“Without fail,” Gavin nodded, and had disappeared as if never there.
 After her arrival was announced, Miho entered one of several staterooms used for hosting visiting nobles. Therein she found Victor sitting upright, his otherwise bare chest bound around and cross-ways.
“I am no physician, but you should be resting,” she scolded, despite the crispness of Victor’s demeanour. “You do your clan no favours plunging headlong into an early grave.”
“No, resting in the den of a…” Victor replied, but cut himself off.
Miho’s eyebrows raised.
“Oh, please do continue,” she encouraged, brightly. “It would seem a single night and the best of my medical personnel have worked wonders for your humility.”
Receiving her message, Victor paused to think over a more diplomatic response.
“My apologies,” he conceded, and Miho sat down at the end of his futon.
“Yours is an unenviable position,” she pointed out. “The Xu aside, war has taken its economic toll on your people. Without assistance their suffering will protract until…”
She spread her hands.
“But people are people, Lord Victor,” she went on. “And I would see the misery of your people no more than I would sit idle and endure the misery of mine.”
“And you would allow them to remain, mine?” Victor probed, slowly this time, carefully.
“Well, I’m not sure a hungry child cares who claims sovereignty over her, but if you’re asking whether I intend to pounce on the opportunity to steal your lands? No,” Miho assured him. “The Fujiwara and Li may not be allied, but we’re not enemies, nor do I or my people require expansion. Lucien, on the other hand, is a malice I have no tolerance for.”
Victor took some time to search her face in the wake of this declaration, hunting for duplicity. The world was cutthroat, and clan leaders carried the weight of so many lives it was uncommon for them to not take advantage of any and all chances to increase their influence.
“You look a little confused,” Miho snickered. “Is humanity really so foreign a concept to you?”
“Foreign, no,” he answered. “It was simply not the way I was raised. Were our roles reversed, I cannot say I would be so magnanimous.”
“Will you look at that,” Miho laughed. “A compliment. Have you perhaps developed a fever?”
“You may take it that way if you wish,” he nodded, adjusting the way he sat with a small grimace. “However, it was intended to express puzzlement.”
“Well, you don’t need to truly understand my motivations to benefit from them,” she assured.
“Perhaps not,” he acknowledged. “But I cannot believe your actions will come without cost. If I am not mistaken, Lucien offered you peace.”
“Some skewed version of it,” she confirmed. “Buuuuut, he won’t be able to bind my clan or me in that fashion now.”
“Through marriage, you mean?” Victor sought in clarification, and Miho nodded.
“Don’t get me wrong, I have great affection for my concubines,” she admitted, “I may even love one or two, but for the leader of a clan and for its future, marriage must be an exclusive proposition.”
“I had heard nothing of you taking a husband,” Victor frowned slightly, while Miho’s smile turned into a confident grin.
“Because I have not,” she declared, then narrowed her eyes on him pointedly. “But I will be.”
The Will of Fire (Part two)
Summary: Sarada is the firstborn of the renewed Uchiha clan. Sure, she is different from the Uchiha who preceded her, but by how much? This story follows Sarada’s life and the trials and tribulations she goes through. (Two shot)
A/N: And here’s part two! Look, Uchiha eye hacks are weird so when you get to that part of the fic, bear with me. I tried my best.
Part 1
“Come on Kohei!” Sakura coaxed, holding the spoon to the three year old’s mouth, “You have to eat some of it!”
“Mama no!” Kohei insisted, shaking his head defiantly, “I want Sarda-neechan to feed me!”
“Kohei sweetie, it’s Sarada, and she’s out on a mission. Please eat. She’d want you to.”
----------------------------------
Sarada sneezed. Must be someone talking about me. She thought, adjusting her pack on her back. She was the captain of her first mission. Though she was still a chunin, Naruto-sama had entrusted her because of her recently fully-awakened sharingan.
“If worse comes to worse, you can always hypnotize them into doing the right thing.” Sarada remembered Naruto’s words before she left for the mission. Though he was right, Sarada was really hoping that she wouldn’t have to resort to those measures.
“Sarada-taicho,” the shortest of her subordinates started, “I can sense the Tsurigakure ninja approaching quickly. Shall we fight them?”
“According to the bingo books, they should be an easy fight.” She replied, reaching for her newly acquired katana, “Why don’t we indulge them?”
The the chunin assembled in a fighting position with Sarada in the front.
“Akoto,” she ordered, motioning to the chunin she had previously spoke to, “Stand in the back. As the healer on this team, we can’t afford having you hurt.”
“Yes Sarada-taicho.” Akoto replied, making her way to the back of the formation.
Sarada activated her sharingan and quickly scanned the area. She saw the Tsuri ninja and almost chuckled. Their chakra levels were ridiculously low and they were already arguing. Being a good shinobi, Sarada knew not to immediately judge ninja by their first appearance, but she was more than positive that they weren’t hiding their chakra.
The sub-par ninja came into the clearing, weapons brandished in the least intimidating way possible.
“You are Konoha ninja!” The supposed leader exclaimed, “We will take your precious information now and you will fail your mission while we will triumph!”
Sarada used the shunshin jutsu to appear right behind the trio.
“Didn’t you ever learn not to announce your plan before executing it?” She asked icily.
The Tsuri ninja turned their heads slowly, finally turning around and looking into Sarada’s spinning tomoe.
Akoto stifled a giggle as the trio of pathetic ninja fell like sandbags to the ground.
“I should have let you guys do a bit of the fighting.” Sarada apologized, “It’s just that they were so easy to take down, I would have been unnecessarily drawing out the fight by not taking action.”
“It’s okay taicho.” The tallest of the chunin, Yuji smiled, reassuring Sarada.
“We’re almost at Sunagakure, let’s get this scroll there and be done.” Sarada took out her long braid and coiled the wavy hair into a bun. That braid kept slapping me anyway. She thought.
--------------------------------------------
“Good job you four.” Naruto placed their mission report on his desk and smiled, “I knew you wouldn’t let me down Sarada.”
Sarada grinned. She realized that today was probably the best day to ask the question she’d wanted to ask since she joined the academy. The question she’d wanted to ask since Boruto selfishly took her father as his sishou, and stole him from her. She’d moved passed the feeling of jealousy and realized that having her father as a sishou probably wasn’t the greatest idea for her, since she wanted to follow a far different path.
Once the other chunin had left, Sarada took a deep breath and walked closer to Naruto. “Hokage-sama,” she started, trying to make her voice as solid and confident as possible, “I was wondering if you would take me on as your apprentice. I understand that you don’t have much time, but I promise to work hard and carry on the will of fire.”
Naruto looked rather surprised for a second before his lips curved into a smile. “With the rapid development I’ve seen from you and the deep care for your comrades and your village, I would be happy to teach you.”
Sarada tried her best not to scream. “Thank you so much Naruto-shishou!” She exclaimed, “I promise to never slack off!”
“I’ll hold you to that.” He glanced at his packed schedule and sighed, “Let’s meet on Sunday at noon. I’ll take you to Ichiraku’s afterwards.”
“I’ll see you then.” Sarada practically skipped out of the office. She ran back home, wanting to tell her parents and Kohei as soon as possible.
----------------------------------------
“Mama, Papa, Kohei!” She exclaimed happily as she burst through the door, “Guess what?”
Sakura looked up from her medical textbook and smiled at her daughter, “Well you seem mighty happy, it must be something good!”
“Yeah!” Kohei agreed, grinning with his little toddler smile, “Sarada-nee chan is awesome!”
“Thank you Kohei.” Sarada gave her little brother a hug, “Naruto-sama agreed to be my sishou!”
“That’s wonderful sweetie!” Sakura beamed, “First you fully awaken your sharingan, then you captain your first mission, then Naruto decides to be your sishou, this seems to be quite the amazing month! Let’s go eat something special as a family.”
“You’re just saying that so you don’t have to cook dinner.” Sasuke muttered, placing Kohei on his waist.
“I was going to go to that really fancy sushi restaurant, but if you want my sub-par cooking, it’s up to you.”
Sasuke looked away. “Hn.”
“Anyway, freshen up Sarada-chan. Put on something nice too.”
Sarada opened the door to her room, smiling at the uchiwa painted on her door. She really hoped that she made her ancestors proud.
Sarada pulled on her embroidered tunic and adjusted the back so the uchiwa was centered. Then she chose her favorite black pants and flats.
“I’m ready mama!” She called, standing in front of the door.
Sakura came bustling down the stairs, trying to put Kohei’s shoes on while he kicked and flailed.
“I’ve got it mama.” Sarada came to the rescue as she sat Kohei on her lap and slid the shoes on with ease. “Let’s go get something to eat, ‘kay?” She tickled her brother’s stomach and placed him on her shoulders.
-------------------------------------
“Now that you three are back from your respective training excursions,” Naruto started, smiling at Sarada, Boruto, and Mitsuki, “I want to send you on a mission. It’s A rank, but I believe that you will be able to handle it.”
“Mitsuki, you will be in charge of medical ninjutsu and healing, since Sakura’s your apprentice, and as for Sarada and Boruto, you guys will just beat up the bad guys.”
“Sounds good sishou.” Sarada replied, “I heard that there has been some previous interaction with the village we will be going to, Jomae no Sato right?”
“Yes, back when I was a genin, they sent a kunoichi to infiltrate, but she-ehm, was good friends with Kakashi and committed suicide instead of following her village.”
“Do they still feel hostile towards the leaf?” Sarada wasn’t necessarily worried since she fully trusted her teammates, but it would be a lot easier if everyone was friendly.
“They haven’t shown blatant outward hostility, but given the fact that we are stealing information from them, they’ll be angry if they ever find out.” Naruto rolled up the mission scroll and handed it to Sarada, “I will be trusting this with you. Remember, your job is to get into their information storage room, steal the scroll in question, now this is your part Sarada, I need you to make an exact replica with your sharingan. Once the replica is made, place it where you found the original and high-tail it out of there. Try not to involve in combat, but you have my permission to do whatever’s necessary.”
“Yes sir!” The three said in unison.
---------------------------------------
It was entirely her fault. Sarada looked at the blood soaked battlefield, where the unconscious bodies of her teammates lay prone to further damage. She wasn’t able to protect them, and her replica was faulty. If her teammates, the people that lay closest to her heart, were to die, she would have practically killed them. She would have killed her best friends. As she desperately held back tears, a sharp, debilitating pain blossomed behind her eyes, forcing her to scream in agony and fall to her knees. It felt as if someone was tugging at her eyes and dicing them into pieces. All Sarada could see was a searing white; at this point she wasn’t entirely sure if she was screaming anymore, for all she knew she could be dead in hell. All she could think of is her teammates blood on her hands, and the way her parents and shisou would look at her with disappointed eyes. Naruto had trusted her and she had failed. She didn’t deserve to follow her dream. She didn’t deserve to ever become Hokage!
Suddenly the pain subsided. Sarada opened her eyes, gasping when she realized that the world was clearer than it had even been with her sharingan. She didn’t linger on that thought long though because she soon saw the figures of her assailants. They were smirking at her teammates fallen bodies, making rage bubble and boil in Sarada’s body. She stepped closer to ninja, wiping blood off her face. Where that blood came from, and to whom it belonged, she didn’t know, nor did she care. All she cared about was killing those sons of bitches. She wanted them to feel the pain she did, all the guilt and terror she had been subjected to in the past hour, she wanted to unleash on them tenfold. Suddenly, she realized that she could. She looked into their eyes, instinctively pulling them into a genjutsu. She marveled at the plane, embracing the blood red sky and the amount of torture she’d be able to subject them to in this new world.
They were tied to stakes as Sarada repeatedly stabbed them, using any material she could imagine. In her rage, she didn’t notice how truly evil she was being. For once in her life, all she could think about was doing harm to people.
After what seemed like ages, she broke the genjutsu. She looked at her teammates, noticing that their blood had hardly spread, meaning that her genjutsu had lasted mere seconds, not hours.
Suddenly the implications of what she had done caught up to her. She was hit by a wave of severe nausea and proceeded to empty her stomach on the ground in front of her. Getting over her sudden sickness, she hoisted her teammates onto her shoulders and began to make her way back to the village. She ignored the searing pain that plagued every part of her body and forced herself forward.
Finally the gates were in view. She practically sobbed once she saw the beautiful village she called home, and used the last of her energy to walk into the village before collapsing.
-----------------------------------------
Everything hurt. Not as much as it did before she passed out, but it still hurt. Sarada forced her eyes open, just to quickly shut them again once she saw the bright, white lights.
“Sarada, you’re awake.” A familiar voice said from beside her bed.
Sarada opened her eyes again and turned her head to see the person who spoke. It was Naruto. Sarada fought back the strong urge to cry. “I failed, shishou.”
She whispered, her throat felt like sandpaper.
“You did your absolute best.” Naruto replied, patting Sarada’s hand, “Boruto and Mitsuki haven’t woken up yet, but would you like to tell me what happened? I already struck an alliance with Jomoe no Sato once they realized that the scroll you took originally belonged to the leaf village, so don’t worry.”
Sarada sighed in relief. She pushed herself up into a sitting position, trying not to visibly cringe in pain.
“The mission went well up until we took the scroll.” She started, taking a sip of water from the glass beside her bed. With a far less painful throat, she continued louder, “Somehow the guard knew we were in there despite completely cloaking our chakra. When we heard his footsteps, I made the replica really quickly, and messed up a bit. The guard noticed that and sent their top ninja to intercept us. We tried really hard to fight them, but there were three of us and ten of them, all jonin or tokubetsu jonin level. Mitsuki and Boruto got hurt first, then something weird happened. For some reason it’s kind of foggy, but my eyes started to really hurt. And I mean like really hurt. After that, I can’t really remember what happened. All I know it that I missed only about three seconds, but the enemy ninja were dead once I regained-well, vision.”
Sarada turned to look at Naruto’s expression. Instead of looking disappointed, he looked slightly frightened. “I’m going to get Sasuke.” He announced, “I suppose I don’t have to tell you to stay put.”
Sarada leaned back into the pillows and closed her eyes, drifting into blissful unconsciousness until she was awoken by someone lightly shaking her. She opened her eyes again, noting how it was substantially less painful.
“Papa.” She whispered, hugging her father as tightly as she could.
Sasuke looked affectionately at his daughter before switching to a more serious expression.
“Activate your sharingan.” He commanded, looking Sarada dead in the eye.
Sarada did as she was told, noting the clarity in her vision.
“Now try to do the same thing again.”
She looked at her father with a confused expression, but ultimately followed his instructions. Instead of having nothing happen as she expected, her vision became clearer, and some of the pain returned.
Sasuke handed Sarada a handheld mirror. “What you see in that mirror is the next stage of the sharingan, called the mangekyo sharingan. I had hoped you would never have to get to this stage, but I will take you to the Nakano Shrine once you are discharged.”
Sarada looked at her reflection, gasping when she saw that her eyes were not the three tomoe she was accustomed to, but instead a black cherry blossom in a red background. “What can I do with the mangekyo sharingan?” She asked, blinking several times to make sure she wasn’t dreaming.
“From your description, it seems like you can use the Tsukiyomi like your uncle Itachi.” Sasuke replied placing the mirror on the bedside table, “We will talk more about it once you have recovered, Sakura and Kohei want to see you.”
Right on cue, two pink haired, green eyed people came into the room, both rushing in for a hug.
“Sarada-neechan!” Kohei exclaimed, hugging his big sister, “You’re going to get better right?”
“Of course!” Sarada said with as much enthusiasm as she could muster, “I’ll better before you know it!”
“Well I can make that happen Sarada sweetie.” Sakura said, ruffling her daughter’s hair. “Now that you’re out of critical condition when I can’t operate on you because you’re family, that rule is crap anyway, I can fix you up so you’re good as new. Those doctors don’t know what they’re doing. Trust your mama!”
Sarada nodded, eager to feel at least a little less crappy.
Sakura leaned over her daughter and smiled, placing her calloused palms on Sarada’s abdomen. “I’m so proud of you sweetie.”
-------------------------------------
Sarada was well aware of the rules of the mangekyo sharingan: don’t use it unless absolutely necessary and be careful to not lose control or you may harm those close to you, but she really wanted to stick Boruto into a Tsukiyomi of him tripping over a rock for all of eternity. It would be so very hilarious and not to mention, Sarada would be able to practice using the technique. The only way she was allowed to practice was using regular genjutsu and trying to replicate the terrain. It was far from the same though.
At the moment, she was in charge of training her favorite Shin clone named Kenji. More than anything, she wanted to help him with his mangekyo sharingan, but she was not allowed.
“The best use of your sharingan disguising it with transformation jutsu then getting your enemy to look into your eyes, effectively trapping them in genjutsu.” She instructed, demonstrating the transformation technique on her eyes, “Now I want you to try it on Boruto.”
“Wait!” Boruto exclaimed indignantly, “Why can’t Kenji try it on you?!”
“Because I’m a sharingan weilder baka-Boruto. I might accidentally reverse the genjutsu and hurt him.”
“Fine.” Boruto pouted, tensing his muscles in anticipation.
Kenji looked at Boruto, his eyes a natural brown. As soon as the two had made eye contact, Boruto crumpled to the ground like a drunk.
“Have I hurt him?” Kenji asked monotonously, “Kabuto told me to feel remorse if I have injured someone.”
“No, he’s fine.” Sarada assured, slapping the Uzumaki.
Boruto woke up with a jolt. “Damn you, Sarada-teme!” He exclaimed, “You only did that to humiliate me!”
“That wasn’t the only reason…” She teased, helping her teammate to his feet.
---------------------------------------
Kenji was dead. His death didn’t come as a surprise, in fact, many Shin clones were dying because of some unknown illness that ran in their genes. Despite the forewarning, Sarada was still devastated. Kenji was the closest person Sarada had to an apprentice and he held a close place in her heart as a second brother, even if Kenji didn’t have the capacity to love her. His blunt personality reminded her of Mitsuki, and the fact that she could get along with a Shin clone meant that she was moving on from her childhood grievances.
“Sarada-san?” One of the workers at the orphanage called her name, “If Uchiha Sarada would report to Kabuto-sama’s office, he has something to tell her.”
Sarada stood up and made her way through the brightly painted hallways and towards Kabuto’s office.
“Ah, Sarada!” Kabuto exclaimed, motioning for her to come through the doorway, “As you’ve probably heard, our lovely Kenji has passed away.” His unnaturally pale face dropped in sadness, “Before he died though, he did something rather uncharacteristic for a Shin clone. He showed emotion and asked if he could give you his eyes as a gift.”
“H-he did?” Sarada asked incredulously, “He knew what that would imply, since we were practically siblings?”
“I believe that he did understand that if he gave you his eyes, you would achieve the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan.” Kabuto replied knowingly. He swiveled around in his rolling chair and rummaged through his file cabinets. When he had turned back around, he was holding two vials filled with some kind of preserving serum and a sharingan eye suspended in the center. He looked at the vials with a melancholy expression.
“I hope they serve you well.” He said, handing the vials to Sarada.
“Thank you.” She replied, walking towards the cemetery.
------------------------------------
She knew she had spent at least an hour sitting in front of Kenji’s grave, thanking him profusely for the gift, shedding tears over the fact that she would never see him again, and reminiscing over his sadly brief life.
As she was about to stand up and leave, Shizune placed a hand on her shoulder.
“Sakura told me about what happened.” She wrapped the girl in a warm and loving embrace, “I know this isn’t what you want to be talking about right now, but we need to plan the implant surgery.”
Sarada nodded, wiping away tears. She took a shaky breath, “When’s the earliest date that we can do it? I just want to get it over with.”
“We can perform the surgery today if you would like.” Shizune replied, placing her hands on Sarada’s shoulders.
“I-I would like that.” Sarada combed her long black hair out of her face and straightened her glasses. “May I go home first and spend the day with my family?”
“Of course. Report to the hospital at seven o’clock tonight.”
Sarada nodded and began to walk to the Uchiha complex. She had just lost someone she considered family, and she wanted nothing but to be around the rest of her family, to make sure she didn’t lose them.
-------------------------------------
“Kohei!” She called, running towards her little brother, “How was your day?”
“Mama said that she’d start training me soon since I’m gonna go to the academy next year!” He said enthusiastically, “Did ya know that I’m five now Sarada-neechan?” He held up five chubby fingers, “That’s a whole hand!”
“I heard!” She walked with him to the front door, “Once you start training and get really strong, you can spar with me.” Thoughts of the spars she had with Kenji flashed in her mind, causing her to frown.
“What’s wrong oneechan?” He looked at her worriedly with his big green eyes, “Are ya hungry? Mama’s making dinner.”
“That’s great. Dinner will make me feel all better.” She smiled brightly at her little brother, “You always know how to fix things, don’t you?”
“Yep!” Sarada couldn’t resist the urge to squeeze him tightly.
“I will always love you Kohei.” She whispered, her cheek right on top of his soft, pink hair.
------------------------------------
The mission was supposed to be very dangerous. That’s why Naruto had sent Sarada, Mitsuki, Boruto, and Mirai as they were the most promising ninja of their generation.
“Our job is simply to take out the enemies where they stand.” Mirai instructed, looking at the new team seven with her large red eyes, “There is absolutely no time to reason or speak with the enemies. This is purely an assassination mission.”
“If it’s an assassination mission, why aren’t ANBU members doing it?” Boruto crossed his arms indignantly, “Silent killing isn’t really my style.”
Sarada decided to mess with Boruto a bit. Using a simple shunshin jutsu, she appeared behind Boruto, “It is my style.” She whispered icily, flashing her sharingan.
“What the hell Sarada?! That was really scary!”
“Stop messing around.” Mirai said with a serious tone. “If you’re not going to take this mission seriously, we can turn back right now and Hokage-sama can hear all about how his prestigious student and his son were simply too immature to handle the mission they were assigned to. As for the reason no ANBU were assigned, they’re all out on their respective missions.”
“Sorry taicho.” Boruto and Sarada apologized in unison, glaring at each other.
“My teammates can be strange sometimes.” Mitsuki spoke on their behalf, “I don’t understand their behavior fully, but I believe that it is called rivalry. I am yet to find someone I would consider a rival.”
“That’s great Mitsuki. Let’s get back to the mission now.” Boruto patted his teammate on the back. “So can I come out and blow everything to bits with my flashy moves? Then the enemies will be so scared that they’ll let us kill them without any hesitation!”
“You sound just like your gennin self. You really haven’t changed at all.” Sarada looked at Boruto disapprovingly, “And no. Didn’t you hear taicho? This is a silent killing mission.”
“Fine, fine.” Boruto whined. “You seem like you’re in a particularly deadly mood, why don’t you do the assassination?”
“I think I will.” Sarada hissed, pulling on the black gloves her mother had given her.
All it took was one glance from Sarada and the enemies were trapped in her genjutsu. Without sparing them a minute, Mitsuki plunged his kunai into each of their hearts, killing them instantly.
“Good job you two.” Mirai commended, “Now Boruto and I will dispose of the bodies.”
“Does this mean I get to burn shit?” Boruto asked enthusiastically.
“Yes.” Mirai sighed, “Yes it does.”
The two leaned over the corpses, Mirai incinerating them with her signature Sarutobi jutsu and Boruto just threw whatever flame jutsus he had picked up at the bodies.
“Careful you idiot!” Sarada exclaimed, dodging an errant spark, “You’re supposed to incinerate the bodies not us.”
“Sorry Sarada-teme.” Boruto said with mock remorse.
Finally, a mission had gone without a hitch.
-------------------------------------
“Great, so we finish an S class mission successfully, but return to a goddamn attack?” Boruto exclaimed incredulously, “Nothing can ever go right can it?”
“No it can’t.” Sarada agreed, making her way through the rubble that was the west side of the village. “Did the civilians evacuate?”
A jonin stepped towards Sarada, “I believe that most of them have exited the village, but there might be some people left behind.”
“I’ll find them and evacuate them.” Sarada replied, “I’m sure my parents would be happy to take out the enemy.”
“Sasuke and Sakura-sama are already on it.” The jonin replied. A look of horror passed over his face, “Sakura-sama was in the middle of a load of laundry when she was called to defend the village, so she’s-well….irritated.”
“And their son, Kohei?” Sarada asked worriedly, roundhouse kicking on of the enemy’s subordinates into a building.
“He evacuated safely with the rest of the Konoha Academy underclassmen.”
“Thank god. I’m going to scour the village. Boruto, you deal with these annoying pests.” She motioned towards the dozens of Tsurigakure ninja that had decided to attack the leaf village. “I think they’re bitter about that time my team took out their ‘best’ shinobi.”
Sarada hoped that this attack would be as easy to stop as the one all those years ago, but a nagging voice in the back of her head told her differently.
Running through the damage, Sarada spotted a congregation of people. Upon arriving, she noticed that the civilians were circling around someone. After she pushed her way to the center, she noticed the nanadaime.
“Sarada!” He exclaimed with relief, “I’m glad you, Boruto, Mitsuki, and Mirai made it home safely. As you can see, we’re in a bit of a tight-”
Naruto was interrupted by a falling boulder. In the split second before it hit, Sarada had to make a decision. Judging from the size and angle of the rock, it would hit mostly civilians, but still injure the nanadaime. Sarada knew her duty was to protect the hokage with her life, but she wouldn’t be able to live with herself if she was responsible for the deaths of a myriad of civilians. Confident enough that Naruto could protect himself, Sarada activated her cherry-blossom pink susanoo for the first time and shielded the civilians.
Just as she had hoped, Naruto flash-stepped out of the way just in time, leaving everyone unharmed.
“That was an impressive maneuver.” Naruto commended his student, “I’m glad you made the right choice.”
-----------------------------------
After the Tsurigakure ninja had been dealt with and subsequently severely punished, Naruto called Sarada to his office.
“Since you have been my student, you have proven that you possess all of the traits necessary for the ideal Konoha shinobi. The will of fire seems to run very strongly in you and you never fail to protect a comrade. You wield your sharingan with grace and use your chakra enhanced strength expertly. I have no doubt you’ll represent the village spectacularly as the next Hokage.” Naruto gave Sarada a warm smile.
Sarada felt faint. Really, really faint. She was going to be the next Hokage. Oh god. The next Hokage. Like the. Next. Hokage. “Naruto-sama…” she began shakily, “I can’t believe-oh my lord, thank you! I promise to never let the village down and to protect it with my life! I mean it!”
---------------------------------------
The rosy hues of morning filled Sarada’s bedroom, bathing her bed in a soft light. She opened her eyes and smiled with anticipation since today was the day she’d become Hokage.
Stepping off her bed, she put her red glasses on and moved towards her wardrobe, knowing exactly what she would wear.
You should look formal but not overdressed. Sarada remembered her mother’s words, picking out her burgundy tunic, soft, black pants, and of course, her Hokage robe.
“Sarada!” Sakura called from downstairs, “Breakfast’s ready. You don’t want to be late for your big day!
“Coming Mama!” She replied, walking out of her room and to the kitchen. A warm plate of eggs, toast, and fruit sat waiting for Sarada at the table.
“I can’t believe my girl has gotten so grown up.” Sakura sighed, squeezing her oldest child, “Eat up sweetie. You want to be well fed so that you can show everyone how great the Uchihas are!”
“Oh, okay mama!” Sarada exclaimed after a moment of thought, “I’m going to become the greatest Hokage!”
“I have no doubt darling.” Sakura fought back tears of joy as she saw her daughter walk out of the house, white robe fluttering behind her. The first Uchiha Hokage.
Building Our Own
Kakashi was pretty sure he didn’t like Madara. Pretty sure. There were times when it was really difficult to stay inside his shell and hate the world because watching Madara – barely taller than himself yet filled with enough attitude for the whole village – face off against the taller, brighter, unsuspecting Minato-sensei was always the highlight of his week. Knowing the two of them had so much in common did not mean Kakashi wanted to make friends with the other boy. He didn’t need friends to become the greatest ninja this world had ever seen and restore his family’s honor.
Anyway that Gai idiot followed him around too much already. His non-existent friend quota had been filled, thank you very much.
It was still kind of hard to ignore Madara. The boy refused to not be seen but he wasn’t obnoxious about it. There was just something magnetic about his competence even at such a young age, the confidence in every move he made, even the spiky stupid mess of his hair. Most of the Uchiha that Kakashi met had beautiful smooth hair but Madara seemed to have skipped that gene; his hair stuck straight out from his head in stiff spikes reminiscent of Kakashi’s own locks. Yet another thing they had in common and could have commiserated about together – if he had time for stupid things like friendship. Which he did not.
Much to their sensei’s despair, Madara didn’t seem all that upset that one of his teammates refused to bond with him. The majority of his concentration went to edging a few words about his precious baby brother in to every single conversation ever. None of them had ever met Izuna but after less than a month of being a team they all could have probably picked him out of a crowd and recited at least ten different points of trivia about him off the tops of their heads.
And that right there was the one thing that truly set them apart, the one bit that stopped Kakashi from allowing himself to at least like the boy, even if only from afar. Where Kakashi had lost everyone he ever loved Madara still had someone, even if it was just a useless little brother. He still had someone to care about, someone precious, and besides that he had a clan that treated him like absolute royalty. Apparently Madara was a direct descendant of the great Uchiha Obito, founder of their village and betrayer of the Shodaime Hokage. Kakashi didn’t really see why he got to be venerated for being related to a traitor when others were shunned for the same thing but the one time he had tried to question it Minato-sensei had hushed him and Kakashi felt his heart grow a little bit smaller.
So Kakashi stayed small and quiet and spent the hours he wasn’t training with his team training in private instead. He would grow bigger, stronger, and someday he would be the one to show Madara his back. He would be the one that others watched from afar.
He would restore the honor his father had lost. Only then would his life be worth something.
-
“Your father’s honor is not your own.”
Madara’s words left him reeling, adrift and unsteady where he had always felt solid logic underneath his feet. Kakashi waited for the world to stop spinning before baring his teeth behind the mask that hid them.
“What would you know about it?” he snarled. Madara scoffed.
“I’m descended from the biggest traitor this village has ever seen but does my clan care about that? No. They care that I inherited his strength. Haven’t you ever heard the phrase ‘innocent until proven guilty’ before?”
“At least you have a clan! Don’t talk like you know me!”
“Of course I know you, dumb ass.” Everything Madara said was always said with confidence, as though it was an absolute immutable truth. It made refuting him very difficult sometimes because the way he spoke made Kakashi want to believe.
He resisted because clearly no one else should have a say in his situation not when they weren’t the ones living it.
“I will restore my father’s honor!” he began. He got no farther in to his rant before Madara rolled his eyes and interrupted.
“There’s nothing to restore, he’s dead. We build our own honor. And you have plenty of that even if you’re an asshole. Take the stick out of your ass and wake up. You’re Kakashi, not Sakumo. You can’t fix his mistake any more than I can. He didn’t even make one!”
“He – what?”
Kakashi sat, stunned, and listened to the entire fifteen minutes of Madara’s rant about how true dishonor was in abandoning your comrades and how the entire concept of their village itself had been founded on the desire to protect one’s comrades. Apparently the history books left out quite a bit of information about Uchiha Obito’s life before he abandoned Konoha; Kakashi never knew it was him that had named their fledgling settlement or him that had come up with the idea in the first place as a way to protect his own precious ones.
All through the boy’s impassioned speech he remained silent, soaking in every word like a message from on high, and when Madara finally stopped to pant angrily, kicking at a nearby tree stump, he cleared his throat with more awkwardness than should have fit in to his twelve year old body.
“We should find Rin,” he murmured. It was the best he could do for an apology. Madara narrowed his eyes, probably trying to determine whether or not he meant that, then nodded decisively.
“Good to see you got your head out of your ass. Damn right we go find her. No more of this ‘the mission is more important’ bullshit, alright?”
“Yeah…”
“So what are we waiting for? Aren’t you supposed to be mission leader? Lead on, jōnin-taichou!”
Amazed that his teammate still trusted him to do so when he had only just a few minutes ago suggested abandoning Rin to her fate, Kakashi nodded and closed his eyes to think. “My summons will be able to follow her trail more easily than we can.”
Kannabi Bridge went on to become the mission famous as a long-awaited turning point in the war, the incident that finally gave them a clear advantage to end things in Konoha’s favor. For the ones who carried it out, however, it was memorable for a different reason. The mission to Kannabi Bridge was the day they finally – finally – became a true unit, the day Madara brushed that chip off of Kakashi’s shoulder and offered the hand of friendship instead.
It also became the day Kakashi would look back on and realize he was completely and utterly screwed.
Of course he would fall in love with his best friend. Of fucking course.
ANBU suited him a little bit too well but that was fine. Everything was fine as long as he had Madara there with him, eagle mask covering his face and endless black hair spilling around it like a cloud of death. He wondered why they bothered with the masks sometimes. Both of them were entirely too identifiable by their hair alone so really all the masks did was add a bit of extra dramatic flair.
Shaking his head, Kakashi forced his attention back to the task at hand, pushing just a little more speed out of his tired legs. The two of them had run countless missions together since becoming true comrades, both in the name of Team Minato and as the perfectly matched pair they were now in ANBU, but never had they run a mission this important before. It was only the second time Rin had been captured and already it was starting to feel like a pattern. He wondered which idiot had been the one to decide this time that she was the weak link in their band of comrades. Rin was many things but she was not weak.
As evidenced by the carnage that came in to view when they finally found her. More than half of the bodies that lay dead around her were decorated with perfectly normal wounds, their flesh opened by blades and the extra clean sort of cut that could only come from her weaponized medical jutsu. The rest had been mauled as though by a hungry beast – and a beast she looked, right then.
Her pretty brown eyes glowing red and her entire body bubbling with a sickly green cloak of pure poisonous chakra, it was hard to tell whether or not she recognized them at first. A low growl rumbled across the space between them and the two young men shared a look before hastily removing their masks.
“It’s fine now,” Madara attempted a soothing voice. “They’re dead.”
“Don’t,” she warning when he tried to take a step towards her.
“It’s just me, it’s just Madara.”
“Shut up! I know who you are, dummy!” The growl in her words cracked and hiked to a whine that Kakashi recognized all too well. He’d raised eight dogs on his own; he knew what a wounded animal sounded like. “I can’t go back with you. Not like this.”
Unfortunately neither of them had been born with an ounce of tact. Kakashi snorted. “Can and will. Haven’t you heard the rumors, Rin-chan? We’ve had a beast living with us the whole time and I’ve never seen Kushina-nee bite anyone’s head off yet. Well, not literally. She’s scary but she’s not out for blood no matter what the monster trapped inside her wants. She can help you.”
It was a terrible thing to see in a friend, that broken light of hope too small to be believed in. Kakashi inched forward, saddened when she flinched away but determined to reach her, and when her bubbling chakra burned his skin he refused to show any sign of pain.
“Come home. If we can survive Madara for this long then we can survive you. He’s more of an animal than anyone.”
His friend’s offended screech broke the tension and Rin’s startled laugh was a balm on all their souls, just enough of a positive emotion to push the beast in her belly down. The effort left her exhausted but Kakashi caught her and Madara took point to protect them both as they turned for home, wearing a pout still but it was a very cute pout so Kakashi only teased him a little bit. It was good to be together.
“That’s a big fox.”
“Your observations are as astute as ever,” Madara’s voice drawled from behind his shoulder.
“We have to fight that big fox? He’s just a big scary dog. I don’t wanna hit a dog, Dara-chan!”
“Stop calling me that!”
Kakashi smiled briefly to see Madara stomp one foot. Fifteen years old and he still hadn’t grown out of the habit. Then he turned his eyes back to the carnage in front of them when Rin touched down at his other side.
“Isobu says that Kurama isn’t acting like himself,” she reported. “Something must be controlling him.”
“Right. Let’s found out who, shall we?” Kakashi narrowed his eyes, all traces of amusement gone from their little trio of death as they all pushed off the Hokage monument they had been perched on to make their assessment. Team Minato, as they still sometimes thought of themselves, were not the first line of defense in any fight. They were the ones who ended the fight.
When they found the man controlling the Kyuubi he was much older than they might have guessed – ancient, in fact. The fact that he could still move the way he did seemed to be due to the fact that one entire half of his body had been reconstructed with an unidentified white substance that reformed and reattached itself when injured, healing faster than they could hurt him. And that wasn’t even the part that made the fight difficult. No, that was the fully formed Sharingan in his one good eye, an abomination that enraged Madara.
It took all three of them to bring him down, one unit moving perfectly in sync. It took Isobu and Susano’o and eight dog summons. It took everything they had but in the end Uchiha Obito lay ancient and exposed at their feet, screaming his impotent rage and crying out revenge against a man who had never truly wronged him.
“Senju Hashirama is dead,” Kakashi muttered in exhaustion, kicking away a severed limb still trying to crawl back to its host. “You should be too. Hold still and let me fix that.”
“He abandoned me! He will pay! The world will pay! I will have what I am owed! The perfect world, don’t you see? We could all live in the perfect world!”
“Something tells me your perfect world would not be like mine.” With his blade raised Kakashi shook his head in pity. “The world owes you nothing. Those who go back on their word like he did are trash, that’s true. But those who abandon their comrades? People like you who break bonds, you’re nothing but scum. Goodnight, Uchiha Obito, I hope you find rest.”
“Poetic,” Madara noted, watching as Kakashi impassively drew a blade through their defeated enemy’s throat.
“Maa, I didn’t mean to be.”
Rin groaned and sat down on the bloody grass. Then she fell over backwards with a sigh of relief. “Well that wasn’t what I wanted to do with my Tuesday,” she said.
“Any chance one of you can sense how Minato-sensei is doing with the Kyuubi? I’m fresh out of chakra.” Very gently, slowly so as not to jostle his sore body, Kakashi lowered himself down to join Rin. Madara snorted at them both.
“Your reserves are pathetic,” he pointed out. “The Kyuubi’s chakra has been split but I can still feel Kushina-nee. It would seem sensei was able to seal the beast in to two places at once. Very interesting.”
Both of the two on the ground made soft noises of curious agreement but investigating would have to wait. Just knowing their precious ones were alive was enough for now. Everything else could be left until after they had recovered the feeling in all of their limbs, possibly until after they had slept for a week. They had gone head to head with a legend today, after all. That definitely deserved a nap.
Madara wandered over to perch next to Kakashi, brushing something out of his hair without seeming to realize he was doing so. As much as he didn’t seem to want to admit it he was just as tired as the other two. Kakashi held his breath and allowed gloved fingers to trace the shape of his jaw.
“You took a lot of stupid chances today,” his friend murmured. Kakashi nodded.
“So did you.”
“Hn. Dumb ass.” His piece spoken, Madara’s eyes rolled back in his head and his body gave in to the exhaustion he’d been trying not to show. Unfortunately when he passed out he flopped down across the other two, who both grunted in surprise and then wriggled in dismay to find themselves trapped, lacking the energy to roll the idiot off of them.
Rin was the first to give up, flopping back down to the grass with a sigh. “You know for a second there I thought he was going to lean down and kiss you.”
Then she laughed as best she could at the redness of Kakashi’s face and the disconnected syllables gurgling out from behind his mask.
Twenty years old was a terrible age all of his friends were at least one year older. Twenty years old meant that all of his friends could drink while they oversaw the chūnin exams here in Suna but all he could do was sip soda and watch. What was the point of such a high drinking age anyway? And who had ever heard of a shinobi being denied a drink? He’s been getting served back home since he reached jōnin at the age of twelve.
Actually that probably wasn’t a high point and Minato-sensei should probably make sure that practice wasn’t still being followed. But his point still stood!
Kakashi felt cheated when his decision to go out with his friends in the hopes of watching them all make fools of themselves ended with sitting in the corner of a dusty Suna club watching over the ladies’ purses while Madara snoozed next to him. He’d really been hoping Madara would get drunk and do something stupid. Or maybe that he would get absolutely blackout drunk and do something completely out of the blue like, say, decide to make out with the comrade who’d been silently in love with him for almost a decade now.
Life was so unfair.
Jerking his elbow in to the other man’s side at least got him the amusing reaction of bleary eyes jerking open and an angry expression. He muttered something too but it was impossible to hear of the thumping music so Kakashi shrugged and shook his head, completely unrepentant. Madara scowled deeper and leaned over to put his lips right next to Kakashi’s ear.
“I said, you’re a dick. I was trying to sleep until we can get the hell out of here.”
Kakashi pushed away the urge to shiver and shouted over the music. “So let’s get out of here.”
Rin and Anko both tried to wheedle them in to staying when Kakashi wound his way through the dance floor to give them back their purses but he skipped free of their reaching hands and hustled back to Madara’s side. Stumbling outside was heaven on his ears, stepping passed the barrier of excessive noise and in to the blessed silence of the desert at night. Both of them groaned with relief and rubbed at their aching heads as they hurried away, ignoring the judging eyes of the club’s bouncers, eager to get back to their hotel rooms and just relax. Neither of them were really the sort to enjoy this stuff anyway. A nice homey bar would have been more their style but it had been Rin who invited them out so it had been her choice of venue.
Madara’s steps were surprisingly steady for someone who had pounded back enough alcohol to fall asleep in that blaring chaos. He wove side to side a bit whenever something interesting caught his eye but for the most part he didn’t seem too dizzy and Kakashi felt cheated all over again that he wasn’t needed to heroically offer his shoulder as support.
“Where are we?” The sudden question made him furrow his brows.
“Uh…Suna?”
“No! I mean I don’t recognize this street.”
Stopping to look around, Kakashi bit his lip. “Huh. You’re right. I think we’re lost.”
“That’s fine. As long as I’m lost with you.” Madara shrugged and continued on while Kakashi’s feet stumbled to a halt, one hand pressed against his chest to sooth his suddenly racing heart.
He glared as best he could and hoped the darkness covered the blush on his face.
“You can’t just…say stuff like that.”
“Oh. Shit. You’re right.” Confusingly, Madara looked embarrassed as well to realize what he’d said, clapping a hand over his mouth and sending a guilty look out the corner of his eyes.
“Wait. I know I’m right but why do you think I’m right?” Kakashi asked.
“Cause I don’t want you to know that I like you!”
“Maa, of course you like me, we’re best friends…”
Now frustrated that he wasn’t being understood, Madara stomped his foot and turned to shake a finger under Kakashi’s nose. “No! I mean like like you! Love like you! Don’t misunderstand me! I swear sometimes you do it on purpose because you know it annoys me and–”
His friend continued to rant but most of it washed over Kakashi, who had of course heard this lecture a hundred times and more. Well, except for the part where Madara was apparently in love with him, that bit was new. And mind-blowing. Life-changing, really. It took a while to sink in that Madara didn’t seem to realize what he had just confessed, either because he was too drunk or because nothing else ever mattered when he’d found something to be irritated by.
Why Kakashi found that cute was a mystery.
He did finally shut up when Kakashi kissed him, though. Actually, to be fair, he did make a few aborted attempts at speaking before finally giving in and kissing back, one hand fisting in the front of Kakashi’s vest to keep him in place. When they slowly pulled apart he licked his lips and fell immediately back in to a scowl.
“The mask, you idiot,” was all he said. Kakashi scrambled to pull it down out of the way.
“You want–?”
Madara’s answer was another kiss. And it turned out he was right, it was definitely better with the mask out of the way.
Someday, when he had eventually recovered his scrambled wits and picked himself up from the puddle of goo he could feel his body melting in to, he would need to say thank you. Not for the kiss, although the kiss was good enough on its own to warrant starting a diary just to describe it and Kakashi very much hoped they could do this again. Preferably every day from now on. But eventually he would need to impress upon Madara how grateful he was to have the other man in his life, how important it was that Madara had never abandoned him even when he was a young child with a terrible weight on his shoulders that he should never have been carrying in the first place.
Eventually he would need to say that he owed everything he was as a person to Madara.
But not now. Right now he pressed forward slowly to bury his fingers in long thick hair and cling to the one person he had been striving for since long before he had ever acknowledged it.
My honor is my own, he thought as they stumbled against the front of a nearby shop, his thoughts going back to a moment between them half a lifetime ago. And I owe my honor to you, who showed me how to believe in it. How to believe in us.
