A second year (or, second time-) of doing a card for the @xpau-official season!! This time, featuring Koda, Ichor, Tulpa, and Pretender!

I like to think that Koda (despite facing gods) is weirded out by the other versions of Ichor, so it's hard to get them to come to events! Tulpa and Pretender have heard a bazillion things about Koda (Ichor's a proud monster,<3) so they're curious to finally meet the little human! Koda was bribed via candy cane.

And! Their sweaters!

i was going to add some fun grunge fashion to that ask a few minutes ago like, in a reblog, but when i went to google grunge fashion i just got flooded with like ai generated images that all look like this:

#fab talks #fabtalks #ask #honestly i think this is kind of fascinating #because on the one hand grunge fashion is very heavily associated with the closet of one individual (kurt) however the image of it #is kind of this like this is what most people associate grunge fashion with #this singular outfit of flannel and ripped jeans #which is fascinating because it directly contradicts the kurt wardrobe not that like he didn't wear that but it like #really goes to present the commercialization of grunge fashion in a way because the image of grunge fashion isn't gender neutral dresses #or the melody of kurts different hair colors #or the stupid hats of pearl jam #or chris cornell wearing like several jackets and leggings under his shorts #it's just this singular outfit of a guy wearing flannel #the most easily marketable version of grunge to give it like a uniform that isn't moth eaten grandpa sweaters #like idk the best way i feel to describe old grunge fashion is going to a good will and rolling around in it and leaving with whatever you #gathered but that's not a like static look one can replicate #i think about grunge fashion a lot as consequence of making a comic about grunge in my spare time i guess asdfghjk #like idk i just find the commercialization of this anti fashion movement fascinating as well as the looks themselves because again they're #so interesting and had such a lasting impact on modern culture idk i find fashion so fun asdfghjkl

ever since i discovered thrifting clothes online it is now a weakness of mine i’m like oh i can get this nice shirt for an affordable price? and then i have gotten 5 shirts at an affordable price and spent $80 😔✌️

been hearing a stupid fucking radio commercial about how it’s easy to save on energy costs, “just lower your thermostat and wear a sweater indoors :)” and like. yeah that’s nice in theory, but also no one makes sweaters very thick anymore so they don’t do a lot

#before anyone says ‘buy secondhand!!’ i have most of that stuff is still from the past decade #fast fashion mentality still exists in the thrift store #the best sweater i have is a hand me down from my mother from idk. late 80s early 90s #and that’s not even particularly chunky. it’s just a jacquard so it’s a little thicker #i have another sweater (that i got secondhand) (in a pattern that is traditionally done in jacquard) that’s done with intarsia #like there’s a yarn shortage or something #that’s kind of how these energy commercials come across too. like it’s not actually about saving money but there’s some kind of rationing #or else they’re trying to do the whole ‘climate change is an individual responsibility’#anyway i have my thermostat higher than my parents’ bc that’s my right. this is my house.#i’m not going to get dressed in a room that’s 62 degrees #and i am still cold even though i’m wearing a sweater indoors #mine

the problem with getting into a healthier work-life balance and having energy again is that your project-planning energy outpaces your actually-making-a-project energy by a SUBSTANTIAL amount

#look I have tons of half-finished projects stored away like anybody else #but at my best I DO finish things #I have plenty of old finished dresses and socks and even a few sweaters to show for my hobbies in the past #but over the last few days my brain has finally gotten excited about knitting things again and now it won't shut up #but I am also struggling to finish the few small projects that I've been chipping away at for months
